Sneasel Le Marécage Noir: The Black Bayou

CLOSED TO NEW ENTRANTS

Le Marécage Noir: The Black Bayou

Known as the 'Black Bayou,' Marécage Noir is a series of wetlands on the north western tip of Fizzytopia, which includes marshes, swamps, and even a thicket of mangroves which stand between Marécage Noir and the coastline. A wide variety of Pokémon call the relatively untamed wilderness home, while a city stands at the heart of it all, known far and wide as a bastion of revelry and sin.

La Ville des Farceurs et Voleurs - The City of Jesters and Thieves
The City of Jesters and Thieves, as it has come to be known, is a place of celebration and a place of woe. Often alight with festivals, the city is a place where good food, good drink, and fine company can easily be found. Be wary, however: there is no shortage of crime here. Pickpockets and thieves roam the streets looking for easy marks. Gamblers and con artists are eager to take the unsuspecting for all that they have. Perhaps because of the constant excitement and trickery, Psychic Pokémon gather here, feeding on the energy of winners and losers alike. The constant excitement is enough to turn anyone on their head. Will you try your luck here, at la Ville des Farceurs et Voleurs? Please reply in Goldenrod.
Le Cimetière des Cœurs Oubliés - The Graveyard of Forgotten Hearts
They call it the Graveyard of Forgotten Hearts, and very few dare to visit it these days. A few miles outside of the city proper, it was once the place where most of the citizens of Marécage Noir interred their dead -- until the tragedy. One night two young lovers stuck into the cemetery and -- burdened by the knowledge that their feuding families would never give blessing to their union -- hung themselves in the branches of the largest tree on the grounds. Now abandoned and derelict, it serves as little more than a horrible reminder to the people who call Marécage Noir home. The gates stand unlocked and the graves, all of them above ground in family mausoleums, are mostly unkempt and abandoned. Many of the stone structures are covered in a thick bed of moss. Ghost-type Pokémon are drawn to the despair which permeates these grounds, and some even say the heartbroken couple still wanders, looking for the peace never afforded to them in life. Please reply in IndianRed.
Le Manoir des Mensonges - The Manor of Lies
The natives say it's the 'Manor of Lies'. It's stood on the edge of la Ville des Farceurs et Voleurs for hundreds of years. Legend holds that a wealthy matron once owned it, and lived deep within its many chambers with her beloved twin Liepards. No one can say for sure what happened, but it's rumored that one day, a pair of delinquents took her beloved Pokémon and did something truly cruel, never to returned. The story does not stop there, however, for they say soon after the teenagers fell ill and died; the city -- then just a village -- revolted on the woman, certain she must have cursed the boys in revenge. Burned at the stake, some say she rose from the ashes right there in the town square and returned to her house, which was never sold, for no sensible person would wish to live in such a cursed abode. It sits now, in surprisingly sturdy condition, mostly untouched from all those many years ago. A popular spot for thrill-seekers, dark-type Pokémon seem to have taken to the ambiance and are in no short supply in this cobweb-filled, musty old manor. Some even say the old woman still lives, deep inside the twisting hallways and innumerable rooms... Please reply in Teal.
Le Marais Sacré de Celebi - The Sacred Swamp of Celebi
Marécage Noir is shrouded in dark clouds seemingly endlessly, but there is one place for which the sky is always clear: the sacred swamp of Celebi. Though the water is dark with tannins, it doesn't ever seem to stagnate. It's cool to the touch, with a pleasant, earthy smell. Thick trees, seemingly older than time itself, grow from its dark depths, with gnarled trunks and twisty roots which jut up at odd angles. Here, a plethora of Pokémon can be found of all sorts of types; Bug, Flying, Grass, Water -- even some Poison types call this ethereal swamp their home. The sun is seemingly always shining here. Named for the Mythical Pokémon Celebi, there is a legend that this area thrives so beautifully in such an otherwise dark and murky place due to the influence of the Time Travel Pokémon, and that causing harm to the sacred swamp will result in bad fortune. Locals often bring offerings of food in respect to the land and to Celebi, hoping for blessings and good favor, and even perhaps a chance to meet Celebi itself. Please reply in SpringGreen.
Où les Palétuviers se Rassemblent - Where the Mangroves Gather
Simply known as 'where the mangrove trees gather', this innocuous sounding area on the coast is not for the uninitiated. A wall of mangrove trees stand between the wetlands of Marécage Noir and the sea, but the tide is unforgiving and the storms are frequent. Locals advise against visiting without at least a strong water-type on hand, but foolish people have done foolish things. Here, powerful Water-types can be found, some of them quite ancient and quite territorial. Cases of whirlpools appearing have been rumored, though the cause of which is unknown. There have been a number of deaths here of unprepared trainers who underestimated the ferocity of the seas on the other side of the mangroves; caution is advised. Please reply in DeepSkyBlue.
Château du Roi Fou - Castle of the Mad King
Legends say that over a thousand years ago, Le Marécage Noir was a very different place - a vibrant land ruled by a gracious King from his extraordinary castle in the valleys to the north of the region. One dark day, the King suddenly became consumed with insatiable greed and gluttony. Ultimately, his envy consumed him, and his self-destruction became the catalyst of a great calamity that changed the course of Fizzby history. Now just a memory of an era long forgotten, the Castle of the Mad King has weathered the tests of time, offering sanctuary to Steel-types and some Dragon-type Pokemon - the latter of which they say are rarer, but are drawn to the Mad King's energy that still lingers to this day... Please reply in SteelBlue.
Les Catacombes des Abattages Sombres - The Catacombs of the Dark Ruination
The Catacombs are a vast and ancient network of man-made tunnels and caverns that span a large portion of the Black Bayou’s underground. Long ago, this large, dark labyrinth was used as a final resting place for both people and Pokemon alike, their skulls and bones lining the walls and ceilings of this dreary maze of darkness. Today, a small section of the catacombs under The City of Jesters and Thieves has been turned into a tourist attraction, but a recent discovery has found that at least over 95% of this subterranean labyrinth has been untouched by human hands for hundreds of years. Aside from rumors of gateways to other realms, a recently discovered apocalyptic prophecy, and the Ground and Ghost-type Pokemon that now call this nexus of tombs home, what lies down here is a mystery literally shrouded in darkness. It would be wise to bring a Pokemon who can be a source of light… Please reply in DarkMagenta.

“You must be feeling quite at home here, aren’t ya, Iskra?” The young Shuppet giggled with glee in response. It was the first time Duke had taken her to a proper graveyard, and while she had plenty negativity to feed off from back at home given the daily bickering between the dragon tamer’s Sceptile and Seviper, it paled in comparison to the sheer tragedy of death that permeated every square inch within the area. It would do nicely, Duke had thought. He had almost no experience raising Ghost-types, but he figured if Marion, a specialist on ghosts, could do such a great job with her Dragonite, then perhaps raising a Shuppet would be within the realm of his own possibilities too, and maybe in the process he would gain some sense of insight and understanding as well.

It wasn’t all for the sake of his Shuppet however. Legends told of the unfortunate though almost poetic death of a young couple, doomed by their own families to suffer under the spell of a forbidden love. It was an archetypical story, which is what made it so relatable, and though the graveyard has long since been abandoned, its echoes would still ripple across the ages. Heartbroken souls... What would it take for them to find a reprieve from torment? Perhaps if he were to look further into it, he might find some answers regarding the troubles of his own heart. Just perhaps…

BOOP!

The young Shuppet startled Duke right up on his face, vying for his attention and urging him to follow along. There were just so many places that were calling her name. Over here! No, wait, down south! Scratch that, it’s thaddaway! It has to be thaddaway!

“Hah! You really are like a child in a candy store!” Duke chuckled in amusement. “Well then, lead the way. Take me to where the unknown beckons, and we’ll see how expensive that candy of yours is.”

(Active party: Shuppet, Axew, Seviper)

Walking through the dense forest the young pink-haired trainer breathed deeply. She had forgotten just how much being in nature relaxed and calmed her. Her reverie was disturbed by the sound of her pokemon rushing by her. A sentret was being playfully chased by a deerling. While walking by his trainer was an empty eyed seedot. The seedot looked up at it's trainer and echoed the sigh wich in turn echoed throughout him. The female stopped and scooped up the small acorn-pokemon. She craddled him close and tears formed around her eye. The pink-ette shook her head and looked up "Guys, please stay close. We don't know what's in here?"[/i]
The Sentret was the first to return and shrugged as an exscuse. This Sentret was called Don't Touch me. It seemed like an odd name but it was inspired by the Japanese name 'Otachi'.
Next over was the Deerling Oisín and he smirked and trotted over to the group. Imeadiatly DTM started squabling with the baby Deer pokemon.
Their trainer was, less than happy. She grabbed both of their pokeballs in warning. All of a sudden the two made up like nothing happened.
Kawaii blinked and thought for a momet about what just happened. She shrugged and said "Must be Celebi's influence"
She smiled lightly and mused about why she was here.
For one, she was always looking for new party pokemon. However, she was also quite interested in the legends and myths. The pink-eette also hoped that while they were there they could maybe find a cure for whetever made the seedot hollow and broken.

"This doesn't look like any festival I've ever been to." Patches repeatedly looks back and forth from the map in her hand and then at the large manor before her. "According to this map this is definitely the place though..." What she doesn't know is that the wrong place had been marked on the map this entire time. Of course, the Eevee named Kiku that had been walking beside her all day knew from the very start, since he's the one who marked it. Kiku isn't very fond of festivals so he just decided to erase the original mark and replace it with one he made randomly and couldn't wait to see where it would take them.

"Eeee." Kiku yawns and acts innocent. However, the Pikachu named Mio that has been riding on Patches shoulder all day knows that yawn all too well. "Pika!" Mio glares at Kiku who immediately proceeds to give her a mischievous grin. "It's just that festivals usually have a lot of people don't they? And aren't they usually outside?" Patches had put the map away and is now just staring at the dark abandoned manor in confusion. "Pikachu! Chuuu!" Mio begins to explain to Patches that Kiku messed with the map. Unfortunately for Mio, Patches only seems to accurately understand what she's saying about 20% of the time. This time, was not one of the 20%. Patches slams her fist into her palm as she finally puts all of the pieces together. "Wow Mio you're right! It should have been obvious to me from the very beginning!" Mio proceeds to nod in agreement once her trainer has made it known she knows this was all Kiku's fault. "Yes! Like you said, there is obviously a special underground festival that is being held in the basement of this manor! This is going to be so cool! I've never been to an underground festival before!" Patches begins to sprint toward the doors of the manor.

"Piii!?!?!!" This is not even close to what Mio had said. In fact, Patches is currently doing the complete opposite of what Mio wants to be doing, just how oblivious can her trainer be? This place has done nothing besides give off some seriously creepy vibes ever since they've arrived and now Patches is literally sprinting to get inside of it. It's clear that Patches hasn't been feeling what Mio has been feeling this entire time. The closer they get to the doors, the more unsettled Mio gets. It's almost as if an unknown aura is telling her that they really shouldn't be there. "Chuuu!! Chuuuu!!" Mio tries to stop her trainer but once Patches makes up her mind about something it's just no use. Meanwhile, Kiku is in front of Patches leading the way while occasionally looking back with a huge grin on his face. "Shhhh!! Mio you're yelling in my ear! I know you're excited but I'm running to the doors as fast as I can since I'm trying to race Kiku and he's clearly winning!"

Kiku abruptly stops just outside of the doors and Patches stops there soon after. "Looks like you won, Kiku." She leans down and pets the proud little Eevee on the head. "Alright! Lets waste no more time!" She loudly bursts through the doors and shouts "To the festival!!" and storms her way into the manor.

Kawaii: A swamp. Usually the name implies something murky or disgusting lurking below it's depths. However, you're determined on this day. The locals don't seem to fear this swamp, beyond bringing gifts and other such offerings for Celebi in order to bring themselves good tidings and blessings. You feel calm in the swamp, you can't tell if it's just the beauty of nature or perhaps something a little bit more interesting... such as the blessing of the time-travel Pokemon.

Now your Pokemon --- well they don't really seem interested in the scenery, besides your broken and hollow Seedot, who sticks particularly close to you. Your Deerling and Senret however, are running rampant all throughout the dense foliage. You, being a concerned trainer, shout for them to stop. This certainly isn't the place for tomfoolery, someone could trip on a gnarled root and get hurt. That certainly wouldn't do if you wanted your little darlings in fighting form. Besides, the swamp itself seemed rather quiet besides the chatter of your Pokemon. It was almost eerie in a way, as the silence seemed to echo louder with every move you made.

Your Senret, dubbed DTM, was the first to scamper back. She puffed out her chest, shrugging with contempt after being scolded by her trainer. It was obvious that she really wasn't listening and would much rather have a good time running through the trees. Your Deerling was the next to return, trotting over with a smug smirk resting upon his face. DMT looked less than impressed, picking a fight with the small deer Pokemon, raising her voice as he approached. At this point, you feel rather upset, you wished the two would just stop their bickering and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Well, if they weren't going to stop, there was an easy quick fix. You readied both of their Pokeballs only to observe that the two had seemingly made up without your influence. You were, of course surprised. Maybe they sensed your disdain? Or maybe, just maybe they were influenced by the forest guardian.

Your visit today wasn't exactly the most typical. You had no gifts for the guardian, however you were searching for answers. You were extremely interested in folklore and legend, and you thought that maybe someone might be able to tell you why your Seedot was the way it was. It was a small glimmer of hope in learning the small creature's past, but you hoped that if you could meet the forest guardian it may enlighten you.

Deep in thought, you barely notice the creature reaching into your bag. Your Senret notices it first, giving a shriek of dismay to which your attention is immediately drawn. You don't exactly get a good look at the bandit, certainly not enough to give a proper police sketch if prompted. Your Senret tugs on your pants, pointing in the direction that the bandit had run off in. You know one thing for sure... and that is that judging by the footprints, this thing was no man... but rather, some sort of Pokemon! Your Senret seems intent to follow the culprit of this attempted robbery... what do you do?

Patches: Your destination seemed off, you had wanted to attend one of the brightly lit festivals nut instead you were faced with a large decrepit manor sitting in your wake. Something felt wrong, but you couldn't quite place it. Little did you know, your sinister little Eevee, who wasn't exactly a fan of festivals had altered the map purposely, leading you to wherever you are now. Perhaps it was done out of spite, or maybe the young Eevee just wanted to explore. Whatever the case, your destination had been altered drastically.

Your Eevee feigns innocence, but your Pikachu knows this act all too well. She glares at the Eevee, who's only response is a large smirk. He knows fully well what he's done, and he certainly isn't about to fess up to it. In his eyes, he hasn't done anything wrong, besides save the both of you from the wretched clutches of that festival. Meanwhile, oblivious to your Pokemon, you are still baffled. Festivals usually take place outside... so why was this one being held in a manor? It still seemed so odd. Your Pikachu tries to explain the truth as best as she can with her inability to speak in a language you understand, she assumes you understood what she was attempting to tell you. But rather, you assume the opposite, and run headstrong into the strange manor. If the party isn't out here, it has to be in the basement of the manor, right?

As you push on the large double doors at the entrance of the manor, they swing open with ease, almost as if someone was welcoming you into the house. The doors make a small clanging sound as they bounce off the walls closest to them. You glance around, the manor is dusty, filled with cobwebs, and appearing as though no one has been inside of it for years. There's some awful smell coming from somewhere, but your nose can't place which area of the manor it's coming from. Oddly, despite the dust and the cobwebs, the lights seemed to have turned themselves on as you arrived. Maybe the jesters of the festival were waiting for you to arrive? It seemed like an odd sort of greeting, not actually showing themselves but opening the door and letting you in. But, maybe that was just part of the fun. Almost like a hide and seek game.

Your first goal is obvious, find the basement of the manor. If your assumption was correct, the festival should be some sort of interesting underground festival below the manor. Unfortunately, you aren't exactly sure where the basement could be located, considering how many rooms you were already able to observe as you walked in. You decide to go towards the left hallway first, it seemed like a cold air was coming from that direction, perhaps from a basement door that was left open. As you walk in that direction, you swear you hear some sort of noise, and that smell from earlier is getting stronger. As you approach one of the many doors you notice some sort of smoky tint upon the outside of the door, along with deep gashes on it's surface. It almost looked like someone, or something was attempting to claw it's way into whatever room that was. Taking a deep breath, you also realise that this is the room that the smell was coming from.

Part of you wants to open the door and see what's beyond it, but the other half certainly wants to steer clear of it... What do you do?

Kawaii snapped into trainer mode as DTM squeeled and pointed after a thief that had dissapeared before it could steal anything. She ordered her pokemon to her side and they jumped to attention, except for her seedot named Tengu who sighed eerily in her hand. "Okay everyone, be on gaurd. We don't know what kind of pokemon we are dealing with yet." As they catuiously walked forward the pinkette mused over what kind of pokemon could be found here. It was a swamp so mostly poison, grass or water types. She had no idea what they could be facing. Her first thought was a Scraggy but she had no clue as to why she thought that.
Tengu sat Idly in his owner's hand. Inside a flicker of life flared. Though he may never truly have what he was supposed to be alive inside him. He may still grow up to be a strong and powerful pokemon. This thought floated around inside his body before hooking on and fueling more sparks of life and he actually moved a bit. The only other time this had happened is when he had first come out of his pokeball at a bar. That time he had been able to find his true name and that had given him the power to move, but for only a moment. Maybe here in this blessed place he would find the power to move perminatly. He could certainly feel the energy of Celebi stirring his empty body back to life.

"Ughh!!" Patches groans as she squeezes her nose. Her Pikachu Mio is frantically searching for her pokeball so that she can return herself to it. Patches pulls Mio away from the pokeball and places her back on her shoulder. "Oh come on, if I have to put up with this then so do you." The smell is almost unbearable yet for some reason Kiku seems completely unfazed and actually appears to be having the time of his life while running up and down the hallways. 'This place is so dusty and that smell is horrible! I feel bad for the people running the festival. They must be so busy that they haven't been able to clean up their house. I guess this just means that I should help them!' after thinking about it for a while Patches decides that she should help and reaches into her bag and pulls out a napkin. "Until I find their cleaning supplies this napkin will have to do!" She gets to work swiping at cobwebs and wiping away dust while also trying to find the source of that smell.

She suddenly feels a chill coming from the left hallway. When she glances over she can see Kiku happily prancing down that particular hallway without a care in the world. 'That has to be where the festival is, but I haven't finished cleaning yet!' She quickly follows after Kiku to make sure he doesn't go to the festival without her. "Kiku!! You need to wait-" She is cut off by a sudden noise and is beginning to feel nauseous since the smell seems to be getting even stronger. Kiku has stopped outside of a door so she quickens her pace in order to catch up with him. Once she reaches the door she notices the smokey tint and deep gashes all over it. "Oh, what do you suppose those marks are from? Looks like we're going to have to get them a new door too." She looks at the very overused mangled napkin in her hand and sighs. 'It would seem that cleaning this place is going to be harder than I thought.' The nausea is starting to become too much and she gets ready to take a seat on the floor but stops when she realizes that the smell appears to be coming from behind that door. Kiku puts his little paws on the door and glances back at Patches with a pleading look. Mio immediately jumps down next to Kiku and begins to protest. "No, Mio. Kiku's right, if we're going to get this place clean then the most important thing is taking care of that smell." Kiku gives Mio that devilish smirk and Mio has just about had it with him. Patches, having made up her mind, is now reaching for the doorknob so that she can attempt to get into that room.

Simply known as 'where the mangrove trees gather', this innocuous sounding area on the coast is not for the uninitiated. A wall of mangrove trees stand between the wetlands of Marais Noir and the sea, but the tide is unforgiving and the storms are frequent. Locals advise against visiting without at least a strong water-type on hand, but foolish people have done foolish things. Here, strong Water-types can be found, some of them quite ancient and quite territorial. Cases of whirlpools appearing have been rumored, though the cause of which is unknown. There have been a number of deaths here of unprepared trainers who underestimated the ferocity of the seas on the other side of the mangroves; caution is advised. Please reply in DeepSkyBlue.
Since returning to Fizzytopia, Gary had heard stories about an area to the north that the locals called ‘Le Marais Noir,’ or ‘The Black Marsh.’ It was an untamed wilderness of swampland where there were rumors of shady dealings and sinful activities taking place. However, this wasn’t what caught Gary’s attention. He had heard of a thicket of mangroves that was supposedly home to a bevy of strong water-type Pokemon.

Despite being advised against travelling to this mysterious mire, the chance to study some strong marine life in such an inhospitable environment was too great to turn down. The final warning Gary had received was that trainers who travel to this area better have strong water Pokemon on hand, or else they might not be able to handle the raging whirlpools, so he made sure he brought all of his water Pokemon for this particular journey.

Also accompanying Gary on this expedition was his trusted Ninjask Shuri, one of the first Pokemon he had met on his journey to become a Pokemon trainer. Shuri and Gary had been through many battles together, and the speedy cicada was an adept scout; darting amongst the trees before returning to her trainer’s side every few moments. Whenever she got tired she would perch on Gary’s back. The deeper the two travelled into the marsh, the warier Gary became of any dangers lurking below the depths.

Kawaii: After your Pokemon had spotted the thief, you went into full fight or flight mode. Although your Pokemon had been mildly disobedient before, they jumped to your side upon being summoned. Your Seedot --- Tengu, on the other hand, simply remained in your arms and gave an eerie sigh. Even a stranger could tell that something was most certainly off with the creature, but almost no one could give a reason for it's aliment. You ordered your Pokemon to be on guard, although you had no idea what this attempted thief was at the moment, you knew for certain that thieves were indeed not very good people or Pokemon.

You continued trekking through the swamp, a little more cautiously than you had been before. Thoughts swirled through your mind as to what this Pokemon could be, you knew for certain that various poison, grass, and bug Pokemon called this place their home. However, none of the Pokemon that flickered into your mind fit the description of a theoretical thief. Part of you assumed that it might be a Scraggy, however, the more you thought about it... the more foolish the thought seemed. You brushed it away, glancing down at the Seedot in your arms. You knew that even though life flared inside the acorn Pokemon, it was seemingly empty and dull. You prayed to yourself that one day he may be able to become a strong member, grow up and be able to actually move and walk on his own. The thought of this even fuelled the small Seedot, he had high hopes that maybe in this blessed place he may be able to be filled with life through Celebi.

As you progressed through the blessed swamp, every small noise had you on edge. You were frightened of whatever lurked in the shadows, that thief could be anywhere you looked, he could be sneaking up on you right now.. That thought made your hair stand on edge, you turned around quickly, only to observe nothing. You knew your nerves were getting the better of you, you had to remain calm in order to not put the rest of your team on edge. Your Senret puffed out her chest, ready to defend you, Tengu, and Oisin if worse came to worse. You smiled at the thought, it was admirable to see such bravery from her. Your walk continued at a brisk pace, until you heard something from behind you.

"Kukuku..."

It was a strange laugh, the only other noise you could hear in this odd swamp. You turned quickly, finally getting a look at your tormentor. It was a hunched over frog of some sort, blue skin and puffed out cheeks. It laughed once again, glancing at the Seedot in your hands. It's yellow eyes seemed to look through you, it knew you were in this sacred swamp and it wanted to know why. It took a step forward, forcing you to take a step back. You were terrified, you knew the Pokemon in front of you could inject poison into you by simply jabbing at you. Those puffy cheeks held all sorts of horrible poison. It looked at you again, taking a running start towards you. You let out a scream, closing your eyes and readying yourself for impact, but nothing came. You opened your eyes quickly, seeing the Pokemon was gone... and Tengu was also missing! When it charged you it must've grabbed him and ran off.

You had to find him! He was probably terrified of that Pokemon... what do you do?

Patches: The smell hit your nose immediately, it was awful. Why would they hold a festival in such a horribly smelling place? Were they so busy with the planning of the party that they hadn't had the chance to clean their home? It was a little pitiable, and you felt as though you must do everything in your power to help the home owners. Your Pikachu, meanwhile, was digging through your bag in a vain attempt to bury itself within it's Pokeball. Your Eevee on the other hand, was seemingly having the time of it's life bounding through the various corridors of the sprawling mansion. You yanked a napkin from out of your bag, wiping away the dust and the various cobwebs that hung from the ceiling. Your first goal now, was to find the source of the smell before attending the party.

A chill resonates through your entire body, you feel it coming from the left hallway. You immediately get a good feeling about that direction, that was probably where the festival was.. but you weren't done cleaning up at the moment. However, your Eevee didn't have a care in the world, it pranced down that hallway, not worried about what you, or anyone else thought of it. As you told your Eevee to be careful, you were immediately silenced by some sort of loud noise, and the smell getting much, much worse. You glance at the napkin in your hand, it's mangled, falling apart, and far too overused at this point to get anything else done with it. As you continue down the hallway, you notice a smoky black door, deep gashes running through it's surface. You immediately think to yourself how much more of a cleaning this place needed, as well as the thought that they'd need a new door. The smell is overwhelming at this point, and the thought crossed your mind very suddenly that the smell must be coming from beyond here. Your Eevee places it's paws on the door and gives you a pleading look, wanting desperately to go inside. Your Pikachu jumps down in protest, but you are determined. If you want to get this place clean, you want to start with the source of that awful smell.

You place your hand on the handle, it seems awfully cold compared to the rest of the building. The smoky black tint of the door would probably make you assume the opposite, as if it had been burnt. As you push the door open, you swear you hear some sort of growling as you enter the room, but you brush it off as you hearing things. You looked around the oddly spacious room, realising two things almost instantly. The first was that it was extremely cold in here, the second was that there were no stairs leading into the basement here. The smell was still present however, and it seemed to be coming from a particular corner of the bedroom. You walked towards it, noticing something on the floor. It seemed to be a bag of... incense? Someone must've been burning it before you arrived, but whatever flavour it was smelt absolutely disgusting. You picked up the bag and pulled out some of the contents, it almost looked like ash in your hand. You shrugged, deciding to take it with you in the hopes of disposing of it.

You looked around once again, seeing a particular painting on the wall above where you found the baggie... had that always been there? You don't recall seeing it when you first walked into the room, but you must've just glanced over it... right? You eye it carefully, noticing it looks like some sort of gem-eyed Pokemon, a large smile resting upon it's face. It looks almost real in a way, it's smile almost chills you in a way. You notice the painting is somewhat crooked, you almost want to adjust it in a way.

The mysterious painting is tilted on it's hinge, should you adjust it to help tidy the house a bit or continue on your way? What do you do?

Though the water is dark with tannins, it doesn't ever seem to stagnate. It's cool to the touch, with a pleasant, earthy smell. Thick trees, seemingly older than time itself, grow from its dark depths, with gharled trunks and twisty roots which jut up at odd angles. Here, a plethoral of Pokémon can be found of all sorts of types; Bug, Flying, Grass, Water -- even some Poison types call this ethereal swamp their home. Named for the Mythical Pokémon Celebi, there is a legend that this area thrives so beautifully in such an otherwise dark and murky place due to the influence of the Time Travel Pokémon, and that causing harm to the sacred swamp will result in bad fortune. Locals often bring offerings of food in respect to theland and to Celebi, hoping for blessings and good favor, and even perhaps a chance to meet Celebi itself. Please reply in SpringGreen.
"The sacred swamp of Celebi," Keith remarked. He preferred to refer to it as this, rather than risk horribly mangling its proper name- Keith was not one for speaking foreign languages very well. Or at least, not human foreign languages- anyone who knew him for more than a little while would surely know of his fluency in Shuppet language. Alas, "Le Marécage Sacré de Celebi" was French, not Shuppet. "What do you think, Meowth?" he asked the Normal-type on his shoulder.

"I'm tinkin' my opinion ain't gonna change much, considerin' we's headed dere already," Meowth pointed out. "But why dis place? It don't sound very poisonous. Youse is more inta places like da Plague Swamp on Venom Island, I thought?"

"Usually, yeah," Keith nodded. "But don't you remember, Meowth? I met Celebi once," he reminded the Scratch Cat Pokémon. "The Forest of Adventure. Remember, she took over the body of a Tentacool who had died because of the feuding between the Tao of Rose and the Tao of Thorn? I told you all about it."

"Oh, yeah," Meowth nodded. "Alright, dat makes sense, den. Ya tink we'll get to see Celebi?"

Keith shrugged (nearly jostling Meowth off his shoulder in the process). "Who can say?" he responded. "Legendary Pokémon aren't exactly the most predictable of sorts. Maybe we will see her- I'd kinda like that. But in any case, I'm thinking we'll do like the locals, bring Celebi an offering. Even if it's not gonna make her show up, I'm hoping she'll accept it as my thanks for the Rose Incense she gave me, and also for stopping that fight before it destroyed the forest," he added.

"Ya gots sometin' wat says tanks fer dat sorta ting?" Meowth inquired.

"Only time will tell, Meowth," said Keith, as he headed onward. "Only time will tell." He had with him a specific berry he intended to give as an offering to Celebi- even if she didn't require his thanks, he wished to give it nonetheless.

Le Cimetière des Cœurs Oublié

Balmund:

There is a sadness which permeates every inch of the cemetery, as if the very soil mourns for the souls interred inside. It creeps into your cones and saturates Iskra; the Shuppet seems to thrive on the misery endemic to this place, flitting about like a young jaybird from place to place as she chases succulent sorrows through the fog. The irony is rich as you appreciate her happiness at the expense of all those who never found peace, but then, the world is hardly fair, is it?

The late evening is cold, and damp. Moss grows on the aging mausoleums. Iskra follows something tantalizing through the branches of a dead Apricorn tree, twisting and winding her way up the gnarled limbs in a meandering, eerie corkscrew. Briefly, you wonder if this is the fabled tree where the lovers took their lives; it's huge, but so are so many. Iskra drifts away from it, now bored; perhaps not. You can't see the sun through the clouds and fog, but you know it couldn't have set yet, as it's neither late nor dark enough. A chilly breeze cuts through the area, catching you off guard. Despite the wind, everything is paradoxically still. You walk slowly, keeping an eye on Iskra.

Passing by a remarkably well-kept crypt -- relative to its peers -- a flash of white catches your attention from your periphery. No, two flashes of white. The first is a paper envelope, pinned with a mental tack to the wooden tomb door. "DUKE" is written on it in bold block print. It seems a dead man shares a name with you. It looks fresh, not yet spoiled by the damp. The other is a paper doll hanging from a nearby tree; a teru teru bōzu. Perhaps someone has grown weary of this dreary weather. It's made of fine white linen, and also looks freshly placed; as soon as Iskra takes sight of it, she becomes curiously incensed, circling it with great enthusiasm. Perhaps she likes the novelty of seeing her own likeness in a doll?

What will you do?

Tate smiled. Pouli cocked her head, curious as to why her trainer wore such an expression. The house before them was old, its paint peeling, its structure tired. A hand came down, and scrubbed at the bony cap on the Houndours head. Pouli leaned into the touch, delighting in the affection.

"They took her Pokémon," the trainer said, slowly, relaying the story of the former owner of the home. Pouli wined. "They came and they took her Pokémon away. So she hurt them, very badly. So they killed her. And now the house is empty."

Pouli looked at the house. She sniffed the air, and pawed the ground. Beside her, Tate exhaled. They both stood together, under the weight of the legend; the sense of loss and the romantic tragedy of dying on behalf of those you loved.

"Let's go inside," Tate finally said. Pouli looked up, her brows knit in apprehension, but her trainer was already walking. Quickly, she moved to catch to catch up. The Houndoomite suspended from the collar around her neck clicked loudly against her exposed clavicle, useless but sentimental.

We endure terrible, marvelous things for the ones we love. Someday, Pouli would learn that.

A few miles outside of the city proper, it was once the place where most of the citizens of Marais Noir interred their dead -- until the tragedy. One night two young lovers stuck into the cemetery and -- burdened by the knowledge that their feuding families would never give blessing to their union -- hung themselves in the branches of the largest tree on the grounds. Now abandoned and derelict, it serves as little more than a horrible reminder to the people who call Marais Noir home. The gates stand unlocked and the graves, all of them above ground in family mausoleums, are mostly unkempt and abandoned. Ghost type Pokémon are drawn to the despair which permeates these grounds, and some even say the heartbroken couple still wanders, looking for the peace never afforded to them in life. Please reply in DarkRed.

Athena walking towards the Graveyard was likely an odd sight to onlookers. The brightly dressed girl, practically skipping along with her partner Pokemon, clashed heavily with the melancholy of Marais Noir. Athena, however, was completely oblivious to being out of place here. She had picked this Zone to travel in as she felt familiar with the Kalosian name. Upon reading about the area, she took note of the Graveyard and the story behind it. Always a romantic, her heart was moved for the young couple. She had cried when they met their untimely end. Her Mawile, Eclair, had just rolled her eyes, knowing her trainer could be pretty dramatic. Eclair was just looking forward to an actual adventure, maybe getting the chance to participate in an exciting battle and level up a bit.

As the two approached the gates of Le Cimetière des Cœurs Oublié, the smile faded from Athena's face a bit. She was more than ready to encounter Ghost Types. After all, they were just Pokemon, and could be defeated or even caught if she ran into trouble with one. The actual graveyard was not what her romantic mind had imagined. The statues adorning the many mausoleums were crumbling, and it didn't look like any of the flowers were fresh, either. She clutched at the bouquet of white roses and cypress she had brought to lay at the gravesite of the couple. Now, she wondered, if she was even able to make it to the gravesite at all.

Duke seemed particularly intrigued at the sight of the envelope bearing his common nickname of choice, and he wondered what where the chances of stumbling unto such a thing, unless there wasn't any chance involved. From his perspective, there wasn't such a thing as mere coincidences - every ocurrance had a reason to be - and perhaps the letter was somehow placed deliberately for him. A part of him, the curious side, wondered what its contents entailed... but he ultimately decided to resist the urge. Shoving his ego aside for a moment, he figured that if the letter was truly addressed towards him, then the sender would've used his full name and title, and given that wasn't the case, it would've been awfully rude to breach its seal without proper justification. Just imagine the kind of secret and intimate affairs that hid within! This "DUKE"... what sort of man was he in life, and would it be really worth it to carry the burden of knowledge? Maybe... no, letters left upon the resting place of the dead where private dealings better left untouched and undisturbed. Duke knew better than this folly.

At the same time, Iskra seemed quite drawn to a hanging paper doll, which seemed to have manifested itself almost simultaneously as the envelope did into Duke's circle of awareness. "My, it seems you've found yourself a little buddy, haven't you?" He cuckled, taking notice of the Ghost-type's antics, though Duke was certain finding a doll in her likeness wasn't all there was to it. After all, there were plenty other plushies back at home, and none tickled her fancy so, at least not that he was aware off. Perhaps there was something she noticed that was beyond his mortal sight. Regardless of what it was, the doll itself made quite a contrast with the surrounding tones of grim and grey, forming a rather interesting composition. The least he could do for now, was to pull out his phone and take a picture for posterity.

The place known as ‘where the mangroves gather’ was dreary and foreboding. You could see why it was ill-advised for anyone but strong trainers to come to this place. Only the most seasoned of adventurers would be able to navigate murky depths such as these.

Shuri darted between mangroves, scouting up ahead, and sometimes disappearing briefly before returning to your side and doubling back around. The sounds of Murkrow and Honchkrow could be heard cawing mischievously in the distance, surely seeking to draw out any easy prey for a late afternoon snack. Occasionally, what appeared to be burrows could be seen underneath deep-rooted mangroves, possibly once housing Sevipers or Ekans - maybe even some Stunky.

You continued to walk forward, deeper into the swampland, occasionally wading into thick knee-high water, hoping to find the sort of Pokemon life this area played host to and to get the chance to study the species who lived here, thriving in their natural habitats.

You began to zone in and out a bit from the backwater trek, when suddenly Shuri appeared in front of you full stop, trying to get your attention - and it worked. The Ninjask zoomed backward, its eyes still fixated on you, hesitating momentarily between a few decaying mangroves. You slowly made your way through the overgrowth of the swampland and over to the treeline where Shuri was waiting, only to see exactly what she had found: A man, laying atop a small pile of broken branches and a mound of mud, unconscious and barely breathing.

Missingno. Master:

The rumors had appeared to be true. The Black Marsh was normally shrouded in darkness, an often dreary and perhaps even uninviting environment to many. The Sacred Swamp of Celebi was different, though - vastly different. As you had heard, life here was sprawling and plentiful. Lush greens, pure waters, and clear skies brought a warm, inner peace to all who entered Celebi’s domain, all of which was vast and abundant here in the sacred swamp.

As you and Meowth wandered down a makeshift pathway through the exuberant woodland, intent on paying your respects to the legend who once lent you assistance, you couldn’t help but notice something odd that stood out to you. Nature here was lively and sprawling - in fact, this was possibly one of the most euphoric and vibrant forests you had ever seen. So, why then, had you found yourself staring at dozens upon dozens of dead, wilted flowers? In fact, the more you analyzed them, the more you realized that it appeared to be spreading to other flowers as well.

The scene seemed like a visual oxymoron. All around you was a bountifully vegetated landscape… although, now that you thought about it, where were all of the Pokemon? Forest life such as this should be overwhelmingly crawling with creatures, should it not? Both you and Meowth seemed both puzzled and troubled by this. It might be best to find the locals and see if perhaps they had any answers as to what might be going on - this was all under Celebi’s protection... right?

134:

The mansion had not aged well, and this became immediately apparent as soon as you stepped inside of the old chateau. Chipped paint was peeling from walls and ceilings in large quantities. Broken floorboards lined the entryway. Cobwebs dangled from the ceilings, threatening to latch onto the face of any potential careless adventurers.

For a moment, Pouli followed a few paces behind its trainer, uncertain of the decrepit old mansion and what was inside, before puffing her chest bravely and quickly catching up. She walked alongside you in lockstep as the two of you made your way inward through what must have once served as a welcoming area.

The Houndour seemed a bit worried. Perhaps something among the musty, stale scent that filled the mansion caught her attention or seemed off. It was hard to say.

The two of you began making your way through the entryway, noting that not only was the place in complete shambles, but that, save a few still-hanging portraits, the facility had been picked clean of all possessions and belongings that may have once been left behind. Nothing really seemed to immediately stand out as you -

SNAP.

Darkness. Total and complete all consuming darkness. Well, mostly, save for the beam of light that trickled in from above, left by the hole you created when you fell through the floor. You probably should have been paying closer attention to the cracked floorboards... but it didn't matter now. That’s all you could comprehend as you opened your eyes, your Houndour having woken you from licking your face worriedly. You needed a moment to collect yourself, and maybe to make sure nothing was broken. How far had you fallen, anyway? Ten, maybe fifteen feet? Thankfully, wherever it was you were now, the floor appeared to be far more solid. Unfortunately, adapting to the situation at hand looked like it was going to be a bit of a chore, and it seemed as though you were now stuck in the mansion for the long haul. Without any immediately apparent way to guide you through the darkness of… wherever you were, it looked like you were going to have to do a bit of deliberating for your next course of action.

It might be best to find the locals and see if perhaps they had any answers as to what might be going on - this was all under Celebi’s protection... right?
Keith headed down the pathway, if indeed it could be called a pathway, happily looking forward to seeing what this sacred swamp of Celebi looked like. And indeed, the scenery was already starting to change, but to Keith's mild surprise, the change was... not what he was expecting, to say the least. "Uh... Meowth?" Keith asked.

"Yes, Keith?" said Meowth, also eyeing the unusual changes in scenery.

"The, uh... the flowers around here... is it just me, or do they look kinda... sorta... dead?" Indeed, far from the vibrant, lush floral setting he'd had in mind, the flowers looked as dead and wilted as every flower Keith had ever received from his Garbodor.

"It ain't just youse," Meowth shook his head. "Dis looks weird fer a place dat's supposed ta be protected by Celebi."

"You're telling me," Keith agreed. "I haven't seen this many dead flowers since Strychnine tried her hand at gardening," he added, recalling his Muk's disastrous attempt at growing flowers.

"And it looks like it's spreadin' to the other flowers," Meowth noted. "Watever dis is, it's gettin' worse."

"Yeesh, you're right... Y'know what, we should seek out the locals," Keith decided. "See if they got any idea what's going on. At the very least they'll have a better idea than we do."

"I'd bet, seein' as we ain't got no idea at all," Meowth agreed as Keith continued onward. Something was clearly very wrong here, and they intended to find out just what. Besides, if it was something Celebi needed help with, there'd be a perfect way to repay her right there, right?

The terrain was less than pleasing to say the least, as Gary waded through some of the murky waters. The trail was hardly cleared and he had to make sure he didn’t trip on any mangrove roots. In the distance Gary could hear the menacing caws of Murkrow and Honchkrow, a foreboding sign. Shuri darted about to and fro, scouting the path ahead the best she could, the Ninjask being Gary’s only true source of knowing where exactly he was going.

“The things I do for knowledge…” Gary mumbled to himself, wondering if this time he had gone too far in his attempt to study new marine ecosystems. Racking his mind about what kind of species live in these mangroves filled his head as he aimlessly plowed forward, using Shuri as his guidance system. It wasn’t until he nearly bumped into the hovering cicada Pokemon that he realized Shuri was trying to get his attention. She buzzed around a few times before slowly leading Gary ahead to something she had found.

Once Gary had caught up, he found what Shuri was trying to lead him to; a man who was unconscious, covered in mud, and barely breathing. “Oh my Arceus!” Gary exclaimed, running up to the man. “Sir! Are you alright? Please wake up!” He nudged the man, hoping to rouse him into consciousness. This was a terrible place to administer first aid, if it was necessary. The best thing in Gary’s mind was to possibly try to airlift the man out on his Tropius, but hopefully it didn’t come to that. He waited to see if the man would wake first.

Kawaii closed her eyes and listened hard. She faintly heard the soft cries of her precious seedot. She imeadiatly took off in the direction of the sound. Her seedot was too important. Her heart was in her throat and her feet thudded along the grassy swamp as she weaved and raced through the trees desperate to reach that theif. Something blossomed in the back of her mind. Maybe the frog like pokemon was trying to help. This didn't exactly stop her, instead it quickened her pace. If this Crogunk had good intentions then maybe it was even worth a spot on her team. That idea thrilled her and she pushed herself hard. Her two other pokemon dashed along side her. Oisín's long legs caried him just as far just as fast with little energy. DTM, meanwhile jumped between trees. This technique let her span long distances in short amounts of time. The two pokemon were all of a sudden serious about the situation. A fellow team-mate getting stolen was very concerning. DTM was not very high leveled but was going to kick the frog-pokemon's butt if it hurt Tengu in any way. The sentret was very close to the little acorn and was helping him regain life as best she could. In fact, the whole team had been pitching in where they could. Oisín had made little glasses that looked like eyes for the seedot. DTM had been picking berries that Tengu liked. Every single effort had made a small flicker in the eyes of the soul-less pokemon.

Tate groaned, mopping saliva and dust from scraped cheeks. Gettin' real fuckin' sick of this shit, Tate thought, absently, mind wandering back to another time the ill-fated trainer had fallen through the floor of a building. A patter was beginning to become established and Tate did not appreciate it it; it was as though the fates themselves had cursed the acrophobic bird keeper -- an ironic occupation in itself -- to a death by nothing less than the worst, most terrifying manner possible. (Well. Maybe third most terrifying way possible. Via fire and via drowning were probably still worse, in Tate's mind. But that was neither here nor there.)

Looking to Pouli, Tate reached out and hugged the hound around the neck, grateful for her safety and for her company. The embrace lasted for a while, and when Tate finally pulled away it was evident the trainer was trying to hold back tears of frustration. Standing, Tate brushed the dust off of the flamboyant clothes for which the Alolan-obsessed Johto native was recognized, stretched, popped as many joints as possible, and looked around the nearly pitch black space, only a few tiny bars of light filtering in from the hole above.

"I guess we're in... the basement?" Tate hypothesized, glancing at Pouli. Pouli made a noise of uncertainty, and pawed the floor. She didn't like this; the old, creepy house, or the accident, or being lost in this dark place. Tate reached down, and scrubbed the top of her head reassuringly. "There's gotta be a staircase around here somewhere. Do you thing you could summon a Will-o-Wisp? We could probably use it as a lantern. Just... don't burn me with it."

Balmund:

You decide against reading the letter; it simply isn't your business. The affairs of a dead man are a burden you are unwilling to carry with you in this lifetime, tempting though the curious coincidence -- or lack thereof -- is. Besides, to see Iskra so taken with the teru teru bozu is rather endearing. You retrieve your phone and snap a photo of her antics for posterity; it flashes a light once to illuminate the scene and then mimics the clicking of a shutter to indicate the photograph was successfully captured, but when the application pulls the image up on the screen for you to review, something is gravely wrong: there is no teru teru bozu. In fact there is no Iskra. There is only the tree, and the cemetery. Some of the structures which are clearly present around you are missing in the photo as well. Bushes and trees stand in their place, as if they hadn't yet been built. The entire scene is blanketed in a thick layer of snow.

Iskra is still circling the teru teru bozu. You look up at her, her fascination with the object still unclear, when something large and wet and very cold strikes your cheek. You wipe it off with two fingers to find the melting remnant of a snowflake; they've begun falling all around you. It's not winter; such weather is bizarre, and well outside the forecast. With each passing second, the snowfall grows heavier and heavier, a rapid chill creeping into the air around you. Iskra cackles with delight, her body colliding playfully with the teru teru bozu; it appears to have grown larger, nearly her size now.

What will you do?

Duke wasn’t particularly surprised by the scene depicted on his phone. He expected as much when dealing with the paranormal, and the revelation only helped confirm the nature of this scene, there were still certain possibilities to consider given the implication suggested by the picture. One, that the picture was a reflection of what was real, and everything else an illusion given form through otherworldly influences. Given Iskra’s nature as a ghost, her disappearance from the picture wouldn’t necessarily contradict this hypothesis, and Duke was already primed to distrust his very sense of perception before stepping into the site. Lords knows how many pranks he had already fallen victim of when dealing with Ghost-types. That said, another possibility would be that the picture wasn’t revealing a truer version of the present, but perhaps a window to the past, and this could possibly explain the lack of structures and the thick layer of snow. He was aware that it wasn’t the time of the year for this kind of weather well before making his way to the gravesite, and thus one could argue its radical change was due to someone’s (or something’s) influence. With the teru teru bozu growing in size with each passing second, it didn’t take long for Duke to relate one occurrence with the other.

His expression grew stern as he stared straight into the paper doll. He spoke assertively. “Who are you? Show yourself!”

If this being was trying relay some sort of message to him, he was more than willing to entertain this little game even further. Yet, if there was malice in its intentions, then he was ready to bark a Knock Off command at the slightest reasonable provocation. Hopefully, it wouldn't come to that, but one can never be too lax.

"I wouldn't do that, were I you," a voice says, from somewhere behind you, as if capable of hearing your intentions to attack the teru teru bozū if you deemed it necessary. You turn, understandably, to see where the words originate from, and find yourself looking into the face of a young woman, with grey-blue eyes and golden blonde hair. Her expression is dull and almost emotionless, save for perhaps the thinnest thread of curiosity woven into her gaze; she doesn't say anything else to you, however, instead walking past you to the continuously swelling doll. Her brown leather boots crunch on the rapidly accumulating snow, and her red wool coat -- layered over a white dress -- rides up at her calves when she reaches over her head and unties the doll from its branch. Suspending it from two fingers, she reaches out with the other hand, and gives Iskra a friendly pat on the head, apparently undeterred by her ghostly nature.

"It's rude to damage other peoples' things," she admonishes, in a weary manner. Meanwhile, the doll has sprouted arms. Two foot long, three foot; it continues to grow and warp in shape, but the young woman doesn't seem disturbed in the least. "Moreover, Yuki isn't a thing. Perhaps she was right. Perhaps all men are the same. Such terrible senses of entitlement. Such terrible cruelty. You take what you want, and then you break it. Were you going to break Yuki, too?"

The teru teru bozū has grown to a staggering four feet, a thick red sash around its waist, and you realize its eyes are no longer painted on, but actually looking at you. With arms that protrude from its own head, it reach up, and giggles into one palm. The young woman releases the string, and it disappears, thick ice crystals erupting from the former doll's head in it's wake; a fully formed Frosslass stands before you, though it makes no move to attack. Rather, it hovers next to its liberator, its laughter echoing like shattering ice.

What will you do?

"Ah, forgive me, milady. Men often commit rash and unreasonable acts in the name of self preservation. But I must insist, l came here with no ill intent." Duke sighed, feeling the chilly cloud of his own breath brush against his face by the wind, and relaxed his guard before this intriguing woman and the Frosslass beside her. While the thinly veiled threat and accusation was cause for a certain amount of tension, the way in which they conduced themselves in such a passive and unthreathening manner, coupled with Iskra's overall amiable disposition towards them, gave Duke reason enough to soften his frame and expression. Not gone unnoticed, however, where the woman's words regarding the nature of men, which Duke interpreted as less a jab towards his persona and instead more of a projection based on experience; an echo of grievances committed in the past. To cruelly take and break... but what, precisely? It was likely a sensitive subject, for sure. Thus, rather than breach the subject right away, he figured a man of his education oughta first try and cover the usual pleasantries.

"Perhaps we may start over? Allow me to introduce myself. I am Balmund. Balmund de Blackthorn. And my partner beside you is the Shuppet Iskra. May I have your name, fair lady?" The inquiry was accompanied by as warm and courteous a smile as he could muster, though behind it hid a question he had managed to hold back. Are you living, or dead? Not that it mattered much, though it could change the dynamic of this encounter. Though it might seem obvious at first glance, one simply can't be too sure while visiting gravesites nowadays...

Balmund:

A wry smile crosses the woman's delicate features, though it's difficult to say whether she's charmed by your pleasantries or amused by your boorish facade. Placing a delicate hand atop her companion's head, she considers the question, as if she cannot quite recall the answer.

"...Amelie," she says, finally, in a slow and laborious manner as if the name were wighty on her tongue. She looks to the Frosslass with a tired expression, beginning to pet her in a fond manner. "My name is Amelie, Mister Balmund. This, as I as I have mentioned, is Yuki. She is quite the darling, is she not?"

For a moment, she seems lost in her own adoration for her Pokémon, though it does not take long for her attention to return to you. "You have fine taste in Pokémon. My father insisted Ghost-types were unbecoming of a lady, but then... Father said a great deal many things."

Offering Iskra one last pet, she ushers her back to her trainer, wry smile growing more genuine. Whatever peculiarities this strange woman hides, it seems she had bonded with you in this very small way already. Pulling her coat around herself, she contrasts against the white backdrop of snow clad in the brilliant red wool, and she pulls so much focus to herself that you almost fail to notice that the mausoleum from earlier -- the one to which the letter was pinned -- no longer seems to standing to your left despite having been there only minutes ago. Amelie does not seem to notice the sudden disappearance.

"Tell me... Mister Balmund," she continues, tone airy, yet languishing. "What brings you here, tonight?"
