As much as he would like for your relationship to progress, he couldn’t help but feel serious concern for the Furfrou that you described. “You have a very beautiful name Alice, it’s a name I certainly won’t be forgetting.” He then stands up and walks toward one of the windows on the cabin to look out at the rolling hills in every direction. “I haven’t heard anything about the Furfrou but if she is out there right now, I can’t deny that there is a chance she ran into trouble.” Turning away from the window he looks back at you. “You see, Skiddo are generally very docile and calm so seeing one as frustrated as the one outside appears to be has us rangers concerned. My partner Joe left earlier to see if he could find anything unusual that might have caused the Pokemon distress but he hasn’t returned and I need to stay here just in case trainers such as yourself stop by.”

Every time Ivan pauses his sentence, the sound of Skiddo ramming into the cabin is pretty hard to miss. A bit of frustration shows on his face as he isn’t sure what exactly he can do in this situation and it’s clear you have a very pressing concern at the moment. “I really wish I could help you, I hate seeing a woman in distress but I’m not really able to leave this cabin at the moment. However, if I do see the Furfrou I will definitely do everything in my power to make sure it receives the medical treatment that it needs. Right now, you might have better luck with asking my partner who is actually out there. I can’t tell you exactly where he is because I’m not sure about his exact location but, he did head to the east when he left.” After he is done telling you the only thing he can come up with he jogs back around the counter and grabs his phone, holding it out to you. “How about we exchange numbers? You know, this way if I hear about Furfrou I can contact you.” He gives you another one of those perfect smiles again as he waits for you to input your number into his phone.
This bitch. Laughing inwardly, although tempted outwardly, this actual bitch. Alice's lips quirked, and while she did enjoy being flirted with and adored, she still found this kind of creepy and unnerving. Honestly, the trainer was made up of oxymorons. She was both naive and cynical, flirtatious and shy to the point of literally having fled from people. It was showing through now, although Alice played off being cool and just ignored the advances being made.

"Thanks. I was named after my great grandmother, I think." She said, one of the few facts she knew about herself from before her double-digit years. "I mean, I'm not so much in distress as Dutchess is, but thanks. I'll definitely go and find your colleague, though, and see if we can work together to get stuff done. If they come back, pass on the information incase we missed each other? I'd appreciate that."

At the suggestion, Alice rose her brows, and she switched tacks. "Nice and smooth there, dude. But sure, for the mission, obviously." The trainer's tone was dry, and Alice knew that if her Pineco Farren bore witness to this, he'd be wishing she were a more gentle soul. Eridian the Bagon might've already ripped off Ivan's feet. She went and set her number in the device, told the ranger to leave a message on her Xtransciever so they'd have details both ways, and then turned to walk out. "Don't take a picture to last longer, it's harassment~!"

Instruction playfully and loudly delivered, the cabin door didn't hit her butt behind her. This was not surprising, because her booty wasn't the biggest about. The blonde returned to the Skiddo, and approached just enough to get attention, but hopefully not close enough to immediately get rammed. "Hey there, little buddy. You seem really, super upset about something. I thought maybe I could give you some food, and you could maybe show me or tell my Abra, Axel, about it if it's too complicated? I could bring him out if you like."

Voice honey sweet, Alice set the Love Ball on the ground just a bit in front of her, as if inviting the Pokemon to open it up if he so willed. The bag set on the ground had a pocket open filled with pokeblock and poffin of various mixtures, and the human moved back a bit to be less intimidating. "People are worried about you, you know? I won't hurt you, I swear." She held her hands up, palms open, to drive the point home. "I'm Alice, by the way. If you can understand anything I'm saying. I'm not best at Pokemon speak myself, but I do try."

Isaac stood at the entrance to the forest. He had never been crazy about walking through forest... especially not ones of this size. However, Vinny looked particularly determined. The small Eevee stood at his side, shaking with excitement. She was finally going to be the Leafeon she had always dreamed of, she couldn't wait! It would finally be like she was an adult, her teammates would get a kick out of her when they saw her new form. Isaac smiled at the Eevee, she had been with him through the best... and the worst. She had seen sides of him that he never wanted to admit he had, and yet, she stuck close to him. Maybe it was pity, but maybe it was something else. He lit a cigarette and pulled it to his lips, he knows it's a filthy habit that will kill you eventually, but it's better than craving the other stuff. He didn't even want to think of his past at this point --- it was supposed to be Vinny's day, not his.

Vinny shot him a somewhat angered look, almost saying something along the lines of 'you smell gross' or 'I wish you didn't smoke'. He chuckled and leaned down to pet her head, smiling as he did so. "I promise I'll stop one day... just... maybe not in the near future." He smirked at her and she rolled her eyes, almost as if to say 'Yes Mr. Casanova... that's what you always say.'. Her eyes darted back towards the forest, her fur bristling with all sorts of anticipation. She couldn't wait to find that beautiful rock, resting her paws upon it and evolving into what she always dreamed.

"Why Leafeon?" Isaac asked, not exactly expecting a true reply. Vinny crouched on her haunches and batted a flower, she had always been a nature lover... he supposed Leafeon really was the most fitting prospect for the young Eevee. "I think I gotcha..." He smiled, plucking the flower from the ground and pushing it behind the Eevee's ear. "Cute as usual." He smiled and Vinny let out a small blush in response, "Y'know Vin, once you're evolved we can change my act a lot. We can work something out around your evolution... it'll be great!" She gave a playful nod, beginning to trot towards the forest.

"Okay, okay. I get it, I'm talking too much. Let's get going." Isaac plucked his cigarette from his lips and tossed it to the ground, stamping it out on the grass with his shoe before continuing his walk. To the Moss Stone they went, with the headstrong Vinny leading the pack.

Jessica – As you are forced to listen to the man prattle on about how he is not about to miss his beloved TV shows, you and Lilac aren’t sure it’s ever going to end. However, he eventually mentions something that gives you an idea, maybe you’ll actually be able to accomplish both escaping his venting as well as getting your hands on that envelope. Once you have this plan in mind, you go to speak but find that this may be a bit more difficult than you thought, since now you need to find an opening to get your own words in. At this point, he is talking about his wife and how she can’t stand dishes being left in the sink and you are still stuck waiting for him to pause while wondering if this guy even stops to take breaths. Suddenly, he is forced to stop because he is lightly coughing because he dried his throat out a bit from talking so much. You take this as your opportunity and finally, your voice is heard. “Ohoho! So, this little fella’ can dance, eh? I’d love to see him perform!” The man clearly wasn’t listening when you used female pronouns as you spoke about your Petilil but that’s not what matters right now. What matters is that he is taking the bait.

Lilac’s eyes seem to light up when you give her permission to show this man her true talent. Her confidence was already doing pretty good after seeing how much the Azurill enjoyed her tune, so now she is even more fired up to impress someone else. She takes off her scarf and begins to play her Grasswhistle to add music while putting on a very entertaining show of dance. Her scarf flies about completely in rhythm to the beat and the man seems to be completely hypnotized by your Pokemon’s talent. He is definitely distracted enough for you to go in there and get that envelope so that is what you do. You carefully bend under the caution tape and crawl toward the bench, carefully grabbing the envelope underneath. It was very easy to grab and you didn’t disturb the paint at all! You’re confident with your success and didn’t pay complete attention as you backed out and stood up a little too soon, causing you to bring the cation tape with you, knocking the poles it was attached to over in the process. None of it touched the bench, thankfully, and you quickly move about to get yourself back on the other side of that tape before the man notices. Once you are safely out of the way, Lilac ends her performance and the man applauds. Then he turns around to see the caution tape on the ground everywhere. “Huh… I wonder what caused this…” He begins to put it back the way it was as you finally open your pink envelope, pulling out a golden voucher as well as a note. “Great job making it this far! Please come back to the center of the main garden and bring the voucher with you!” It seems that this time the envelope doesn’t contain a clue, it just has specific instructions. Looks like knowing what to do takes no effort this time around so you and Lilac make your way out of Queen Bellossom’s domain and to the center of the main garden.

Please read my second post for the final round of the scavenger hunt.
As Lilac managed to distract the guard, who was mesmerized by the hypnotic movement of her scarf like a Tauros by a red cape, twirling in time to the music as she kicked up matching leaves underfoot in a showering show, Jess successfully sneaked by to retrieve the envelope. Unfortunately she accidentally upset the caution tape as she attempted to back away, although the man seemed not to notice, too captivated by Lilac's performance to alert to any movement in his periphery. Jess held her breath as she scurried to safety on the other side of the fallen ribbon, signaling to Lilac to cease her spectacle. The Petilil struck a final dramatic pose, bowing politely in answer to her audience's applause. As he turned around however and saw the mess of a sight that awaited him, he merely exclaimed in wonderment as to the cause and began putting things back the way they were. Jess and Lilac looked at each other, the latter barely stifling a giggle as they edged away towards escape.

As soon as they had put a fair distance between themselves and the bench (plus the man now mumbling in gripe to himself rather than talking their ears off), Jess opened their prize to find a congratulatory message and specific instructions to return to the central garden. Relieved she wouldn't have to resort to searching the Queen's throne room after all (or solve any more riddles for that matter), she did as directed and made her way back with Lilac to the main entrance.

All of the teams seem to slowly exit their queen’s domains around the same time, it seems that everyone made progress at a similar pace so it’s hard to tell how a winner is going to be determined. As the trainers exit their quadrants, their team’s representative gardener is directly outside patiently waiting to greet them as they make their way out, that is, all except for Persimmon who is standing on the stage in the center with a microphone in his hand. “Uh… If everyone could please hand your vouchers over to your team’s gardeners that would be great.” After giving those instructions, he puts the microphone down on a stand and pulls a crumpled note out of his lab coat and begins mumbling whatever is written on it to himself. As the members begin to approach their gardeners, everyone observes that there are now several different fair games on display out here that were definitely not there before.

Team Bellossom hands their vouchers over to Peony who is smiling wide and gives each member of the team a curtsy since she loves any excuse to show off her latest dress. Team Roserade approaches Poppy and he takes the vouchers while giving each member a hearty pat on the back for a job well done. Team Lilligant turns their vouchers into Petunia who whispers to each member about how well they did in there. Meanwhile, Team Tsareena have to make their way onto the stage in order to hand their vouchers in because Persimmon got so absorbed into reading his latest notes about the hyperspectral inversion of potassium content in vegetation that he forgot to step down in order to collect them from his own team. Even when he takes them, he barely manages to pull his attention away and then shoves the vouchers inside of one of his pockets as his team makes their way back off of the stage.

After a long pause of awkward silence, Poppy finally clears his throat loudly in order to finally grab the scientist’s attention. “Oh uh…” Persimmon quickly grabs the microphone once again, causing it to briefly reverb before going back to normal. “This is the final round of the second part of the event. As you can all see, while we made sure that you were all distracted elsewhere by slowing you down with obstacles, we set up several games out here.” The other three gardeners shift around somewhat awkwardly as Persimmon proceeds to openly tell the participants that all of those obstacles were intentionally set up to buy them time. “So yeah uh, each of these games will award tickets and each of you gets to choose only three of these games to play. You want to get a lot of tickets because each ticket you earn will be added to your scores at the end… Oh, and your Pokemon are only allowed to use one attack per game.” He pauses for a moment to adjust his glasses, making them more lopsided than they already were and then turns toward the members of Team Lilligant, mistaking them for his own team. “Go Tsareena…!” After another awkward silence, he speaks into the microphone once again. “You may all begin!”

Available Games

Shooting Gallery – A game where your Pokemon needs to shoot down as many of the moving Psyduck as they can within the time limit! Keep an eye out for those rare Ducklett’s because they are worth double points! (Don’t worry, they aren’t real Pokemon)

Pachinko – A life size version of the popular Japanese arcade game where instead of balls we use Pokemon! Can your Pokemon make it into the goal?

Haunted House – If your Pokemon enjoys scaring people then this is the game for you! How many people can they scare as they pass through?

Dunk Tank – It’s simple! Just soak the target to cause the seat to drop out from underneath the gardener inside and watch as they fall into the water!

BBQ – Who knew cooking was a game? Well, everyone needs to eat! Cook up as many hot dogs and burgers as you can to make the people happy but make sure they don’t burn!

Grip Test – This is a game for Pokemon with a strong grip! All they need to do is squeeze the metal bar as tight as they can!

Milk Bottles – Knock over as many milk bottles as you can! Just remember that it takes a very strong impact to get them to fall over!

Test of Strength – Use something hard to smash the platform with all your strength! The only problem is, there is no mallet.

Inflatable Obstacle Course – Smash your way through this obstacle course of fun! Try and get to the end as fast as you can!

Bottom of the Barrel – There is a prize waiting for you at the bottom of the murky water inside the barrel. Looks like you’ll need to somehow soak up all that water!

Break the Glass – Does your Pokemon have an amazing voice? This is your chance to see if your Pokemon can reach the perfect pitch to shatter as many cups made out of glass as they can!

Charge-up Game – The lights won’t turn on! Does your Pokemon have the ability to provide the charge that they need?

Blow the Sailboat – These miniature sailboats aren’t getting anywhere without a little help. Are you the one that will help them cross the finish line?

Rules:
1. Pick three games to play with your Pokemon.
2. Choose only one move to use per game. The move can be different for each game you choose.
3. The scores you receive for your games depends on the move you select, so choose wisely!
4. Please post your reply by September 10th.
When they arrived, Peony was outside to greet them with a curtsy as she accepted their vouchers (proudly displaying her new dress in the process). Jess glanced around to see the other gardeners lined up as well to welcome the rest of the trainers as they filed in - except for Persimmon who was upon the stage, seemingly more engrossed in his scientific notations than the events at hand. Eventually when everyone was gathered Poppy had to clear his throat to remind the scientist of their presence, and Persimmon glimpsed up, blinking briefly before grabbing the mic again in a panic, resulting in a nasty reverb.

When the noise had settled, Persimmon prattled on about how all the puzzles were apparently a diversion to occupy the participants while they set up the next phase of the competition, at which the other caretakers shuffled awkwardly, nervous sweatdrops forming as their comrade openly admitted they were just trying to buy time. Their unrepentant representative went on to explain the rules, punctuating with another long pause after mistakenly cheering on the wrong team as his own, before announcing they could all commence.

After that confusing speech, Jess joined the others in wandering the different game booths that had been erected in their absence, feeling Lilac growing frustrated beside her as none of them seemed particularly suited to her talents. She wondered if the prideful plant was beginning to somewhat regret her staunch decision to refuse any outside training assistance, and bent down to address the poor creature's concerns.

"Hey, I know this looks like it might be hard for you, but we'll just have to try our best. I've actually been saving something special that may help you out though..."

Jess laid down her pack and rummaged within, retrieving a Golden Fiddle that gleamed bright and bullion in the sun.

"There's a legend surrounding this fiddle, that it once belonged to the Devil himself. There's a different version than the one you may be familiar with though, a Gypsy folk tale that goes like this:

'A young women contacts the devil because she admires a rich hunter who ignores her. She sacrifices her family for the devil's violin to attract the hunter; her father becomes its body, her four brothers become the strings and her mother becomes the bow. In the end, the young woman is carried off by the devil when she refuses to worship him; the violin remains in the forest until it is found and taken by a travelling gypsy. He played, and as he played in thorp and town they laughed and wept just as he chose.'"

Jess gazed down at the instrument in her lap, upon which Lilac's eyes were also locked, deep in thought.

"They say the violin expresses the duality of laughter and tears, joy and sorrow and love and death. ...I think ultimately it's your choice whether you wish to see it as a curse, or a blessing."

Lilac lifted her stare to the girl, and nodded. She would receive this gift of her people - of her past - and carry on the tradition passed down through generations. To teach of pain but also the joy music can bring forth. She would tame this beast, and make it bend to her whim and will.

And so Jess raised the fiddle into what she hoped was the correct position, and began to play. She had no experience with string instruments, but as it wasn't the first time she'd utilized a mystical tool of its kind, she knew to expect intimate proficiency wasn't necessary, as the bow practically began to strum on its own, guided by whatever ghostly force still possessed its body. As the ancient melody filled the air, infusing it with all the heavy weight of its haunted history, Lilac picked up on its pattern as she accompanied with a soulful song of her own, soothing the old spirits' cries so they sighed in warmth and satisfaction, circling around her as she swayed in time before settling peacefully at her feet, restoring to dust and ashes.

Jess smiled as the spectral symphony drew to a close, cutting off just before the grand finale. Lilac thus turned her attention determinedly towards the eerie makeshift manor, now armed with the support of her ancestors and ready to spook some visitors with her new creepy companions' chorus. (Of course, she would alter the composition slightly so as not to assault anyone's actual life essence. Just enough to give them a good scare should do.)

"So now that we've got UNFINISHED SYMPHONY for the Haunted House... What else..." Jess scanned over the other options of sports to select from. "Hm, perhaps you could try to ABSORB all the water from the the Bottom of the Barrel? I know it's a lot, but I have faith you can handle it. As for the last one... Perhaps one of the shooting games? SOLARBEAM might be a bit overkill for the Psyduck one though, plus it's timed and that Attack requires time to charge... So why don't we go for the Milk Bottles instead?"

Lilac nodded in agreement, content with the plan. And so Jess wished her luck as she waddled off to take her place amongst the other contestants, intent on having a good time at least regardless of how well they fared.

OoC - Using 1x Golden Fiddle to teach Petilil UNFINISHED SYMPHONY.

His previous strategy had been less than successful, so now would be a good time for a change in tactics. Thinking up a new plan, Kei readied to lull the sumo wrestler Pokemon into a false sense of security before springing his trap.

As the next round of battle began, Kei started things off by slashing the air with his claws and spinning around cutely, shaking his flame-tipped tail in the process. The Swords Dance boosted his confidence greatly and pumped himself up physically as well, ready for combat. While this was unfolding, Makuhita sighed and ignored it, choosing to Focus his Energy instead. Once the two Pokemon were done preparing themselves, they squared off once again, much to the delight of Timburr and the Mankeys who wanted to see some action.

Kei dashed forward, ready to unleash his assault on the Makuhita. He shot forward an Ember which bounced harmlessly off of Makuhita’s Thick Fat. As he predicted, Makuhita smirked and took the bait, coming in close to Tackle Kei with his blobby belly. Luckily, Kei was ready for this and stood his ground. As the Makuhita was about to collide with him, Kei thrust a palm upward, clocking Makuhita in the chin with a Brick Break. The onlookers gasped in shock at the turn of events and Makuhita stumbled backwards surprised by the strike. With his opponent thrown off balance, Kei followed up his strike with a big Scratch across the chest.

Makuhita’s demeanor turned from cocky to serious in a hurry and glared down at Kei through slanted eyes. “Maku!” he cried out, planting his feet and Thrusting his Arms forward. His thrusts connected with Kei three times, pushing the Charmander backwards. Kei took a deep breath and prepared to blast the Makuhita in order to make up for his failed attempt before. However, Makuhita had other plans, scooping up some dirt and dust from the floor of the ring and threw a Sand Attack right in Kei’s eyes. Kei yelped, putting his hands over his eyes just as he shot out a Dragon Pulse, just barely grazing Makuhita’s shoulder.

With his vision now obstructed, Kei was in a bit of a bind even though he had the advantage in terms of health. Makuhita growled, rubbing his sore shoulder and prepared to take advantage of Kei’s sudden disability. Pulling back his other arm that wasn’t sore, Makuhita loomed over Kei, ready to unleash a Force Palm. What will Kei do?
Patches gasped and stood up the moment Kei’s eyes were filled with sand. “That’s not very nice!!” Mio ran in front of her to make sure her trainer didn’t interfere since this is Kei’s fight but Patches managed to stop herself on her own and sat back down. Ciri was completely asleep on the log next to Patches at this point and seemed to not even be waking up at the loud commotion within the ring. Patches looked down at the cotton bird next to her and smiled at how content she seemed to be at the moment. “Thank you for bringing us here, Ciri. If it weren’t for you I’d probably be missing Kei’s big moment right now.” She gives Ciri a light pat on the head and presses the button on a pokeball she now has in her other hand to return the little Swablu to her ball where she can rest. “Don’t let that bully win, Kei…” She says under her breath as she continues to watch the fight.

Kei was feeling pretty good after the Makuhita fell for his trick but it seemed that the Pokemon really started to step up their game after that. The sudden sand in his eyes was a problem and as soon as it happened he knew he would be at a major disadvantage. It sounds like the Dragon Pulse hit but Kei couldn’t see just how hard it hit. He needed to get his opponent on the same level as him so he decides to shoot off a Smokescreen before doing anything else. He hopes that the smoke will have that Makuhita dealing with the same handicap as him. Beyond that, he needed to think fast and normally he is pretty clear headed when thinking on the spot but his mind immediately went back to Stufful. He didn’t understand why he was being forced to do this and why they wouldn’t just leave Stufful alone. None of it makes sense to him and he isn’t enjoying any of this as much as the other Pokemon seem to enjoy watching. The more his thoughts race the more bothered by this entire situation he becomes which eventually leads to him finally making a choice, it’s time to just say screw it and go all in with Outrage!

After watching some of the young Sunkern get kidnapped by the enemy Jumpluff, Lucas couldn’t help but feel responsible as the Sunflora remained incapacitated. Recalling Horologie and Violette back into their Pokeballs, he sent out Ai, the shiny Kecleon, in turn to make use of her natural talents of disguise to infiltrate ahead. With instruction to blend in with the surroundings and make use of her natural Camouflage, Ai nodded and turned a different shade of green; seemingly becoming invisible to the naked eye as she blended with the leaves around her. She darted ahead to chase after the Jumpluffs who were going north into Roserade’s domain.

As Lucas prepared to follow his Kecleon companion into enemy territory, he turned to Petunia and asked for her to tend to the Sunflora, who were wounded both physically and emotionally. She quickly nodded without missing a beat. “Don’t worry, I’ve got this under control here. Go!” Lucas nodded back and headed back up the pathway that lead into Roserade’s domain for the third time today. With Budew at his side, keeping up as quickly as her small little legs could carry her, there was a determined expression on her face. She had taken her exile from her homeland in stride, but to mess with her newfound friends who had taken her in was the last straw. For now, she had a stem to pick with the Roserade queen.

After walking a short distance, Lucas and Budew arrived at a familiar fork in the road where they found Ai waiting for them. If they were to hang a right, it would take them directly into Roserade’s throne room. Where the left led was a good of guess as any, but as Ai seemed to indicate, it was the direction where the Jumpluffs had taken the Sunkern children. Lucas had a choice to make now. Budew stole angry glances in the direction of Roserade’s throne room, eager to give the queen a piece of her mind. Should they go confront the queen now, or look to rescue the Sunkern first?

TheKnightsFury:
Jayson was both impressed and annoyed that these bugs were so hard to take down, but in the very least, they were providing an excellent training opportunity for his own two bugs to get stronger. While they waited for his next orders, Jayson pulled out a rare candy and handed it to Spartacus to eat. As he did, the Scyther felt himself growing stronger and more capable. Jayson suggested for him to try out his newfound ability and gave Trieu orders to finish off the Karrablast as well.

As Trieu turned back to face the Karrablast once more, it stared back at her through labored breaths. Trieu darted forward, mandibles wide as she prepared to Bite it, and the Karrablast did all it could to Endure the hit, glowing red as it did so. It mustered up all of its remaining strength to Peck Trieu with its horn, a glancing hit that made the scorpion wince as she slipped behind the beetle and rammed it with a Feint Attack. There was nothing more Trieu needed to do as the Karrablast slumped over, defeated.

Meanwhile, Spartacus faced off against the Kricketune again, as the mustached opponent’s arms glowed bright with a powerful Fury Cutter energy. The Scyther now had an ace up his sleeve, spreading his wings and darting forward with great speed to ram into the Kricketune for a Wing Attack. Kricketune yelped in pain, the attack pushing it to the brink, its entire body enveloping in a green aura to channel the power of the Swarm. It retaliated with a very powerful Fury Cutter, striking Spartacus on the chest with incredible power. Spartacus hissed in pain as well, before slamming back into the cricket for a second Wing Attack. Spartacus panted heavily and watched as the battle was finally over. Kricketune fell on its back as the aura around its body faded away.

Spartacus has grown 4 levels!
Trieu has grown 5 levels!

With their first battle experience in the Cloud Forest now over, Jayson congratulated his exhausted Pokemon on a hard-fought battle. The two bugs would need a rest for now, but the options for their trainer were numerous. He could choose to explore the forest further or head into a different area entirely if he wished to do so.

lilbluecorsola:
Sensing her opponents’ desperation, Jess looked to wrap things up quickly as the hits continued to pile onto Comfey. Iris on the other hand was still sitting pretty in terms of health, but with the amount of energy she was spending, Jess didn’t want to take her chances in a war of attrition. With her pedal to the metal, she looked to end things with Steenee and Cherrim as quickly as possible and get on with their search for the missing Flabébé. She quickly called out her strategy to Iris, who turned and nodded in acknowledgement.

As she stared down the enraged flowers, Iris put everything she had into jumping and flipping herself in the air, the leafy bonnet on her head slicing through the air to whip up a Razor Wind. Normally by spreading the range of the targets included in a widespread attack some power is sacrificed, but Comfey was right behind Iris’ back, offering a Helping Hand to support the Sewaddle with some extra energy. The air whipped into small scythe-like cyclones that blew forward and slammed into both Steenee and Cherrim for considerable damage. After taking their lumps, the two opponents yelled out in unison and dashed forward in retaliation, Steenee Double-Slapping Iris four times while Cherrim hitting Comfey with a continuation of its Petal Dance.

Taking hits from their buffed-up opponents was no walk in the park either, as Iris and Comfey winced in pain. Iris was first to shake it off, repeating her previous flipping motion to slice through the Air once again and Slash Cherrim for considerable damage. As Cherrim looked like it was about to pass out, Comfey finished things off with a strong Vine Whip from her flowery tail. Cherrim slumped over, unconscious.

With only one opponent remaining, Iris stared down the angry Steenee. Its confusion seemed to have fully subsided at this point, but her enraged attack buff remained. Iris looked up at the sun above, the intense sunlight still beaming down overhead. The caterpillar grinned and began glowing, taking in solar energy at a rapid rate before yelling out as she blasted a powerful Solar Beam at Steenee, sending it flying into a tree behind it. Steenee slumped over, lying face down in the grass. Congratulations, Iris has grown 5 levels!

With the battle finally over, Comfey let out a deep sigh of relief. However, her respite did not last long, as thoughts of her missing comrade popped back into her head. She floated over to confront the unconscious Steenee, rolling it over so it was now face-up and proceeded to slap it over and over with her tail until it roused from its slumber. It woozily looked up at its defeaters with a scowl on its face. Comfey held up the petal from Flabébé’s flower and demanded to know where her friend had gone off to. Steenee simply smirked and laughed, before pointing to a direction further down the path and passing back out.

As there was no time to lose, Jess, Iris, Lance, and Comfey hurried off down the path through the orchard of fruit trees. It wasn’t long that after walking Jess began to notice a few ominous mushrooms growing on some of the tree trunks. That was the telltale sign of an unhealthy plant. Did they dare proceed forward or look to find another way around the orchard?

Naruxami:
Looking to take some time off from his hectic schedule and spend it with his Pokemon, Isaac stood at the entrance of the Cloud Forest accompanied by his Eevee, Vinny. The two of them were on a specific mission today; to find a special area of the forest that had been rumored to have a unique effect on Eevees and evolve them into a rare form. Vinny had considered this to be her ideal form as she felt one with nature; and as if on cue, twitched her nose uncomfortably as her trainer lit up a cigarette.

Somewhat repulsed by the smell, Vinny frowned until Isaac began to pepper her with compliments and adorned her with a flower behind her ear. Vinny eased off and the two were on their way after Isaac stomped out his cigarette. The deeper they got into the forest, the taller the trees appeared to become. It was a peaceful atmosphere as birds chirped ahead along with the buzzing of insects and the blowing of leaves in the trees above.

The two of them weren’t entirely sure of which way they needed to go, but fortunately for them they eventually came upon a fork in the road with a signpost. Some of the listed directions included other areas of the Cloud Garden, like the Stone Shrine and Galea Plains, while other directions pointed to places within the forest itself, like the trial captain’s cabin to the west. However, last but not least, there was an arrow that looked as if it had been added on after the sign had already been put in place, and it read “Mossy Rock”. This had to be what Isaac and Vinny were looking for, so they happily set off in that direction.

It was a bit of a hike through the forest as the terrain began to gradually slope upward a slight degree. The path wasn’t as clearly defined as the main trail that they were previously on, with several branches and shrubs obstructing their way every now and then. Eventually they arrived at a small clearing that was encircled by a dense wall of trees. The sky above was nearly blocked out by branches with the exception of a lone beam of sunlight that illuminated a large boulder in the middle of the clearing. Much like its namesake, the rock took a green hue as it was coated in a layer of moss. A few vines of ivy grew up and around the rock like veins.

As they entered the clearing and examined the scenery, a pungent odor began to fill the air. Vinny looked up at Isaac with a frown, almost expecting to see him lighting up with something other than a cigarette, but was confused to find that her accusations were false. A faint hissing came from behind the rock as a purple and white furry figure poked its head out in warning. After stepping out from its hiding place, its bushy tail, the source of the foul smell, raised up high above its body.

Patches:
Patches was outraged by the dirty trick played by the Makuhita, but was quickly reassured by Mio and Ciri. With his vision now obscured, Kei was in a bit of a bind as the Makuhita prepared to take advantage of the situation. He had become desperate, but on the other hand, he didn’t lose focus. If he was going to win for Stufful, he couldn’t afford to lose his composure. Since the tables had been turned against him, it was up to him to turn them right back. He quickly thought of a strategy to use against the Makuhita, as he saw the big yellow figure approach him through squinted eyes.

As the Makuhita reared up and prepared to attack, Kei blew forth another thick Smokescreen cloud that covered the ring. Makuhita thrust a Force Palm in Kei’s direction, but came up with air as the scrappy Charmander luckily rolled out of the way. With no options left but to release his inhibitions, Kei focused on the thought of these fighting-typed bullies who picked on Stufful day in and day out. A deep anger built up inside of him, the Charmander beginning to glow in a red aura as his eyes glowed red as well. Kei roared out in anger, unleashing his Outrage on the Makuhita, who stumbled back and hit the ropes. Makuhita grunted in pain before clapping his hands together to blow forth a Whirlwind that quickly blew away the smoke. As he did so, Kei burst forward once again and slammed into it with another burst of Outrage.

Makuhita was really on the ropes now, both figuratively and literally. As Kei’s anger subsided, he was suddenly left with a massive headache that left him wobbling in place. His vision had returned slightly, but was still seeing double through his confusion. Would he be able to finish off Makuhita before it could unleash one more attack in desperation?

Meetan - Ivan seemed to enjoy your response to his suggestion, you spoke your mind but still gave him what he asked for. He had no intention of abusing that in which he was given, mainly because he wants to keep his job, but still couldn’t help but feel like he had accomplished something nonetheless. “Why thank you, I’ll cherish your number and will for sure let you know if I hear anything.” After his reply, you go to exit the cabin while adding in one last comment for good measure and then head through the door. “Just my type.” Ivan whispers his thoughts under his breath after you’re out of sight and then goes back to playing around in his phone.

After you make your way outside, your Xtransciever goes off with a message “This is Ivan.”, so now you have his info as well. It’s not hard at all to find the Skiddo, considering it hasn’t moved. You’re careful as you approach, not wanting to upset the Pokemon any further than it already is but you still need to get its attention somehow so you slowly approach until it notices you. Skiddo stops ramming into the building and gives you that same look it had given you earlier, it just looks like it’s annoyed. You begin to talk to it and let it know that if it doesn’t want to show you, then maybe it would be willing to tell your Pokemon Axel, hoping that maybe it would find comfort in having another Pokemon to talk to. However, the look on its face doesn’t seem to soften at all, in fact, it’s brow is now creased in what appears to be frustration at you. As you place the Love Ball on the ground in front of it, it appears startled for a moment and then looks back at you as you hold your palms up in the air. At that point, its frustration reaches max levels and it begins to charge toward you! “Skiii!!” You don’t have time at all to react and are frozen in place but then it charges right past you, all you feel is the breeze its movement created.

Once you turn around you can see that once again it’s just ramming into the cabin, it seems that it had no intention of harming you at all. But now, it’s a little bit closer than it was and you notice something that you hadn’t before. Each time the Skiddo rams into the cabin, a few drops of something black flies out of its ears, it looks like it might be some kind of Sludge but it’s hard to tell since it won’t stop moving long enough for you to get a better look. You then look at the rest of the Pokemon and it seems to look a bit dirty but nothing too unusual, except for its hooves! Its hooves are black when they should be orange. Looking back at the drops occasionally coming out of its ears, it would seem that there is a good chance it probably couldn’t hear a word you were saying earlier. Also, looking around some more there are drops of this black Sludge looking stuff in the grass here and there that may potentially lead somewhere, possibly wherever the Skiddo came from, but it’s hard to tell from here if the drops are consistent enough to leave a direct trail. What will you do?

Though you could still only see part of your team, you made sure they were on top of guarding the flag. Your Staryu positioned itself next to your Tangrowth, providing light and an extra pair of eyes for any blind spots. Water bubbled up around Miapladicus’ gem, and Berue swung her vines out wide. They waited, but could only hear the chirping of far off bug Pokemon. Suddenly, there was the sound of scuffling feet against the dirt. Miapladicus fired of a water gun into the darkness, and the sound retreated farther away.

Louise began to run, strengthening her cranium with the power of her move. Looking behind her, she could see Miapladicus and Berue throwing attacks into the darkness, and the silhouette of something small running around the Illuminated area. Bracing herself, she swung the mouth on the back of her head into something hard. She heard a metallic rattle, as well as cry of pain. A growl came soon after, directly to her left. Louise charged up electricity in her fist. As she swung, it created enough light to see a pair of glowing red eyes. Lulu grabbed her attacking fist with a paw, wincing as she endured the hit. Louise felt the Lycanroc’s grip tighten.

A blinding light surrounded the battlefield. The Pokemon, as well as you and Madoka, shielded their eyes as the bright moon appeared in the sky once more. Directly underneath the glowing orb was Lunatone. It was spinning rapidly, but seemed to be slowing down. Eclipsing the moon had taken a lot out of it. Your vision cleared, and you spotted Elenchos face down on the ground, unmoving. Madoka’s flag had been bumped by Louise’s Iron Head, but still stayed upright in its stand. Carbink looked worse for the wear floating next to it. Godzilla looked shocked that the battlefield was lit up once again and he couldn’t continue teasing Berue and Miapladicus. Somewhat sheepishly, he ducked behind a stone lantern. Despite the delay, Madoka’s Lycanroc Countered Louise’s punch, sending her tumbling away from Madoka’s flag and toward the trees. From the other side of the field, Madoka waved at you and smiled.

Maskerade:

As quietly as possible, you weighed your options. Startling this Bunnelby would only lead you on another tiresome chase, you knew you had to remain undetected. You relayed your plan to your partner. Staryu seemed to understand almost immediately. Its previous experience gave it confidence, and it nodded firmly to you with the upper half of its body. Staryu shrunk before your eyes as it compressed itself with Minimize. Soon it was the size of a Joltik, and you almost lost sight of it as it began to head toward Bunnelby. Staryu, careful not to fall, maneuvered around rocks that now seemed the size of boulders. It approached the towering form of Bunnelby, whose pink tongue was still lapping up water. It was so far so good, even the Bunnelby’s large ears did not catch sign of Staryu’s movement. The crackling of the torches and the dripping of water did well to cover up any small sound Staryu may have been making. It edged around the fluffy Pokemon, careful to not touch even a hair. Upon reaching the scroll of paper, Staryu walked across it to unroll it. You held your breath as the paper crinkled. In the next moment, thoughts came to your mind that were not your own. There was no voice attached to the thoughts, and it was if you were seeing a crystal-clear picture of what Staryu was sending to you through Psywave. The sensation was odd, but you had experienced it before. Before the image in your mind completely disappeared, you read:

Quote:
I am the key to your next riddle, if you can first pass this test
Once you stand in my presence, you'll know you're either damned or you're blessed
Hurry, for soon, I will depart
Despite being alive without any heart.
I dance without legs, and I can cause you great pain
I'll dance day and night, but not in the rain
The more that I breathe, the larger I'll grow
Even without lungs, I breathe while I glow
While I live and I die, I can even baptize
But I've never had life like this riddle implies.
Staryu stepped off the piece of paper and it rolled back up with a snap. Bunnelby’s ears twitched and it was startled. It turned and looked right at you, but did not look as scared as you thought it might. Staryu resizes itself and prepares for the worst. Abandoning the paper and Staryu, it took off past you and down the path leading out of the cave. As it passed, you could have sworn you saw a smile on its face.

Staryu gains 2 levels!
Munchax gains 1 level!

(Riddle credit to Deo, because I suck at poetry and he doesn't <3)

They had finally overcome the bothersome bugs and were looking stronger for the experience, although both Pokemon were looking rather unhealthy. They both put on brave faces, Spartacus most of all ones not one to show when he was hurting. Jayson knew it though, they had both battled their hearts out and would need to swing by a Pokemon Center before they could head off in search of the first trial. He recalled that there was a Ranger's cabin on the Galea Plains, he could head there and heal up his Pokemon. He had no idea where the cabin actually was though so it was time to mount up and send out the scout. Jayson retrieved Spartacus and Trieu's Pokeball's and recalled the pair, they would slow him down now. Replacing them on his belt, Jayson selected another two Pokeballs and tossed them out, Atalanta the Dartrix and Boudicca the Mudsdale burst out to meet their trainer. Atalanta quickly arced around to perch atop Boudicca's head, her favoured position. Jayson gave the might Mudsdale a pat on the nose before pulling himself up onto her back, holding onto a couple of locks of her mane for support.

Jayson turned Boudicca back in the direction of the Galea plains, "Atalanta, fly ahead, keep an eye out for the Ranger's cabin, we will follow your lead." Atalanta took off and quickly rose up into the air. Jayson gave Boudicca a quick nudge and the Mudsdale let out a whinny before breaking out into a steady gallop.

It was a good thing that Ivan had kept his thoughts until Alice had gone, because overhearing them definitely would've made her blush. Not to mention, talking to one's self was the first sign of insanity, although Alice had crossed that section of crazy town long, long ago. Skiddo had obviously not gone anywhere, and she had been naive to think that approaching it gently might prevent her from becoming a target. Wrong.

It turned on her with speed, and all Alice could do was freeze and scream, shielding her tiny body feebly with her arms and head ducked behind them. Thank goodness, though, it was a warning charge, and one that had afforded her an observation not possible before. The blonde stood up, shaking like a leaf, Love Ball once again in hand and her bag put back on. Her whole body felt like jelly, and Alice knew that the adrenaline had sent her blood sugars through the roof. She supposed that was fine-- there was a lot of walking to be done, and they'd start to drop once the shock-horror subsided.

"Oh, oh shit-- there's something in your ears, and st- stuff. Fuck." The extra swear was more because of the nerves, breathing heightened. At that, Alice released Axel anyway. Time to make a plan. The pink Pokemon, after a moment, turned his head as if to regard her more obviously. The sleepyhead had sensed her distress. "Axel, that poor Skiddo has some gunk in its ears and on its hooves and stuff. Could you tell it I'm going to ask the ranger for help, and try to use your psychic powers to dislodge some of it? I left Samantha, so she can't try with heal bell."

As if on queue, the creature suddenly moved its limbs a bit, hovering above the ground as a psychic aura surrounded him. Alice took a moment to pet the Abra's head, a gesture that soothed her as much as it showed the Pokemon some affection. She kissed his forehead as he did whatever wonderful magic Pokemon did, and moved to dip her head back into the cabin.

"Hey, Ivan? The Skiddo outside has some kind of nasty stuff on its ears and hooves and things. I think it's trying to knock it off by ramming the cabin. My Abra's telling it I've called you and trying to help but I'm not sure how well he'll be able to do anything. There's a trail of the stuff all over the grass, so we might go and check it out incase Furfrou ends up there, yeah?" Alice moved back out of the door, still holding it as if expecting him to get up and assist - if it was needed - before she and her team ran off to play detective. "Oh, and I got your text, just so you know."

It was hard to miss the woman who was very clearly struggling to attach a notice to the sign with a piece of tape. On top of it, it was a single piece of tape that she just kept repeatedly trying to attach so it was losing its stickiness too. Once you finished checking out what she was doing you looked at the sign once again, only this time you notice that the envelope that you need is clearly sticking out of the top of the sign. After repeatedly trying to grab it however, it becomes clear that this woman is going to be perfectly in the way until she is done with what she needs to do. She’s clearly not going to be getting anywhere fast with that overused single piece of tape, so this is where you come in.

You offer a hand and the woman stops what she’s doing and while still holding the notice she takes a moment to look back and forth between you and the Ferroseed at your side. “Oh, I’m definitely not going to turn down some help. At this rate, I’m going to be here all day.” As soon as she finishes that sentence, two spikes from the Pin Missile fly through the air and directly into the paper, snatching it out of the woman’s hands and sending it flying against the wood on the sign. That notice is definitely pinned on there really well now. The woman had jumped from the sudden attack, it had all happened so fast and out of nowhere. “Wow, you have a very eager Ferroseed there. I’m glad that attack hit the paper and not my hands.” She laughs nervously before she continues. “Thank you very much for the help! I really appreciate it!” Once she is done with thanking you and Pridwen she walks off to another part of the garden leaving you with that envelope. You take the envelope and open it up ready for another clue only this time there is a golden voucher inside along with a note. “Congratulations on making it this far! Please bring this voucher back to the center of the main garden.” Since the instructions are clear, you do just that and exit Queen Lilligant’s domain with Pridwen leading the way and rolling to the center of the main garden.

Please read my second post for the final round of the scavenger hunt.

The woman had only just finished her sentence as a pair of thorns flew forth and snatched the notice from her hands, pinning it securely to the wood to her and Alex's surprise. As the woman gave a nervous laugh and thanks before leaving, the trainer turned to the Ferroseed and gave his head a slow shake.

"Good job, but next time wait for my signal. That coulda gone very bad there, may have ended up in us being thrown out the garden." he admonished the steel pokemon as he reached for the envelope and opened it, before reading the contents. A voucher of sorts, telling him to return to the centre? With Pridwen leading the way once more, and Alex starting to think if the Ferroseed was getting more nimble, the pair returned to the main stage, to find that it had transformed into a festival of sorts with numerous attractions.

Handing the voucher to Lilligant's captain, and discovering the scavenger hunt was a wild goose chase to set up, he realised that many of the attractions required a pokemon with a variety of techniques, while the Ferroseed...hadn't much in the way of training. "Oh jeez..."

The rules of this event were simple enough. Three games, one attack per game, earn tickets from each game, and they'll be added to your score. With his healthy lead, Alex nevertheless had a challenge ahead of him as he consulted the grass type's moveset and each game. The Thorn Seed lacked any limbs of any sort (much to the Ferroseed's chagrin), and his natural movepool lacked anything of sheer strength, but what he did have was an almost perfectly round body, a surprisingly sharp eye with hardened projectiles thanks to the thorns studding said body, and enough mobility to get around on practically any surface. Being a pokemon which naturally resided in caves and were used to rolling up solid rock helped.

"Not to worry Prid, I think we can work with what you have," he reassured the ovoid who peered around a little warily. First things first, the pachinko attraction. What with the aim being to reach a goal down a number of pegs, the Ferroseed's natural iron barbs would surely help him keep a stable grip, and he could easily harden himself in order to keep composure when bumping into any of the obstacles and retain some clarity of sight. Next, the shooting gallery. Pridwen had already proven himself surprisingly quick on the draw with pin missile, and wasn't that funny looking Pineco there too? He figured a little friendly competition between two kindred sessile organisms could help out there. Finally, those milk bottles. They appeared to be surprisingly solid and heavy, but Alex was sure that if the Ferroseed built up speed with rollout and got to maximum power then the impact of what was essentially a living cannonball should surely knock a lot of them over, if not all at the correct angle. It was only a matter of seeing whether he could overcome the handicap the Ferroseed had to determine whether this would keep his lead strong or let it slip.

For a brief moment, Rorik expected a fight. The way Bunnelby perked itself up startled not only the Professor but Staryu as well, who was quick to reverto to its usual size, ready for battle... but the herbivore instead dashed past them back the way it'd come.

Was it... smiling?

Rorik put nothing past him anymore. For all he knew, the rabbits could have been playing him like a fiddle all this time, or someone controlling them - whichever the case, what mattered was that they were finally by themselves, with no more running and chasing others around. They could finally take a moment to themselves, albeit a brief one - because even now, the next clue urged them to hurry.

Rorik approached the starfish and placed a hand on its "head" as he went over the riddle in his mind.

"Good job Staryu, you'd make quite the Heimlan spy," he said, before remembering that the Northern Army never employed stealth, but rather viking-like brute force. Still, the compliment stood.

He glanced around the eerie cave, so natural in its perfection and yet undeniably explored before, on account of the many torches that lined the walls. There was nothing around them but the four elements - the torches' flames, the rocky earth, the stagnant air and the pool of water. If only for that absence of anything else, the answer to the riddle had to be appropriately simple... and yet, he was struggling.

"Something that breathes and dances, but is not alive... It grows, and it glows, and it fades with time as it does with rain."

There was an elegance to the words that felt as sort of a reward - as if the previous riddles had been simpler to test his wit, and now that he'd proven himself, they turned to rhyme, much like a Pokémon's evolution. It was hard not to feel flattered, even if it was completely unintentional.

And although he'd never heard the verses per se before, the logic conveyed was not entirely foreign to him. He'd once met someone who said some very similar things.

Old Agnes...

Heiml was the coldest region of the Pokémon World, but even the northern land had its share of specialists on exotic Types. He fondly remembered the elder Agnes, once a revered Fire-Type expert and Gym Leader, now long-retired, who treasured the rare flames found in the ice-covered region. Even now, her legacy endured thanks to her two children - Helga, the youngest, was the current Fire-Type Leader and inherited the Edda City Gym, whereas Bernhardt, the eldest, served as Gottfried's Elite Four of Fire.
Agnes always spoke of her love for flames with a passion similar to the one patent in the rhyme, describing them as almost-living, almost-human. They would breathe, they would dance, they could bestow life or bring death; they could be a blessing from the heavens, the Baptismal fire of Asgard, or a curse from the depths of hell, the eternal inferno of Hel.

"Fire. It is the most ephemeral of the elements, but the most dynamic. Of everything that surrounds us, nothing else fits the rhyme's description, does it?"

Staryu seemed to agree, even if the answer was something it was not particularly fond of. The starfish preferred the lasting wonders of the world, as opposed to those who didn't linger - it felt no attraction towards the frail thing that was fire. But it, too, could thing of no other answer.

Rorik reached for his belt again and retrieved a PokéBall. If they were going to search, the more the merrier, now that actual running wasn't involved.
In a flash of light, Munchlax emerged once more, yawned and took a lazy glance around the cave.

"I'm sorry for bothering you again," Rorik said with surprising honesty. It was probably something he'd never have said back when they'd started this adventure, but Munchlax had already done so much for them, it was hard not to feel thankful.

He made an encompassing motion then relayed his instructions. The sooner they solved this new mystery, the sooner they'd get to the bottom of all this. It was about time they did.

"I need you to examine the cave's torches. Let's split up to cover more ground; the first to find anything of note will let the others know."

But if the correct answer turns out to be anything other than fire, I'll be at a complete loss. If I'm wrong here, the riddler will finally have outsmarted me... Could that be the case?

You steadied each fence-post as Timburr hammered them in with its log. After you had placed a few posts, you hear a gruff voice from behind you. A man in work overalls has approached you, holding a heavy looking mallet.

“Hey what do you think yer-!” The man stops himself as he sees a scared look on Timburr’s face. He approaches it gently and tries to understand the Pokemon as it explains through a series of sounds and gestures. It points to you and Rotom several times, and flexes its muscles proudly. “I see, so the whole crew called off today…And you were the only one who showed up…and this fella offered to help you out.” He laughs and slaps you on the back in a friendly manner.

“Well, thanks pal, this little guy here is definitely getting a promotion,” he hands over an envelope with your name on it. “I think this was for you, sorry you had to do some manual labor to get it!”

You open the envelope and retrieve a golden piece of paper with black text printed on it.

“Way to go! Bring this voucher to the main garden. See you soon! –Poppy”

Please read Patches' second post for the final round of the scavenger hunt.

Haunted House – If your Pokemon enjoys scaring people then this is the game for you! How many people can they scare as they pass through?

Break the Glass – Does your Pokemon have an amazing voice? This is your chance to see if your Pokemon can reach the perfect pitch to shatter as many cups made out of glass as they can!

Charge-up Game – The lights won’t turn on! Does your Pokemon have the ability to provide the charge that they need?

Rules:
1. Pick three games to play with your Pokemon.
2. Choose only one move to use per game. The move can be different for each game you choose.
3. The scores you receive for your games depends on the move you select, so choose wisely!
4. Please post your reply by September 10th.
"Adorable."

"Yes, you have said that."

"Absolutely adorable."

"Multiple times."

"I wanna adopt that little Timburr."

"And now you're getting weird."

Seeing Rotom side-eye him as they walked/floated back into the main garden, Drew could acknowledge that yes this was maybe a little obsessive, but damn, that Timburr had been so sweet and... well, adorable. He couldn't help it, especially considering how annoying (and, he was beginning to suspect, pointless) the other parts of the scavenger hunt had been. Enough was probably enough, though, if only so Rotom didn't shock him.

Passing through into the central hub of the gardens, the differences immediately stood out to the duo. Though the stage still stood proud, scattered around the rest of the space were various stalls and carnival games, ranging from classic shooting galleries and obstacle courses to more odd-ball ones like a barbeque area and... a haunted house? Drew risked a glance to gauge Rotom's mood, only to find the poltergeist focused intently on the house with a mischievously gleeful grin that Drew honestly hadn't seen in a while.

...This would not end well.

After turning in the vouchers, it took a reminder from Poppy to get the scientist guy - too invested in whatever research in a way that reminded Drew a bit of his friend, Terrell - to take the stage. The reverb that ensued his frantic lunge for the mic was as unwelcome as expected, but Drew had to say he was a little surprised at how blatantly the scientist guy admitted to the 'stalling' that took place during the scavenger hunt. Which, in hindsight, meant Rotom wasn't to blame for the stereo thing, huh. Guess he owed the Plasma Pokémon an apology for that, especially since Rotom realized that as well, if the angry rippling of his form meant anything.

Actually, that made Drew a little mad too, now that he thought about it. Either that adorable Timburr was in on it the whole time, or they purposefully set that little guy up to fail if Drew hadn't been there. He couldn't quite decide which was worse.

Something to worry about later, though. For now, they had carnival games to win.

"Rotom," he started, only to be cut off by a somewhat manic Rotom.

"I am doing the haunted house."

"Rotom, I was just-"

"No, I am going to do the haunted house."

"Rotom! I was agreeing with you!"

"I literally don't care I am-" Rotom blinked as the words sunk in. "Wait what."

Drew rolled his eyes. "You are literally a poltergeist. It's perfect for you; just be yourself and you'll kill it." A beat. "Preferably not literally."

"Oh," the ghost said sheepishly. "Ok, then, what else? I'm thinking the charge thing."

"No yeah, it would be stupid not to do that. And for the third thing I'm thinking the glass? You can cause an uproar and break all the shit."

"Ooh, I like that plan. So, I Astonish the Haunted House with my haunting skills, Discharge the charge game thing, and Uproar on the Glass?" he asked to make sure.

"Sounds like a plan," Drew grinned. "Go break a leg." A beat. "Wait, please don't actually break anyone's leg."

Melissa – As you searched the vases you really wished you had some light on you of some kind, but it couldn’t be helped since you were only allowed to bring one Pokemon into this challenge. After searching for a bit, a teenager managed to somehow break one of the very large and heavy vases. You can’t imagine how she possibly could have broken it, since these vases are so heavy that even just lifting one by yourself feels impossible. She must have been completely leaning all of her body weight into it or something. As you walked over to help, Vine returned to assess the situation and seemed pretty annoyed after he realized that it was that girl who caused all of the ruckus and shot the girl a grumpy look to show just how annoyed he was.

After seeing that the teen was clearly distressed over not being able to fix the vase on her own, you walk over in order to offer a hand. “Oh! Thank you so much!” You grab one of the vases halves and lift it up back into a standing position and she does the same which brings them together. While you are both leaning into your halves, Vine decided to take a look at the flowers that were once in the vase and are now gathered beside the teen and immediately noticed a pink envelope that is resting inside of a Ziploc bag. Knowing that is what you two need, he decides to help by grabbing it and bringing it out of the way in order to hand to you later. The girl eventually pulls away from the vase and it appears to be all in one piece again. “Wow, I couldn’t have fixed it without your help, I’m very grateful!” The teen goes to turn around but for some reason she loses her footing for a moment and takes a few steps backwards in order to regain her balance, tripping over Vine in the process. Vine finds himself knocked over once again while still holding onto the envelope. The girl manages to catch herself before going down and turns around toward Vine. “I’m so sorry little guy! I didn’t mean to trip over you! I hope you’re alright!” After a few more apologies she thanks you once more before wandering away to sight see some more. After Vine hands you the letter, you take it out of the Ziploc bag and open it up. Inside is a golden voucher as well as a note included with it. “Great job making it this far! Please come back to the center of the main garden and bring the voucher with you!” After reading that, you and Vine leave Queen Bellossom’s domain and head for the center of the main garden.
"Oh! Thank you so much!"

Melissa flashed the other girl a grin and lifted half of the broken vase to lean against the other half, while Vine grabbed the Ziploc bag with the next clue. Eventually, they both cautiously pulled away from the vase, watching to make sure it was sealed back together.

"Wow, I couldn't have fixed it without your help, I'm very grateful!"

"No problem," Melissa replied as the girl turned and lost her footing. Melissa immediately reached out, but the girl managed to catch herself, turning towards Vine.

"I'm so sorry little guy! I didn't mean to trip over you! I hope you're alright!"

Vine reluctantly accepts her apology and, after a few additional apologies, she thanks Melissa once more and wanders away. Melissa glanced questioningly at Vine once the other girl was gone. Vine glanced away and huffed, waving the Ziploc in Melissa's general direction.

"Let's see what the next clue is."

Melissa plucked the Ziploc from Vine's hand, opening it to reveal a golden voucher along with a note.
Great job making it this far! Please come back to the center of the main garden and bring the voucher with you!
"Back to the center of the garden then, I guess," she said, exchanging a look with Vine and leading the way back.

Available Games

Shooting Gallery – A game where your Pokemon needs to shoot down as many of the moving Psyduck as they can within the time limit! Keep an eye out for those rare Ducklett’s because they are worth double points! (Don’t worry, they aren’t real Pokemon)

Grip Test – This is a game for Pokemon with a strong grip! All they need to do is squeeze the metal bar as tight as they can!

Milk Bottles – Knock over as many milk bottles as you can! Just remember that it takes a very strong impact to get them to fall over!

Rules:
1. Pick three games to play with your Pokemon.
2. Choose only one move to use per game. The move can be different for each game you choose.
3. The scores you receive for your games depends on the move you select, so choose wisely!

Melissa handed her voucher to Peony, as requested, and then listened as one of the other gardeners explained the next part of this round. She couldn't help laughing under her breath when he transparently told the participants that the scavenger hunt was mainly a distraction so the gardeners had time to set up the actual games, but she eagerly eyed the games once he told them the rules. So, three games with Vine alone and only a single move per game; which ones could they win the easiest?

Melissa hummed as the speaker let them go. "You don't have a lot of moves, but that's okay." Vine glanced at her with a raised brow, though she didn't notice it, already busy trying to determine which three games they would play. "Magical Leaf should work pretty well for the Shooting Gallery, I'd think. Maybe the Dunk Tank?" Vine shook his head, pointing at the directions. "Oh. You have to soak them before they fall? Nevermind then."

Melissa hummed again, thoughtfully this time, as they looked from game to game. She considered Blow the Sailboat for a moment, since Vine did have Twister, but she shook her head. Probably not the best idea, to be honest.

"Okay, how about Wrap for the Grip Test and then Iron Tail for the Milk Bottles?"

Vine considered it for a moment, before shrugging and leading the way to the Shooting Gallery. Sounded good enough to him.

War of the Roses

Team Lilligant

Rorik – Before heading over to any of the games, you pause to think about the connection between you and Staryu that has managed to get you this far, not only in this event, but through several other adventures as well. After deciding it’s finally time for your Staryu to grow, you use the water stone which leads to the evolution you expected but with an added unexpected result. The sapphire colored gem was unusual for this Pokemon and must be the work of the bond you two have shared up to this point. Now, with your newly named Stahl, you finally head over to your first game, the Charge-up game. This game is a bit different than the others, mainly because it doesn’t look like a game so much as several strings of lights that are beautifully decorating the stage and are plugged into several generators that just need to be turned on. However, there is a ticket dispenser displayed next to the generators so this really must be a game.

Stahl begins to use Thunderbolt on one of the generators while concentrating very hard in an attempt to put just the right amount of electricity into it. Once the attack ends, a gauge that was once at 0% has risen all the way up to 90%! Tickets begin to pour out of the dispenser and once they’ve finally stopped you’ve managed to collect 32 tickets from this game! Stahl then quickly moves onto the next game which is the Shooting Gallery. The music begins to play as soon as you approach, signaling that the game has begun, it’s a good thing you’ve already gone over your strategy in advance because Stahl knows exactly what to do as they watch the Psyduck’s go by, waiting for the Ducklett’s that offer the most points. Finally, their wait pays off and a perfect mix of both Psyduck and Ducklett begin to slowly move into view and that is when Stahl uses Swift on their targets with great success, considering there was no way they could miss. Every single Ducklett as well as a good number of Psyduck’s are knocked down causing the ticket dispenser to unload a bunch of tickets as a reward. Once the tickets finally stop, you grab and count them, this time you’ve managed to get 40 more tickets. Finally, you head over to your last game which is the Dunk Tank. A jolly looking gardener in swim trunks who had volunteered himself for this is sitting inside the tank, when you get a closer look the guy seems to resemble the maintenance guy from earlier, how strange. Before you can think about it for too long, Stahl blasts the target next to the tank with a Hydro Pump causing the man to plunge into the water that he was once hovering over. You walk over to the ticket dispenser for this game and grab the last of your tickets, it seems like you also got 40 this round!

Lucas – Having enjoyed carnival games as a child, you were actually looking forward to seeing how this round would play out. You take a moment to look over all of the games and think about what Horologie may excel at and once you’ve reached your decision, you let her in on the plan. She nods and then heads into the Haunted House as her first game. She passes a few of the tourists on the way in and then finds a good spot to hide, with her rear lined up just right for her tail to get to work trying to Astonish guests who hadn’t already seen her. Her tail begins to bite and snap at the air toward unsuspecting guests as they make their way through and successfully manages to scare every single person that walks by! Eventually, the lights come on, signaling that her time is up and she heads back to where you are which is right next to the ticket dispenser that has a long continuous stream of tickets flowing out of it. When it finally stops, you collect your 40 tickets and head over to the next game.

You arrive at the Shooting Gallery game next, which has a volunteer placing the last Psyduck on the moving belt after several had been knocked down prior to your arrival. Once the volunteer notices you they press a button and the music begins to play at the same time the ducks begin to move. Horologie walks right up and just blasts all of the Psyduck’s that are currently on the stage away with a bright Signal Beam. When the attack ends, there are still more Psyduck’s making their way into view as well as some Ducklett’s that weren’t visible at the time of attack. The tickets begin to roll out of the dispenser and this time you’ve collected 20. The last game you go over to is the Charge-up Game and once you get close it doesn’t look much like a game. There are several generators with various strings of lights that are decorating the stage plugged into each of them. One of the generators already has a decent charge so you have Horologie focus on a second generator that is next to it and at 0%. Horologie gives the generator a strong Thunderbolt which brings the gauge all the way up to 90% before the ticket dispenser begins to spit out some tickets for you. Once you collect these tickets and count them, you find that you have received 36 tickets.

Alex – After reassuring Pridwen that even a Pokemon that has no limbs can handle these games, you explain the strategy. The first game of choice is Pachinko. You approach the life size arcade game and Pridwen is as enthusiastic as ever and charges right in after Hardening his body up a bit. He uses his Iron Barbs to keep himself steady and build momentum. He somehow manages to build a bit too much momentum though and begins to hit peg after peg. Fortunately, since his body was harder than usual, none of it hurt but he was having a hard time regaining control after hitting that first peg because he just bounced into another and another. Despite his loss of control, however, he still seems to be enjoying himself in there. Eventually, he ends up going through one of the goals and although it’s not the jackpot, it’s still something and tickets begin to immediately dispense. You grab them and count them up to find that you have received 24 tickets.

Once Pridwen rolls out of the large arcade game, you both head over to the shooting gallery where the person who is running the game had just finished up with putting it back together after the last round. Once they are done, they step away and press the button that begins the music that signifies that the game has begun. Pridwen shoots his Pin Missile at any and all Psyducks he sees, as well as the occasional Ducklett ultimately only missing a few Psyducks in the end but doing great overall, which is to be expected after how accurate he was at shooting that paper out of that woman’s hands earlier. Tickets begin to dispense and this time you’ve collected 38 more! Pridwen is feeling pretty pumped and doesn’t really wait around for you as he rolls on over to the Milk Bottles with you chasing behind. Once he arrives he spins in place for a bit in order to build momentum before flying forward and into the bottles with a Rollout. He smashes into them but everything happens pretty slowly after that, he came to a dead stop once he was against the bottles and the two bottles that his body is up against slowly but surely tumble backwards and into a couple more knocking them over along with them. The ticket dispenser gets to work and rewards you with another 18 tickets.

Stay tuned for more details...

Team Tsareena

Chroma – You begin by throwing an empty Potion bottle you had found at Persimmon out of frustration. At that exact moment, Persimmon dropped the crumpled paper he was reading and bent down in order to pick it up, which caused the bottle to fly directly over him and tumble off the other side of the stage. He stood back up and continued to read his notes while slowly stepping down from the stage without having noticed a thing. After that, you go to your first game which is the Grip Test. Your Tangrowth knows exactly what to do and goes right up to the bar and wraps it with its long vines then uses Constrict with all of its might! Eventually, a little bell goes off indicating that it’s the end of the test and looking at the score it seems like Berue got a score of 88/100! The ticket dispenser begins to dispense tickets and you grab them all as it ends, looks like you got 35 tickets from this game.

Next up is the Test of Strength game where it’s time for your Tangrowth to show how strong she is. Berue walks up and stands next to the platform, staring at it for a moment. Then she begins to perform a perfect Swords Dance in order to pump herself up for this test. With her attack stat now raised, this is the moment where she would normally hit the platform, but without a mallet she doesn’t really have anything to hit it with so instead, she just jumps onto the platform which causes the little ball to raise a bit but unfortunately, not much. The ticket dispenser gives you 8 tickets for this game. From here, you move onto the Haunted House which you both seem to be pretty excited about. Once the plan is in place, Berue heads inside and finds a place next to a few plants and waits for people to begin walking through. As the first group approaches, Berue gets excited and leaps out from her hiding place and begins to give the best Frenzy Plant she can manage. She may have been a bit too enthusiastic about it however, because now there are so many vines all over the place that everyone is certainly freaked out but they are also tripping every which way. After realizing that several people have fallen over, Berue retracts her vines and makes her way back outside where tickets are now being dispensed. You collect a total of 10 tickets from this game.

Alice – Trying to forget how much Persimmon had made you cringe, you and Farren make your way over to the games where you can distract yourself from it. As you approach the gardener who is running the Shooting Gallery, you are the first contender to greet them and they are surprised for a moment but also delighted and return your good manners with a smile as they press the button that starts the game. The music begins to play and the Psyducks start to slowly roll by on the conveyer belt that moves them. Farren gets in the zone quickly and starts to use their Pin Missile on every Psyduck he sees, he even manages to hit a couple Ducklett’s that found their way into the mix. Once the game ends the tickets stream out of the dispenser and it looks like Farren won you 38 tickets for this game!

Moving on, it’s time for the Inflatable Obstacle Course and the person who usually runs this is currently leaning against it while sleeping. It would seem that you’re the first and only pair that actually want to give this one a go and the volunteer got tired of waiting. Farren hops onto the inflated course which causes it to shake, waking up the resting worker who now just looks like they are excited that someone is actually playing their game. They raise their arm up in the air and then drop it with a swift chopping motion in order to signal for Farren to start. He immediately goes into his Rollout and plows between and over any blown-up blockades standing in his way. Once he reaches the end the volunteer blows a whistle and presses a few buttons in a device their holding then suddenly the ticket dispenser begins to give you your reward. This time you’ve collected 36 more tickets! Now you’re off to your final game which is Pachinko! Farren seemed to be pretty enthusiastic about this one after getting a decent amount of tickets already and he charges right into this one with Gyro Ball. He entered through a small opening and then rapidly rolled through the game, keeping an eye out for pegs that stood in the way in an attempt to alter his course. He has his sights set on the jackpot as he rolls and isn’t about to let anything stop him. Finally, he finishes and he made it right into the main goal! The ticket dispenser bursts a bunch of tickets out, this time rewarding you with 40 tickets!

Team Bellossom

Jessica – You notice that Lilac was beginning to feel frustrated as she looked around at the games surrounding you both. It was clear that she felt like none of the games were suited to her and so you felt that now was the perfect time to bring out a little gift you had been saving for her. The Golden Fiddle played a very ominous tune that held Lilac’s attention and filled her with the knowledge needed in order to gain a new skill. It didn’t take long at all before she could use that skill since the first place you both went was to the Haunted House. Lilac entered the building and found the perfect place to set up, she sat on top of a ‘haunted’ piano that was playing all on its own and began to join in by singing her Unfinished Symphony. The melody was something capable of causing chills to go through people who weren’t even inside of the Haunted House as it echoed out of the entrance. As people explored, there was an unsettling energy surrounding them causing them to feel more on edge than they normally would. Throughout the house, every little noise or movement within would cause them to jump. Once Lilac finished her performance she came back outside to meet back up with you and the ticket dispenser got to work spitting out tickets which resulted in a total of 38.

Now you and Lilac go over to the Bottom of the Barrel game where there is murky water filled all the way to the top of a barrel. Lilac does what she can and begins to Absorb as much of the water out as she can manage. There are rings around the inside of the barrel with short messages that are revealed as the water gets lower. “Not bad.” Is the first which is followed by, “Half way there!” and then, “Almost there!” which is the point in which the water stopped lowering. Lilac tried very hard but didn’t manage to get all of the water out of the barrel. Still, you are rewarded with 30 tickets! Last up for you and Lilac is the Milk Bottle game. Lilac gets a good look at all of the milk bottles as she charges up her Solar Beam in order to hopefully maximize her chances of success. After she is all charged up, she lines herself up just right and then blasts those bottles away with a powerful beam of sunlight! Every single bottle displayed manages to slowly fall over, even they weren’t able to continue standing after that impact. The ticket dispenser begins to dispense the last of your tickets and this time you receive 40 tickets!

Melissa – Despite not having as many moves as some of the other Pokemon here, there were still several games that Vine could excel at. You both walk over to the Shooting Gallery and are greeted by a smiling volunteer with a button in their hand. As soon as you both get over there, they press the button which causes the music to start playing and the Psyduck’s to start moving. Vine doesn’t even need to concentrate, he knows that his leaves will do all the work for him and so, he doesn’t wait and sends off his Magical Leaves to do their job. And that is what they do, each leaf perfectly hits every single Psyduck as well as the few Ducklett that make their way into view. In the end, the tickets are dispensed and you collect a total of 40 tickets!

Once you both finish up with that game, it takes some thinking before you can decide on what to do next. The Dunk Tank and Blow the Sailboat game both don’t feel quite right so in the end you settle on the Grip Test and Milk Bottles games. Vine goes over to the Grip Test first and uses his strongest Wrap on the metal bar, it’s clear he isn’t going to let go of that bar until he reaches the best possible score. Eventually, a bell goes off to signal the games end and a score is displayed at 100/100 points! Vine’s super strong grip managed to hit the jackpot in this one and the tickets poured out of the nearby machine, rewarding you with another 40 tickets! Now it’s time for the last game which for you two is going to be the Milk Bottle game. You and Vine approach the game and it appears to be easy, just a bunch of regular looking milk bottles that probably aren’t that hard to knock over. Vine is feeling a bit overconfident after getting perfect scores on both of the previous games and so he runs up to these bottles and smacks into them hard with his Iron Tail. When his tail makes contact, it’s almost like smashing into a steel wall, what on earth are these bottles made out of!? The bottles his tail hit only slowly begin to fall over after a moment of pause after impact. In the end, only a few of the bottles end up falling over and the tickets are dispensed for Vine’s work immediately. This time, you collect 18 more tickets!

Stay tuned for more details...

Team Roserade

Drew – You couldn’t help but express how adorable you found that Timburr to be despite Rotom’s slight annoyance with it. Eventually, after the next series of announcements that explained the games as well as a bonus explanation about how all of the obstacles had been set up on purpose, you aren’t really sure what to think. But, right now you have some games to play so that’s something to worry about another time. First on your list is of course the Haunted House, which Rotom seems to be the most excited about since he was basically born for it. After arriving at the house, Rotom floats on inside and completely takes over all of the electrical things found within, from the lights, the speakers, and even the electrical animatronics. Rotom even added their own effects in order to Astonish the guests within. In the end, many screams were heard and several guests ran out of the house with pure terror on their faces. Rotom seemed to have a fun time for a while in there before finally coming back out and after their exit, the ticket dispenser rewarded you both with 40 tickets for a job well done.

Now that the most exciting game is finished, it’s time to move onto the Charge-up Game. As you approach, you realize this ‘game’ really just looks like a few generators that are turned off with lights that are decorating the stage plugged into them. You notice that two generators already have some charge but there is a third that is currently at 0% so you and Rotom decide that’s probably the best option. Rotom hits the generator with a Discharge and the charge is practically instantaneous, it goes from 0% all the way up to 100% in a flash, you couldn’t even tell if it hit any numbers in between. The nearby ticket dispenser began to spit out a bunch of tickets, once you count them it looks like you’ve received another 40! Moving onto the final challenge, you and Rotom now have many glass cups set up in front of you, it looks like no one has broken any yet so they are all still there just waiting to be shattered and Rotom begins to do just that by causing an Uproar. The Sound coming from the uproar is something that makes everyone nearby want to cover their ears and the ground begins to vibrate along with it which begins to shake all of the cups and before long, the majority of them just begin to shatter simultaneously. In the end, only a few cups remain intact and after the tickets are done rolling out of the dispenser, you have received 38 more!

War of the Roses

The sun had begun to set over the Cloud Garden as the sky above the Rose Garden turned a pastel shade of orange. It was a nice complement to all of the pinks, reds, and blues that decorated the flowerbeds across the area. As the contestants finished up their carnival games and collected their tickets, they gathered back in the center where they found the gazebo had been transformed to accommodate a stage. The generators from the Charge-Up Game were ready to go and with a flip of a switch, a myriad of lights shown down from the gazebo’s rafters. While most of the contestants pooled their tickets together and handed them in to their team representatives, there was a growing line for the bathroom which had caused some of the contestants to miss their turn in the final round of games as Elka had yet to come back out.

Once everyone had settled down, the four gardeners took the stage once again, where Persimmon walked back up to the mic. Before he could even begin speaking, volunteers made their way through the crowd to collect any trash or recycling. Persimmon cleared his throat and fumbled through some notes he pulled out of his pocket. Squinting at the crumpled piece of paper, he addressed the audience, “Thank you all for participating in the fun and games portion of our event. Your tickets have been tallied, and now it’s time to announce the winner of the carnival games and to prepare everyone for the final portion of our event. The winner of the carnival games was decided by whoever brought in the most tickets for each team. Now, without further ado, let’s announce the winners! Please step forward as your name is called.”

“In fourth place, representing Team Bellossom, we have Jess and Lilac with 108 points! In third place, we have Alice and Farren for Team Tsareena with 114 points! In second place, we have Rorik and Staryu—” Persimmon was abruptly cut off as Petunia whispered something into his ear, “Excuse me, Rorik and Stahl representing Team Lilligant with 116 points! And last but not least, our winner from Team Roserade is Drew and Rotom, with 118 points! Let’s give our finalists a round of applause!”

As the audience applauded the contestants, the leaderboard was updated to show the standing scores of the event.

For all of their efforts during the Scavenger Hunts and the Carnival Games, the following Pokemon are awarded levels:
6 levels: Lilac the Petilil, Stahl the Starmie
5 levels: Drew’s Rotom, Vine the Snivy, Horologie the Girafarig, Pridwen the Ferroseed

3 levels: Aiolia the Litleo
2 levels: Jotaro the Lombre, Berue the Tangrowth
1 level: Jill the Noibat
Here are the current standings of the event:
First Place: Team Lilligant with 7 Team Points and 8 Individual Performance Points
Second Place: Team Roserade with 6 Team Points and 5 Individual Performance Points
Third Place: Team Bellossom with 3 Team Points and 5 Individual Performance Points
Fourth Place: Team Tsareena with 5 Team Points and 2 Individual Performance Points

“Do not fret as there will be another chance to earn your team some big points!” Persimmon called out as volunteer gardeners stepped forward holding duffel bags filled with items. “It’s time for the final round of the event! I will hand the mic over to Peony in a moment to explain the details, and as she goes over them with you, we will be handing out the fruits of your labor during the Scavenger Hunt exercise! The quality of the item depends on whether your riddles took you in the right direction or not. Your items will be shared amongst your teammates, so I wish you the best of luck in the final round!”

The following teams are handed the corresponding items:

War of the Roses

As the games wrap up, a crowd is beginning to form in front of the stage in the center of the garden. Throughout the day, guests to the garden had become drawn to different teams. Makeshift signs floated throughout the audience, pledging their loyalty to their favorite Queen. The throng of people talked in excited, hushed voices.

Persimmon finishes addressing the crowd, and gives a short wave. There are scattered cheers throughout the audience, and the scientist looks uncomfortable. “Um… I’m gonna hand it over to Peony now…” He shuffles away and hands the mic to his much more socially confident co-gardener.

“Hiii!” As the pink haired girl takes center stage, a spotlight focuses on her. Smaller, colored lights dance around the stage. “Ooh! Thanks for charging up all these lights for us. Anyway, it’s time for THE most exciting part of our program today! A BEAUTY PAGEANT!” The steady beat of dance music starts up and the spotlight moves to the edge of the stage where a cluster of grass Pokemon are standing. They look startled, but file onto stage in groups based on their garden alignments. Signs light up above the four sections of the stage, “COOL” “CUTE” “UNIQUE” and “ELEGANT” in different corresponding fonts.

“We calculated your points from the scavenger hunt, and rewarded you with different items to use during this part of the competition,” Peony explains. “Here are the representatives from Roserade’s domain, Team Cool!” She gestures to the first section of the stage, and the members of Team Cool are suddenly pulled up staircase and on to the brightly lit stage. Three well-groomed Roselia strike stylish poses to the beat in front of the group, and blue lights circle around them. The Thorn Pokemon point to three wicker baskets holding several items. Each basket has a metal nameplate attached to the front.
In the basket labelled “Seiko”, there is a set of Black Wings, a blue and gold Rigid Shield, a plastic Toy Cutlass, a jingling Tambourine, and a metal Ladle.
The basket with Sypher’s name on it contains a sturdy looking Horn Helmet, a bright Red Barette, a blue Headband with a white bow, a securely tied white Big Bag, and a thin Tie.
The final basket says “Drew”, and has a red Electric Guitar, a sharp Shuriken, a black Trident, a poofy orange Wig, and a Pirate Hat with crossing swords on it.
- - -

“From Bellossom’s domain, Team Cute!” continues Peony as she points to the next section of the stage, which is now lit up in pink. The team is also escorted up and encouraged by the garden volunteers to smile. Two Sunflora and an Oddish perform a short, choreographed dance, finishing with a wink at the audience. They stop in cute poses next to three baskets tied up with pink ribbon.
The basket labelled “Jess” contains a red and gold Big Barette, a neatly tied Crimson Scarf, a stylish pink Purse, a set of White Wings, and a folded Red Parasol.
In the basket labelled “Melissa” there is a delicate Blue Flower, a blue Headband with a white bow, a small Pink Barette, a pair of White Pom Poms, and a wasit length Frilly Apron.
The basket with Hiero’s name on it has a Candy in a pink and blue wrapper, a golden Wind Up Key, a wrapped Gift Box, a Red Nose befitting a Popplio, and a red and yellow Pennant.
- - -
“And here’s the group from Tsareena’s domain, Team Unique!” Peony gestures to the other side of the stage where three boxes have been placed. Each member of the team is instructed to stand behind the box with their name on it. There is a drop in the music, and suddenly three Bounsweet pop out and twirl into the air. The Alolan Pokemon present the contents of each box.
The box with the label “Chroma” has a red and gold Gorgeous Flower, a white Fluffy Beard, a plastic Smiley Face Mask, a Thick Book with a red cover, and a scholarly Professor Hat.
The box with Alice’s name written on it contains a wire Whisk, a green Striped Barette, a wooden Magic Wand, a set of Maracas, and a black, pointed Witchy Hat.
In the third box,” there is a Toy Fishing Rod with a Pokeball lure, a bright Blue Barette, a small blue Round Button, an orange Small Barette, and a pair of Square Glasses.
- - -

“Last but certainly not least, we have Lilligant’s domain, Team Elegant!” Peony flourishes once more as Team Elegant’s section lights up a gentle green. The music gets calmer, and three Petlil waltz on the stage. They finish with a curtsey toward three velvet bags tied up with ribbon. As each Petlil pulls a ribbon, the contents of the bag are revealed.
The bag with a tag reading “Lucas” has a Bouquet of pink and purple flowers, a Laurel Wreath to be worn on the head, a white Lonely Flower, a gold Pocket Watch, and a blue and white Lace Cap.
The bag tagged “Rorik” contains a flowing Black Cape, a black Cane, a sparkling Tiara, a high collared White Cape, and a single red Rose.
The final bag has Alex’s name on it, and inside there is a black Bowtie, a white Gentleman’s Hat, a glass Monocle, a jeweled Necklace, and a royal Crown.
- - -

The crowd whoops and cheers with the introduction of each team, and some trainers even hear their names called out. Peony giggles into the mic and flips her hair, she’s obviously enjoying that the spotlight has returned to her.

“Ok folks, the teams are going to take some time to get ready. Make sure to cheer really loudly for your favorites!” The lights dance around the stage once more, then stop and fade off. The crowd cheers and yells out the names of different teams and their Queens. Each group is escorted behind the stage to a section dubbed the “Greenery Room”. In reality, it was still outdoors, and tables were set up with each team’s different items, as well as some full-length mirrors with vanity lights.

“Mmkay everyone,” Peony addresses the teams, sitting on a stool in the front of the Greenery Room. “I’m gonna like, explain the rules for this part ok? All of those lovely items you were given are for you to dress your Pokemon up with. You can use up to five, ‘kay? You can totally share the stuff you have too, within your own team of course. Take the time you need to get ready, but not like, too long, duh.” She hops off the stool and gives you all a peace sign.

Rules
Choose one Pokemon that you will dress up for this portion of the pageant.
Choose up to five (5) items to dress up your Pokemon with.
You can use any item allocated to your Team, multiple trainers can use the same item.
Keep in mind that you will be judged on several different criteria, be creative and have fun picking out different items for your Pokemon to wear!

The path to the Mossy Rock was long and winding, Isaac kept his eye on the path most of the time. Vinny could see him constantly fidgeting with his hands, moving them from his hoodie pockets to his pants pockets. It was obvious that he was craving a cigarette but was avoiding having one so not to bother the small Eevee, she appreciated him for that. The path was a little less travelled than the others in the Cloud Garden, causing it to have a bit of a slope that the two had to force their way through. Masses of overgrown vine and moss were often in their way as well, it was annoying --- to say the least. But this was the path Vinny had chosen, and who was Isaac to judge. He glanced at the Eevee, she had a skip in her step and her eyes were focused on the path ahead. Isaac could tell she was extremely excited to finally evolve, he himself was a little more concerned. He hoped her personality wouldn't change too much, like Morgana's had. There was something about evolution that seemed to shift the very nature of the Pokemon, and he prayed it wouldn't happen to Vinny. She was the most important thing in his life, she always had been.

Once they arrived in the clearing, Isaac saw the stone. It was rather large, illuminated by a single beam of light that peaked out from the tops of the extremely tall trees above their heads. It's green hue and coating of moss made Isaac realise this was certainly the object of their desires, he glanced at Vinny, who was already eyeing up the stone. He could see her tail vibrating excitedly, she was obviously ready. As they approached the stone, Vinny turned up her nose in disgust. A horrible smell began to permeate from near her and her trainer, she turned to Isaac, expecting him to have one of his "special cigarettes" handing out of his mouth.

"What?" He asked, looking down at her before catching a whiff of whatever it was for himself. "Aw yuck, that's disthgusting." Momentarily thrown off focus, Isaac let his lisp slip out. Vinny chuckled to herself before raising her paw to her nose, Isaac did the same --- raising his sleeve to cover his nose. "Did you actually think that was me? I'm hurt, Vin." He chuckled before looking around, where on earth was that coming from? He didn't have to wonder for long, as a small purple skunk poked it's head out from shrubbery. Vinny looked at it in disdain, why was a poison type wandering so close to the moss rock. She flicked her ears irritably, causing Isaac to glance down at her.

"Hey Vin... you know you need to fight near this thing to evolve, right?" He pointed to the Moss Rock, causing Vinny's ears to perk up. That was all she needed to hear before springing into action. She sprang into the air before plunging into the ground and digging a hole, burrowing her way towards the Pokemon with the intent of attacking.

Rorik still couldn't believe it - Stahl had actually scored enough points to end up in second place, and help put Team Lilligant on top of the scoreboard!

Maybe now she won't harm us? I'd settle for being allowed to leave without any injuries, to be honest...

He hugged the blue Starmie, overwhelmed by its incredible performance, and now they even had a crowd surrounding and rooting for them. This was by far the strangest social experience of Rorik's life, who'd spent the majority of his existence locked up in the Lab. Actually, to his recollection, this was the first time someone else openly cheered for him at anything, since not only was he simply not the kind of person crowds rally behind, it simply wasn't part of the Heimlan way to overtly applaud and congratulate.

There was, however, no time to celebrate properly, because the next challenge was immediately laid out before them. This, however, was referred to as the last trial, which meant Rorik was almost free from the Garden Wars. All he had to do was... well, excel one more time and not drag his team down with his inadequacy. Nothing easier.

Peony, as it turned out, was the one to lay out the rules for the next challenge, and it if anything, it fit her oh so much more than it fit him - a "beauty pageant". Rorik's eyes rolled so hard it was a wonder they didn't get stuck in the back of his head - there was nothing worse for a man of science than the futility of appearances.

And now what do I do?, he wondered as he went over his item stash. Stahl, in all her natural wonder, would look positively ridiculous wearing any of those - her beauty was far deeper than any pageant judge could possibly see. And it was then that something completely unexpected happened.

In a flash of light, Munchlax broke free from his Ball, grinning widely as he looked around. Quickly, he approached the box with Rorik's name on it and began rummaging through the items, with a level of interest that the Professor simply did not know the bear possessed.

He's not looking for food, nor a place to sleep, and there's nobody around for him to beat up - so where is his motivation coming from?...

As if sensing his Trainer's confusion, Munchlax turned back around, winked at him and bowed respectfully like a very fat gentleman would. At this sight, Rorik couldn't fight back laughter - he understood now, the silly bear was just in the mood to have fun. There was nothing wrong with that either, although it was rare for Munchlax to actually care. Could it be that the bear was finally enough at ease around Rorik to goof around? He'd read in several studies that Pokemon tended to loosen up and enjoy themselves more when the Bond with their Trainer was stronger...

Methodically, as if every detail had already been thought of, Munchlax retrieved three items from Rorik's box, then moved on to his teammates'. Of course, asking for permission didn't even cross his mind, so Rorik had to intervene on his behalf.

"Lucas, Alex, I a-apologize for my Pokémon's b-behaviour," he stammered clumsily. "Please bear with it just a little longer... Oh, pardon the pun!"

He decided not to interfere with Munchlax's plan. After all, he agreed with his approach - it made sense that he would use the most items from the box designated to him, and only take one or two extras from other boxes. He didn't know the scoring criteria, but surely making the most of what was given to them had to count for something?

Munchlax, meanwhile, was indeed having a blast. Rorik, of course, had no way of knowing it, but while under Gottfried's care the bear had crossed paths with and battled all manner of Trainers - some of which so elegant and gentlemanly that even he was compelled to emulate them, often failing miserably. After all, men like the Kalosian Miracle, L'Artiste Luc de Beaufort exuded such an aura of elegance and confidence that it seemed the world itself was at their feet. And if skinny foreigners could pull it off, why not he, the mightiest Munchlax in all of Heiml?!

---

It took the Pokémon a while to get ready, but when he was finally done, Rorik's mouth went agape in disbelief. Everything was perfectly placed, perfectly chosen, to the point where one could almost forget they were looking at a fat, lazy bear beneath all that charm. Munchlax had chosen the White Cape, Cane and Rose from Rorik's own box, and borrowed the Gentleman Hat and Monocle from their teammate's crates, to create a truly spectacular disguise. He masterfully twirled the cane in his fingers like he'd seen Gym Leader Gertha's Marowak do so many times, clipped the rose with his claws to pin it on his fur and adjusted his position so that the wind would kick up his flowing white cloak for added dramatic effect.

Well, he did go to all this trouble to resemble the exact opposite of what he truly is... might as well face my anxiety and play along. He deserves it, he truly does. Well, here goes...

Clearing his throat while he felt himself blushing from the attention he commanded upon himself, the Professor spoke loudly and introduced the first entry of the Beauty Pageant:

"Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention? Please give your warm welcome to the consummate gentleman! The rose-wearing, monocle-carrying, hat-tipping, cane-twirling, cape-sporting..."

"... Lord Laxington of Munchester!"

By now, surely everyone in Fizzytopia was familiar with the Pokémon Trainer known as Keith Masters. A Poison-type master clad in his iconic Mega Hat, his faithful talking Meowth ever present on his shoulder, and an unquenchable thirst for adventure always there in his heart.

And then there was this guy.

Indeed, approaching the Galea Foothills was a man who was considerably newer to the Fizzytopia region. No hat on his head, ensuring that his spiky blond hair had the freedom to stick out in all directions like the spikes of a Jolteon. A dark green jacket over a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots. A bright red backpack was lazily slung over one shoulder. Clipped to his belt, a Poké Radar. And every step he took jostled the Shiny Charm he wore around his neck. This was Gavin Golurkson, up-and-coming Shiny hunter from the Orre region, though to look at his companion, one wouldn't have guessed him to be a Shiny hunter.

Indeed, the Maractus accompanying Gavin was most assuredly the normal coloration for his kind. A fact that irked Gavin, to put it mildly, when first they'd met, but Miror's chill demeanor proved a nice balance to Gavin's hotheadedness, and the two soon became good friends.

"Heh, here we are, Miror," said Gavin with a slight grin. "Cloud Garden. Old place, rich history, kinda remote and out of the way... seems like the kind of place we oughta start our search, yeah?"

"Marac, Maractus," nodded Miror.

"Damn straight," nodded Gavin. "So let's haul ass, Miror- let's not waste any time, see what we can see."

"Ractus!" Miror agreed, as the Orre-born duo made their way onward. Gavin absentmindedly played with the Shiny Charm around his neck as he walked- would it really bring him luck, would it really help him find that which he sought? They would soon find out, wouldn't they?

Stay tuned for more details...
Jess had been pleasantly surprised by how well Lilac succeeded in her selected games. Having discovered the perfect accompaniment to her new song, she parked herself on top of a "haunted" self-playing piano and began to croon an even creepier tune. While the tiny plant perhaps couldn't produce a scary spectacle as grand as the instrument she was stationed on, the requiem heightened the eerie atmosphere and senses, causing each sudden noise or shadowy movement to make people jump in alarm. Together their combined melodies tiptoed through the manor, seeping into the souls of anyone who passed through, unnerving at every turn. Jess could hear it echoing even outdoors, sending chills slithering down her spine.

Emboldened by her triumph over earning a ton of tickets for her first endeavor, Lilac joined Jess outside in a quick celebration before moving on. Next was the Bottom of the Barrel, which turned out to be a bit more difficult. Try as she might, Lilac was unable to drain the entire drum of its contents. Still, she received a decent number of dockets for her effort. Refreshed from the long drink/bath, she thus waddled away feeling somewhat bloated but satisfied.

Last was the Milk Bottles. Having rejuvenated her liquid stores, it was now time to dry off in the sun as she gratefully absorbed its rays. Eyeing her targets, she lined herself up exactly right before releasing a great beam of green energy, knocking down all the pins at once with both power and precision. Jess was more than impressed as she congratulated her partner for achieving what appeared to be the maximum score. (Meanwhile thinking perhaps it had been a good idea after all to go all out, upon observing others struggle with the same task; just what were those things made of?)

4 levels: Because Farren the Pineco is lv.100, Alice is awarded 4 Rare Candies

Team Bellossom Receives:
Jess: Big Barrette, Crimson Scarf, Purse, White Wings, Red Parasol
Melissa: Blue Flower, Headband, Pink Barrette, White Pom Pom, Frilly Apron
Hiero: Candy, Wind Up Key, Gift Box, Red Nose, Pennant

After claiming their prizes, they returned to the center of the garden under the setting sun, which basked the domain in beautiful hues of faded orange, dappling the colorful flowerbeds and fruit with further splendor. As their hosts announced the current standings, Jess was even more astonished to learn they were one of top contestants for the carnival games - even if it was only fourth place. Still, she and Lilac shared a prideful beam as they stepped up to accept their trophy: a basket filled to the brim with adorable accessories, much like the ones their own representative wore. (In fact the purse looked almost identical to Peony's designer coach bag. Go figure.)

Jess was far more attracted by the other objects in the container though. Her eyes lit up at the amount of red, reminding of how much the color personally meant to her as she lifted the scarlet scarf out and rubbed its fabric thoughtfully. Coincidence...?

Shaking her head, she shifted her attention back to her comrades, who were also inspecting the items with interest. According to the crew, this was to be the last round of the competition, which meant one of her teammates would have to sit this one out. She looked at Iris and Lance, who had both yet to participate. The latter shook his head, content to remain a spectator for now. In fact, he seemed more attracted to the idea of designing the costume itself, examining the caterpillar up and down as a concept began to form in his mind.

Grabbing the White Wings, he fitted them predictably on the Sewaddle's back. He then handed her the Red Umbrella, but rather than hold it upright, he directed her to display it in front like a shield. Glancing over towards the other trainers' treasure, he gestured towards the Pennant, and Jess took the hint as she hurried over to ask Hiero if they could borrow it. After tying the flag in a knot to its pole, Iris was given it as well to wield as a makeshift weapon.

For a finishing touch, Lilac took the Crimson Scarf and approached her gallant knight, wrapping it around Iris like a cape. (Blushing almost the same shade as they found their faces extremely close to each other.) Backing away, she nodded in approval at their now matching neckwear (almost swooning when Iris flourished hers, dramatically striking a pose). Jess gawked in awe as well at how the gangly worm had been transformed into an angelic warrior. She looked like the archangel Michael striking Lucifer down from heaven with his legendary lance, or St. George about to slay the dragon with a spear. A "hero", if she ever saw one.

"You look great, hon. Now go out there and show them how heroic you are!"

Meetan – Axel began to work as soon as you finished explaining what needed to be done, beginning with telepathically explaining the situation to the Skiddo. The Pokemon immediately stopped ramming into the cabin and turned toward Axel with curiosity. It was the first time the poor Skiddo was able to clearly hear something for quite some time now. Axel began to make an attempt at removing the sludge from the Skiddo’s ears but it seemed to be lodged in there pretty good, he wasn’t about to give up though. The Skiddo would occasionally quiver because the sludge moving around was tickling its ears. While Axel is doing that, you open up the cabin door and call for Ivan, who jumps out of his seat out, excited that you have returned for him. Then you proceed to explain the situation and his excitement vanishes knowing that you didn’t return for him specifically, it was only because he was the only one around to help. Oh well, it’s his duty to help regardless, he is a ranger and there is a Pokemon in need after all.

He runs around his desk and out the door, noticing that the Skiddo is the most calm he has seen it. “Wow, I’m glad you stopped by! This poor guy would have had to suffer for much longer had you not. I hadn’t noticed that black stuff before at all.” He reaches for a Net Ball that was attached to his belt and tosses it out in front of him, releasing a Wartortle. He then kneels down in order to be on the same level with his Pokemon. “Hey there Franklin. Could you do that Skiddo a huge favor and very gently use your Water Gun to help loosen up that goop in its ears so that the Abra over there can pull it out?” Franklin smiles and nods then turns around, approaching the Skiddo. Axel was listening in and told the Skiddo about the plan so it had already lowered its head and tightly shut its eyes in order to brace itself and prepare for the water. Franklin and Axel make a good team in this situation and after a little bit of work, the sludge is finally free from the left ear and it doesn’t take long for it to be the same for the right ear as well. Once that’s done, Franklin also shoots the Water Gun at its hooves in order to get that last bit of sludge off. The Skiddo is now completely clean and begins to buck around in a celebratory way. Once it settles back down, Ivan approaches it and rubs its head. “I’m sorry I didn’t help you sooner, I would have had I known.” The Skiddo just nudges his hand as if to say it’s alright. Now that the mess is taken care of, Ivan speaks to you about something else you had mentioned earlier. “Now, about that mess in the grass you mentioned, where exactly–!”

Ivan is cut off as the Skiddo charges up and carefully headbutts you in such a way that doesn’t hurt but completely knocks you onto its back and then begins to take off running! “Ah!! Sorry about this Alice!!! I think it wants to show you something!! I can’t leave but I’ll…” Ivan’s voice fades in the distance as you’re carried away. Axel has teleported to you and is also along for the ride at this point. Eventually, Skiddo stops dead its tracks which ultimately causes you to fly off its back since you weren’t exactly secure in the first place. After you manage standing back up you can see the fear in the Skiddo’s eyes but don’t see anything but a hill in front of you, so you climb the hill. You are surprised at what you can see now. There is Sludge nearly everywhere with the exception of what seems to be a path that was intentionally left for walking through. The Trubbish seem to have no problem bouncing around in the Sludge but there are also two men, both wearing a white t-shirt and jeans, over there too so the path must be for them. They are currently loading something into a small cart that is attached to a Mudbray. Eventually one of them moves out of the way and you can see it, the thing they are loading onto the cart is actually a Pokemon, and that Pokemon is Furfrou!! She is covered in the Sludge and doesn’t appear to be struggling. Suddenly they begin to speak. “This one looks a bit familiar, like I’ve seen it somewhere before…” The one man says to his partner. “I don’t think I have but it doesn’t matter either way. Load it up already.” The other responds. “I know, I am.” They finish putting Furfrou on the cart and the one man walks up and pets the Mudbray. “Let’s go boy, we need to grab the next one. Make sure you follow us you two! We’ll come back over here later.” He gets the Trubbish’s attention and both men, plus their three Pokemon and Furfrou in a cart, begin to move away from the area.

-----------------------

Welcome to my group MM! I hope you enjoy your stay in the Cloud Garden!

Missingno. Master – You have arrived in the Cloud Garden for one reason and that is to find yourself a shiny Pokemon, since that is the one thing you’re always after since you’re a shiny hunter. Plus, this is a place that is out of the way and has a long history so, hopefully, in this case, that means that rare things can be found here, like Pokemon with a rare color. You and Miror both decide to begin your search in the Plains. This is a very open area but there are many hills, so as open as it may be, it’s still easy to miss something that is hidden behind a hill so you first head for one of the taller hills you can see, maybe if you reach the top you’ll be able to look around and find something interesting.

You go up and down several smaller hills on your way, you haven’t encountered any Pokemon yet but one thing is for certain, you’re at least getting a lot of exercise. Finally, you reach the top of the taller hill and pause to catch your breath a bit before really taking a moment to look out around you for anything of interest. You notice a cabin in the not so far distance ahead of you, this is most likely the rangers cabin that is known to be out here. You continue to look around and once you turn to your right, you notice something that certainly does stand out. There appears to be a very small pond over that way and you can tell there is definitely life of some sort near it but can’t make out what exactly it is from where you are. So, because that is the only thing of interest outside of the cabin, you decide to make your way over there in order to get a closer look so you continue down this hill and up and over a few more smaller hills.

After some time and a few breaks, you reach a tree that is near the small pond and lean against it under the shade as you watch what is happening. There is a poorly dressed man wearing a wool cap with a long gray beard sitting on a stump next to the pond with a cardboard box to his right. There is a Kricketot currently drinking some water from the pond on the opposite side from the man. Once the Kricketot finishes, it looks toward the man warily. “Come now little one, ol’ Percy isn’t going to bite.” The man leans forward, reaching his hand out toward the Kricketot with a small amount of food in it. Eventually, the Pokemon slowly approaches but pauses a few times because it’s just not sure. Suddenly, a Rattata runs over the hill and directly up to the older man that called himself Percy. It is carrying something pink and yellow in its mouth that it then drops by the man’s feet with excitement. “Ah! You actually found one!” The man reaches down and picks up whatever was just dropped and looks it over thoroughly. “A Nanab Berry indeed…” For a moment, the man almost seems as if he is grinning with a look of greed but it only lasts for a second so you may have only imagined it since you’re a good distance away still. The man reaches into the box beside him and pulls out something that is shaped like a gem of some sort. “Here is your reward for doing such a wonderful job. You can only use this Normal Gem once so make sure you use it wisely. Those bullies of yours will certainly leave you alone after you show them the power this gem has given you.” The Rattata smiles with delight then takes the Normal Gem from the man and immediately runs off. From where you’re standing though, something seemed a bit off about that gem, although you’re not sure what.

Having seen this exchange go down, the Kricketot’s curiosity has now peaked and it gladly approaches the man without giving it anymore thought. “Ahh, I see you’re interested in that gem. Well, I have something even better than that for you.” He reaches into the box beside him again, this time pulling out a small brown drawstring bag, opening it up and holding it down in order to show the Kricketot the contents. “This is something called Silver Powder, if you have this then you will become the strongest bug type Pokemon in all of the Galea Plains. That gem from before has a one-time use but this powder here… This stuff will make you powerful forever.” The Kricketot’s eyes begin to sparkle as it imagines what such power would feel like. “However, this stuff is very expensive. I spent a small fortune on it myself, but I’m willing to give it to you for a fraction of what I paid.” He holds the Nanab Berry out in front of the Kricketot. “Bring me two of these and I will glady give you this entire pouch of Silver Powder.” The Pokemon’s excitement shows on its face, all it needs is to bring that man two of those berries and it will become extremely powerful. “Tot!!” The Kricketot runs off over the hills and out of sight in a flash, obviously in search of that berry. The man, who hasn’t noticed you yet and now thinks he’s alone laughs to himself. “This spot is perfect, so many Pokemon are drawn here to get water from this pond.”

With a mostly invisible Ai leading the pack, the group races towards Roserade's throne room to rescue the kidnapped Sunkern, but comes across a familiar fork and a decision to make - prioritize rescuing the baby kernels or satisfy Budew's thirst for revenge and confront Roserade now?

Obviously, there is no clear solution and a ton of unknowns, but Lucas figured he knew the answer that would make the most sense, at least for him. The Sunkern were likely in some amount of danger, and their wellbeing was definitely priority for Lucas. There were some clear downsides, though - not knowing where they're being held and losing the element of surprise - but it would be best to get them out of harms way before storming the castle. But, if they played their cards right and were careful, they might actually be able to get an additional advantage and have some of the Sunkern run some diversion or suppressing fire to allow them to get in more easily. Now, he would need to convince Budew to go along with his decision.

"I know you sre eager to confront Roserade, but should try to free the Sunkern first, and maybe get some backup first. Let's try and scout out where they're being held and see if we can get some of them to help create a distraction so we can strike," Lucas proposed to the little, enthusiastic rose bud, hoping that the bud would put aside her plot for vengeance for a little while to help her newly minted friends.

After the games, Horologie had done admirably on the last stage, both as a capable partner in the scavenger hunt and an arcade game player, helping their team get ahead, and Lucas thought she deserved a nice, long rest. After all, once he saw the baskets of items, Lucas had a great idea for how to incorporate another one of his Pokémon that he had been itching to showcase. Once Horologie was returned to her ball, he released Brocart the Goldeen, who took a moment to get her land legs before Lucas started to dress her up. From his basket, he grabbed the Lace Cap, draping it just above her eyes like a veil, as well as the Bouquet and the Lonely Flower. Rearranging the bouquet a bit, he stuck the lonely flower in it as the centerpiece, trying to perk it up. He also borrowed the Tiara from his partner's basket, placing the twinkling crown above her horn to add to her elegance. He then borrowed from another basket, draping the Necklace around her as well.

Handing her the bouquet, which she gripped lightly in her fins, he gave her a few pointers - "Okay, Brocart, we're going to make you into a beautiful bride. Try your best to look coy, but understated, and perhaps try to cry a little? Use the bouquet and flowers to your advantage, as well as the Lace Cap, which you can use like a veil. Look as elegant and beautiful as a lady on her big day."

For all of their efforts during the Scavenger Hunts and the Carnival Games, the following Pokemon are awarded levels:[indent
5 levels: Pridwen the Ferroseed

Pridwen's three games had more meaning than a form of entertainment, but also to allow Alex to test how the Ferroseed would perform in dangerous situations. As the steel type hardened himself and began to descend the pachinko machine, lost control fairly quickly, but ultimately landed in one of the goals, as the trainer collected the tickets. His eagerness could be a little problematic given the defensive nature...or would be be adapting to a mobile environment by keeping himself defended? Thankfully the shooting gallery was a no-brainer, the Ferroseed hitting all but a couple of the Psyduck, proving his aim to be true. The milk canisters...not so much. Despite the high speed rollout, the pokemon's impact was rather menial, with only two of the bottles toppling after a slow pause, and clattering a few more down. Though Alex smiled at Pridwen, he could see the steel type's pride wounded as the pokemon slowly rolled back to him, eyes averted and staring at the grass below.

Yet as the sun set, and as the gardeners announced this event's winners, Alex could tell that despite the slip up, team Lilligant held the lead across both categories, and the final event coming up would be all-or-nothing. Still glum, the Ferroseed didn't pay attention to the light show, instead choosing to remain immobile. Why was he cursed with this puny little metallic form, incapable of knocking down anything big and heavy? How was he supposed to be a defensive bastion if he couldn't even knock what lay before him aside? The human noticed him, and mercifully returned the sad conker to his ball.

"Don't feel too down about that, Prid," he whispered, before realising what the final event was, and swallowing hard. A beauty pageant. He was not prepared for this in the least. Harpe was likely still a little tired from the morning, and Pridwen would perforate his throat if he dared to dress the seed up. As his group ventured to the Greening Room, as it were, while the girl explained the rules. Up to five props, one pokemon, in a style that fit the group using what was given. Looking at the props, as he pondered what to do, the scientist fellow and that blonde man acted first, claiming a number of the props. The scientist had his Munchlax garbed in a fetching gentleman's appearance, while the blonde fellow - Lucas, was it? - had given his Goldeen a beautiful makeover, the pair of smaller pokemon looking right proper and wondrous. "Impressive..." he mumbled, before the feeling of being breathed on caught his attention more.

"GYAAAR!"

If Alex weren't dead, he'd wish that he were. Of the other two options he had, one would have fit the proposal of Elegant well, while the other was, well, yeah. As fate would have it, Caladbolg the Garchomp was quite the opposite of elegant. Not only was this a fearsome dragon pokemon, he was also a little on the loopy side, so to speak, rather playful and jocular. Currently the Mach pokemon was looming over the contents of the box, one eye deep in the props, the other darting around on its own between the Munchlax and Goldeen, both of which were probably deeply concerned for their own safety. Alex sighed. From a magnificent start to what was almost certainly an undignified flop, the task was to make this ginormous goofball look eloquent and formal, far from a simple task. Yet, at the props in the box, and a quick glance at his companions in these trials, his mind suddenly began to produce an image.

"Cal, stop slobbering! It's not very gentlemanly of you. What sort of baron would drool at the sight of clothing?" he chastised a little playfully, giving the dragon a clout upside the head (which rang with a hollow clunk to the trained ear). "I mean, just look at you. You've shown up as best man for this wedding between Lord Laxington of Munchester and Lady Brocart of Camphrier, and you're not even dressed for the occasion!" Swooping round, he grabbed the Black Cape and draped it around the dragon's neck and over his back, before taking the Laurel Wreath and Bowtie and looping the wreath over the back of the cape and attaching the bowtie to give the impression of the wreath being a nobleman's collar. "There, doesn't that look better?" Alex chimed, Cal looking at his back, at the reflection in the mirror, then towards the bear and goldfish, his dopey expression quickly fading into a dignified stance. Standing upright from a slouch, the blue hide coupled with the red chest gave the impression of a formal suit or tux.

"Now, how about something to let you know when the wedding starts, hm?" Alex continued, taking the Pocket Watch and connecting it to the dragon's chest with some tape by the chain, before placing a clip onto the Garchomp's claw so he could lift the watch off his chest. Doing so, the pokemon consulted the watch professionally, absorbed in the role play, before remembering his inability to read the time and bashfully returning the watch. "And of course, we can't have you enter without a seal of nobility, can we? Need to keep your head warm somehow," the human finished, placing the Crown on the pokemon's crown. "Not quite a fedora, but if you're a visiting prince, then you must look and act the part. Now, how about your formal walking skills?" Giving a number of seemingly elegant growls - at least, as elegant as a giant dragon creature could muster - Cal strutted around, becoming accustomed towards the movement of the cape.

"Alright, I think you're ready. Just keep yourself calm and collected, and above all respectful. This is a wedding, after all." Turning to the other two trainers, he quietly whispered to them. "When your scariest pokemon's like a toddler, you know you're pushing your skills to the limit in keeping them from getting bored and behaving." With preparations complete, Alex awaited the pageant as it would be, hoping his formally-dressed Garchomp wouldn't scare away any of the spectators.

As his pair of battle-tested bugs came out victorious, Jayson congratulated them and set his sights for taking on the trial captain of the Cloud Forest. However, the two aforementioned Pokemon were a bit worse for wear right now and were probably unfit for such a challenge at the moment. With that in mind, Jayson recalled Spartacus and Trieu and with the intentions of taking them to a ranger’s cabin in the southern plains in order to rest and heal up. With the two bug Pokemon back in their Pokeballs, Jayson replaced them with a pair of Pokemon from the Alola region, Atalanta the Dartrix and Boudica the Mudsdale.

With instructions for Atalanta to scout the trail ahead, Jayson mounted Boudica’s broad back and the group set off down the forest trail. The leafy owl glided through the forest, stopping every now and then on a tree branch to wait for the behemoth of a horse to catch up. As the megaton Mudsdale walked through the wooded trail, her massive hoof prints shook the earth and the corresponding thudding sounds seemed to scare off any local wildlife. Eventually Jayson and Boudica caught up to Atalanta, finding the owl perched on a white signpost that was erected at a fork in the trail.

It wasn’t hard for Jayson to determine which direction they needed to head next; there was an arrow facing south, pointing down the path labeled “Galea Plains.” The three of them turned in that direction and were promptly on their way. From there, it was a short walk through the woods as the trees gradually thinned out.
Once they emerged through the wall of trees, what lay before them was an endless stretch of meadows and hills, with a few scattered trees providing rare oases of shade.

Looking around, another signpost was kind enough to show them the way, pointing southwest to read “Ranger’s Cabin.” Sure enough, on the horizon, Jayson could spot a roof hiding behind a hill with a chimney sticking out of it. Boudica began to trot down the slope while Atalanda glided alongside her, and Jayson began to feel ever thankful for having such a reliable land mount to make the journey that much quicker. Upon arrival at the cabin, Jayson dismounted Boudica and thanked her for her work before returning his Pokemon into their balls and heading inside.

The inside of the cabin was a neat and organized furnishing, ranging from easy to use Pokemon healer machines to PC transfer units to beds and a fully stocked kitchenette for resting and eating. There was no one around, as the ranger was most likely making their rounds around the area, other than a lone Hoothoot, who perched by the ranger’s desk and watched Jayson’s every move. The healer machine was pretty straightforward for Jayson to use as he placed his fatigued Pokemons’ Pokeballs on it and pressed the button. While he waited for it to finish, he had time to fix himself a light snack or contemplate his strategy going forward. Additionally, if he needed to switch any Pokemon out at the PC, now was his chance. As the healer machine finished its duty with a “ding” it was now up to Jayson to set his next course of action. With a stinky new foe presented before them, Isaac and Vinny had all of the requirements they needed to achieve the Eevee’s evolution into her future leafy form. All that was left was to battle and let the Mossy Rock influence its powers on Vinny. Eager to get this over with, Vinny didn’t even wait to listen to her trainer’s strategy before leaping into action to face off against the Stunky. The skunk’s tail remained high on alert as it let out a growl in warning.

Ready to get herself away from the foul smell, Vinny started things off by pawing at the ground and rapidly began Digging a hole in the soft earth. Soon enough, Vinny was completely submerged underground, where it was anyone’s guess that she had gone off to. Stunky looked around, partly perplexed and partly annoyed that its opponent would suddenly hide like that, and so as it waited for Vinny to return, it began to Focus its Energy and prepare itself for battle. When it was done, Stunky began releasing a foul purple mist from its stink sacs on its rear end. The Poison Gas was quite dense and coated the floor of the clearing. Luckily it didn’t rise up to Isaac’s height, but the smell alone wasn’t pleasant for the trainer to breathe in.

The ground below Stunky suddenly began to rumble, as Vinny burst through it, hitting the poison type for good damage with a Dig attack. Stunky winced, but was still ready to go. Meanwhile, the Vinny who had launched a successful sneak attack suddenly started feeling woozy as she breathed in the toxic air unexpectedly, the poison filling her lungs. It would seem that her strategy for guerilla warfare might not go as planned going forward. What will she do?

Jerichi:
It was a tough choice for Lucas to make, but he ultimately decided that the Sunkerns’ safety took priority over confronting the queen for her actions. Budew was still more than ready to give Roserade a piece of her mind, but after some pleading from Lucas she was able to swallow her anger and agreed to tag along. The Sunkern were her friends after all. With everyone now on board, Lucas, Ai, and Budew headed down the path to the left in search of the kidnapped Sunkern children.

As was the rest of Roserade’s domain, the path to the left was pretty straightforward and orderly, decorated with beautiful rows of flower-covered hedges. The trio walked down the trail, followed by a right and then shortly after another left, where they could hear noises up ahead. “Pluff… pluff…” a voice lazily called out. Lucas quickly ducked down to hide behind a hedge, where Ai and Budew stood next to him. Peering around the side of the hedge, Lucas peeked into the room beyond them, where a solitary Jumpluff bounced up and down as if it was bored. From the looks of things, it was tasked to watch over the Sunkern alone while the other subjects of Roserade’s domain were called elsewhere.

Lucas’ eyes scanned the room, and soon enough he spotted the missing Sunkern. There were three of them and they all seemed unconscious for now. Pulling his head back to rejoin Ai and Budew, Lucas was now faced with another decision to make. He could either try to take the Jumpluff head on, or possibly try to set up some kind of diversion. Extracting those three Sunkern wasn’t going to be easy though. What will he do?

The plains were providing frustratingly little in the way of wild Pokémon, Shiny or otherwise. What they were providing, however, was exercise. Lots and lots of exercise. Very hilly terrain, which meant a lot of climbing. Not that Gavin was any stranger to walking- how many times had he made that trek between Pyrite Town and the Rock Poké Spot over the years? Sometimes it was more of a race than a trek, depending on where in Pyrite he was when his P*DA's Spot Monitor went off. But regardless, as accustomed to exercise as he was, this didn't make him invincible, and both he and Miror needed to pause every now and again.

Eventually, they reached a small pond, with a tree near it. Gavin grinned- the sight reminded him of the Oasis Poké Spot, only this wasn't in the middle of a desert. Nevertheless, the sight of a source of shade was just as welcome here as it would be in the middle of the deserts of Orre, and so he led his Maractus to the tree, and sat down, leaning back against said tree, relaxing in the shade. "Ahh," he grinned. "Well, nothing yet, Miror, but the day is young," he said lazily.

"Rrrractus," Miror agreed.

Before Gavin could respond to this, however, something caught his attention- not far from them sat a poorly-dressed man. Among his shabby outfit was a wool cap atop his head, and his beard was as long and grey as Duking was muscular. He sat on a stump near the pond, and had a cardboard box near him. His appearance caught Gavin's attention- he'd seen many a homeless man wandering the streets of Pyrite Town in the past. This man didn't look too different from such people. However, he seemed to be offering some food to a reddish Bug-type the likes of which Gavin hadn't seen before. He lazily dug out his P*DA, slid the metallic device open, and pointed it at the Pokémon, pressing a button marked "Strategy Memo".

"Kricketot, the Cricket Pokémon. Type: Bug," droned the device. "Clacks its antennae together to make a xylophone-like sound. Uses these sounds to communicate with other Kricketot."

The man, evidently named Percy, was trying to coax the Kricketot into coming closer, but the Bug-type still seemed wary. And then came yet another Pokémon. Gavin had seen this one before, though as his P*DA was still out, it spoke up again.

"Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. Normal Form. Type: Normal," droned the device. "Bites anything and eats everything. Where one is found, at least 40 more are sure to live in the area."

Now Gavin's interest was piqued- Rattata had provided a Nanab Berry for the man, whose face lit up with a brief, momentary look of greed. Moreover, he repaid Rattata's gift with a gift of his own- a Normal Gem. Or so he claimed, anyway- Gavin frowned as he looked at the Normal Gem. He wasn't close enough to tell, nor was he anywhere near enough of an expert to say for sure, but something definitely seemed off about that Normal Gem. Also, was it him, or was this man overselling the capabilities of the Normal Gem somewhat?

And the suspicious only got even more suspicious as Percy then proceeded to make an offer to the now-intrigued Kricketot- all it had to do was bring him two Nanab Berries, and in return, the man would give Kricketot- gasp!- Silver Powder! Gavin raised an eyebrow- a relatively unimpressive type-based held item, and this man was making it sound as good as a Z-Crystal or a Mega Stone. The Shiny hunter's frown became a bit more pronounced- having lived in Pyrite Town all his life, Gavin had seen more than his fair share of con men, scam artists, and Magikarp salesmen, and this guy had that kind of stink all over him.

"...What the fuck is his angle?" Gavin whispered to Miror. "He could be pulling the same con for gullible young Trainers and get some damn money out of it, but... conning wild Pokémon out of Nanab Berries? I don't get it. Miror, what do you make of it?"

"Marac," shrugged Miror, similarly at a loss.

"Well, I want to get to the damn bottom of this," Gavin murmured. "But if we just confront him here and now, he won't tell us shit, will he? No, we gotta be smart about this. Miror, follow me, and act hungry," he stated.

"Ractus," nodded Miror as both he and Gavin stood up.

Gavin led the way over towards Percy. "Oh, don't worry, Maractus, I'm sure we'll find some soon," he was saying. "I- oh!" he added, feigning surprise at the sight of the old man before him, as though he had only just noticed him. "Excuse me, sir," he said. "I don't suppose you might happen to have some Nanab Berries you can spare? They're my Maractus's absolute favorite, but I'm all out, and my Maractus is so hungry."

"Maraaac..." Miror added, catching on to Gavin's act and pretending he was hungry. Gavin waited, expression innocently pleading, to see what Percy would say in response. Nanab Berries clearly meant something to him. Enough for him to scam wild Pokémon into fetching them for him. How would he react upon being asked to spare some? Gavin found himself very curious as to what the answer to that would be.
