They used to be a thing prior to the Fizzbylution (which is a whole other can of Wurmple in and of itself), and when we were working out how things would or wouldn't change, Trainer battles always kinda took a backseat, they were never really a priority compared to zone and other issues that came up. I'm hoping we get to them eventually- I for one am very much interested in them returning someday.

From what I've seen, Trainer Battles are a lot more game-like, what with math required and stuff. The battles that go on in Secret Bases and zones are a lot more free-form, because there's no HP limit, and energy generally isn't a thing. And in Trainer Battles, I don't think I've seen anyone do anything like block an attack with their own attack, as the referee decides how the battle will play out. (It should be kinda unfair that dodging counts as a move. In my opinion, all Pokémon should at least try to dodge, by default, even if not ordered to do so.)
I'm a little interested in this kind of battling, to be honest, because there usually isn't any bias towards yourself in how the battle will play out.

The trainer battles system was iirc basically just something old fizzby "borrowed" from ASB. It's awkward at best and nobody can really be bothered to readd it because frankly this isn't ASB. If you want to have a look at ASB, I think it migrated to Discord so there's probably an invite floating around somewhere.

I don't really think the PASBL is true ASB. The Trainers could literally just type their orders with no flavor text. That's not much different from in-game battles.

They could, yeah, but that largely paints them as a bit more on the boring side as writers and/or tacticians. A lot of people put at least a little bit of flair into their orders, with there being more than a few cases of attempting to use the battlefield's features to one's advantage. I, for example, have blown up a chandelier, tossed an enemy off a pirate ship to severely throw off their aim, and attempted to force a foe to swallow a bit of the giant, poisonous cake we were fighting on by slamming them face-first into the ground (said attempt unfortunately failed). Between that angle and the sheer amount of meticulous detail that went into codifying what a pokemon can naturally do as a species beyond just what moves it learns (beedrill and vespiquen being able to connect via hivemind, for example), simply running with an "order, go" take all of the time just wasn't taking full advantage of the options you have available.
Besides, how often are orders in the anime just [Pokémon name], use [Attack]!"? If memory serves, it's a pretty common occurrence even there. |

I'd like to know people's answers to this question: in general, how active are you to try and obtain things that are on your Memakyu?

Fairly active, I would say. I'm quite active in FB just in general, of course, and anything on my Memakyu is obviously a pretty high priority. Pretty much I just do what I do, and if I see a chance at something on my Memakyu, I go for it. Saving up my watts for either a Mimikium Z or a Dracovish right now, actually.

Okay. I have to choose wisely for what on my Memakyu to breed this year, because I only have one slot left. I'm saving up my Watts for either a Lucarionite or a Waterium Z.

Already burned through all my breeding slots for the year. First two went towards a Psychic Egg that resulted in Perform (Terri's Mr. Mime), and the other two went towards breeding Jangmo-o and Applin, both of which ended up with Willa. So that was two Memakyu mons taken care of- the Mr. Mime was more of a vague idea I'd had a while back that I simply saw a good opportunity to make a reality.
I already have one plan for when 2021 rolls around- Perform and Roxie (Keith's Amped Form Toxtricity) are gonna breed me a baby Toxel. In fact, that reminds me, I actually have a Visionary Glade post I want to start on, as well as a shop to update! |

Gonna use this as a place to hyper feed my Pichu, Lucas.
Raising his level from 1 to 25 using 24 Rare Candies. Then going to evolve him into a Pikachu, since his Bond is at 50. Then using this Thunder Stone to evolve him from a Pikachu into a Raichu Then I'll be using my Ash Cap Pikachu Plushie, TR Liquidation, TR Hyper Voice, TR Outrage, TR Stone Edge, TM Return, TR Throat Chop, TR Energy Ball, TM Dazzling Gleam, TR Dragon Pulse, and TM Cut to teach him Thunderbolt, Liquidation, Hyper Voice, Outrage, Stone Edge, Return, Throat Chop, Energy Ball, Dazzling Gleam, Dragon Pulse, and Cut. As posted earlier, he is Max Bond.

Hey y'all.... It's been so long since I was last on this website....... Like maybe a year or two..... Hopefully a few people remember me. I'm trying to backtrack what I've been doing to see if I can pick up where I left off or just start over, lmao.
Hope everyone's well!

Yup, with the world in lockdown I figure there’s no better time to revisit FB. I’m really digging a lot of the changes around here, you’ve done a great job at implementing the recent game mechanics.
I’d appreciate a link too as the last one I was given expired ^^;

I believe I used to be on the Discord server, but I'm not there anymore for some reason. I'd appreciate the help!
Also, hi MM!!! Thank you!

I think I was still there during the huge change in 2017, but I became less active as I was working towards finishing college. Now I'm part of the working class and I somehow have more free time on my hands? Lol. The quarantine's been a factor for me too.

Glad to see some old players coming back! I joined last December, so hello!
Things have changed a lot even since I joined. For one, there's Gyms at Power Spots, and all the Gyms hold Max Raid Battles every month (but if you want a Zephyr Valley Gym Raid Battle this month, I'm afraid you'll have to wait; I hope whatever comes out after Togekiss will be worth the wait!). We get all kinds of rewards from these, including Watts (a new currency), TRs, weakness Berries (if that's what they're called), and levels. In fact, the number of levels gained is the number of stars in the level of the Raid. Wow, this year there are a lot of returning players, huh? Now we have a lot more players than when I joined, which is honestly not that long ago.
