Loch Bygone Gym
Loch Bygone Gym Loch Bygone, in its heyday, was a great and beautiful lake, said to be one of Fizzytopia's natural wonders, with a bustling community developed on its banks and fishermen and their families reaping the benefits of the tourism and bounty of its shimmering waters. The lake teemed with all sorts of aquatic life, and all was well and good, with humanity and nature living harmoniously side by side. As the years went on, however, the residents began to notice that the shores of the lake grew larger, and after some investigation it was discovered to the horror of the community that the lake was shrinking. Developments further south led construction work to form a sinkhole, one that the lake was gradually draining into. Coupled with a streak of unnatural drought and the once pristine lake was but a shell of its former glory, having dessicated and dried up, and as the tourists stopped coming, the settlement itself was all but abandoned. Today Loch Bygone's name is but a memory and marker of its past, and the mud within the lakebed has over the days hardened and cracked, yet despite the evacuation and localized extinction of its formerly aquatic inhabitants the lake seems to be teeming with new life. Ground type pokemon have taken to residing in and around the dry lakebed, taking advantage of the dry seasons to thrive and the wet seasons to breed within the damp mud. Of recent, a large deposit of unusual metal has been unearthed following a streak of tectonic activity, attracting numerous Steel types to the vicinity, as the ghosts that used to call the nearby ruins home have left for more haunted locales. In the absence of the prior Gym Leader, a sentient machine by the name of the Manager has taken residence in the buildings to both study the ore as well as to maintain the loch as it stands. Gym Details: Primary Type: Ground. Secondary Type: Steel. Gym Leader: The Manager and Codex. Deputy Gym Leader: N/A. Secret Power Effect: Lowers Defence, appearance of Mud Bomb. Camouflage: Ground type. Nature Power: Hydro Pump. Gym Pokemon: Golurk (N), Level 52. The group had just finished getting the last of the equipment moved into the main hall from what was left of the Spire, and while Alex was out scouting the area he looked down upon the Power Spot and the few pokemon mulling around there. From a distance he could make out a number of small lumps and a larger one mulling around, as the beckoning Spring air pricked at his skin. "Won't be too long before the wet season starts, if what that guy told me's true..."
The sudden flaring of the Power Spot caught his attention fully as he was about to turn away, and as he watched in shock the smaller lumps began to flit around in a panic, as the larger one suddenly began to swell to great size, and continued to grow. The panicked lumps dashed past him as quickly as their little porcine feet would allow, though mercifully the swelling of the parent had ceased. However, the sudden change in size certainly meant the woolly swine was taken by surprise, and could pose a danger to the town his team were renovating. Without too much thought, he reached for his Xtransceiver and hit a distress call to trainers with some swift messaging. (Raid Boss Alert at Loch Bygone. Scans indicate a Three star Threat Level, requiring a group of Four to pacify. Subject in question is one Piloswine, Ice/Ground type. Requesting aid immediately.) Signups will be open until April 8th, please reply with your pokemon, including level, species, active movepool and any held items. |

Things had settled down quickly once the Piloswine had recovered and been sent off with their brood of piglets, and as Alex looked over the records that he found in one of the ruined buildings, he could more closely gauge when each of the seasons would commence. Currently they were nearing the end of the dry season, and the wet would soon arrive with the lake slowly filling with rainwater and mud. It was therefore a good idea to scout out the surroundings of the locale, notably what seemed to be another set of ruined buildings at the other side of Loch Bygone.
Thus when he got there, having left his Dusknoir to monitor the Power Spot, he received a message from the ghost pokemon, relaying some urgency. Apparently some pokemon he'd not heard much about had taken encampment near the spot and was not in the way of moving, apparently waiting for some "mighty warriors" or something, and as he was about to turn back to meet their demands, his Garchomp raring to go, the spot erupted in the far distance. A few of the ghost pokemon at the outskirts of the far settlement milled around excitedly, and one Haunter in particular looked expectantly at him, as things fell into place. "Alright, you ghouls. Lemme just get a call out..." he sighed, before contacting Lapis for details and paging forth an alert. (Raid Boss Alert...estimated Four Star Threat Level, requiring Eight raiders...subject in question is a Galarian variant, deemed Runerigus, Ghost/Ground type despite rocky appearance. Aid requested immediately, they are agitated.) Signups will be open untl May 9th. Please reply with your pokemon, including species, level, ability, active movepool and any held items. |

"...Runerigus?" Keith murmured, reading the name of the Pokémon that had been mentioned in the alert. "I've never heard of that."
"I have," Willa replied, looking up from her PokéGear, which had been sent the same alert. "In Galar, Yamask have a regional variant that evolve into something that's considered different enough to be considered a completely different species than Cofagrigus. I don't know much more than that, only that it's a Ground and Ghost-type." "Ground and Ghost, huh?" Keith murmured. "Interesting type combo. Only heard of it on the likes of Palossand and Golurk before." "Indeed," Willa nodded. "Would you mind if Decidueye and I took this one?" she asked Keith. Keith grinned. "Have at it," he said. Willa said nothing at this, but gave a small smile in response. ~~~~~ Loch Bygone. In times long gone, a thriving, beautiful lake. Today, naught but a dry lakebed. But it wasn't all bad- Ground-types were drawn to this environment, and seemed to thrive here. And Ghost-types were evidently known to gather here as well. Knowing this, Willa wasn't too surprised that a Ground and Ghost-type was to be her next opponent. As she approached, however, one of her Ultra Balls burst open, and it wasn't Decidueye's. Willa blinked in surprise at the leafy creature that had appeared before her. "Skiddo?" she said. "What is it?" "Baaa! Baaaaaa!" Skiddo bleated determinedly, looking intently at Willa before turning to face the looming figure that was the Dynamaxed Runerigus. "...You want to battle Runerigus?" Willa asked. "Are you certain, Skiddo? This is sure to be far stronger than most Pokémon you've gone up against thus far..." "BAAAAAAAA!" Skiddo responded, his tone resolute. Willa gave a small smile and a nod. "Naturally. Of course you'd want to face stronger opponents as you yourself get stronger.... Very well, then," she stated. "Let's take on that Runerigus, together." This elicited some happy bleating from Skiddo, followed by a playful Tackle attack that knocked Willa to the ground. Willa chuckled as she got back up, then climbed onto Skiddo's back, and the Mount Pokémon took off, carrying his Trainer to where other Trainers had already gathered. OOC: Willa Carnet will be entering this raid with her Skiddo, whose stats are below; Quote:

Welp, guess we're gonna be iconoclasts after this. And what kind of iconoclast doesn't at least carry around a gun... like shrimp monster? Most of 'em, probably.
Anyway, I'm bringing my clauncher into this one. Spoiler: show |

The first sign of the wet season was visible as clouds began to gather in the sky above Loch Bygone, and Alex was interested to see how the lake would be affected by the impending monsoon. Things were certainly calmer anyways: having appeased the spectres of the settlement across the pond, the loch had fell quiet recently, but things would soon change.
It was when a couple of his pokemon returned from the Power Spot that he knew something was up once more. Looking over their status, he could see the familiar clouds gathering once more, and the crackle of lightning in the air told him enough of what the source of it could be as he sent out an alert. (Raid boss alert, appears to be harnessing electricity and creating storm. Estimated Four Star Threat Level, requiring Four Raiders to quell. Presence in earthen domain suggests subject is Stunfisk, Unovan Native by the looks of things. Exercise caution.) |

Last month had been quiet on the Power Spot, but that was explained easily by the torrential rains and the dry lakebed becoming a deadly swamp, mud thick enough to grab hold on anything that ventured in it yet fluid enough so that anything caught would quickly sink into its depths, never to be seen again. It was thusly good news that the storm had broken for a few days, and as he gazed upon the aftermath, he could see how the loch earned its name these days.
A sorry state, but things were about to get a whole lot worse. He could see some shadows mulling around in the distance, doubtless some of the ghosts across the pond drawing straws at who got to play around the power spot again, and as he sighed and readied himself to call on Lapis and Cal to shoo them away, the spot erupted with intense energy as one ghost in particular had dived straight into the rift. Said ghost's chums very quickly made to escape, as the clouds broiled over and as he watched with some concern, he knew this was going to be a rough ride. (Raid boss al-) he began to write on the phone, when he stopped. Was it him, or was he hearing things? Voices, somehow familiar, emanating from the direction of the power spot, beckoning him to come. He took a step forward, only to be caught by a large earthen object, his Golurk having stopped him walking off the nearby ledge, and looking down he saw the quicksand. The nerve of it...(Gigantamax Boss Alert. Subject in question appears to be willing to lure others to demise, intense energy readings suggest Five Star Threat Level, requiring Eight Trainers to subjugate. Subject in question is Gengar, Poison/Ghost, and appears to be experienced in trickery. Assistance requested immediately.) Signups will be open until August 8th or all slots are filled, at which point a 48 hour period will pass before the thread goes up. |
