Agreed. Litwick's cute and Lampent's pretty cool, but Chandelure always struck me as unnecessarily over-designed. The fact that Chandy gets all of two moves (Hyper Beam and Giga Impact) over Lampent certainly cements it's needlessness in my mind. Still, do enjoy!

Yes, let's completely ignore that base stat gain of 50 to its Special Attack stat. Not worth our consideration, not at all! Lampent's only shy two moves: why bother evolving it?

I'm not a fan of Chandelure's stitched mouth or striped central glass orb myself, but I think it's a very nice evolution concept. Many evolutions gain "more" of something when they evolve. Be it more heads, be it more water, be it more height, be it whatever. In Chandelure's case, it's just one design change -- into a chandelier -- that lends it "more" in a number of ways:

• more appendages (Litwick's stubby two --> Lampent's longer two --> Chandelure's longest two that fork off at the ends)
• more flames
• more civilization (Litwick's candlewax --> Lampent's lamp --> Chandelure's chandelier takes us from the dawn of civilization on into the Bronze or Iron Ages and finally on into the Dark Ages or beyond

There's some subtleties to some (like the technology angle), but it all works. Nidorino is merely spikier and larger. ^^; But Litwick --> Lampent --> Chandelure actually tells a story.

Also, as far as the malevolence of the line goes, how many times have you seen candles or lamps kill someone? But chandeliers? Oh man, the falling chandelier is such a trope! How could they not tap into that for a line so determined to steal men's souls? I mean, just imagine Chandelure as the chandelier here. (Spoilers for the final chapter of the anime Another. Soft spoiler: THERE'S A FALLING CHANDELIER! It's shown in the opening credits, so nothing lost there.)

Oh wow, I forgot how ridiculous that scene ended up being. XD We were all taking bets on who would get hit by it too. Turns out they trolled us by taking out more than one! (And the poor guy who escaped... *shakes head*)

Anyway, to weigh in on the Chandelure debate: I definitely like it as both a design and concept, though I admit Lampent and Liltwick are cuter. That's why I want another Liltwick to keep in his first form, while Patty evolves all the way (I'll be sure to spend some time with her as a Lampent though).

And on the topic of Evolutions: Congrats to all who evolved today!
