Chad watched the egg break apart to reveal an unusual Pokémon that he'd never seen before. "Miss, are you sure this is mine?" he asked curiously. When the attendant nodded back, he took out his Pokedex to double-check:

Dwebble grabbed the Pokeball out of Chad's hands. He tried spit his rock-dissolving liquid on the Pokeball, but the liquid didn't do anything. Next, he tried to open the Pokeball to put it on his back, but inadvertently he clicked the capture mechanism. The Pokeball clicked open and engulfed Dwebble, capturing him.

"Well that was odd," Chad said laughing. "C'mon Dwebble. Let's go find you a stone!"

OOC: The Pokeball used was #8 out of 20.

It had been a week since Marion returned to her Secret Base from the Egg House in a seemingly possessed state, with a strange Enigma Egg in her possession. The moment she returned to her home, she mechanically entered the living room and sat down in her favorite antique chair, unmoving and unblinking, with the egg sitting on her lap. Try as her Pokemon might to wake her from her trance, they were unsuccessful in eliciting more than one or two-word responses from their beloved trainer, who sat almost perfectly still for the entire week. No one saw her eat or sleep. Occasionally, she would pick up the egg and cradle it, or soothe it as if it were going through some horrific, body-distorting trauma, though not even the most acute listeners among Marion's team could hear the voice of whatever happened to be growing inside... Though late at night, the sound of something crawling, as if through a narrow tunnel, haunted their ears, even though Marion's silhouette could still be seen, rigid and still, in the same chair in the living room.

Finally, on the eve of the Egg's hatching, Marion began to stir once again; still in a trance, she gently picked up the Enigma Egg, which was beginning to show tiny spider cracks in its shell. With a dead look on her face, Marion entered the egg house, placing the hatchling on the counter for the attendant to inspect. As Marion stares into the cracks, she finally begins to react, her trance slowly breaking;

"I-I see something! It's slowly coming this way!"

Indeed, something appeared to be trying to force its way out of the cracks, making a sickening shuffling noise as it attempts to escape the tight, unforgiving confines of the egg...

From the egg, a wretched noise... the sound of something pushing its way out of the egg, out of the darkness... DDR... DDR... DDR... Marion can see something twisted and purple making its way through the cracks, elongated and horrifying. What could this thing possibly be?

The purple tail emerges, causing the egg to shatter; out bounces the smiley, happy Aipom attached to the tail, his attitude in stark contrast to the eerie circumstances surrounding his hatching. Marion raises an eyebrow at the cheerful monkey. Perhaps the strange events surrounding Marion's behavior had nothing to do with the hatchling, but with the egg itself... Perhaps the egg had strange properties which dissipated after the egg was broken. Of course, one never knows what madness exists behind the smile, and this little Aipom was no exception.

Recalling the smiling Aipom to his new Pokeball [3/20], Marion nearly jumps at the sound of her growling tummy, realizing that she hadn't eaten in nearly a week. As she bounds off to go get herself some breakfast, the Egg House attendant waves after her and her new Aipom, only to find herself distracted as she notices some slender cracks forming in the walls of the building...
