Nah its going to be slakoth plus gimmicky new normal typed pokemon plus some expectedly dual type pokemon like Girafarig or Pyroar plus some other uselessly pathetic normal type.

However Whitney remains the most powerful Gym leader to this day and Norman's Slaking is hardly a pushover. But overall there's not much the Normal type has going on.

I would LOVE to see a mega slaking though.

So, in my quest to finish my Dex, I find myself preparing to catch Mewtwo. As I have X, part of me wants to catch an Adamant/Jolly natured one just in case I ever feel like using Mega Mewtwo-X, but all his good Fighting moves are tutored in previous gens. Do I still gun for those two natures, or do I get a Modest/Timid one?

Well at the end of the day it's not like XY makes any effort to make capturing things challenging and you're given a free Mega Stone and at least three perfect IVs. Restart, speed run, grab another within a day.

So I've tried about 4 challenge runs on my X cart and given up on all of them thus far. The first, a Wonderlocke, ended in a really obnoxious place right before Victory Road when the level curve finally got the best of me. The second, a regular Nuzlocke, ended after Gym 2, when I didn't feel like grinding to catch up. The third, and Egglocke (maybe) ended after I got sick of trying to find enough eggs to make it work.

I really need to complete this X cart at least once for the Mega Stones. So, instead of all these failed Nuzlockes, I thought I'd try something a little non-traditional - an N run. Rules are as follows!

1) You may only catch the first 6 unique Pokémon you encounter (no gift Pokémon!). No nicknames! After every Gym, you must release all but 1. This Pokémon will be used to catch the next 6 and will be boxed. After

1a) After the 8th badge, you will catch a team from the Route before Victory Road and Victory Road itself for use in Victory Road only. Once you reach the Pokémon League, you must release all but one.
1b) Once you have reached Victory Road, you must choose a team of 6 Pokémon from the 9 that you saved and use it for the Elite 4. You may nickname these Pokémon.

2) You may only battle with these 6 Pokémon. In Gyms, you may only battle with the same number of Pokémon as the Gym Leader owns.

3) Pokémon may not exceed the level of the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader. Any Pokémon that does will be boxed. EXP Share may be used until a Pokémon reaches that level.

Due to the sort of annoying way the trainer layout works in the first few routes and the lack of EXP Share, I was forced to catch my first six relatively early, leading to a team of largely underleveled Pokémon. The only really useful one was my last capture, Fletchling.

This team had little trouble dealing with the pre-Gym trainers, but, unfortunately, because of the relative scarcity of trainers on the first few routes, I was only really able to train my Fletchling to any meaningful level. I'll be taking on the Gym with Fletchling with Spewpa as backup so I can paralyze Vivillon. EDIT: The battle pretty much went as expected. Fletchling will be going in the box.

Question: if someone trades you an evolver and you mash the B button, will that evolver properly evolve when you trade them right back? I often let evolvers evolve on my end because I am scared about breaking someone else's creatures, but at the same time I always feel bad that I'm the one who gets to see the evolution instead of the other party. I'd like to know the answer to this question so that I can confidently cancel evolution on my end unless the other party has stipulated that it's okay for me to let it evolve on my end (to complete my own PokéDex).

New questions. These ones've proven tough to Google. :\

Q1. How many different messages will I have in my Holo Caster inbox when I find people using Street Pass? Is there only just the one letter and it will be overwritten each time I use the feature? Or will I receive a new letter every single day / hour / minute I use Street Pass after having previously checked in the last time? I don't want my letters from Malva to be crowded out by Street Pass spam, so if it's the latter, then I'd like to disable the service while out and about. But if it's the former, then that's great.

Example: I get three Street Pass hits on Monday. I check in on the Holo Caster. I get two Street Pass hits on Tuesday. I check in on the Holo Caster. I get five Street Pass hits on Wednesday. I check in on the Holo Caster. The third time I check in, will my inbox have one Street Pass notification from Malva or will it have three?

Q2. How many letters can you receive from Malva before the 3DS / game starts to delete the oldest ones? I'd like to keep all of my letters, so I don't want to do anything which might compromise that mission.

So I just tried it, and my Holo Caster only shows one Street Pass report -- my very first one ever, from September 9. Any idea why it isn't showing anything for today despite the fact that I've gotten quite a few new Street Pass hits logged in the Street Pass app proper?

I ended up getting the report the second time I checked in. I believe I checked in before midnight, but it was late enough at night that I can't be certain. If it was after midnight, this may suggest that the game won't issue a new report until the day has rolled over (such that it only has to issue one new report for the entire day). But I feel like it was before midnight (circa 10:30pm, in fact, nothing at all like a time of 11:59pm), in which case I don't know. :\

Can confirm that the new update overwrites the old one, and thus you only ever have one Street Pass-related news letter in your inbox. Great.

And this is why I despise our inability to communicate more effectively. I wouldn't mind it if we could control more rules about trades, ticking off checkboxes for factors like gender, shininess, Dex number, and so on. But the fact that we can't control any of that and are instead expected to communicate it through charades is infuriating.

So I have a question about Pokémon Bank. I want to restart Y to do a Locke with, but I have over 4 or 5 boxfuls of pokemon I can't afford to lose. So rather than force someone to catch enough Poké on to trade all of them to another game, I was thinking maybe I could try to use Poké Bank at some point. So herein lies the question:

If I PokeBank all these Pokémon, restart my game and all, will all the banked Pokémon still be present when I come back to Bank?
