Well, think about it. Why is Swift auto hit? Because it fires like a shotgun blast and some of the projectiles are guaranteed to hit. Same's true of Shock Wave. Those moves should be considered auto partial hit.

Shadow Punch? Ghostly shizzle. Aura Sphere? Aura related shizzle. These moves should be considered guided to the target but not auto hit. Heatseeker missiles are not auto hit.

Swift isn't autohit. It's a wide spread. By saying it automatically hit's - that means it will hit regardless of where the foe is. The way it's worded it sounds like some attacks will follow you to mars (I'm looking at you, pursuit).

If we're going to quite blatantly ignore anything the anime has to say -- I'll say first that Aura Sphere/Swift have not been shown to be auto-hit, so by all means remove those effects -- then we can keep the existing descriptions, with the relevant attacks nerfed dependent on likes/dislikes. Honestly, the current descriptions aren't shabby, because the supposed autohit moves (Swift, Shadow Punch, Magical Leaf) are less than half the strength of Thunderbolt. Aerial Ace, using the same amount of energy as those moves, is even more ridiculous seeing that it does half the damage. Aura Sphere is highlighted mainly because one species of popular, usable Pokemon can continuously use it, but as I've already mentioned, you can remove that portion since the anime has not proven this bit (I don't know if the eighth movie does, on the other hand). It's honestly just an autohit version of Flamethrower, Thunderbolt or Ice Beam, which most people would expect to hit under normal circumstances.

By the way, Kush, Shock Wave has never been seen in wave form; only electric ball form.

I hate repeating myself so I'll just let the quote do it for me.

Yeah. But then

Shock Wave (EL) -- The user performs an electric Swift attack, as tiny lightning bolts of energy smack the victim(s) for decent damage.
you read this. Not a wave, but the same as Swift apparently.

Because, like most of the attacks, it was written before we saw what it actually looked like in the anime. It's a theme.
