“Chromatophore, Dark Pulse!” The Shadow Purugly let out a hiss as it twisted to dodge the attacks, avoiding the surge of darkness. However, it wasn’t agile enough to miss Leukocyte’s Aerial Ace, the tip of the Woobat’s wing slicing against the cat’s belly and eliciting a yowl of pain from the cat. Unfazed, it landed deftly--expectedly on all fours--before honing its claws on the ground to fine, sharpened points. With its Attack and Accuracy now boosted, the Purugly retaliated with a Slash, sending Leukocyte reeling. A soft purring sound came from the cat--it relished in the pain it had just inflicted. However, its victory was short-lived as Chromatophore appeared, seemingly from the shadows, and wrapped his tentacles around the Purugly’s abdomen. A cruel smirk spread across his face as he tightened his hold over the cat, constricting it. Gasping for breath, the Shadow Purugly smashed its body against the ground in a desperate bid to dislodge the Inkay. With a cry of pain Chromatophore relinquished his grip, releasing the Purugly who clawed him as thanks. Free from the squid, the corrupted kitty let out one final snarl before scampering off it the blackened forest of the decaying Realm of Shadows. … A tense moment passed before Selene let out a sigh of relief. She gave Leukocyte a pat on her head before returning her to her Flying Ball for some much needed rest. It seemed that the awakening of Shadow Arceus had resulted in more ferocious Shadow Pokemon appearing. Had Leukocyte not been a bit more alert as they trekked through the underbrush, the Purugly would have caught them unawares. Selene shuddered at even the thought of it. While she considered herself a woman unshaken by most things, the journey through even the outskirts of the Realms was treacherous, and the rumbles and roars of the Dynamaxed Shadow Pokemon did little to ease her fears. She flicked her phone open, checking the email she had received from the gym circuit. Where was that blasted meetup spot? Certainly they could have put it in a less treacherous location… I'll go with the Baltoy. Declaring Levitate as the Ability, not that I have much choice, and setting Focus Blast (unnatural) as the extra move. I vote we go down the Normal route because that gives us more options with regards to our available Pokémon. With Ground, at least one of us would have to select a Pokémon weak to the typing and while there's a very real possibility we may have that same issue with the Normal route (e.g. facing a Bibarel or Sawsbuck), at the very least that's not guaranteed.

Ethan watched as his group was formed, and raised an eyebrow. Someone completely decked out in a Ninetales Fursuit and someone that looked like a mishmash of blue and sea green. These were certainly... interesting characters. Though, he didn't really care all too much about them as people. He cared more about them as battlers.
And that, at least, seemed to be good enough in terms of strategy. The group easily was able to come together and figure out a sound strategy. The fursuit would take the Chatot, the teal would take the Munna, and he would take the Noibat. With that team and the Dragon route, this would be a piece of cake. The man then went and grabbed the Noibat's Pokeball. Hmm, if this wasn't a rental mon it might have good potential on his team. Though, that would be an if on that, as well as if something more enticing didn't come along the way. "Alright then, Noibat let's do this. Let's see here," Ethan pulled out his phone to examine the ball. "Level 15. Egg Move Dragon Rush. Hidden Ability Telepathy. Guess you're more special than I thought." Putting his phone away, he grabbed the ball and waited at the Dragon route for the rest of his team to hurry along. --- OOC: Grabbing the Lv 15 Male Noibat, stating extra move is EM Dragon Rush, ability is Telepathy, and that we agreed on the Dragon route.

Celyn tied xyre hair up into a bun and tied their blue hoodie around xyre waist. According to everyone gathered with researchers and trainers alike, all would be using rental pokemon that have been shown to be in the area that are relatively unbothered by both the shadowification and surges in Dynamax energy. They even said these pokemon could harness the Dynamax energy here safely enough to combat the shadowed behemoths that lay in wait within the Realm of Shadows. Which was good. Celyn pulled xyre Pokedex out and scanned all the rental pokemon to look at potential movesets and ways xe could support xer raid partners. Munna. That would be a good pokemon to have considering that their ability Telepathy allows them to not take damage from partners moves, on top of that they seemed to be really helpful support wise early on, and when one could evolve they’d be a powerhouse in their own right should the need arise. Celyn didn’t want to be the main attacker(s), not now at least. Xe wanted to scan and study the Shadowed Pokemon and analyze what allowed them to become such, and still harness Dynamax energy without a need for a Trainer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Picking up Munna, Declaring the ability to be Telepathy Attacks; Psywave, Defense Curl, Lucky Chant, Yawn, Psybeam, Imprison, Stored Power, Hypnosis Unnatural: Glitzy Glow I believe that We are choosing to go down the Dragon Route, So my vote is on the Dragon route.

Following this, a selection of Pokémon were provided for the Trainers to choose from. Marv hung back- he wasn't getting in on the battling, after all, and so he merely held his camera at the ready, with Bright flying overhead to adjust the lighting however ended up necessary. "Hm..." Diana murmured, looking over the various Poké Balls. "Sweet, what do you think?" she murmured. "Illu..." considered the female Bug-type, tilting her head as she looked at the Poké Balls. Finally, she pointed to one. "Mi se!" she declared. Diana nodded, taking the Poké Ball her Illumise indicated. "I'll trust your judgement," she said simply. "Marv, are we ready to roll?" she added. "Just about," Marv added. "Bright, if you would?" "Bebeat!" the Volbeat responded, starting up a Tail Glow, carefully angled and powered to provide good lighting- he'd been seeing much more use in this sort of role since Marv and Diana started working at Sludge Wave TV, since there wasn't nearly as much sophisticated equipment as there was for their use at Fizzytopia TV. Once the lighting was perfect, Marv gave the thumbs up, and Diana, microphone in one hand and Poké Ball in the other, spoke into the camera. "Just now, I have been teamed up with these other Trainers, and we will soon head off on our own path to investigate the ominous goings-on, and teaming up to battle anything in our path," Diana stated. "I've chosen one of the provided Pokémon, and am about to send it out now to see what I will be working with." As she said this, she held up the Poké Ball to get it in the shot clearly, then turned off to the side and tossed the ball in the air. "Out here on the double!" she exclaimed. The ball split open, and from within, there appeared a somewhat human-shaped creature, wearing a helmet that seemed to be made of the husk of a berry of some sort. Another berry, a whole one, it clutched in one hand, seemingly ready to throw it as a projectile. "Pass, passim!" it chattered, looking around. "...it appears I shall be working with this Passimian in the battles to come," Diana stated into the camera. "Passimian are reputed as Pokémon that excel at teamwork, so my hopes for this are high. Moving forward with optimism, reporting for Channel 110, I'm Diana Macks." "...aaaaand, cut," Marv said once he'd stopped rolling. Diana gave a small sigh, turning to her rental Pokémon. "My name is Diana," she said. "I'll be working with you here, Passimian, OK? I'm hoping you and I can help us get through these battles and get to the bottom of all of this." "Let me see... I think I still have those notes," Marv murmured, rummaging through his bag. Finally, he produced a small card with a picture of a Passimian on it, and read off of it. "Passimian, the Teamwork Pokémon. A Fighting-type. Passimian use berries as weapons, and work very well with others, knowing the value of cooperation." "Sounds ideal for a situation such as this," Diana said with a small smile. "Alright- Passimian, back in the ball for the moment," she added, holding out the sphere and withdrawing the Fighting-type. "There still remains the question of which way we'll go," Marv pointed out. "We should confer with the others." "Agreed," nodded Diana. "Alright," she added to the other Trainers. "First up- once we've all worked out which way we'll going, we can head out for there with our news van," she said, gesturing to the Channel 110 news van. "My cameraman Marv can drive us, and there's plenty of room in there to fit us all. Now, then..." And from there they began to discuss which way to go, with Diana of the personal opinion that they should go towards where a Dragon-type was said to wait. OOC: Picking the male Passimian, declaring his Ability to be Defiant, and choosing for his additional move the unnatural TR move Drill Run. Voting for the Dragon path. |

Elijah stared at the podium in front of him. Five divots were embossed in it, each one meant to hold a single Poké Ball—although it looked like he got here a bit late, considering that three of the five were empty. "You mean, like, I can't use one of my own?" A quick, furtive glance at the notification that he got earlier confirmed it; every Trainer had to use one of the Pokémon on offer. Huffing in disappointment, he released Epoch from their Poké Ball, anyway—there weren't any rules about letting his own companions watch, and he totally needed the company right now. Back to the Pokémon. What he had left was a choice between a Pawniard and a Gastly, both level 15 according to the labels on the podium. "I mean, I gotta go with the one that I recognize," Elijah said, taking the Pawniard's Poké Ball with him. If he was going to be facing the kind of boss that he thought that he was facing, then having a Pokémon that he at least sort of knew about at his side probably made the difference between succeeding and getting curbstomped by whatever was awaiting him. ...At least, he hoped it made a difference. At least if the Pawniard fell in battle he could probably tank a bit himself, if his track record of surviving sudden Teddiursa attacks and being flung through shadows by a Gengar was anything to go by. Whatever, can't be that bad, Elijah thought, making his way over to the rest of the group. The other three Trainers looked confidently settled in their places, according to him; one had what his Pokédex told him was an Inkay by their side, one was almost entirely clad in blue and purple (almost like a Hydreigon), and one looked like they were more than ready to take on whatever was ahead, despite their relatively formal outfit. "Uh, hey, name's Elijah," he said as he held out his right hand. Might as well introduce himself while he's at it. --- Taking the Normal route like most of our group. Grabbing the Pawniard, declaring his ability to be Defiant, and throwing the Egg Move Quick Guard on him.

PJ was paired with two other trainers, and given a selection of Pokemon they could rent out for the adventure. PJ immediately pulled out his PokeDex and began scanning the offered PokeBalls, checking the data of the Pokemon inside. They were also informed about their two paths, one registering Water energy and one registering Electric energy. Not a lot of time to strategise beforehand, so they got right down to business. One of the rental Pokemon stood out to PJ right away. A female Krabby, with the natural ability Sheer Force and a unique move in Focus Blast. His bash brother duo both seemed happy with this pick as well, in a way representing both of the duo a Water-type with a powerful Fighting move. PJ put an arm around each of them, pulling them into a hug together and rubbing the back of their heads as he continued to discuss strategy with his teammmates. Even though the best of their limited selection were mostly tied to the Water type, Electric really seemed like the best choice here. They were allowed to swap the rental Pokemon for Pokemon found here after winning one of these raid fights, and it would be unfortunate to have to deal with such a limited type selection later on. Looking through the data he had scanned of the Krabby, PJ also had some ideas for what he might be able to do against an Electric type. Electric would be a bit scary at first, but it would most likely be the best in the long run. OoC: Picking Krabby, declaring her ability Sheer Force, and giving her the TM move Focus Blast. Voting for the Electric path |

"Hm? And who might you be?" came the small voice of the Igglybuff she'd decided upon. "Um, well, my name is Catherine, and-" Catherine began quietly, before the Igglybuff before her interrupted. "Oh, you actually understand me? Then we should be fine. I've heard bits and pieces of what's going on from being scrambled around the League offices, so don't worry, I'll do my best! Name's Arthur, by the way. Got the usual moves for an Igglybuff my size, and Draining Kiss to boot. As for Ability, I think the suits said it was Competitive. Been in a few raids myself, and it definitely comes in handy." Arthur said. "Alright. Let's meet up with the others and get going." Catherine said, returning Arthur and making her way over to her group's meeting point.

Stonjourner, the Big Rock Pokemon. Most commonly found watching the sunset each day on an open, grassy field, this Pokemon can also be seen gathering together annually to form a circle, though for what purpose is unknown. Its large legs are used to deal powerful kicks to its opponent, and it can also use its sheer weight to overwhelm its target. Nice! I think I'll take this one that has Focus Blast as its extra move, and I'll vote for the Normal route to start off!
