Cowboys & Aliens. Not a great movie, but entertaining. And to be honest, the comic source wasn't that great either.

Woman in Black.

Fresh feeling for a horror movie in the modern day when there aren't other horror movies like it, but bittersweet to the point that made me leave with a "*sigh* Fuck this movie". But still good.

Daniel Radcliffe totally looks like Jake Gyllenhaal.

Watched Hunger Games yesterday. I hadn't read the book, but, I heard it was almost dead on. It was a really good movie too. Perfect set-up for a sequel too: a resolute end, but an ominous wonder- what'll happen? No crappy cliffhangers or "overt set-ups." for that I'm glad.

I, too, saw The Hunger Games just now.

Holy fuck. That is all I have to say. Holy. Fuck.

Alright I lied. That was one of the most intense movies I've ever seen. I will now be picking up that, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay, and storming through them (yes, I will actually be... reading again! )

Question: had you ever seen Battle Royale or any of the many Battle Royale-inspired television series and films of the last decade before seeing this movie? I'm just curious to see to what extent your orgasmic experience is possibly due to this having been your first taste of the genre.

I'm well aware of Battle Royale, but have not read it or seen the movie. While a very similar concept but a lot more brutal, I'm not sure I'd be able to handle it. I cringed way too much in The Hunger Games as it was... not sure I'm ready for neck bracelets that blow heads off at failure and everyone using guns to fight.

As for The Hunger Games, I wouldn't call it "orgasmic", that's a bit of a stretch. To be honest, I'm more excited to see the direction the series takes in the stories following, since there's so much potential in the background in this post-apocalyptic Dystopian society (as overdone as it is).

If you want to go back even further though, The Most Dangerous Game is more my cup of coffee.

Saw Hunger Games on Friday, extremely impressed.

Currently reading the book and have blown through nearly 200 pages just today.

I feel like a bit of a bandwagoner, but this is a pretty fantastic series as it stands. I think I can get past my knee-jerk hipstering for this series.

I watched it last saturday. I'm currently finishing Mockingjay off... The movie was generally true to the book except for some parts they changed at the beginning.

Been a big Hunger Games fan for quite a while now, but I didn't re-read before the movie because I knew that I'd make constant comparisons. As far as I'm concerned, the differences that existed in the movie (cutting out some minor characters who while I like, won't be that missed, cutting out minor subplots, etc) were unimportant to the message of the series and the storytelling. Generally, I really liked the movie and did honestly well up a bit at that particular scene.

Jennifer Lawerence was actually a great Katniss, Josh was a lot better than I thought he'd be at Peeta, and the cast was pretty much spot on as a whole. Seeing it in the IMAX (which there are only three of in the UK, so it's kinda a rare thing for me) was awesome.

Also have seen a few films since the last time I posted. The Muppets was a very fun film and also very funny. It's just a shame that we, me and my fifteen year old friend, were the only ones laughing in a cinema filled with five to eight year olds. Ah well.

Woman in Black was fine. Nothing particularly special about it, gave me a few shocks but it was just an okay movie. Nice to see Dan acting well, though.

That's unusual. Here, the general audience was comprised of teens. To whom it was originally intended.

Finally watched All-Star Superman yesterday. it was a good animated movie. i have only glanced thru the trade paperback that it is based off of but i noticed some parts of the storyline were cut out but even so the story still flowed good. Now looking forward to Justice League: Doom

Saw 21 Jump Street last night. It was absolutely awesome, laughed during the entire movie (and so did everyone else in the audience).

i havent seen the movie yet but read the first book a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Just finished Catching Fire today and was blown away by how good it was. Now need to read Mockingjay.

Also watched Bram Stoker's Dracula today. Wow it was weird seeing Gary Oldman as Dracula again when now i see him i think Comissioner Gordon.

The Boy In the Striped Pajamas. Wonderful movie all-around, and I was not expecting the ending when I first sat down to watch the movie.

Cabin in the Woods was fantastic and awesome and just SO Joss Whedon and I loved it so much.

The Avengers was fantastic and awesome and though it was slightly less Joss Whedon, it was still so so so good.

Go, watch these films. Now.

Oh yeah, not too long ago I saw J. Edgar. Really a fantastic movie overall. But what really stood out to me was the makeup. When older, you could hardly tell the actors were Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer it was so good.

Agreed with Handy on Cabin in the Woods. Been a long time since I've seen a horror film that was actually scary and not just torture-porn. IF you want an intelligent, funny, and above all scary film that keeps you on your toes then I highly recommend it.

Another film that was a pleasant surprise was 21 Jump Street. I swear I thought I was going to get a headache from how much I was laughing. Can't remember the last time I heard a cinema audience laugh that much either. If you need a good giggle then go see it (though it's probably out of cinemas by now).

Really? My parents saw it and they said the makeup when they were older was absolutely horrible.

I just watched the 1986 animated film They Were Eleven, a science fiction mystery based on the comic. It was good. Not great, but still good. The mystery elements are kind of lacking and a lot of the characters are only there for visual diversity's sake, but it was still fun to watch. If you're looking for something to watch, check it out on YouTube.

Just a matter of opinion, I guess. I thought the makeup on DiCaprio and Hammer were both great, while my mom liked DiCaprio's and not Hammer's, and my stepdad liked Hammer's, but not DiCaprio's. So I guess it's pretty hit or miss on whether you'd like it or not.
