Silver Spoon S2, Magi S2 (if I should circle back around to Fall 2013), Hamatora, Noragami, ... there were a few series I wanted to check out. Silver Spoon's a definite, even if I wasn't super stoked by S1. It's still a neat-o premise and I'd like to see what Hachiken is up to in the second season.

Kidding, you can watch whatever you want to. XP I really don't think you'll care for Hamatora though, and Silver Spoon/Noragami aren't that memorable. Magi S2 was cute but not groundbreaking or anything.

One more new show.
Mangaka-san to Assistant-san I figured I would watch this because it's one of the few shows that doesn't fully scream to me "DON'T WATCH!". No real expectations were found, but after seeing the art, I just saw the potential this show has. Mangaka-san has to have been created by Hiroyuki! That art and that humor scream Hiroyuki. He's one of my favorite doujin artists, so even if it ends up sucking, I'll stick with this show. What did I think about the first episode? It had its ups and downs. It doesn't have the creativity I see from his Type-MOON doujins, but it did have some funny moments. Hopefully there'll be more to this show than the main guy screaming "PANTIES!" repeatedly. If not, then cat lover Shiki will be ashamed! |

Read the manga, and it was decent. I don't really remember a lot, which may be a bad omen, but it was interesting enough to keep me reading until the end xfd It can get weird sometimes, especially with the guy's obsession with panties, but it definitely isn't bad.

Two more fucking shows!
No Game No Life This show is like....SAO meets Fukumoto....kinda. We have the stuck in a game thing, and we have the gambling hijinks. I actually quite enjoyed the first episode of this. The main two characters have warped personalities, but mesh pretty well together. Though in this case, they're not really "trapped" in said world, since they don't mind being there. This show has potential, and it's my favorite of the season so far. Let's hope it doesn't go Noragami on me. Black Bullet Stupid action show....pass! Blah blah blah humanity is fighting crazy zombie bugs that infect people, and magical lolis are the only ones who can kill them. I'll watch for a couple of episodes, but I'll probably drop this soon. Also that Puchim@s episode 7! So stupidly cute! |

I actually dropped this show entirely because of the little sister character. I could not stand her for longer than halfway through the episode, and then I skipped ahead to see if anything interesting at all had happened. Nope. So dropped. Black Bullet I'll admit, this show has more than enough in common with Attack on Titan: Kaji Yuki as the male lead who's lost his parents and has a "sister" he takes care of, giant creatures trying to destroy humanity, humans hiding from the creatures behind monoliths just so they wouldn't have to make a show about a wall again, only Weapon X works against these huge creatures and their regenerative powers, (Titan spoiler-ish if anyone cares, shown in the anime too) Spoiler: show geez this show is Attack on Titan set in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Oddly enough, I like it. I think I can handle watching this. And who doesn't like insane female doctors with a sadist streak?

Oh lord when will the fucking shows end?!
Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka Another loli stuffed SoL in a foreign land/about foreigners. Not much to say. Besides the manly talking puff ball, it was pretty boring. Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin Another A-1 original anime, eh? It started off with one of the lamest, dumbest openings I have seen in a long time, so I was already wary. I already dropped it. The show just seemed pointless and stupid. The main guy reacts to everything in typical harem protagonist manner, and the characters act in typical harem fashion. I was annoyed the entire time I watched the show. Hitsugi no Chaika Huh...I admit I'm a bit interested in what's going on. It'll probably end up being dumb, but I'll stick with this show. It's not great, but it grabbed my attention at the very least. Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san Z So I decided to watch the second season of this. Sadly it seems the show went to shit in season 2. It's supposed to be a damn comedy, but it's loaded in bullshit drama, and they try to play it off by using generic gags in the drama. When it's not doing that, they start pulling hyperactive shit, making the VAs scream their jokes quickly, and more often than not, explaining why it's supposed to be "funny" in the middle. They also mostly did away with the cruel humor the first season did, which was why it was so awesome in the first place. The show turned into slapstick hyperactive nonsense. It still had its funny moments. Sadly there were like, 3 good episodes? The second season of Azazel-san gets a 5 from me. |

Is it just me, or are NEET doutei harems on the uptick lately?
I dunno, it feels like I've seen a bunch lately. The latest is No Game, No Life, which BBB saw earlier. I read a review of a guy who called it pretentious. So did I, but it was also hilarious. It has a lot of potential! I think I'll pick this thing up.

I'm a bit behind, but I have two things to jabber about.
Atelier Escha & Logy I decided to watch this, since I'm currently playing the game. Though after playing the game, and seeing how little actually happens, I'm kind of fearful that this show will be drop-dead boring. The first episode did the basic introduction, and the first part of Escha's route. It seems the parts that require gameplay will be covered in the form of a monologue. Like if they need to go gathering, we'll get a short monologue about it, rather than go over their gathering adventures. I also would have preferred them to go the Logy route, since he's more interesting than Escha, but I guess they can't expect to sell anything unless they flaunt all the female characters on everything. I can't say I have any complaints, other than the fact that this anime is covering the most boring Atelier game I've played. Next week seems to be about the Atelier Ayesha crew....which would mean nothing to people who haven't played Atelier Ayesha. Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou This show is really getting on my damn nerves. So far it's your example of a masochistic Japanese guy's dream of getting beat on constantly. Yup, we have "misunderstandings" galore, along with the same beatings and humor you see in Love Hina! The rest of the show is just milking moe moments out of the main girl. Well that and the main guy flipping the fuck out about panties (he saw a pair in the hallway, and starting going on about it for about 2-3 minutes). I should have dropped it, but I kept with it! Let's see how long my patience will hold me. |

The Top 10 most viewed animated television series in Japan the week of March 3 thru 9. While I'm not the least bit surprised to see Sazae-san topping the charts or to see it accompanied by the likes of Doraemon, Crayon Shin-chan, and Detective Conan, I think it's worth noting that none of the animes we watched this past (Winter 2014) season made the cutoff for Top 10 ...
... except for two. The token PreCure series, placing 7th ... and Uchuu Kyoudai, placing 8th. :o Just goes to show how popular Uchuu Kyoudai is with general audiences in Japan. I can't say I'm too surprised. The space program is romantic and captivating like nothing else, and Uchuu Kyoudai presents a particularly "GLORIOUS NIPPON!" national pride spin on things that is probably irresistible. But yeah. Man. Naruto, didn't make the cut. Pokémon, (Note that the following week, Pokémon made the Top 10, placing 9th, with a viewership rating of 5.7 versus Uchuu Kyoudai's previous rating of 5.2. But I guess note also that apparently 10% of households tuned in to watch the 2012 Uchuu Kyoudai live-action film.)

Well, that's something. I guess given the length one would have suspected Uchuu Kyoudai would have some popularity...but to go head to head against the TV staples, that's a bit of a surprise.
Incidentally, Doraemon is ending this year, so I wonder what show will fill its cavernous shoes?

>Naruto still won't die >Dragon Ball was just reanimated as a zombie I find something very weird about this.

Naruto is ending. The manga has been stuck in "THE FINAL SHOWDOWN" for the past year, year and a half or so. It's taking the author a long time to get through everything but all signs point to this being the final part of the story, not the second to last or third to last or whatever. IIRC, the anime is itself in the middle of this story arc right now, so both the anime and the manga can be expected to wrap up probably before 2016, possibly even before 2015.
Doraemon I thought had ended years ago. Like, 1980s / 1990s years ago. I thought it was just airing nothing but re-runs at this point. Hard to believe that it's still been going uninterrupted all this time. Judging from Wikipedia, it's had three series to date and the second of these three series, the one which aired from 1979 to 2005, is the one that I think most people think of when they think of Doraemon. The third series might have been a reboot, I don't know, but it began airing in 2005 regardless, hot off the heels of the second one's ending. It looks like that is the one that Doppel is saying is ending. Perhaps they'll just air reruns of the '79 and '05 Doraemons from now on. Or perhaps there are plans for a fourth series to begin airing in the near future. No idea. Dragon Ball Kai wasn't exactly "just" reanimated ... it began airing April 5, 2009, meaning this past April 5 was its five-year anniversary. ^^;

A movie was announced a few months ago featuring the original Doraemon cast as a way to bid adieu to the franchise as a whole. It'll enter "meta" status like Dragonball Z where merchandise, re-releases and the odd movie happens, but the series proper will finally end.
Both Naruto and Bleach are supposed to be in end-game, but Jump doesn't want them to go. They're the only stability that manga has aside from One Piece. There are immense, deeply rooted fears that once those two manga end Jump won't be able to sustain its circulation and will have to scale back. Once it scales back...it can only shrink and not expand anymore.

Watched Madoka: Rebellion Story -
All I have to say is... I'm not sure how to feel at how blatantly open they left the ending for one more sequel. We were led to believe this movie was going to wrap up the story, but, in aspects of actual plot, Rebellion Story was more in line with "The Empire Strikes Back" than "The Return of the Jedi" in terms of finality. And you just can't end Star Wars with Episode 6 (though I'd wager some would argue that you can). For a more spoilery take, and also a summary: Spoiler: show

I gave Rebellion a fairly negative review after I first saw it in the theatre, but I also said that I couldn't see shit because I had to sit in the very front row. I watched it again and liked it a lot better the second time around. It really does have some extremely impressive visuals and some errr, interesting developments.
I stand by my criticism of the confusing plot, questionable characterization, yuri pandering and totally crappy new character, but it's still worth seeing. If Madoka TV is 9/10 then Rebellion is still 7/10.

Loaded up the mega evolution special. Only a few seconds in, see this. Please note that Mega Gyarados and Mega Abomasnow are approximately the same distance from us. Holy shit Mega Abomasnow is huge. Is this an animation error? Or do they really intend for Mega Abomasnow to be easily four times the size of his non-mega counterpart? Good lord.
