TheKnightsFury;

Your Group once again split into two, You went deeper in the Mines with Lily and your Wartortle, her Riolu following close behind. Nothing was special about the mine tunnel you were going down, aside from the fact that there was even more Stones...
As you went ahead you didnt notice when Wartortle picked up a shiny blue stone Nor did Lily notice Her riolu do the same ...

It was not long before you got into a huge cavern with lots of lights blaring, and in the back of the Chamber you noticed three people, and four pokemon.
There was a man sitting on a throne, with a woman in his lap, and a lady next to them holding up tray with drinks and snacks for them.

The woman with the tray had to be Lily's mother, for as soon as she saw her she tensed up with rage, and there was a lucario next to her doing the same but for two of the other three pokemon...

Your eyes drifted to the other three and you saw a male Pyroar, a Sceptile...... And a Diancie.

The Diancie was chained up by diamond chains and the handle was in the mans hands.

" Well... Well... Well, What do we have here?" The mans voice ( rather nasaly it was ) echoed around the chamber

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chimchar and Froakie hitched a ride atop a Conceldurr and started firing off their moves amidst the fray of aura spheres, rock Blasts and other moves
Treecko was fast enough on foot even though camouflaged, and was sniping those he could with Energy Ball, Bayleef brought up the rear focusing its healing pulse to its allies.
Charizard saw your grouping and swooped down and landed to ask where Xander was, and if there was needed ground support or just aerial coverage
The outside encampment was in utter chaos, with the majority of the former captors being chased out and knocked out everywhere. Along your way out you made sure to rush every other gaurd inside, so you could free all the other captives and have them join in the mad escape.
What will you do next?
Wartortle had stashed the Mega Stone before Xander had caught a glimpse of it. It was useless to him at the moment anyways, best he save it for another time. The group were shocked as they entered the final chamber. It was so well lit that they had no trouble seeing what they were up against. A Sceptile and a Pyroar seemed to be the partners of the power couple running this operation. Lily's mother and her Lucario were also present, but they were in no condition to assist. The biggest surprise however, was the Diancie. Xander had heard stories of the Pokemon, even seen some crude illustrations, but seeing it in person was completely different. The Legendary Pokemon was beautiful, but it was also in pain, shackled by these truly foul people.
"Your operation is all but in pieces, best you quit while your ahead." Xander spoke confidently, he knew he wasn't getting out of this without a fight, but he'd prefer it to be on his terms. "Most of the prisoners have been freed and those that aren't soon will be. Your forces have been overwhelmed, let's not make this harder than it needs to be. Let Lily's mother and her Lucario go, free the Diancie and recall your Pokemon." Wartortle stood ready, already planning to fire a Water Spout straight at the Pyroar should things go sideways.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Chimchar, Froakie and Treecko were successfully leading the charge out of the mine. Charizard was quick to rejoin the team, although amidst the chaos it was hard to see where they should head to next. The trio of Chimchar, Froakie and Treecko huddle together, quickly coming up with a plan. They jump onto Charizard's back and cry out for everyone to follow them. They would clear the path ahead, they needed to get everyone outside the walls to safety, then they could burn this place to the ground......

The man listened to you and pondered what you said for a full moment before erupting into laughter, the woman joining him in with her own little laugh.
"You come into my operation, free the people I hired to work and then demand to let go of this little gem here and those two good servants right here as well?
I think not. In fact I'll get everyone back to work and add you along with little miss Lily over there. I'll be generous and let you both be my servants along with her mother here."

The Sceptile then jumped into action and with its arm leaves glowing green it closed the distance to strike, its leaves looking as sharp as Blades, and striking Riolu hard in the chest.
Meanwhile the Pyroar launched a fireball from its mouth to the roof of the cavern, Illuminating the room and making it hot as if it were a Sunny day outside, soon following up with a beam that seemed to be powered by the sun itself

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You sound found everyone and started to direct them out to the outside of the camp, and it wasn't that hard to do but you soon hit a bump in your plans because one of the guards happened to have a Black charizard and they both stood in your way and looked as if they weren't going down with a good fight.
The Charizard rushed at you, his claws glowing as if they were made of metal, and not only was there another Charizard, but there was a Prinplup, Chesnaught and Combusken who were also under the guards control. but it was apparent they were not his, and they were Wild pokemon hypnotized to be under his control.
The Prinplup took off to Chimchar, letting loose a stream of bubbles. The Chesnaught swinging its huge arms like wooden hammers after Froakie. Combusken soon followed with igniting its feet, setting them Ablaze and charging after Treekco.
What will you do next?
"Hired?!" Xander spat, "what I saw was clearly extortion and slavery!" With that the battle was underway, Xander stood his ground and calmly relayed his orders to Wartortle. "Withdraw and Rapid Spin out of the way of that Leaf Blade. Then Water Spout the Pyroar." Xander turned to Lily, hoping she'd do something to keep the Sceptile busy while he tried to exploit their advantage against the Pyroar. Wartortle pulled his head and limbs into his shell, preparing to follow his orders. This was going to be one hell of a fight.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They were nearly there, safety was within reach. One fight stood between them and their freedom. It appeared this would be a battle between Starters. The four Pokemon stepped forward, lining up against their intended opponents. Two Fire types, one Water and one Grass. Their opponents went straight for the type advantage, apart from the opposing Charizard who intended to match itself against Xander's. The Prinplup was coming for Chimchar, firing off a Bubblebeam. The Fire type quickly began to Dig, intending on attacking from below with a Thunder Punch. Froakie didn't break a sweat, the Chesnaught was making a mistake, it was wrong of it to think it had a type advantage. The Water type began to glow, his type changing to Flying as he rushed forward with an Aerial Ace. He'd follow up with a blinding Dazzling Gleam, further exploiting his Protean ability to switch to Fairy. Treecko had his hands full, Combusken would be an agile opponent. The Grass typed Screeched at his opponent, hoping to create an opening and lower the Fire Chicken's defense in the process. He'd then catch the Combusken by surprise with an Aqua Tail, an attack it certainly wouldn't expect. With the opposing Charizard quickly approaching, Xander's quickly takes to the air. The battlefield was already crowded enough. He warmed himself up with a Dragon Dance then prepared to rush his opponent with a Thunder Punch.

Lily didn't need you to say much, for she already had Riolu charging at the Sceptile, surprisingly taking it and flipping it over its shoulder and then pummeling it with fists that were taking on the speed of Mach.

Although it wasn't effective it was enough to keep it distracted while you tried to take on the Pyroar. Wartortle withdrew into his shell and started to rapidly spin out of the immediate path of the Solar Beam, and when you got close enough to use Waterspout, it countered with a Blazing Fire Blast. Over the shouts of Lily and the sounds of the battles you couldn't catch what your opponents were saying. But that mattered not so long as you kept an eye on how your opponents pokemon moved and looked.

The Pyroar lept after Wartortle and charged after him with Fangs that crackled with electricity.
Before Wartortle could do much, Riolu was slammed into it after being thrown by Sceptile.

There was plenty of room in this cavern but you had to be careful about where you directed your pokemon, sure if you saw an opening to free the Diancie you would definitely take it... But the Mob Boss was keeping it very close to Lilys mother and the Lucario.... Meaning unless you somehow found how they were being controlled and stopped that... You could possibly gain a ally... Or two if you could free the Diancie at the same time..

One thing you did notice was how there were two pokeballs on the mans belt and another open one in the woman's hands. Meaning the Mob Boss had two more pokemon and the Woman had control of the possible Ghost type that was hypnotizing Lilys mother and her partner.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~
The Charizard you were battling against notice how the both of you didnt have room to run around and fight to your full potential.. And it rushed up close, grabbed you and tossed you up in the air while it closely followed.
Up in the air both you and him had more mobility but it also took away both the advantages that you could have used your allies on either side to pin the other.
The prinplup wasnt bothered that you dug underground, in fact it followed up by running to the entrance hole you dug and unleashed a Hydro Pump down it, trying to force you to exit or be drowned apparently.
Chesnaught didnt look phased that you deicded to close the distance between the two of you, and smashed its arms closed, spikes erupting from his arms and body making a Spikey Shield. Sheltering itself from both the aerial ace, and the Dazzling Gleam that followed.
The Combusken didnt feel the need to avoid the Screech, and when you came up close to smack him with your Aqua tail. You scored a direct hit, but so did the fire type, when you smacked him to left, he brought his left leg up and kicked you with his blazing feet using the kinetic energy to add power onto the hit.
Things weren't exactly going well on either end......
Xander was glad to see Lily and Riolu holding their own, but their opponents were impressive, as he'd expected. They'd need something to help them turn the tide. Xander noticed the woman was holding an open Pokeball. It clearly wasn't Sceptile's and there was no sign of another Pokemon. Perhaps there was another Pokemon hidden in here...... "Wartortle hit the Sceptile with an Ice Beam then follow up with an Aura Sphere on Pyroar!" Xander whispered across to Lily, "get Riolu to use Foresight, I think there is another Pokemon in here somewhere." Wartortle focused on his attacks, he knew his opponents were strong, but he'd have to be stronger! His shell was beginning to flicker, it seems as though he is starting to gather his strength.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

These match ups were far from favourable. Even Froakie who was able to switch his type, was struggling to get over his opponent. It didn't take long for Chimchar to realise they couldn't treat these as separate fights, these needed to take advantage of their team work. Their opponents were being forced to fight together, while they were a well oiled team, with plenty of practice working together.

"Chim chimchar!" The Fire Starter shouted, Pledging his Firepower to Froakie. The Kalosian Starter croaked, instantly realising his teammate's intention. He combined the power with his own Water Pledge, firing the attack at the Combusken that Treecko was struggling with. Not only would the combined attacks deal a devastating blow, they'd also create a rainbow that would increase the chances of receiving secondary effects from all moves used by their team! Realising that the plan had changed, Treecko dashes away from Combusken with a burst of Agility as he closes in on the Prinplup. He gathers up an Energy Ball and prepares to fire, while Chimchar looks to lock down the Chesnaught. The Fire type readies a Fire Spin to trap with Grass type, allowing Froakie to continue his assault on the Combusken with a Water Pulse.

Charizard could see his allies below preparing their combo. If he was going to get over his opponent, he'd need to exploit it as well. He bellowed a Dragon Rage at the opposing Charizard before firing off an Ancient Power to hopefully gain himself a boost.

Lily's eyes darted over to the womans open pokeball, and back over to you and she nodded.
Wartortle's attempt at gaing both opponents on him was a success, neither were happy with being hit with a Ice beam nor a aura sphere. Sceptile didn't Freeze, but the ground around it did, creating a slippery area due to his previous Water spout, that could possibly be used to either sides advantage.

The Sceptile deicded to also get up close and personal with you charging with its leaves glowing and looking sharp as blades, swiping repeatedly at you, while Pyroar who took a moment to recover getting blasted in the jaw decided to roast you with a Flamethrower even though you had the type advantage, it was still extremely hot and boosted due to the Sunny Weather...

Mhm that Sceptile seemed too fast for normal.. And it's moves were seeming to be locked in place. Choice scarfed perhaps?
Maybe if you found and removed the scarf you could get it to slow down and it would be easier to take down... At the disadvantage that it would be able to access its other moves.

Riolu also seemed to be searching for the ghost pokemon with glowing eyes and caught your and Lily's attention and pointed to a cliff edge not too far where the sunny orb was hanging, casting plenty of shadows for a pokemon to hide.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Casting the Fire/water pledge combo on Combusken was effective enough for it to fall backwards enough allowing for Treecko to dash forward and hit Prinplup in the face with an energy ball, its speed being faster thanks to Agility.
Combuskens was also blasted with a water pulse to the face courtesy of Froakie and Chesnaught got trapped due to Chimchar spinning Flames all around it.
The rainbow boost effect due to the pledge combo allowed for you to pull of the rage of Dragons, and muster up the ancient power to attack the other Charizard, plus get the needed stat boosts from the attack.
And while you guys worked together as a well oiled machine, that didn't mean that the opponents weren't capable of team work, unbeknownst to your group, only the Charizard was here willingly, the rest were stolen from their trainer who was somewhere stuck in the mines... That and their other partner Lucario.
Both Froakie and Treecko noticed there were collars on their opponents that were giving off a shadowy aura to them and seemed to be bending the pokemons wills to the one gaurd.
Things were starting to fall into place. It seemed the Sceptile might be using a Choice Scarf, it would certainly explain the Grass type's enhanced speed and repetitive use of Leaf Blade. "Wartortle, Counter the Leaf Blade, then follow up with a Skull Bash!" Xander ordered, hoping to raise Wartortle's defense more to help him tank the Leaf Blade. Sceptile was still standing on the icy surface and he hoped the impact would knock the opposing Pokemon off its feet. "Then fire a Water Pulse into the air!" Xander was hoping to take out the Sunny Orb the Pyroar had set up and draw out the concealed ghost. He also motioned for Lily to keep the Pyroar busy, Riolu had a type advantage to exploit after all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The change in tactic was working. They'd quickly turned the tide for themselves, as well as Charizard. The keen eyed Froakie and Treecko also noticed that their opponents seemed to be sporting some sort of collar. None of the prisoners they'd freed had been wearing them, these were something different. With Chesnaught currently feeling the heat, it was best for them to work on the other two first. The trio regrouped, focusing their efforts on Prinplup. Chimchar and Treecko slam their fists into the ground, looking to tie the Water type up with a pair of Grass Knots, while Froakie rushed forward, creating a thin blade in his hand, he'd attempt to Cut through the collar.

Charizard felt the rush of energy as the Ancient Power successfully boosted him. His opponent was strong, but with the boost from Dragon Dance and the Ancient Power, he was confident he could win. He rushed the opposing dragon, getting in close so he could be sure to deliver a Thunder Punch to his opponent's shoulder, hoping to inhibit his flight.

King Ghidorah- You weren't far from your goal now, but the Lycanroc stood in your way. Four would be too much for the newly evolved Piloswine to handle, so you call on two more Pokemon to hopefully level the playing field. Scizor and Hakamo-o shivered slightly given the conditions, but it didn't take long for the adrenaline to heat them back up. Before ordering your Pokemon onto the offensive, you decide to make the first move yourself. You crunch up a snowball between your hands before carefully taking aim and hurling it at the old grey Lycanroc, the pack's alpha.

Your aim is true but it fails to hit its mark, one of the other Lycanrocs smash it before it can connect. You prepare for the pack to leap onto the offensive, but instead they remain on their marks, looking to their leader for guidance. The old grey wolf lets out a low growl, an order that its followers are quick to enact. The three regular Midnight Lycanrocs slam their fore-paws into the snow coated earth, creating a staggered Stone Edge wall that blocks off the pass. It seems you now have no way through. The behaviour of the Lycanroc seemed odd, rather than wanting to tear you apart, they seemed intent on stopping you from reaching your destination, but why? The three Lycanroc leap onto their makeshift blockade, flexing their muscles and strengthening their bodies with a Bulk Up, clearly an intimidation tactic.

It might be possible to find another way around, but its more than likely that the Lycanroc would continue to pursue you. Perhaps the only way to get through is by force?

CrazyCreeperKid- Nuzzle was clearly outmatched here, despite his clear type advantage. You quickly recall the Pachirisu and replace him with another. ESP found himself in the exact opposite situation of Nuzzle. The Electric type had a type advantage in this fight, whereas he was up against a Pokemon that was completely immune to his STAB. The Alakazam wasn't worried however, he had more than a few tricks up his sleeve. The Mandibuzz quickly loses sight of him as he Teleports behind the bone collector. Appearing a moment later behind the Dark type, he takes advantage of the avian's blindspot and blasts it with a Tri Attack! Unfortunately he fails to trigger any status effect from the move and the Mandibuzz quickly turns to face her attacker.

Clockwork is about to take off in an attempt to Hypnotise the Mandibuzz, but his attention is soon drawn back to the Vullaby who appears to be Taunting him! The Hoothoot is so enraged he forgoes his sleep inducing attack and instead hammers the Vullaby with another powerful Hurricane! The swirling winds not only deal a heap of damage to the opposing bird, but it also appears to be suffering from confusion! As the Vullaby stumbles around, Poker lurches forward, slowly gathering speed and power before eventually crashing into the Dark type with a Tackle!

While it seems your team is slowly starting to gain the advantage, it isn't long before the Mandibuzz reminds you that it is the real threat here. It fires a Dark Pulse at ESP, sending the Alakazam flying across the open expanse of the pit and crashing into the wall on the far side. The Mandibuzz then turns its attention back to you, screeching down at the two Pokemon continuing to attack its offspring. It is starting to become clear that this is a battle you cannot win, perhaps there is a way you could get to safety before things get too dire?

Man, this Mandibuzz was not a simple Pokemon. It had blasted ESP with a Pulse of complete Darkness, which dealt super-effective damage. Vullaby had Taunted Clockwork, causing him to be unable to use status moves. This meant it couldn't Hypnotize any Pokemon for the time being, which was worrying. Vullaby was definitely not going to last much longer, which made Mandibuzz get angrier.

Danny soon realized that this was a battle he could not win. Now, he needed to figure what to do. He tried to back away slowly, but Mandibuzz screeched loudly which made him freeze.

He stared at the Vullaby and its Mother for a moment, a wild idea coming into his head. This won't work, I'm gonna get my hand snapped off and I'll never get out of this chasm. Danny thought.

Quickly, he threw two Pokeballs at both Pokemon, before turning around to escape. Danny hoped that these Pokemon would stay in the Pokeballs long enough for him to make an escape.

The largest of the wooded biomes of the Cradle, Grandshroud Forest encompasses much of the central forest belt and stretches to the far west, and comprises an area estimated by explorers to be at least the size of Sinnoh, if not larger. The forest itself consists of a variety of trees from the humble oak to the mighty redwood, and is by far the most popular forest for visitors and tourists due to this diversity. With permission from its caretakers and natives, a permanent settlement has been erected amongst the foliage to cater to the increase in traffic, albeit with some concern among the locals. Nevertheless, for those who wish for the great outdoors, there is no better forest than grandshroud Forest.

Grandshroud Forest is a temperate forest, and many pokemon who reside within it are suited to such a location, making it suitable for easier adventures, debatably. Throughout your travels in this area, you have the option to visit several sub-areas, which are listed below. (please reply in forestgreen)

Sub Areas

Celia's Grotto: For those who are of a more occult heart, or simply seek guidance on matters that no other philosopher can answer, the paths through the trees will inevitably take them to this small mossy cavern, alleged home to a being more mythical than many legendary pokemon: Celia, the Dryad. Those who have sought out this mysterious figure fail to memorise their encounters with her, and there are many within the woods who claim her to be folklore, and yet there is the odd traveller who has somehow had some immense trouble lifted from their shoulders, or whom have had life-changing experiences. Perhaps the dryad does exist, or perhaps not, but for those who stumble upon this grotto, their lives will certainly change for better or worse...
(OOC: I'm going to be upfront. This post is marking the start of what I hope will become one of FB's longest adventure sagas in its history, spanning every main area of this zone to gain the approval of each guardian and thus in time reach the Soul of the Cradle. That said, I'm not going to expect any one updator to hold onto me through the entirety of the journey. As such, at any change between biomes, you are encouraged to leave my adventure in someone else's hands if you are burnt out. Now come on, start the adventure!)

Stray leaves crinkled and crackled under the tough outdoor boots of one Mint Earhart as she made her inroads into Grandshroud Forest. Behind her, a Jangmo-o silently kept watch, while a Rotom-Dex put its own eyes towards the rear guard.

Just this portion of the Arboreal Cradle alone was said to rival if not equal all of the Sinnoh region in size, and yet, here she was, chasing after the tiniest needle of a rumor in what had to be the world's largest haystack, on multiple levels.

Firstly, trying to find the supposed dryad, Celia, in this place, would be quite the task, as the location of her abode was uncertain even to those who claimed to have been to see her, and others still believed that she was only passing folklore, and nothing more.

But, Mint would not be cowed by the incredible odds or pessimistic views of the locals of Cedar City. After all, Mint's true goal was far more ambitious: to witness the never-before-seen Soul of the Cradle. Fabled to be the current abode of Xerneas and Yveltal, whatever might be in such a place, it would hardly surprise anyone that an aspiring scholar of myths and legends such as Mint would want to clear away the layers upon layers of mystery that shrouded not only the Soul of the Cradle, but the whole of the Cradle itself.

And so, Mint was beginning her journey with the temperate Grandshroud Forest, as a sort of early assessment of her task. The "guardian" here was, allegedly, not to be found. Rather, they invited those individuals whom they trusted. Yet, even among those living in Cedar City, Mint had been unable to get so much as a clue as to what might earn the guardian's favor. And so, Mint had left the city in search of Celia. If no simple human could help her in this matter, surely a dryad, So intrinsically tied to this place, might have an answer for her?

"You seeing anything that looks odd, Apollo? Or smelling, or anything?" Mint asked the Dragon type behind her. Apollo simply huffed and snorted, a simple communication of "No," as Mint had come to know.

"Alright, bud. Let's keep going. I don't think this dryad is just some legend, and they definitely can't hide forever." Mint reassured him, venturing deeper still into the thick woods.

CrazyCreeperKid- With not much else going your way, you decide on a last ditch plan. You pull out two Pokeballs and quickly hurl them at the Mandibuzz and Vullaby. If you were lucky, you'd catch both and not only be safe, you'd have two new Pokemon! The Mandibuzz sees the ball coming and catches it in her powerful talons, crushing it before it can even attempt to draw her inside. Well, that was a bust! However while its attention was on the Pokeball directed at it, the Mandibuzz failed to notice the other ball which you'd hurled at its offspring! The second Pokeball connects with the Vullaby, popping open and drawing it inside. The ball drops into the pile of bones, it shakes back and forth a few times before coming to rest with a resounding click.....

You caught a lvl 10 Female Vullaby! It has the ability Overcoat and knows Snarl and Taunt!

Upon seeing its offspring captured, the Mandibuzz's mood changes dramatically. With no offspring to protect, it simply flies off, rising up and out of the pit from the direction that it came. ESP floats over to you, he looks a bit beaten up but he should be fine. Clockwork flaps over and retrieves the Pokeball containing the Vullaby, while Poker slumps down beside you. You were safe, for now but your relatively new team had been through quite an ordeal. Would you continue to explore the Pit of the Devourer or would you try and find a way out so your team could regather their strength.

Danny's plan had both succeeded and failed, but had worked better than expected. Mandibuzz, with superior eyesight and intellect, had crushed the Pokeball before impact.
"Aw man!" Danny sighed. "That Pokeball was expensive." Danny murmured, then his attention was caught by something else. The second Pokeball had hit it's target, and something was happening.
The ball shook once, twice, thrice, then a satisfying bling was heard. Three small stars shot from the Pokeball's rim, and Danny knew what that meant.
"Ooh, I caught it!" Danny said happily, as the Mandibuzz flew away.
What a bad mom, Danny said as he walked towards the Pokeball, picking it up before sending it out. Danny grasped at his Pokedex, then pointed it at the baby vulture Pokemon.
"Vullaby. The Diapered Pokemon. It is a Dark and Flying type. Its wings are too tiny to allow it to fly. As the time approaches for it to evolve, it discards the bones it was wearing." The Pokedex droned.
Danny then looked at the Vullaby, and said, "I think I'll name you Skull." Danny remarked.
"Should I go deeper?" Danny asked himself. Glancing around, he didn't have any sort of rope. Then, he got an idea. This idea would work perfectly. "ESP, Psychic!" Danny said, as he picked up the Vullaby, which pecked him fiercely. "You're immune to Psychic moves." Danny said as ESP prepared to levitate them downwards.
ESP's eyes turned blue, then Danny felt psychic energy cloud all over him.
"Alright. Down." Danny said, going downwards to his fate.

(OOC: Catching Vullaby, naming her Skull, and using Pokeball #4 out of 15.)

Storm approached a ring of ethereal plants, having his Riolu at his side and his Swinub on his shoulder.

"Another day, another venture into mystery..."
"Honestly, I am still resting from my last adventure, but being idle for too long would lead to one vanishing into obscurity."
"Might as well do that in an adventurous way."
"Besides, I have you two with me, so all will be well."

He gave both of them a pat on the head while stepping into the circle.

"I wonder how this wor-"

Before he knew it, Storm, Rolu and his Swinub arrived in the Cosmic Clearing.

"....ld?"

Storm landed awkwardly, falling over onto the ground.

"Mmmmph"

Rolu and the Swinub both snickered, since he was fine after all.

Storm got up again
"Ahem."
"Well, this place is rather unique."

Rolu tried leaning against a tree, only to also fall due to the unique gravitational pull.
He quickly got up, now standing sideways on the tree.

"Perplexing..."
"Well, Rolu, would you lead the way for us?"
"I'll be right behind you."

The three of them walked up the tall tree, all suprised by it's gravity.
After a few minutes, Rolu started to walk slower and slower, each step shakier than the last.

"What's wrong, Rolu?"
Rolu pointed down shakily, Storm's gaze followed.
They were really high up by now.

"A-a-ah, y-yes, heights."

Storm started holding Rolu's hand.

"You're n-not the only one frightened by heights...."

Swinub just remained on Storm's shoulder, seemingly unfazed by the height.
The group decided to take a break after walking for a while longer, sitting down on the odd tree.

It was as if Wartortle timed his Counter perfectly for the Sceptile's leaf blades broke off and were sent flying into the walls. To not let it recover he followed up with bashing his skull into the Sceptile's.... Which certainly looked painful with its head rearing backwards and the Sceptile falling over onto its back, casuing him to slip on the ice and slide back a few feet in a case but not incapable to fight.

THERE IT WAS! Your hunch was right, you could see the scarf that was tied around its tail which explained how it kept it hidden from you. Now was your chance to get that off, but first Wartortle took out the Sunny Orb with his Water Pulse, which removed the shadows and cause a rain shower to fall down, rather like a sprinkling.

Riolu did a excellent job of taking on the Pyroar and had it on edge, forcing it to back up with jumps from the Force of its Palms.

After the light dispersed you could sense a heavier pressure on you now, this must be the ghost type... You shivered as it felt cold... And like a Doorway opened up to somewhere you were not supposed to go.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~
Your Duo Grass Knots easily took down the Prinplup and with the small blade of compressed air from Fraokie you were all able to slice the collar off of one of the three prisoners .
Now you had to figure out your plan for the other too, but it looked like you were not going to receive help from Prinplup for it collapsed and layed on the ground... Relieved in a way you all assumed.
Rushing the Other Pokemon and striking him with a thunder punch was enough to knock him back and it sounded like you knocked his wing joint out of the socket from the crack you heard when your fist struck.
But it was not fatal and nor would this fall be either, though you could use the fall to your advantage.
What will you do now?
Heather- You were finally here, the Arboreal Cradle. A dream was now reality, but in your dreams the Cradle was never this big. The trees tower over you, as tall as the tallest skyscrapers in the Unova region. They seemed to street on forever, and this was only one of the Cradle's biomes. However, there were rumours that a Dryad inhabited this part of the Grandshroud Forest. You'd heard rumours and tales of the mystical Dryad, Celia, who many believed to be nothing but Folklore, yet few claimed her to be real. You were hoping to locate Celia in hopes that she could put you on the right path to finding the Grandshroud's Guardian, but finding Celia would likely be just as hard as finding the Guardian itself.....
Thankfully you weren't alone in this endeavour, you had your Pokemon to help you! Together you would venture through every Biome of the Cradle until you earned the right to enter Soul of the Cradle. While your Rotom Dex seems only intent on the path ahead, your young Jangmo-o seems more interested in the scents around it. The Dragon rushes around, sniffing here and there, hoping to pick up something that would be of some use to you. You continue like this, weaving through the trees for almost half a day before Apollo suddenly growls in alarm. At first you're not sure what is wrong, but after a few moments you realise what has set Apollo off. The ground is trembling, shaken by the approach of many clashing hooves. It seems you're in the path of a stampede! You'd have to think quick, otherwise you'd risk been trampled!
CrazyCreeperKid- Despite your team being weakened considerably by the tussle with the Mandibuzz, you decide to descend deeper into the Pit. Clutching your newly caught Vullaby, you instruct ESP to grip you with its Psychic strength and float you further down. The Alakazam does as instructed and you continue your descent into the darkness. As you descend lower and lower, you notice that ESP is beginning to show signs of fatigue. Between the blows it took from the Mandibuzz and the energy it took to keep itself and you afloat, it was beginning to tire. Before long, ESP is forced to place you on a ledge, releasing its grip on you it quickly floats over before dropping to the ground, temporarily unconscious from fatigue. He'd need an energy boost if he was to be any further help....
Looking around, you notice there is a tunnel heading deep underground, where it lead you weren't sure, but surely it led somewhere? If you were to venture down the tunnel, it would take a bit of the load off of ESP and give you a chance to explore this truly strange structure. The only issue is that this far down, light was becoming an issue and in the tunnel you'd be left in complete darkness. Perhaps there was a way you could create light? Regardless, if you wanted to keep exploring here, you'd have to come up with a plan. A low growl rings out from further down the tunnel, the soft sound only just reaches your ears. It's hard to tell what it is, but perhaps its enough to draw you down the path?
A perfectly timed Counter was exactly what they needed. Wartortle managed to chain the counter into a Skull Bash, raising his defence and knocking Sceptile off its feet in the process. While the Sceptile was flailing, Xander managed to spot the Choice Scarf, confirming his suspicions. The Pyroar seemed to be occupied by Lily and her Riolu, which meant Xander could concentrate on finishing off the Sceptile and riding them of their ghostly spectator.....
"Lily see that figure up there? We need Riolu to use Foresight to flush it out. Wartortle will follow with an Aura Sphere to make sure we know what we are dealing with. Wartortle I want you to continue Countering Sceptile's attacks, it can't do anything else if it wants to use that Choice Scarf!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

They'd gotten the break through they were hoping for. With a swift Cut, they were able to cut the collar from the Prinplup and free it once and for all. Unfortunately it was now unconscious, but that didn't matter, they knew what they had to do now. The Chesnaught was still temporarily contained by the Fire Spin, meaning their next target was the Combusken. The Fire Chicken was likely still out to get Treecko, so they'd exploit that as well as they could. Treecko stood still, bravely staring down its opponent. Meanwhile Chimchar dug under the ground. The Fire starter clawed through the earth before coming to a stop in front of Treecko's location. He'd burst forth once Combusken was near, nailing a powerful blow. Froakie disappeared, concealing himself with Camouflage and preparing his Cutting blade, ready for when the Combusken fell for their trap.

Charizard was gaining some momentum on his opponent. The powerful Thunder Punch he delivered had injured the opposing Charizard's wing, causing it to descend. Looking to exploit his opponents weaker position, Xander's Charizard quickly pursues, attacking his opponent from behind. He attempts to sink his Dragon Claw's into his adversaries back, while also Crunching his fangs into his opponents neck. If things went to plan, he'd drive the opposing Charizard into the ground, where his allies could help him finish it off.

You didn't give the ghost pokemon a chance to revise its hiding space, that combined with Riolu's foresight along with your Aura Sphere, and surprisingly another from Riolu himself, caused the Ghost type to drop from the ceiling onto the floor. With some close inspections your new opponent was a Dusknior.

"Beating him won't free your mother nor her partner here, you see Dusky here stole their souls and is their source of staying alive, while under our complete control."
Dusky's owner cackled as she spoke, the words and laugh chilling you, with Lily going pale.

If you Knocked this Dusknior out... It could release the mothers soul along with the Lucarios, but that didn't mean they would stay alive. You have to figure someway to get the Dusknior to put the souls back before you knocked it out. Which would be impossible, or at least it seems to be.

Wartortle grew ever impatient and angry at the two baddies that he was fighting, and he glowed more blue, as if he were growing blue glowmoss on his shell. How dare they!

Lily slumped to the floor defeated, Yes you could take out the Sceptile and Pyroar and whatever else those two had, but if you so much as attacked the Dusknior, it could kill her mother and partner which was Riolu's mother....

You have to think up of something, and Fast, because Mob boss and Co. Could take Dusknior and have the two killed anyways.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With Combusken back up on its feet, it rushed the Treecko, but instead of going where Chimchar and everyone else thought it would, it kicked its self up in the air, and blasted the air with its Blazing feet, kicking the air to propel it up and to Treecko.
A direct hit would be difficult to pull off on it now unless Charizard helped out.
Speaking of which, You pressed your Claws and Teeth into your opponents back, adding your weight on top of his falling and pinning him from attacking much if at all, but then you noticed out of the corner of your eyes the Combusken making its way through the air a little ways to your left, perhaps you could do a rolling and get your opponent on top of this one, two birds with one stone so to speak. It was clear that the Bird pokemon had not noticed you up here above him.
What will you do next?
Stormingwolf:
You soon found out that the Cosmic Clearing had inveresed rules of physics. Gravity worked differently here than other places in the world and there were rumors of this being one of two things, a Fae land, or the lands of extraterrestrials.
It would be interesting to see what you would meet.
But before you guys could get up to walk further you heard giggling little voices, but they weren't human or Pokemon, they sounded like little bells, Odd?........
You looked around yourself for a few minutes and after not finding anything you got up with your pokemon and continued walking what was now upside the tree, the branches sticking out like posts in the ground. The higher, or rather the farther you climbed, the more you noticed the moss on the trees changing colors.
Soon enough you heard a faint melody, and a voice to accompany it.
"Come, Come child, let us play together. We can play hide and seek, Wander with us through time and this space."
The song itself was off with any of the words actually making sense with the tune, it was as if someone wasn't singing, but rather asking you to play a game.
Your eyes grew heavy, your feet started to feel like weighted bags of sand, and the colors started to swirl.
*Bamf* you slipped into unconsciousness........
~~~~~~~~~~~

You jumped up and the first thing you noticed was that save for your undergarments and the two pokemon by your side, you had everything stolen from you.

Your pokemon were still asleep, but it didn't look as if they were harmed, which was a relief to you.

What will you do from here on? What is your plan of action?

Your pokemon were still asleep, but it didn't look as if they were harmed, which was a relief to you.

What will you do from here on? What is your plan of action?

"Sleepy...."

Storm took a moment to adjust to his new situation, having lost all but his undergarments and his two precious pokemon.

"You two re still with me, I am glad..."

He went over to wake both Rolu and his Swinub.

The Swinub jumped awake and landed on Storm's shoulder.

Meanwhile, Rolu got up drowsily before looking suprised at Storm's lack of clothes.

"Good morning, sleepyheads."
"I woke up like this, so, I guess that I'll have to stay like this for a while."

*Storm grabbed Rolu's paw gently and started to walk further along*

"We heard a melody, then a voice, before we knew it, we were all knocked out."
"This world really is interesting..."

The starry sky lit the trio gently as they continued exploring

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With Combusken back up on its feet, it rushed the Treecko, but instead of going where Chimchar and everyone else thought it would, it kicked its self up in the air, and blasted the air with its Blazing feet, kicking the air to propel it up and to Treecko.
A direct hit would be difficult to pull off on it now unless Charizard helped out.
Speaking of which, You pressed your Claws and Teeth into your opponents back, adding your weight on top of his falling and pinning him from attacking much if at all, but then you noticed out of the corner of your eyes the Combusken making its way through the air a little ways to your left, perhaps you could do a rolling and get your opponent on top of this one, two birds with one stone so to speak. It was clear that the Bird pokemon had not noticed you up here above him.
What will you do next?
They now faced a whole new issue. The Dusknoir had consumed the souls of Lily's mother and her Lucario. If they knocked it out, they could be lost for ever. Lily was distraught, understandably so, but Xander wasn't about to give up so easily. He'd encountered a Dusknoir once before, growing up in the Sinnoh region. That Dusknoir used to hang out near the radio tower, his father had told him the antenna on the Ghost's head let it hear radio waves. The memory sparked a genius plan, Xander quickly pulled out the radio they'd taken off a guard earlier. "Lily try and use this radio to communicate with either the Dusknoir or your mother's soul. Dusknoir use radio waves to communicate with the spirit world, so this might be our only way around this situation." Xander handed the radio to the grieving girl, hoping she'd find the will to follow his instructions. They'd have to avoid attacking the Dusknoir until they knew more....
"Wartortle, another Ice Beam on the Sceptile, then rush the Pyroar with an Aqua Tail." Xander wasn't sure if Lily was in the mindset to instruct Riolu, so he decided to give the orders himself. "Riolu jam another Force Palm into the Pyroar then take one of the Sceptile's Leaf Blades and reply with a Counter."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Combusken had leapt high into the air, slipping past their trap. Chimchar emerged from underground, his eyes narrow in on Combusken. Above the chicken he could see Charizard quickly approaching. He claps his hands together, offering Charizard a Helping Hand. Froakie stood concealed, blade at the ready, waiting to see how the situation unfolded. If the opportunity presented itself, he'd cut the collar of the Combusken as quick as he could.

Charizard could see the Combusken below them, it still hadn't seen them. He could feel a burst of energy flow through him, his strength increasing thanks to some help from an ally. His tail glistens with metallic energy. He prepared to release his hold on his opponent. As soon as he let go, he'd strike with an Iron Tail, hitting the opposing Charizard into the path of the Combusken and hopefully knocking both to the ground!

The Alakazam does as instructed and you continue your descent into the darkness. As you descend lower and lower, you notice that ESP is beginning to show signs of fatigue. Between the blows it took from the Mandibuzz and the energy it took to keep itself and you afloat, it was beginning to tire. Before long, ESP is forced to place you on a ledge, releasing its grip on you it quickly floats over before dropping to the ground, temporarily unconscious from fatigue. He'd need an energy boost if he was to be any further help....

Looking around, you notice there is a tunnel heading deep underground, where it lead you weren't sure, but surely it led somewhere? If you were to venture down the tunnel, it would take a bit of the load off of ESP and give you a chance to explore this truly strange structure. The only issue is that this far down, light was becoming an issue and in the tunnel you'd be left in complete darkness. Perhaps there was a way you could create light? Regardless, if you wanted to keep exploring here, you'd have to come up with a plan. A low growl rings out from further down the tunnel, the soft sound only just reaches your ears. It's hard to tell what it is, but perhaps its enough to draw you down the path?

ESP soon got tired, and landed Danny on a ledge. ESP was very tired. Danny looked down through the pitch black cave, and heard a small growl. It could have been anything, but faintly it resembled an Ursaring, which had him worried.
Danny looked at him, and then realized that he had one more idea. He brought out the Wave Incense that Keith had given him. He looked at ESP, and the Alakazam tiredly Punched the Incense with Fire, which made it smoke quickly, but more importantly, glow.
Danny picked a Pokeball, retreating ESP into his Pokeball.
He continued to walk down the cave, as he stared at the grimy sides of the tunnel.
"Ew, this place is disgusting." Danny said, and the Slowpoke on his shoulder grimaced in agreement. Pinky had at first wanted to use Aqua Tail, but Danny chastised him.
"You can't use any moves. We're not exactly trying to attract attention."
Skull seemed okay with all this, she was certainly used to the cave life, and therefore was not exactly worried. As Danny proceeded through, his worry grew.

The trees tower over you, as tall as the tallest skyscrapers in the Unova region. They seemed to street on forever, and this was only one of the Cradle's biomes. However, there were rumours that a Dryad inhabited this part of the Grandshroud Forest. You'd heard rumours and tales of the mystical Dryad, Celia, who many believed to be nothing but Folklore, yet few claimed her to be real. You were hoping to locate Celia in hopes that she could put you on the right path to finding the Grandshroud's Guardian, but finding Celia would likely be just as hard as finding the Guardian itself.....

Thankfully you weren't alone in this endeavour, you had your Pokemon to help you! Together you would venture through every Biome of the Cradle until you earned the right to enter Soul of the Cradle. While your Rotom Dex seems only intent on the path ahead, your young Jangmo-o seems more interested in the scents around it. The Dragon rushes around, sniffing here and there, hoping to pick up something that would be of some use to you. You continue like this, weaving through the trees for almost half a day before Apollo suddenly growls in alarm. At first you're not sure what is wrong, but after a few moments you realise what has set Apollo off. The ground is trembling, shaken by the approach of many clashing hooves. It seems you're in the path of a stampede! You'd have to think quick, otherwise you'd risk been trampled!
The forests of the Cradle were far, far bigger than Mint had ever imagined. It wasn't that such wasn't immediately obvious. Rather, it was the travel for hours on end without finding much of anything that really made the realization sink in.

After yet more hours of uneventful travel, the forest was becoming dark as the sun set-not that such was easily seen through the thick canopy above.

"Alright, guys, I think we should stop for today." Mint said, stretching herself out before sloughing off her bag and sitting back against a tree. Apollo, for his part, circled the tree a few times, surveying the area for threats before committing to rest.

Mint was halfway through setting up her equipment to make a camp dinner when Apollo leapt to attention and growled into the thick woods. Mint quickly stood up, eyes rapidly scanning the direction Apollo was facing for whatever intrusive presence he might be trying to threaten away. Sprocket likewise scanned the surroundings, but came away with nothing.

That's when Mint started to feel the ground trembling beneath her feet. If something was coming this way, it was big. Apollo stopped growling suddenly, his expression overtaken by fear.

And it was at that moment that Mint heard the disturbance. Hoofbeats. And not just a few, a whole horde of galloping somethings was stampeding straight towards her. She had absolutely no idea of any Pokémon with hooves that regularly made their homes in forests, but now wasn't the time to worry over that. Any way you sliced it, trying to weather out the oncoming stampede wasn't Mint's idea of a good time. The herd sounded far too big to reliably get around it in time, so Mint decided her best chance at this would be to part the figurative sea.

To that end, she gathered up her things and took two Poke Balls from her belt, one standard, one Luxury.

"Blathers, Murray, let's go!" Mint called as she released her Rowlet and Smeargle, both of whom quickly grasped the gravity of the situation, judging by their expressions.

"Blathers, I want you to whip up an Ominous Wind and see if it doesn't repel whatever's coming this way. Murray, I want you to copy Blathers with your Sketch, and then add your own Ominous Wind to the mix! Understood?" Mint explained. Both Pokémon nodded. Blathers immediately set to work, a chilling wind blowing at Mint's back as he worked his small wings tirelessly. Murray took his tail and began drawing in the air, taking in the knowledge of his first practical combat attack. Mint stood next to the tree against which she had been resting, ready to return everyone and hide behind the tree if worst came to worst.

"That won't be necessary luv's. You wanna know why? You're joining her. " Mis' Dusk spoke with a twisted gleeful smile and before you knew it the Dusknior disappeared into the shadows, and not long after you felt a hand grab your leg.

What happened would have been hard for you to explain to someone else, because... You were being pulled away, but your body didn't move. In fact you could see yourself as if you were looking at the reflection of yourself through a mirror, as it fell forward and you were drawn backwards.

It was impossible to have anyone attack the Dusknior and stop it from what it was doing for two reasons. It could not be seen save for a hand grabbing your leg, and it was too fast for anything to have any kind of response.

Blackness soon engulfed you and you slipped into unconsciousness.

Your Wartortle smacked the Pyroar with its Aquatic Tail, and fired a beam of pure Ice at Sceptile, but the moment you went down it slid to you as fast as it could to catch you. Panic began to set in when He couldn't find a pulse or tell if you were even breathing. The Glow from the back of his shell illuminated your blank soulless face with a blue light

Riolu who was occupied with Pyroar and Sceptile, stopped completely and shivered as it felt exactly what had happened to you through its aural perception.

Lily, who was barely holding up with the fact that her mother could be dead and lost forever, now had to watch you suffer the same fate.... Without thinking she gripped the radio and spoke into it softly, calling out for you and her mother. Repeatedly....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You pushed yourself over above the Combusken, and slammed your Opponent down with a tail of pure Iron. Shoving both into the ground to leave the Combusken unconscious and the Charizard dazed. Along with a sizeable Crater in the ground. You nodded down thanking for the helping hand.
Froakie then rushed over as planned and cut the collar loose from Combusken.
After hopping back a distance away from a potential blow from the Charizard, all four of you stopped.... It felt as if there was a sudden chill in the air, as if someone had died....
Looking back at the mine all four of you fervently hoped that your partners were okay, but unfortunately you couldn't afford to stop now, as the Chesnaught broke free of the fire spin and started rolling around, keeping its neck covered unfortunately but then it locked on to Chimchar and charged.
What will you do now?
Stormingwolf;
The elf that sung you to sleep looked over at you unamused, you werent like other humans who started freaking out once something like that happened to them... Those who freaked out were more entertaining to elfin kind.
"Hmpf"
It set to follow you as you continued to walk through the Cosmic Clearing.
Why hadnt you panicked or shown the least bit of concern when your personal belongings were taken off your back? No funny little tantrums with human squeaking noises. No you just picked up your pokemon and continued forward into the unknown just blatantly thinking you'll come across your stuff again.
We'll this elf wasnt going to have it... So it decided that you were going to meet one of the grumps of this clearing.
Those spooky pokemon almost always caused humans to panic when they didnt have anyway to stop them or catch them. Surely that would give the show this elf was wanting.
So with a little bit of mist that slowly built up into Fog, you made your way unsuspectingly to where the elf wanted you to go.
Time seemed to crawl on, well.... Actually you had no sense or way of telling what time was now, not even the sun's shadows could help you determine how long you have been wandering the clearing since sleeping, your feet grew heavier and heavier with each step.
Not only that but you seemed to notice that you were being followed, by something, but you weren't sure as to what was following you nor how you would handle it.
CRAACCCCCKKKKKKLLLEEEEEEE
It sounded as if the tree's themselves were moving now, which could be possible as you had no idea what could be in here nor what the tree's would normally be like.....
What will you do?
Xander found himself in complete darkness. Was he truly dead? Or was he just occupying a space outside of life and death? He needed to find something tangible, he couldn't just accept his fate. He stumbled through the darkness, looking for any sign of light.....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Feeding a Rare Candy to Wartortle, boosting him to lvl 37)

The glow that had been emanating from Wartortle throughout the battle had only grown stronger since Xander's 'demise'. Passionate rage filled the Water type's eyes, his body burst with a blinding light. His body begins to swell and expand, undergoing a rapid evolution. His fluffy tail shrinks, as do his fluffy ear. His shell grows larger and tougher before two shining cannons emerge. He lets out a roar that shakes the cavern, Wartortle had evolved into Blastoise!

Wartortle evolved into Blastoise!

Filled with rage and possessing a new level of power, Blastoise went on the attack. Riolu could easily continue to Counter the Sceptile's Leaf Blades, he would dispose of the Pyroar. He took aim with his cannons, preparing to fire a Water Pulse from one and an Aura Sphere from the other. Once he had the Pyroar on the back foot, he'd finish it with a Hydro Cannon!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Feeding 1 Rare Candy to Chimchar, boosting him to lvl 71, Feeding 1 Rare Candy to Froakie, boosting him to lvl 71, Feeding 1 Rare Candy to Treecko, boosting him to lvl 51)
They all felt it. The chill through the air, something felt lost to them. The trio looked at each other, all sharing a look of concern. They couldn't help but fear for Xander, but they knew that if they were going to help him, they had to win here first. The Chesnaught had broken free and was quickly barrelling towards Chimchar. Treecko and Froakie weren't going to let their friend stand alone though, not now. The pair stood alongside Chimchar, staring down the approaching Chesnaught. All of a sudden, the trio begin to glow, the bright light emanating from them is almost blinding. All three of them had been storing up energy for quite some time, waiting for a moment just like this. Their bodies begin to grow and mature and by the time the light fades, all three of them find themselves looking distinctly different. Chimchar, Froakie and Treecko were no more, now they were Monferno, Frogadier and Grovyle!
Chimchar evolved into Monferno!
Froakie evolved into Frogadier!
Treecko evolved into Grovyle!
Monferno Taunted the Chesnaught, confident that they could easily handle it thanks to their evolution. Frogadier Bounces off the ground, his type shifting to Flying as he prepares to attack the Chesnaught from above. Grovyle raised around the side of Chesnaught, preparing to through it off with a Dragon Breath. Monferno would put in the final blow, nimbly striking with Acrobatics.
Charizard was impressed to see his teammates evolve, they possessed an incredible bond. His own opponent was dazed, but not defeated. He took to the air again, looking to maintain the advantage of the high ground. He spat a Toxic down upon his opponent, looking to further wear him down. As he continued to rise, he looked to push his adversary away with a Dragon Pulse.
Before there was civilisation, there was nature. From the very void, Arceus was said to have created the world from a single seed and nurtured it with His thousand arms into the land we call home today. However, for all His power, it was not by His hand that life was created, and that nature flourished, for the world grown was barren and empty. Thus was it that Xerneas and Yveltal were created after Time, Space and Antimatter, to create the Cycle of Life and Death, and Zygarde to maintain the Order of the Cycle. With the Cycle started, the land slowly grew from nothing to something, rivers began to flow and the cracked sands toiled to dirt, which bore shoots of grass, then shrubbery. Within a few centuries, a vast forest grew forth, and expanded to cover much of the world's landmasses. Yet, all forests had to come from somewhere...that somewhere is a tract of land known as the Arboreal Cradle, the beginning of life on our world. From within, it is said that Creation continues and the Cycle remains constant, the literal beating heart and lungs of our world in action, and the Order of things maintained, so that when life can no longer remain, Death takes it with dignity to return it to the cycle.
For centuries, explorers and searched for this land, with no avail, and only at the advent of technology has Man at last discovered a world that They have not touched. Expeditions and exploration began with the intent of exploitation, yet the forces within have prevented such disaster from occurring and invaders have been repelled by the Guardians of the Arboreal Cradle, with the few who escaped alive relaying tales of incredible sights and riches, of civilisations who have lived and grown to become one with the Cradle. Following intense lobbying and debate among world leaders, it was agreed that the Cradle be classed as a Nature Preserve, one that no corporation or group shall attempt to exploit, and for only those with permits to travel to.
That was three hundred years ago, and today the status of the Cradle remains protected, though the laws pertaining to the land have been alleviated somewhat so as to allow anyone to travel there. With the doors effectively opened, trainers have flocked to the Cradle to discover a forest unlike any other they have ever encountered.
The Arboreal Cradle consists of five separate and distinct, yet closely intertwined and linked forest biomes, each connected to each other through a central border area, and the boundaries between each are so connected that one may pass into another biome without realising it.
Titan's Butte: Among the fossilised trees lies an unusual spire of rock that stands by itself, yet usually appears to have been driven into the ground judging by the fractured earth around it. According to folklore, the butte was formed when a giant drove a mountaintop into the crust to provide them with a seat to rest upon during a break between shaping the continents. The rock itself requires either a strong set of wings or excellent mountaineering to scale, but provides excellent views of the Hallows, as well as another interesting utility. Every month or so, a number of powerful pokemon venture to the clifftop to do battle with each other in a test of strength, and for trainers seeking a challenge, nothing is more tantalising than battling some of the mightiest creatures in the Cradle. If exceptional, you may even catch the attention of the Guardian of the land.
"....whoa."
Dracen looked up at the towering spire before him, unlikely as it was. Though it was a long way off yet, the deepest fractures still reached his feet. He bent and traced one with his finger.
"This is going to be tougher to climb than I thought it was." He murmured. Gible beside him gabbled anxiously. Dracen stood back up. He pondered for a moment, staring at the spectacular butte.
"Perhaps we could find a Flying-Type to help us get up there. I'm sure there's plenty around here somewhere that would be happy to help!"
Gible ground his teeth and growled. Dracen hefted the Pokémon and stroked the tall dorsal fin.
"I know you don't like heights, buddy. I don't much either. But the butte looks stable, and you'll be in your Pokeball during the flight up." Gible relaxed in Dracen's arms.
"Now, let's at least get closer. I wonder what kind of Flying-Types there are around here..." He lowered Gible to the ground and began to hike onward. Gible chirped and tottered along beside him. Dracen smiled at the little ‘mon and hefted his pack higher on his back. He scrolled through his Pokedex for Flying-Types as he walked, thinking about the adventure ahead.
