Blaziken UPN PASBL: Connor vs Mercutio

Welcome all to another thrilling Gym Scenario match. This one will be between Connor, who's vying for the Prehistoric Gym, and Mercutio, resident Dragon GL who recently finished up work in another Gym Scenario. We have a fancy arena here, so this battle will surely be full of headaches and/or fun happenings.

Quote:
Connor (Acting GL) vs. Mercutio

4 vs. 4
Singles
Switch = Gym
Slapstick
72 Hour DQ
Spoiler: show
Arena: The Great Valley

The Great Valley is an enormous flatland plain. The plain is wreathed on all sides by huge, sheer walls. One of the most prominent features is the huge river which stretches the entire length of the valley. The river itself is, on average, roughly 20 feet wide. The meandering nature will make this value differ somewhat along the river, but not by a great deal. The river is at most 15 feet deep, sloping quite gently outwards. Most underwater battles will take place at roughly 10 feet, leaving plenty of room for aquatic manoeuvres. The river is fairly slow moving, and most Pokémon will find it easy to clamber out on either side. The bed of the river is rich in nutrients, and Ingrain will be more effective as a consequence. The plain itself is fairly bare immediately at the edges of the river, but is petered with dense patches of trees, which will provide ample cover for the majority of Pokémon. The ground itself is, like the river bed, packed with nutrients, making Ingrain more effective. At the point at which the battle begins, a huge waterfall looms, tumbling down from the sheer walls of the valley. The waterfall feeds directly into the river system, and stands at roughly forty feet high, while little but barren rock land resting beyond the peak of the valley wall.
With that settled, Connor, do the honors por favor.

Edit: NOOOOO I FORGOT THE POST ICON

Edit: nvm fixed

I was an idiot and forgot to mention the level for this. Talked with Kush and it'll be Equiall 3, as a note.

Level 3 Female Aerodactyl

[Mizukawa]

Hidden Power Type - Grass

Aerodactylite attached.

[Biography] - TBC

[Species Characteristic] - Aerodactyl are a terrifying sight to some Pokémon. Against any Pokémon that would reasonably be afraid of Aerodactyl, an Aerodactyl’s fear-inducing attacks are more effective. Its biting attacks do slightly more damage. In its Mega Form Aerodactyl gains a number of sharp spikes, making physical contact and grabbing/wrap attacks painful for the Pokémon wrapping it. These spikes also increase the power of its physical contact attacks, increasing them by 10%, as well as giving them the potential to pierce or slash.

---------------------------

Level 3 Female Lileep

[Marry]

Hidden Power Type - Steel

Harvester's Token attached.

[Biography] - TBC

[Species Characteristic] - Lileep can stick to the ground to absorb nutrients. Lifting or trying to move this Pokémon will count as it having double weight. Lileep's Ingrain is more effective then normal. While it is capable of movement when not rooted down, it is quite slow, as it must hop around to get around. As a sea lily, its natural habitat is the ocean, allowing it to stay underwater indefinitely. It is capable of seeing in the dark.

---------------------------

Level 3 Male Cranidos

[Hisashi]

[Hidden Power Type] - Water

[Biography] - Hisashi has always wondered why his species possesses the ability to create a Whirlwind. The rather awkward application of exhaling powerful gusts from their mouth confused the Cranidos, as he could never find a method of using the attack to gain a considerable advantage in battle. As such, he determined to improve his ability to control the Whirlwind, in hopes of producing a technique more suited to the rigors of combat. The Cranidos began to take inspiration from the ability of other Pokemon to compress and manipulate the form of their wind based attacks, and as such began vigorous training in hopes of obtaining the same ability. Eventually, Hisashi gained the ability to manipulate his Whirlwind attack, using it to create compact bullets of air. However, in doing so, Hisashi became unable to use Whirlwind in its original form, as his lungs no longer held the required capacity, becoming more adept at technical manipulation than at powerful exhalation.

Signature Move - Fuuton: Renkuudan

Hisashi exhales a bullet of compressed air imbued with Flying- type energy. The bullet travels incredibly quickly, and is as such very difficult to evade. The bullet deals Significant Flying- type damage upon striking the opponent, and costs Heavy energy to use. Hisashi has enough Flying- type energy to use this attack twice. Hisashi can no longer use Whirlwind, Screech, Incinerate or Dragon Pulse.

[Species Characteristic] - Cranidos's extremely hard and somewhat pointed skull gives it a 25% boost in head-based attacks. However, its skull is very vulnerable, and attacks targeting this area do more damage.

---------------------------

Level 3 Male Yanmega

[Seto]

Hidden Power Type - Fighting

Biography - Seto loves to make noise. So much, in fact, that he has perfected it to an art, able to alter the frequency of his wings with an incredible degree of accuracy.

Signature Move - Distortion Waves

Seto looses a blast of sound, infused with Ground- type energy. These sound waves will deal Ground- type damage, with the total damage dealt ranging from Good to Major damage, depending on the hardness of the opponent's body in a similar vein to Rock Smash. The damage dealt will be judged by referee's discretion. These waves also possess a 15% chance to inflict Confusion. This attack requires Significant Ground- type energy irrespective of how much damage it deals, and Seto has type energy enough to use the attack twice per battle.

[Species Characteristic] - Yanmega makes a humming noise as it flaps its wings. This makes it easier to locate, however, the noise is very irritating close up, and any Pokémon within 10 feet of Yanma have a 15% chance of flinching from the sound (20% if the Pokémon has sensitive hearing). Yanmega can see in the dark.

---------------------------

Level 3 Female Kabutops

[Kisume]

Hidden Power Type - Grass

[Biography] - TBC

[Species Characteristic] - Unlike its previous form, itfs a fairly sleek swimmer. It is equally at home in or out of the water.

---------------------------

Level 3 Female Piloswine

[Aisu]

Hidden Power Type - Water

Biography - Aisu is, quite simply, a little bit of a sadist. This has manifested in her slowly gaining a much more refined control over her Ice- type moves, granting them a ... sharper edge.

Signature Training - Execution Edges

Aisu has learned how to manipulate her Ice Shard and Icicle Crash attacks, making them much sharper than they were originally. This has gave them an added Crush Claw effect, with Ice Shard almost always inflicting the effect and Icicle Crash having a similar chance to Crush Claw. Due to the higher degree of control needed while fashioning these attacks following the control, Aisu's Ice Shard and Icicle Crash attacks require 15% extra energy to execute.

[Species Characteristic] - Piloswine has a large amount of fur, which keeps it warm in otherwise unbearably cold temperatures. While its vision is obscured by its fur, this makes attacks that blind (such as Flash) weaker and eye-contact attacks (such as Leer) more difficult to execute. To compensate, Piloswine has an excellent sense of smell.

Ok then. Thanks, Charm, hopefully you can keep these going vaguely regularly.

Connor, I quite like this arena, sort of like mine but a bit nicer. We'll see how it works out for you, I think I can see a few things you might wish to (re)consider but I'll wait until we've done a few rounds before solidifying those thoughts. It's definitely got space for your swimmers and fliers to utilise all three dimensions, which is good.

As for your squad, not quite the gaping Grass weakness I was hoping for but a number of common weaknesses which I'm sure you're aware of. They seem to be covered reasonably well. Lack of sigs is probably my bad, I suspect you'll want to use those to counter strategic weaknesses. Mega Aerodactyl will be a major threat I'm sure.

I should finish by saying that I'm not sure of promoting you on the basis of the few matches in your app as it stood a few days ago. It's a work in progress so that's by no means a final assessment, but I have a personal distaste for Equiall in 'serious' matches which isn't going to do you any favours :p Show me something impressive, maybe even beat me handily, and maybe I'll get in your corner.

Mozz Badge (Global Badge)
Badge Effect
: When used, all Pokémon on trainer's team will have one minor type have double the energy as it usually would have. A "minor type" is defined as one that is not the Pokémon's primary or secondary type, and the Pokémon has at least 1 but no more than 4 offensive, damage dealing moves of said type. This includes all possible moves that the Pokémon knows, so this includes event moves, added moves via signature trainings, et al. The trainer may select the type for each Pokémon when they are first sent out. If no type satisfies the badge requirements, the type with the least known moves MUST be chosen. This does not increase total energy.

ZoraKangaskhan (Level 3 male Kangaskhan); ZoraKangaskhan is one of my older pokémon. A male Kangaskhan, thus without a child of his own to carry around like something out of The Pacifier, ZoraKangaskhan is free to concentrate on his unorthodox style of battling and creating his amusing put downs. Zora has always been one for destroying the opponents with words, as opposed to battles, and with an uncanny ability to always be right the Normal type is often the winner of arguments on a wide variety of topics. In addition to his trolling prowess, Zora is an able fighter, utilising his skills with wordplay to confuse and worry his opponents whilst moving to ramp up his destructive capabilities. With his signature move, Zora is a mainstay of my Gym squad and is often called upon to face down opponents who want to engage in fisticuffs. Zora is gay, and thus is attracted his fellow males in the ASB as opposed to females as might be expected.
Hidden Power: Psychic.
Signature Move: "Ultra Troll" (Normal); Using decent energy, Zora bulks himself up both physically and mentally. His weight increases to roughly 240lbs and his physical attack strength is increased by 20%. His physical speed and agility decrease by 20%. While the boost is active, Zora is highly resistant to Taunt, Swagger and Torment. Standard boost stipulations apply, physical moves taking 20% extra energy to perform, and Zora can use this move twice per battle. Zora cannot use Curse or Focus Punch.

Zeke (Level 3 genderless Porygon2); Zeke was created with stolen technology from the Devon Corporation. Its code is modified to encompass elements of higher evolutions, as well as artificial pokémon yet to be revealed to the world at large. Its programming includes battle strategies, historical records and other elements designed to make him a superior foe. A key feature of this is the ability to enact a tactical retreat when the situation requires different tactics in order for success, disorientating and disrupting the opponent in the process in order to swiftly exit. Unfortunately, it still requires orders to function and thus is not as implacable a foe as its designers might have liked. In addition to its dependence on human orders, it contains multiple flaws and errors which hamper certain elements of its battling ability and make it a risk to the health of those nearby. It is incomplete, preventing it from utilising the most powerful of attacks available. I acquired its programming in an auction and managed to coax it in to life. Grateful to me for freeing it from its cybernetic bondage, it joined my squad and has become a staple ever since.
Signature Move: "Electric Soldier Porygon" (Normal); Charging significant energy, Zeke releases a bright burst of light at its opponent. The target experiences a 10% drop in their special defence, which has standard boost stipulations. The remaining energy is used by Zeke to return to its pokeball, with a new pokémon being sent out into the field. When the new pokémon is sent out, it gains the exact physical and psychological mindset of Zeke in the same manner as Volt Switch. This attack deals no damage and can be used once per battle.

Ruby (Level 3 genderless Staryu); Ruby was a pokémon I captured very early in my journey. With a glowing core and an affinity for special moves, it has always been a valued member of my team. It showed great aptitude at blasting targets to smithereens with ranged moves and, over time, learned to be formidable at close range as well. However, with an aggressive trainer like myself in command, it soon figured out that it needed a way to keep its energy levels up in battle. Often, it would end up running hot after only a few minutes in battle, the toll of constantly churning out high yield attacks too much for it. To this end, it developed a trait that would allow it to use the restoring powers of water to gain back some energy. While no substitute for conservative battling, it does a great job of showing off Ruby's aquatic attributes.
Hidden Power: Dark.
Signature Trait: "Hydro Power"; At the end of every round in which Ruby is touching a decent sized body of water and not at maximum energy, it will restore a light amount of energy. Up to 1/3 of its total energy may be restored in this way. Polluted water will cause slower regeneration, with only minor energy restored, while purified or highly oxygenated water can allow for faster regeneration with mild energy restored. Only decent sized bodies of water such as a river or lake can trigger this effect. Rainfall and small puddles are insufficient. Ruby cannot use Rest or Giga Impact.

Greg (Level 3 male Electabuzz); Sometimes I wonder why Greg first appeared to us. I think he was attracted to the charge coming off of Phantasmic's training sessions. Whatever the reason, he came charging into our campsite and started laying the smack down on everything in sight. Luckily Marus was on hand to roast him with a Flamethrower, and we prepared to move on. Before we left, though, I took a look. On this closer inspection I decided to capture this unusual specimen. He's generally pretty sound, and very reliable in battle. Even before we began our specialised training, he was always a mainstay of my squads. With evolution, he's gained an appreciation for the colour red, and no longer becomes enraged when he sees it. He also knows the value of occasionally playing dirty, but he has shown an increased level of maturity upon reaching his final form. This maturity has allowed us to begin training him to be something more, something special (whilst also being incredibly clichéd. Greg worked with my Hariyama, Infernape and Poliwrath in order to focus his Fighting typed energies to their most potent form. Constant practicing has left him an expert in the art of kick boxing and, while this is not a real martial art, it does provide some useful skills when facing tough opponents. Superior conditioning with Louis has left him lean and fit, constant exercise with Chunky allowing him the strength and skill necessary to use Fighting type moves to their full effectiveness and focussed meditation with Mario has left him able to prepare his mind effectively enough to wield his skills in the heat of battle. This work is generally evidenced by the addition of a new move and a greater ability to relentlessly punch things in the face.
Hidden Power: Flying.
Signature Trait: "Destruction"; Greg is familiar with the Fighting type and can use Close Combat. He cannot use Fire typed attacks or the move Giga Impact.

Chunky (Level 3 male Hariyama); Chunky was always sensitive about his weight, wondering if it was the reason all the girl Makuhita were ignoring him because of it. He used to make himself feel better with the Wii that he had for some reason, endlessly beating his enemies online with Brawl and Wario, his favourite character. Then one day he realized that the reason that the girls were ignoring him was because he wasn't joining in with all of the Makuhita games and beating the crap out of his friends. He resolved to change his ways, forever putting away the Cheetos and chocolate milkshakes of his youth. But one thing remained with him from those heady days; Wario is oddly aerial for a fat guy. Chunky is gay, meaning that moves such as Attract work if used by male pokémon, not female.
Hidden Power: Flying.
Signature Trait: "One Two Jump"; After a bit of training, Chunky can double jump, just like the characters on Super Smash Bros. To do so, he jumps twice (counting as a single move), platformed by non damaging energy discharges that appear from his feet. Doing this costs the energy of two Agility dodges. He can jump up to twice his own height (measured from the top of his head). He will not be injured if he lands correctly, having practised hard, but if knocked off course will take a decent amount of recoil damage upon hitting the ground. Attacks like Body Slam which are used after a Double Jump do 10% more damage. Chunky is unable to use Fire Punch, as he spent the time he should of been learning it learning this new technique.

Branch (Level 3 male Grovyle); My Sceptile has undergone a reawakening. Gone is the persona of 'Sid', the sullen and heartsick Grovyle of old. In its place is Branch, who is essentially the pokémon version of a stereotypical hippie with a touch of John McClane thrown in for good measure. While he's pretty easy going and laid back, he's tuned into the patterns of Mother Earth and this new awareness has made him seem slightly aloof to a few members of my squad. His link to the forces of nature also grants him a link to the healing powers of the earth. His link with Mother Nature is breathtaking, his ails and ills mysteriously healed before their effects can even be felt.
Hidden Power: Ice.
Signature Trait: "Nature's Blessing"; At the end of every round in which Branch is touching the ground and not at maximum health, he will restore a mild amount of health. Up to 1/3 of his total health may be restored in this way. This effect stacks with all other healing factors Branch possesses naturally as a Grass type. The effect only works if Branch is on 'natural' terrain, such as the Lawn arena or an outdoor Sand arena. It will not work on terrain such as a concrete arena or a metal floor. Branch cannot use Toxic and cannot use any Steel typed moves.

Zeke, with doubled Steel energy, start us off please.

Yeah, I'm aware the app as it stands isn't anywhere near strong enough, don't worry. I'm still not even terribly comfortable with the Pokemon I've chosen, and I'm realising in retrospect I probably should've brought Tangrowth. Hariyama can just sit on most my Pokemon.

Regardless! Hisashi, let's roll. Begin by shooting a Smack Down at him, and follow up with Ancientpower.

That it can. Though I considered swapping him out for Metang or Magneton as you've a decent Steel and Electric weakness.

Zeke, stay low, gamble with Conversion 2 and see how well a Thunder Wave works.

Round 1: The Great Valley Conversion Center

With all things settled, the combatents release their balls into the air, unleashing Hisashi the Cranidos on the hopeful-GL's side and Zeke a Porygon2 from Mercutio Targaryen, the father of dragons. The two Pokemon eye each other up within the plain lands, Hisashi giving off a low growl as Zeke nonchalantly hovers just a teenie bit above the ground, as commanded.

Quote:
Cranidos (Rock): Cranidos's extremely hard and somewhat pointed skull gives it a 25% boost in head-based attacks. However, its skull is very vulnerable, and attacks targeting this area do more damage.

Porygon2 (Normal): Porygon is sleeker, and hence faster than Porygon, but less agile. Porygon and Porygon 2 are capable of hovering, which gives them greater maneuverability but restricts how high they can fly (about 10 feet above the surface or so, though they typically float about a foot off the ground unless ordered otherwise).
Hisashi kicks the round off with his natural element, opening his mouth wide as a small orb of rock energy forms within it. This orb is soon shot as it soars at an impressive rate into the Porgyon. The cyber-mon shouts, or whatever computer-created Pokemon do, in pain as he plops harmlessly onto the plain floor- charging up energy in the mean time in the hopes of not having to deal with that rocky pain again. To it's joy, it soon finds itself glowing a faint brown for a brief moment, the after effects changing its primary-typing to Ground! The prehistoric scowls at the sudden change in his foe's typing, but continues his orders nonetheless, channeling his ancient blood to form yet another rock orb, firing it off to hit the Ground-type Zeke for a resisted hit. To the Cranidos' surprise, however, he sees himself glow briefly as the Ancient Power seems to have boosted his stats! Yippee. The Porgyon2 scoffs, not to bothered, as he spends the remainder of the round locking Hisashi's muscles up with several tendrils of electricity- effectively paralyzing him.

Summary:

Zeke took the brunt of the damage this round, though it wasn't too bad. He also used more energy, but is doing alright for now. Hisashi is still somewhat fresh, though paralyzed.

As soon as Hidden Power strikes, give chase while you unload an Ice Beam on him. Afterwards, Focus Energy.

Round 2: Wow, Cranidos actually has a solid movepool

With his foe nice and paralyzed, Zeke begins to make his way towards the nearby river, his eyes glowing a dirty brown for a brief moment before several orbs of the same color swirl around him. With a nod of his head, the orbs fly across and smack into the immobile t-rex for a large hit! Though the Cranidos cringes from the impact, he finds himself free of the paralysis, giving a sharp grin before running forward and emitting a chilly blast of energy. The Ice Beam zig-zags it's way towards the Porygon2, chilling him for a nice typespammy blow before he makes it into the river. Zeke then spends the remainder of the round heading deeper under water, getting about 10 feet deep as Hisashi boosts some of his already boosted stats by focusing some of his energy. Cool.

Summary:

Damage was exchanged on both sides, and Hisashi continues to maintain the lead while Zeke is almost past his first third. Zeke used less energy and is doing well, while Hisashi used a tad more, though he's still good for a two. Ice energy can fuel a weakened Ice Beam.

Back away from the river slowly, let's bring him to you. Once you've got a decent distance, shroud yourself within a Sandstorm.

Round 3: i c u

Hisashi isn't quite pleased with his inorganic opponent retreating to the safeties of the river, though instead of giving chase, he backs away. As he does this, Zeke begins to steadily rise up, soon poking his head out of the water as he sees the Cranidos a couple meters away beginning to spin around. What's he doing? the Porygon2 might be asking himself, but he soon finds his question answered as several dirt particles begin to rip from the plain grounds it sat on, whirling around the prehistoric in an impressive storm as the cyber mon's alertness goes way up, locking his eyes onto the Cranidos in the center of the storm. Within a few moments, several brown orbs circle around Zeke once again, before flying off towards its intended target. The energy orbs pass through the dirt without much trouble, several of them slamming into the spinning Hisashi for a nice hit- stopping his dance in the process as he rubs away at his boo boos. A decent dirtstorm has been created by this point, however, and will continue to go on for another 2 rounds.

Summary:

Hisashi and Zeke are now about even in health, both a tad bit above their second third. Hisashi enjoyed the one-mover, while Zeke should be good for a two-mover next round.

A pair of Hidden Power volleys should do nicely. Head further out across the surface as you go and stay as low as you can.

Run towards the river, chasing after him while firing a Hidden Power of you own. Afterwards, stay on your toes and dart along the riverbank, shooting an Ice Beam as you do.

Round 4: Orbs Orbs Orbs

Zeke remains near the surface of the water, his head poking out as he gradually moves across the river before his eyes glow and orbs circle around him once more. Hisashi has gotten bored of his dirtstorm at this point and runs towards the river, his eyes glowing a dark brown as several orbs of that hue form around him. With the flick of their heads, the two combatents fire off their Hidden Power, the orbs flying towards each other as some collide and dissipate through the crossfire, while others make it through to smack their intended targets for some damage. Though Hisashi definitely felt the worst of it due to his weakness. His running has halted, but he has made it pretty close to the river and his opponent at this point, a target so clear that he preps the remnants of his ice energy for one last beam which chills up the Porygon2 for some impressive damage. However, being so close to the water allowed some of the energy to freeze up a decent amount of water to Zeke's head! The cyber mon pouts at the annoyance, but continues his orders nonetheless, creating another ring of brown orbs around himself before firing it into the Cranidos for a large hit.

Summary:

Hisashi has fallen below the half point while Zeke is a tad bit above that mark. Zeke is beginning to tire and would appreciate a one-mover, while Hisashi should be okay for next round.

Going to point out here Hisashi has Hidden Power Water, and I'm fairly sure you had Porygon2 become Ground- type. Sorry if you didn't miss that, just the refereeing seems to make it seem only Hisashi took Super Effective damage from the Hidden Power.

Anyway! Start off by firing him a Round, then retreat towards the nearby trees, using a move to retreat all the way if necessary.

Round 5: Distance

@Connor: Oopsies, I factored in the additional damage, but it's not too ground breaking. Hisashi has also used his one allowed Hidden Power Water.

Hisashi begins the round with his song of choice. His horrid notes lace with normal energy as a cone-shaped mass of sound waves strike true to the Porgyon2, who doesn't do much to stop it as chunks of the ice on his head break off to smithereens. Zeke shrugs off the blast, instead focusing on his converted inner power as more brown orbs swirl around him before flying off to the Cranidos who was beginning to back away. The volley barrages the poor prehistoric as he finally makes his way to the trees. Zeke, meanwhile dipped himself into the water, the now smaller block of ice on his head adds a bit of weight, but he manages to move further to the depths with not too much struggling. He then glows brown briefly as the ground-typing of his Conversion leaves his system.

Summary:

Hisashi has entered into his final third as Zeke is now holding a reasonable lead. They both feel refreshed and are raring to go. I should also point out that Hisashi's Ancient Power boost is all but gone while the Focus Energy boost is very slight and will fade completely next round.
