Lilligant Slumbering Wilds Raid Battle 9: Servine!

Raid Boss Servine
★★★

Health Gauge: 100%
Shields Up: 0
Status: N/A

Raid Challengers

Zorchic, Seviper: 400 HP
Leo, Shadow Heracross: 300 HP
Dragons, Joltik: 300 HP
Slash, Spinarak: 300 HP
grassyglide, Vivillon: 300 HP
Median Dia, Ninetales Alola: 400 HP

Servine considers the gathered crowd with a lazy smirk, his towering figure rested on precarious, barely more than vestigial limbs. Despite this apparent goofiness, here was a distinct atmosphere of aloof superiority dripping from the body language of the reptile. As the Raiders summon their selected champions, crimson light flushing the clearing with every successive mechanical click, Servine seems unperturbed. His was an absolute confidence, unwavering in the face of adversity - though for the briefest of moments, a narrowed eye signals a small crack in the façade.

Dynamax initiative: Slash, Spinarak

  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • When issuing an attack, please state the attack's unbuffed Base Power (BP).
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but up $500 may be collected for role played responses of equivalent words, per standard rules, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Thursday, 12th August to place your order.

The transition of one month to the next always seemed to bring with it a new wave of Power Spot related incidents, Dynamax energy filled Pokemon going on rampages, not in their right minds, that needed to be faced in combat to quash them and keep them from causing harm to untold numbers of innocent people and Pokemon. And once again, Darik was ready to answer the call and volunteer his help.

The Slumbering Wilds had sent out a call for assistance for a Servine, and Darik knew at once that he could be an asset to such a fight, and he had just the Pokemon in mind to be his partner for this fight. For a Grass Pokemon foe, the pairing of Bug and Poison was an excellent counter. That alone wasn't enough to decide it, though, there were multiple Pokemon they had at the resort that fit that typing, or other similarly defensive typings against it. No, he just had the feeling that Casper, his Spinarak, would be the best fit to help with this endeavour.

A Servine, on its day, could be quite a handful to deal with. Darik knew well the kind of power a Pokemon with the Contrary ability could possess, from his own Spinda and its Superpower. Once he got going, it was hard to stop him. With his Spinarak, three other bugs, a poisonous snake, and a frosty fox, he was confident they would be able to power through the Servine's defenses before it could get too out of hand.

Dynamax energy welled up beneath Darik and caused the Dynamax Band on his wrist to glow. This was fortuitous as well. Not because he wanted to cause his Spinarak to Dynamax, no, but rather because he didn't. The energy moved in cycles, and would quickly pass from him to someone who would be able to make better use of it. In most cases, it would be poor timing to initiate Dynamax before they were close to the odd shield phenomenon the raid booses had, as the allied max moves' best utility was generally to smash through move of those. Unless a specific effect of a max move was valuable enough to the raiders' game plan, often by means o terrain or weather, popping the Dynamax too early was not preferable.

Darik cracked his neck. First to the left, then to the right, then rounding the back. He had a game plan of his own to proceed with. "Casper, let's use a Focus Energy to start this off!" he called out to the small spider.

He could see the path clearly before him. Shadow Lance. Focus Energy. Casper's Sniper ability. A good health draining move like Leech Life. All those factors together would make Casper difficult for the Servine to keep down once he got his inertia going. The Servine could also be an issue if it was allowed to build its own inertia, so it seemed like the raid team had to build its own up before the snake could make it an issue for them.

OoC: Focus Energy (-- BP)

Raid Boss Servine
★★★

Health Gauge: 90%
Shields Up: 0
Status: Toxic, Confusion, SpAtk +4
Raiders: Light Screen (4)

Raid Boss Attack Summary

Attack 1: Leaf Storm (130 BP)
Median Dia, Ninetales Alola: 283 HP
Attack 1: Leaf Storm (130 BP)
Leo, Shadow Heracross: 190 HP
Raid Challengers

Zorchic, Seviper: 400 HP
Leo, Shadow Heracross: 190 HP [Burned]
Dragons, Joltik: 300 HP
Slash, Spinarak: 300 HP [Focused]
grassyglide, Vivillon: 300 HP
Median Dia, Ninetales Alola: 283 HP

Looking to settle in for the long haul, the Raiders deploy a number of defensive techniques. Heracross leaves Servine staggering, eyes swimming with confusion, while Seviper spews a nasty thickened sludge at the leafy hide of the behemoth, hissing laughter as the toxins take hold. Ninetales performs a triple pirouette, pleased that all three of her intended blows find their mark. Joltik follows through with a jabbing Leech Life, while Spinarak prepares themselves to follow suit by intensely focusing. Finally Vivillon provides further defensive utility, erecting a glistening pane of light - but this can only dull the following outburst so much. Servine unleashes a raging Leaf Storm at Ninetales, their brief lucidity allowing for a second to be levied against Heracross, who grunts as his Flame Orb finally takes hold.

Dynamax initiative: Leo, Shadow Heracross

  • You have until Saturday, 14th August to place your order.

As predicted, the Servine immediately set to work on abusing its Contrary ability. Luckily, the raiders had managed to set up their countermeasures, inflicting Toxic level Poison, Shadow Panic's confusion, and a Light Screen for defensive purposes, not to mention Casper's own Focus Energy. Nothing on their side had been felled by the two waves of Leaf Storms, thankfully, but the Dynamax boss had managed to bypass its confusion for the time being, and the Pokemon who had gotten hurt were possibly the worst two Pokemon to be hit, one lacking a resistance to Grass and the other, while resisting it, also took extra damage from being a Shadow Pokemon. The Shadow Pokemon in question, a Heracross, had gotten burned by its held item as well. It was almost certainly running with Guts, so although it would take some harm from this over time, the sizable damage increase would more than make up for it. Shadow Pokemon, due to taking extra damage from most moves, tended to be glass cannons anyway.

Meanwhile, Casper had managed to get his setup in, so he would likely be fairly self-sustaining from this point on. With his energies focused and the held Shadow Lance, every hit he dealt should hit a critical point, powered up even more from his Sniper ability. Darik had made sure he'd learned the move Leech Life as well, making it quite easy for him to recover from almost any move by just spamming the draining move. It would take some pretty poor luck for him to be taken down at this point. This would likely be the only thing he would do from this point on in this raid.

"Okay, Casper, now you've gotten the ball rolling, use a Leech Life to damage that snake." Darik directed his small spider Pokemon. He hoped the Servine wasn't underestimating Casper just due to his small size.

OoC: Leech Life (80 BP, Shadow Lance, Sniper)

Now that our Toxic has landed, let's go for a Venoshock (130 BP because the target is badly poisoned)!

Raid Boss Servine
★★★

Health Gauge: 66%
Shields Up: 1
Status: Toxic, Confusion, SpAtk +6
Raiders: Light Screen (3)

Raid Boss Attack Summary

Attack 1: Leaf Storm (130 BP)
Leo, Shadow Heracross: 25 HP
Attack 1: Max Wyrmwind (90 BP)
Slash, Spinarak: 192 HP
Raid Challengers

Zorchic, Seviper: 400 HP (Atk -1)
Leo, Shadow Heracross: 6 HP (Atk -1) [Burned]
Dragons, Joltik: 300 HP
Slash, Spinarak: 192 HP (Atk -1) [Focused]
grassyglide, Vivillon: 300 HP
Median Dia, Ninetales Alola: 283 HP (Atk -1)

A resounding clapping rings through the clearing, the raucous applause empowering Heracross and causing a violent aura to flash to life around him. Lowering his horn he charges recklessly, landing a viscerally devastating blow upon Servine - and the following clamping Leech Life from Spinarak is enough to prompt dazzling shields to materialise. These are soon laid low by a barrage of attacks, with only one managing to remain intact. This clearly draws the ire of the haughty reptile, Servine lashing out with yet another blistering Leaf Storm before topping off with a Max Wyrmwind, looking to dissuade these boisterous interlopers.

Dynamax initiative: Zorchic, Seviper

The raiders again launched their barrage of attacks. Now that the grass snake was poisoned, the venomous snake on their side was capitalising on it with boosted uses of Venoshock. One raider even decided their own damage output was less important than the Heracross's, giving his damage output a Helping Hand. On the reserve side, with excellent luck on the Servine's end, and terrible luck from the raider's perspective, the Dynamax was again unhindered by the confusion, not losing a single move yet. A third Leaf Storm, again hitting the Shadow Heracross, maxed out the Servine's Special Attack, meaning it had set up what it needed. It followed up with a relatively weak Max Wyrmwind, hitting Casper and lowering a few of the raider's physical attack.

The drop in physically offensive power would not really affect Casper any, thankfully, as his critical hits would overcome that. Darik was concerned for the Heracross, however. That second hit of Leaf Storm and the burn damage seemed to have taken quite the toll on him, and he seemed to be barely standing. He could probably get off another strike, but would probably fall from the passive damage after that point. If the Servine didn't end up targeting him for another strike before the burn damage took him down, that was. He also seemed to have been afflicted by the spread of wind from the Servine's Dragon move as well, dropping his Attack power, and without the focus on critical hits that Darik had trained Casper for

The blow Casper took shouldn't be much of a problem, though, thankfully. A weak neutral off-type move, even in the form of a Max move, wouldn't be enough to keep him down. He should easily be able to sap more than enough with his next move to heal up that inflicted damage. There was one of the strange barriers hanging in front of the Servine, the others had been blown through already, but one of his allies was already taking action to take that down.

Wait, when a Dynamax Raid boss gathered the energy to form the shields, and the shields got eliminated, they tended to be winded and lose some defensive ability on both the physical and special ends of the spectrum. But he'd never faced one with the Contrary ability before. Would that same effect bulk up the Servine's defenses instead? Darik was not sure, though it seemed intuitive that it would. After all, he knew that shields being destroyed would activate the Competitive and Defiant abilities to raise the boss's offenses. Again, due to his build focusing on inflicting critical hits on weak points, Casper's moves would not be affected by that, but it might make things a trifle more difficult for his allies. He seemingly had the highest offensive output of the group currently anyway, in line with the Shadow Heracross when it wasn't struggling with offensive and defensive modifications, so overall it may not be much of an issue, but it was still a little concerning a prospect for his allies' sakes.

"You know the play, Casper." Darik continued with ordering his game plan. "Hammer away with another Leech Life. Snipe it with a powerful critical blow and heal yourself up in the process."

OoC: Leech Life (80 BP, Shadow Lance, Sniper)

Raid Boss Servine
★★★

Health Gauge: 43%
Shields Up: 3
Status: Toxic, Def +1, SpAtk +6. SpDef +1
Raiders: Light Screen (2)
KOs: 1

Raider Healing Summary
Slash, Spinarak (Leech Life): 300 HP

Raid Boss Attack Summary

Attack 1: Leaf Storm (130 BP)
Median Dia, Ninetales Alola: 78 HP
Attack 1: Leaf Storm (130 BP)
Slash, Spinarak: 198 HP
Raid Challengers

Zorchic, Seviper: 400 HP (Atk -1)

grassyglide, Vivillon: 300 HP
Median Dia, Ninetales Alola: 78 HP (Atk -1)

Vivillon tears down the final bulwark - but it is not long before they erect once more. Spinarak lands yet another brutal Leech Life, restoring much of their vitality in the process, while Heracross readies for one final devastating lunge. As he charges forwards he is urged on by Joltik, a faint orange aura flaring to life as he impacts - and Servine immediately deploys their defensive shields. The remaining raiders begin to chip away at these, and Servine hisses with distaste, unleashing Leaf Storm after Leaf Storm, deciding that what isn't broke mustn't be fixed.

Dynamaxing, then firing off a Max Flutterby (130BP?) based off of Signal Beam (75BP). The attack will be boosted by the held Vivillon Confetti Silver Powder (acts as Silver Powder)
