Jirachi VGC 2015 REGIONALS

YOOOOOOOO GUYS
VGC REGIONALS ARE COMIN' UP REAL SOON SO IF YOU'RE GONNA DO IT THE-*announcer voice sputters out*

Egh. Anyway, here's a list of when and where the stuff is going down:
St. Louis, MO: February 14–15, 2015, at the St. Charles Convention Center
Portland, OR: February 14–15, 2015, at the DoubleTree by Hilton
Doswell, VA: February 14–15, 2015, at the Exhibition Hall at the Meadow Event Park
Lancaster, CA: February 14–15, 2015, at the Pioneer Event Center
Kissimmee, FL: February 28–March 1, 2015, at the Park Inn by Radisson Resort & Conference Center .

Unfortunately, I think I'll be staying home another year. I've got to work on my 6v6 Singles game before my bring 6 pick 4 doubles game goes anywhere, and even if I did did suddenly git gud overnight I do not have the patience to breed the IVs and moves and nature and abilities and all that jazz, and school only worsens that tieup. But if anyone from UPN is thinking of going out and trying their luck, give us a shout, yeah?

So I believe this is the Winter round so there's still springs ahead if I'm thinking right, so maybe if school isn't on the same days as springs, and there's actually an event in my area, I'll see what I can do if I'm in the mood, but if that's going to be a thing, then we need to start spitballing team ideas. Of course, this can just be a a general thing for everyone's use if they're considering.

You could sign up for Crys' VGC Bootcamp, Myles, where we'll teach you tons of activities to git gud in a few days, with some of the subjects being:

How to be avoid Rock Slides like a pro;
Speed Tiers and things;
Why Mega Kang and Talonflame are garbage;
How to steal build your own team;
Choking in top cut;
and many more fabulous activities!

...Anyhow, I will be attending the Virginia Regionals this Sunday, I pre-registered the moment it was available. Aiming for Top Cut, so with some luck I'll do good. Last 2 regionals I've been to I choked r1 of Top Cut, so yeah...

The Athens ones are usually fun, and there's a few good places around the area. Hope you do well.

Teach me to dodge Heat Waves so I can annoy Talon, haha [/joking]

But no seriously why do either Rock Slide or Heat Wave have 90% accuracy. By nature of what they are they should be 100%.

It's Gamefreak. Giving 100 acc to a flinching move/anything good is too much for their standards. Fake Out doesn't count ;-;

In all seriousness though, if someone wants to learn vgc fast af for the winter events coming up soon i'll be more than happy to teach, or at least guide you in the right direction.

Off topic:

Spoiler: show
>has made the last four or five VGC threads
>forgets about Winter Regionals because not participating, haven't played in months, etc.
>Myles makes post in Showdown thread
>encourages Myles to make stand-alone thread
>thinking, given his dates, he just intends Winter Regionals
>"VGC REGIONALS 2015"

Not crazy about a thread for the entire year, but meh, I'm not the boss. And I guess it's still better than a single thread covering all VGC events for all time would have been. *remembers that laughably greedy "Discuss anything from Kanto thru Sinnoh here " thread made by a newbie several months ago*

Caps lock is pretty obnoxious though. #grump

On topic: I haven't really followed VGC 2015 too closely. I know that Scott opined several months ago that Kangaskhan is still the No.1 most relevant creature to think about when building your team. And I know that a recent European Regionals witnessed Baz Anderson take home the gold for Britain using a genie (Thundurus iirc) and a Muskedeer (Terrakion). But aside from that I really have no clue how well the 2014 teams are holding up, what new strategies have taken root, etc.

Nor do I have any idea who will be in attendance at these regionals. I imagine everyone east of the Mississippi, west of the Appalachians, and north of South Carolina will be eying St. Louis ... but who exactly is in that list, and will they still feel the need to compete after we already had a regional in that same region (it's almost like that's what regionals are meant to be) just a few months ago with the Fall 2014 regional in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

I appreciate the lengths TPCi goes to for us, but man if I don't want more geographic spread more often. Five cities per regional is kinda ass for a country as large as ours. In an ideal world, you'd have one regional every 50 miles over the course of the entire year and one regional in nearly every state every season. (No, Rhode Island, you may not triple dip just because you are tiny. )

Rock Slide has like 10% flinch while Iron head has 100% accuracy as wells AirSlash. Both are given to things with Serene Grace while having 30% flinch, which is stupidly broken in combo.

Shh I'm new here, how am I supposed to know everyone's locations?

As for new strategies @ talons, Tailwind and Tr are pretty big right now, with mainly goodstuff teams dominating. Lots of Sylveons, Lando-ts, Trans, and more. If you want a bigger view on it, some articles on nuggetbridge cover the current most popular mons and what you need to watch out for.
For the number of regionals, more regionals and more spread out ones would be nice, but there's plenty of issues with that. Like one example that people have to be hired, space rented, someone has to volunteer to host it, prizes, and more, and that takes a lot of time and effort, and unfortunately people are lazy. There might also be a limit to how many Nintendo can do.

And Myles, Rock Slide is 30 percent chance, Air Slash is 95% acc, with Iron Head being the only 100% acc you listed. And really the only thing that uses Serene in VGC is Togekiss, so there's that.

Thats still better than Rock Slide with triple the flinch chance on a projectile that should be much easier to dodge than a rock tsunami.

Eh. I was aiming for higher, but I suppose you have a point that 5th is pretty damn good. I'm just used to getting high rankings and so 5th doesn't seem like much to me.

On a completely different topic, after seeing all these different colored texts people were using I decided "fuck it" and tried experimenting with colors in the back of the Bandwagon. What do you all think of this one? (aka how shitty is it / already being used)

Nope. That's pretty much Top 4 only. Though Nationals is open this year, so you don't need an invite to attend. Just really strong will. And a love for Indianapolis.
