My favorite TUGs song is "Inside the Gift Horse's Mouth." It was one of their earlier releases, as it was their last song before their original kazoo player took time off to take care of his pet cats.

>Hana, Hana! Have you heard about the TUGs' newest album? It's called "TUGS on a BOAT" and features real boat noises!
Aww, yeah. Boatcore, man. I totally see where they're going now. I'm surprised they've become so prolific all of a sudden, though. It's in such a stark contrast to their pre-hiatus era. When they took their hiatus, did Annie and Kevin just stockpile songs or something? That's the popular fan theory, anyway. As for deoxys and his hipster cred, I'm afraid that if the rumors are true, his hipster cred is going to be demolished when all the TUGs fans, casual and hardcore, are going to be talking about "People Who Live in Rocks..." and its other awesome tunes "An Ill Swarm" and "I'm a Fighter (And a Damn Good Lover)". (The latter is a novelty tune in the vein of "Itchy Bitchy Spider" and super fun.) Anyhoo, there's rumors afoot that there's going to be a split album with Cat Kills Stereo consisting of the PWLIR... EP from TUGs and CKS's similarly rare Somnambulist Siesta! EP. >My favorite TUGs song is "Inside the Gift Horse's Mouth." It was one of their earlier releases, as it was their last song before their original kazoo player took time off to take care of his pet cats. *brofist* That's still my favorite song from their self-titled album. That's probably one of the few songs on that album that really shows any signs of the sound that would emerge in full with Ghost Chilli. Their kazoo player put out a concept album about the 1974 "Super Outbreak" a few years ago that's worth checking out. Gave me nightmares for a month, man, but it was good.

Fix'd. And yes, I saw it. I thought it profiled Annie, the lead singer, well, but left something to be desired with most of the other band members. It might as well have been called, "The Annie Hour." My favorite, Matt, the bassoon player, barely got any screentime at all!

Okay, I got linked an audio file of one of their newer songs, although it may just be a hidden track I never heard before. And then I lost the link Q.Q
It was one of their slower ones, a deconstruction of gender dynamics called "A Girl Named Sue", in which a girl beats the crap out of her father (it makes more sense in context). Was this an older hidden track of theirs or is it something new? |

I know, I've been looking for it all morning and can't find a trace. Maybe Hana will know.

That's actually by The Tags, a dream metal band from early last decade. Subverting and inverting gender tropes is their main "thing" - was, really, since they broke up after two albums. It's common for trolls to mess with people's heads by uploading individual Tags songs as "TUGs - A Girl Named Sue" and whatnot. Someone will post it on TUGs boards, thinking it's a leak from Medicine Dog or an unfinished demo. tungsten

So did you hear what happened at their last tour stop? The Tags showed up and the two bands got into a fight! The TUGs are down Joe, their paper-and-comb player a few months because of it. "El Grando Banano" just won't be the same without his awesome solo.

Dammit, taken in by the trolls!
I should have known, though. The song was completely devoid of electric triangle |

Joe plays the paper and comb? o_o That's not what I heard. I heard he played the Bass Kazoo, which was why the song "El Grando Banano" lacked consistency in its bass line. Poor Matt just couldn't play all the notes Joe could while also playing his own.
On the other hand, my favorite band member has to be Poindexter. the one who played the pentatonic sponge. You gotta give him credit, he made thwacking a living sea sponge with a blunt instrument sound downright pleasing to the ear. Did you hear his solo album yet? He got fifteen or sixteen different animals and bludgeoned them half to death with his bare fists. It sounded amazing :O

Sorry, but my favorite member was always Truffles Cosmo, the electric triangler. The symphonic chords he could crank out were skull-melting.

Your best bet, then, is to see if they're coming near your city on their upcoming "TUGs and Biscuit" tour. I heard they're going to start selling TUGs mugs.
