Anonymous declares war on Scientology

http://www.anorak.co.uk/celebrities/179876.html

“Over the years, we have been watching you. Your campaigns of misinformation; suppression of dissent; your litigious nature, all of these things have caught our eye. With the leakage of your latest propaganda video into mainstream circulation, the extent of your malign influence over those who trust you, who call you leader, has been made clear to us.

“Anonymous has therefore decided that your organization should be destroyed. For the good of your followers, for the good of mankind–for the laughs–we shall expel you from the Internet and systematically dismantle the Church of Scientology in its present form.”

The first strike was an attack on the official Scientology website, scientology.org. It was down for a while.

Another DDoS strike on another scientology site shut it down completely until further notice.

Re: Anonymous declares war on Scientology

This was a pasta in /a/ couple days ago that I saved; I thought the post was actually pretty well written, but brushed it off as just one of the mindless spams customary to the pit known as /b/. I'm rather excited that the face-less horde has actually decided to target Scientology, since it should be rather interesting to see how those cultists react to a gang of internet pranksters slash hackers on steroids.

I thought this was bloody awesome. About time someone tries to take down the er..

Wait. Aren't we not allowed to talk about any of this? I seem to remember a post from one of the admins saying talking -anything- about the 'Church' was a no-no.

Ah well.

Take it to 'em, anon. I'm with you in heart and mind, simply because I can't be arsed to be with you in any other way xfd.

There is technically a rule prohibiting this type of discussion, but it's about as effective as the one banning the use of Japanese text on the forums. w

Looks like somebody has taken the initiative to follow my lead with "Co$" and to codify everything. Though I wonder if even that's appropriate enough ... perhaps Çø$? $çî3ñ70løgÿ? etc.

Re: Anonymous declares war on $cientology

I don't remember any ban on Japanese. O_o I mean, I can see how now we're sort of up Shit Creek without a paddle for all the posts that had Japanese in them and are now illegible, but still, I don't see how that's much different from all the posts which had said "Pokémon" and now say "Pok[gibberish]mon" instead. As far as I'm concerned, all servers should be able to handle the basic 255 ASCII. If they can't even do that, then I don't see why we ought to hold back from using less standard characters, too. It makes it tough on posterity, but oh well.

Re: Anonymous declares war on $cientology

Now that Dami has given the green light, I might as well comment on this.

But first.

Scientology.

Fox News.

Now back to your regular scheduled programming. This has been a test of the emergency lulz system.

Seriously, though, this is pretty wacky match-up. Both sides have their own advantages, but Anon will probably be a lot more effective due to their super-secret-dom and their sheer numbers.

Every time I watch those videos though, it sends a chill down my spine. While I can't support everything Anon has done, they're really going all out with this, even to the point where they'll follow the law to make this happen. Well, they'll follow the law to a extent, but still, the fact that they're actually making an effort to keep the party van from their driveways (and, furthermore, the team of turkey vultures that is the Co$ legal team and their group of professional stalkers) is a pretty noteworthy thing. I've always sort of half respected Anon because of their sheer power and ability to be darkly funny, but I'm GLaD that they've finally decided to expose the lie that is the Scientology cake (*badumtish*)
and do some good for the world.

It seems that the Co$ seems to underestimate this series of tubes a lot of us call home.

...yeah, I better shut up before I newfag anymore.

Anyways, has anyone heard the GLaDOS voice synth they've used? 'S pretty cool.

Re: Anonymous declares war on $cientology

So basically, the Co$ "hacked" themselves and is blaming said "hack" attack on 4chan? How could 4chan prove that? They really can't. All they could do is prove that, on the other hand, regardless of who hacked the Co$, there is no proof that Anon did it. And if the Co$ decided to fabricate evidence to incriminate Anon, Anon would then tap into its legal and hacking knowledge to reveal the truth. Theoretically. Hopefully.

What's the deal with 2/10? Is that a special day (to either 4chan or the Co$)? Or was it an arbitrarily decided-upon day to stage a protest?

So what happened? The blog entry was deleted; I presume Scientology decided to bite back?

It's sort of funny trying to incriminate 4channers when Scientology shouldn't be able to trace anything back to /b/ if the really skilled folks went there. During the international embassy hack, the "true" hackers stepped out of the worm-works and helped the idiots who used normal proxies so they wouldn't get v& by the Federal Government's IP trackers. Not many, if any, were felled during that incident.

This is getting good.

No no no. Read Kuno's post. You need to copypasta the link to your address bar and change the $ to an s because of the forums automagically change the 's-word' to a '$-word'. And yes, it apparently is case sensitive, so use lower case s.

Yes you have to change the link cause dami's thing makes it into a $. >.> It's a really interesting article about what Anons purpose is and why you Black Propoganda doesn't work on people like them.

2/10 is Lisa McPhearson's birthday.

Re: Anonymous declares war on $cientology

2/10 is the day anon's from around the world will gather outside of scientology centers and protest peacefully. There have already been a few IRL raids and protests, such as in Orlando, New York City, and Toronto. Over 30 showed up in Toronto, about 15 I believe in NYC, and about 5-10 in Orlando. Over 130 have RSVP'd for the LA protest on 2/10. You can watch some of the videos on YouTube...for the lulz. The Orlando raid was pretty hilarious.

ALSO, check out this load of crap! Nancy Cartwright (voice actor of Bart Simpson) doh'-nted TEN MILLION to the $cifags (that's what they call them)! What the eff?!

2/10 is coming...

Re: Anonymous declares war on $cientology

The Federal Government should just declare Scientology terrorists, make it illegal to associate with them and seize all of their assets. It would be the best thing Bush ever did because he'll look like a hero among the conservatives striking against liberal fascism (quite literally, it seems) and he'll probably end up taking so many valuables from them it could be enough to almost balance the federal budget. :O

Re: Anonymous declares war on $cientology

Bush would never declare the Scientologists "terrorists" because to do so would be to invite lawsuits filed on behalf of scammed Christians by the ACLU against televangelists who claim to perform miracles. Considering that the money-making model for the latter is what inspired the former (i.e. televangelism laid the ground-work for "how to legally cheat people out of their home mortgages -- by telling them they're paying for divine services!"), a lawsuit filed against the former strays perilously close to the latter. Too close for most of the GOP.
