Aya dug her way out from the pile of snow and continued the chase despite feeling extremely beat up at this point. Patches was having a hard time keeping up and eventually she even tripped over herself and fell into the snow, losing Aya in the distance almost instantly. “… You can do it Aya.” She said under her breath as she fought the urge to make more snow angels and got back up to brush herself off. Once her leggings were cleared of snow she held an arm over her head to block the hail that was coming down and continued forward, only slower this time, knowing that she will reunite with Aya soon. Aya was hurting but she knew that she was needed. The sun was beginning to set and if this problem wasn’t taken care of soon then there was going to be the added obstacle of darkness. She had fallen behind so once again she uses her Agility to catch up to the Beartic. In order to fill the time it would take her to close the gap she decided to release a Shock Wave in the Beartic’s direction. She wasn’t sure she would be able to catch up completely so instead, once she’s in hearing range, she’ll give it a taste of her Hyper Voice!

Eskil can only watch in horror as it tears through everyone’s attacks. And everyone. Khione hangs on after the first heavy hit, but falls to the second, and none of the remaining Pokemon are in good shape. For whatever reason, the Beartic is determined to reach the town, no matter the obstacles. Worse yet, the Hail it calls forth seems to have sped it up. Eskil can only hope that the trainers in the town have had enough time to wake the townspeople and muster some sort of defense, because it is abundantly clear that they don’t have enough power to stop it here. He recalls Khione quickly. The sheer strength of the Beartic is daunting, and Eskil realizes he is ill equipped to deal with it. Even if Belial was at full strength, the Beartic has shown itself more than capable of using moves that would make quick work of him. Unfortunately, the same could be said of all of his Pokemon. Beartic would make short work of all of them. ...Nyx is staring at him. “Home stretch.” She says calmly, over the deteriorating weather. It is impossible to miss what she is suggesting. Still, he ignores it. “Belial might be recovered enough to do some damage. Or at least burn the damn thing.” He argues. “Don’t be intentionally obtuse, Eskil. It doesn’t suit you.” She counters. His shoulders slump just a bit. They could stand here in the hail arguing all day, but time is of the essence. He’d end up losing the argument, anyway. “Be careful. Please?” He says in a small voice. It isn’t a realistic request, not in this situation. But he has to say it. “Of course.” She knows it too. But going through the motions is a comfort. “Charm it, then kick some snow into its eyes with Sand Attack, and hit it with an Iron Tail.” Eskil says, after a moment. They need to mitigate Beartic’s strength somehow, given how quickly it took out the first wave of Pokemon. Options are limited in that regard, but Nyx will do what she can to help. Nyx nods in agreement. “Try not to freeze while I’m gone. We have to buy you an actual scarf after this is over.” Her cheek presses against his firmly for a long moment, and then she gracefully leaps into the snow. It feels too final. “Be back in a bit!” She calls. Turning towards the desperate battle, her form erupts into light. Eskil can only watch in shock as it fades, revealing a new, larger form. A Liepard. She takes off without looking back, longer legs closing the distance quickly. (Evolution is another one of those things he is more familiar with in the abstract.) It feels a lot colder with her gone. (Member Post) |

and nuzzled his head against Austin's hand. The teen gave the Pokemon a good head rub before taking out his dex. Scanning over the Snorunt, he learned she was a female. Seems Marie was going to have another ghastly friend. Thinking of a name for her, he eventually decided on Aya. He then pocketed Aya's ball and grabbed Nick's. Seems fire isn't going to be the best strategy here. Oh well, he had a back up in case that wasn't going to work. He returned the fox to his home, and took out a Pokeball wrapped in an ethereal green glow. It was time for Marie to come out and play. He send out the Gengar, and she gave him a cold stare. "Serious kiddo, it's freezing!" She yelled at him, obvious not happy to leave the warmth of her Pokeball. "Shut up! Fire isn't working here. Anyways, see that Froslass? That is our target. I know you like beating up ghosts," Austin sneered, already ready with his retort to the moody Pokemon. "You know it! I swear if I ever see a Chandelure I'm kicking the absolute crap out of it. Not Wisp though... He's an exception," Marie muttered under her breath. "Now is not the time to think about that past! Also, what was that about a Chandelure?" Austin questioned. "Crap. Uh, nothing kid. I said nothing! Anyways enough chitchat. Orders please!" "Okay, okay fine. Ominous Wind the Froslass! Follow up by closing the distance with a Shadow Punch and finish off with a Fire Punch!" Austin ordered. OOC: Switching out Nick the Ninetales to Marie the Gengar

The Abominable Snowdown A Cloud Garden Winter Campaign Town: Ironthunder, Raves, Patches, morningstar, lilbluecorsola, OkikuMew, Median Dia, CyberBlastoise, Schala, biggggg5, PikaGod, Rotom310 Beartic continued its march forward with no intention of slowing down. It bellowed a fierce roar as trainers and townsfolk lined up with their Pokemon to try and stop it, hell-bent on making it to Galea Town where it would certainly cause mass destruction. If there ever was a time to put a stop to the rampaging beast, the time was now. Hail continued to pelt the earth from above which only seemed to fuel the polar bear further, giving it some pep in its step. With the sun beginning to set over the mountain’s horizon, the Beartic was now surrounded. Before it stood the townsfolk with a few of the trainers who had quelled the Smoochum’s revolt while to its back were the trainers who battled it by the carriage. Despite all of this, Beartic hardly felt threatened or trapped and proceeded forward. Occupying the mob of Cubchoo that followed was a group of villagers’ Pokemon, leaving only the Beartic to be dealt with. Looking to launch the attack to hold off the Beartic, Jet ordered for his Staraptor to strike it fast. The bird of prey chirped and darted forward, hitting it with a Quick Attack, but the Beartic seemed to brush it away like a fly. Seeking revenge from earlier, Aya the Furret quickly caught up to the bear using her Agility once again and blasted it with an electrifying Shock Wave. Beartic groaned and Slashed at her for good damage. As Aya succumbed to her wounds, she belted out a screeching Hyper Voice before fainting in the snow. With Beartic stunned by the loud attack, reaching up to hold its ringing ears, Éclair the Mawile hurried up to it and began to Tickle its sides before Playing Roughly and kicking and scrapping at its belly. Beartic was no amused to say the least and blew a chilling Icy Wind right in her face. After taking the hit, Éclair absorbed the damage into a small ball of energy and hurled the Metal Burst right back at Beartic for moderate damage. Nyx the newly evolved Liepard darted up next, hoping to Charm the beast into lowing its guard before pawing a Sand Attack in its face. Unfortunately, all she was able to kick up was a paw full of snow, which had little effect on the polar bear. Not to be deterred, Nyx spun around and whacked the Beartic hard with her Iron Tail. Beartic groaned and Punched Nyx with a fist full of Ice. Soleil the Eevee made her reappearance next as the Pokemon from town finally caught up and joined the fray. Soleil quickly Whipped Beartic with her Tail before releasing a flurry of Swift stars from point-blank. Annoyed, Beartic was about to destroy the small Eevee with a devastating attack when it was blasted backward by a boosted Flash Cannon from Geddy the Tynamo. Swift the Finneon joined in with a Water Gun, further holding the Beartic back. It was furious now, roaring angrily as another Swift from Soleil bounced off of its fur. As another Water Gun from Swift and a Flash Cannon from Geddy pushed it back once more, Beartic began swirling with blue energy as it had before. Beartic released an Avalanche of snow and ice, crushing Soleil, Swift, and Geddy in the process. All three of the Pokemon hung on, but they were quite battered from the strike. Looking to put the Beartic down for good, Isaac the Alolan Marowak made his return to power up his finishing move. The Marowak began by Focusing his Energy as he stood in the Beartic’s path. Beartic had no intention of stopping or diverting its path, so it proceeded forward in preparation to go right through the bone-wielding Pokemon. Isaac stood firm and stared the beast in the eyes. He began to pound on his Belly like a Drum; while hurting himself in the process, the mental fortitude psyched himself up to astronomical levels. With his health now lowered much more than it was before, the question would be whether Isaac would even be able to launch his next attack. Hoping to buy the Marowak some time, Jet’s Staraptor slammed into Beartic with a powerful Close Combat. Beartic bellowed in pain and grabbed the bird out of the air, pinning it to the ground and knocking it out cold with an Ice Punch. Turning its attention back to Isaac, Beartic looked ready to strike once again. Swift though about using his wiles to try and Attract the bear, but a quick scan from Bill’s Pokedex showed that it was in fact male and did not like fishsticks. The Beartic’s rear suddenly felt hot and it turned around to see a small Caterpie named Calem somehow breathing a Flamethrower in its direction. As Calem launched a second stream of fire, Beartic growled and Slashed its claws right through the Flamethrower and knocked the Caterpie back. By now, Isaac had finished his preparations, looking primed and ready to attack. Beartic shot out a Brine of salt water, but was off target as a String Shot from Calem yanked its head down. Joining his Pokemon in combat, Alex stood behind Isaac with his Z-Ring shining. Alex pumped his fists in the air before pivoting onto one knee and flexed from the side. A surge of energy from the rocks from the earth all around them flowed into Isaac. As Isaac jumped high into the air, a number of rocks flew up towards him, collecting to form a massive boulder the size of a house. Like a meteor, Isaac collected the massive boulder in his hands and hurled it down at the Beartic. The massive Continental Crush collided with the earth with an incredible explosive force. Snow and ice went flying everywhere, and the force of the attack created a wind that sent many Pokemon flying. Everyone stood by on baited breath as the snow and wind slowly cleared the sky and the hail quieted down until is ceased entirely. As the boulder crumbled away, leaving a large pile of rubble in its wake, the arm of Beartic emerged from the rocks to give the crowd a pause before slumping over, limp. The Beartic was down for the count, which lead to a roar of cheers. “We did it!” Jet cried out, “Great work everyone, we wouldn’t have been able to do it without all of you!” ~~~~~~~ Meanwhile, a couple of trainers held back in the Rose Garden to make sure things were taken care of over there and the inhabitants of the garden were safe. The four garden queens had chased out most of the Swinub and Vulpix, but a few stragglers remained. Miapladicus the Staryu stared down the Vulpix it had been fighting from before and fired off a Psywave that knocked it back. Vulpix countered with an Ice Shard to little effect, and after another Water Gun from the Staryu, Vulpix began to stagger. Chroma pulled out a Pokeball and hurled it at the fox, pulling it inside as it began to shake. Once… twice… three times… before coming to a halt with a successful “Ding!” Congratulations, Chroma has captured a lv.10 male Alolan Vulpix! Hurrying back to the garden to make sure her friends were okay, Jess was caught off guard by the weakened mewing of a Vulpix that had fallen to Epona’s attack from before. The sight of the pitiful creature tugged on her heart strings, and Jess instinctively moved to tend to it. She quickly reached into her bag and pulled out a Casteliacone (it’s a mystery how those things don’t ever make a mess in one’s bag) before offering it to the Vulpix to eat and regain its strength. The Vulpix refused the treat initially, but it was hard for the ice type to resist the frosty treat for long and happily accepted the food. Looking to adopt the wounded creature that had been separated from its group, Jess offered for it to join her team by holding out an all-white Snow Ball. The Vulpix pressed its paw to the ball, and it clicked open and pulled it inside. The ball shook three times before coming to a halt with a successful “Ding!” Congratulations, Jess has captured a lv.10 female Alolan Vulpix! ~~~~~~~ With the threat of the Beartic now gone and the waves of enemy Pokemon dispersed, the imminent danger facing the town was finally over. There was still plenty of work to be done however, and the townsfolk had to move quickly. They slowly cleared out the rubble to reveal the unconscious form of the massive Beartic. A few rangers had arrived, finally done with rescuing stranded hikers and trainers on the mountain, and helped load the Beartic onto a large sled. After making sure it was tied down and tranquilized, they set off with a Mudsdale to tow the creature to a safer section of the wilderness away from civilization. Jet gathered up the remaining trainers, including the ones who were at the garden and orchard into the other Mudsdale-drawn carriage. Also tagging along was Samuel, who had arrived from the Orchard. “Since things are finally calm here, let’s head over to the waterfall and help out where we can.” There was little time to spare as it was beginning to get quite dark outside, so the carriage set off westward towards the Starline Waterfall. |

The strength of the trainers and Pokemon on the battlefield was obviously waning. However, with a rally cry from Athena, spirits were raised. The trial captain and her Mawile continued to focus on the crowd of Pokemon around them. Mawile sent out Fairy Winds to hit two or three Pokemon at a time and knock them out. Snowball the Mamoswine assisted by Thrashing through the crowd of Ice-types and sending them flying up into the air with her tusks. Glalie seemed to be noticing that his reinforcements were growing thin.
A strange aura surrounded Kilogram the Steelix as he raised his stats with Curse. He raised himself high into the air and came down with a Heavy Slam on a nearby Bergmite. The small Ice type Pokemon could only look up in absolute horror as the heavy Steel type brought himself down. After the cloud of snow and dust cleared, the Bergmite was just barely struggling to blow an Icy Wind to attack Kilogram and repair some of the cracks in its glacial body. Hyrem, surrounded by the warmth of his Pokemon, saw the opportunity to throw a Christmas Ball at the weakened Bergmite. The festive Pokeball shook weakly as Bergmite attempted to free itself, but it soon succumbed and the ball stopped moving with a satisfying click. Hyrem has caught a Lv. 14 Male Bergmite! Despite an overwhelming feeling of doom, Alice found some luck with landing right on her targeted Pokemon. Maasa splashed a Bomb of Mud on the Snorunt which was attempting to flee the trainer. The Swinub raced in front of the Snorunt to stop it in its tracks, then sprayed Mud Shot right in its face. The mud that was now covering Snorunt began to freeze, causing it to be unable to move. Maasa tried Biting Snorunt, but ended up just getting a mouthful of caked dirt. Alice tossed a Pokeball at the unmoving target, who could not even see the ball heading his way. The Pokeball barely shook before it let out a click, locking the Pokemon inside. Alice has caught a Lv. 14 Male Snorunt! Another Snorunt was currently being engaged in conversation with Tate. The Snorunt shook where it stood in the snow, a blank look on its face as Tate talked with it about their plans. The Pokemon didn't seem to understand that it was creating a problem, and with a shrug it started to walk away as Tate dug through their bag for a Pokeball. Pahalo, who was Roosting nearby called out to get her trainer’s attention before Snorunt got away. They threw it after the Snorunt, and the ball landed on the tip of the pointy Ice-type. It disappeared into the ball and caused it to shake a few times. After the third shake, the Pokeball clicked, remaining still in the snow for Tate to retrieve. Tate has caught a Lv. 12 Female Snorunt! After Jayson shouted his intentions to finish off the Froslass, the Ice and Ghost type flew into a hysteric rage. Each one of her Double Team clones screamed in fury. Odysseus the Magneton unleashed Magnetic Bombs, causing illusions of Froslass to disappear. Pahalo joined in with Dark Pulse, dispelling more clones with blasts of dark energy. It was down to just two Froslass. Lucas’ Mamoswine Snowball joined the group fighting Froslass, and took a moment to Sleuth the Odor of the real Froslass. She barreled through the last clone, causing it to disappear with the snow and wind. Once the true Froslass was left, she sent a Icy Wind at Odysseus, knocking another Magnet Bomb out of the air. Pahalo came down with Steel Wing, slicing into the Ice-type’s body. She screamed again, and the sound carried on the wind and echoed all around the waterfall. She prepared an Ice Shard only to be hit by Odysseus' last Magnet Bomb. Still in a blind rage, she formed several Shadow Balls and sent them at Odysseus. Luckily for the Magneton, it was only hit by one and the others were blown away by an Ominous Wind from Marie the Gengar. The super effective wind tossed Froslass in all directions. Draping an arm dramatically over her forehead, Froslass fainted and collapsed to the ground. Rorik's sparkling Stahl took on the positon of support for the team. It raised a Screen of Light that shielded its allies. Conjuring the mysterious powers of the cosmos, the Starmie drew attention to itself, shining brightly as if it were being hit by a Spotlight. Glalie's attention was drawn to Stahl as if it was a Wingull locating a new treasure for its nest. Over the howling wind, Keith directed Meowth to start by tricking Glalie with Feint Attack. The Mega Pokemon's tough body seemed unaffected by the attack, but when Meowth attacked again with Iron Tail, it hissed in pain.It turned from Stahl to Meowth, attempting to Bite at the small creature before it leapt away. The purple gem inlaid in Keith's bracelet sparkled, and his partner Meowth was surrounded with Z-power. Keith went through the motions to unleash Meowth's Z-move, ending with his arms out and imbuing the spirit of Poison. Using Gunk Shot as a base, Meowth released a Downpour of deadly Acid. The dark purple substance rained down on Glalie, sizzling as it hit it and the snow on the ground. Glalie roared and began to shake, attempting to get the poison off of itself. Droplets of the acid flew off of Glalie and landed on Stahl, Marie, Snowball and Meowth as well. Glalie heaved, the poison slowly taking its toll on its entire body. In a bright flash of light, it returned to its normal form. In anger, it Headbutted the ground and the icy walls several times, and both captured and wild Pokemon had to run to protect themselves from its rage. An Aura Sphere sent by Raphael smashed into Glalie. Melissa’s Mar, floating with Magnet Rise and its Defenses raised with the power of Iron, and egged Glalie on with Spite. It roared and sent out a much weaker Icy Wind, which only blew Raphael and Mar back a bit. Gary’s Blastoise charged up another Aura Sphere and hurled it right in Glalie’s face. It attempted to get its attackers away once more with Icy Wind, but Mar had depleted the power of the move. It let out a distressed cry, Struggling to continue the battle. It frantically smashed into the ground again and tried to loose enough snow to throw at its attackers. Glalie finally smashed itself hard into the frozen waterfall, causing it an Avalanche of ice and snow from the top to fall. It covered the Glalie completely in snow and ice as it was finally knocked out. The wind slowed, and it even felt like the temperature had raised a few degrees. “Gather up!” Athena directed, she returned her Mawile back to its Pokeball as the remaining Pokemon returned to the wild. “Is everyone ok?” She performed a quick headcount to make sure that they had not lost anyone in the fight. The trial captain was relieved to see everyone’s tired faces. There was the sound of jingling bells and hooves on snow, and the Waterfall group turned to see a carriage full of the trainers who had stayed back in the town. They looked just as exhausted. Please refer to Sandaa's post for further instructions! |

The town had been saved and the waterfall had been reclaimed, but the danger surrounding the Cloud Garden was far from over. “Great work so far everyone, I’m proud of all of you and thankful for your bravery,” Athena addressed the trainers. It was getting quite dark out now, and waterfall remained encased in a pillar of ice. “I think it would be a good idea to set up camp and regroup in the morning,” Athena added. A pair of Lycanrocs suddenly descended the mountain trail from the east; the midday one looking a bit worn-out while the midnight one looking raring to go. “You guys are welcome to stay at the Stone Shrine,” a voice called out from behind them, revealing Madoka the shrine maiden. “We finally managed to chase the invaders out.”
Beside Madoka was Marina and her Poliwrath, looking pretty exhausted as well. Samuel the woodsman spoke up next, “You lot did a fine job to get us this far. Now it’s the Cloud Garden’s trial captains’ time to shine!” Athena, Jet, Marina, Madoka, and Samuel all stepped forward and nodded at each other. They each sent forth a Pokemon, revealing Athena’s Mawile, Jet’s Drifblim, Marina’s Poliwrath, Madoka’s midnight-form Lycanroc, and Samuel’s Kabutops. The five Pokemon moved forward to the giant frozen pillar of ice and readied themselves. Jet’s Drifblim floated up into the air and casted a Hex upon the pillar of ice. Madoka’s Lycanroc cracked the ice’s foundation to the frozen river underfoot with a Stone Edge. Athena’s Mawile shook the pillar with a cracking Iron Head while Samuel’s Kabutops chipped away at the weak spots with a Night Slash. Lastly, Marina’s Poliwrath gathered all of his remaining energy and poured it into his fist. Poliwrath cocked his fist back and hammered the ice with a devastating Dynamic Punch that shattered the entire pillar. Shards of ice accompanied by a torrent of water cascaded down from the sky as the waterfall began flowing like it normally was supposed to. The captains cheered and quickly recalled their Pokemon to avoid getting hit. They all quickly hurried off the icy river as the pressure of water slowly began to crack and break up the ice underneath the falls. “Alright, let’s go get some rest,” Athena called out with a yawn as she and Madoka escorted the group of trainers up the short mountain trail that led to the Stone Shrine. The shrine itself was an open plateau that was up against the steep cliff side that accompanied the waterfall. There were a few scattered trees and rock formations to the sides, but the central part was neatly decorated with rows of stone lanterns and a giant red Torii gate at the main southern entrance. Toward the mountainside was a magnificent and old shrine building with a building to either side of it; to the left being a cabin for travelers to stay and to the right an administrative building for the shrine’s daily operations. “Since there’s a lot of people, I hope you all don’t mind staying in sleeping bags in the central room,” Madoka explained. With everyone physically and mentally exhausted from the day’s action, the trainers quietly mingled amongst themselves while the trial captains served them a warm soup for dinner. Soon after, everyone eventually went to bed where the captains took turns on lookout with little to report. ~~~~~~~ Morning seemed to come almost too fast as beams of sunlight flared through the windows into the cabin. Being a natural early riser, Madoka was already up and stepped outside to sweep when she exclaimed, “Oh my gosh! Everyone come quickly!” There was a rush to the door as trainers hurried outside in anticipation of another attack. However, what lay before them were stacks of neatly wrapped gifts. They were all unmarked boxes but featured a small ribbon that held them together with a neatly-tied bow. After counting each of them, there appeared to be the same number of gifts as there were trainers present. “How peculiar…” Athena mused, picking one up. It wasn’t too heavy. After pulling on the string, Athena’s box opened up, releasing a soft flash of bright energy that flowed through her body. She gasped but then moments later let out a giggle. “Wow, I feel great! It’s like I’m re-energized!” Holding up her Pokeballs, her Altaria and Clefable reappeared, just as energetic and at full health. “Open yours too, everyone!” The gifts were distributed one by one until everyone was handed a gift. As they were opened up, a similar effect went off to what Athena experienced. At the bottom of the boxes were a small card that read “Merry Christmas!” and a Revive and an Aspear Berry as well. Everyone has received the following: 1x ReviveThe following Pokemon are fully healed and receive the following levels (if a Pokemon is lv.100, you shall receive an equivalent number of rare candies to levels received): Alex: Nuhuko the Lunatone (1), Isaac the Alolan Marowak (4), Attila the Larvitar (2)With the gifts given out, everyone refreshed and restored, and breakfast served, it was time to head out and make their way up the waterfall. The trainers followed the captains back down the mountain trail towards the waterfall, where they found a large makeshift raft awaiting them. Samuel had apparently worked through the night building it from a couple of fallen trees and appeared quite exhausted. “It might not look like much, but it’ll hold. I bet my entire craft on it,” he smiled, flexing his bicep. The logs had been neatly cut and tied together with a few ropes being held up by none other than Jet’s Drifblim. “All aboard!” Jet called out, helping the trainers onto it. There was about just enough space for everyone, as long as most of the Pokemon remained in their Pokeballs. With one hard tug, Drifblim slowly began to pull the raft off the ground. It was assisted by the strength of Marina’s Poliwrath, who pushed it from underneath toward the waterfall. Not to be outdone, Marina’s Gyarados came out as well to help drive the raft up the waterfall from underneath. Samuel and Madoka waved goodbye from the ground, wishing everyone good luck as they ascended the falls. “If you aren’t good with heights, please stay in the middle of the raft,” Athena called out as the raft swayed ever so slightly. It was a slightly-unnerving few minutes, but eventually the raft made it to the top of the cliff where Gyarados pushed it onto the riverbank. At this point, Drifblim, Gyarados, and Poliwrath were simply too tired to continue, so Marina and Jet decided it would be best to secure a base camp here while the rest moved ahead. A chilling winter gale blew across the mountainside. “The air is a lot thinner up here, so bundle up and preserve your energy,” Athena called out, wrapping a scarf around her neck. It was certainly colder up here than it was down on the plains. ~~~~~~~ The group proceeded up the trail to the northeast, where Athena had detected some unusual activity on the mountain before all of this started. They passed by another enshrined area known as the Cloud Shrine; Jet’s usual base of operations when the mountain isn’t being taken over by ice types. They then crossed a small and frozen section of the Starline River, which weaved its way around the mountain and flowed down into the waterfalls. Up here, the river acted as a natural boundary for the Burnt Forest; a section of woods that typically smolders all year long. Once across the river, all that lay before the trainers lay a stretch of endless plains completely covered in snow. On the horizon stretched a steep slope of mountain going straight up while a rather low ceiling of clouds orbited around the mountain’s peak like a halo. As they approached the mountain slope, a rather large cave stood before them. “There didn’t used to be a cave here…” Athena murmured, a bit perplexed. However, loose snow and rocks all around the area were clear signs of a recent rockslide or avalanche causing this cave to become unearthed. “Something must have pushed its way out, from the looks of it…” Athena slowly approached the cave before looking around. A small white orb floated down beside Athena, almost appearing like a snowflake. She slowly stared at it for a moment as a couple other orbs floated their way down. The first orb suddenly burst with a pop, scattering some rocks by her feet. “Oh no… Everyone get back!” she called out, turning to run. The other orbs exploded as well, to much greater effect as their booms echoed across the cave entrance. Just as the dust and rocks began to settle, the ground began to shake causing a number of icicles to crash down from the cave’s ceiling. A loud bellowing moan erupted from the interior of the cave and a harsh Blizzard of icy wind followed. “That can’t be good,” Athena whispered as she stood in front of the group to try and protect them. While she was but a teenage girl, she felt responsible for bringing all of these people to this perilous situation. The earth continued to shake as a massive shadow appeared from deep within the cave. THUD. The creature inside smacked aside a stalagmite that was in its way. A chunk of rock went flying out of the cave and crashed into the snow not too far from where the trainers stood. As the creature drew nearer its frosty breath could be heard echoing through the cave while the temperature dropped drastically with each passing moment. Glaring red eyes could be spotted coming from the darkness. As the trainers slowly back away from the cave’s entrance, a few more energy bombs floated down from above. “Guys, let’s fall back!” Athena cried out, “Head back in the direction we came from, towards the river!” She didn’t need to tell anyone twice to get out of there as the group of trainers turned tail to retreat. Looking back as they ran, a massive, giant beast erupted from the cave coated in white and green fur while imposing spikes covered its back. It resembled a creature known as Abomasnow, but it was nothing like the ones native to the frosty region of Sinnoh’s Mt. Coronet. It was rounder and bigger- much bigger in what some might identify as a Mega Evolution of Abomasnow. On top of that, this beast appeared twice as large as any Pokedex would indicate, maybe even larger than that. The Abomasnow let out another bellowing roar, breathing a powerful Blizzard at the fleeing trainers’ heels. Fortunately for them, it did not leave the cave’s immediate entrance to pursue the group. ~~~~~~~ Back at the river crossing that they had passed over earlier, Athena slowly caught her breath. “This is awful… Who knew such a beast was sleeping inside the mountain all along?” She bit her lip, trying to think of a plan. “There’s no doubt that it’s the cause of all of this. We’re going to need to take it down somehow. The only problem are those pesky bombers up above the cliff side. I’ve got an idea though. We’ll need some trainers to hold off the Abomasnow and distract it while I lead a group up an old mountain path I know of and take care of the pests. There’s an old section of the Cloud Garden called Delibird Ridge, and I can guarantee you those are the culprits behind those bombs! I can’t imagine they’re all bad though, or who else would have left us those presents at the Stone Shrine this morning?” Athena looked up to the sky as pellets of Hail trickled down from above. She paused for a minute to let the trainers decide what they were going to do. Would they be brave enough to take on the beastly Abomasnow or would they follow her up the mountain path to Delibird Ridge? The battles from here on out were only going to get more intense than ever before, but with everyone’s help they might just be able to take down the leader of all the ice Pokemon. What would they choose? It’s finally time for the climactic battle of the Abominable Snowdown! In your reply please indicate which path you wish to choose. You will be able to change actions each round, so do not feel like you will be locked into a specific group this time! Regardless of which path you choose, it is recommended that you have a Pokemon ready to fight with up to three attacks in mind! Remember, teamwork is the key to victory!

After taking a beating from all the trainers attacks, the Beartic finally succumbs to its wounds. Bill rushed forward and started to dig into the snow, finally finding Swift underneath it. He was a lot more resilient than he looked and it showed. While Swift did take a lot of damage, he was happy to see Bill's face, even if it normally was the source of Swift's annoyance from time to time. Afterwards, the Beartic was taken away, presumably to a place with less civilization. Swift was recalled for a nice rest. "Now what?" Bill asked to no one in particular. It seemed like the ice types were driven back from the town, so now all that was left was to help with the waterfall. The town's team weren't the only ones that accomplished a major milestone, as the other group managed to conquer the area up to the waterfall, defeating a pair of particularly tough Pokemon, a Glalie and a Froslass. Bill was thankful that the town was only attacked by one super powerful beast, but the day wasn't over yet, not by a long shot. Near the waterfall was a trail that led up to a large shrine. It was here that everyone was to rest for the day. Bill had no problems with sleeping in a sleeping bag at all. During his travels, he would have to sleep in much worse conditions, and he felt that the same could be said of most, if not all, of these other trainers. Morning came quickly. Bill had managed to sleep like a log, but it seemed like that today was filled with some sort of surprise. Presents were left at the shrine and handed out to each of the people. Bill opened his as a bask of light filled him and his Pokemon with energy, restoring their health. It was one of the most relaxing feelings that Bill had felt in a long time. Eventually, they had descended the trail at the base of the waterfall. The group of trainers were all gathered to ascend the waterfall, itself. Bill didn't mind the ride up and stayed near the side, after all he had a couple of water types that could help out easily. When the group made it to the top, they had split again, some would stay behind to make a base of operations while others, including Bill, would press onwards. Eventually they reached a cave, but they would soon learn that it wasn't unoccupied. A massive Pokemon, a Mega Abomasnow showed its raw strength to the group, causing a mass retreat. Bill's eyes widened as he saw the aggressive creature. He was one of the last to leave due to hesitation. He only had four Pokemon on him, two of them were Water types, one was a Rock type, and the last was a Ground type. All of those were weak to Abomasnow's two types, Ice and Grass. The escort that led them decided that the best place of attack would be Delibird Ridge, a now-closed place in the Cloud Garden. Apparently, she wanted to do a pincer movement against the Abomasnow, and as such needed some trainers to stay behind to distract the behemoth. There was no way Bill was going to fight against that creature with his Pokemon as they are, so he volunteered to go through Delibird Ridge. As he got onto the Mudsdale caravan, he pulled out Trono, his Alolan Geodude. "What is it, sir?" Trono asked. "Trono, now that you've seen the others in action, it's your turn to try and fight," Bill told his young Rock and Electric type. "What? But, sir, am I ready?" "one way to find out," Bill gave a smile and a thumbs-up. "Okay so these Delibird might be aggressive, let them attack first, since we don't know friend from foe. If they do, I want you to use Defense Curl to block the attack. Afterwards, use your Rock Polish to speed yourself up and give yourself an advantage. Follow it up with a Tackle Understood?" What Bill did not realize was that Tackle would actually be given super effective damage due to Galvanize, since this was the first time Trono was actually put in battle. "Yes sir, I will not let you down," Trono gave a salute. --------------------- Megas is at level 6. Silver is at level 19. Silver learned Bite and Rapid Spin. Swift is at level 14. "Struggle- a desperation move a Pokémon will use when it lacks the power to use any of its other attacks," droned the device. "Highly inefficient, Struggle will cause the user to expend large amounts of its own health, regardless of how effective the move actually is." And with that, Glalie slammed hard into the frozen waterfall, causing a deluge of ice and snow to fall upon it from above, knocking it out once and for all. "Yes!" Keith exclaimed in relief, gathering with the others at Athena's word. Meowth resumed his usual position on Keith's shoulder, and Keith himself climbed back onto Vinny (having temporarily dismounted in order to do the necessary poses for Acid Downpour), while Athena performed a quick headcount, discovering to her relief that everyone was present and accounted for. Soon afterwards, they were joined by the Trainers who had remained behind in town- they looked no less worn-out, telling Keith that there must have been just as much intense action going on in town. And soon, the trial captains of Cloud Garden were springing into action. Athena's Mawile, Madoka's Midnight Lycanroc, as well as a Drifblim, a Poliwrath, and a Kabutops, chipped away at the icy pillar until they were able to shatter the ice and get the waterfall flowing once more. After this, Athena voiced the very welcome notion of getting some rest. "Best idea I've heard all day," Keith called in response, grinning. "Let's get movin', then, hat man," Vinny responded, following Athena and Medoka as they led the Trainers onward to the Stone Shrine. Once at their destination, Keith was able to finally relax, talk to some of the other Trainers, complement some on the awesome job their Pokémon did back at the waterfall, discuss the Pokémon they'd caught (during which Keith decided that he would nickname his new Cryogonal Winter), and later on, enjoy a very welcome and warming dinner of hot soup. It wasn't Hermione's cooking, but by no means was it a poor substitute either. And at last, the group was off to sleep for the night. Vinny was back in his Rocket Ball, but Meowth slept right beside his Trainer. ~~~ Keith yawned and stretched as he woke up the next day, awoken by Madoka excitedly calling for everyone to come quickly. Groggily, half-asleep, Keith scooped up a snoring Meowth in his arms and headed outside, ready to react at a moment's notice, to battle once more. "Gah, what in the Distortion World is attacking us this ti- holy crap," Keith murmured as he finally got outside and saw what awaited- neatly stacked piles of neatly wrapped presents. And a quick count confirmed that there was one for each Trainer present. Athena tested the waters by opening her present first- it unleashed a flash of light, and it seemed to revitalize not only Athena, but her Pokémon as well. Keith exchanged looks with Meowth, who was now awake (though I use the term loosely here), and raced to grab a Present of his own. Pulling the string, Keith felt the soothing flash of light. "Ahhh," Keith and Meowth sighed simultaneously. "Man," Meowth remarked, now fully awake and re-energized. "Now dat was good!" "Ohh, yeah," Keith grinned. "Hey, I wonder," he added, producing a Poison Ball and Level Ball. "If Athena's Clefable and Altaria were healed as well, then maybe... Go, Aster! Go, Kyle!" And with that, he tossed up the spheres. From the Poison Ball, a pink Toxapex appeared with a swirl of sapphire stars, and from the Level Ball, there emerged Keith's trusty Heatmor. Both of them looked just as happy and energetic as ever, neither of them showing any signs of damage from the previous day's intense battling. "You guys feeling better?" Keith grinned. "Heat! Mor!" Kyle nodded. "Toxa~" Aster added, jumping up and hugging Keith. It took her some practice, as her legs looked quite different, but she was eventually able to hug him without hurting him, and likewise, Keith was able to work out a way to hug Aster despite the body within the dome of legs being rather smaller now. Following a much-appreciated breakfast, the group was off once more, back to the waterfall. Keith rode on Vinny once more, but once they got there, it was clear that the Camerupt would need to sit out this next leg of the journey, for it was to take place on a makeshift raft. Only Meowth remained out of his ball and on Keith's shoulder as the Poison-type Trainer boarded the raft. The Drifblim from yesterday was the one pulling the raft into the water, though the Poliwrath helped as well, and even a Gyarados propelled the raft up the waterfall. It was a long and slow climb, and once they were at the top, the trio was simply too tired to keep going. A base camp was established where they went ashore, and the group of Trainers forged onwards. Keith sent Vinny back out, knowing he'd need the Camerupt for both transport and heat as they continued. He had to sit out the trek across the frozen river, so as to not break or melt the ice, but other than that, Keith rode Vinny practically the whole way. Finally, they came to a large cave. Most ominously, Athena remarked that no such cave existed here previously, before small, white orbs began to descend upon them, almost like snowflakes... until they burst. The group retreated from the blasts with great haste, avoiding damage for the most part. And then, to add to the ever-growing sense of general unease, a bellowing roar and a howling Blizzard came forth from the cave, causing Keith and Meowth to exchange worried glances. And the ground shook with every footstep made by... whatever the hell was in that cave. It sounded massive, and Keith could not blame Athena for ordering them to retreat towards the river. And as they did so, Keith looked back, his jaw dropping as he saw a massive Mega Abomasnow emerge from the cave, blasting yet another Blizzard their way. Back at the frozen river, Athena voiced the notion that that Mega Abomasnow was the cause of the entire frozen fiasco, and stated that it had to be taken down. And of course, the bombers from before- likely Delibird from Delibird Ridge- had to be dealt with. It now fell to the Trainers to decide- do they volunteer to go after the Delibird, or face off against the Abomasnow? Keith clutched a Level Ball in his hand. Kyle hadn't had the best of luck against Mega Glalie yesterday, but against an Abomasnow, Mega or not, gigantic or otherwise, fire was their friend. Keith had complete and total faith in his Heatmor, and it was with that total confidence that he spoke up. "I'll help against Abomasnow," he said, tossing the Level Ball. "Kyle, let's go!" And in a flash of light, Keith's Heatmor appeared once more. "Heat..." he murmured, eyeing the falling Hail. "Heatmor heat?" he said to Keith. Keith nodded. "There's a Mega Abomasnow back that way, Kyle," he said. "And we're gonna help take it on. First thing we'll need to do is try and turn the environment in our favor, so when we get there, I want you to open with Sunny Day, and hopefully you won't be the only one going for that move." "Mor," nodded Kyle, looking around at the gathered Trainers, before turning back to Keith. "And then," Keith continued, "go for a Fire Spin that'll keep that terrible tree rooted to the spot, and follow up with your Inferno attack!" *Aster grew to level 39!* *Aster grew to level 40!* *Kyle grew to level 37!* *Kyle grew to level 38!* *Meowth grew to level 28!* *Meowth grew to level 29!* *Meowth grew to level 30!* *Obtained the Revive!* *Obtained the Aspear Berry!* |

The Glalie and Froslass eventually fell, sealing victory for the Waterfall team who were soon joined by those who had fought to defend the town. The weary trainers were glad for the wins, but aware that the fight was not yet over. In need of a place to rest, they were all invited to spend the night at the Stone Shrine. Jayson welcomed the opportunity to take off his boots and allow them to dry, aided by the warmth of Balerion's and Thowra's flames. They had managed to get through the day, but Jayson suspected that an even stronger threat awaited them further up the mountain. One of his team members suspected his concern, he could feel Sigurd's mind pressing against his own. "We need to be more prepared, we fought well but we need to do better." In a burst of light the Kirlia released himself from his Pokeball to confront the rest of the weary team. Since joining the team, the experienced Kirlia had quickly gained favour among Jayson's Pokemon, and with the trainer himself. As well as being a more than capable battler, the Psychic type possessed a sharp mind and a compassionate heart. On top of all that, Sigurd possessed Telepathic abilities, allowing him to communicate with his trainer like none of his other Pokemon could. "I believe it is time for me to take my rightful place on this team. You know of what I speak and you know now is the time. It is time for me to evolve and assume the mantle of team leader." The Kirlia looked out of the corner of his eye, watching to see Spartacus's reaction. The old Scizor had been leading Jayson's team for quite a while, a threat to his leadership would likely not be well received. "That decision isn't mine to make Sigurd", explained Jayson, "if you wish to become leader, than you must best Spartacus." The Kirlia nodded as he turned and approached Spartacus, the Scizor stood over the Psychic type as it approached. "You have led this team well Spartacus, but you're growing older and this team needs a sharper mind to lead it. Relinquish your role and had over the Dawn Stone." Sigurd prepared himself, well aware that the Scizor wouldn't simply agree to his request. "You're right Sigurd", replied Spartacus, "I am growing old and you would make a competent leader. However you must show me that you are strong enough now, before you evolve. If you plan to use evolution as a crutch, then you're not strong at all. One attack, whoever comes out on top assumes the mantle of team leader." Jayson and the rest of his present team watched on as the two Pokemon discussed the issue. Jayson wasn't privy to the details, but when the two moved to a clear area and stood across from one another, he knew what was going down. Spartacus began to glisten, powering himself up with the bond he shared with Jayson, planning to strike with a full powered Return. Sigurd remained still, hands pressed in front of his chest, eyes closed. As the Scizor lunged forward, wings beating fiercely as he comes at the Kirlia like a red streak, Sigurd's eyes snap open. A beam of dragon energy fires from between his hands, the Dragon Pulse surges forward, clashing with the incoming Spartacus. The Scizor pushes against the pulse, gaining ground slowly but surely. Sigurd pushes back, the beam almost doubling in size as he puts every ounce of power into the attack. Spartacus soon finds himself out matched, losing ground to beam he is sent flying backwards. Jayson rises to his feet as Sigurd's chest heaves, the Kirlia had won. Spartacus rises back to his feet, shrugging off the blow. While he could easily continue fighting, he had been bested and he was a mon of his word. Approaching the Kirlia, he thrusts his right claw out, stopping a mere inch from Sigurd's face. The Kirlia doesn't even blink, well aware that the Scizor no longer posed a threat to him. Smirking, Spartacus opens his claw to reveal a glistening Dawn Stone. "You're the leader now Sigurd, know that you will always have my council and support." Sigurd gratefully accepts the Dawn Stone, holding it in both hands as he begins to glow. "Your knowledge and support are much appreciated Spartacus, you're still a valuable part of this team." Sigurd turned to face Jayson, his body quickly becoming enveloped in light as his body begins to stretch and change. Jayson watched as the Kirlia grew and developed, more than tripling in height. His arms developed, becoming longer and broader as he took on a more masculine appearance. As the light finally faded, Sigurd stood before him as a Gallade. The newly evolved Psychic and Fighting type immediately dropped the one knee, pulling one of its blade like arms across its chest. "I pledge my fealty to you Jayson, I swear to serve you to the best of my ability and lead your team with courage." Jayson smiled, he knew that the Gallade meant every word, he trusted him completely. Digging into his bag, Jayson retrieved something he had been saving for this moment. The Superhero Cape fluttered as he whipped it around and over Sigurd's shoulders. As he tied the cape, Sigurd felt power surge through his body. "Rise Sigurd, my loyal companion and leader of my Pokemon. Let this cape symbolize your position and aid you in the battles to come." Jayson thrusted his hand out to grasp the Gallade's arm, pulling the fighter back to his feet. "It is probably best that we get some rest now, the fight tomorrow will likely be one for the ages." Sigurd and the rest of the Pokemon nodded. Jayson recalled them all into their Pokeballs, except for Sigurd who slept alongside him. Sigurd evolved into Gallade! Sigurd was given the Superhero Cape! The morning came quicker than anticipated, Jayson would have prefered another hour or two to replenish himself. With Sigurd at his side, the pair followed the rest of the group as they were ferried up to the second tier of the Cloud Garden. Jayson had been to the Burnt Forest once before, Balerion had been born here. It was nothing like it was then however, it was blanketed in snow and there was a strange feeling in the air. The cause of this was soon apparent as a gigantic Abomasnow emerged, it seemed that it too was Mega Evolved. Jayson found this strange, that Mega Evolutions were occurring without the presence of trainers, there had to be a reason behind it. Sigurd's cape fluttered violently as the weather picked up once more, this was going to be tough. As the trainers prepared themselves, Jayson thought it best to test the conditions. "Sigurd we have work to do", Jayson gritted his teeth, "make use of your cape to leap into the sky, coming down with an Aerial Ace! Work around its flank and trap it in with a Rock Tomb." "It's a good a plan as any", replied the Gallade as he prepared to jump into battle, "I will then hit it with a Drain Punch, this Hail will wear me down otherwise." "Waaaak..." Isaac growled as he found his foe before him, focusing energy to find it at its most vulnerable, staring the monster in the eyes as he drummed on his belly, the pain empowering him, yet it appeared the Beartic had no intention of stopping anytime soon. "Damn, we can't afford to lose here. Guys, we need to stall it for just a moment or two until we're ready!" Alex cried out, and his call was answered as Jet's Staraptor sacrificed itself to barrel into the ice pokemon, going all out and getting in its face before being shut down with its icy fist. "Nearly there...watch yourself, Isaac!" he called out once more, hurrying as fast as he could to get to a position where he could unleash the full potential of the mysterious crystal, but his heart sank as the Beartic began to ready an attack...only to pause. The ursine turned to its rear to discover a small green worm was roasting it with a flamethrower. "What the...no. Alex, focus!" The would-be saviour Caterpie was unceremoniously dislodged with a swipe of claws the size of the insect, and the next few seconds of that battle were in slow motion for the human and fire type. The Beartic's mouth bubbled, a salty orb of water readied as it turned to Isaac, who was ready to strike...but if that Brine lands, with Isaac weakened as he is, we're doused...so we'll just have to be faster...the Beartic reared head back, preparing to fire at the one pokemon between it and town, and as Isaac stared defiantly, as Alex finally got the Rockium Z inserted into the Z-Ring and felt the power within, a miracle came to light. The Caterpie, down but most certainly not out, spat a spray of string and tugged with all its might on it. It wasn't enough to bring the Beartic down, but it was only just enough to divert the spray of briny water to miss the Marowak by a matter of feet. "Whoever owns that bug, we owe you one!" he barked, as the energy from the crystal almost seemed to possess him. Pumping arms into the air, he flexed round, pivoting on a knee, the cold no obstacle to him as he felt the crystal, felt energy flowing out of him into Isaac, the Alolan Marowak empowered. "Born of the stone, returning to the stone, with the towering force of Zephyria...Continental Crush!" Leaping into the air with incredible agility, the Bone Keeper's arms were raised above him as dozens of large rocks ripped themselves free of the snow covered earth and collided above him to form a gargantuan boulder - no, a meteor - as big as one of the buildings in the town. With a cry of "roooooooooooAAAA!" the pokemon grabbed the meteor and hurled it at the helpless Beartic at full force, the impact of the rock incredible as snow and ice were displaced en masse, smaller pokemon blown away from the landing zone by the winds (including the Caterpie, thank the gods) as the Z-move crashed right on top of the marauding menace. The crowds could only watch with baited breath, the snow and wind dissipating with the hail, Alex staring in awe as the boulder crumbled to rubble, and the arm of the Beartic reached out, stretched...before collapsing. The Beartic had been defeated. The people burst into cheers. "Ho...ho...you done it, Isaac...we took the bear down..." Alex panted, body trembling as he was collapsed, the Marowak quick to run up to him and grab on to him for support as he looked at the gauntlet, at the crystal set in the back of it, and knew then just why these were highly regarded. He remained on knees, exhausted, the whole ordeal had been strenuous on him. So exhausted, he didn't comprehend or notice the rangers arriving to dig out and return the Beartic to the wilderness. So exhausted, he didn't realise the group was on the move again until he was hauled on to the carriage by some other trainers. So exhausted, he missed out on the news the waterfall had been reclaimed. By the time the soup was being prepared for the group, he was sound asleep. --- The next morning brought surprises in the form of a literal present, as the trainers found themselves receiving gifts from unknown sources. Alex woke, head spinning as his brain tried to collate what had transpired the previous day. There was the Beartic, and the boulder...but nothing else to mind. He'd have to ask what happened later. The news of the day was a push up the mountain, via a well constructed raft. The ride up was bumpy, but the craftsmanship was impeccable, and he was well and truly woken by just how cold it was. "Dammit, that's sharp!" Shocked and active, he followed the group, sleepy eyes picking out familiar and unfamiliar faces, before the crew found themselves outside some sort of cave. A cave, of note, that wasn't there before. Then came down the bombs. One of the captains leapt back as something massive seemed to be emerging from the cave, crimson eyes glaring from the darkness. It was almost a case of deja vu for him, and he wondered if this would end up with him dead again. However, the answer came in the form of a massive beast, one that seemed extremely similar to one of Alex's. A mighty blizzard forced the group back, but the culprit behind the assault on town seemed clear as day now. The choices were clear: One group would tackle the unknown bombers, while the rest would assault the massive snow monster. As much as fire seemed a wise option, Isaac would be good with some rest. Besides, why fight ice with fire when one could go toe to toe with the goliath with one of his own? "Mistilteinn, we have a situation on hand." A flourish of a ball revealed an equally shaggy face, the Abomasnow stretching while also a little jaded with the surroundings. Winter seemed to have arrived earlier than usual to him. "Mist, we've got a much bigger monster before us in that cave there, and I need you at full power. You still got that Abomasite?" he asked rhetorically, the frosted tree giving a gruff nod. "Good, because today we get to put that to the test. We'll need to work together with the others though, because that thing is massive." With mega stone in the snowy folds of fur, Alex looked at the palm of his gauntlet, and the key stone set within. The man and snowman had been through thick and thin, and it was time to truly test their strength. Folding his finger down onto the orb, he pointed the ebony gauntlet towards his Abomasnow, ready to mega evolve him. "So here's the plan: We'll start off by ensuring anyone with a fire pokemon capable of utilising Flash Fire gets a boost by spraying your hidden power fire orbs at them, before you take charge using your greater size on mega evolution to push forward with our group cloaked in a mist to help keep us covered. When the beast shows itself, nuke it with a blizzard from a distance. Your role will be siege assault and to repel any of its own snow attacks." Giving a nod, the plan was set as the trainer called out to others. "Guys, if any of you have Flash Fire pokemon, gather up here and we'll give you a boost!" |

Calem's entry into the fray was seemingly unnoticed by the Beartic, as he lunged and landed on the bear. Deciding it was time to announce his presence, Calem unleashed a scorching beam of flames across the creature's rear, followed by another at the arm that swung at him in response, the Ice type flailing at him in its fury and sending the Bug to the snowdrift. Shaking himself off, Calem found a rock to observe the battle from. The Alolan Marowak was dancing, clearly powering up for a critical blow, and the Beartic noticed, preparing an attack of its own. Calem knew then that this was his time. His moment of crucial glory. Without hesitation, he fired a thread of silk, catching the creature's head and pulling it away. It took every ounce of strength in the Caterpie's body, as he clung to the rock he was stood on, but he managed to yank the brute's head away from its intended path, the potentially devastating blast of water dousing a snowdrift instead of the Alolan Marowak, who was glowing by this point. Calem watched in awe as the Firet type, along with his Trainer, glowing and dancing, before summoning a colossal boulder that smashed into the bear, who lay there, defeated. The roar of the townsfolk was deafening, as this, the last great immediate threat, fell before them, beaten and broken. And it was due in no small part to the heroisms of Calem. Liawe watched on, her fear slowly being replaced by a glowing sense of pride. Calem hadn't been a waste after all, he'd saved the day! She grabbed up the Caterpie, hugging him and congratulating him on his successes in the recent affairs, amid the celebrations of the townsfolk and other trainers. The best part of it all was when the Alolan Marowak's trainer came over and thanked her for the assist. Who'd have thought that she of all people would have helped save the day? And with Caterpie no less, that she wasn't even initially aware she'd brought! Fortune truly smiled upon them that day, as they returned to town, greeted by the news that the waterfall too had been liberated by the task force sent up there. And as the combined squadron gathered around in the Pokemon Center to share their tales of their experiences in the icy onslaught, Liawe found herself nodding off, leading her to wander off and borrow one of the rooms in the back, quickly falling asleep despite the unfamiliar surroundings. Rested and recuperated, Liawe woke the next day with a start, wondering where the hell she was, before remembering the events of the last day. She looked at her squad, who'd scattered themselves around the room she'd borrowed. Caeda was preening in a corner, the open window indicating that she'd tried to go hunting, but to little avail, while Winter, the latest addition to the squad, was curled at the foot of her bed, flinching slightly as Liawe absentmindedly stroked the Alolan Vulpix's soft pale fur as the Unovan looked around to find her malicious spirit. She didn't need to look far, as she spied Hope quickly, who pulled a face at her and set the glass of water down on the table beside her bed. Liawe thanked the Shuppet, quietly passing over the fact that the mischievous Ghost type was evidently planning to throw it over her while she slept for a rude awakening. Calem uncurled and stretched, clearly exhausted by his antics the previous day, with his bunny ears proudly mounted on his head still. He'd probably attached them on with a String Shot or some similar substance. "Nice sleep then?", she enquired, to a sleepy but positive response from her varying squad members as she headed out to meet the others, with Caeda on her arm, Calem on her shoulder, Winter walking beside and Hope floating behind. And indeed she was greeted by a pleasant surprise, in the form of a mysterious gift from a benevolent aide, the mystery pack refreshing her. Now Liawe felt she was ready for anything, and from a quick look she could tell that her squad was of a similar mindset. Looking inside the box, Liawe retrieved a Revive and an Aspear Berry, quickly putting both in her bag, before heading off to source breakfast for her and her squad. The break was nice, and it felt like the worries of the previous day were a world away. Unfortunately, they were about to come crashing back in, as the local leaders ordered everyone to ready up and head out. As they ventured up the waterfall and established their new base camp, Liawe looked at her squad, three nowhardened veterans of the campaign and her latest acquisition. Caeda the Skarmory, protective as ever, who had duelled the Weavile in the Orchard and drove it and its cohort back. Hope the Shuppet, who had engaged the Vulpix hordes and driven them away, and had enabled the capture of Winter in the process. Calem the Caterpie, who had engaged in a rather hilarious scenario where he'd chewed on a Smoochum as it flailed wildy, before engaging the Beartic in heroic combat, scorching the colossal bear and diverting a critical attack to allow another trainer to deliver the ultimate blow. These three heroes of the campaign had left their marks on their foes, and now the greatest of all lay ahead. With them stood Winter, who had been captured in the event, and now stood by her new friends' side, nervous but steadfast. Liawe and some twenty other trainers, versus a truly abominable beast of the snow: An overgrown Mega Abomasnow, with a horde of Delibird providing covering fire. Cue the music. Liawe's orders were quick and tactile, far from her doubtful and ponderous actions back in the orchard. With one swift motion, the young trainer ordered Caeda to the field, her trusty starter taking to the skies against this titanic foe. They'd need to go all out here, and Caeda had the perfect tools for the job. A Sky Attack to lead in with, followed by a Rock Slide to hinder it before going all out, as Liawe activated her bracelet for the first time, preparing to use the secret technique she'd obtained from her first minor adventure. "One Supersonic Skystrike, coming right up!" Caeda grew to Level 10! Caeda learnt Metal Claw! Caeda learnt Swift! Hope grew to Level 9! Calem grew to Level 11! Obtained Revive x1! Obtained Aspear Berry x1! Put the Items in Liawe's Bag.

What... what's going on over there? Guntz, Volg, Stahl and Zyll were all fast asleep... but someone was moving in the dark of the night, unnoticed by everyone else in the central room. Perhaps because only Rorik remained awake. "Wh... who's there?" he asked, his voice trembling. Slowly, cautiously, the Professor left his sleeping bag and approached the source of the movement. It was... in his Backpack?! Suddenly, a head popped out from inside the Bag; looking panicked, the Sandshrew Rorik had captured in the commotion of the earlier battle fled into the darkness of the room. As he escaped, an Ice Stone rolled out of the Bag, but by then, the Sandshrew Rorik had named Berg was already too far away for the rock's light to have an effect. He... wanted to evolve unnoticed. Did he plan to hurt us in our sleep?! He was Glalie's pawn after all... He can't be trusted. Was I wrong to catch him?... Morning came, Rorik having stayed up all night to ensure Berg didn't try the same trick again and wound up hurting someone during the night. But as the first rays of sun broke, the Professor knew things would take a turn for the better - after all, it was Christmas, and someone had come bearing gifts for all! Despite all that was happening, this would be a lovely day, he could tell. ~~~~ This is a horrible day! They had just returned from the mountains, the heart of the problem having finally revealed itself: a colossal Mega Abomasnow, the single largest Pokemon Rorik had ever seen in his life or read about in any article. If he hadn't just seen the beast, he would've scoffed at any scientific author with the guts to announce such a sighting. "Pokemon Mega Evolving without a Key Stone to resonate with... This is virtually unheard of," he whispered to himself. "What could be the cause for all this? And how are we going to measure up to this threat?..." Volg approached his Trainer and rested a hand on his shoulder. Looking up, Rorik saw the resolute stare of the newly-evolved dragon, and understood immediately. "You overcame the Baimon, which was something you thought impossible, right? Compared to that, I guess everything else seems easy to you," he said with a half-smile. "Abomasnow... Even in a Mega State, it still has the same chinks in its armour. Fire was rendered useless against Glalie, but nothing seems to indicate it will have the same result against this giant. You are my best bet..." Volg, of course, knew. He'd seen Guntz take the fight to Glalie and almost match it in power with his Z-Move; the Charizard lacked that kind of power, but he had other tools at his disposal. It was his time to show Rorik he could be trusted, and to show Guntz he wouldn't carry the crown much longer! "Look, Alex and Keith are setting up the field for an assault on the lair," Rorik noticed as he saw the former's partner, another Abomasnow, envelop the party in mist, while the latter's praised the sun. "Maybe we should help out with the preparations." What was this sudden bravery, this lack of hesitation? He'd never been like this before. And yet, ever since they'd first met Glalie's army, it was as if the shell of fear Rorik had spent his entire life encased in had slowly began to crack and fall apart. For some reason, he found himself nurturing the absurd certainty that they would see this through to the end and make it out alive... We will. "Volg," he said resolutely, which caused the Charizard to smile. "We've been given time to prepare, so let's make the most of it. Power up with a Dragon Dance before we engage; when the group approaches Abomasnow's, add the power of your own Sunny Day to Heatmor's to make sure it doesn't fail, then fight back the giant's Snow Warning with a Heat Wave to keep the hail away from the party." Volg listened and nodded, then cracked his knuckles. The dragon exchanged a glare with his friendly rival Guntz, who grinned in response at seeing Volg so fired up. The final battle began now...

Mélina gritted her teeth as she watched in worry Soleil going head on against the Beartic. It could’ve very well ended in a gruesome way… but thankfully, the other Pokémon not only distracted him enough to not hit her, but finally knocked it out. That last Z-Crystal attack was a little bit overwhelming though, and called Soleil back to her ball so she wouldn’t get lost in the little avalanche the Continental Rush caused. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When all was taken care of, every trainer that came to help Cloud Gardens - both those that stayed near town and those that headed to the waterfall - were regrouped to a place called the Stone Shrine. The trainer awed at the stone lanterns and the Torii gate, and wished to look at them closer, but with the cold finally getting to her and the night creeping up, she judged it was best to huddle in the cabin. While in there, she listened to the other trainers chit-chatting. She remained quiet though, as she was lost in thought of all the happenings that happened that day. She wasn’t even paying attention to fully enjoy the spoonfuls of hot soup she was slurping. After all, it was her first adventure at such a large scale, and the reality of the dangers they lurk have dropped on her like a ton of bricks… or ice bricks, this this case. As much as she felt proud of herself of what she has done, she felt very much humbled, as she realised how much her Pokémon has done for her in her stead. The trainer understood that if it wasn’t for them, she wouldn’t be able to help, yet alone stay alive long enough to do anything. She thought that despite encouraging them and treat them right, she didn’t show enough of her appreciation to them, equal to their efforts. As she bundled up in her soft sleeping bag beside the warm fireplace, she resolved to have a serious chat with Soleil and Lune in the morning. The Kalosian woke up by some rukus made by the Trial Captains. Only half-awake, it took her awhile to know what was going on: wrapped Christmas gifts were dropped at the door, one for each person present. The moment she realised that, she quickly slipped back in her winter wear and ran to pick up the gift… with an idea way better than she had the night before. “Soleil, Lune, rise and shine!” she called out her two Eevee. As they materialise, Mélina made sure she got Lune’s attention as she didn’t want her to run off as usual. Feeling the slight urgency of her trainer, Soleil helped calming her sister down with a nudge. “Alright girls, erm… I...” Mélina’s face scrunched up as she tried to find the right words to say, “I’m really sorry if I haven’t really showed you how much I appreciate you two for your hard work yesterday,” her expression changed into a regretful one. “It took me a while to think about how hard you guys work, and how dangerous it all is. I know I’m cheered you on, but it doesn’t feel like it’s enough. I can’t help but feel selfish for thinking that I actually have given any help, when you’ve done everything. So...” she pulls out the present and pushed it in front of the Eevee, “I want you two to have that present. I know it’s not much, but… it’s the least I can do for now. I’ll make sure I’ll have something better for you guys when this whole thing is all over, alright?” Both Soleil and Lune looked back and forth between Mélina and themselves, shocked. They knew their “work” was dangerous, but it is what Pokémon do; it’s their “thing” of battling each other and protect their trainer. They didn’t realise though how much it all meant to Mélina… well, they knew very well she cared for them a lot and cheered for them in what they do, but not that much. They both agreed on how Mélina downplayed too much her role: she’s the one who strategizes to keep them good and well, who cheers them on to push their limits, who heals their wounds, who leads the team into victory. The two brown Pokémon nodded at each other, then looked back at Mélina once again, both staring at her with soft, glowing Baby-Doll Eyes flowing with gratitude and understanding… until the two started to glow. “W-wuh what?” Mélina gasped as she watched her two beloved Pokémon do what their namesake. Her eyes started to fill with tears as she watched their bodies grew and morphed into different beings. “You kidding m- you’re evolving!? You’re actually evolving! Oh my Arceus!” She squealed loudly and jumped for joy through the whole process, excited beyond belief of witnessing her first and second evolution in her team - at the same time! She clapped her hands lightly but quickly as she tried to hold her excitement in (she just realised she might’ve embarrassed herself in front of the other trainers…) while witnessing the glow from Soleil and Lune’s body dissipate to reveal their new forms - respectively, as an Espeon and an Sylveon! She immediately sat down in front of them and hugged them tightly, rubbing off the leftover tears. The trainer exactly knew what the timing of those evolutions meant, and thanked them over and over for the message received loud and clear. Soleil rubbed Mélina’s shoulder lovingly, while Lune tested her new fangled ribbons to hug her trainer back. After a sweet moment of shuffling around with them in her arms, Mélina un-grasped them, look at each of them fondly, then picked up the wrapped gift again. “Let’s open it together, shall we?” “Espee!” “Veon!” After the three ripped the box’s paper apart and opened it, it let out a flash of light, rejuvenated Soleil and Lune, and revealing a Revive and an Aspear Berry. As they cuddled again in celebration, some commotion grounded them back to earth, as breakfast appeared to be served. Her stomach gurgling, Mélina, followed by her newly-Evolved Pokémon, headed to the diner table to eat, so they’ll be ready for whatever the next phase of their rescue mission have in reserve. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “Noooooope. Noooooooope nope nope nope nope.” Mélina did not like the sight of this Mega Abomasnow. Already that they had a very close call with that Beartic, she was definitely not ready to face that monster, even with the Eevee sisters now fully evolved and (along with the rest of her team) fully rested. She already felt brave enough to just help out there, but her self-preservation got the best of her at this point. She wasn’t the only one though, as everyone, even the captains, retreated back to the river crossing. Athena, one of them, then explained that they should spit up the group again. This time, one team shall meet the Frost Tree head on, while the other will take a roundabout route to take care of Delibird who bombed them earlier. Still shook by their earlier encounter, Mélina chose without second thought of following Athena to the ice birds. As she arrived on the scene, the trainer tried to listen to everyone’s strategies. She wanted to try to work with them again, despite not being able to do so fully last time. One took a defense stance to make them approach to themselves then attack while they’re close… and the others are still discussing, with no clear plan said aloud. A bit worried, she looked at all the trainers present, feeling awkward and shy… but then she took a deep breath and yelled out at everyone who was present. “HEY! I THINK WE NEED TO PLAN TOGETHER!” She paused a bit, nervously eyeing any trainer who heard her… or ignored her. “...We’re just trying to not make them attack at those below, right? We should probably try to push them on the other side of the mountain, so at least they can’t reach the cave! Then we can take them out without bothering the Abomasnow team!” Still not confident that other people listened to her, she tried to think of a way to lead by example. She clutched on one of her Pokéballs and threw it. After a flash, it revealed her extra-sized Minior, floating in midair and turning sideways energetically, revved up and ready to go. “Catalina!” she called to it. “Ready for some action?” “Miiiiii~” “Ok! Start with a Defense Curl to get yourself ready, then I want you to try to round all the Delibird up together and push them away from here while you’re Rolling out! And when they’re all grouped up and moved, Stealthily leave some spiky Rocks where they were, so they don’t feel as comfortable of coming back there!” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Picking up: x1 Revive x1 Aspear Berry Soleil's level goes from Lv.25 to Lv.28! Lune's level goes from Lv.20 to Lv. 22! Soleil has reached 30 Bond and gained levels during the day! Soleil evolved into an Espeon! Lune has reached 30 Bond and gained levels while knowing a Fairy move (Baby-Doll Eyes)! Lune evolved into an Sylveon! |

Two Snorunt joined the list of captured Pokemon, one of them going to the woman with the Swinub as his Mud Bomb and Mud Shot did more than connect, it trapped the Snorunt inside frozen mud leaving it easy to capture. The other went to Tate as they simply managed to capture it with their Pokeball before it got away while their Mandibuzz simply Roosted to gain back some health before she would fly back into battle. She would be joined by the Magneton and Mamoswine in battle against the Froslass, and together they were able to quickly dispel the Double Team clones from earlier before the Froslass would be finished off by a mysterious shadow looking Pokemon owned by the trainer with the Ninetales. Everyone else would focus on the Mega Glalie, including Keith's Meowth, who would be the one to bring about the Acid Downpour, though Mega Glalie's attempts to shake off the poison had unintentionally splashed some of the attack back onto Meowth and a few of the other Pokemon. The Z-Move would be enough, however, to drop the Mega Evolution, the Glalie now getting desperate to end the battle. Kilogram, Melissa's Aron, and Gary's Blastoise would be the second wave of attacks against the giant head, but Kilogram never got his attack off as between Raphael's Aura Spheres and the Aron's energy draining Spite it was too much for the Glalie, and it fell before Kilogram had the chance to use his Gyro Ball. Seeing as his target was already down, Kilogram calmed himself, watching the rest of the Ice Pokemon dispersing and in full retreat. Hyrem took the opportunity to collect the Christmas Ball holding his new Pokemon, the Pokedex scan revealing the Bergmite within to be male. "Well, now I have a Bergmite! We'll have to talk later...Svanir!" And with that, he allowed the Pokeball to disappear into his PC. "Great job, everyone! Kilogram, you deserve a rest for now, return!" Once he returned his Steelix to his Pokeball, he looked for Tsurara, and as he found her looming over the Vanillite he went to return her to her Pokeball as well when he could hear Athena's voice, “Gather up! Is everyone ok?” He then decided it would be better to leave his own Froslass to her own devices for a few seconds while the trainers discussed the next course of action. It wasn't long before the other group of trainers arrived, having successfully defended the town from its own attackers, Jess and Alex being among that group of trainers. As far as Hyrem's group was concerned, they had taken the waterfall back and had allowed the place to warm back up, though the waterfall was still frozen. “Great work so far everyone, I’m proud of all of you and thankful for your bravery,” said Athena. “I think it would be a good idea to set up camp and regroup in the morning.” “You guys are welcome to stay at the Stone Shrine,” Madoka said as she arrived with her Lycanrocs, the brown one being tired while the red one still looked full of energy. “We finally managed to chase the invaders out.” Another of the trial captains broke off from the group to look at the still frozen waterfall. “You lot did a fine job to get us this far. Now it’s the Cloud Garden’s trial captains’ time to shine!” At that point, all five Trial Captains brought out one Pokemon each: Athena's Mawile, Madoka's Midnight Lycanroc, Marina's Poliwrath, Jet's Pokemon--a purple balloon looking Pokemon that floated in the air--and the fifth Trial Captain's Pokemon, an insect Pokemon that looked a lot like Scyther except brown and without wings, a creature seemingly built for swimming more than flying. "Those two look cool, especially that brown bug!" he remarked as he looked up the two Pokemon on his Pokedex: Drifblim, the Blimp Pokemon. The gas inside a Drifblim's body is said to be soul energy. It can release this gas to control how high it drifts around. At night, when it is most active, it will fly in a flock, some of them carrying people or Pokemon, and vanish without a trace. It is rumored that they travel to and from the afterlife, dropping off their passengers there. Kabutops, the Shellfish Pokemon. Built for swimming, this prehistoric Pokemon was easily able to chase down its prey and open up its body with its sharp, scythelike claws before drinking the victim's body fluids and chewing up soft flesh. It was evolving to become able to live on land instead of water, but it went extinct before the evolution was complete. Some say, however, that its descendants soon became the Pokemon known as Scyther. In addition, it is possible for intact fossils of a younger stage of Kabutops to be revived using machines, though it cannot be revived by fossils directly. "So that Kabutops is a Fossil Pokemon..." said Hyrem. "I really hope I can get one of them someday!" He and his Pokemon then watched as the five Pokemon worked together to break open the waterfall and get the water flowing once again. After they cheered in victory and returned their Pokemon, they returned to the group of trainers. “Alright, let’s go get some rest,” said Athena. Hyrem looked back at Tsurara, who was no longer looming over a Vanillite; in fact, there was no trace of that Vanillite left! "Okay, you've had your fill, now can we get going?" he asked his Froslass. She turned around to face her trainer, wiping the ice cream off her face. "Mmmm yes, now does seem to be a good time for me to rest." Hyrem rolled his eyes before putting Tsurara back into her Dream Ball before joining the others who were being escorted by Athena and Madoka to the Stone Shrine and the cabin where they would crash for the night. “Since there’s a lot of people, I hope you all don’t mind staying in sleeping bags in the central room,” said Madoka, the sleeping bags all set up. Soon enough, soup was being served, and Hyrem and his Fire Pokemon couldn't have enough of it. "Wait, I think someone else would like this too! She didn't get the chance to be let out of her Pokeball today, so might as well do it now! Vi, come on out!" Out of the Pokeball materialized his Blaziken, who was ready for a fight. "Sorry Vi, no battle today, maybe tomorrow! How about some hot soup for tonight?" "Blaziken..." she glared at him dangerously. "...No, it's Swinub soup, not Torchic soup," he explained, at which point her expression lightened, and she nodded, accepting the food. "And maybe you want something to dip in the soup?" he asked, handing her the Very Hot Cross Bun he had obtained very recently. Vi's eyes lit up as soon as she took the bread from him and dipped it in her own bowl of soup before eating it. Once she was done, she could feel her arms begin to light up with flames, and she brought them up in an X before bringing them down the same way, leaving an X-shaped flame in the air for a moment. She had been wanting that attack for a while ever since she saw Sarkhan do it, and best of all there was no risks attached to it since she was a Fire-type and was therefore protected against any recoil from the attack. After dinner, Happy went over to Tate to once again find his family, discuss what they thought about his battling, and Hyrem allowed him to rest with his mate and kids for the night, which he would do with his family for the very first time. Hyrem would try as best he could to approach every trainer he didn't know and meet whatever Pokemon they had with them so he would not only be familiar with them for the upcoming battle but also keep them in mind beyond what would be done here. Silas spent the time before bedtime beside his trainer, cordially greeting whomever he met, and once it was time to sleep he would do so at the foot of Hyrem's sleeping bag. Vi also accompanied her trainer and was easily someone that would come up in conversation, especially with Isaac as the two humans talked about their plans for her and the Incineroar named Morgana. Just like Silas, she would also sleep beside her trainer, looking at the trainer who owned the Incineroar briefly and wished the Pokemon in question hadn't been knocked out in today's battle so she could meet him. Kenna, Tsurara, and Kilogram would stay in their Pokeballs as they were either too big to stay indoors or, in the case of the Froslass...well, not to be trusted. ********** “Oh my gosh! Everyone come quickly!” Hyrem woke up hastily just like the other trainers did and was ready for a battle when he went outside and saw Madoka in front of multiple, identical boxes that looked a lot like the gift boxes obtained when he celebrated a Pokemon's holiday. “How peculiar…” said Athena before she opened the box marked for her, and it appeared she soon felt a surge of energy enter her. “Wow, I feel great! It’s like I’m re-energized!” She then brought out her Clefable and Mawile who felt just as rejuvenated as her. “Open yours too, everyone!” she then said, and as Hyrem did so he felt a warmth wash over him, and so did Happy and Silas, who were definitely the Pokemon who needed such vitality return to them, as well as Kilogram if the warmth coming from his Pokeball was any indication. There was also a Revive and an Aspear Berry in the box in addition to the invigorating powers it held, which Hyrem gladly took before looking around at what everyone else was doing. Eventually, everyone had resolved their gifts and eaten breakfast, with Vi once again appreciating the bacon and refusing the scrambled eggs. They all went outside to find a raft that the Trial Captain named Samuel had apparently made with his skills. “It might not look like much, but it’ll hold. I bet my entire craft on it,” he boasted, with the group taking his word for it as Jet boarded first, with his Drifblim holding the ropes on each corner, before shouting, "All aboard!" "Only enough room for us humans then," said Hyrem before looking at his Pokemon. "Well, you'll all have to stay in your Pokeballs until the raft ride is done!" They all understood, however, and gladly returned to their capsules, allowing Hyrem to board with the other trainers without taking extra space. Marina then brought out her Poliwrath and Gyarados to help steer the raft up the waterfall in addition to Jet's Drifblim, and Athena warned, “If you aren’t good with heights, please stay in the middle of the raft." Hyrem was one of them who did so, just to be safe, as they waved goodbye to Samuel and Madoka who would stay behind to, again, protect the shrine. The raft ride up the waterfall was a fairly harrowing experience, causing Hyrem to clasp onto a nearby rope more than once, but thankfully the Gyarados pushing the raft up was not Bubbles and therefore had more control over itself. By the time the raft was over the waterfall, the three Pokemon carrying it were too tired to continue, so Marina and Jet planned to stay behind to make camp while Athena would be leading the trainers the rest of the way. “The air is a lot thinner up here, so bundle up and preserve your energy,” she said, with Hyrem clutching onto the blanket he got in order to keep his precious hands warm before letting Happy back out. As he barked and announced his presence, he noticed he was the only one let out at the moment. "Stay close to me, bud, this place is even colder than yesterday." They were soon led away from the river and toward a mountain, where a huge cave was soon in view. “There didn’t used to be a cave here…” said Athena, and as Hyrem looked at the opening he noticed the ceiling was twice as high as his height! What could have possibly made a cave this big? “Oh no… Everyone get back!” Athena called out again as various sized objects exploded around them, and soon enough a loud roar could be heard from deeper within the cave as the bombs stirred the monster. Soon enough, a Blizzard blew against them that followed the roar before the ground started shaking. “That can’t be good,” she said as more Icicles Crashed around them and more Presents were thrown from above and exploded, continuing to make the place too dangerous to be. “Guys, let’s fall back! Head back in the direction we came from, towards the river!” Everyone retreated, including Hyrem, as it stepped out of the cave and within view: best described as a yeti, it stood far taller than any two-legged Pokemon Hyrem had ever seen, and the green and white fur all around it only further defined its size. As he ran, he shouted, "What the heck is that thing!? It's huge!" His Pokedex was able to scan the monster just before he ran out of range: Abomasnow, the Frost Tree Pokemon, and the evolved form of Snover. Short for "Abominable Snowman", Abomasnow is also known by locals as the yeti, or "Ice Monster". It only lives in places where snow is abundant and retreats to colder areas when snow begins to melt. For those who live where no snow is available at certain times of the year, it will simply hide in a cave to hibernate. Its most common way of attacking is to summon harsh blizzards around itself. This specimen is currently in its Mega Evolved form. "Again with the Mega Evolutions!?" he cried out. Not only that, this particular Pokemon looked twice as big as the standard Mega Abomasnow in the Pokedex! Just how were these wild Pokemon able to Mega Evolve without a human companion channeling their Mega Stone? In any case, they had run out of sight and back to the river where Athena could catch her breath and think. “This is awful… Who knew such a beast was sleeping inside the mountain all along? ...There’s no doubt that it’s the cause of all of this. I can’t imagine they’re all bad though, or who else would have left us those presents at the Stone Shrine this morning?” "What do you say, Happy?" he asked, turning to his Flareon. "Want to take on a big ol' yeti? Or do you want the Delibird?" "Fwaa!" he said, puffing out his chest fluff, making his choice obvious. "Well, you might not be able to battle for the whole fight, but at least you'll be a good opener! Alright, let's do this!" As the group fighting the Mega Abomasnow took shape, Alex made himself noteworthy by letting out his own Pokemon, a powerful looking Abomasnow in his own right, and just like the foe they were about to face he had changed form in order to augment himself, only he was the one with the trainer by his side. In addition, Alex called out for Pokemon with the Flash Fire ability to approach so they could activate the innate powers of those Pokemon. "Over here, we could use the boost!" Hyrem responded. "Go on, Happy, take our friend's Fire attack! After that, it'll be time to synch up and battle; get in there with a Flame Charge, then trap that monster with Fire Spin! After that, try and find whatever Mega Stone is on that thing before using Covet to take it away!" As the weather changed to a familiar hailstorm, Hyrem hoped this battle would be different from the battle earlier and that Fire attacks wouldn't get completely snuffed out by the cold weather. In addition, if Happy could successfully steal the Abomasnow's Mega Stone, there would be a lot more hope of defeating the beast. ********** Zone Capture!! Eskil crouches down to meet her, torn between marveling over her new form and fussing over her injuries. She huffs and waves him off. "I'm fine." She grumbles as he presses a shaking hand to her fur. Just to make sure she is really there. There isn't much time to stand around and celebrate, however. As the townspeople deal with the unconscious Beartic, Jet gathers all of the trainers and they head to help the Waterfall group. By the time they arrive, the other group had succeeded as well. Eskil can't help being happy about that. Running around the Cloud Garden fighting all day is exhausting, and the thought of another fight before he and his team had some rest had been worrisome. After the trial captains get the waterfall flowing again, the group of trainers make their way to the shrine, where they are provided soup and a sleeping bag. Eskil is too exhausted to spend time chatting with any of the unfamiliar trainers. He drains his soup and curls up with Nyx. It takes a bit of shifting around to find a way to accommodate Nyx's new form, but soon the pair is comfortable, and Eskil is out like a light. The morning dawns bright, and Eskil is roused by Madoka's cry. As Eskil joins several other trainers in rushing outside, he is surprised that instead of an attack, they find presents. He glances down at the one passed to him, a bit wary, but all of the ones opened so far seem to be fine, and so he pulls the bow. The light that flashes over him feels nice, and judging by the responses from others around him, has healed all of his Pokemon. Nyx certainly looks more perky after the light, so it has hopefully done the same for the rest of his Pokemon. He fishes the items and card from the box. They look like they might be useful. After breakfast, the group returnes to the waterfall. After a harrowing ride up the waterfall (Eskil would have felt better about the swinging raft if not for the fact that he had to return Nyx so everyone could fit), they arrive. As base camp is prepared, Eskil sorely regrets his lack of scarf. Its even colder up here. "Definitely need to get you a real scarf," Nyx, immediately released once they were on solid ground once again, comments as he shivers. The group heads further up the mountain, where they find a cave that isn't supposed to be there. They are suddenly attacked by a flock of Delibird and a giant Mega Abomasnow. Retreating in the face of their overwhelming opponents, the trainers regroup further down the mountain. A plan is hatched. A group of trainers will go deal with the Delibirds, while the rest will face the Abomasnow. It isn't a terribly difficult decision for Eskil. Given how they fared against the Beartic, Eskil can't imagine that his team stands a chance against the Giant Mega Abomasnow. They'll be more useful clearing out the Delibirds than throwing themselves ineffectively at that monster. Best to leave that to the stronger teams. He releases Khione and Belial. The Sneasel glares a bit, and he remembers her ill fated charge against the Beartic with a wince. "Sorry, Khione. You were a big help." He apologizes. She hisses. "Next time you have a suicide mission, give it to the mutt, would you?" Said 'mutt' just looks a bit confused. "Last I remember, I was fighting a weird Vulpix. What happened, where are we, and when did you get bigger?" He fires questions at Nyx. "Long story. We cleared out the first wave, and so did the Waterfall group. Now we've got bigger problems. We're going support. Have to knock some birds out of the sky so the rest of the group can focus on the big bad." Nyx recaps quickly. "And I evolved. Idiot." "Huh. Seems I missed some things." Belial remarks. Another trainer calls out to the gathering group about to set out to face the Delibirds, and suggests focusing on driving them back around the side of the mountain so that they can be defeated without causing problems for the other team. "Sounds like a plan," Belial remarks. "So, who's taking point?" "You, I guess. Get ready with a Nasty Plot and then throw an Ember at anything that comes after us. Then an Inferno. Try to drive them back." "Got it." Belial walks in front of them, ready for a fight. Khione climbs to Eskil's shoulder to get a better vantage point, and Nyx keeps pace beside him. Gary smiled and joined his comrades as they made their way up to the Stone Shrine where Madoka and Marina had finished cleaning up as well. He was eager to climb the waterfall and see how his home was doing higher up the mountain and even considered slipping out to check things out on his own. However, he acknowledged how dangerous and foolish that would be on top of being selfish and decided it would have to wait until things were safer. While spending a night at the Stone Shrine, Gary mingled with his friends and recounted the tale of their battle against the Glalie as well as his newest capture, a Spheal he named Frio. As the dawn of a new day arrived, Madoka called everyone outside to find a stack of presents assembled for everyone there. Opening his up, Gary felt a surge of energy flow through him as if he were embraced by a warm hug. “Wow, it’s like Christmas!” he grinned and pulled out the Revive and Aspear Berry before sticking them in his bag. It was a likely sign of danger ahead, and Gary saved the items, aware that they might be needed. Once back down at the Starline Waterfall, Gary gazed on in amazement as Samuel had worked through the night to build a raft to help lift the large group of trainers in one go. Not one to be bothered by heights, Gary stared out at the view of the frozen mountainside as they ascended the falls like an elevator. Once at the top, Jet and Marina remained behind to tend to their exhausted Pokemon and Gary thanked them for their help. Having gotten to know Marina fairly well from his time in the area, Gary figured he would try to repay the favor to her later. It was now time for the group lead by Athena to head eastward towards the source of this frozen calamity. Gary’s base was so close that he could almost see it around the river bend from here, but he bit his lip and continued to bide his time, choosing to follow the group instead. It killed him to leave his base unattended like this, but there was no use trying to fix things right now when the danger was still present and continuing to ravage the region. After crossing the river and heading north of the Burnt Forest, the group arrived at a large cave that had been opened by an avalanche or a rock slide of some sort. They did not stay here long however, as bombs began to drop from higher up the cliff side, calling forth the behemoth behind this entire disaster; a massive Mega Abomasnow that looked ready to defend its territory. The group made their retreat back to the frozen river, where Athena announced that she would lead an expedition up to Delibird Ridge to put a stop to the bombers. The only catch was that she would need a group of brave souls to take on the Abomasnow and distract it while she scaled the steep mountain trail. Gary already knew what he had to do. The Cloud Garden was his home, and he would do whatever it took to defend it. Pulling out a Christmas Ball, Gary tossed it into the air to reveal a large Stantler. The deer gazed up into the sky, taking in the scenery that had befallen her usual stomping grounds. There was a sort of graceful beauty that complemented the sheer power and strength behind Fizzytopia’s strongest Stantler. Without needing Gary to inform her what was going on, Rena looked ready for anything. She sensed a strong opponent somewhere on this mountain, and she was eager to test it with her horns and her hooves. “You haven’t seen it yet, but the thing we’re dealing with is nothing to take lightly,” Gary told her. “Once we get there, be ready for the toughest fight you’ve had in a while! If it uses any ice attacks, let’s get in a quick Me First to show it how it’s done! Try to eat up any grass attacks that you can with your Sap Sipper before Bouncing up high to hit it hard and then finish things up with a Megahorn!” The Stantler smiled and nodded, eager to dip her hooves into this battle.

A bright flash of light came from the Glalie as it returned to normal, throwing what looked like a tantrum in its area. An attack hit it and Mar jeered. prompting it to roar and use another Icy Wind. Mar hunkered down and yelled something derisive at it as another attack hit it. It tried to whip up another Icy Wind, but ended up crying out in distress as it found itself unable to and throwing itself into things once again. One of those things was the frozen waterfall and it must've knocked some kind of support loose because it got buried under snow and ice. The wind immediately slowed and the air didn't feel as biting. Melissa blinked at the change. "Huh." Jingling bells and the sound of snow crunching had her turning around and spotting a carriage full of trainers, some of whom she recognized as people who'd decided to stay behind at the town. Things moved pretty quickly after that with the trial captains breaking the waterfall free of its frozen prison and quickly retreating so as not to get caught up in its flow. They herded the group to a cabin to crash for the night and Melissa found herself falling asleep quickly, once she was warm and relatively safe. ...only to get woken up by shouting the next morning. "Oh my gosh! Everyone come quickly!" Melissa flailed as she got upright as quickly as possible, glancing around to check how alarmed the other trainers were. Not...super alarmed, so she dragged herself to the door to go see why they were all up this early. There were presents on the front step, unmarked, neatly wrapped, and quite a lot of them. Athena opened hers and gasped, then giggled. "Wow, I feel great! It's like I'm re-energized!" She called out her Altaria and Clefable, both of whom Melissa had seen knocked out. "Open yours too, everyone!" Melissa immediately pulled the ribbon on hers, closing her eyes as the present flashed. When she opened her eyes again, there was a card reading "Merry Christmas!" at the bottom of the box, along with a Revive and an Aspear. Tapping at the Pokéballs holding Wildfire and Mar, she got affirmative and ready-to-fight responses from them. Huh. How 'bout that? Wildfire grew from 54 to 58. Mar grew from 34 to 36. After breakfast, the group followed the trial captains to a raft that would get them up the waterfall. Melissa immediately made for the center when Athena warned them to, not really wanting to consider the possibility of falling into the, probably, freezing water. She stumbled a bit when the raft arrived on the riverbank, huddling further into her jacket as she climbed onto solid ground before deciding she might as well get her starter out to act like a heater again. Especially since it looked like they were gonna be walking some more. They walked past a shrine, then over a river and into a plain of snow. In the distance, the mountain peak disappeared into the clouds. Athena led them towards the mountain and the large cave that apparently recently showed up. Melissa...tried to observe as well as she could without approaching too closely, but the appearance of a small white orb distracted her. As did the others that followed. Melissa flinched as they started exploding and then yelped when the shock had Wildfire's back heating up to almost-painful levels. Not that they had much time to deal with that as the explosions seemed to have woken up whatever was inhabiting that cave. Melissa was already backing away when Athena called for a retreat, so it didn't take her long to spin on her heel and sprint for the river. Wildfire wiggled his way out of her jacket, mostly because the bouncing was uncomfortable, and peered over her shoulder, relaying what he saw to Melissa as they ran. "A giant Abomasnow?" "Quil, cyndaquil." "A Mega Abomasnow? I thought...aren't Mega Evolutions linked to trainer-Pokémon bonds?" "Quil, cyndaquil." Melissa scoffed. "I dunno about you, but I don't really wanna fight it, considering how we did against the last Mega Evolution we ran across." "Quil quil. Cyndaquil," Wildfire pointed out. Melissa hummed her acknowledgement as the trainers regrouped near the river and she caught her breath. "This is awful," Athena said. "Who knew such a beast was sleeping inside the mountain all along? There's no doubt that it's the cause of all of this. We're going to need to take it down somehow. The only problem are those pesky bombers up above the cliff side. I've got an idea though. We'll need some trainers to hold off the Abomasnow and distract it while I lead a group up an old mountain path I know of and take care of the pests. There's an old section of the Cloud Garden called Delibird Ridge, and I can guarantee you those are the culprits behind those bombs! I can't imagine they're all bad though, or who else would have left us those presents at the Stone Shrine this morning?" Aaaand that was when the Hail started. Melissa glanced at Wildfire. "Still wanna fight the Abomasnow?" Wildfire nodded. "Quil!" "Even though we're prolly gonna overreach ourselves again?" "Cyndaquil." Melissa groaned. "Fine. For the record, I don't think this is the better choice, but let's go. All out, right?" Wildfire nodded again. "Quil!" "...I seriously should have you learn Blast Burn," she muttered to herself. "And maybe pick up a Firium-Z." "Cyndaquil." "Mkay, so Eruption, Inferno, then back up and use Fire Blast. Then, get outta the line of fire because you don't have Flash Fire." "Quil quil." "But you don't, so don't risk it, okay?" "Qui-il." OOC: Collecting 1 Revive and 1 Aspear Berry.

The Beartic fell, and Eclair scrambled back to Athena to avoid getting crushed. The trainer and Pokemon took a moment to collect themselves and sigh in relief. As the unconcious bear was dragged away, Athena joined Jet and the other trainers on one of the Mudsdale pulled sleds. Eclair pulled herself up on to Athena's lap again and promptly took a nap as they headed up to the Waterfall. At the Waterfall, the group of trainers was addressed by a girl Athena recognized as one of the trial captains from before. She was tired, and found it hard to focus on what was being said. Her and Eclair were startled by the sound of ice cracking and shattering from the waterfall. They both watched in awe as the trial captains' strong pokemon each took turns striking the ice. "Oh, look!" Athena pointed excitedly at the Mawile that was using Iron Head to break the ice down. Eclair's eyes sparkled a bit. In almost no time the waterfall was flowing once again. The Stone Shrine was a welcome, quiet change from the chaos of the day. After eating, Athena found an open sleeping bag and cuddled up. Most of the other trainers seemed preoccupied with checking in on their Pokemon, and Athena kept to herself as well. Before she fell asleep, she looked over each of her Pokeballs. "Sorry if I let any of you down today," she mumbled. She picked up Palmier's Pokeball and turned it in her hand. She ended up falling asleep holding it. In the morning, she was woken up by the sound of trainers scrambling outside to see what the trial captain Athena had found. Once outside, a box was placed into her hands. Athena opened it and felt completely refreshed. Like she had gotten a full nights sleep on a plush bed rather than tossing and turning in a sleeping bag on the floor. She retrieved the berry and revive from the box and placed them in her bag. She felt much better having some items to rely on for whatever they encountered next. Athena made sure she was set to leave and boarded the raft the woodsman Samuel had created. With the help of a Driftblim and two strong Water-types, they were pushed quickly up the waterfall. It was a strange way to travel, and Athena held on tight to the logs to avoid feeeling dizzy. They got to the top and Athena made no hesitation to disembark and be on solid ground again. A freezing wind blew by. Athena pulled her hat over her ears and shivered. She followed the group across frozen plains and up to the mouth of a cave. As she was toward the back of the crowd, she couldn't quite tell what was happening as trainers began to yell and scatter. She was able to spot the glowing red eyes in the darkness of the cave and hear Athena's directions to fall back. They reconvened at the river and were presented with a choice. Face whatever that was in the cave, or assist Athena with the pests dropping bombs. Athena did not need much time to think. She did not want to hurt her Pokemon again going up against a huge enemy. Even though several of the stronger looking trainers were pledging to head back up to the cave. Assisting the smaller group at Delibird Ridge felt like the best choice. She retrieved a Pokeball and called out her Scraggy, Monte. The yellow Pokemon landed lightly on the snow and immediately played around in it. "Monte-" "Scraggy!" Monte replied, throwing snow into the air. Athena couldn't help but laugh. She got down to her Pokemon's level. "We're going up against a lot of enemies again. When you see them get in there with Foul Play and then hit as many as you can with Dark Pulse. If you come face to face with one, hit them with Drain Punch!" Choux grew to level 11! Monte grew to level 7! Palmier grew to level 18! Eclair grew to level 13! Eclair learned Sweet Scent! |

The scene shifts and Big follows the rest of the trainers to find the source of the cold and also encounters the abnormally large Abomasnow. As they retreat he gathers some information from the other group about their experiences and starts formulating a plan. As they reconvene to face the Abomasnow once and for all he lets Hotstuff out of his pokeball. "You feeling ok buddy?" The trainer asks. "Yeah, just a little weird." The Charmander replies. "Weird how?" Big asks, the pair already having the realization Big could understand Hotstuff the previous night after Hotstuff had healed. "Just weird, and kind of pumped. Like I used Focus Energy even though I don't know that move." "Hmm, you probably are close to evolving, You did a lot of good work yesterday but the conversation is cut off by the roar of the Ice/Grass type, "We have to get in there, I heard that fire moves were weakened in the other group yesterday so we are gonna keep an eye out for that." Big Says, "Go for an air cutter and then two flamethrowers!" Big calls out and the blue charmander leaps into action. Last edited by biggggg5; 12-31-2017 at 01:41 AM. |

After briefly checking in with her Comfey and Flabébé friends to ensure they were fine, she made her way back to the garden's entrance, where one of the wagons opportunely arrived to pick her up. It seemed the Beartic had indeed been swiftly taken care of even without her presence, and was currently being transported to a safer location while under sedation. As such, the next step was to take back the waterfall. With the Trial Captains' Pokémon's powers combined, the team tore down the pillar of ice blocking the rapids' flow. Jess watched in awe as they worked together flawlessly, admiring such strong rapport from afar. As the flood broke free from its prison, pouring out in a potent gush of life, it seemed to gurgle gratefully before sighing and settling back into routine, returning to the riverbed to sleep deeply once again. While the most critical situation was now resolved on the surface, the source of the problem still remained somewhere higher-bound. Thus, the leaders suggested making camp for the night and progressing up the mountain in the morning. The tired group of trainers readily agreed, as they trekked the short distance to the Stone Shrine. After kindly being served a dinner of steaming stew to warm their spirits, an exhausted Jess collapsed on her sleeping bag, wearily worming within and curling up like a coccoon, in order to try and catch some well-earned Z's before tomorrow's perilous journey. When morning came, the crew woke up to a surprise delivery of presents mysteriously left at the door; one package fully accounted for each person present. As one of the captains curiously unwrapped a container, Jess recognized the flash of light that burst forth and raced to try and warn before it was too late... There was no "boom" as she'd anticipated though; instead the lady only giggled as she was bathed in rejuvenation. Bidding the others to open theirs as well, the gifts were swiftly distributed amongst them. Despite urging, Jess eyed hers with suspicion, still not quite convinced of its credibility - but nevertheless tugged carefully at its neatly-tied ribbon, closing her eyes at the blinding glow that followed. As it faded though, she did feel fully refreshed, as her party also attested to when she scanned their statuses as well. Glancing at the bottom of the box, Jess spotted a small berry plus revitalizing pill, along with a card wishing the recipient a "Merry Christmas!" Perplexed, Jess appreciately pocketed the medicinal trinkets as she wondered the identity of such a gracious benefactor. (Certainly it couldn't have been Custard...) After a hearty breakfast, Jess joined the others outside as they approached the falls again, where a makeshift vessel was waiting for them, apparently the result of Samuel toiling tirelessly all night to have it ready as a means of transport. Jess was once again impressed by his efforts as he flexed his bicep, assuring the cramped craft would hold all their weights despite crude appearances. Once again suppressing misgivings, she boarded onto the boat, wedging between folks in order to provide sufficient space for everyone - of which there was just enough, provided most of their Pokémon remained within their Balls. (Again she was reminded of riding a similar full floatation device towards what seemed to spell certain doom...) She took a deep breath as the raft began to rise, rocking slightly to and fro as Jet's Driflbim lifted them clear off the ground, aided by a Poliwrath and Gyarados pushing from below. Jess gripped the side of the wood to remain upright as it swayed, praying there were no mishaps to send them plummeting back down, but the barge proved sturdy and true as they sailed steadily upstream against the current. Eventually the towers grew too taxed to continue, but they at least managed to make it to the top of the cliffside, where their load was deposited securely on the rock face. As they disembarked, a chill draft gusted across the mountainside, causing Jess to shiver as Athena advised to bundle up and preserve stamina, given how thin the air was up here. As the woman wrapped a scarf around her own collar, Jess thought to herself how much she hated neckwear, but nevertheless felt envious as the cutting cold seeped through her coat despite zipping it up all the way. Leaving Marina and Jet to set up base camp, the rest carried on up the trail until they came to a steep slope, heading almost straight to the peak. Engraved in the incline was a yearning cavern, confusing their guide as she couldn't recall there being an opening at this location before. Indeed, there were clear signs of recent rockslide activity, and so they advanced cautiously in case of another avalanche. As soon as Athena stepped forward to explore though, a tiny pearl floated down beside her like a snowflake, abruptly popping and scattering pebbles by her feet. Realizing the signs of peril, she shouted for everyone to get back, as more energy explosives rained down upon them, compounding to create a minefield. Jess quickly covered her head as she attempted to evade the projectiles, somehow avoiding most of the damage with but a few scrapes, having detected the same potential danger as before from familiarity (thanks to firsthand experience). Once the dust settled though, there followed a bellow from the cave's interior and the ground began to tremble, shaking several icicles loose as an icy blast blew forth. An immense shadow rumbled towards them with an angry roar, smacking into a stalagmite and knocking it into a snowbank almost right where the crowd stood, barely missing its mark by inches. The creature crashed into full view, making Jess gasp at its sheer size - capacity for chaos. While it somewhat resembled a Christmas fir tree, it seemed anything but festive; bristles running wild like sheets of spikes along its back, piercing outwards in a Y-shaped divide like two torpedoes on both flanks - essentially a frozen tank. Aware they were woefully underprepared and outmatched, Athena sounded the alarm, issuing orders to fall back for now as the brute barrelled towards them, breathing bitter cold hot on their fleeing heels. Fortunately it did not pursue them past the proximity of its lair, and so they just managed to escape with all their members intact. Returning to the river crossing, the troup relaxed significantly as they all exchanged an exhale of relief. Athena bit her lip, racking her brain for a strategy to deal with the enormous threat - along with the more minor inconvenient menaces overhead. She came to the conclusion that the culprits behind the bombs must be of the bird variety, belonging to an appropriately named avian area "Delibird Ridge". Jess concurred, having dealt with her own disorderly Delibird in the past, she knew what a hassle they could be. While she wished she had brought Custard along to aid with negotiations, there was no use regretting now over "what ifs", as she would just have to find a way to handle the hazardous fowl without his help. ...Besides, perhaps not all the penguins were pests, if the parcels left for them this morning were any indication. While a few volunteered to stay behind and serve as distractions in order to bait the beast, Jess determined to accompany Athena up to the bluff, pulling out a polar orb as pellets of hail began to descend along with decreasing drop in temperature. Releasing Kimball onto the field, she briskly caught the cone up to speed on the circumstances. "Kim, I need you to keep a lookout for any more bombers up ahead. To be safe, better increase your IRON DEFENSE in case you can't dodge them. If you spot a perpetrator, hit it first with an ICE SHARD, and try to ASTONISH it so it can't act. Be careful, some of them may be friendly so let's try not to hurt anyone unless we have to." OoC - Picking up 1x Aspear Berry & 1x Revive.

"Vander! I see Morgana!" He called out, causing Vander to rush towards his trainer. Sure enough, the large black and orange furry head of the stupid cat was exposed. He was completely knocked out, obliterated by that Glalie. However, it appeared as though everything was going to be okay. Isaac pulled out his Pokeball, returning the big cat to it in a flash of red light. As Isaac stood up, brushing the snow off of himself --- he couldn't help but notice that the arena had grown quiet. Even the air had seemingly warmed, as he spun around, he noticed a group of the trainers gathering as Athena did a headcount. He was the last to arrive, causing her to sigh in relief as she realized no one had been lost in the battle. He let out a shy smile, most of the trainers here looked way tougher than him, and he was certain that they were aware that he hadn't helped that much in the grand scheme of things. As a carriage arrived, carrying the group from the town --- Isaac couldn't help but wonder if this group would have been more fitting to his talents. He sighed, hitching a ride back to where they were all meant to be. Upon arriving at the Stone Shrine, Isaac couldn't help but feel his bones begin to ache. With the air being a bit warmer, he also felt the sting from the cut on his face rising to the surface. He winced, putting his fingers to it and sighing. Vander was going to get one hell of a lashing from Vinny when they got back to his cabin, he was sure the little Leafeon was at home missing him... he hoped he wasn't keeping her waiting too long. Taking some medicinal products from one of the captains, he fixed himself up --- and got his Pokemon fixed up in the process. He smiled meekly, he couldn't help but feel like he was amongst a family again. Such a closely knit group of people, all together for the same reasons. He took a hearty bowl of soup, happy to feel the warmth reach all parts of him. Following filling his rather empty belly on soup (many helpings of soup, he felt a little embarrassed), he bid everyone a good night and went off to bed. -------------------------------------------------------- As they awoke, they were prompted by Athena to come quickly. Isaac immediately felt panic, doning his winter gear as fast as he could and rushing to the door --- only to receive a card that simply read "Merry Christmas", along with a few choice goodies for the young man. He sighed in relief upon realizing it was nothing serious, looking at the large smiles on the other trainer's faces. After returning back inside to have a nice breakfast with the rest of the trainers, they returned to the front. There was a makeshift raft waiting for them following their trek up the waterfall, causing Isaac to feel a little queasy. He had never liked boat travel, always one to get easily seasick when he used to have to go overseas to perform. He held his breath, keeping his eyes shut as they made their way up the waterfall. Upon getting to a cave, Isaac could hear a rumbling from inside --- followed by the hulking mass of an Abomasnow coming forward from within. Isaac froze in place, seeing Athena hold her arm out to protect them. She was probably years his junior, but she certainly had guts. As Athena yelled at everyone to get back, Isaac couldn't help but ball his hand into a fist and shake his head at Athena. But the young girl was forceful, dragging him with her back towards the waterfall. Upon arriving, Isaac heard her speak of her plans, to which he gave a large nod and spoke out bravely. "I'm staying behind. I'm not sure how much help I'll be, but me and Morgana will help take down that beast." He said, determination swelling in his chest. The trainers all nodded at one another, and Isaac approached the cave once again. The Abomasnow was huge, a hulking mass that loomed far beyond the expected size of what was normal for their species... not to mention, it looked pretty angry. "Alright Morgana... that thing looks mean." Isaac spoke to his large cat, who looked as determined as his trainer felt. "I want you not to get too close to start, it seems dangerous. Go for a Bulk Up, followed by an Ember!" He called, causing the cat to ready himself. [Morgana grew to Level 36! Also claiming my two prizes :3]

"Damn. Sweet work, everyone." The blonde complimented, she and the pink Swinub joining the cluster of leftover Pokemon and their trainers. Seeing the trial trainers - future opponents, for sure - handle the last problem was pretty cool, especially as Alice admired the Poli-Pokemon (something her own little wag would eventually grow into). The fighter was glad to get some rest, feet and legs prickling from numbness as they ascended the trail to the shrine. She slipped her shoes off as soon as she could when indoors, pulling off her socks and rolling up her trousers to avoid dragging more damp along the floor. Alice exhaled dramatically, Maasa sticking close, the human wiggling her toesies and fingers as layers were removed to reveal warm 'indoor' clothes. She wasn't a soup person, but the bread that went with it was fine to accompany her stored food and she offered the soup to whoever wanted extra. Given her wariness of fire types, it might have been a surprise that Alice withdrew her Torchic to snuggle with for the night, Maasa content to settle close as well. He thrived in the cold, after all. The next morning, Alice quickly freshened up and applied make-up to match her new, dry outfit and then answered the call from before. There was a significant queue to receive some kind of present and the spoiled princess wasn't one to turn down free shit - especially if it was magical. The light overtook her, and Alice had to crouch to pick up her berry, rare candies and Revive that she dropped from surprise. Nice! Before Alice knew it they were off again, Maasa escorting them until the raft, at which point she put him away for the sake of space. She fought her antsiness to stay out of the middle of the raft, allowing the centre for people more afraid of heights. The trainer was frankly more scared of falling off and freezing or drowning, but figured the others would have her covered if she did. She politely thanked the tired Pokemon for their help (ever a polite 'Brit' - even if that place apparently didn't exist...) and followed their leaders onward. To the surprise of noone at this stage, things took a bad turn. "Holy fucking shit." Alice's foul mouth struck again, the young woman not needing to be told twice to retreat from the onslaught of attacks and the oversized Abomasnow they were faced with. Her maths sucked but even Alice knew that it was bigger than her Pokedex stated. Other trainers were quicker to the mark than she, but after brief deliberation Alice had released Blaze again. The Torchic was tiny compared to others in the pack, but like the rest of her team he was seriously packing in strength. She wished those who were off to the Ridge the best of luck and then entered the fray where they were. Although Alice was obviously easily spooked she had plenty of faith in her teeny arsenal. "Okay, my dude, join the fire types in their game! Use your focus energy and double team, and then use flamethrower! Be careful of the other Pokemon around, though, okay?" Alice rattled off her orders with confidence. The little bird chirped, beady eyes shining with determination as it entered the fray, aiming to bolster its strength before taking advantage of illusions and effective attacks.

“We’re all going to have a SLEEPOVER!?!” Patches was bouncing up and down excitedly, she even brought her white and pink polka dot onesie that she always carries with her incase an occasion such as this were to arise. She spent the night hardly getting any sleep because of how much fun it was. Then, in the morning everyone got presents! At this point, Mio the Pikachu was out of her ball and had caught up on everything that had happened up to this point. While Patches was busy being excited about the gifts, Mio made sure to listen to other conversations carefully, she was aware that this was a serious situation and she knew better than anyone that Patches still hadn’t picked up on that. It wasn’t long before they were being lifted up the waterfall. Mio was doing her best to keep Patches in control. There was only so much she could do though since Patches was excitedly leaning over the edge and causing the raft to shake even more than it already was. “Wooooooooow!” Patches was just enjoying the view as Mio was anxious about Patches falling. Thankfully, they made it without any casualties but Patches had spilled several contents from her bag across the raft from all of her leaning. Mio began to help clean up the mess but realized that they were beginning to fall behind and left Patches to do the rest and took off after the group. Once Mio had caught up with the group and after seeing the beast that had emerged from the cave she knew what she needed to do and she wasn’t going to wait up for Patches. Knowing that she’s at a disadvantage, she begins by adding an Electric Terrain to the field and then realizes she is still holding onto some of the coins she was helping clean up from Patches’ bag earlier so she figures why not and immediately follows that up with Pay Day and then, in order to take advantage of her boosted electricity she’s going to unleash a Thunderbolt on the Abomasnow! Aya grows from lv. 20 to lv. 24 Rika grows from lv. 15 to lv. 17 Claiming x1 Revive x1 Apear Berry

The Abominable Snowdown A Cloud Garden Winter Campaign Delibird Ridge: CyberBlastoise, OkikuMew, Schala, morningstar, lilbluecorsola Once everyone quickly decided what role it is they are going to fill, Athena leads a small group of volunteers up to Delibird Ridge. Upon reaching the top, there were several Delibird bouncing around having what seemed to be a fun time while throwing the occasional explosive present or two over the edge. Even though they were all causing a ruckus, they all seemed to be in high spirits, clearly full of extra cheer because of the season. “Alright everyone, this shouldn’t be too bad. Let’s take care of them quickly so that we can rejoin the others in order to stop that Abomasnow!” Athena’s Mawile charges into a large group of Delibird who were huddled together and slams into them with an Iron Head knocking them over and taking several of them out. With Athena’s Mawile taking on a large group by herself, the Delibird have now decided to fight back. A Present is suddenly thrown and lands right in front of Trono the Alolan Geodude just as he had begun to Defensively Curl. Before Trono can even process what was just thrown at him, it pops open and explodes, causing a decent amount of damage on the Pokemon, fortunately he had managed to raise his stats a bit before the hit. Trono saw exactly who threw it, so it was now time to get some revenge. He quickly uses Rock Polish in order to speed himself up and then follows that up by charging at the offending Delibird with a powerful Tackle that was also mixed with some electricity due to Galvanize. The Delibird was knocked down but stands right back up and reaches into its sack and pulls out another Present, this one he places directly on top of Trono’s head and runs away just in time for it to explode on Trono and not hit itself too. Catalina the Minior was ready to go after having done a Defense Curl of their own for a little added protection. Before moving onto its next move, a jolly Delibird approached and sat a Present down in front of it with a cheerful smile, confident that Catalina would like its gift. Suddenly, the gift bursts open and a bright flash followed; however, nothing happened. Seems the Delibird was trying to give Catalina some healing but they didn’t need any, leaving the Delibird a little disappointed, it was a well thought out gift after all. Catalina doesn’t have the heart to attack this particular Delibird directly so they then spin into a Rollout and whiz past that Delibird while working on rounding up the others using the strategy it was given. The Minior does a good job of pushing back a small group of Delibird by rolling around them. The group they surrounded seemed to be enjoying this and were throwing Presents left and right out of glee. Several explosions went off because of this, damaging Catalina as well as Monte and Trono who were unfortunately near some of the presents when they exploded. Satisfied with the distance they created, Catalina fills up the now empty space with Stealth Rocks in order to prevent them from going back. After thinking of a really good Nasty Plot, Belial the Houndoom is ready to take on whatever comes his way. This doesn’t take long because a cheery Delibird walks right up to Belial and pulls out an adorable meticulously wrapped Present that was clearly given a lot of time and attention and goes to hand it to him. After seeing the explosions that these gifts had caused before, Belial wasn’t about to accept that and blows an Ember into the Delibirds face, the attack wasn’t very powerful, several of the Ember’s fizzled out before they even reached the bird but some of them still made it, particularly hitting the gift itself and scalding the perfectly tied bow in a few spots. The Delibird gasps, completely appalled and offended. It stuffs the gift right back inside the sack in which it had pulled it from and gives Belial a short glare followed by a Drill Peck to show him that it is not happy with him and then immediately turns around flapping its wings around in an upset way, looks like Belial has managed to get himself put onto the naughty list. Despite this, he knows he has a job and so he rushes around to a group of Delibird that the Minior hadn’t pushed back earlier and uses his Inferno in order to make them back away. Once again, the flames are diminished, but regardless the Delibirds back away from it and begin joining the other group who were already pushed back, this group also begins throwing explosive Presents in random directions just like the last group did. This time they injure Catalina, Kimball, and Belial himself. Monte the Scraggy was a little upset that he was having so much fun in the snow only to get interrupted by an exploding Present that was sent his way. He is ready for a fight now though and prepares to charge in but is stopped by a somewhat disgruntled Delibird. Its mission is to give out presents and that is exactly what it’s going to do. It reaches into its sack and pulls out a beautifully wrapped Present, the bow is slightly singed from an incident earlier but otherwise it is still perfectly intact. It shoves the gift into Monte’s chest and then waits to see his reaction. Monte wasn’t expecting to be given such a nice looking gift on a battlefield like this but he can’t help but feel some excitement build up. However, before he can even open it himself, the Present opens on its own and is followed by a massive explosion, bigger than the kind of explosions that the other gifts seemed to be giving off, sending Monte tumbling. The Delibird’s mood becomes cheerful once again as it puffs out its chest feeling quite proud, knowing that it gave the best gift of all but then Monte shows him that he can dish out some Foul Play as well. The Delibird is thrown back, similarly to how Monte was thrown by the Present earlier. The Delibird is instantly back to being disgruntled and hurls an Ice Ball at Monte. He then releases a Dark Pulse which pushes back not only the Delibird who had picked a fight, but also several surrounding Delibird as well. He finishes up by charging at the offending Delibird and hitting it with a Drain Punch, recovering a bit of the health he had lost from that explosion earlier. Kimball the Vanillite raised her Iron Defense before charging into the fray. Keeping in mind that some of these Delibird may really not be out to hurt anyone, she scans the area for a good target. She notices that amongst the chaos, there is one particular Delibird who is gleefully throwing Present after Present, causing explosions to be happening everywhere, even occasionally on the other Delibirds themselves. Deciding that that is the one she’s going to go after, she hurls several Ice Shards right at the Delibird stopping it from throwing gifts immediately. The Delibird instantly knows the problem, all of the other Pokemon were directly offered gifts and this one wasn’t. With a smile and a sprinkle of Holiday cheer, the Delibird reaches into its bag and pulls out an extremely tiny Present and begins to enthusiastically charge at Kimball with gift in hand. Kimball knows better than to allow that thing to get any closer and does her best to Astonish the Delibird and stop it in its tracks. This works, the Delibird startles and jumps back, dropping the gift into the snow and it’s so tiny that it’s not long before it’s buried. The Delibird frowns at the lost gift and quickly digs through the snow in order to save it. This time, successfully handing the Present to Kimball. She immediately flinches back as the gift pops open but is only met with a bright light that instantly makes her feel a bit better after having dealt with an explosion earlier. The Delibird giggles and then runs away to join the group of other Delibirds who had been pushed back. Athena’s Mawile uses her Fairy Wind to push back the remaining large group of Delibird who were causing havoc. The majority of the Delibird’s have now been pushed away from the edge, the stragglers who still linger at the top don’t seem to be all that interested in throwing explosive gifts over anyway. “Wow, great job everyone! Getting these guys to cooperate was a lot easier than I had expected! My Mawile and I can probably handle it from here for the most part so if anyone wants to go help out against that Abomasnow you can go right ahead!” |
