I find it hard to people that the majority is in their early twenties. The mob has the patience of an 8 year old. They just can't seem to grasp the fact there's a lag and now in a fit of anger and impatience they're soon going to turn to anarchy again without withdrawing Zapdos.

I was confused by a lot of your guys' posts today -- you seemed to suggest a lot of releases that the community wasn't reporting -- so I thought it'd be good to provide a quick headcount for everyone's sake. This list comes straight from the Google Docs document that the Reddit folk are updating:

Current Team:

1. Pidgeot, Level 60
2. Venomoth, Level 34
3. Drowzee, Level 29
4. Gastly, Level 22
5. Lapras, Level 20
6. Zubat Level 18

Bird Jesus, ATVenomoth, Rick Gastly, Air, Drowzee, and a throwaway Zubat.

In the PC:

1. Zapdos, Level 50
2. Nidorino, Level 33
3. Rhyhorn, Level 26
4. Nidoran, Level 24
5. Nidoran, Level 22
6. Venonat, Level 22
7. Zubat, Level 16

Zapdos, Nidorino, potential backup surfer in Rhyhorn, and then a bunch of throwaway mon. (Though the Nidorans could be worthwhile in a worst case scenario of losing everything better than them.)

So Lapras is safe, ATVenomoth is safe, etc. It seems the only casualties that the fandom really cared about are Gloom (Cabbage), Farfetch'd (Dux), and Raticate (DigRat). The loss of Raticate is especially bad since it was Level 29 and had some great moves in Dig, Body Slam, and Quick Attack. The loss of the two Cutmon has meant that the stream is having to resort to a roundabout way of getting to Cinnabar Island ... but they are doing it, it seems, rather than risking more PC shenanigans.

I think everyone agrees that the stream can't be trusted to not try for Omanyte once they reach the island. Hopefully they won't let their greed get the better of them and they will be willing to deposit one Pokémon and withdraw nobody. Leave Zapdos as backup in case you lose your team to trolls.

Watching democracy try to withdraw Zapdos from the PC and my god it is shocking how many people don't seem to understand that there is a delay and they're not voting on the current button press on the screen but the one after that.

In democracy you can queue moves, so the whole process would work without a hitch if they added "wait2" onto the end of every move they ordered but very few of them seem to register this.

When a friend of mine heard how far the Twitch crowd had gotten, he wondered if maybe they might beat the game by Wednesday. I gave him some examples of past progress and he quickly realized that Wednesday was a mite optimistic. I suggested Friday would be a more reasonable bet.

... It's been almost 15 hours since I checked in this morning and they're still dicking around inside the Abandoned Mansion, I can only assume still trying to get the key to Cinnabar Gym's front door. *sigh*

Ah, apparently they got stuck earlier today because the burglar made eye contact with them while they were in that small space and he sealed their only exit. So they had to walk back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, waiting for their entire team to faint from exhaustion (battle, burns, poison) so that Red could black out and they could escape. Pretty nuts.

I just checked in to see what they were up to. It seems like Viridian City is giving our players some trouble. If you're patient enough for it, this animated gif should explain their plight. Copy and paste it for the Pokémon Center in Viridian City. (It has almost the same exact problem.) Right now, the players seem to be torn between two objectives. One, go to the Pokémon Center in Viridian City to not only heal up (which they desperately need) but to mark Viridian City as their spawn point should they white out. Two, go to the Viridian Gym, take on Giovanni, and hopefully get the eighth gym badge. Half the players want to do #1 ... and half the players want to do #2.

Meanwhile, a quick status update on the team:

I know that the stream had wanted to teach Strength to Nidoking earlier this morning, so it looks like they accidentally (?) taught it to Lapras instead. Not really sure what else Nidoking can learn but man if Poison Sting and Focus Energy aren't shitty.

Kinda surprised by Omanyte's low level. I saw them training him earlier in the Abandoned Mansion. I think I even saw him hit Level 34! So I'm surprised to see that he hasn't gained a single level since then. I would have figured that the stream would have been all over trying to up-level their lord and savior to Level 40 at the very least, if not Level 45 or Level 50. Guess they figured they'd just do it faster once they reach Victory Road. *shrug*

Zapdos's moveset looks amazing given the chaotic nature of this run, but it is sort of sad to think that, as far as general utility goes, Zapdos has begun to surpass Pidgeot. They're so close level-wise and Pidgeot's only two damage-dealing moves are Mirror Move and Quick Attack. Zapdos meanwhile has the likes of Drill Peck and Thunder. Pretty incredible stuff.
