Probably the latter. I remember reading an article once about two sellers of the same item whose algorithms priced based on the prices of other sellers. The interaction created a rapidly escalating price (I think one would set to 95% of the highest and the other would set to 110% of the highest or something). Neither noticed until they were truly ridiculous. I'll see if I can dig up the article.

EDIT the first: Here it is.

Head’s up about a potentially dangerous runner in Dupont – Today (9/21) I was walking around 17 and S St. NW at 11 AM when I was assaulted by a jogger. A woman running quickly towards looked me in the face, said “head’s up”, then purposely body slammed me in the shoulder with a lot of force. I yelled loudly but she continued and was gone before we figured out what just happened. It was clearly intentional and she really hurt my shoulder. She was about 5’4″, Caucasian, athletic, mid-30s, with mid length brown hair. The whole experience was bizarre, but clearly an unprovoked assault on a stranger that she will probably repeat.”

My advice is to keep on the look out for this woman and be ready with a clothesline to knock her off her feet. Then follow up with an elbow drop, preferably off a car or something. Then choose any finishing move you like to incapacitate her until the you can make your escape up the aisle to the locker room. God Speed!

Yesterday, I saw some "MISSING DOG" posters and got a really nasty idea.

I'm thinking of posting this around my neighbourhood.

Well, I mean. At least 3 "Lost Cat" posters basically means "New Coyote in the neighborhood" anyway. Why not Lost Tiger?

Found the site amusing, but felt like I was missing context so I sent it to another British friend.

His reaction:
"Mate, what is this thing???"

Then he provided more info once I said he was UKIP:
"lol UKIP is the equivalent of the republicans - the far right conservative mainstream party (ie not facists like the BNP) but they are doing frighteningly well in the UK at the moment, and threatening to split the traditional conservative vote."

People kept watching all the way to Silph Co who weren't direct participants? I know my experience was 100% second hand through lore, comics, and illustrations after the terror that was The Ledge.

It is true, though, that many people emulate and stuff. But still.

Okay. Here's one that is very much on topic:

"I'm no doctor," writes the OP, "but I think it's a little too late to help Joseph." And then he posts this.

As seen on Imgur. Spoilers for an early story arc of Fullmetal Alchemist. (If you already know all about the Tuckers, then you're good to click.)

"Let's play the Japanese animal noise game!"

For context (and the uninitiated):
BORKED

I never realized how much I disliked the FMA English VA's (except Scar who has a pretty great VA)

You could have just provided it as a hyperlink, dude. Would've gotten the job done just as well without risk of generating casualties.

I've seen many photoshopped Countdown boards over the years, but sometimes truth proves stranger than fiction (if less vulgar ):

According to the article (click the picture), this wasn't just a legit Countdown Conundrum: the answer was the word "graspable". ^_^;

Paraphrased from Yahoo! Answers, similar to a Loki quote from long ago:

For some of you I'm sure this joke is older than dirt, but I can't recall ever seeing anyone crack this joke before about Jessie and James' Pokémon.

Spoiler: show
Does anyone have a reference regarding the pH of a pitcher plant's water? All I can seem to find are pH values for the soil which carnivorous plants prefer. Nothing I found offered a report on the pH of the plant's "gastric juice". I imagined it to be quite acidic (with a pH value of 3 or less) but I'm not sure if that's as necessary for the plant as it is for us.
