Expert Trainer Battle: darkrai vs. Yuki.N
The sun was out shining as hard as it possibly could but very little of it reached the ground in this arid region. The air was bitterly cold and harsh icy winds blew across the snow strewn grown stirring up the white powder letting it fly. It was mad to think that anyone was travel here and for a battle of all things! The arena was marked out by a thin line of rocks and the expanse of icy land hardly changed from the rest around it. In the northern corner was a small frozen lake with only a thing sheet of ice atop it, best to watch your step here!
Both trainers arrived at the same time bundled up in warm clothing and shivering slightly. They caught sight of their referee dressed in indigo and black thermal clothing beaming a big bright smile at them through. She rubbed at the goggles on her eyes and pushed her hair back inside her fur-lined hood beckoning both trainers over to her so they could here her over the noise of the wind. "Welcome to you both, its nice to see you again. I hope you're both happy with this arena, I feel since this is such an immense battle it deserved an arena that fit it. I have yet to referee a match in such an arena and was excited to see how you and your Pokemon would handle the extreme field. Now I'll go over the rules one time before we begin." darkrai vs. Yuki.NShe allowed them time to prepare themselves whist retrieving a coin from her pocket. She assigned darkrai to Heads and Yuki.N to Tails and gave it a quick flip: "Tails". Once she was sure they understood the rules she went through the order of play: – I need PM’s from both of you including your Pokemon, their stats, any healing items being declared, and your attacks for the first round."Ice Ice Baby!" Round 1

Quote:
Custard is much faster than the large Golem he faced and clutching his tail he charged towards Forte catching him with a Fake Out totally surprising him. It had hardly hurt but it was enough to make Forte flinch and miss the chance to perform his first move. Custard chirps with pleasure of having the early upper hand and quickly makes his next move. He breathes out a thin sheet of ice that begins to swirl around Forte before entering his nose and mouth making him cough and splutter. The Brain Freeze would begin to attack him from the inside out soon enough. Forte shakes off the pain and begins to try and Dig into the ground but the soil and dirt is very hard and frozen over. He is able to get under the snow and make a hole 1 metre deep but is unable to go any further. Custard doesn't pay much attention to the Golem as he is staring into the sky. A small beam of light suddenly fires from his beak into the air, very soon the Hail will fall thick and heavy. From his spot in his little hole Forte Bulks Up boosting his attack and defences for the coming battle. OoC - Is it too late to declare healing items? Didn't realize we were including them.
Jessica's face couldn't help but light up like a child's on Christmas come early. Everything was going smoothly so far, even better than she could have hoped for thanks to some questionable decisions on her opponent's part. Despite her earlier grievances, the terrain was definitely tipping in their favor. Custard grinned, content with the review of appetizers but eager to serve a second cold dish to the exposed bowling ball, it being the best time to do so. "All right, Custard, keep it up! If he wants to hide underground, let's help him out. Cover him up with a great big AVALANCHE. Be sure to FLY up quickly to avoid getting buried yourself, or in case he gets any funny ideas to try and drag you down. Finally, blow a BLIZZARD for good measure." |

Round 2
Jessica was extremely pleased with how events had panned out so far, her Delibird had the early lead and had set up several moves that would only benefit them both later on. John was a man of few words and silently stared at the two Pokemon as the battle begun. It was hard to tell if he was pleased or not with how the battle had begun. Custard was ready to ice over his opponent once more and Forte was glaring out at him from under the snow.
Custard flaps his wings excitedly and leaps up before landing back down on the ground causing a wave of Avalanche to rise forth from the ground and wash over Forte covering him in yet more snow and dealing damage to boot. Another good start! Forte grumbles under the snow and begins to shake it off as Custard Flys up out of harms way, ready if he decides to do anything tricky. Forte roars as he extracts himself from the snow and prepares to attack when he feels the Brain Freeze eat at his mind making him hold his head in pain. Once the pain wears off he can still remember his attack orders and he stares up at Custard. He narrows his eyes, he was being shown up by this little bird, well h would bring him down a peg or teo! Small pointed rocks force their way out of the snow before surrounding forte in a series of rings. He grins up at Custard before launching his Stone Edge at him. Custard tries to dodge but is caught by the attack and sent sprawling in the snow. Custard picks himself back up looking unbelievably battered and gives his trainer a pained look. He was too weak against Rock attacks to take another! He had to act now and attack before he was taken out! How things had turned and so very quickly, he was on top and in one move he was nearly ready to call it quits. He flaps his wings over and over summoning a wave of Blizzard that adds to the light snow in the air and it covers Forte. He groans in pain and holds his arms before his face trying to shield himself from the onslaught but it was no use. His lower half starts to freeze from the fet up before Custard runs out of steam and ceases his attack. He pants a little and looks upon his opponent with a pained smile, that would do for now. Forte is unable to move, but that doesn't prevent him from attack again. He is able to summon more rocks that begin to circle around him. Custard looks back at Jessica with a little sorrow in his eyes, he had hoped to fight longer for her. He had hoped to eliminate the army her opponent was preparing to send against her but he was too weak, he could not combat these rocks. Even if he dodged he would most likely take damage and it would be enough. Forte released his Stone Edge and Custard makes a last attempt to dive but the rocks catch his right side throwing him back towards Jess. He comes to a stop before her his eyes closed, he was unable to battle! That's turning things around! Forte grunts in pleasure, that was more like it, he showed that bird. Suddenly the heavens open up and the snow falls hard and faster and thick chunks of Hail follow battering into Forte's skin making him wince in pain. Okay so mentally gloating was not such a good idea after all! Jessica's face became as pale as her surroundings when she saw Custard fall from the sky. For a minute, there was only heavy snow and silence. Then he landed, not with the grace of a swan, but a pitiful plop befitting a penguin. And yet, despite his stature, you could not deny the look of pride he wore even in sleep. Jessica smiled and bent down to soothe his feathers. He was not an angel, or a soldier, or both – nor did he believe himself so. He was a pompous, bigheaded bird, and a glutton to boot. But he always content with those simple facts, and that was his charm. Still, he wanted to win a war for his trainer’s sake, but he hadn’t needed to in order to prove himself. He was always her first partner, and he had done his part. That was enough.
Now, it was up to the only one who could take his place. Jessica shook the second ball from her sleeve. This one held no special markings, but its contents were more than special to her all the same. From the light burst forth a blue creature, flaunting fabulousness. He stopped short when he saw the comatose Custard though, and shook his head as he shrugged his appendages. Though his solemn “Why?” seemed to express concern, his actions suggested, “This is what I expected.” As he lifted his arms under Custard’s flippers to help support his (heavy) pal back to the box, the penguin stirred, and squawked in protest when he realized the compromising position he was in. He struggled weakly to escape, but Bobble asserted a firm hold. He grinned at his flailing load and quipped something along the lines of “Bit off more than you could chew, eh?” to which Custard snapped back an unintelligible string of curses. Or so Jessica imagined the conversation went as Bobble half-dragged, half-bore the defiant Delibird to a bank to rest. She suppressed a giggle, knowing the two were bonding in their own way. Then, in an astonishing attempt to convince Custard to stay put, Bobble unwrapped the lovely Pink Scarf, his primary possession he was never seen without, from around his neck and draped it over the drained penguin like a blanket. Custard blinked and lightly felt the warm knitted fabric, unsure what to make of such a generous gesture from his longtime rival. …No, his greatest friend. The two shared a look of Go get ‘em, Blue Boy. Don’t worry, Santa sir, you can count on me. I’ll avenge you. You better! Or I’ll make you eat frozen fish for a week! With that, Blue Boy saluted, and turned his back before marching out onto the field, his biggest rival jeering… No, his best friend cheering him on. OoC – With permission from darkrai, putting 3x Potions (4, 5, & 6 of 10) on standby for use during the match. Also I hope there’s not a problem with “transferring” Bobble’s Hold Item to Custard for RP purposes, seeing as it’s only used in Contests. |

Jessica pondered the situation before her, weighing her options carefully. On the one hand, Bobble had more than enough stamina and ability to COUNTER or even PAYBACK Forte in full for defeating his friend (who was currently shouting that he didn't care how much damage Blue Boy took, just beat the big bowling ball to dust). Jessica clamped his beak shut so he wouldn't distract her. It didn't make sense to let Blue Bo- er, Bobble, take the hits when their opponent was already so weak on his feet - literally. Especially after seeing what those stones did to Custard.
But was there any way to avoid injury? She frowned as Bobble flexed his arms, eager to try out his signature move. Her first thought was to surround the opponent to prevent any form of attack, but his stubby arms might not summon enough to make it over the top. Considering the user's small size, perhaps stone would serve better as a shield instead. Would rock really hold out against rock in this situation though? She reconsidered. Perhaps PROTECT would be more effective, but also costly in energy. Then they could hopefully take advantage of the opening between attacks to send an ENERGY BALL barreling the opponent's way. She shook her head. What if none of their defenses worked though? Perhaps the best course of action would be to simply go on the offensive and salvage what health they could hope to by DRAIN PUNCHing the sitting target to oblivion. As she wavered this way and that, she cast a hopeful look to the referee for help, who denied her with a shake of the head (and a knowing smile) as she crossed her arms. Jessica sighed and deliberated deeply, feeling silly for finding herself so stuck on such a small decision. What would her sister, so young and carefree, do in this situation? A smile stole her lips. She laughed and tossed her head back, seeming suddenly to transform into a different person as her eyes twinkled with delight. Such cheerful abandon in the face of bitter darkness almost made her look dangerous. But she knew exactly what to do now. "Combine ALL the attacks! ROCKTOMBENERGYBALLFALCONDRAINPAWNCH~!" Bobble startled so much at his trainer's surprising declaration that his shades nearly fell of his face. He turned to her with a "Why?" that clearly meant "Come again?" Even Custard gawked at the strange girl with great concern. She was no longer acting like the Jess they knew. She blinked as the fearlessness faded from her face, leaving only the shy and withdrawn statue underneath. The sudden surge of sunshine was gone. No longer blazing, she practically blended into the snow. She coughed, then quietly clarified: "I mean, use ROCK TOMB to defend against the attacks, and when you spot an opening, strike with ENERGY BALL. If he's still standing after that or you get hit, try to gain back some health by finishing him with DRAIN PUNCH. |

Round 2
So very quickly Custard had fallen to his foe in a mere two rounds. The proud penguin who had boasted that he would defeat the entire army of Pokemon sent before him to battle had been the first casualty. He had not gone down without a fight though and Forte was badly injured himself and half of his rocky hide was frozen solid. Jess sends out her next warrior, a small Wynaut called Bobble who stared at the prone form of his friend. He sighed as he collected him with his ears and helped carry him back to his trainer. He left a token gesture of his pink scarf and sunglasses that had the proud Delibird speechless and touched beyond words. He knew that the little psychic would avenge him and finish off the beast before him. John was concerns about his starter, he may have the early lead but it would be difficult to prevent Forte taking any damage with him being a open target. It was best to go on the offensive.
He orders Forte to try a trio of Stone Edges. Forte pushes past the freezing cold pain running down his legs to draw yet more stones from the cold earth. They swirled around his body and Bobble narrowed his gaze upon the creature. His trainer's outburst had worried him, she had been worrying him recently; she had not been herself. When she had calmed down and issued her orders he was quick to respond being the fresh of the two. He tapped into his own rock energies and as the Stone Edge is fired his way he erects a small Rock Tomb before him. The tomb takes the brunt of the attack but a few errant stones get through and hit Bobble for some light damage. Bobble peers out from behind his tomb to see Forte preparing another attack. He has the advantage of energy and so prepares his own attack. Both Pokemon hope to beat the other and Bobble finishes charging his Energy Ball and launches it at Forte just before he finishes charging his attack. He grunts in pain as the super-effective energy explodes on his upper body and he slumps forward KO'd; his frozen lower body preventing him from collapsing to the ground entirely. Jessica winced as some of the shrapnel connected with her blue soldier. Perhaps they should have stuck with PROTECT after all. Still, she smiled to see their opponent then go down with one hit. Custard cheered, and Bobble grinned back as the two shared an aerial high-five. However, there was little time to celebrate, as their next enemy appeared in a flash of light, brandishing bent dining ware. This one's forte appeared to be brain rather brawn. As such, she decided to switch her strategy to one of more precaution.
"Good work, Bobble. Now, let's try blinding him first with FLASH. Show him your full fabulousness. Then TAUNT him, followed by DOUBLE TEAM." |

Spectral, shall we begin? Since you're somewhat fresher, we might an advantage here. FLASH him before he does. CLOSE your EYES afterwards, he might still try to flash you, and answer his taunt with a nice SHADOW BALL. |

Round 4
Each trainer had lost a Pokemon each and only 3 rounds into their epic match. Neither trainer was holding back and they had selected their most powerful warriors for this war and the high powered moves had already been thrown. Forte is quickly returned to his Pokeball, now both trainers had lost their starters. He is replaced by an Alakazam called Spectral, a mentally superior being and another Psychic Pokemon. This should be an interesting match-up for sure. Both Pokemon sized the other up, it would appear that Spectral had an advantage in size and power but this Wynaut was wily and had a few tricks up his sleeves.
Both Pokemon move simultaneously and let loose bright Flashes which is mostly absorbed by the environment which was white and bright too. Both Pokemon see a few spots before their eyes but their vision wasn't too badly impaired. Bobble begins to Taunt Spectral letting loose a string of insults including the failure of his last move and the Alakazam's eyes narrow as he feels his anger rise. How dare that little blue blob insult him, he was far more powerful a Pokemon and he would show him. Spectral charges up an orb of ghostly energy between his hands and like an expert baseball pitcher throws the Shadow Ball right at Bobble who squeals in pain as it crashes into him sending wisps of purple and black energy into the air and snow. Bobble picks himself up out of the snow hearing his trainer and team-mate cheering him on. That had hurt but he still had much more to give. He begins to move back and forth in the snow leaving lots of little footprints in his wake. Soon there was a copy of him and then another and he comes to a stop, three Wynauts staring at their opponent ... try and hit him now! Round 5
Spectral had started off strong dealing a good blow to Bobble but the little Wynaut had responded with a defensive move. Now three Wynauts faced the enraged Alakazam and he had no way to tell which one was which, or did he? His trainer orders a Miracle Eye, that would allow him to easily see the real Bobble but the Taunt remained in his mind. Why should he have to search out the little critter, he couldn't hide from him, he would find him. Forget the Miracle Eye, he would attack and hit him he was sure of it. Confident and under the effects of the Taunt, Spectral powers up his Shadow Ball and throws it towards Bobble ... and totally misses destroying a clone.
Bobble grins, now it was his turn and expending a large amount of energy pumping it into the ground. Blue lines suddenly shoot out from his position reaching the corners of the arena before shooting up into the sky and joining together to form a glowing blue cage over the ice and snow. The trainers and referee stood staring in awe with blue glows on their faces as the Trick Room comes into effect. The cage disappears but it was definitely still there as was proof when Bobble moves with great speed into his next move Calming his Mind. Spectral narrows his eyes, that Wynaut was really tricky and now he was quicker than him. He would show him. He charged up a last Shadow Ball as he runs out of ghost energy but spots Bobble ... the Bobbles doing the same. Both Pokemon fire their attacks and Spectral grunts stumbling back as his he holds his chest where the orbs struck him. He looks calmer now as he regains his senses. Bobble had gone rolling over in the snow as Spectral was lucky enough to strike him with his attack but he still had the one clone remaining. Round 6
Bobble had certainly come out on top of the last round showing that he was not to be taken for granted. He maybe smaller and now have the raw power of the Alakazam but he so many tricks up his sleeves and he was pulling them out leaving Spectral guessing every round. Spectral had eliminated a clone and had struck Bobble a good blow with his Shadow Ball, he was also not taunted any longer so things weren't so bad for him either.
Bobble shows his new found speed and shows off his Swagger wiggling his booty and strutting through the snow cockily grinning at Spectral. The Alakazam looks incensed, this Wynaut was so full of himself, first he taunts him when he is quite obviously the superior Pokemon and then he has the gall to do this! Spectral's eyes glaze over but he feels his attack power raising from his anger. Spectral hears his orders and thinks about Flashing when his mind goes blank, what was he supposed to do again? Bobble and his clone take advantage of the confused Alakazam and black energy begins to form before them. He grins and fires the Dark Pulse towards Spectral, the black-purple rings closing the gap before slamming into the fox making him grunt and stumble backwards. Spectral is still confused looks about for the Wynaut that did that but only succeeds in falling over his feet and into the snow. The bobbles laugh at their foe's predicament and Spectral gets back to his feet feeling embarrassed and even more annoyed. He turns to face the two Bobbles and suddenly fires off a Charge Beam. Bobble's eyes widen and he tries to remember which barrier to erect. It comes to him at the last minute and his body glows as if surrounded with glass. The attack however misses him and destroys his last clone. Bobble relaxes and Spectral still looks pissed off and confused but suddenly the winds pick up and a blast of snow hits both Pokemon as a Blizzard fills the arena. Both Pokemon shiver and look about no long er able to make out the other. This would certainly make the next round more interesting. Round 7
The blizzard blew through the arena making visibility diffuclt, chilling both competitors down and making their movements sluggish. The trainers could only hope it would blow over soon as they pulled their winter clothing tighter to their bodies. John was being conservative with his orders whilst Jess was being a little more creative.
Spectal begins to Calm his Mind and he just begins to feel the effects when a dark curse surrounds his body, sensing him from the distance. Before he can gain the boosts from the attack Bobble Snatches them from his grasp. Spectral at least looks to be out of his confused state but that tricky little Wynaut had done it again! Bobble moves onto his next genius move, supplied by his trainer and begins to clap applauding the great move Spectral performed. He cheers him on with his Encore but with the amount of snow and noise from the Blizzard it fails completely, Spectral can't even see Bobble! Bobble looks disappointed and suddenly really tired. He's low on energy now so he plops on down into the snow and falls asleep, Resting to regain some energy and health in return. As quickly as it came the Blizzard begins to die down until a light snowfall falls allowing all those involved in the battle to see one another again. The walls of the Trick Room flash up blue before they sink back into the ground. It appears as though that's gone too! Jessica tsked at the failure to applaud and occupy the opponent. Bobble was now asleep and regaining some energy, but it wasn't nearly enough. In fact, it may have been a mistake to make him a sitting duck. Their only hope of snow cover was vanishing too. She sighed as she lifted her eyes to the sky, wishing winter's blessing had lasted one more round. At this rate, the outcome was obvious.
Still, Bobble had done well to even the playing field. Custard was satisfied, and Jess was simply proud. She smiled, taking some consolation in the fact that being on the brink of exhaustion meant the opponent would not be able to take much from his victory (assuming he was smart enough to perform the move she both expected and dreaded). Perhaps their efforts had not gone to waste after all. "Good work, Bobble. If you wake up, use DESTINY BOND. If not, um... Try and think unpleasant thoughts?" |

Round 8
Jess could sense that Bobble had done all he can in this war and now it was his time to bow out, but he wasn't going to go gracefully. He sat peacefully sleeping in the snow, a fine layer forming on his blue body. She was proud of his efforts, he had proven his worth, he was a Pokemon worth taking seriously and even Spectral could admit that. The Alakazam stood staring at his smaller opponent with awe, he was still hanging on though he was close to fainting. Well it was time to finish him off.
Bobble was blissfully unaware of the Alakazam sending a Confusion his way, the thin blue beam of Psychic energy entering his mind and causing some pain. Spectral waits to see if the blue blob will wake up but he seems to stir but then continue to sleep. He sighs and begins to Calm his Mind when he feels a dark aura surround his body. He grimaces as the Snatch curse upon him causes the boosts to go over to Bobble, how could he have forgotten about that? Bobble wakes up at the end of the round and looks around blearily. He feels a lot more refreshed and stares at Spectral. It seemed pointless using Destiny Bond since no further attacks would be fired so he stood happy in the knowledge that he was back in the battle. He wouldn't be able to use Rest again though so he'd better work hard to win. Health: 56% Energy: 49% Status: Atk ++ Ghost Energy Depleted Health: 49% Energy: 30% Status: Sp. Atk +++ Sp.
