After a long and grueling week of cleaning crews and long hours - specialized equipment and careful handpicking - cleaning rocks, sand and debris from every corner of the hatchery - Miss Lulu finally felt confident that the Hatchery was ready to welcome the latest group of hatchlings into the world of Fizzy Bubbles.
Miss Lulu was always one to look on the bright side, and today was no different. Sure, she had sacrificed a great deal of rest, and what little remained of her free time that week, to the meticulous pursuit of rendering every square inch of the Hatchery spotless... but how pristine it looked! How perfect! Miss Lulu was sure that the building had not seen such cleanliness since it was first built... and even then, she thought with some glee, it was probably even cleaner now. It was in the middle of these delighted musings that Miss Lulu becomes aware of the sound of audible cracking - the first of this latest batch of baby Pokemon being born, no doubt - and that baby sounded like a strong one! Still riding on the high of her tidying accomplishments, Miss Lulu practically floats over to the incubation room, throwing the incubator doors wide open to welcome the new baby into this fresh, clean world! Just as Miss Lulu lifts the incubator doors to get a closer look at the little one emerging, she realizes her mistake... one moment too late. The crack resounds like an earthquake, as powerful jaws break free of the egg, releasing the baby within - and sand. Oh, Arceus, the sand. Sand everywhere. The baby clicks his jaws with glee upon accomplishing freedom - a week's worth of pounding against his rock-hard confines with ever-strengthening mandibles - it had all culminated to this moment! How proud he was! How gleeful! Miss Lulu could not help but be happy for him. She had to be. No baby should be born into the world to meet the face of disappointment. Once the little ground type was picked up by his doting trainer, then Miss Lulu could go about the business of cleaning the hatchery... again. --- Heather has hatched a Lv.1 Male Trapinch with EM Mud Shot. |

When Mint came in to pick up her little new face, she hadn't expected to begin coughing uncontrollably the moment she walked in the door. Nor had she expected to hear the crunching of something gritty beneath her shoes.
Nor had she expected to be faced with the aftermath of what appeared to be an explosion of sand. It was everywhere. It floated in the air, lay on the ground, clung to the walls. And in the center of it all was a traumatized-looking Ms. Lulu carrying an orange Ant Pit Pokemon looking absolutely pleased as punch with itself on its recently accomplished birth. Mint sighed, knowing this preciously adorable little monster was going to be quite the handful around the house, especially if it liked to spread sand this much, but she knew exactly what it would grow into one day, knowing just how much more she would love him when that day came. Thinking of what Poke Ball would end up being the little creature's home, she thought back to the Poke Ball she'd received from out of the blue, with that Dawn Stone and everything else. Reaching into her Bag, she brought out the Ball in question, the one with such a coveted, all-red sheen to it that would signify just how special its inhabitant was. Bopping the Cherish Ball to the Trapinch's head, it quickly encapsulated and secured him with a satisfying ding, and vanished as little Bantu was sent to Mint's PC storage. With that settled, Mint decided to help Ms. Lulu clean up the sand. Doubtlessly it was already caught up in her dress, so she should at least make the laundromat trip she would need worth the money, no? (OOC: Claiming little Bantu and placing him in my Cherish Ball, and using my TM Earthquake on him as well, both items from the casino event that I hadn't gotten around to using. I love him so muuuuuuch!)

Any thoughts Miss Lulu might have had about getting the Incubation Room into a semi-presentable state before the next hatch was ready are dashed before they have time to come to fruition. Indeed, Miss Lulu was only given barely enough time to provide Mint with her Trapinch and, in response to Mint's offer to help clean, point her in the direction of the cleaning supplies with a truly heartfelt thank you before yet another baby was making their debut into the world - this hatch, however, was brought to Miss Lulu's attention by the incubator's alert system, as the sound of the egg hatching was so soft, and the cracks were so small, that Miss Lulu would have needed the hearing of an Audino to pick it up. With a tiny crackle of static, the egg bursts open to reveal an itsy-bitsy Pokemon, whose blue eyes blink with curiosity.
Though Miss Lulu had hoped for a water type to hatch that would be able to wash the sand away, this little one would be perfect for creeping into crevices and getting bits of debris out from behind small corners - if the Pokemon's trainer wasn't already sitting with an eager expression in the waiting room, Miss Lulu might have assigned the little Pokemon to do just that. Of course, it was the duty of a Hatchery Attendant to deliver babies to their trainers as soon as possible... but the idea had already planted itself in Miss Lulu's head. Perhaps there was a tiny Pokemon cleaning crew she could hire, somewhere out there... Surely, the internet would provide. With Mint's help and a crew of tiny Pokemon, maybe the third hatch of the bunch would be the one to witness the Hatchery in a truly pristine state... Cradled safely in the palms of Miss Lulu's hands as the Hatching Attendant makes her way to the waiting room to present the waiting trainer their new Pokemon, the newly born spider might have avoided getting enlisted in cleaning duty today, but who knows what small, strange and wonderful corners of the world she would squeeze herself into in the future? --- CyberBlastoise has hatched a Lv.1 Female Joltik with EM Poison Sting. |

Junior Assistant Dr Newman knew he was going up in life. Sooner rather than later, at the very least, maybe he could drop the "junior" part of his job designation.
Certainty came from the fact that he was now being tasked with pulling double duty, with two simultaneous hatches - and one of them intended for one of the Elite Three, Gary. All things considered, surely it meant he was being noticed for doing something right. Right? The first egg to begin hatching was the offspring of a Corsola and a Kingler, an odd pairing for certain. The Kingler in particular was a very strange, and clearly very ancient specimen, having been taught techniques it should by all accounts never be able to use, such as Softboiled and Crossfire... But science dictated the baby would not turn out such an outlier. The egg's recipient was a Trainer who had been around Fizzytopia for much longer than Dr Newman, Hugo Harrison - although he had taken a considerable hiatus from adventuring. Now, he had returned in full, and Dr Grossman's apprentice was admittedly curious as to how he would put his new hatchling to use. "Here you go, Mr Hugo. I hope you cherish it." ----- Up next was Gary's turn; his request was even more peculiar from a scientific point of view: the Elite requested a breeding between two genderless Pokemon, a gorgeous Shiny Starmie and the always-enigmatic You can do this Newman. He may be the highest authority in the region but you've handled his requests before! Just... hope he doesn't ask any questions. Carefully, he placed the glass pod on the counter and cleared his throat. "E-erm... Here it is, your new companion. Now, you must be wondering how a Starmie and Ditto can produce an Egg!" He bowed respectfully and hastily stepped away. "Well then, good evening."

After days of hard work, Miss Lulu had finally managed to clean the Hatchery from top to bottom for the second time, though not without making the safe, optimal development of the eggs in her care her number one priority. Both eggs required special treatment, which had been logged carefully and monitored through the incubation units Miss Lulu maintained; the first egg, pale white with a pearlescent sheen, needed to be kept consistently at temperatures well below freezing. The second egg, which had the appearance of a rock with fragments of precious stone hidden within, needed to be kept at an extreme temperature and pressure - a Pokemon that normally took shape after millions of years underground, expected to be hatched within a week - but Miss Lulu spared no expense to ensure that these hatchlings were just as strong as their natural counterparts.
24 hours before the babies were due to hatch into the world, Miss Lulu gradually regulated the temperature and pressure of the incubators, accumulating them to the environment in which they would be born. Pokemon, especially in their infancy, were highly adaptable creatures, so even with the extremes that these babies had developed in, the transition was astonishingly smooth, and when the moment came, Miss Lulu felt confident in opening the incubator doors, to welcome the babies as they hatched. The effects of these shattered shells was like nothing Miss Lulu had experienced before. The ivory shell that had been encapsulated in a simulation of frigid winter burst open with a shimmering mist of crystalline snow, which filled the air with a fresh, chilly feel - simultaneously, a giant puff of diamond dust erupted from the second egg, filling the room with prismatic glitter and light. The effect was an otherworldly beauty far more enticing and inviting to the little ones than a sterile, pristine room, and two pairs of big, crystal blue eyes looked out into the world - though they belonged to different species, they both seemed to regard the display with a similar awe and wonder. The moment of their birth... was pure magic. Diamonds and sapphires. Luxury and charm. Both of these little gems were undeniably precious, and Miss Lulu only hoped that their trainers would cherish them for all that they were worth. --- EpicSquirtle has hatched a Lv.1 Female Alolan Vulpix. Another week at the Hatchery came and went, and Miss Lulu was ready and eager to greet the newest hatchling into the world. A steadily spreading network of cracks across the egg's shell indicated that the little one would arrive very soon, and as Miss Lulu carefully lifted the incubator shield, she peered in to check on the baby's progress.
Miss Lulu's presence seems to stir the baby to life, and a round, black head quickly emerges from the shell, swiveling about on a rather thin, stalk-like neck. Big, yellow eyes take in the world, with the toothy, white grin beneath them looking primed to take a bite out of life... and anything that got too close, really. Miss Lulu wisely takes a step back as the peculiar Pokemon surveys its surroundings with its wild, eerie eyes. The grin widens and the head appears to nod - at least it seemed to approve! The approval triggers a second head to more gradually and carefully emerge from the egg - a larger, yellow, giraffe-like head on the other side of the egg. The baby shakes her shell off and turns around; the body's physiology makes it clear that the first "head" to emerge was, in fact, tethered to a tail. What a fascinating creature, indeed! Not to worry, though - Miss Lulu has a delicious plate of Pokefood for both sides of the living palindrome, and each head gets a gentle pat upon receiving their food. The yellow head coos; the black head tries to take a bite of her hand, but Miss Lulu, fortunately, was swift with her affections. Where the yellow head eats daintily and politely, the dark head gobbles wildly and messily. Something about this baby girl seemed a bit more Futakuchi-Onna than Pushmi-pullyu, but maybe it was all in Miss Lulu's lonely, singular mind... --- biggggg5 has hatched a Lv.1 Female Girafarig with EM Mean Look. |

Quite the opposite, in fact. "She has one just like you... She's amazing, you know?" he said in a whisper, speaking to the Egg as if it could hear him. It was scientifically preposterous to even consider it, of course. It didn't stop Newman. "Althea Lynn, the Lady in White. I wonder if we are fated to meet one day... if she will ever come to this Hatchery seeking my services." Realistically, so what if she did? The Huntress wouldn't look at him twice. And besides - as he so often had to remind himself - the Hatchery wasn't about him. It was about allowing Pokemon to perpetuate their species, giving them the perfect habitat to multiply and delivering the beloved offsprings to their eager Trainers. Right. I'm just a middle man in the process. Nobody comes here to see me - nobody would even notice if I was replaced with a Mr. Mime, I'm sure. The Egg radiated an ominous aura. Or rather, because he knew what was inside, he couldn't help but feel slightly uneasy. Yes, the Pokemon's reputation as a harbinger of disaster was ill-deserved, but the belief was too widespread and entrenched in people's minds that even he, a scholar in the making, flinched slightly at the idea of keeping the hatchling around longer than strictly necessary. And so, it was time to part with it. "Well, here you go. I look forward to seeing what it grows to become under your care."
