Fizzy Power Co. Raid Battle 5: VS Pincurchin
Dynamax Boss Pincurchin ★★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: N/A Terrain: Electric Raid Challengers:
Raiders flocked to take on this gigantic sea urchin at stunning speed, the usual accompanying Pokemon that either resist or were outright immune to the Electric type taking the field. The Pincurchin didn't seem to bothered by this, though, as the entire battlefield quickly became covered by an Electric Terrain. Dynamax energy surged into Amicae's band, signaling the start of the fight. Dynamax Initiative: Median Dia, Sandygast.

Blizzard! (110 BP, chance to Freeze) Boosted by Normalize, STAB, and Silk Scarf
- - - - Curtis grit his teeth as he stared down his latest challenge: a giant Pincurchin, the 'Sea Urchin' Pokemon, a blob with electric spikes all over it. As soon as he got the alert he had looked up it's stats and Pincurchins have a wide array of Electric, Poison, and even Water type moves. While those Water moves meant he couldn't bring Annahime, the Electric and Poison status moves meant that this was the perfect chance to try out the other Pokemon he'd been training up for this Raid Battles. That Pokemon being one certain mischievous Delcatty named Toby. They had been... interesting to train and by interesting he meant a pain in the butt. If they weren't sleeping somewhere random, they were causing trouble, or worse- causing trouble with Finnegan. Still, he had gotten the lazy gremlin to regularly participate in the morning training sessions by getting him and Finnegan involved via the use of Poke Toys and treats. In the end, Toby was battle-ready with two new Moves under his belt and knew how to use them: Blizzard, courtesy of a TR, and Heal Bell, also courtesy of the Move Tutor. (He'd seriously have to look up how the Move Tutor manages to handle teaching several different Pokemon new Moves at once at a later date. He also had a sinking feeling that teaching the cat how to freeze things might come back to bite him at some point.) Nonetheless, it was time for Toby's debut! Hopefully the cat wouldn't forget the briefing that he'd been given. "Toby, come on out! It's time to get this show on the road!" As Toby appeared he saw the giant pin-cushion and immediately his tail started flicking back and forth as he crouched down. He ran forward, but it was a false-start as he then backed up a bit as he made pawing motions in the air- the cat wanting to play with the giant ball of spikes but not sure how. Curtis snapped his fingers to get the Delcatty's attention, "Toby, hit that spike-ball with a Blizzard! Blow it over!" Toby for his part, let out a yowl of excitement as his eyes glowed- sending strangely non-icy icy winds (courtesy of the mysterious Normalize ability) to batter at the giant Pokemon.

Dynamax Boss Pincurchin ★★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: N/A Terrain: Electric Raiders: Toxic Spikes Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Guard (0 BP) Pincurchin is protected from all attacks!Attack 2: Toxic Spikes (0 BP) Poison spikes were scattered around the raiders!Attack 3: Muddy Water (90 BP) Sandaa, Lanturn: 331 HPRaid Challengers:
The Raiders prepare their initial volley, a nice mix of damage and status for the boss to deal with. But Pincurchin deals with it most immediately, setting up a Max Guard that soaks up the entirety of the blows. Further setting up for the battle before the raiders can actually do anything Toxic Spikes are set at the feet of the raiding party, meaning any Pokemon that recovers from fainting will have poison to greet them on their return. Lastly, a wave of Muddy Water washes over the raiders, giving Pincurchin the honor of being the first to actually deal damage this raid. Dynamax Initiative: Sandaa, Lanturn.

I kind of only have two moves worth using right now, so...
Blizzard! (110 BP, chance to Freeze) Boosted by Normalize, STAB, and Silk Scarf - - - - - Curtis gaped as he saw a Max Guard go up and block everyone's attacks. "Com'on, seriously!" Then to his dismay it laid down a field of Toxic Spikes before summoning up a wave of Muddy Water to crash into the raiders. "What the-? You've got to be kidding me!" This was just ridiculous! "Hey!" he shouted angrily, "who the hell keeps teaching these Dynamax Pokemon competitive strats!? Are people just releasing their trained Pokemon into the wild or something?!" Max Guard? Seriously, Max Guard!?! What kind of supposedly wild Pokemon opens up with that? He swears he could feel the smugness coming off of the pin cushion from here. He could just (badly) imagine what was going through it's brain: Oooh, I'm just gonna sit here and look all cute and MESS UP YOUR PLANS! #LOL! #REKT!!! If this raid boss wants to be such an asshole, then it was up to him and everyone else to just smash it into submission! "Gah!" Curtis snapped in frustration. He pointed a finger at the Pincurchin and yelled, "Toby, go in for another Blizzard and don't let up, give it the nastiest Blizzard you've got! We'll get this thing yet!" Toby wasn't sure why Curtis was so upset, but okay! Another Blizzard coming right up! The training Curtis put in before this battle paid off as Toby seamlessly let lose with the same move again- even throwing in a mock-roar for fun as his eyes glowed once more, summoning another strange icy flurry. "Delcattyyy!" Then the cat Pokemon showed off how seriously he was taking all this by immediately getting to the business of shaking and licking off all the icky grime from that Muddy Water attack- completely ignoring the fact that he was still currently in a battle.

Pfft. What a coward. If Max Guard was such a great idea, then why isn't every Raid Boss using it?

Dynamax Boss Pincurchin ★★★★ Health Gauge: 81% Shields Up: 0 Status: Atk +1, Sp.Atk -2, Infestation (3-4 Rounds) Terrain: Electric Raiders: Toxic Spikes Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Knuckle (100 BP) Zorchic, Palpitoad: 200 HPAttack 2: Payback (50 BP) Median Dia, Sandygast: 235 HPAttack 3: Surf (90 BP) EpicSquirtle, Chinchou: 246 HPRaid Challengers:
Upset about last round's lack of damage, the raiders loose a volley of high powered blows to damage the boss. An Eerie Impulse lowers Pincurchin's Special Attack, but the Scorching Sands isn't lucky enough to leave a burn this time around. Infestation leaves the boss surrounded by bugs, meaning damage will be dealt at the end of each round. With its Special Attack lowered, the boss looses a Max Knuckle, raising its Attack while dealing a pretty strong blow. A Payback follows, boosted by the boss moving last, dealing super effective damage to the Sandygast. Finally another spread attack, this time a Surf, washes over the raiders, though luckily two of those struck resist the attack. Dynamax Initiative: ChrisClark13, Delcatty.

Ouchy, ouchy! That was a rough round for me for very different reasons from the last one! Didn't even win my RNG roll, either, so I guess it's time for another Scorching Sands (70) attempt.

Being a one trick kitty continues
Blizzard (110 BP, chance to Freeze) Boosted by Normalize, STAB, and Silk Scarf - - - - Curtis watched, dumbfounded, as Toby was too busy cleaning himself that the Delcatty didn't even notice the Dynamax-sized wave coming towards everyone. Curtis simply took a few steps back and avoided the wave, leaving his dumb ass cat to fend for himself in the splash zone. Toby went rolling across the ground, taking a few bad hits. Though by how the Delcatty was acting they seemed just fine: just standing back up and vigorously shaking off the water. Well, at least they had gotten the mud from the Muddy Water off them now. If Curtis didn't know better, he'd say that Toby actually wanted to get hit by the Surf. Also, was- was his fur sparkling now? What? What? The Skitty's line Normalize Ability already defied explanation and now perfectly clean and pristine fur after getting rinsed off by an enemy's Water-type attack?? The ongoing sounds of battle snapped the strange cat's Trainer out of his momentary befuddlement. Oh, right. There's a Dynamax Raid going on. Curtis rubbed his head and sighed. Yep, back to the fight. "Uh, Toby," he groaned, "another Blizzard attack if you would." So far, things were going... decently. Sure, he could've Dynamaxed instead- but Toby knows hardly any moves. Seriously, what kind of plan was 'just show up and play a support role' anyways? Especially when your Pokemon's move pool is really more of a 'move puddle'? No real chance to be shot calling, just a simple A-B test. Someone got a status? Remove it! Otherwise, Blizzard spam! At least Toby seemed to be having fun. The cat currently spinning round and round to kick up the winds of his Blizzard attack before sending it spiraling off at the giant Pincurchin.
