I'm not even taking that as ironic. Japan is fucked up on this issue.

*Shrug* it's disgusting, but as far as I can see the point of illegalising kiddie porn is to safeguard the children involved. This, vile and dehumanising though it is, doesn't directly harm anyone.

Disclaimer: That's a troll post and the indignation is faked. It's really apparent in certain parts of the article. Check out some of Mark Twit's other writings.

I wonder what the statistics for physical and sexual abuse against children are in Japan.

I agree with Kush, this is fucked up (and we've known it for a long time)

I think it's only trolling to a point, Doppel. This is a real issue for them.

Yeah I don't know the stats. If actual children aren't being harmed, that's less bad, but still pretty bad.

The factor that ties Hollywood villains together isn't Britishness, it's politeness. Rude Brits get to be good guys. Polite people are almost invariably bad guys in Hollywood films regardless of their nationality. For some reason we're just often the stereotypically polite people (clearly, no Hollywood casting director has ever been on the tube).

I don't think that's quite right either though. Michael Caine has usually been cast as a polite good guy. Anthony Hopkins has as well, his famous Hannibal Lecter being an exceptional exception. The various English actors who played good, polite men in the Harry Potter universe. Patrick Stewart plays exceptionally polite characters and they're almost always good. (Let's forget his Captain Ahab, shall we?) The fact is, while most villains may be polite, politeness does not in and of itself land a Brit a role as villain any more than their Britishness does. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that villains tend to be polite rather than that polite people tend to be villains.

Also: for a solid example of a rude British villain, the late Bob Hoskins' character in Unleashed a.k.a. Danny the Dog. *shudders* My childhood shattered ...

And the Japanese tend to flit about from being crazy polite, crazy insane, or crazy silly. Or all of the above. But then again, we're talking Hollywood. So... *crickets*

記者「オーキドはかせ!ポケモンは151匹じゃなかったんですか!」
記者「プラターヌはかせ!メガシンカ等はカロス地方だけ!と断言されてましたよね?!」

Reporter 1: Professor Oak! Did you not say that there were [only] 151 Pokémon!?
Reporter 2: Professor Sycamore! Did you not declare to us that Mega Evolutions were only [found in] the Kalos region!?
Professors Oak & Sycamore: We did not lie! At that time what we told you was true!

Translating the joke almost feels as lethal as explaining it -- I guess because they're related actions of explanation -- but hopefully you're able to enjoy the joke despite my translation's sterility. (I did at least sacrifice present tense for past tense and passive voice for active voice where strictly required by sensible English.)

Joke very much enjoyed. Besides, I wouldn't know what it was about without translation, so it's kind of necessary anyway. But still, I chuckled.

Hah, I know better than to search Gardevoir. She's so infamous one should already know what one is getting into as the fingers glide across the keys.

One fine day, a donkey was eating grass in the field. While it was busy eating, a racehorse passed by. The donkey being friendly said “Hello there! Would you like to share some food with me?" The proud racehorse came near the donkey. “I do not eat this grass. I'm given special and expensive food every day", said the horse to the donkey. Hearing this, the donkey just looked away and continued eating the grass. The horse then asked, "Don't you get bored eating the same food everyday?" The donkey just smiled and walked away. The horse became angry when the donkey did not answer. He continued, “You are a stupid donkey who works all day". After teasing the donkey, the horse left. The donkey continued eating the grass.

A few days later, the donkey saw some men carrying a horse. Its four feet were tied to a pole. The donkey immediately ran near the horse to find out what had happened. The horse could not race anymore because one of its legs was broken. It would be shot and its meat would be given to other animals as food. The horse begged the donkey to help him. It said, “Please my friend help me! I'm sorry for being so proud the other day. I promise to be humble and not to show off in future. But it was too late, the donkey could only stand and watch.
