My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!

Alrighty, I've watched the episode again with a clear head and my opinions have changed some.

Applejack was out of character but not as horribly as I thought at first. I must have not paid attention to the beginning, because the sendoff and all of the things said were crucial to the story and honestly if I had paid attention I probably would have been able to call the plot right there. But, that being said, it's understandable why AJ had decided to not return. But this doesn't excuse her treatment of everypony else. She was being dodgy, certainly and understandably, but she wasn't at all phased that they came to look for her because they cared so much, and wore a legit poker face the entire time. She was often times rude to them... why? It wasn't necessary. She could have just as easily been stubborn but the nice and polite character we've seen her as this entire time. I also feel like as tight nit as she is with her family, she was quick to abandon them and it was alarming. But yes, she never lied, but she was 'quibbling', which basically resulted in her being dishonest while being honest, if that makes any sense. A loophole in her element.

I don't know why I care so much, I try to not over analyze, especially with a cartoon, but it did bother. The ending was definitely a lot more uplifting and redeeming than I had realized though. It was really sincere and sad. As someone else pointed out, Rainbow Dash was also out of her element of loyalty by leaving Rarity and Pinkie in the dust. Also dat crying. Definitely not Dashie-like at all for her to cry, which I found adorable.

Now for some of the best moments, and why it was the strongest episode of S2 thus far: CHIMMY CHERRY, OR CHERRY CHONGA? PICKLEBARREL! KUMQUAT!, "I gotta get the heck outta dodge!", I Love Lucy, "RARITYCATCHME", Pinkie RAGE (and subsequently the reutrn of the misnamed Pinkie Pie Swear), Derpy, Derpy, Derpy, Derpy, Derpy, Derpy, Big Mac's manly tears, Derpy, Applebloom looking adorable in AJ's hat, Rainbow Dash's smile when talking about Calamity Mane, etc. Way too many standout moments. There needs to be more episodes like this, where, as you said, the group's dynamics bounce off of each other, although I imagine they're harder to write for, not to mention they only seem to be in 'adventure' based episodes. Definitely a return to form from S1, and we need a lot more episodes like it. Probably the best episode this season, and very reflective of Dragonshy and, of course, Over a Barrel. MORE LIKE THIS PLEASE HASBRO KTHNX

I don't care much about it though. I actually feel bad that Derpy's on screen minute stole what would have been AJ's first good episode.

Holy HELL that was a good episode. And breaking news, everypony: Pinkie is no longer worst pony! That title belongs to Twilight!

Even though Pinkie startled Fluttershy. HOW COULD YOU PINKIE

On a serious note, I don't get the Applejack hate. She's the element of Honesty, not the element of Testifying-in-court.

Derpy was awesome, though I'd prefer her to not be a silly pony. But obviously that's me.

Big Mac crying manly tears was awesome. Basically, easily the best episode.

In other news, I almost joined the team to help make Fallout: Equestria - The Game, but I decided to opt out (too many things going on all at once... I was also offered to host a MLP remix radio show. Still haven't made my mind up about that...)

The age-old series "My Little Pony" is a piece of internet culture. And like so much of Internet culture, it all began on 4chan, an anarchic website where anyone can post pictures, anonymously and uncontrolled. Eventually the pastel-colored ponies appeared on it, got commented on, and were assembled and mutated into icons of Net culture: 



"Because they became friends and could reason together, they can solve their problems. That’s what the Net brings about as well. Very different characters think together and find resolutions. This is really the same thing -- but depicted using ponies," 
says party worker and pony expert Stephan Urbach, who introduced his ponies into the Rules of Procedure of the Berlin Pirate Party:
