I'd want to turn on my glasses by prefacing commands with "Computer..". This would be so freaking awesome.

But glasses containing a video camera in the frame have been around for a long time, and are readily available for about $30.

No, no, that's exactly what I was saying. I was trying to illustrate how cheap it would be, even at the initial release.

Google glasses are much more than just a pair of glasses with a camera in it though. It has multiple things built in, I'm just hoping you'll be able to play angry birds on them.

I got to see the Moller Sky Car in action, and prototypes are really common in Northern California (I think that's where the idea seems nucleated).
There's a ton of hurdles but the idea has some merit beyond a novelty (versus Glass). Although it would be a nightmare to implement fully.

It's pretty true though; no offense to anyone in this thread, but all the points that have been made are the same points that were made on every single new technology that could potentially violate our privacy (e.g. computers, Internet, webcams, camera phones, smartphones) and no massive crazy Big Brother privacy violation has happened yet. Of course, that's not to say it won't, but I don't think it's terribly likely.

Oh Google Glass isn't necessarily the final nail in itself, but in that the big brother mentality is already a thing (it's just that states aren't the ones best at doing it) it's not really wise to deny that this is going heavily in that direction. Google Glass merely symbolises it pretty neatly.
Saying that it doesn't matter, though, well that's fine. |

I'm not saying that it couldn't happen or that it won't, but I feel like it's often an excuse for alarmist reactions, which I am largely skeptical of.

Oh that it definitely is. But it is one step towards camera contacts, whcih is one step towards zombies.

Isn't this how Cybermen started in that one episode of Doctor Who?
Except with glasses instead of bluetooth headpieces. |

Yeah.
Oh man. I was watching Tomorrow Never Dies recently. The car is considered amazing because it has GPS. Haha. |

The Google Glass seems like a pain to me, notifications keep popping up in front of your eyes and the voice command doesn't always work.
However it is still a bit helpful I don't think I would even think about getting it. |
