Carbink Incognito Isle: Maiden Voyage - The Pokémon Only Treasure Hunt

Incognito Isle

In one of the many Pokémon Centers throughout Fizzytopia, you come across a pamphlet. The cover prominently features a luxury cruise ship sailing past a volcanic island that dominates the background. The pamphlet describes a decadent two-day, Pokémon-free cruise, perfect for a weary trainer like yourself, with luxuriant amenities and fun diversions. However, it seems to dedicate a even more space to what it calls a "mysterious adventure for your Pokémon!" It reads:

"An isolated little island far off the coast of the Fizzytopia mainland, the Incognito Isle was long unknown to humans. This untouched land became a paradise for Pokémon, sitting on a volcanic hotspot, providing a rich environment for life on its south side, but also battered by harsh weather to the north that draws Pokémon more used to extreme environments. The island is said to be filled with strange and mysterious treasures, but the Fizzytopian government has declared it a nature preserve, not allowing a single human step foot on its shores. They have, however, allowed for trainers to let their Pokémon explore the island and interact with its native population in order to uncover some of the treasures within.

Our ships run from Fizzytopia on a regular basis, making the trip out to the island and stopping at each of the four docks at each cardinal point of the island, before taking the trainers on a two-day tropical cruise. Trainers who wish to let their Pokémon have a little fresh air and freedom can drop off up to three Pokémon at one dock and allow them to venture out and explore until they return. Each Pokémon is given an Adventure Badge, allowing their trainer and Preserve Staff (stationed offshore on a ship that patrols the area) to keep an eye on them and make sure nothing bad becomes of them. Your team will also be given a special Treasure Bag, allowing them to handle and store any treasure they might come across safely to return back to you (and to prevent any surprise evolutions)! The Pokémon who inhabit the island are rather friendly, and if your Pokémon give them a helping hand or accompany them on a little adventure, they might be rewarded with a fun prize or stumble upon something rare!"

Below, you find a list of areas enumerated by the pamphlet for your Pokémon's exploration...

Vivacious Village - A happy hamlet built by native Pokémon, consisting mostly of clay and thatch huts, lying just north of the southern dock. These huts dot the southern foothills of the mountain peak in the middle of the island. Normal-typed Pokémon favor dwelling in the hills, while Pokémon living in center of the village closer to the dock tend are a bit rougher. The village square doubles as a sort of an arena for local Fighting Pokémon to engage in sparring matches or training. Please use sandybrown.

Bubbling Beach - On the coast between the southern and western dock is a sunny beach with pristine white sands and crashing waves - ideal for a summery vacation! But, this beach has more than just sun and fun; it's the ideal relaxation spot. Just beyond the dunes are a number of volcanic hot springs that overlook the sparkling seas. Despite their rather opposed nature, both Water and Fire Pokémon gather here to take full advantage of the mineral-rich (and slightly salty) springs. Some hotter Pokémon even enjoy the pools of bubbling magma interspersed with the watery ones! Please use deepskyblue.

Radiant Rainforest - Nestled in between the southern and eastern docks is a lush jungle, filled with tall trees, fanning ferns, verdant vines and rambling routes between them. Grass and Bug Pokémon live in harmony in the canopy and brush alike. The climate is a bit humid but never too hot, and a constant rain falls over the forest, but the sun will shine through, casting rainbows over the foliage at nearly every moment! Please use mediumspringgreen.

Withering Woods - Sitting just past where the island's volcanic rain shadow catches the clouds between the north and east docks is a temperate forest with towering trees atop jagged and uneven ground. Much drier (and darker) than its cousin to the south, this forest is a bit more mysterious. The plants here seem a bit more sinister, with some exotic species of flowers that ooze venomous sap tangled among the trunks. It tends to attract shadier types, particularly Poison and Dark Pokémon, who rather favor its shadowy nooks and toxic vegetation. Please use forestgreen.

Dancing Desert - A windy desert exists behind the volcano's rain shadow between the western and northern docks, running from the beach up to the base of the mountain. This desert gets its name from the shifting dunes that appear to dance in the winds and shift around the complicated, weathered rock formations that dot the area. Rock- and Ground-types favor this part of the island, enjoying the bright sun and dry climate, as well as the various crannies carved into the rock faces by the wind. Please use papaywhip.

Gale Gorge - A deep gorge is sliced into the side of the island just beyond the eastern dock, dropping dramatically from the side of the volcano in the center of the island. The faces of the gorge are steep and dramatic, but natural paths have been carved out by the winds that blow constantly down the center of the gorge. Flying Pokémon have made this gorge their home, perched on the outcroppings littering the walls. It's even said that some Dragon Pokémon occasionally visit these parts, at home in the stark but homey environs. Please use firebrick.

Frosty Fjord - Surrounding the western docks are tall cliffs that dip into the seas below. Due to the largely leeward positioning of these cliffs and the winds the long shadows they cast over the seas below, the area is a good bit colder than the rest of the island, but just cold enough to accommodate the average Ice-type without making most Pokémon too uncomfortable. Some claim these fjords to be haunted by the souls of those who have crashed against their rocky faces, and while these claims are unsubstantiated for the most part, Ghost Pokémon do seem to be attracted to the area, particularly to the occasional abandoned shipwrecks that can be found deep within the fjords... Please use azure.

Craggy Crater - A strange crater has been punched into the southern side of the mountain, possibly by some unknown impact in times immemorial. Whatever caused it left behind a great deal of iron, much of which is at least a little bit magnetized, and a lot of it in large, spiky chunks. The crater appears to be almost a sculpture gallery with the strange forms the iron formations take, some of which are occasionally altered by the iron-hungry Steel Pokémon that roam about. The minor electrical field caused by all the magnetism also attracts quite a few electric types, who enjoy the open, though somewhat harsh landscape that catches tropical thunderstorms from time to time. Please use cadetblue.

Starlight Summit - A path that cuts across the island from north to south leads up to the mountain's peak. The volcano, no longer active, has left a small indent at the apex, creating a shelter from the rest of the island and the clouds that hang over the other parts that is perfect for watching the stars. An almost cosmic energy seems to flood this place, attracting Psychic- and Fairy-type Pokémon who are naturally drawn to the influence of the stars. Please use gold.

Rules and Regulations

For Adventurers
⁂ You may send between one and three Pokémon into the zone - no trainers! It is recommended to send at least two!
⁂ You may have only one adventure at a time, though there will be no limit on the frequency with which you may adventure in this zone for the time being.
⁂ As adventures only last two days (and one night), your Pokémon will only have time to adventure to up to two areas per adventure, so choose wisely! You can gather items from both if you wish.
⁂ You can leave the isle with 3-5 items (or less) - feel free to refuse anything you don't want.
⁂ It's best to not explicitly state what you're after, but bringing a Pokémon along that benefits from a certain item (and going to the area where it is found) is a good way to signal your intent!

For Updaters
⁂ This is a Free-For-All Zone, meaning anyone can update anyone and it will not count towards your adventure limit!
Adventures should be relatively short in length, and proportional to the reward given or sought. Evolution items might require a little more investment than just a regular adventure, for example, but feel free to take someone on a bit of a longer romp if they're not there for anything in particular.
Adventures should be rewarded with 3-5 items. Evolution items might be accompanied by two other goodies, while a more general adventure might collect five trinkets. It's up to you what exactly you reward, though, but please try to make it fairly proportional.
You can choose the items, but consider the Pokémon they bring! While you're not obligated to give out any particular items, if they bring a Pokémon that evolves via a Moon Stone and go to Starlight Summit, it might make sense to give them a Moon Stone.

"Woo-hoo!" cheered the first of the trio off the ship. "Starlight Summit, here we come!"

The Pokémon to exclaim such things, this self-proclaimed leader of this improvised exploration team, was, by all appearances, a sentient single serving of cotton candy. While he possessed feet, they were currently concealed by his fluffy, sticky fur as he hovered a little ways off the ground, only his tail protruding as he did so. Cotton the Swirlix was hyped up for the exploration to come.

"Why do you get to be the leader?" demanded one of the two Pokémon coming up behind him. Indeed, Chromium the Smeargle was looking rather disgruntled that one so perfect as herself wasn't immediately the first choice for leading this expedition.

"Why not?" shrugged Cotton (well, he would've shrugged, had he any shoulders to shrug). "Besides, the Adventure Bag fits me best- look, look, it sticks right to my fur!"

"Yecch," remarked Chromium. "At least I could wear it without having to get it stuck on me."

"Oh, lighten up," chuckled the Swirlix. "If you don't like it, you didn't have to come along."

"Yeah, well, the Starlight Summit's supposed to have an incredible view," retorted the haughty Smeargle. "Such a stunning, secluded summit would surely be able to inspire my next masterpiece."

Before Cotton could respond to this, however, both the Swirlix and the Smeargle felt an oddly calming sensation. They turned to look- indeed, the third member of this little team had caught up. Tinnitus the Tympole, silent as ever, though in terms of the soundwaves he could generate by vibrating his cheeks, he was a regular chatterbox. Curiously, his soundwaves tended to reflect his current mood, and right now, both present teammates could tell that the Water-type was not only feeling calm and serene, but was also suggesting that the two of them could do with following his example.

Cotton grinned. "Right as always, Tinnitus," he said. "No sense in arguing when we're somewhere so awesome, yeah? C'mon, then- let's get going!" he exclaimed, leading the way onward. Chromium rolled her eyes, but as she somewhat grudgingly conceded that Tinnitus may have a valid point, she did nothing to further the argument. Tinnitus brought up the rear, flopping along as best he could. Someday he'd have legs, and land travel would come more easily to him. But it was all the same to Tinnitus- he wasn't in a hurry. His intent was to take his time and enjoy the journey, leave the worrying about the destination up to the self-appointed leader.

The three Pokemon disembarked from the vessel on the southern side of the island, intent of spending some time searching around the Craggy Crater. A Scyther leads the way, closely followed by a Mudbray and a Sentret. The three of them look around, unsure where to go, not used to being without their trainers instructions.

"Listen here ladies, Jayson left me in charge so that means you follow my orders, understood? This is both for your safety and so we can achieve our objective in the allotted time period." The Scyther immediately took charge, intent on controlling his companions with an iron scythe.

The Mudbray lets out a high pitched whinny, somewhat displeased with the Scyther's tone. "We are both well aware that you are in charge Spartacus, but that doesn't mean you treat us like lesser Pokemon. Khutulun and myself were sent because we both possess skills necessary for our success, treat us right or you're on your own."

"Well said Boudicca", Khutulun the Sentret chimes in after waiting her turn to speak. "Let's not argue too long though, Jayson will be disappointed if we come back empty handed."

Spartacus nods, "sorry if I came across a little rude, I am still getting used to my role, we all are." The leader looked at his team mates. Boudicca had the bag they were given strapped to her back, fulfilling part of her role. She would also be helpful if they came across any obstacles that had to be cleared. Khutulun was quick and agile, she would have no problems scouting ahead or searching for items. His own role was partly personal, although he held an aerial advantage that they could put to good use. He was also their best chance if they ran into any hostiles, although they would prefer a diplomatic approach without the aid of their trainer.

They had to get started, although where they should start was a mystery to all of them. "Alright team, into formation", commanded Spartacus. Boudicca started forward, trotting at a steady pace. Khutulun broke off to the right, weaving through the stones and iron deposits in her path, occasionally rising up onto her tail to check the path ahead. Spartacus's wings begin to beat with ferocity as he takes to the air, splintering off to the right. As they fanned out and began their search, Spartacus began to hope they would find what they were looking for.

Dreamer | Sebastian | Peaches

The most recently arrived batch of adventurous Pokémon made their way along the docks to disperse throughout the area, each one filled with the anticipation of new discoveries and friendships to be made. In the end, only a trio of stragglers remained. Two were looking around, taking in the sights as best they could from their current location. The third, however, was staring at the ship as it disappeared into the distance.

"Come back," the Espeon wailed. "Don't leave me here like this."

The Mudkip frowned. "I feel somewhat offended, I think."

Meanwhile, the Pichu flopped down on her belly, straining her stubby arms in an effort to put her paws into the ocean water. She wriggled further and further, gradually placing more of her body over the edge of the dock, until-

Dreamer grabbed the Pichu by the scruff of her neck, hauling her back up onto her feet an instant before the tiny mouse went tumbling into the waves below. Edging back only a couple of inches, Dreamer gave Peaches a stern glare.

"This is exactly the sort of thing I was afraid of," she huffed. "You can't get all wounded by me not wanting to be here with you two when this one is already this close to drifting out to sea."

"It wasn't my fault," replied Sebastian calmly. "Besides, she's just a child. She wants to play. If you would stop being so petulant-"

"Me? This wasn't my idea! Why would ABL possibly think it would be beneficial to send us out here... probably only to die of exposure, or starvation..."

Sebastian suppressed the urge to roll his eyes. "You know we're here to foster team-building. And collect some useful items, ideally. Now could we please get moving?"

Dreamer heaved a deep, stage-worthy sigh. "I suppose," she said, still looking miserable.

Gently, Sebastian nudged Peaches to get her walking in the right direction. They made their way down through the sands of Bubbling Beach, where other travellers were relaxing and soaking up the pleasant atmosphere. Peaches saw a couple of Seel batting a beach ball between themselves and giggled with delight. This was her first big trip out with the older Pokémon and everything looked like it could lead to a great game! Fortunately, Sebastian kept an eye on the Pichu as they made their way along the beach, making sure she didn't stray too far.

Onlookers wouldn't have expected it from the heavy way the Espeon trudged along, but the feline was able to make a very graceful leap to the top of a rocky ridge. From her new vantage point, she surveyed the team's surroundings, her whiskers twitching. She sniffed.

"Still doesn't look like much," she muttered. "None of us can very well splash around in lava, and those hot springs are about the only thing that could be worse than that." She shuddered at the idea of getting her luxurious coat wet. "There's nothing to do here."

Shoftly after Jess returned from her venture to the Springtide Isle (and a brief trip to the newly renovated Global Trade Station), Jess stopped by the Pokémon Center to give her new teammate a quick check-up. After Nurse Joy determined the hatchling was indeed healthy and hearty, Jess thanked her and was about to leave the lobby when another flyer caught her eye. Picking up the pamphlet, she flipped through to find tell of another island invitation, this time to an exotic land long untouched by humans. Only Pokémon were permitted to set foot on its paradise shores, declared a nature preserve and heavily protected by the new Fizzytopian government.

What drew Jessica's attention though was the image on the brochure's cover, of a luxury liner sailing bold before the island, which spewed forth a cloud of volcanic ash (despite mild signs of activity, it was assured that danger hadn't erupted in eons, and that safeguard measures were in place for rapid evacuation if necessary), mixing with the trails of steam billowing behind the boat in the background. According to the advertisement, while Pokémon could be granted two-day access for a visit, trainers were taken on a comfortable cruise to relax and mingle in the meantime. Despite her distrust of man-made maritime vessels, Jess reflected on the fond memory of meeting a kindred spirit who shared her love of Corsola aboard one such craft, and a wistful sigh escaped her lips. Perhaps it would be nice to take a bit of a break...

Pocketing the promotion, she headed back to her Base to introduce Zoom to her new family, as well as show them the bulletin to see if any were interested. Kief's ears immediately perked up at the mention of the excursion's main attraction: Treasure. Upon seeing the Zigzagoon bound up and bark eagerly in excitement, a keen gleam glinted in Minchi's own eye as she pulled Kanna aside.

"This is your chance, Kan! You should totes go with him!"

"Wh- wha? Just the two of us?"

"Of course! Think about it: It's the perfect opportunity! The two of you, all alone on a deserted tropical island... It's the stuff romance novels are made out of!"

"Eh- ehhhh?! I- I wasn't thinking of anything like that... And besides the island isn't deserted..."

She mumbled the last part lamely, although Minchi wasn't listening. Instead she clapped her Furret friend on the shoulders, who was blushing more and more furiously by the minute.

"It'll be like that movie we saw the other day! I bet once you two are in that kind of environment, even Kief will realize he can't escape the 'unscratchable itch'!

She winked, and Kanna wilted as she glanced over at Kief in defeat (who was indeead now scratching behind his ear). He sensed her staring, and grinned widely back, making her heart skip a beat.

"W- well... I suppose it might be nice to get out for a bit..."

She murmured as she poked her paws together, shyly lowering her flushed face to hide a small smile...

...

..."You just had to bring the kid along, didn't you?"

Minchi rolled her eyes as she watched Kief and Yufi yipping as they chased each other in circles around Jess's feet, running up and down the deck with boundless energy and bumping into other passengers. Kanna declined her head apologetically.

"She stowed away in Jess's bag... There was nothing I could do..."

The Minccino sighed. "It's not your fault, you don't need to say sorry. So much for a 'private romantic getaway' though."

Kanna shrugged, not too bothered by the fact that the younger Zigzagoon's presence had saved her from the pressure of meeting the meddling matchmaker's high expectations. ...Although truth be told, perhaps she did feel a slight pang of disappointment at losing the prospect of privacy... On the other hand, it looked like the party had gained an aspect of "piracy", as Kief was sporting a bandana instead of his regular Team Pocket hat, his a red with Yufi's a matching blue (provided courtesy of Iris in preparation for the expedition). She beamed as she watched the duo spar and tussle with each other, rolling around in ecstasy. Regardless of intent or unanticipated surprises, she was sure this would be a fun outing regardless, so long as she was with her trusted companions.

Of course, her other close comrade determined to stay behind, only coming to see her gal pal off at the dock. (As tempted as she was to tag along in order to take some pictures of their da- er, offer moral support.)

"Bye, Kan! You can do it, girl! Have fun~"

Kanna winced as Minchi whistled and gave her a paws-up, while Jess waved farewell as the ship steered away, vanishing into the distance. The remaining trio stood on the southern beach, Kief already sniffing the sand in search of any buried trinkets as Yufi mimicked the same motion. Kanna looked inland, and saw the roofs of thatch huts amongst the trees. Admittedly curious to see what kind of civilization the native species had built here (despite her usual social reservation), she cautiously tapped Kief and pointed towards the village.

"Hey, look- there are houses over there. Shall we go take a look?"

Kief cocked his head, then wagged his tail and nodded in agreement, gallantly leading the group into the grove, in order to explore the unknown...

The pleasant rainforest was abundant with noise and life, the local wildlife clearly enjoying themselves. The chatter was silenced quickly, however, as Caeda swooped down to land, allowing her passenger to disembark. "Next time, we take the ferry." said Kaitlyn, the Petilil having clearly not enjoyed the flight and was looking a paler shade of green than usual. "Well, I can't help it if flight's not for everyone, but Liawe said we're supposed to be looking for treasures and whatnot, so I figured flying in would be quicker than some boring old boat." replied Caeda, the Skarmory's wings glistening in the sunlight. "...Never mind. We'll take the boat home anyway, flying with all this stuff we're going to find might be a hassle. sighed the Grass type, her body slowly returning to its natural color. Speaking of hassles, where the hell is Hope?"

Kaitlyn's question was answered, as the Shuppet slid on out of the shadows, tapping the Petilil on the back. "Boop!" chuckled the Shuppet, as she made her presence known. Jolting, the little Petilil span around with a shriek that would probably have scared off any wildlife that had remained when Caeda landed. "DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN!" she yelled, before regaining her composure. Caeda chuckled softly to herself, before addressing the two companions she'd been landed with for this misadventure. "Right then, so we've been tasked with finding some items for Liawe. We've got two days, so I say we make the mosty of our time and get hunting. Shall we?" She finished the speech by extending a wing, and with the Shuppet and Petilil in tow, the Skarmory headed deeper into the rainforest in search of goodies.

Tate had been on the verge of tears when they had dismebarked the ship, and Niho and Makakae had hardly been able to free themselves from the overprotective clutches of their trainer. Young and inexperienced, the Totodile and Dunsparce stuck close to their older, and marginally wiser Houndour companion as Pouli led them across the soft sand of the beach.

"What do we do first?" Makakae asked, softly, with a voice like a glass bell. The sun was bright, and she hated it; when Pouli stopped in her tracks to think, she took the opportunity to burrow backwards into the warm sand with her tail, hiding all but her face beneath the shifting surface. The glare was still unpleasant, but at least it no longer scorched so much of her delicate skin. Pouli huffed, thoughtfully.

"'Uala says we have a whole day here," said the Houndour finally, with an uncertain inflection. Before she could continue with any specific train of thought, Niho interjected, excitedly.

"Let's go swimming!" She enthused, flailing her arms with great excitement, pointing towards the pools of water and lava. Lava?! She recoiled slightly, but Pouli's stubby tail began wagging.

"I think... I'll stay here," Makakae sighed, softly, descending further into the sand. Completely buried now, her voice was muffled under the granules. "...I can't swim."

Pitying their friend, Niho picked up a piece of driftwood and planted it upright in the sand over Makakae's head, to mark where she lie so that they wouldn't lose her. "We'll come back to check on you!" The young Totodile promised, as she and Pouli trotted off towards the hot springs.

Alright, everyone! Welcome to Incognito Isle! I'm going to break the seal by picking up Missingno. Master and AshsBabyLapras, and hopefully people will follow my lead!

★ Starlight Summit ★

Missingno. Master

The somewhat unlikely trio begins their hike up the mountain, destination set for the Starlight Summit. Cotton, brimming with enthusiasm, takes up the lead, at the begrudging allowance of Chromium. Tinnitus the Tympole, as of now legless, flops behind in the rear, managing to keep up with his companions, albiet with great effort. The path to the summit is a little rough but not terribly hard to traverse, and the grade is surprisingly shallow despite the height of the mountain. Being a little later in the day, the sun is shining over the mountain from the west, casting a long shadow across the mountain. The beautiful stars that are quite famous will not be out for a little bit longer, so the group has a little bit of time to kill before there are any sights to see at their destination. Despite the slow going, the walk is quite pleasant, with a cool, salty breeze blowing off the ocean. The path seems relatively clear, the destination set, but...

Ater a short time, the breeze is accompanied by another sound, which sounds rather like crying. As the group continues to ascend, they see a little pink and purple shape form in the distance. As the team draws near, the figure becomes clearer - it seems a little Mime Jr. has sat upon a rock, and is crying! Mime Jr. notices you after a few moments, and though he stops crying, perhaps partly out of embarrassment, but the sniffling doesn't stop. He looks at you and asks with a sob, "Oh, oh, an adventure group! Please help me! I lost my precious ball and I can't find it anywhere! Will you help me find it? I can give you a reward for helping!"

The little Mime seems absolutely desperate to find his cherished ball - will you help him?

♨ Bubbling Beach ♨

AshsBabyLapras

Skepticism and enthusiasm are the prevailing emotions among your ragtag team as the three Pokémon step foot onto the sandy beach. There are numerous Pokémon having fun in the sun or simply just relaxing - a Torkoal is splayed out on the sand, enjoying the rays, a Popplio is putting on a bubble show for a gaggle of Azurill, a flock of Wingull are dodging in and out of the waves, and a Magby and Slugma are enjoying a dip in the nearby magma pool. The Seel you saw earlier continue their playful game, batting around a ball between the two of them. It looks like quite a bit of fun!

Suddenly, however, the playful atmosphere seems to fizzle out. The Torkoal ambles away, the Popplio suddenly stops her show, scattering with the Azurill to the ocean, the Wingull fly further out to sea, and the Slugma and Magby pop beneath the surface. It doesn't take long to find the source of the interruption - a group of three Pokémon appear, sauntering down the beach. The pack is lead by a Houndour, who steps with quite a bit of swagger, followed closely by a mean-looking Corphish, who gnashes his claws menacingly. A timid little Panpour brings up the rear, but she doesn't look like she is trying quite as hard as her companions to be threatening...

The Seel have yet to notice the incoming party, realizing their mistake too late. They're taken by surprise as Corphish grabs their ball from them, mid-throw, holding it aloft in his claws. The Seel begin to panic as he squeezes it tight, looking like he's about to pop it. Before it bursts, Panpour, somewhat reluctantly, spits a Water Gun, which propels the ball past the dunes and into the hot springs. Corphish and Houndour let out sharp cackles at their mean prank, while Panpour doesn't look all too happy to be participating. The three of them continue on down the beach, looking for more trouble to stir.

The Seel both look rather distressed, chatting amongst themselves for a moment. One of them sends a glance back at Dreamer, perched on a high rock, and after what looks like a little bit of a debate, one of the Seel approaches Dreamer a little timidly, the second one coming right behind.

"Uh, um, are you an adventure team by any chance? W-would you be able to help us get our ball back? It's hard for us to go in the hot springs with our thick coats - we're much more suited to cold water, but we like to play on the beach here sometimes..."

The other Seel, clearly a little bolder, follows with, "Oh and, maybe you can help with the beach bully problem?"

It seems there is a bit of an issue with bullying on the beach - and these poor Seel have lost their favorite toy - how will the team act?

And so the hike up the mountain commenced. Cotton led the way, as enthusiastic as ever. He didn't even mind that Chromium was not sharing his level of enthusiasm, because he felt he had enough enthusiasm for the both of them.

Chromium, meanwhile, was thankful that the rough terrain wasn't especially difficult to traverse. She figured her Trainer would find it especially easy- she'd heard Keith tell stories about his youth in Lavaridge Town, about how he always liked to climb all over the Jagged Pass, which by all accounts was way harder to traverse than this trail. But yes- even Chromium, who wasn't exactly the most physically active Pokémon, wasn't having any trouble with this hike. Keeping up with Cotton's fast pace was really the hardest part. Still, she reasoned, at least she didn't have it as hard as Tinnitus. She glanced back at the Tympole, who was keeping up quite nicely, and smiling all the while, despite his tail being the closest thing he had to a limb of any sort. Chromium looked a bit incredulous at just how happy the mute Tympole managed to be despite being the worst suited of the three to traverse this terrain.

Before the Smeargle could dwell on this any further, however, the trio could hear a faint crying sound from up ahead. "C'mon, let's check that out," Cotton stated. Without leaving any time for either of his teammates to voice (or vibrate, as the case may be) their opinion on the matter, he rushed off towards the source. Thankfully, the Smeargle and Tympole were disinclined to disagree with him, and so they followed.

This course of action led them to the source of the crying- a Mime Jr. sitting on a rock. Upon spotting them, the Psychic/Fairy-type stopped crying. Mostly. He kept sniffling, but he'd managed to stop the majority of the sobbing. And the reason for said sobbing soon became clear- he explained how he lost his precious ball, and wasn't able to find it anywhere. He begged them to help, even going so far as to offer a reward for the safe return of the ball.

"Well, sure, we'll be glad to help," Cotton responded. "My name's Cotton- this here is Chromium, and this is Tinnitus."

"Hello," Chromium nodded, though she said little else. OK, nothing else. Tinnitus smiled reassuringly at Mime Jr., and generated some soundwaves intended to help cheer up the Psychic/Fairy-type.

"So! Just tell us where you last saw your ball," said Cotton. "And leave the rest to us. We'll find it for you."

TheKnightsFury: The small trio of Pokemon, lead by Scyther made their way through the Craggy Crater. Strange and twisted statues of iron line every corner, almost appearing as though the trio was on their way through some sort of twisted art gallery of sorts. The team was perfectly rounded, they had a leader, a quick and nimble creature, and someone who was able to clear any and all obstacles they came across. Although they started in a group, the Scyther, in his wisdom, had decided to break them all into specific groups in order to cover as much of the area as possible and ensure that they received a just reward. He took to the air, while his quick and nimble Senret companion darted through all the odd and twisted formations around her. The Mudbray simply trotted ahead, not a care in the world as she kept a steady pace going.

The Senret was the first to find something of value, but it wasn't exactly the treasure they were searching for. Rather, it was a large steel clad Pokemon that was laying on it's side. The Senret recognised it rather quickly as being that of an Lairon, but something didn't exactly seem right about the poor creature. It was moaning as if in pain, curled up in a ball near some iron deposits.

"Oough..." It moaned, opening it's eyes as it heard something approach it. "Oh... hey there lassie." He glanced at the small Senret that had approached it. He gave a weak smile and what sounded like a burp of sorts. "Oh man... I ate way too much..." He looked like he was about to be sick, it was kind of pitiful to see. He groaned again, you couldn't be sure if it was just hamming it up for the attention or if he was actually in pain.

"Hey kid, are you busy? Would you mind getting me some limestone for this heartburn? I'll give you a reward if you were willing to help me."

The creature did look like he was in a lot of pain... perhaps it would be wise to help him?

Khutulun wasn't too sympathetic for the silly Lairon who had given himself heartburn. He should have known better than to eat so much, but he was kind and polite, more than enough of a reason for them to help him. The Sentret rose up onto her tail so that Spartacus and Boudicca could see her. She let out an alarm call, resulting in Boudicca and Spartacus quickly changing course to come to her aid. Upon their arrival she quickly fills them in on the situation. Hopefully the Lairon's reward was worth the effort.

"Agreed", states Spartacus, "we should be looking to help everyone who needs it, that is what Jayson would do." The Scyther turns to the Mudbray "Boudicca, you would be the most familiar with the earth, what does limestone look like?"

The Mudbray pauses for a moment as she thinks of an answer, "Limestone is a type of rock that is rich in Calcium, it will be a little grey colour, perhaps a pale yellowish tinge to it."

"Excellent work Boudicca and great work finding him Khutulun", Spartacus praised his two companions, Jayson had stressed the importance of positive reinforcement. "Fan out again and keep your eyes peeled for any limestone deposits. Call out if you find some, we will likely need Boudicca to bust off chucks and carry them back for us."

With everyone clear on their task, Spartacus took to the air once more while the two earthbound Pokemon splintered off in search of some limestone for the troubled Lairon.

"You're tired already?! We've barely even started! C'mon Presea, I thought at least you might be able to keep up the pace, but you're just slowing down my game instead. You sure you didn't pick up a lagging tail somewhere along the way?" The Sceptile's mocking words only served to annoy the young Axew further, who threw back disdainful glares in between her heavy breathing. They had been at this for what seemed like hours already, and what initially seemed like a nice stroll through the woods turned eventually into sheer torture for her as she continued to trudge through the heat and humidity, the ups and downs through muddy soil and the constant stumbling over concealed and inconveniently placed tree roots. It's always so interesting how the right (or wrong) context can completely alter one's perception, and Sothe's unceasing verbal jabs did not help one bit. It's not like he would understand. He was practically at home here, and could very likely have scouted the entirety of the forest already if he wanted to, effortlessly flying from treetop to treetop as he did. Instead, he stuck close like a blood-sucking pest. As if he had nothing better to do.

"Still giving me the silent treatment, eh? You've been like this since day one, no matter what I say. It's ok princess, you don't need to utter a single word. I got this! I know exactly what you want, so Uncle Sothe is gonna stay nice and close the whole way, just to make sure you get the job done. Aren't I the coolest and most considerate supervisor ever? Now then, you waiting for nightfall or what? Breaktime is over, let's go!"

Presea remained silent. She wished him dead.

"Alright you guys, you play nice," Jeri advised as his Kecleon stepped off the boat and onto the dock, along with a gaggle of others, "And keep them out of trouble."

"Yessir!" Koi responded, in human speak, throwing the Treasure Bag over his shoulder and giving a salute.

"No, not you," Jeri shakes his head, "I mean Ai," the other Kecleon who stepped off the boat with blue stripes blushed a little, her green coloration turning red all over.

"What? You don't trust me?"

"Why would I trust you?"

"Fair," Koi conceded, linking arms with his sibling, "C'mon sis, let's go adventurin'!"

"Woah, woah, hold up, you're not going anywhere just yet," Jeri scolded.

From the crowd, Lucas poked through, a white-coated Vulpix clutched in his arms. He set the tiny fox down, patting her head.

"Alors, qu'est-çe que tu as ton badge d'adventure ?" Violette nodded in response, showing her badge on her chest proudly, "Trčs bien, amusez-vous bien, non ? Ŕ demain, ma cheri."

Violette trotted off the boat, joining the Kecleon on the dock.

"You two look after her, you hear?" Jeri ordered.

"Yeah, yeah, she's safe with us. Go, have fun on your cruise! We'll see you tomorrow."

"Okay, bye," Jeri feigned sternness, giving away his feeling with a smirk.

The ramp pulled back as the boat came away from the dock. Lucas turned to Jeri once they were out of earshot of the Pokémon, looking a little concerned.

"Are you sure they'll be fine?" He asked.

"Yeah, Ai is responsible enough," Jeri dismissed.

"Well, okay," Lucas replied, clearly not convinced.

"C'mon, don't worry. We're supposed to be here to have fun, right? Let's get you a drink, take your mind of them."

"Um, okay, remind me again why we're here?" Koi asked, this time in Pokémon speech, suppressing a shiver, as the group left the dock and made their way onto the Frosty Fjord.

"We're here to spend time with Violette," Ai answered, "Jeri and Lucas want us to all get to know each other, so we're here."

"Yeah okay but why do we have to go somewhere so freezing?" Koi complained, putting particular emphasis on the last word.

"Violette is not exactly at home elsewhere, so this is where we're gonna be," Ai explained calmly.

"Fine, but I get to pick the next place we go. And we're going somewhere where it pays off to be cold blooded."

Ai ignored her brother at this point, instead deciding to engage Violette, "So, sweetie, what do you want to do?"

"I want to see the ships," she responds almost immediately.

"The ships it is," Ai agrees.

Koi grumbles but doesn't protest further.

(Morgana) ~❤~ (Mochi)

Morgana had been itching for an adventure since he had hatched from his egg. Amazingly enough, incognito isle gave him the ability to do just that, escape from the unfortunate circumstances of his own trainer and go out on his own. However, this was most certainly not what he desired. His trainer had forced one of the newer recruits, a young pink cat, to come along with him. She was innocent, not yet jaded by the horrors of the world. Morgana knew them all too well, looking at their trainer was a grim reminder of how cruel the world could truly be.

"Morgie!~" Morgana was roused from his own thoughts by that sickeningly sweet mewl from his female companion. He glanced over at her, seeing a cheeky grin across her closed eye face. "What are we here for again Morgie?" She asked, glancing at the slightly older tomcat. He hated that nickname, but he certainly did not want to burst the younger cat's bubble. He hated offending people, specifically girls. He gave a false smile, faint on his mouth.

"Well... Pascal would've come, but he has to stay with Lady Elka. We're here to maybe find a stone for him to evolve with." He explained, calmly and as slowly as possible for the young child to understand. She titled her head slightly, glancing up at Morgana as the two continued their walk.

"Evolve..? Like... change, right?" She asked, looking at him again. Morgana nodded, maybe this child was smarter than he was giving her credit for. "Oh! Right! He needs one of those stones, right? I think I do too!" Morgana chuckled to himself, she was kind of cute when she was actually thinking about things.

"Yeah! Maybe after this trip, our master will send us elsewhere so we can find a stone for you." He smiled with compassion, he felt like he was beginning to understand her a little better now that the two of them had actually began talking. The two trotted down the beach, continuing their conversation while they left trails of footprints in the sand behind them. Morgana was curious what awaited them on the beach, he just hoped that they wouldn't have to get wet. He absolutely despised water.

Dreamer | Sebastian | Peaches

Straight away, Dreamer eyes the Houndour with suspicion. The psychic cat doesn't like dog Pokémon too much at the best of times (though she tolerates her teammate Karma; ABL would never accept any disrespect towards her treasured starter). This one is a Dark type as well, just to add to the Espeon's immediate feeling of animosity. Mm, there's one of your kind back home, too, she says inwardly. And I can't say I'm especially fond of him, either.

The trio of newcomers to the Bubbling Beach succeed in scaring off most of the other fun-seeking Pokémon. Sebastian watches with great disapproval, but he's reluctant to dive in without fully assessing the situation. Little Peaches watches the fleeing beachgoers with curiosity, but it isn't until the Houndour and its pals pick on the Seel pair that she starts to realise the nature of the situation. Her mouth gapes with horror as the bullies threaten to destroy the beach ball, as delightfully round and colourful as it is. Though they end up merely knocking it into the distance, the Pichu gets intensely upset to see such a fine toy being taken from its owners and fat tears start to roll down her cheeks. Sebastian makes a small effort towards giving her a soothing pat on the back, but the Mudkip isn't used to dealing with such a young Pokémon and the gesture is rather awkward. Dreamer keeps her eyes fixed on the three tormentors as they saunter off, her tail flicking sharply back and forth.

Bashfully, the Seel come up to the mismatched trio of would-be adventurers. Doing the only thing she can think of, Peaches runs over to them, hugging each Seel in turn. She hiccups and wipes her eyes. "Sowwy for ball," she says, her lower lip still trembling. The baby's genuine sorrow is enough to touch even Dreamer's heart, and so the Espeon abandons her perch to get closer to the pair of pinnipeds.

"Now, now," she says, putting one paw around Peaches comfortingly. "We'll get this sorted out."

Dreamer's gentler approach towards the distressed Pichu hasn't gone unnoticed by Sebastian. Silently, he bumps the Psychic type up a notch or two in his estimation. Maybe she's not as harsh as she initially seemed?

"So what are we going to do?" he asks the team's leader.

Dreamer glances at Peaches, who's finally managed to stem the flow of tears. "I suppose we'd better retrieve that toy like we've been asked to,"
she replies.

"Ball!" adds Peaches enthusiastically.

"Mm." She nods at the toddler. "But she's too small to go splashing about in a hot spring and I just can't, so...?" Dreamer smiles sweetly at the Mudkip.

"Shouldn't be difficult," says Sebastian with a shrug. "I'll get it back for you."

With that, the Mudkip plods off the same way the ball flew. Lagging behind, Dreamer reassures the Seel. "Then we'll go and find those troublemakers."

The Espeon's eyes narrow as she mutters, "And I'll figure out exactly what to do with them."

This was a pairing destined for failure. Thorn, a Cacturne who was more of a greedy trickster than a team player, Buru, a Smeargle who was too shy and reserved to ever consider voicing her opinion, and Lynxa, a Sneasel who was too moody and untrusting to get along with anyone. However, this was the team Gary assembled to send off on an adventure to Incognito Isle. It would serve as a ‘bonding exercise,’ he said, and it would give Lynxa some time to get accustomed to her new teammates.

There they stood, at the entrance of the Withering Woods. Being the eldest and the strongest, Gary had entrusted Thorn with the duty of protecting the other two, but he was a wildcard; Thorn’s focus right off the bat was looking around to see what kinds of stuff he could steal. Because of that, he gladly wore the bag over his shoulder like a satchel. He only put the slightest of effort into not getting separated from the other two out of respect for his trainer.

Buru nervously shuffled her feet and held up a small sketch pad. She wasn’t too interested in this expedition, but she trusted Gary’s words that she could use this as an opportunity to break out of her shell a bit. It was hard though, as she simply stared down at the blank canvas, thinking only about what to draw.

Lynxa crossed her arms and rolled her eyes as she looked at the Cacturne and Smeargle. While she did owe a debt of gratitude to the one who pulled her out of the kennel, she was being immediately thrust into some dark woods with two Pokemon she never even met before. She didn’t plan on playing nice with them, but the least she could do was not get separated.

As the three of them made their way into the Withering Woods, not a word was spoken.

Missingno. Master

Upon your offer, the Mime Jr. perks up considerably, looking quite pleased at your acceptance.

"Great!" he cheered, still sniffing a bit, "The last place I had it was over by that cave," he pointed to a cave not too far away, "but it... well it seemed to fly off somewhere in it and I don't know where it ended up! I would go in myself, but it's rather scary and dark... there's that Pokémon blocking the way."

Just over a nearby rock is an indent in the side of the mountain that dips into the darkness, rays of the sun barely even touching it. Right at its mouth, there is the Pokémon Mime Jr. referred to, in fact blocking the way. The Pokémon is large and somewhat round, with a blue coat and arms and legs pulled in tight. From this distance, it looks much more like a statue than anything else. It seems to be stern and unmoving, and doesn't even appear to be breathing.

"When I tried to go in, that Pokémon would just block my path. I tried to move it out of the way, but it released a big burst of fire when it did and it scared me so much!" Mime Jr. explains, "I tried to talk to it too, but it didn't respond... It seems to be meditating or something..."

The problem seems fairly clear cut, but the solution is much less clear. The little Mime, however, seems eager for your help... what will you do?

"Thank you so much!" the bolder of the Seel pair responds as the team heads through the dunes and towards the hot springs.

You follow a narrow path between a few towering hills of sand off the beach, and it doesn't take long to see why they call it the Bubbling Beach. Numerous tiers of hot springs are scattered across the area, all giving off rolling steam. Even in the open air, the haze of steam gathers fairly thick, pushed around by the salty sea breeze. There are quite a number of hot springs to search; this could take a while!

Mercifully, though, your search is over nearly as soon as it started, as only a few moments after coming across the springs, a colorful flash bursts into the air! The beach ball can be clearly seen being popped into the air and sinking back down again, not too far from where the group stands. As you approach, you find a pair of Poliwhirl, sitting in the hot spring and having quite a fun time with the ball, slapping it back and forth with their wide, mitten-like hands, croaking and chortling as they bat the ball between themselves. The duo seem to be enjoying themselves quite a bit with their newfound toy, though it doesn't take long to notice that the ball is looking to be a bit worse for the wear, between the attempted popping and the heat of the springs wearing on its vinyl exterior. It might be best to retrieve the ball before too long before it becomes a soggy plastic pancake, which would be no fun for anyone!

Withering Woods

Sandaa

‘Something or other lay in wait for him, amid the twists and the turns of the months and the years, like a crouching Beast in the Jungle. It signified little whether the crouching Beast were destined to slay him or to be slain.’

While perhaps not the most harmonious squadron to ever step foot into an eerie forest, the trio seemed to be damn effective at forging ahead through the rapidly thickening underbrush. Thorn, the de-facto leader of the troop, seems to be quite at home in the somewhat arid forest, begrudgingly paving the way his other two party members. The three could not help but notice the deafening silence pervading the inky woodlands they were traversing, only being sparsely interrupted by the rustling of the brush beneath their feet. Buru is the first to notice the dying of the light; her eyes were not nearly as well adapted as those of her compatriots, who don't particularly seem to be affected by the change. Nevertheless, the three march on, as an acrid, smoky musk wafts through the air.

Any internal thoughts the ragtag team had were immediately cut off by a pained cry sounding off in the distance. A clearing comes into sight, at the center of it a badly beaten mammalian creature. The brown fox's now rusty, bloodstained fur is matted heavily with dirt and debris, and one of the poor thing's ears seems to be rather badly burned. A few wicked gashes stand out starkly against the white fur of its breast, a clear sign of a vicious claw attack. The poor creature weakly mewls and lifts its head, glancing at the members of your squad. It seems unable to speak, but its eyes scream unholy terror.

Lynxa's sensitive ears perk up slightly as she picks up on a low rumble in the near distance, although she is unable to detect precisely where it is coming from. The trio look at the wounded Eevee before them, taking a moment of hesitation to think... what will they do?

Mime Jr. seemed to cheer up quite a bit in response to Cotton's willingness to help. He was very helpful himself, pointing out the cave near which he last had the ball, and even explained that the ball had flown off into said cave. However, that was where the good news ended- the reason Mime Jr. couldn't simply go in and get the ball himself was sitting right in front of the mouth of the cave, looking decidedly disinclined to move. "Whoa," Cotton remarked, eyeing the mysterious Pokémon. "What kind of Pokémon is that? I never seen something like that before."

"I've seen portraits of it," said Chromium. "This is a Darmanitan, I'm sure of it."

"Darmanitan?" repeated Cotton. "You mean that big red thing with the arms and the burning eyebrows and the maniac grin?" He looked back at the subdued blue Pokémon, with no visible limbs and no grin of any sort. What little eyebrows it could be said to have were most certainly not on fire. "Uhh... This does not look like that," he stated.

"It's in its Zen Mode, you uneducated fairground snack," snapped Chromium. "Certain Darmanitan can assume Zen Mode when they've taken a lot of damage. When they're like this, they're nearly immobile, but their special attacks are extremely powerful."

"Hm... And I guess we can't reason with it, can we?" Cotton questioned. "Not if it won't respond to talking... well, then, we'll just have to go around it," he stated, his tone of voice so matter of fact that Chromium and Tinnitus looked to see if there might have been any room for them to squeeze past.

"...OK, I'll bite," sighed the Smeargle. "How exactly do you propose we do that? I don't think any of us are squeezing past that thing. Especially you- you try squeezing past anything or anyone, you're gonna get stuck fast."

"Not what I had in mind," responded Cotton. "If we can't take that entrance, we'll just make our own instead," he grinned. "And that's where you come in, Chrome," he added. "You're gonna help us tunnel our way in with Dig!"

"...I am?" responded Chromium, though as she caught sight of Mime Jr., she gave a small sigh. "...Alright, fine, I am," she conceded. "Just as long as we're not on the business end of that Darmanitan's attacks. Now let's get moving so I can find a good spot to start digging," she stated, taking the opportunity to take the lead herself.

Dreamer | Sebastian | Peaches

"Ah, target identified! I'm glad that didn't take too long," says Dreamer pleasantly. "Off you go then, Sebastian!"

Sebastian frowns slightly. He's not thrilled about the way he's been thrown into the role of Primary Ball Retriever, but as a Water Pokémon, it really does make the most sense for him to be responsible in this situation. Those Seel are counting on them, and Peaches would doubtlessly be devastated if the ball were to reach an untimely end.

Steeling his nerves, the little Mudkip marches up to the playful pair. He clears his throat, more out of politeness than anything else. "Excuse me, my good Pokémon," he begins with an uneasy smile. "I do so hate to interrupt your game, but I must inform you that the toy you're currently enjoying actually belongs to some acquaintances of ours down on the beach. You see, they were actually victims of some rather unkind fellows and, well, not to belabour the point, but they're rather keen to have it back."

"We'd be very grateful if you'd be kind enough to hand it back to us." He pauses momentarily to indicate Peaches to the Poliwhirl. "Especially my young friend there," he adds, hoping to appeal to any soft spot they might have for little ones. Peaches, right on cue, waves merrily to the pair.

Dreamer sits passively a safe distance away from any clouds of steam. Despite her nonchalant appearance, she's watching everything carefully, ever so slightly on edge. Of course, if anyone asked, she'd waste no time in telling them that it was only because she didn't want to deal with the little Pichu making a fuss again. Nothing more.

“Alright you two, lets make sure we have lots of treasure to bring back to Patches!” Mio the Pikachu took charge and attempted to lead the way while dragging a lazy Eevee by the tail.

“This is the worst day of my life. It just has to be. I can’t think of a single day before now that was as bad as this one already is. How much longer do we have to be out here?” Momo the Eevee has been doing his best to make sure that the others are aware of his suffering.

“I will not hesitate to shock you Momo. You should feel honored that you were chosen to explore this place. It means that our owner has a lot of faith in you.” Mio doesn’t feel like listening to Momo complain all day and finally lets go of his tail. “Fine. We’ll just leave you behind then. Come on Kei!” She stomps on ahead knowing the last thing Momo wants is to be left all alone.

“But...” Kei the Charmander begins to tear up at the idea of leaving his friend behind. “Momo… Are you going to be okay?”

“I’m dying Kei… I don’t think I can go on...” Momo dramatically flips over on his back and closes his eyes.

“No, Momo!! Please! Is there anything I can do to help?” Kei runs up to Momo in a panic.

“I just.. I need to be held.” Momo opens his eyes and gives Kei a pleading stare. Kei approaches Momo intending to give him a hug but is immediately interrupted by a bolt of lightening whizzing past him and then making contact with the “dying” Momo. “EEEE!” Momo instantly stands up, some of his fur is now singed. “I’ll give you a real reason to think you’re dying if you don’t buck up right now.” Mio’s eyes are fierce, practically piercing right through the little Eevee. Momo sighs and begins to walk, “Let’s just get this over with.”

Finally, the team of three begin to make some progress exploring the Island. “So, do you guys have a preference of which area we-” Mio, who was leading the way, wasn’t paying attention and walked right off a ledge mid-sentence. Fortunately, she managed to grab onto the edge before it was too late and pulled herself back up. The other two quickly caught up and they all take a moment to stare down into the gorge. “I think you almost just died Mio. You almost felt what I've been feeling all day.” Momo says casually. “Shut up, Momo.” Mio shoots Momo another glare. “Um… Why don’t we take that path down and explore here for now.” Kei ignores the exchange between Momo and Mio and points to a nearby path that appears to be leading down into the gorge. Mio just nods and begins to descend down the path with the other two following closely behind.

Seeing no other way but under, the team employs the help of Chromium, who through her creative powers has managed to learn how to Dig. Using a combination of her paws and tail, she begins to shovel dirt and rocks aside, making her way under the ground to bypass the stoic Pokémon meditating at the cave entrance. To avoid any catastrophic collapse trapping them, the team sticks close as the Smeargle tunnels to the other side. After quite a bit of digging, Chromium pops her head up, having successfully arrived on the other side. The other two manage to make it out as well - and just in time too - not long after the trio exited the makeshift tunnel does it begin to collapse and take the ground above it and the entranced Darmatian with it too! The Darmatian sinks into the newly created hole, continuing to be unmoving, stoic, and blocking the exit. It seems like you may need to find another way out of the cave; either that, or hope that the big ape has snapped out of it and moved on by the time you return.

Turning attention to the cave you put a good deal of effort to trap yourselves in, you see two possible branching paths laid out ahead of you - to the left is a somewhat narrower path, which seems to have some light streaming into it from some unknown source, while to the left is a broader path that is pitch black. There is a faint echo coming from the left side of the cave, though it's hard to tell exactly what it is. It sounds like some sort of flapping and rustling, but it's too faint and diffuse to pinpoint anything for certain...

Upon your explanation, the Poliwhirl seem to be rather embarrassed that they were playing with a stolen ball!

"Oh, dear!" one of them croaks, "We didn't realize! We just thought it had been blown in by the wind. Things like these wash up quite often so we figured it was just another stray toy."

"Please take it back! I hope the owners haven't missed it too much!" The Poliwhril passes you back the ball, looking a bit flustered that the toy was ill-gotten.

"You mentioned that the ones who stole the ball were bothering Pokémon on the beach, right? I bet it's those nasty youngsters. What do they call themselves again, Croakina?"

"The Rough Customers, I think, Hoppy."

"Oh yes, that's it. They're a nasty little bunch. Except for that Panpour though - I think she's just fallen in with the wrong crowd."

"I actually knew her before she got caught up in that rabble. She's quite a nice girl, but she never really fit in with the other Pokémon her age. Her parents are quite worried about her."

"Oh yes, I think little Polly is her age. If I remember right, she was bullied quite a bit when they were younger. It's a shame she's gotten caught up with those two nasty boys, though. They've always been troublemakers."

"Well, I do hope you two can sort that out," Croakina says, turning to you, "Please extend our apologies to the owners of the ball."

"Oh, Croakina, look at the time!" Hoppy exclaimed, pointing to the sun, which was starting to dip just a bit lower.

"Oh no! We should get back before the boys return from the Village. Well, good luck, you all!"

With that, the two Poliwhirl exit the spring and head inland where some of the cooler waters are, chatting as they go. With the ball back in your care, you can return it to your new friends, but if the Poliwhirl are right, that Panpour could use a helping hand, or maybe a bit of advice...?

With one of your teammates happily planted in the sand and out of the sun, the two remaining team members plod along, headed towards the various hot springs that lie beyond the dunes. The springs are fairly quiet today, but there are still a few Pokémon mulling about. A Slowpoke was sitting near you, tail dipped into the spring, fishing in vain for the Pokémon that weren't there. A Froakie was hopping between two of the pools, making a big splash with his Buizel friend, who was spraying water everywhere with her propeller tails. A Bibarel ambled down the path lazily, looking to have enjoyed a nice dip and making his way back to his home in the village slowly. Though the sun is bright, a veil of hazy steam somehow manages to cool the air despite the hot water bubbling up. It's more or less the perfect day to visit the hot springs!

...until a big burst of water flies from a nearby spring. There's a brief moment of commotion, and a bug Pokémon with an almost horseshoe-like shape darts past you. A glint of something its holding catches in the sun.

"STOP, THIEF!" a Pokémon calls out. A few moments later, you see a Pansear take chase, but the fiery monkey stops short just near you, huffing and puffing, unable to catch the culprit. She manages to catch her breath after a moment, and spies you out of the corner of her eye.

"Oh, you two - would you be able to help? That nasty little Wimpod just took my cherished necklace. My sweetheart made it from me from gems and shells she found on the beach and she would be devastated if I lost it!"

This Pansear seems quite desperate to recover her necklace... are you willing to help?

If the three Pokemon had learned anything of their trainer during their varying stays with her, it was that Alice Hope was a creature of materialism and luxury, and so when the affordable cruise was announced, she had hopped right on it. As it was, they were the luckiest of her Pokemon. Their high-standard human could be as generous as she was often selfish, and the trio had been able to go on a holiday of their own.

Disembarking the vessel, they were an interesting group: A Snubbull led the charge, her face a default snarl that contrasted greatly to the other two. The Mime Jr in particular seemed to be singing in her tongue, dancing her way towards the brush, her oddly coloured body literally shimmering in the warm sunlight. Far from pink, and shy but curious, an Alolan Vulpix padded on after them, keeping an eye on the baby that had joined the team after her.

"Don't stray too far." Pixie cooed softly as the creature darted about, dancing in pirouettes and breaking the tranquil quiet with her sweet tunes. Samantha seemed mildly disinterested, sneezing from the pollen but still stubborn enough to take in all of the rainforest's delicious scents. It was a bit muggy for Pixie, but the others didn't seem to mind. She would still make the best of it if she could. None of the three had ever visited a setting quite like this one, and it would be a crime to the others not to enjoy it and do as much as they could. Besides, there were great treasures to be found, and the girls knew that Alice would cherish them all the more if they brought their human some good shiz.

There is a faint echo coming from the left side of the cave, though it's hard to tell exactly what it is. It sounds like some sort of flapping and rustling, but it's too faint and diffuse to pinpoint anything for certain...
The Smeargle set to work, tunneling her way under the ground, her teammates sticking to her (very literally in Cotton's case) as she did so, the better to prevent some unexpected cave-in from separating them. Thankfully, no such cave in occurred... well, not until after they were out of the makeshift tunnel, anyway. For indeed, no sooner had they cleared the new entrance than it collapsed. Moreover, the ground above it sank, and so did the Zen Mode Darmanitan occupying aforementioned ground. Naturally, the Fire/Psychic-type remained unfazed by this sudden shift in elevation. Exiting would very likely prove problematic, but the group figured they'd cross that bridge when they came to it. For now, there was a cave ahead of them to be explored, a ball to be found.

And right away, as an irate Chromium peeled her Fairy-type teammate off of her, they all noticed that the path ahead forked already. "OK," stated Cotton. "Which way do we go?"

"I'm thinking we go the way we can actually see," Chromium retorted, gesturing to the left path. "Unless you like the idea of stumbling around in the dark," she added.

"Chrome, you forget," grinned Cotton. "I know Flash. The right path would be a piece of cake. And it looks a lot bigger, too- we'd all fit down there."

"And so would something big enough to crush us all," the Smeargle persisted. "Anything that can fit down the left path couldn't possibly be big enough to pose a... oh, yeah, Hermione," she mumbled, recalling that one of her teammates practically lived to refute her exact way of thinking. Hermione might be a Weedle, but she was by no means a pushover.

"Yeah," nodded Cotton. "Size does not equal power." Tinnitus nodded his agreement as well.

"I get it, I get it," snapped Chromium. "So, what, we go to the right and you light the way?"

"Why not?" grinned the Swirlix. "C'mon, let's go," he added. He started to lead the way down the darker pathway, though not before using Flash to light the way.
