134: With two canine Pokemon at your side, you fit right in with the festivities. The food vendors must have taken note of these Pokemon’s excellent sense of smell, and made sure everything they were cooking smelled incredibly enticing. You found yourself struggling to keep up with Pouli and Ho‘olālā’s pace as they excitedly browsed each stand. They didn’t stay anywhere long, the two were looking for the perfect thing to sate their hunger. Pouli suddenly put her paws up on a table in front of a stall, startling the vendors. She wagged her tail happily, and Ho‘olālā joined her in a howl. This seemed to be their final decision. After recovering from the shock, the owners of the stall were happy to start giving your two Pokemon as much as they wanted. While your Poochyena and Houndoom enjoyed a savory pancake, you were handed a plate of stir fry.
“I make these with a special kind of berry from Sinnoh,” the vendor explained, “Maybe you can share them with your Pokemon later too!”
You have received 5 Charti Berries!

Everyone receives a Red Envelope containing $500!

Ho‘olālā grew from Lv. 03 to Lv. 04!
Ho‘olālā gained 02 bond!
Claiming x05 Charti Berries and $500.

Fortuitous Food Stalls

Lil’twick: You and Twix wander through the lines of people waiting for food, trying to see what you might like to grab for yourself. There’s a particularly long line for a stand advertising bowls of noodles imported from Johto. It’s tempting, but with the way the line looks you aren’t sure if you’ll even make it to the front before the festival is over. Instead, you find a much shorter line close by. It doesn’t look very special; it only has a sign reading “Hand-picked Fruit”. “Fruit” looks like it was spelled wrong at first and was hastily scribbled out and re-written. The boy running the stall looks tired, but perks up a little as you approach.
“I spent all day getting these, so you have to appreciate them.” He basically tells you. He hands over a plastic bag full of berries. You take a look inside and find they are perfectly ripe, and smell pretty good.
You have received 5 Rindo Berries!
Austin sized up the tired boy. He was cute enough and decent looking. Austin could tell he wanted to not be laboring at this stall right now. Oh well, at least he got some berries. in return, Austin took out a piece of paper and scribbled down a few numbers and handed it to the guy.

"Hey if you wanna have some fun later, call me. I'll be in town for the night. Later," Austin gave a hand wave as he could see the blush erupt onto the guy's face.

He and Twix grabbed some more food from the stalls, enough to have a good dinner. He found a nice little spot in a grassy knoll to watch the fireworks go off. Putting the berry bag aside to not damage them, he and Twix ate the rest of the food they had gotten while watching the fireworks. It was sort of nostalgic. Unova always had summer fireworks to celebrate the region. Even if it was February, these fireworks couldn't help but remind Austin of the various displays he saw in Virbank.

It was said that this was a new lunar year. Austin didn't really understand it, but if it was a fresh start, he liked that. A lot had happened in the past year. He had been keeping it easy since his little display at New Fizz's New Years Celebration. Let his hair grow back out, fix some things, etc. So here was to a truly fresh start. Not just with Twix, but everyone on his team.

OOC:
Twix went from Level 11 to Level 12
Twix went from 23 Bond to 25
Austin has obtained 5 Rindo Berries.

Ty for the event MS~

Cookie’s Fortunes

As each trainer approaches Cookie at his table of fortune telling, he jumps up and grabs on to a leather handle on a plain looking box. As if he were playing with a toy, the Rockruff violently shakes the box back and forth. The box rattles with the movement, and eventually a rolled piece of paper tumbles out.
“Good boy Cookie!” The shrine maiden attending the booth praises. She hands you the paper, as well as a prize corresponding to your fortune.

GOOD FORTUNE

「Wash off the bad things from the past, now everything is clear and clean.
Encounters with Fighting-types will go well.
Believe in your partners and, with careful decisions, happiness will prevail.

Make proper preparations before going on a trip. Now may not be the best time to build anything. The person or thing you are waiting for will arrive late. 」
“Believing in your partners, that’s something every trainer should do right?” The shrine maiden muses. She hugs the Rockruff tightly. “I believe in you Cookie!” After Cookie scrambles away, she hands you a couple Pokeballs.
You have received 2 Repeat Balls!

The festival ended with a huge finale of fireworks as a troupe of young women performed a traditional dance. A few young martial art students donned a Arcanine costume and danced across the stage, mimicking the Pokemon’s fierce capability in battle and spreading luck throughout the crowd. The sound of the last firework rung out and people began to gather their things to head home. Madoka hurried to the Torii gate at the front of the shrine, dragging a heavy bag behind her. The trial captain made sure to thank each guest and hand them a Red Envelope before they left. At the end of the night, she leaned against a Stone Lantern, exhausted but satisfied with how well the festival went. Joined by her twin Lycanroc, she retreated back to her cabin for the night. Cleaning could wait until morning, right?

Thank you everyone for your participation in the Cloud Garden Lunar Festival! I had a lot of fun with this and I hope you did too. Just as a note, all prizes were chosen using RNG. The fortune telling was really just for fun, but maybe you can find some meaning from it! 恭禧发财 – Happy Lunar New Year!

"New Year's, huh..."

Jess had never followed much of her heritage's traditions, but with everyone in high spirits for the first ever Lunar Festival held in the land of Fizzy Bubbles, it was hard not to get excited about something she (should claim to have) had some familial familiarity in. At the very least, she had dug out a red and gold embroidered jacket borrowed from her mother, which she now sported as she passed by similarly hued lanterns on her way up the steps to the Stone Shrine, led by the sounds of laughter lighting the way to food and fun.

By her feet trotted three canine companions: a Houndour whose shimmering blue body offset the overwhelming abundance of auburn; a pure white Vulpix of similar peculiar hue; and a plain Poochyena who, while not as colorful as his comrades, blended seamlessly into the stone backdrop, passing easily for one of the statues erected in honor of the coming year's courier. (Cur-ier, rather.)

Upon reaching the entrance gate, they were greeted warmly by the shrine maiden in charge (doubling as the domain's trial captain), along with an intimidating-looking lycan creature Jess had never seen before. Despite her outward appearance, the pooch seemed friendly and docile enough, remaining still save for wagging her tail as she allowed curious children to pet her coat. Jess bowed appreciately in thanks to their host (whilst stumbling through her broken "ancestral" tongue to wish her a Happy New Year), who simply smiled and returned the salutations, directing them to the main building to pick up a complimentary treat.

Thus they made their first stop to pay their respects and receive a charm, however they were once again faced with an even fiercer-looking feral beast, who was clearly keeping a keen eye on the basket of bones to prevent any extra handouts, drooling possessively over the leftover pile (probably promised to her at night's end once each visitor had taken a piece). Jess looked to her trio of pal pups apologetically.

"Sorry guys, looks like it's one per customer."

Link simply nodded and politely passed, letting the ladies(?) select first. Makoto attempted to eagerly approach the bowl, but the guard growled and eyed her skeptically, clearly not considering her species a close enough relative to count. The Vulpix let out an "Auu~" of indignation, but Jess quickly cut in before an argument could break out.

"Here, why don't we let Sheik have a share? Makoto, I have something else special for you that I've been saving."

Jess laid her pack down and pulled out a a Very Hot Cross Bun, proferring it to the peeved 'pix, who perked immediately upon sniffing the steamed bread.

"It's like a meat bun, but extra spicy. Careful, it's hot."

The kit keenly claimed the roll, digging in and devouring deliciousness with gusto. Despite her attunement to a wintry climate, it seemed she was perfectly capable of handling heat as well, polishing off the pastry within seconds. Meanwhile, Sheik quietly lifted a bone by its string from the bin, gracefully and gratefully bowing deep before calmly consuming the confectionary.

From there, the group faced a number of activity options to choose from. While there was the delectable smell of more savory food wafting from further stalls down the way, they decided to save their stomaches for now and check out the entertainment. Makoto seemed especially fascinated by the fireworks, although Jess could catch a mischievous glint in her eye that gave the girl a bad feeling about letting the (newly flame-endowed) fox near any incendiary hazards.

At any rate, since Link had been patient up to now, Jess decided to let him express his desire first. (Makoto again appeared disappointed, but Jess promised they would play with the sparklers later.) The Poochyena opted to wander towards a more secluded area of the shrine, where there stood a table run by a slightly younger-seeming lass than the head maiden. On the surface sat a mysterious box labeled "fortunes", surrounded by several small carvings of another unfamiliar puppy Pokémon - one real specimen of which was seated in the lady's lap and thoroughly enjoying her headpats.

Jess was never one to put much stock in fortunetelling, but she figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Upon hearing the message bestowed upon them, she mused more thoughtfully than she'd anticipated upon it, particuarly the first and last lines:

"Wash off the bad things from the past... The person or thing you are waiting for will arrive late, huh?"

A sigh escaped her lips, then she smiled and thanked the prophet pup and her partner, who beamed and handed her a pair of Repeat Balls. Jess regarded them for a moment with a wistful reminiscence, before pocketing the prizes. As they took their leave, Jess noticed a tree nearby with a number of tags hanging from its branches: like a mobile of hopes and dreams, built by those wishing to turn their luck around. (Again, she felt a pang of melancholy for some reason.) After some debate, she decided to add hers to the dangling diorama as well, lifting Link up so he could help tie the parchment to a high limb.

They then moved on to the aforementioned fireworks, although Jess still seemed somewhat distracted. When it came time for the grand finale itself, they found a comfy spot to watch the dancers and dazzling displays from, blooming like brilliant flowers in the air. As a particularly luminous explosion went off, raining down shimmering shards of vivid shades, Jess whispered to herself under the din:

"It'd be nice if time could be turned back."

She felt fur brush against her body, as Link flopped onto her forearm, curling cozily up against the crook. Makoto, upon seeing this, wavered a bit in hesitation; but eventually jealousy got the best of her as she decided to test out the position as well, determining the temperature and texture were adequate enough as she snuggled against the softness, thus surrounding Jess in the same warmth and weight on each side. Sheik had predictably slipped away into the shadows at some point, but Jess could sense vigilant eyes still looking on from what was surely a short distance; like a protective guardian never straying far, making her feel safe and secure.

"Time passes, people move..." But the one thing that would never change, Jess realized, is that her teammates - friends - would always be there for her. Perhaps she had lost connections in the past year, but she had also made new ones - as well as strengthened some she already had - she thought as she tentatively stroked Makoto's tails, which simultaneously swished in time to the drumbeats. No matter where she wandered in life, this was her home, and whenever she grew weary and needed a break, she could always count on having a "family" here waiting for her.

OoC - Picking up:

1x Dog Treat (feeding to Lv. 17 Shiny Houndour to raise her to Lv. 18 and Bond by 2)
3x Repeat Balls
1x Red Envelope (contains $500)

Also feeding 1x Very Hot Cross Bun to Alolan Vulpix to teach her CROSSFIRE.

Happy belated New Year! Thanks for the fun event~

Felicitous Fireworks

biggggg5: You place The Final Flash on the ground, and surround it with several smaller roman candles you were handed. Marina raised an eyebrow at you. Her Simipour looked a bit tense at the size of the huge firework Hotstuff was about to light. You all back off as the firework begins to smoke. With a hiss and a pop, the first flare shoots up. A second one follows close behind, and then they start coming in a rapid stream. The smaller roman candles catch soon after and they begin shooting out sparks into the air. A cloud of smoke has formed above your collection of fireworks, and within it is a spectacular show of reds, oranges, and yellows. Once it is safe, Marina makes her way over to you.
“I was a bit worried about that big one, but that was really cool!” Marina laughs a bit nervously. She hands you a red disc and wishes you a happy new year.

Fortuitous Food Stalls

Meetan: You and Maram finished up the food you had collected, then located some containers that were being given out so that you could take home even more. Rice cakes, egg custard, jellies, and candies quickly found their way into your possession, and even though you were pretty full you were excited to try them all later. You met up with Maram again at the end of the aisles, and found that she had a container of her own. Unlike yours, your Poochyena had chosen food of the same type. The plastic container she held delicately in her mouth was packed to the brim with berries. Looks like she had a one-track mind.

BAD FORTUNE

「Though it may look silent and peaceful, a problem will appear.
Half of a red flower has become decayed.
Be warned to not think of excessive desire.

It is a bad time to start a trip. Building a new home or relationship may end in disaster. Your requests will take a long time to be granted.」
“I hate giving out the bad ones!” The shrine maiden whines. “I’ll just blame Cookie, give a nicer one next time ok!” She jokingly scolds the Rockruff, who just wags his tail in response. The girl hands over a package of herbs with the Stone Shrine seal neatly printed on the plastic.

Fortuitous Food Stalls

Median Dia: It wasn’t too strange to see two Pokemon on their own wandering through the Food Stalls. Some vendors even anticipated some of the braver wild Pokemon coming to see what was going on, and had left out bowls of food so that they would not have to interact with any humans. Louise absentmindedly chewed on the dumpling she was given, still lost in thought. Meanwhile, Sneachd had found himself surrounded by some teenage girls who were taking pictures and ruffling up his fluffy white fur.
“Leave that little one alone, ladies!” A scolding voice came, and the teens scattered in a flurry of giggles. An elderly man in the traditional garb of the Stone Shrine approached Sneachd sympathetically. “Here you go little one, may you grow strong this year.” The man placed a Rice Cake on the ground in front of the Alolan Vulpix, gave a small bow, and walked away.
You have received a Rice Cake! Feed this to one Pokemon of your choice at the festival and they will gain a level.

Well, the year stopped being new a few months ago, and I'm just now getting to eating this rice ball. These things store well, right...?

*Sneachd was elevated from Lv. 10 to Lv. 11!*

Anyway, thank you kindly for the event, and for letting me clean up the mess after dropping yet again!
