Mareanie is probably my favorite Water-type, and has got to be the cutest thing ever. I need a Mareanie in Fizzy Bubbles.

I've loved its design since its TCG Leaked and tbh it and Cutiefly have my favourite designs this Gen. Can't wait to get one when I decide to PASBL again Also having gone over some stats for my planned ingame team Jesus christ Minior is fucking ridiculous. That thing is guaranteed OU. So glad it isn't trash but still also shiny minior is fabulous and i must have it |

What about Minior is trash
(Outside weak to priority) Its immune to statuses above 50% HP and has 100 Defenses, meaning it can easily set up a Shell Smash or two, and below 50% HP it can sweep Its Movepool is prett6 diverse and is only really lacking Flying Type STAB, which it honestly doesn't care about too much in terms of coverage It can go mixed easily too since it gets Power Gem. Also Shiny Minior is best Gen VII Shiny |

Minior is really solid but its very much like Cloyster: it excels at one thing and one thing only and is pretty terrible otherwise. I suspect it'll fit solidly into UU, honestly.

Yes but unlike cloyster it's immune to status which is what potentially elevates it to OU.

Not really. Immunity to status doesn't really make it a game changer. It's going to come in on things that it can scare out, usually by threatening a revenge kill, and then boost up. Walls that commonly use status, such as Rotom-W, Mega Sableye, and Toxapex all handle it with ease because of their solid bulk, typing, and the ability to hit Minior hard. In addition, Minior is very lackluster against offensive teams who will snipe it easily. Not to mention that because of Pelipper DrizzleSwim is back in full force and Minior has serious issues defeating Pokemon like Mega Swampert or Feraligatr.
Like, its really good, but OU is just not kind to it and it will probably be UU.

I guess that a lead in question on how viable are the new Pokemon, move, abilities and so on in competitive Pokemon? While I've yet to play the game as by 3DS is busted and I don't have the money to get a new one, I've been reading up a bunch about Sun and Moon. The Pokemon of this gen seem rather slow on average which doesn't bode too well. Which gen 7 pokemon do you think are viable in OU? Are Z-moves as meta-game changing as Megas were? Are some abilities powerful enough to make up for lackluster stats, such as Dazzle Bruxish? Any new strategies going to be showing up?

New mons: At higher tiers, I think the UBs are likely to be the only ones with much real presence. Most Alolan mons suffer from either bad typing, bad movepools or just poor stats.
Z-Moves: The only time I think you'll see Z-moves are on Pokemon that are already coming in to blitz things. They'll certainly punch holes, but in reality I doubt they'll see much usage because the usual item sets aren't one-shot nukes that then leave you holding a useless item. New strats: They seem to be pushing terrains and weather again with new setters for all, and what with the relative plethora of Hail-reliant abilities and moves, I can see Hail teams coming into the picture. Rain teams will likely make a return because Pelipper, and as I think someone's mentioned before, RaiKoko in doubles is downright bonkers.

I still stand firm that Z-Conversion Porygon-Z is crazy.

Holy shit this game is so good. Just arrived on Ula'Ula Island (after doing some serious backtracking and such) and I'm really happy with my squad.
Decidueye Toucannon Charjabug Oricorio Lycanroc Salazzle All Level 36. I haven't decided what kind of Oricorio I want yet but this looks like the final squad. Besides evolving Charjabug, which I know is location-based but I have no idea where lol.

That said I'd personally Sash it, considering it really does not care about the Defense drops. It gets outsped before it uses it, and afterwards sits at the right speed tier where the only notable thing to outspeed it is Mega Manectric, and gets OHKO'd by Priority wether or not its defenses drop, especially considering it mostly wants investment in its offenses and hp. also solarbeam and rock typ8ng means it works decentlt on sun teams and can counter opposing suns Anyway, on the viability of Gen VII in general, I'm fairly sure that it suffers the same thing the last few Gens had, and that is that most Pokémon are one-trick ponies. Toxapex for example is great defensively, but unlike Ferrothorn is bad at actually doing Damage, and will most likely be unable to stall very succesfully due to its total lack of offensive presence. but why do I even care lol I only LC and Cutiefly is awesome there and that's what counts |

I'm not sure if they're horrifying so much as they are just honest.

See the thing is Shell Smash doesn't force you into Shields Down mode, so you can keep the defenses and status immunity after Shell Smashing. Granted, I've been able to box it into Mega Pinsir Quick Attack kill range before it's able to do massive damage like every time, but doing that effectively usually requires at least one thing to die, so that's a thing to consider.

Can I propose that this thread be used to talk about story spoilers for those who have finished/reached a certain part of the game and they want to talk about it?
