You might feel like killing yourself while trying that... Drayano's made it shit difficult with Champ-AI Gym Leaders and rivals, with overpowered Pokemon and double/triple/rotation battles, which you cannot even skip!

Ground is possible (and you end up with a good team, actually) but you just need to hack in a Drillbur or something or just get past the first Gym without a Ground type.

played some on Crystal, as well as some Blue. The states of my teams are as such currently:
Crystal: Phanpy Lv 11 Onix Lv 10 (Rocky) Geodude Lv 9 backup Phanpy Lv 2 (Elm Egg) I gave Mud-Slap to Phanpy because his level up pool sucks for some time, and a STAB is at least a meh use of the TM. Backup Phanpy is because I want a Water Gun!Phanpy later on, and my main one is a male Phanpy. One badge. <3 Phanpy <3 On Blue, I've gotten farther, and have 2 badges. Misty was surprisingly not too hard. Geodude did most of the work, getting Starmie's health down to about a third or so, and Sandslash finished it. Of course, Geodude did it by going kamikaze, but can't argue with results. Realised too late I had missed my opportunity for an early-game Nidoran, so that will be my first post-Cut priority. My current team: Sandslash Lv 27 Dugtrio Lv 27 Geodude Lv 22 Dugtrio has a surprisingly passable Special stat, I've noticed, for his type. Too bad he has no special moves... I'm not saying I do use emulators, but if I did, and if I needed a DS one so I could do this in Gen IV-V, as well as a couple hacks, hypothetically, would anyone know where to download a good program for it? And hypothetically, could they PM me with said information? Purely hypothetical, of course. EDIT: > Jeri Oh, I just meant that, hypothetically, if I needed a program to do it on my computer, I don't currently have one. Hypothetically. |

We're not like Serebii and don't pretend that emulators don't exist.
They're not hard to find. Just look around. |

Fighting it is then! I did a fighting monotype way back on LG, which I'm sure I made some commentary on in the SPPf monotype thread (will find if I can) so going to start up HG (which I've never actually finished - whoops).

A wry aside: I love how all of you plan to put in the roughly 100 hours necessary to complete this challenge (@ roughly 20 hours per Story Mode) rather than put it towards either the

I'm kind of out of the country and don't exactly have the money to put down for a legitimate copy, so I can't exactly do that.
Also, realized an error in the chart; I assumed that the Crystal Wilds were transferred to HGSS, but that's not totally true, which means there's no Poliwag in Route 30 and therefore Fighting has no one until post-Falkner. |

If Pokemon Conquest looked good, I would have bought it. It doesn't, so I get to play other games/ROMs instead. Yaaaaaaaay
I was thinking about doing this, would probably try for Psychic or Electric, but I'm too lazy to play video games and have other things I should play =/ |

Maybe it gives some of us a chance to rediscover some old favourites and find new ones, though. And me being financially challenged, as I'm sure some others here are, makes it very difficult to get any newer games. So being able to go through the older ones, reliving experiences and making completely new ones, is a very fun thing to do.
That aside, not much to really report on my monotypes. Played a little BB this morning, but I'm not monoing that yet because I want to really explore it all first. Going to go for a Wooper on Crystal tonight. |

It's the yearly visit!

I think I'm going to start a run with Electrics going FR->HG->Ruby->Platinum, currently can't do Black but that might change. Will be slow going but should be fun.
EDIT: Decided to go with Yellow instead of Firered because Pikachu. So, I started my game up, naming my character Joss, and facing off against my angst-filled, wooden rival Angel. I go off into the grass, get stopped by an old professor, dragged back into the lab etc. So, eventually, I get my Pikachu (called Buffy) who I then promptly use to thrash my rival's Eevee. The pair of us then head out into the grass, training a lot until we reach level ten. Getting the standard free potion, delivering the parcel and going through early game stuff is pretty standard, and I fight my way through Viridian Forest with no real issue. Knowing that Brock was to be trouble, I trained up for a significant amount of time outside Pewter, and got myself a double team attack. Using double team, tail whip and one Handy potion, I whooped Brock down a few levels, and got myself a nice badge. I then swept through the trainers up to Mount Moon, then swept through the trainers in Mount Moon, eventually getting myself a Dome Fossil just because I could. Furthermore, I arrived in Cerulian City, and got myself a Bulbasaur for no real reason (Jenny) and deposited it into storage. I then went straight to the Gym and kicked all kinds of butt. Then, beat my friendly rival Angel with his annoying sullenness, and crushed Nugget Bridge. That brings me right up to now. Badges Owned: 2 Buffy: Level 26 Pikachu Thunderbolt Quick Attack Slam Double Team Adventure awaits! Last edited by Handymankg2; 06-22-2012 at 04:21 PM. |

Totally doing this. But, there is one thing I would like to say, because I can actually do this.
Gold/Silver/Crystal's Time Machine. If I wanted to do a mono-Psychic run, I could bring a Mewtwo in and troll before the fourth gym battle. Not that I would(or would I? ;P), but I could it get a little out of hand. I may just leave it to random.org.

So I'm out of Victory road with a Sceptile, Lombre, Gloom, and Breloom all around Lv. 42. Grinding to prepare for the E4.
Edit: Two hours down the road and I have a Lv. 48 Vileplume and Ludicolo, Lv. 51 Breloom, and Lv. 53 Sceptile. Wheeeeeeee. I don't think I've ever done the RSE E4. If I did, it was probably nine years ago. o.o Edit: hnyaaaaaaaa beat e4. Team: Lvl 62 Sceptile Lvl 59 Breloom Lvl 55 Ludipineapple Lvl 52 Vileplume Lv 26 Tropius whew. As much as I hate ludi, he was the reason I survived drake because I ran out of PP on Sceptile's rock tomb. HERE I COME, PLATINUM Last edited by Ethereal; 06-23-2012 at 10:01 PM. |
