Cuphead cartoon coming
Um, wow? Not what I was expecting. DLC being delayed is fine. I feel pretty anxious about this one though, just because surpassing the game might be too high a bar for modern cartoon studios:

Did they say their goal was to surpass the game? Cause traditionally TV shows never surpass their game source material. The engagement and immersion between the two formats is completely different and it's pretty close to impossible for the show to exceed a game.
Condensing the game's plot into something enjoyable is usually fine. Netflix's Castelvania was an enjoyable first season, but to many avid Castelvania fans, they felt it was just a 'baby's intro to the game,' whereas most others felt like it was just an enjoyable show. If they do something as good as Castlevania, that would probably greatly exceed my expectations. |

Any updates about this series? I can't seem to find anything new about thi show. I'm very curious how well (or not) it will translate into a Netflix series. I'm kind of afraid knowing Netflix...

Wayne Brady was cast as King Dice, which is amazing. It's the same studio that did the Animaniacs and Mickey Mouse reboots which is to say, it's flash-style tweening animation that has good caps but looks poor in motion.

The Cuphead Show: 7/10
A lot of hubbub was made about this having subpar animation, motion tweens, inauthentic style etc. None of that was an issue! The art and animation were all top notch for a TV series, whereas the original game had closer to movie-quality animation. I wasn't dissatisfied with anything visually, or performance wise. My issue is that the stories were kind of...bland. The original Cuphead game was very dense with visual gags that is absent in the Show when it's not lifted from the games itself. The humour is often hit-or-miss as well. The Cuphead Show functions best as a plot-based adventure, rather than a comedy. It's weird. Also, the Devil is my favourite character. He's queer coded like a classic Disney villain, yet still pretty scary and threatening despite his incompetence. It helps that he successfully steals the souls of basically everyone but Cuphead, thus showing that he's not some loser. Also, he's legit funny. There's some scary imagery in this, which is why I think Studio MDHR says it's not aimed at kids. Overall, I think the show improved as the episodes went on. I'd...recommend it. I'm sorry to say I think an episode of Kim Possible is more engaging, but Cuphead's show is pretty fine and it's visually a treat.
