Missingno. Master- Sensing the intervention of either a nasty wild Pokemon or perhaps some foul play, you decide its on you to flush out whatever was going around cutting people's lines. You release Lapras into the water and instruct her to search the water for any Pokemon with large dorsal fins, hopefully it wouldn't take her too long. Of course, using Lapras in such away might scare the fish away from your spot, which would ultimately make things harder. With Lapras under the water, you are forced to wait for a sign that she has found something. You'd also have to think of a way to replace the lure and float you'd lost when your line was cut.......

The water ripples as Lapras approaches the surface, but something else is coming up behind her. You quickly realise that she has found whatever was cutting the line as the tell tale dorsal fin soon emerges from the water. Once Lapras makes it back to you, she turns to face her pursuer. The Sharpedo then launches itself out of the water and Crunches its razor sharp teeth into Lapras's neck. The transport Pokemon cries out in pain as she shakes her head wildly in an attempt to dislodge the Sharpedo. What was a Sharpedo doing in this lake anyway?! Normally they could only be found in the open sea! Something wasn't right here.

Out of the corner of your eye, you catch the young fisherman on the back of his Blastoise snickering. He seemed to be taking delight in seeing another competitor struggle, almost too much delight....

Willa didn't much care for the situation. Having Lapras pursue the culprit was the only way to get to the bottom of this, though doing so would likely chase away the Magikarp. Still, with everyone's fishing lines cut, it wasn't as though anyone in this area would be able to try and fish them up anytime soon anyway. This was a massive inconvenience, but if they wanted any chance of getting back into the competition, this is what she had to do.

She saw the water rippling, but also saw it rippling behind the initial rippling- Lapras was coming back, and she was being chased. As the Transport Pokémon surfaced and wheeled around, the culprit surfaced as well, sinking its sharp teeth into her neck in a Crunch attack! And whatever this was, it sure had the dorsal fin Willa had seen, so that was definitely the culprit. Willa produced her Pokédex at once.

"Sharpedo, the Brutal Pokémon. A Water and Dark-type, and the evolved form of Carvanha," droned the device. "Nicknamed 'the bully of the sea', Sharpedo is widely feared for its vicious disposition. It drinks in seawater and jets it out of its backside to propel it forward."

"What is an ocean-dwelling Pokémon doing in the lake?" Willa demanded to nobody in particular. And then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw something. Or rather, someone- the fisherman atop his Blastoise, snickering, taking entirely too much delight in this turn of events to be completely innocent. Willa didn't need more than half a second to piece it all together- clearly, this was his doing. His Sharpedo, sicced on his competitor's fishing lines to improve his chances of victory. And Willa was livid.

And she wasn't the only one, either. "Maw maw! Mawile maw!" Mawile exclaimed. Much as she loved dirty tactics, not so much when her Trainer was on the business end of them.

"Spewpa Spewpa!" added Spewpa, similarly incensed.

"Lapras, stay calm!" Willa called out. Then, she turned to Spewpa and Mawile. "We'll need to get back into the game soon, so see if you can make some sort of makeshift lure and float for this," she said, handing Mawile her Fishing Rod. Then, she turned back to Lapras. "We'll take care of the Sharpedo," she stated.

"Mawile," nodded Mawile.

"Spewpa," nodded Spewpa. The two turned around to work on the rod. Whatever they were gonna do was gonna involve some serious creativity. Mawile looked around for rocks and sticks that might be useful in making the lure and float respectively, while Spewpa was set to use String Shot to help hold everything together. Especially the lure, which Mawile intended to use Sweet Scent to help with once again. It worked well the first time, after all.

Willa was about to show that cheating jerk that he and his Sharpedo had just bitten off more than they could chew. "Lapras, Dragon Pulse attack!" Willa commanded. "Get it off you, then bombard it with Hyper Voice and Freeze-Dry!"

Missingno.Master- To avoid wasting anymore time, you set Spewpa and Mawile the task of replacing the lost lure and float, allowing you to focus on helping Lapras take down the Sharpedo. You were fairly sure the Sharpedo belonged to the snickering fisherman at this point, but you'd have to find a way to prove it. While Spewpa and Mawile go about their work, you set about getting the Sharpedo dislodged from Lapras's neck. You order the struggling Pokemon to try and free itself with Dragon Pulse. Lapras gathers the energy but struggles to get a proper aim, due to the Sharpedo's position. She fires the attack, just managing to clip enough of the Sharpedo to force it free.

The Sharpedo weaves back and forth through the water, intent on not giving Lapras a clear shot. It speed seems to be increasing as time passes, your well aware of the reason. Just like your Yanmega, this Sharpedo seems to have the Speed Boost ability. Thankfully the Hyper Voice you order as a follow up attack has a wide range and Lapras seems pleased as she manages to get a full hit on the Sharpedo this time. Her joy is short lived however, as the Sharpedo is now back on the defensive. The Sharpedo streaks forward through the water, eagerly seeking Payback against Lapras. It lands a powerful hit before quickly retreating, but not fast enough. Lapras lets out a chilling blast, the Freeze Dry catches the Sharpedo on its flank, dealing a nasty Super Effective hit. Looking across the water, you notice the young fisherman is no longer smiling, his back is now turned and his Blastoise seems to be slowly moving away. The Sharpedo disappears underwater, leaving you unsure whether it has retreated or is simply waiting for another opportunity to strike. Lapras checks under the water, but she soon reemerges, shaking her head.

While you were combating the Sharpedo, Mawile and Spewpa had been hard at work. Mawile had found quite an impressive rock to act as a lure, the slender piece of stone had flakes of quartz in it, the clear crystal was refracting light which would surely help it draw the attention of passing fish. Spewpa had used her String Shot to link the stone with the remains of the line, Mawile adding her Sweet Scent again. A small piece of wood was acting as a makeshift float, it was rough, but it would do the job. You could resume fishing whenever you were ready, but were you still at risk of the Sharpedo cutting the line or had it learnt its lesson?

Willa smiled her satisfaction as Lapras fended off her attacker. Truly, the team of an Ace Trainer in the making was not to be trifled with. There was some concern, of course- having raised Yanmega from a young Yanma, Willa knew good and well how potent Speed Boost could be, but Lapras was able to fight it off quite effectively nonetheless. The Brutal Pokémon turned and fled like a wounded Wimpod after taking the Freeze-Dry, and the fisherman was no longer smiling about the situation, his Blastoise retreating slowly. But Willa wasn't willing to take it for granted that the Sharpedo was gone. However, Lapras was able to check underwater, and confirmed that it was indeed gone.

Then and only then did Willa sigh in relief, and turned to her other Pokémon, at which point she was met with a sight that made her smile- Mawile and Spewpa had been hard at work, and pieced things together admirably. Mawile had found a most amazingly perfect rock to use as a lure, and supplied the Sweet Scent once more, while Spewpa's String Shot held the whole deal together. "Thank you both," Willa said softly as she accepted the roughly repaired rod from Mawile. "Very well done. This should do the job nicely."

"Maw maw!" Mawile grinned appreciatively.

"Spewpa," added Spewpa modestly.

Fishing Rod in hand, Willa turned back to the water. "Lapras, we need to make sure the Sharpedo doesn't return, but we can't just have you going underwater to patrol, or you might intimidate the Magikarp..." Especially frustrating was the notion that although Lapras did consume fish, Magikarp were never on the menu. Weak as they were so rightly reputed to be, Magikarp had perhaps the greatest defense against predators possible; being completely inedible. All skin and bones. But even so, could Willa count on the Magikarp to know that? No, Willa had to take a different approach, one that didn't involve her Lapras, and so she held out the Ultra Ball. "Come back now, Lapras," she said, withdrawing the Transport Pokémon. Then, she enlarged and threw another Ultra Ball. "Decidueye!" she exclaimed as her Grass/Ghost-type materialized in a flash of light.

Spewpa tilted her head. "Spewp?" she wondered out loud. Mawile nodded in agreement- neither of them were sure what use Decidueye would be here.

Willa approached the Arrow Quill Pokémon. "Decidueye, I need you to take flight and keep an eye out. Use Foresight to get a clear view of what's in the water. Magikarp are fine- I'm trying to fish for them- what I need is for you to keep an eye out for a Sharpedo. Lapras already had to fend it off, and I'm not convinced it's gone for good. If you see the Sharpedo, hit it with Spirit Shackle to hold it in place, and alert me to its presence." Decidueye gave a nod and an affirmative hoot in response, before spreading her wings and taking flight. Satisfied with this, Willa prepared to cast once more. Hopefully with no further interruptions.

The ball sails across the field, spinning and tumbling erratically as it fights against the air currents trying to deflect it away, almost like it was shielding Oricorio from being captured. Patches looks on with a tense expression on her face as she keeps her cheeks sparking... Just in case, of course.

Oricorio’s wings begin twitching in the seconds before the ball finally lands, the pom-pom tufts on the end beginning to crackle with electricity as they wave in the wind. The Pokemon’s eyes dart open, and it cranes its head up in a daze just as it notices the ball flying towards it, practically in slow-motion thanks to the wind. At this point, it genuinely looks like the ball is going to fall short as it curves off-course, its dwindling momentum allowing the wind to start pushing it back where it came from like a boomerang.

Patches narrows her eyes and takes a step forwards, her ears twitching as she awaits the next set of orders from Mint... But as Oricorio hops to its feet, the Pokemon takes another glance at the ball, before suddenly it hops up and dashes after it!

Utilizing the Tailwind once again, Oricorio spreads its wings wide like sails, catching as much of air as possible to rush forwards and chase after the fleeing ball. Once its right underneath, it uses the last of its strength to glide up and tap it right on the button, causing the mechanism to activate and draw the Pokemon inside!

Patches’ little mouth hangs agape as the ball sails back to the ground and rolls to Mint’s feet, shaking lightly for a few moments before it produces click of finality. The Pachirisu goes up to it curiously, wondering what would possess the Pokemon to voluntarily go after the ball. That’s when she remembers the stakes of the battle in the first place: The cheerleading Oricorio was always eager to join the party, so long as Mint could prove that she was a worthy Trainer, and it seems she did so with flying colors!

Realizing this, Patches grins as she picks up the ball for Mint and tosses it up to her. The Tailwind finally dies down, as well, returning the weather to just a faint breeze across the field. Between Marcus, Kimmy, and this little match, it’s been a long string of fighting, but now it’s finally over, leaving just one question to answer: What will Mint do now?

Mint has obtained a Level 14 Female Oricorio! It knows the Egg Move Tailwind!

Bantu gained 3 Levels!

Patches gained 2 Levels!
Mint's expression deflated as the Oricorio's Tailwind managed to throw her Poke Ball off course, if only barely. She had thought she'd compensated for the wind enough, but alas, the ball came up just short. As small sparks crackled in Oricorio's feathers, Patches immediately leapt to attention, ready to continue the match...until the Oricorio leapt after the missed Poke Ball! Using its own Tailwind, it leapt through the air as gracefully as anything Mint had ever seen, leaping and bounding after the red and white sphere, until it firmly planted a foot on the capture mechanism, causing the ball to open and quickly take the bird inside.

The Tailwinds died down as the Ball's incessant wiggling brought it up to Patches, where it stopped with a telling click. Patches tilted her head in confusion, not understanding why a Pokémon would effectively capture itself, but nonetheless picked up the Ball and offered it to her Trainer's waiting hands.

Mint picked up her new acquisition, Sprocket quickly coming over to run a detailed assessment on Mint's newest teammate. For one thing, Oricorio was a girl-that would definitely guide whatever name she would give it, though Mint wasn't sure just what that would be yet. The other was that Tailwind had been an Egg Move, which was a stroke of luck to be sure-maybe it was her Hoenn heritage talking, from her dad's side, but wild Pokémon with Egg Moves were more typically skittish about human interaction.

In any case, as the adrenaline of both this battle and the last finally died down, Mint found herself suddenly exhausted. She'd originally thought of heading down to the Starline and looking for Water Pokemon, but that would have to be another day. Today, she just wanted to head back to her humble islet abode and get a good nap.

(OOC: Thank you for helping to finish this wonderful adventure, and bless you Gary for making it happen at all. Claiming my new Oricorio! She will be getting her name soon, don't you worry about that, but there's a few things to be done first...)

Missingno. Master- With your rod repaired and the Sharpedo no longer lurking in the depths, you need to get back into the competition. Time was passing quickly and so far you weren't even in it! You needed to get a Magikarp, but what if the Sharpedo came back and cut your line again? Lapras would only scare off any remaining fish, so you recall her, thanking her for her services. You call upon another Pokemon to help ward off the Sharpedo, one that could do so from a distance. Decidueye listens to your instructions before taking flight, using Foresight to help her see clearly through the water. If she spotted the Sharpedo she would pin it in place with a Spirit Shackle.

With every contingency in place, you cast a line out, hoping with all your heart that the Sharpedo hadn't scared off all of the Magikarp. Unfortunately the rods radar confirms your worst fears. Before you'd seen plenty of markers indicating potential catches, but now only a couple remained. They didn't seem too interested in your lure either, it seems it just isn't doing it for them. You're about to reel it in and try again when you feel a sudden tug on the end of the line. It isn't as strong as before, but you begin to reel it in anyway. Whatever is on the other end puts up little struggle as you reel it in as fast as you can. It isn't long before your latest catch comes into view, its a Magikarp! Unfortunately it is nowhere near as big as the one the Sharpedo had cut free, its nowhere near as big as any of the other Magikarp you'd seen around. The small fish splashes around on the end of the line, could you afford to be picky at this point?

With everything thought of, every possible issue planned for, Decidueye on the prowl, Willa cast her line once more. But one small detail arose pretty quickly- namely, the commotion earlier seemed to have scared off most of the Magikarp. The rod's radar was showing next to nothing, and Willa was left waiting for a good while, with the few fish showing little interest in the lure. Willa gave a small sigh, and before she could start reeling in her line, she felt a tug! "Oh! A bite!" she murmured, reeling it in. It wasn't as powerful of a tug as she'd felt previously, but at this point, she'd take what she could get. Nevertheless, the Magikarp she reeled in really was not as impressive as the previous one had been, the one that got away no thanks to that Sharpedo, and no doubt that jerk of a fisherman on his Blastoise...

"Spewpa..." sighed Spewpa.

"Maw," grumbled Mawile. She kept an eye on the open water, wondering if she'd see that Blastoise or its smug passenger again. His almost certain involvement in the Sharpedo attack was not lost on her.

Willa, meanwhile, reeled in the Magikarp nonetheless. She'd be very, very surprised if this one ended up winning her the competition, but at this point, it was something. At the very least, she figured she could hold onto it, try to fish for another one, and throw it back if she caught something larger.

"Mawile," said Willa, causing the Steel/Fairy-type to blink and look up at her Trainer. "Keep an eye on this Magikarp, won't you?" she asked. "I'm going to try and see what else might bite in the meantime."

"Mawile maw," nodded Mawile as Willa set the Magikarp down. Mawile kept a careful eye on it as Willa cast her line again, hoping she wouldn't have to do much else. But prepared to act if necessary, make no mistake about that, whether it was stopping Magikarp from getting away, or preventing anything from happening to it- after all, she was already certain there was at least one cheating lowlife in this competition, and damn it, Mawile wasn't about to let her own reputation as a cheating lowlife get tarnished by letting another cheating lowlife get the better of her or her Trainer! Spewpa crawled over as well, intent on helping with this. Peacefully if at all possible, but if it meant restraining the catch with String Shot, that's what she'd do. Either way, she set up with Harden beforehand, just as a precaution. Possibly for nothing, but growing up with Mawile for a teammate kinda taught you to expect the unexpected.

And Willa? Willa was determined to win. Not just to get the awesome new fishing rod to replace Keith's destroyed one, but also to defy the underhanded tactics of that cheater.

Missingno. Master- Spewpa hardens its scales at it slinks across to help Mawile contain the captured Magikarp. The Bug wraps it in a String Shot, helping to restrain it. The small Magikarp certainly wasn't a competition winner, but at least it meant you were officially in the contest. Decidueye continues to circle, keeping a sharp eye on the water, looking for any sign of the Sharpedo's return. You had to try and get something bigger, if you were going to stand any chance of winning this competition. You fling the line out once more, the lure quickly sinks under the surface and the float bobs softly on top of the water.

You're left waiting for quite some time. Nothing seems to be biting. Most of the other competitors around you have moved off to another location, perhaps there is nothing left in this spot? The radar shows no signs of activity either, if you were to have any chance of winning, you'd have to change things up. A familiar figure approaches, the large Gyarados that you'd tangled with earlier approaches from across the other side of the lake. Mariana sits atop her Pokemon, once it gets close enough to shore she leaps off, landing gracefully on the shore. "How goes the fishing?" Mariana questions, but it doesn't take long for her to spot your catch. "Oh that's a cute little carp", she claims, holding in a giggle. "There is just under an hour remaining, thought I'd let you know. Have you had any trouble? A few competitors have reported their lines being cut, some are claiming its sabotage. I don't suppose you've seen anything?"

For a while, things were quite uneventful. Spewpa and Mawile were keeping watch on the one Magikarp Willa had managed to hook, Decidueye was keeping careful watch for any signs of Sharpedo, and Willa was trying in vain to hook something. Anything. She was not winning with her current catch, and she knew it. Alas, nothing was biting. Most of the competitors in the area had given up on said area, and Willa was heavily considering doing likewise when came the Gyarados from before, with an equally familiar rider on board. "Hello, Mariana," Willa said, though she closed her eyes in momentary exasperation not long after- Mariana may as well have not bothered to hold back the giggle. However, what Mariana said next got Willa's eyes to fly right back open.

"Maw Mawile maw-" Mawile began hotly. The very mention of this sabotage was infuriating the Deceiver Pokémon. Spewpa looked equally indignant, though remained silent, and even Decidueye gave a distasteful hoot from her position in the air.

"I've got this handled Mawile," Willa interrupted gently, before turning back to Mariana, reeling in her line, holding up the end to show the makeshift fixes that were made necessary. "Immense trouble," she stated. "Earlier, a Sharpedo came through and cut the fishing lines of everyone who was in this area, mine included. Lapras drove it away, and I've been having Decidueye up there keeping an eye out should it return, but the damage seems to have been done- you're seeing for yourself the one and only Magikarp I was able to reel in following that incident. I have no proof that it was sabotage specifically, but I recall seeing one fisherman atop a Blastoise who seemed to take pleasure in our predicament, up until the Sharpedo was being driven away, and I personally find it highly unlikely that a wild Sharpedo would be in a lake." She took hold of one of her Ultra Balls at this point. "By all means, if you would like proof, I invite you to examine my Lapras's neck," Willa continued. "The Sharpedo landed a Crunch attack at one point, I have no doubt the bite marks would still be there." With that, she tossed the Ultra Ball into the air, and Lapras materialized on the ground before them. "Lapras, would you show Mariana here where the Sharpedo bit you?" Willa asked gently. Lapras complied, turning to show exactly where on her neck the Crunch attack had got her.

Missingno.Master- Your intent on making sure the owner of the Sharpedo is caught and brought to justice, so you ask Mariana to examine your Larpas's neck. There was still marks there from when the Sharpedo had Crunched down on her, hopefully it was enough proof to get Mariana to do something about it. The Trial Captain approaches Lapras and carefully examines the bite mark, making sure not to cause her any unnecessary pain. Once she is done, she pulls a Sitrus Berry from her pocket and feeds it to the Water type, helping to relieve some of the pain she had injured.

"It certainly does seem to be a Sharpedo bite, I've seen plenty before. Unfortunately, all it does is confirm that a Sharpedo was the cause of the incidents. You're right in that there is no way a Sharpedo could be in here without it belonging to someone, but we have no way of knowing who it belongs to, even if you have your suspicions. If you could find some sort of evidence that proves who the Sharpedo belongs to, I could have them kicked out of the competition and punished accordingly. Otherwise I'm afraid we will just have to chalk all of this up to bad luck."

You are presented with a dilemma. If the Sharpedo belonged to who you thought it did, then they would likely win the competition and get away with cheating. If you stopped fishing and tried to prove that he was cheating, you didn't stand a chance at winning, but then at least whoever won would deserve to. You'd have to devote all of your energy to one course of action, as with the limited amount of time left, you could afford to split your attention.

Lapras stayed still as Mariana examined her neck. It hurt still, but the Trial Captain was careful, something Lapras truly appreciated, to say nothing of the Sitrus Berry she fed the Water/Ice-type afterwards. Lapras squealed happily and appreciatively after swallowing the berry, already feeling the pain from the bite starting to go away.

Mariana spoke to Willa- she did indeed identify it as a Sharpedo bite, but that was all Willa was able to prove here. She gave a small sigh, knowing Mariana was right.

Mawile was considerably less understanding about this. "Maw maw Mawile maw-" she began to rant.

"Mawile, it's okay," Willa interrupted gently. "Mariana is absolutely right- we have no solid evidence that that man owns that Sharpedo. Nor do I think we're going to be able to gather the evidence we'd need, not in the little time we have," she added, sounding distinctly displeased by this fact.

"Spewpa spew?" inquired Spewpa, still keeping an eye on the small Magikarp Willa had reeled in earlier.

"Maw Mawile maw..." Mawile grumbled, totally dissatisfied with this turn of events.

Willa turned to look upwards. "We'll continue to fish. Decidueye, point us to wherever you see larger Magikarp," she stated. "We'll have no luck here, the Sharpedo saw to that. Lapras, would you be up to carrying us if necessary?" she added, now addressing the Transport Pokémon. She smiled gently as both Decidueye and Lapras responded affirmatively. Even Mawile gave a curt nod- she'd go with this for now, but if she could think up a way to get that cheating jerk disqualified, she was going to speak up. She'd help watch the Magikarp that Willa had reeled in, but she'd also keep her eyes peeled for any sort of evidence. She wasn't sure if she'd see anything, but it wouldn't stop her from trying.

TKF - The boy’s gaze is snatched away from the trio of starters as Xander runs down the hill, yelling at him to back off.

His expression is initially one of anger, but as Xander goes off on him it turns to one of confusion, “what are you talking about? It was just a campfire I set up for my art piece!” he defends himself, his Smeargle backing him up with an indignant nod.

Froakie’s face contorts into a scowl, however, and he leaps over towards the smoldering ruins of the fire, his dramatic show capturing the gaze of the boy and his Pokemon. With very exaggerated gestures, he points out once again that the tents were far too close to the fire, which is what caused one of them to catch ablaze. Treecko nods in support, already having tried to explain it when first confronted, but he’s hoping that with Xander around to communicate more directly that the boy will clue-in.

The painter weaves past his line-up of Pokemon to approach where Froakie sits, his angry frown slowly fading into one of shocked realization upon noticing the problem, “they were just placed close enough so that I’d get the right angles and framing, they weren’t supposed to catch fire!” he says to Xander and his Pokemon, “I made sure of it!”

Chimchar growls and jumps up next to Froakie, getting right into the boy’s face and pointing a finger straight at the burned cloth. He may not have intended for it to catch fire, but that didn’t stop it from happening.

“But...” the boy stammers out, looking like he’s about to make another excuse, but he just sighs, “fine. I apologize for accidentally causing a fire...” he admits in a defeated tone. All of Xander’s Pokemon grin, feeling rather good about defusing the situation, but just a beat later the painter’s frown returns as he looks over the ruined campsite, “but was it truly necessary for you to use such a high-powered move to quell a small fire? These tents weren’t cheap to rent, and now I have to fix them in order to avoid a fine and finish my piece. Unless...” his gaze traces its way back to Xander as he puts a paint-splattered finger to his chin and thinks.

The deflating look on Treecko’s smile shows Xander that he knows exactly where this is going.

“I challenge you to a battle with I, Allan!” he says, pointing straight at the Trainer, “if I win, then you have to help me fix these tents so I can finish my piece! If you win, then I shall admit defeat and go to the river!” he exclaims, causing his trio of Smearlge, Floette and Chatot to all perk up and line-up next to their Trainer, each of them sizing-up the starters with rather cocky expressions on their faces.

It seems Allan doesn’t think Xander’s off the hook yet, which annoys the three starters, but on the bright side, his challenge is exactly what they’ve been looking for. How will he respond to this turn of events?

CrazyCreeperKid - Traversing the rolling hills is proving to be somewhat of a hike already, but with Pachirisu at her side and the call of adventure guiding her forwards, Brianna is spurred to keep walking, even as the winding path seems to go on endlessly. Well, perhaps not endlessly, as the mountain’s grand presence continues to grow ahead of them as they walk towards its foot...

Pachirisu continues to wander about during the trek, taking in the scenery up-close before the Trainer’s worried callings reign her back in to Brianna’s side. Perhaps the worry that she’d get herself lost one day is quite founded, but for now she always seems to come back pretty much as soon as Brianna starts calling, much to her relief.

The day goes by without much notable happening. While the Galea Plains holds a diverse array of Pokemon, it’s hard to imagine that they’d willing stray close to the beaten path, not when it seems like Brianna is far from the only Trainer to romp around this part of Cloud Garden. As the sun begins to dip from its place atop the mountain’s spire, the thought of whether the cabin is just up ahead or yet even farther away comes back to mind...

Just as it looks like they’re never going to reach it, however, Brianna and her Pokemon both see puffs of smoke coming from just a few hills further towards the mountain! Pachirisu looks ecstatic, and she quickly dashes towards the source of the smoke, forcing Brianna to run along to keep up before she disappears into the grass!

After a short jog, the two of them finally reach the top of one of the hills to find their destination waiting for them: Nestled atop the very next hill is a cozy-looking wood cabin surrounded by a fence. Smoke streams out from the cobblestone chimney at a leisurely pace, while a vibrant garden is contained all around the cabin’s perimeter, displaying a bouquet of plants, some familiar, and some Brianna has never seen before. It definitely looks like the kind of cabin a ranger would call home.

Though Pachirisu looks excited to have finally made it, it doesn’t take long for that excitement to give way to tired hunger as the little squirrel’s belly starts to rumble. Hopefully there’s somebody home, and by extension, hopefully they’re willing to feed two hungry guests.

Heading up to the door and knocking, it doesn’t take long to get an answer. The door opens, and on the other side Brianna sees a woman who appears to be in her mid-20’s. She has long, straight hair that starts off earthy brown and ends in dipped tips of verdant green. Her blue denim overalls contrast heavily with her bright orange vest, and both look to be well-worn and discolored all over by old dirt stains, but it’s also fairly practical considering the cabin is surrounded by nothing but wilderness and rough mountain.

As she looks Brianna up and down, the woman smiles and nods to her and Pachirisu, “ah, hello! Welcome to my ranger cabin. My name is Liatris. Please, come in.” Liatris invites, pulling the door open as she moves out of the way, exposing the interior of the cabin. It looks as cozy as it does on the outside, and by the fireplace Brianna can see a Bayleef lounging around on a couch, “what brings you all the way out here?” she asks with a hospitable smile, “are you two hungry at all? Plenty of people tend to be if they just came from town.”

It seems Brianna has made it to her destination, and has received a warm welcome from the ranger there. What will she do, and what purpose for her trek will she give to the kind Liatris?

It seems Brianna has made it to her destination, and has received a warm welcome from the ranger there. What will she do, and what purpose for her trek will she give to the kind Liatris?

After some time, Brianna had seen smoke coming from behind a hill. She quickly jogged towards there, Pachirisu following suit - they soon reached the ranger cabin, in all its beauty. They were multiple beautiful flowers, some sprouting berries, red roses, white lilacs, purple hydrangeas, and the like were sprinkled around this quaint cabin. Pachirisu took multiple sniffs in the mass of flowers, and nipped a hydrangea, for who knows why.

Brianna dropped two quiet knocks on the door, waiting a few seconds before the door opened, revealing a woman in her late twenties, dressed in very ranger-like garb, which was speckled with many stains. This was clearly the owner of the house. She introduced herself as Liatris, and invited Brianna inside. Brianna walked into the small building, which was extremely cozy inside. Beside a fireplace was a sleeping Bayleef, which seemed to make the air a lot more fresh than it should be, seeing that this was a fairly small cabin with a full fireplace.

Liatris began with the questions, asking if Brianna was hungry. She wasn't really, as she had taken a sandwich before she had come. But Pachirisu on the other hand nudged her trainer aggressively.
"I'm not that hungry, so I'll pass. But my Pokemon is extremely hungry. Some berries or some apricorns would be nice." Brianna said, as she gestured towards the Pachirisu on her shoulder.

Liatris then asked her about why she wanted to hike, which Brianna was ready to answer.
"I came here for a calm adventure, to be frank." she said, and she began an anecdote on the multiple stories her boyfriend had told her about his "daring adventures" and she wanted to try one herself.

It seemed both parties were in the wrong, but it seemed Allan was down a fair amount of cash. The loser of the battle would have to cover the costs of the damage, which was a fair call. He'd have no trouble covering the costs, but he didn't intend to if he didn't have to. Chimchar, Froakie and Treecko were all eager to battle, so battle they would.

"You're on Allan, loser covers the costs! Chimchar, Froakie, Treecko, at the ready!" The trio stood side by side, eager to face their opponents. For the most part the match ups were even, apart from the Chatot having an advantage over Treecko. The Floette was likely packing some Grass type moves, but Froakie could easily get around that with its Protean ability. "Chimchar, Fake Out then get it angry with a Taunt before landing a Power-Up Punch. Froakie, use Smack Down on the Chatot, then follow with an Ice Beam! Treecko, Screech at Floette then strike it down with an Iron tail while its disrupted.

Xander was unsure about the battling skills of his opponent. At this point he was just testing the waters, sounding out his opponent to see how he'd respond. The one thing he was concerned about was the Smeargle. They were unpredictable, there was no way of knowing what moves it had Sketched. If they could narrow down its movepool, they'd have a better shot at limiting the damage it could cause. A triple battle was hard enough, without having to worry about whacked out movepools.

Missingno.Master- You had the option of trying to prove the man's guilt or give yourself another chance at winning the competition. You decide that it would be too difficult to prove the man owned the Sharpedo, especially given the time restrictions. No, it was best that you concentrate on catching a bigger Magikarp, one that could beat his! You weren't going to catch anything else here though, you had to try your luck elsewhere. You send Decidueye out to search for larger Magikarp, which wasn't exactly hard since the one you had was tiny.....

The Decidueye begins to circle, so you and your Pokemon leap onto Lapras, Mawile holding the small Magikarp you had reeled in. You get to the spot Decidueye had picked out, but as you go to cast your line, you notice another nearby fisherman reel in the large Magikarp that Decidueye had spotted. Darn it! You weren't having any luck at all today. Decidueye continues the search, but time was running out. It seems to be getting hard for Decidueye to find the Magikarp, either all the larger ones were caught, or they'd wised up to the situation and gone deeper into the lake. You're about to cast your line, one last time, when suddenly a siren goes off, signalling the end of the competition!

Well, it looks like you're stuck with your little Magikarp. You head back over to the main area, the flock of competitors quickly assembles. Mariana's assistants collect the Magikarps, tagging them before placing them in a massive holding tank. While you await the award ceremony, you check out the other Magikarp. There truly were some monster Magikarp in there, their tremendous size put your puny one to shame. You even spot one Magikarp that is a golden colour, rather than the typical orange. Eventually you're drawn away from the tank by Mariana's voice, spread across the crowd via a Microphone.

"Congratulations to all competitors after another successful Magikarp Fishing Competition. Congratulations again to all of you who caught a Magikarp and better luck next time for those of you who did not." You look around the crowd, there were a number of competitors hanging their heads, disappointed that they had failed to catch a Magikarp. Perhaps they had been robbed by the Sharpedo? "Now for the awards! In 3rd place is Gertrude from Geosenge Town with a Magikarp measuring in at 1.5m long!" An older woman cheers, raising her old rod high into the air as she steps forward to collect her prize. "In 2nd Place, Youngster Derek from Twinleaf Town!" A young boy cries out excitedly, this was likely the biggest moment of his life so far. He accepts the prize with a tears in his eyes. "Derek's Magikarp came in at a 2.2m long! Finally our winner, setting a new competition record in the process with a Magikarp measuring in at 3m long, Kade from Vermillion City!" This contestant was no surprise to you. The man heads up alongside his Blastoise, collecting his prize with a massive grin on his face. He then snatches the microphone from and gives an impromptu speech.....

"Thanks everyone for coming along today. With practice, I'm sure you'll all become skilled anglers like myself. But when it comes down to the 'crunch', there can only be one champion and that's me!" No one cheers as he hands the microphone back to Mariana and heads off with his Blastoise.

"Ummm, thanks for that Kade, but may I remind everyone that winning isn't everything. That's why as a special award, I'd like to present this new fishing rod to Willa Carnet, for a valiant effort despite adversity." This time the crowd applauds as they part in front of you, clearing a path for you to go and collect your prize.

You're being presented a regular Fishing Rod

You're being presented a regular Fishing Rod
Willa, Spewpa, and Mawile all boarded Lapras once Decidueye started circling an area, but by the time they got there, a nearby fisherman had already reeled in the large Magikarp that the Grass/Ghost-type had spotted. Undeterred, Decidueye continued the search, with Willa refusing to give up as well, but ultimately, their efforts were futile. A siren went off, entirely too soon in Willa's personal opinion, signaling the end of the competition. Willa gave a sigh as they proceeded back to shore. She had a Magikarp to present for judging, but there was no chance of victory here. Hell, she'd just now seen a fisherman reeling in something objectively larger than what she had.

The certainty of defeat was driven home even harder when Willa saw the huge holding tank. Big, big, massive Magikarp within, putting her catch to shame easily. Some lucky fucker had even hooked a Shiny. Before it came her turn to hand over her Magikarp to be tagged and placed in the tank, Willa looked at the relatively diminutive fish she held, managing a small yet brave smile. "Well, we won't be winning today, but I thank you all the same, little one," she murmured. "You'll be a mighty Gyarados someday, I'm sure of it. I hope someday I get to see how much you've grown."

And then came the judging. Willa withdrew Lapras and Decidueye once the competition had ended, but Spewpa was still on her shoulder, and Mawile had actively refused to go in her ball, wanting to see the results for herself.

Willa did not even get her hopes up, though as she looked around, she saw a fair few competitors hanging their heads, as though similarly resigned to the notion of defeat. Were they, too, forced to hand over whatever tiny Magikarp they could fish up after Sharpedo cut their lines? Or... did they even get anything at all? It occurred to Willa that maybe not everyone whose line had been cut may have been able to work around the issue as she did. And then the winners were announced- third place was an older woman from Geosenge Town who must have been quite skilled, since her tool of choice appeared to be an Old Rod. Second place was a young boy who was beyond thrilled to have even come in second. And first place... Willa would be lying if she said she didn't see it coming, but all the same, she'd at least hoped someone might have managed to outshine that bastard... but no. Kade, as he was called, headed up along with his Blastoise to claim his prize, but was that enough for the smug fucker? Nope. Jerk had to rub it in by swiping the microphone and making an impromptu speech. Mawile seethed in fury at this man and his gloating, right down to the little "crunch" part, all but confirming it was his Sharpedo involved in the little matter without actually implicating himself. His speech was met with no cheering whatsoever. Mawile was hissing and jeering, and Willa, impassive as her expression was for the most part, had a fire in her eyes, betraying the boiling fury her calm expression otherwise hid so well. She had half a mind to sic Eelektross on that man right then and there, but she resisted the urge. Her mother always taught her, accept defeat gracefully. Not that she wanted to just let that Kade asshole get away with this, of course, but there was a time and place for everything.

After Kade left, Mariana turned out to not be done. She went on to remind everyone that winning isn't everything, and then, to Willa's great surprise, went on to present another award- a new Fishing Rod to none other than Willa, commemorating her valiant effort even in the face of adversity.

Willa's eyes widened ever so slightly as she heard her own name being called. Even Mawile was taken aback by this, and Spewpa just looked happy for her Trainer. As Willa proceeded forward, nodding appreciatively at those who stepped aside to clear a path for her, those who were actually applauding her, she couldn't help but give a small smile. She may not have won, but she was at least getting what she'd entered for in the first place- a new Fishing Rod to replace the one Gyarados had destroyed. It might not have been the fancy, flashy new model that Kade may as well have stolen, the undeserving shit, but honestly, it wasn't necessary. A Fishing Rod like this is what Keith had been using all along, it was with that sort of rod that he taught Willa how to fish. Willa could live with this.

At last, Willa reached the stage, small yet sincere smile in place as she accepted the Fishing Rod from Mariana. "Thank you very much," Willa said to the trial captain.

"Spewpa, Spewpa," Spewpa added happily.

"Maw..." Mawile murmured, still glaring in the direction Kade had gone. She was at least satisfied that Willa had gotten a Fishing Rod to replace Keith's old one, but the fact that Kade just got to get away with the Tauros shit he'd just pulled, that infuriated the Deceiver Pokémon. Willa should have outright won, and nobody would convince Mawile otherwise.

*Willa obtained a Fishing Rod!*

OOC: Restarting my adventure here, as Shadow said he'd pick me up and wanted a fresh start.

Mount Zephyria was no stranger to Alex at this point. Having visited the location a few times, he had grown quite favourable to the climes and while he retained his ambitions of scaling to the peak of the mountain, he recognised that to venture up there unprepared would be a fool's errand. Besides, there was still much more to see and do down on the foothills, and he knew that there were symbols to collect, a sort of badge system the rangers of the Cloud Garden kept to test the best of the best.

One would wonder, then, why he had chosen to venture into the famous orchards of the lowlands, rather than the garden, forest or shrine where the goals he had in mind resided. The reason was simple: he wished to have a bit of r'n'r before he pushed towards these locations, and was interested in giving some of his lesser used pokemon some much needed exercise, as well as getting to know them better.

Before him, two of these were out in the open, and of the two, Harpe the Aipom was probably the one Alex knew best. Adamant on not evolving, the chimp preferred being on her feet and being small, and had a bit of a reputation, being one of the surprise aces on Alex's team during the War of the Roses a couple years back. Xiphos the Minccino, conversely, was still something of a curiosity to him. Having arrived in the Hatchery a couple years ago, the chinchilla had somehow matured, but sorely needed some proper experience out in the field, having opted to be more of a cleaner rather than a fighter, something that would have to be ironed out a bit, and Alex felt that a trip to the orchard would do the normal type well enough, given that usually these sorts of locations were docile enough for many. Additionally, Alex was feeling a bit charitable: if the situation came around that the owners of the orchard wanted a hand with the harvest or something, he'd be glad to help out.

Xiphos rubbed his head, having failed yet again to woo the oblivious Aipom and receiving a comical wallop on the noggin by the chimp's tail hand by accident. That would be another lesson to teach him, some manners and respect around a lady, and how to actually approach a mon of interest without coming across as a creep. Giving a roll of the eyes, Alex watched and followed the pair fairly closely, wandering through the trees and taking in the relative peace and quiet, thankful that this time there wasn't any greedy Weavile or rampaging Beartic. Man, that winter invasion and giant Mega Abomasnow a while back were a definite mountain to climb...

Missingno. Master- It seemed like you had yourself a new rival/enemy. Kade had one, despite your certainty that he had cheated his way to victory. You can't help but feel like you could have prevented that outcome, if only you'd gone searching for the evidence....

Mawile looks like she's about to go rushing off after the cheating piece of crap, but she stops when she notices Mariana making her way over. The crowd was already starting to dissipate but Mariana was still slow in her progress through the remaining contestants, many stopping her to get a photo with her. Eventually she makes it to you though, a smile on her face. "Sorry it took me so long to get to you, feels like everyone wants a piece of me sometimes. I'm also sorry we didn't find out who was responsible for disrupting the competition, I'll look into some preventative measures for next years competition. I hope that rod is a fitting replacement for the one my Gyarados broke, I'd also like to offer you something else. The Magikarp you caught is a bit too small to be released down stream with the others so it'll have to be released back into the lake. However, I'd like to offer you the chance to capture it first, I don't normally allow this, but given what I've put you through, I've decided to make an exception. Just make your way over to the tank and one of my assistants will help you out. Feel free to come take on my trial some time as well, it would be great to see you again."

Mariana waves you goodbye as she heads off to organise the clean up. You look over towards the tank holding the Magikarp, would you go and collect your catch?

You have the opportunity to catch a lvl 10 Male Magikarp. It is 0.5x the regular height and weight (this is redeemable at the Boutique.

Willa looked down at Mawile, who was grumbling to herself as she kept looking in the direction Kade had gone. "I know, Mawile," she sighed. "I feel like we could have done something different. What exactly, I can't say, but... well, perhaps in the future we will find an opportunity to see to it he gets what he deserves. And when that opportunity does come, Mawile, I will gladly work with you to make it happen," Willa promised.

"...Maw," Mawile gave a nod, satisfied with this for the time being. Something about how well Willa was taking this was definitely helping, too, since much of Mawile's indignation at the situation was on her Trainer's behalf in the first place.

It took time for Mariana to get through the crowd, with so many stopping her in hopes of getting a photo with her. This was something of a familiar notion to Willa, with her mother being a famous movie star and League Champion- numerous times she'd have to wait patiently while her mother made her way through hordes of adoring fans before Diantha could actually get to her daughter. Patience always paid off back then, however, and so Willa waited patiently here.

And by no means did said patience go unrewarded! Willa nodded as Mariana apologized for taking so long. "It's quite alright," she said. "I... must say, I know what you mean. Thank you," she added as Mariana promised to try and implement some preventative measures for the next competition. "I... regret that I have nothing concrete to go on for this, but I would definitely keep a very close eye on... Kade, he's called?"

"Maw! Mawile maw!" Mawile nodded emphatically.

The subject then turned to the Fishing Rod Willa was given. "It looks like it'll be perfectly fine, thank you," Willa smiled, holding the Fishing Rod. "I would have liked to win the grand prize for my boyfriend, but by no means do I think he'll have any objections to this," she stated.

And then, Mariana stated that she was offering Willa something else; the Magikarp she'd entered. It was too small to release downstream with the others, and while normally this would just mean it gets released back into the lake, but after all Wila had gone through today, Mariana felt an exception was in order. "I can catch it?" Willa murmured. "Thank you, Mariana. Sincerely, thank you. I'll take good care of Magikarp," she promised. "Next time we meet, I'll show you how much it'll have grown."

"Spewpa," Spewpa murmured wonderingly as Willa made her way towards the tanks.

"Indeed," Willa nodded. "I wasn't expecting to be allowed to catch the little Magikarp. I expect the two of you to help make him feel welcome," she added, addressing both Spewpa and Mawile. Mawile moreso than Spewpa.

But Mawile gave an uncharacteristically sincere nod. "Maw, Mawile maw!" she promised. Willa was mildly surprised by this, but accepted it without question. And true enough, Mawile's promise was genuine, though not entirely for the purest of reasons. Indeed, Mawile was still thinking about how best to get back at Kade, and came to the conclusion that helping ensure the healthy growth and development of this Magikarp would be a beautiful form of revenge- help see to it that Willa got something far better out of this than Kade could ever hope to get with his underhanded cheating. Even if Mawile herself generally condoned and outright encouraged underhanded cheating. She was complicated like that sometimes. But Willa wouldn't have Mawile any other way.

Spewpa had voiced agreement to this as well, and so Willa made her way over to the tank. She knew it was the right one- not only was the Magikarp absurdly small, but it also seemed to recognize her. "Karp?" it gurgled.

"Ah, miss Carnet," the assistant greeted her. "The trial captain's informed us of the exception. Are you here to claim the Magikarp?"

Willa nodded. "I am," she confirmed. She turned to the tank, giving a small smile to Magikarp, who looked somewhat excited. And once Magikarp was removed from the tank and offered to her, Willa spoke up. "It seems we're allowed to remain together, little one," Willa stated, taking an Ultra Ball out of her bag and holding it out towards the Water-type. "And I would love to have you on my team. What do you say?"

Magikarp did not say much in response, but as they say, actions speak louder than words, and in that regard, Magikarp said a mouthful; he wriggled out of a surprised assistant's grasp, and achieved admittedly impressive height with an impromptu Splash, landing right on the Ultra Ball's button. The ball opened up, and Magikarp, transformed into a mass of red energy, was sucked inside. The ball slammed shut and wriggled around a little in Willa's palm, though she got the feeling that this was more due to Magikarp's enthusiasm than any sort of true escape attempt, for indeed, the ball clicked shut within seconds.

Willa gave a small smile to the ball in her hand. "Welcome to the team, Magikarp," she murmured. "We'll make a great team, I know it." With that, Willa thanked the competition staff, sought out Mariana to thank her one last time, and then decided it was time to head for home.

...that was Willa's decision, anyway. Mawile, on the other hand, had come to realize that no, she freaking was not content to just let Kade get away with this, even just for the time being! The Steel/Fairy-type tugged on Willa's skirt to catch her attention. "Maw Mawile maw! Mawile wile Mawile!" she exclaimed.

Willa and Mawile locked eyes for a good moment, and then she nodded. "Then let's try and catch up with him," she said simply. It occurred to Willa just how satisfying it was to even just say that- she'd gotten herself convinced that she would be content with how things went, but ultimately? No. She'd let it slide when she had to focus all her efforts on trying to win the competition legitimately, and between getting a perfectly serviceable Fishing Rod to replace Keith's old one, and now having a Magikarp on her side, she couldn't say that that was a bad decision. But now that there were no more pressing matters at hand? It was fucking payback time. It was Mawile who had paid such keen attention to the direction Kade had gone off in, and so it was Mawile leading the way, with Willa following intently, Spewpa still on her shoulder. Her face betrayed nothing to this effect, but as she thought back to the blatant cheating, to Sharpedo's attack on Lapras, to his smug gloating victory speech, she grew steadily more angry at the cheating scumbag, something Mawile in particular could seriously appreciate.

Missingno. Master- Having captured the tiny Magikarp you managed to hook during the competition, you prepare to head home. Mawile has other plans though, she wants revenge. Kade had robbed you of a chance at victory, let alone all the other contestants he had impacted. While you couldn't be certain it was him who had commanded the Sharpedo to cut the lines, you had a strong gut feeling. Mawile had been watching the cheating shit the whole time, she knew which way he went, all you had to do now was track him down.....

The young man's path is nice and clear. It seems he is following the river, heading down stream, likely towards the ocean. His boot prints are clear in the mud along the edge of the river, if you moved quick enough you'd likely catch up to him in no time. Mawile is moving swiftly, but eventually comes to a stop when the boot prints suddenly disappear. Where did he go?

"Is there a reason why your following me?" A smug voice drifts down from the bank on the other side of the river. "Weren't you the biggest loser or something? I always find it funny when they give pity prizes." It was Kade, staring down at you like you were nothing. Rage flushed across Mawile's face, she was ready to rip this prick in two. "If you don't mind, I've got places to be, more competitions to win. If you're a fan I'm happy to give you an autograph and since you lost I'll make it cheaper than normal, $100. How's that sound?"

"If you don't mind, I've got places to be, more competitions to win. If you're a fan I'm happy to give you an autograph and since you lost I'll make it cheaper than normal, $100. How's that sound?"
Willa and Mawile strode purposefully forward, following Kade's boot prints in the mud... for as far as they could, anyway- the trail seemed to just stop out of nowhere at some point. "Maw?!" Mawile exclaimed, glancing around. Willa, too, looked around, but they didn't have long to look- Kade was clear across the river, calling out to Willa, asking why she was following them, calling her on being a loser, having hooked what was probably the puniest Magikarp to get entered in the competition, and voicing his amusement at the awarding of pity prizes.

"Mawwwwwww..." Mawile growled, gnashing her larger mouth's teeth.

"Spewwwwwp..." Spewpa hissed, likewise agitated.

Willa, however, retained her composure. One of the things she did best- with her mother being so prominently in the public eye, being both League Champion and a famous movie star, she grew up learning how to keep her cool in moments such as these. "Pity prize?" she repeated idly, her voice and face betraying no emotion. "Oh, this?" she added, indicating the Fishing Rod she still held. "Well, you say 'pity prize', it's more like an award for persevering against all odds, doing one's best, playing fair even with everything against you... nothing I'd expect you to understand," she added pointedly.

It was at this point Willa's Pokémon acted of their own accord, as though reading their Trainer's mind. In Lapras's case, that's exactly what she'd done, however, for the Transport Pokémon let herself back out, allowing Willa and Mawile to climb on her shell as she began to cross the river. Decidueye and Yanmega exited their balls as well, flying to Kade's location to block him, prevent him from getting away.

When Willa had spoken earlier, she was careful to not give anything away in her mannerisms, in how she spoke, not even in her facial expression. But now her eyes blazed with fury as she rode across the river. "You see, Kade," Willa said, her voice a most ominous level of calm. "Mother always taught me to handle losing with grace and dignity... Lessons I'm certain you could have benefited from yourself. Why, I'm even good with handling losing to some boastful, gloating showoff... provided, of course, said showoff won fair and square," she added ominously. "I think you see what I'm getting at here. You don't think I saw you when Lapras was fighting off that Sharpedo? Didn't think I'd catch that little bit at the end of your tasteless gloating victory speech absolutely nobody asked for? 'Down to the crunch'? And allow me to make something else perfectly and unmistakably clear," she added, her voice barely a whisper at this point and yet Kade would no doubt hear every syllable far more clearly than he'd want to. Ideally by this point she'd have gotten across the river and would be talking to Kade face to face now, with Yanmega, Decidueye, and Lapras helping to keep him surrounded. "You would have to pay me to take an autograph from you, and I can assure you 100 wouldn't be nearly enough. Now, then. If you think I'm about to let you cheat your way to victory in even more competitions, then you really are as stupid as you look. I don't. Like. Cheaters. Mawile here's been itching to rip apart the absolute filth responsible for all those cut fishing lines. You have exactly eleven seconds to convince me to call her off."

"Mawwwww," Mawile growled, doing her very best to Intimidate Kade. She wanted to rip him apart, but she'd wait for Willa's say-so. Besides, this way she'd get to watch him squirm first. And if he tried to find a way to escape anyway, Decidueye was all set to hold him in place with a Spirit Shackle.

Missingno. Master- "Wow, you're a real high strung bitch aren't you?" Kade snorted, how did he still find this funny. You'd think after a savage tear down like you'd just given him, he'd be close to pissing himself. Instead he seems even cockier than before. "You want to know why I laughed when you had to deal with that Sharpedo? Experience. I've encountered it before, you see when you've been in as many fishing competitions as I have, you get to know your competition. No tell me, do you remember that old hag that came 3rd? What if I told you that she is one of the most well known cheats in the fishing competition circle? Gertrude from Geosenge town was the name she went by this time, but she changes her name every season because eventually she gets caught cheating. I caught her using her Sharpedo last year in a competition in the Hoenn region, so she knew to steer clear of me this time. So while I guess I could have ratted her out again, I was confident that I'd win, so I didn't bother." Kade glares at your Pokemon, who were unsure whether they should still be staunching him. "If you don't believe me, I'd gladly show you the Pokemon I have on hand and kick your arse in the process. Otherwise, get your fucking Pokemon away from me."

Kade's hand whips his jacket back, revealing six lure balls on his belt. You could take Kade on his word or you could battle him and find out if he was in possession of a Sharpedo. Things were getting heated, it was likely best that you picked your next words wisely.....

Somehow, Kade's response wasn't what Willa was expecting. She was expecting, maybe even hoping, that he might break down, start crying, maybe even need a change of pants by this point. But his cockiness and rudeness stood strong as he insulted Willa, as he turned this around on that old woman who had come in third, accused her of being the cheater, explained his laughter as coming from prior experience with "Gertrude"'s cheating. Why didn't he rat her out this time? He was sure he'd win- nothing else concerned him. So whether he was the cheater or not, he was still an insufferable jerk.

Willa's expression did not change in the slightest. A likely story. Perfectly possible, of course, but then, that could very well be what Kade was counting on to throw Willa off. A line of thinking that would surely make her boyfriend's Pawniard quite proud. Willa was hardly one to take someone's word at face value in the best of circumstances, and this was pretty friggin' far from the best of circumstances. "You tell an interesting story," Willa responded. "But as of right now that's all it is to me- a story. Words are meaningless- you want me to believe you? Prove it. I'll even battle you if that's what you want, though if you ask me, forcing a battle into this only makes me think you have something to hide."

"Maw!" Mawile declared in agreement.

"Spewpa!" chimed in Spewpa, her fur bristling as she sat on Willa's shoulder.

"Yan ya!" rumbled Yanmega. Lapras and Decidueye likewise voiced their agreement, as well as their commitment to see through any battle that might ensue momentarily.

Willa folded her arms, fixing Kade with a piercing glare. "Convince me I was in the wrong and you'll have my apologies," she stated. "But if I was not only right but had to find it out the hard way, you will regret it." At this, Willa's Pokémon all gathered around her instead of surrounding Kade (Decidueye still prepared to trap him with Spirit Shackle if he merely took this as an opportunity to flee, of course). None of them were about to take this lightly if indeed a battle was about to unfold.

Missingno. Master- "Oh noooooooooo, I'll regret it? Let's get this straight, I'm battling you for my own amusement." While Kade had spun quite the story, you were still unsure if he was telling the truth. It was really had to tell, what with him being a complete arse and all. Nevertheless, a full battle would reveal all the Pokemon that Kade has on hand and if one of them was a Sharpedo? Well he would certainly appear to be guilty then. If he was concealing a Sharpedo, it would likely be the last Pokemon he uses, meaning you'd have to push him to that point. Decidueye watches closely as Kade hops over some rocks, crossing the river to stand on the opposite bank. The battle would take place across the river, leaving only the banks and the few large rocks jutting out of the river as solid ground. The water would definitely favour Kade, who you'd assume favours Pokemon found in the water due to the Lure Balls on his belt.

"Since you've revealed so many of your Pokemon already, I'll send out first", Kade grins, taking the first Lure Ball from his belt. "I can't say I've used this one for battling, but I always have him on hand when I'm competing. Kade whips the ball forward, releasing the pink Pokemon onto his side of the riverbank. The Slowpoke lets out a lazy yawn, looking around it seems to not care too much about what is going on. "You see it was thanks to Slowpoke that I won today. I used one of its old tails as bait, Magikarp go wild for them!" Kade had revealed his first Pokemon, he claimed it wasn't a regular battler, but you can't really trust what he says, can you?
