There was a Donphan in the room... and a very large Donphan at that.

Jirachi's Casino bled a foreboding cloud of greed and uncertainty over the surrounding area. The Casino was bustling, but the locale most certainly was not. The locals who weren't interested in the casino walked past it on the street like it was non-existent, avoiding eye contact with the facility, possibly in hopes that it was a problem that would solve itself.

But this problem was not going to solve itself. In fact, it's hard to know exactly what the problem even was. With what little information was available, all anyone could determine was that there was enough circumstantial evidence and strange going-ons surrounding the Casino that they just knew that something was off - so off, in fact, that it left trainers and law enforcement alike completely befuddled as to how to proceed, or if they should even continue to investigate at all.

But the Donphan in the room was growing larger by the second.

Noppera, the Mimikyu, looked to his trainer as the two stood across the way from the building. Hiero had just finished disclosing all of the details he could to his partner, even going so far as to showing him news reports and floor layouts on his Holo Caster. Adamant to get inside and investigate the establishment himself, the Mimikyu turned to his trainer eagerly and extended its claws from under its veil, flexing them outward and aggressively punching them together.

"Whoa, Pera, take it easy! I get it, I get! You want a boost, right?" The Mimikyu nodded intensely, not making any attempts to hide its possible overconfidence. Hiero pulled out seven Rare Candies and fed them to the fairy-ghost-type, who anxiously grabbed them out of his hand and scarfed them down. The Pokemon instantly felt rejuvenated, twirling excitedly and extending his claws out even further, flexing them once more.

"I'm glad you're excited bud, but let's try to keep it on the DL, okay?" The Mimikyu froze, slowly retracting his claws and nodding sheepishly. "Besides - I have another present for you. Take a look..." Hiero pulled out a Technical Machine from his backpack and showed it to his Pokemon. "This is a Technical Machine for the move Shadow Force. This is an extremely powerful attack, Pera. Legends say that it is the signature move of one of the deities of the Sinnoh region, but... well, who knows. It could just be an old wives' tale. But if we're going to be going into a place as potentially dangerous as this, we need to make sure we are fully prepared for whatever comes our way." The Mimikyu looked up at his trainer quietly and stared at him. Hiero wasn't sure how the Pokemon felt - he always tried to do his best to respect his Pokemon by letting them make decisions like this one for themselves. However, after a moment, the Mimkyu gradually slipped its claws out once more from underneath of its shroud. He wrapped his hands around the TM and felt it carefully within his grasp before lifting it out of his trainer's hands and pulling it inward toward its body. The Pokemon stared at it carefully, and then closed his eyes. What happened next only lasted only for a few seconds - one might have missed it had they turned their head away for only a moment. The Pokemon became surrounded with a dark purple aura, and its shadow seemed to take on a life of its own - and then suddenly, the technical machine shattered and fell to the ground, and Pera vanished.

"Kkykyu..." Hiero felt a tugging at his back, and found the Mimikyu sitting behind him as though nothing had happened. He seemed shocked, but then smiled and rubbed his head. "I guess that means it worked, huh pal?"

The fun didn't last long. The pair had distracted themselves just long enough to forget the fact that they were about to walk into possibly one of the most dangerous adventures that had been on yet. Hiero was right - if they wanted to succeed, they were going to need to use every trick and tool at their disposal. The two looked at each other anxiously and proceeded to walk toward the gates of the casino.

"Right then, Pera, first thing is first," Hiero nodded, wearing his best poker face, "like I said earlier - we're heading downstairs." The Mimikyu mimicked his trainer, walking in lockstep with him as they entered through the doors of the establishment.

((To prepare for their mission, Noppera the Mimikyu was elevated to Level 21 and has learned Mimic and Shadow Force))

In the center of the lobby is a massive fountain, lit by natural light from a star-shaped window above. The fountain depicts Jirachi, water spewing forth from his third eye, as statues of various Pokemon swim and play happily in the pool of water below. Behind this statue, one can continue STRAIGHT AHEAD to explore the rest of this floor. If the mood strikes you, of course, you could always turn around and go back OUTSIDE.

There are seven visible security cameras around the room – two point at the front door, one points at the check-out counter, one points at the fountain's back side, one points at the stairwell and one points at the entrance to the elevator.

Seiko continued to scan the crowded lobby nervously. What compelled her to come to such a place? The gambler's scene definitely wasn't her jive, and she had little desire for worldly goods aside from the bare necessities to scrape by--at least, for the time being. If the rumors she'd heard along the Fizzby grapevine pertaining to the infamous Jirachi Casino were indeed true, she do her damnedest to keep herself from getting mixed up in any criminal escapades.

What, then, drew her to the hub of seedy activity on this fair-weathered day? To right a grave wrongdoing. To make right the purging of tens of thousands of Fizzbian coin accounts, the smuggling of rare and exotic Pokemon... yes, as long as there were allies at her back, Seiko would answer the call to mete justice on scammers and crooks. Give them a run for their money!

The Sinnoh native sighed, adjusting the baseball cap-aviator shades-combo she donned for the occasion, a gesture pantomimed by her right-hand Croagunk, Zelos. He grinned in his usual derisive manner before elbowing his trainer in a show of good humor. She frowned.

"Zelos," Seiko began, planting her hands on her hips, her voice just above a whisper. "None of that. We're here on a mission."

The poison frog slouched at his trainer's dismissive comment. The half-sneer that stretched across his jowls was the very picture of malcontent... what a killjoy, it seemed to say. He knew they had a job to do, but that honestly didn't have to cut fun from the equation, did it?

Seiko eyes lingered over the guards stationed about the lobby. The atmosphere was too stifling here. She motioned for her companion to follow, pointing to the staircase leading downstairs. "Hey, this way, Zelos."

Already this was shaping out to be a bad day for Drew Boyd.

"Cas. ...Cas, listen to me. I'm telling you, you can't give Ivan an inch or he'll take a mile. And then he'll do something stupid like try to overthrow you and Eve as 'the rulers' and then everyone will be unhappy mostly with you for letting it get that far. ...That was oddly specific because that is literally something he's tried in the past."

When he woke up that morning, about the last thing Drew had planned to do was get stuck on the phone for hours on end. So, of course that's what happened. Seated at the desk in his base here in Fizzytopia, with his arms resting on the wood surface, one hand holding his cell up to his ear and the other pinching the bridge of his nose, Drew looked exactly as done with this conversation as he felt.

"...Casper, Cas, no, stop," he muttered in vain as the person on the other end kept talking away, having devolved into ranting at this point. In coming here on this... well, vacation, for lack of any better term, he'd thought he'd found the right people to watch his Pokémon Ranch for him. Evidently, he had missed the mark just a tad.

"Yo, Drew, come look at the news!" Rotom's voice rang out suddenly from the living room, startling Drew.

Turning his gaze skyward in a clear "why me" manner, Drew covered the receiver end. "What's going on now?"

"Seriously, just come look!"

When Rotom's voice was echoed by Donnie and Tank, Drew sighed heavily but stood and made his way out from his bedroom, phone still muffled. He was sure Casper would continue ranting undaunted. Passing by the lift and into the living room, Drew took in the assembled group. It seemed every one of his team had gathered, except Zylia, but that was hardly surprising. Reclining across one of the two sofas, Stealth held the TV remote loosely in his clawed grip, an uncharacteristic tenseness in his shoulders. Across the other, Corvinus and Ace perched side-by-side with matching stony expressions. Tank, Donnie, and Sahara huddled together, the younger two visibly distraught. That just left Rotom himself, floating above the dining table, his face a blank mask. The television transfixed all of them.

Now, by itself, his team entranced by the TV wasn't really an oddity. Since moving into their humble little bush, the team had frequent movie or game nights, well attended by all again except Zylia. Normally though, there was a certain level of chaos taking place between accusations of cheating (generally towards Rotom) or complaints of pranks (also generally towards Rotom). Today, a hush had fallen over them all. If it weren't for Casper in his ear, the only sound in the room would have been the television itself.

Looking at the TV, Drew found he'd entered during the middle of whatever report was running. A serious-looking female newscaster filled the screen. "-in addition to the sudden emptied coin accounts, casinos and other such gambling establishments have reported scores of prize Pokémon and items vanishing without a trace. Security footage and eyewitness accounts have corroborated this strange story – Pokémon and items alike have been disappearing into thin air regardless of the level of security or number of witnesses present. For many of these establishments, the cost of replenishing the missing items and Pokémon has been unrecoverable, leading to the closure of many beloved businesses.

"Thus far, only one Pokémon has been reportedly recovered, a young Mime Jr. named Feste. Expert Psychic-type interrogators have questioned this Mime Jr., and believe they have a lead for these thefts at Jirachi's Casino, here in Fizzytopia. Jirachi's has been seemingly untouched by this strange phenomenon, but locals have reported that the Casino has gone through drastic renovations and is nearly unrecognizable in its current state. Local law enforcement has attempted to force entry to little success even with aid of some of this region's Elite, and with psychic testimony still unrecognized in court of law probable cause for a warrant seems unlikely. More on this story - and a debate on the ethics and legality of telepathic interrogation and testimony - after the break."

The news station flipped to commercial. From his seat, Stealth muted the TV, tossing the remote onto the cushion next to him. Several seconds passed in silence, finally broken when Drew murmurs a soft "huh."

Behind him, Rotom cleared his throat. "So, word on the street is that some of the locals are planning a heist on this casino place." After a couple questioning glances, Rotom huffed. "What? You guys have your hobbies, I have mine."

As the group descended into chatter, Drew pursed his lips. Items and stuff, whatever, they were material things. Yeah, those vanishing was bad for businesses and crap, but that was the extent of that. It took a special kind of scum, though, to steal Pokémon, even from a place like a casino.

To steal back stolen Pokémon, though...

A grin found its way onto Drew's face. "Hey, you lot," he spoke up over the din of everyone, "You lot thinking what I'm thinking?" An answering, wicked grin showed Rotom was already on board, while twin smirks from the resident thieves signaled their support. Ace let out an excited whoop, ready to test out her latest Nitro-9 attempt. Of the others, the trio of youngsters seemed apprehensive, but only Sahara looked like she might be against Drew's insinuation.

Drew brought the nearly forgotten phone back up to his ear. "Hey Cas," he spoke, cutting off what honestly must have been an impressive rant given the circumstances. "I'm going to have to get back to you later. Something's come up. ...What? No, I don't know where Muddy disappears. He's a Mudkip, they don't do much."

It was like a prison, Drew thought as he approached the imposing facility that housed his target. A glittering, gilded prison. With confirmation from Rotom that all the other would-be thieves would be casing the place today, Drew found himself with no choice but to do the same. Strength in numbers and all that. He'd have preferred a little more time to prep, but the day he'd had would work for now.

There'd been an impressive argument, amidst his team. Corvinus and Stealth both had argued that only one Pokémon should be out with Drew when casing to keep memorability low and that under no circumstances should Rotom be present. The plasma Pokémon, naturally, had been quite offended. Drew, forced into the role of mediator, couldn't help but agree that handy as Rotom would be with surveillance systems, he was kind of the opposite of subtle. If they ended up going with an in-your-face attempt that night, Rotom might come into play, but for now? Stealth was the name of the game. It was a little ironic, then, that the eponymous Pokémon was tucked away in his Poke ball, a last resort option should things go pear-shaped. Nope, Drew decided to play to strengths, and with air support and a decade of experience at cat-burglary, Corvinus the Murkrow seemed the best choice.

Presently, the crow flapped alongside Drew, waiting for his cue. Reaching the edge of the facility, Drew gave a shallow nod. With a nod in acknowledgement of his own, Corvinus split off, swooping up into the skies above the building while Drew kept walking towards and past the entrance.

They'd decided, quite reasonably they thought, that any plans for the inside would be useless if they couldn't get into the building to begin with. Thusly, they resolved to case the outside as a two-pronged team: Corvinus from above as a harmless, wild Murkrow and Drew - in his rather generic looking tourist get-up - from below as a random passerby. Then, if they were lucky, they'd move onto the interior of the casino. Coached on what to look for, Drew hoped that between the two of them one would find some way of entry, preferably as inconspicuous as possible.

The rumours were everywhere. So everywhere that even someone like Sweeney had managed to have an ear to the grapevine. There was to be a major heist - Jirachi's Casino had gone rogue, and trainers weren't happy. They intended to take what they felt they were deserved, and maybe even then some. While Sweeney wasn't exactly aligned with criminal behaviour - the bartender had been on the receiving end of his fair share, his injuries would vouch for it - he was certainly someone who preferred to do what he pleased. Since setting out on his journey, that had been as close to a motto as he possessed, and his own Pokemon were egging him on to join in the raid. Marco and Cain especially seemed to be incredibly pumped up for the heist - which immediately ruled them out in Sweeney's mind as potential partners. Well, that was harsh. They were already ruled out. It was better to have more concrete justification for those two though, their antics could very easily get out of hand if they felt spurned in any way. Always best to have a good sounding reason. The one thing holding Sweeney back from throwing himself directly into the undertaking - and what would justify his caution - was the simple, curious fact. Surely, if even he had gotten wind of this planned undertaking, the owners - whoever they may now be - of Jirachi's Casino had to. There would undoubtedly be countermeasures of every description. Sweeney's wounds flared up with pain at this thought. He had enough injuries to last him numerous lifetimes, never mind this single one he owned. Best to avoid any more. For that, he would need caution, planning, and preferably associates stupid enough to do what he wouldn't. The former two he could arrange on his own - he had a particular partner in mind for that - but the latter would need simple luck and fortune.

Standing some distance from the Casino, Sweeney couldn't help but feel a distinct sense of discontent on viewing the grandiose establishment. He had seen poverty in his life, and this immense construction seemed to be a statement of rejection against that lifestyle; a glowing, fundamental backlash against those with little to spare. It didn't make him feel sick - that would be too strong a reaction, he felt - but it certainly evoked a certain sense of distaste within him. Still, he - and many others, he could see - were here to put a bit of a fix to that point. Standing beside him, Lancelot dozily lulls, the Slowking choosing to rest the body so that the mind could work. Already the pink biped was considering a plan of approach, relaying the thoughts through to Sweeney, but the one thing that they needed more than anything right now was information. That was only going to be gained in one way - simple, old fashioned work. Approaching the Casino itself, Sweeney soon noticed the guards who were giving everyone entering a once over - a rather dangerous looking pair by any sort of metric. Knowing full well that he didn't exactly present the most conspicuous figure in his choice of dress, Sweeney nodded in the opposite direction to Lancelot, the Slowking happily plodding along. For now, Sweeney would remain outside, deciding to take a slow walk along the length of the Casino's perimeter, at least wanting a simple mental image of the surroundings before looking into anything on a more detailed scale.

"Choux, what is in your mouth? Choux! Choux no don't eat the wrapper!" Athena chased after her Snubbull, who was happily scarfing down some Rare Candy he had found in her bag. The trainer scooped her Pokemon up and pulled out two pieces of blue plastic from his mouth, sticking her tongue out in disgust at the slobber covered wrappers.

Choux grew to level 2! Choux grew to level 3!

"Bad Snubbull." The girl scolded, holding her Pokemon up to her face and frowning. Choux snuffled nonchalantly. "Be a good boy today, ok? You gotta help me out. Use that good nose of yours!" She tapped Choux's wet black nose and smiled.

"Snubbull." Choux huffed.

With the Fairy Pokemon in her arms, Athena entered through the large double doors of the casino. She smiled at the guards on her way in, but gripped her Snubbull a bit tighter as her heart rate increased. All she had to do was act like an average guest, take a good look around, and hopefully find something helpful to bring back to the group that had gathered the night before. She approached the fountain in the lobby, gasping quietly as she admired the architecture. Sure, she was here on a very important mission, but she couldn't resist. She pulled her phone out, turned, and snapped a selfie with Choux in her arms. She took a look back at the picture and noticed Choux wasn't even looking at the camera. She sighed, but was wary of the guards and decided not to take another picture. Athena spotted a few familiar faces in the lobby, a boy with an Aipom on his shoulder, a girl with a Pikachu, and another boy with a Mimikyu trailing behind him. She didn't let her gaze linger too long, but was glad the others had gotten there safe. Everything was going smoothly. She gave her Snubbull a soft pat on the head, and began to ascend the stairs.

A pair of Pokemon discussed some odd news while their trainer sat nearby. With nothing better to do, he listened in.

“Stolen coins?” Nyx asked.

“Yes,” The Houndoom replied, sounding very entertained. “Disappearing, even from supposedly secure areas. Along with various casino prizes. They’ve supposedly tracked it to a specific casino, though no one seems to be clear on
how they’re pulling it off. The attempts at raiding the place by police have so far been disastrous failures as well.”

“It is strange, but it has little to do with us.” His conversation partner shot back. The Purrloin didn’t seem impressed by the news.

“Oh? But Eskil might have lost coins. Of course, he likely doesn’t remember if he had any.” Belial glanced at the amnesiatic trainer.

“I definitely don’t remember.” Eskil answered the unspoken question with a shrug.

“If you knew your real name, we could have checked. By this point any coins you
did have are likely gone, of course. Snatched by the masterminds behind this plot.” Belial grumbled.

“Then what point are you trying to make, Bel?” Nyx hissed, “You said yourself that the coins are gone, even if we could access them.”

“Well, the casino in question isn’t far from here. So we could check it out, and take back your stolen coins. In fact, there’s rumblings of several trainers planning on doing the same” Belial began, slyly.

“Hypothetical coins.” Nyx corrected. “And your make it sound so simple. I’m sure security is a bit tighter than that, especially if it has bested the police force. Not to mention that relying on the rumor of other trainers is absurd. Even of they are true, that doesn’t mean they’ll be any help.”

“Fine.
Hypothetical coins. But regardless of actual account balances, there’s nothing wrong with stealing back stolen goods, right?” A wolfish grin. “We might not stand a chance at a successful frontal assault, but we also don’t need to follow the police’s example. Subtlety is the name of the game. Come on, it’ll be a nice change of pace, and I’m sure you can pick up some useful things! It’s not like we have any leads for your journey right now, anyway.”

“I care less about the morality of the situation.” Nyx grumbled. “The problem lies in the consequences of being caught.”

“There’s no harm in checking it out, right? If the security is too tight, we call it off, and you get the chance to explore the casino.” The hellhound wheedled.

Two sets of eyes turned to stare at Eskil.

“I guess checking the place out wouldn’t hurt?” He replied, hesitantly.

Nyx sighed as Belial cackled in glee.

---

Despite his enthusiasm, Belial sure was eager to give us all of the actual work. Eskil thinks to himself as he stands in front of the large steel doors of the casino.

The Houndoom had been quick to point out that Nyx would have an easier time gathering information than he would, and had sent them on their way. Nyx was currently fuming on his shoulder at the situation. At least the hellhound had managed to scrounge up a few coins, so Eskil could actually play the part of patron if needed. Eskil didn’t ask where he’d gotten them. The less he knew about Belial’s ‘activities’ and ‘connections’, the better.

“It might be a good idea to look around outside for alternative ways in at some point. If we actually decide to go through with it. Let’s check out the inside first.” Eskil tells her. And makes a mental note to buy her something nice for the trouble.

His knowledge of heists is limited to a few dramatized examples from channel surfing on the TV. Still, he figures they need an entrance (and an escape route), some idea of where the valuables are located, and as much knowledge about the security as possible to stand a chance of pulling it off. The entire thing seems incredibly dangerous, but Eskil would be lying if some part of him doesn’t find it exhilarating.

“Nyx, keep an eye out for cameras, vents that you’d be able to fit through, and anything else interesting. I’ll see if we can get some information on the layout of the place, follow my lead, okay?” He instructs her before the pair heads inside.

The interior looks nice enough as they step through the solid doors. There are a lot of guards, though. And visible cameras. I wonder how many more there are that I can’t see?

The doors and guards are enough to cross a frontal assault of his list of possibilities. Looking at them, he easily believes that the police didn’t fare well.

It is Eskil’s first time here, in his memory at least, so he glances around with a bit of awe. The fountain was particularly impressive. Still, the guards would get suspicious if he just stood in the entrance gawking, so he forced himself to move further into the lobby.

Playing the part of lost and slightly overwhelmed first timer (easy enough given that it was true), Eskil continues to look around, and heads to the help desk. Once he gets the attention of the person there, he leans on the counter sheepishly.

“Hi, it’s my first time here and I’m not really sure where anything is. Do you have a map, or a directory, or something?”

Nyx grumbles something to the effect of “You’ve gotten lost in the Pokemon Center before. Hopeless.” loud enough for the attendant to hear.

He gives the Purrloin a disapproving glance, then turns back to the attendant and adds ruefully “Even just a rundown of where things are would be helpful. My bad sense of direction has gotten me lost in smaller places before, and I’d like to avoid wandering aimlessly if possible.”

“So would I.” Nyx adds. Eskil hides a grimace. He gets the sense that that comment was less ‘playing along’ and more ‘properly annoyed’. Definitely getting her something nice when this is over. So she doesn’t smother me in my sleep or something.

Since everyone in the daylight hours is posing as a trainer in search of a good time and quick riches, however, the doors will open for you... for now.

Once inside, entrants are greeted by a pair of guards on either side of the entryway - an Aegislash on the left, and a Metagross on the right. They wear little guard hats atop their heads with a Jirachi on them to indicate their positions. The Metagross in particular regards everyone with suspicion, but merely keeps an eye on the crowd.

Behind Aegislash are some more practical features of the lobby, such as a check-in counter/help desk, restrooms and a small souvenir shop. There is also an ELEVATOR near the restrooms. Behind Metagross are some plush couches for patrons to sit and relax, as well as the STAIRWAYS leading UPSTAIRS and DOWNSTAIRS. Two more guard Pokemon – an Arcanine sitting calmly by the help desk, and a Machamp in a Jirachi's Casino leather jacket (with four arm holes, of course) wandering about – make four in total.

Where will you explore first?
Well, this was embarrassing.

Michael didn’t know where he was. The last thing he could remember was getting wildly drunk with his squad the night before for his birthday, and then waking up just now. The entire night was a blur to him, memories drowned out by the copious river of alcohol that he’d flooded his body with. His head pounded and ached as if he'd been slammed on the head with a hammer. And what was that awful taste in his mouth? It reminded him of those Ice lollies he’d been… “gifted” in the past…
If this was how it really felt to be 22 then he’d been sorely misinformed.

He stood up to assess the situation he was in – and almost fell back to the ground when he saw where he was. He seemed to be on the roof of a building. Whatever building it was he had no idea, but somehow, he’d made his way up there last night and passed out. He looked around to see what he’d been left with. There wasn’t much, just a mattress and… a life-size cutout of Khloé Kardashian? Now he was really confused. He kept looking around the rooftop, trying to find a way to get to the ground that didn’t involve taking a wild leap of faith – not that he wouldn’t try it. I mean, he had a mattress, and he’d played Assassin’s Creed at least 20 times. He had a feeling he could probably make it. But that would be a last resort. That was it though. Michael panicked. He didn’t have his backpack with him, nor did he have his belt where he held his pokeballs. He was stuck up here, alone and with no way to contact anyone other than shouting from the rooftops – which wouldn’t look good at all considering.
A low yawn caught Michael by surprise. Was someone else up here with him? He made his way to the source of the growling to find his Slowpoke lying nearby, staring out into nothing.
"Slooooooooooooooooooow." The Slowpoke yawned. Michael chuckled. What else did he expect? Perry's a Slowpoke, he doesn't do much.
“Well Perry, looks like it’s just you and me. I think we better try to get gone before someone catches us.” He said, crouching down to pick his Pokémon up and cradling him in his arms like one would hold a baby. He took his first few steps carefully, lest he fall through the roof, seeking out a way down from wherever the hell he was.

Mime Jr. The First Wish

Gift Shop (Jerichi) – Though not the final destination of the social chameleon and his stealthy Kecleon, Jeri and Koi do learn a few interesting tidbits about this locale from their brief time passing through on the way to the bathrooms, reviewing the merchandise:

The Gift Shop sells a wide variety of apparel, accessories and knickknacks, all branded with the image of a smiling Jirachi surrounded by a sea of stars, in some form or another – however, something about the image isn't quite right. Its face seems fine, though... coloration is fine... general shape... no, it's something about the eye on its stomach. Though shut, it appears... more round than it should be? Perhaps the artist they hired to design the logo used poor source material.

Either way, for a store full of merchandise, the place is rather poorly guarded. There are no apparent security cameras, save for the ones outside the store which can only catch people entering and leaving - and, save for the rather dead-eyed teenager listlessly standing at the front desk, staring at the cash register in an apparent daze, there are no guards in sight, save for the wandering Machamp who does not seem to be giving the shop much attention. Odd, perhaps, until one considers that the bulk of the Casino's profit is likely not to come from apparel sales and keychains. Even the teen they hired for the shop looks... very, very out of it. Drugged, maybe? Not enough sleep?

Of particular note is the Employees Only door in the back of the store, with three pink shapes on the door: a star, a circle and an oval. A cursory glance would suggest that the door is probably locked.

The crafty Kecleon can't help but seize the opportunity to seize a little treat for himself before slinking away to check out the restrooms with his trainer...

Bathrooms (Lilblue, Jeri) – Though Jess may not fully understand the motivations of the gluttonous gumshoe, there was no denying that something big was going on – some secret scandal on the brink of being exposed - and Detective Gumpy was most assuredly on the case! The esteemed Pokemon investigator decides to begin his search in the lobby bathrooms, which are unisex and designed to accommodate Pokemon of all shapes and sizes. There are ten mirrors of varying heights and sizes, with sinks to match, opposite ten stalls with various Pokemon accommodations – only two humanshape/human stalls, though. None are occupied at the moment. There are no security cameras or guards in sight, though on first glance, there appears to be nothing of interest in this space. After Detective Gumpy is able to utilize the facilities to clear his head – and whatever else needed to be cleared – his razor-sharp detective's eye scans the area until his gaze is caught by the bathroom trash receptacle, which is rather empty save for a torn up piece of paper. It would take time to empty the garbage and assemble the note, but there seems to be no surveillance in the bathroom for now.

Jeri and Koi arrive some moments after Gumpy makes his discovery– Koi gives a furtive glance around before inspecting his find. With a flourish, he tries on the star-embroidered Silk Scarf in the mirror: stylish though he may look, it might be best to hide those stolen goods before someone figures out what Koi's been up to...

Check-in/Help Desk (Schala) – The desk is a relatively new feature at the Casino, though what was once a friendly repository of maps, directories, coupons and various forms of assistance has become a cold, stark desk plastered with what can only be described as Jirachi-themed propaganda – countless painted images of smiling people whose wishes have come true thanks to the legend. Most striking among these is an image of Jirachi smiting the other legendaries with an explosive blast, with the statement above: “Believe in your wishes, not in false gods!”

In contrast to the Souvenir Shop and Bathroom on either side of it, the Check-In/Help Desk has at least one camera focused on it at all times. It is also notable that the guard Arcanine stationed here never leaves her post, and the wandering Machamp seems to stop here on his route rather frequently. The desk is far more massive than it should be – thicker and taller than most desks of its kind. The woman at the counter has a rather doll-like, expressionless face – her speech is curt – her tone dismissive. For a help desk, she seems a rather poor choice of helper.

As Ami leaves the counter with a somewhat irritated expression, Eskil and Nyx approach. The woman seems to intentionally avoid eye contact as she responds with a rather listless, over-rehearsed “If you're lost, just follow your heart -” Rather than provide Eskil with a map like a typical help desk associate would, however, she hands him two purple coins with Jirachi's face emblazoned on them. “One for a wish, and one for a spin,” she offers by way of explanation. “Now, off you go,” she spits, making an eerily robotic motion to shoo him away.

While this exchange goes on, Nyx catches sight of something behind the counter. It would be a long shot, given the security, but a natural thief like Purrloin might have a shot at swiping it. Is it worth the risk?

Fountain (Median Dia, Sandaa) – After sorting out her balance at the Check-In/Help Desk, Ami makes her way to the fountain. Beside the fountain is a small sign encouraging patrons to make wishes and offer coins to Jirachi - “Unlike other fountains, the wishes you make to Jirachi are guaranteed to come true... with enough coins, that is!” What an odd thing for a sign to say... and how odd to be so certain of Jirachi's wish-granting powers through this gaudy fountain! Even the signage at Jirachi's own Shrine was nowhere near as presumptuous of its ability to communicate to the little legend.

The little wish that escapes Ami's lips reverberates oddly throughout the casino – odd, considering that the acoustics in the space typically would not produce such an effect. As the coin flips into the water, Ami notices that the little gold coin is the odd-one out in a sea of larger, dark purple coins submerged in the fountain. For a brief moment, Ami can't shake the incredibly unsettling feeling that the statue is watching her – not from its eyes, but from the water-spewing “eye” on its stomach, which Ami notices is more round than it should be. In that brief moment, the water gushing forth from the eye stops – time itself, too, feels as if it stops, frozen in a single second, a round, red eye staring unblinking into Ami's very soul – only for the water to start again and the feeling to pass, though Ami's uneasiness remains.

A crackling, animatronic voice bursts forth from one of the smaller statues surrounding Jirachi – the Magikarp's robotic catchphrase seems to be, “If wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets! Hyuk hyuk!” Its metallic fins move slowly, gratingly, back and forth. Perhaps other members of this statue crew had similar gimmicks, activated with enough coins...

Nadie looks visibly shaken – her psychic senses seem to have picked up something about this statue being very, very wrong. However, she has not deviated from her trainer's orders, and maintains her focus and composure – indeed, she has noticed something unusual about the fountain, and directs Ami's attention to her finding. The Jirachi statue's left eye is slightly different from the right – the left eye is made of a different material, and sticks out somewhat, like it could be pressed.

There could be more to this fountain... or it might be time to move on.

Meanwhile, a brief investigation of the window above the fountain by the intrepid Scurvy allows him to discover, much to his delight, that the star window can be opened... but only from inside. With substantial effort and dexterity, Scurvy opens the star window a crack, just enough so that someone else could pry it open from the outside. With his mission accomplished, Scurvy and Gary can continue straight ahead. Scurvy gains 1 level for his show of finesse.

The Path to Wishes (Raves, Heather, Meetan, Sandaa, Kawaii) – Five among you choose to move straight ahead from the lobby, where the Path to Wishes awaits – or so it is called by the massive yellow neon sign overhead. At first, this “path” appears like a dead end – a short, dark blue corridor with no windows or doors, the ceiling and upper walls painted to look like the star-studded night sky. Tiny openings in the corridor open up every so often, with an animatronic Jirachi head peeping through at guests walking by... To delight or frighten children, depending on their views regarding uncanny valley facsimilies of Pokemon – and is this ever one of them! Eerily lifelike eyes in an incredibly fake, plastic body – in some cases, the creators were too lazy to bother even with that, and just have the head on a somewhat obvious metal stick. This peeping Pokemon appears to be triggered by motion, and seems downright suspicious, though it's hard to place exactly why. In times past, when Jirachi's Casino was only a single-floor building, this room would have been where the old Starter Slots and Roulette would be located. The tiny slot machines and old roulette wheel sit awkwardly at the “end” of the path, but the faded lights blinking on the faces of the slots are just enough to illuminate two signs. One, which reads “FAME”, points to the right. The other, which reads “FORTUNE”, points to the left. “FAME” has a little hamburger/soda icon on a sub-sign beneath it, indicating some sort of food available, and both paths also have a sub-sign for “RESTROOMS”... for those of us with simpler, more immediate desires.

The corridor has no security cameras, and is mostly featureless, save for a suspicious patch in the wall that looks like a door might have been painted over. The only guard, a Pupitar at the end of the hall, wiggles with intimidation at the sight of visitors, his hat two sizes too small. Feeling he has done his guarding job for the day, he goes back to staring longingly at the big roulette wheel, which he no longer has arms to spin... perhaps one day.

Kawaii attempts to pull the lever of one of the slot machines, but without coins, the machine is inoperable and the lever won't budge. It does seem like the coin slot was enlarged somewhat, as if to fit a larger denomination of coin than the typical Casino Coin.

We all must follow our own paths to achieve our heart's desire. Which paths will you take?

Elevator (Patches, TKF, Brave Saix, PikaGod) – A pair of elevators bear the responsibility of ferrying trainers and Pokemon from one floor to the next. Though fairly spacious, the space is rather unremarkable – the walls and ceiling are mirrored if you need to check yourself (before you wreck yourself).

Available floors are BF, P1F, 1F, P2F, 2F, P3F, 3F and ROOF. There are also buttons for Open Door, Close Door and an EMERGENCY STOP button.

Jayson, who attempts to order Odysseus to disrupt the surveillance camera, is... well, caught on the surveillance camera the moment the disruptions become apparent. He's cut off by the sudden appearance of a rather stern-looking Alakazam in a Jirachi's Casino hat, who teleports in out of seemingly nowhere. Soon, Jayson experiences the feeling of his own body being made ethereal – being removed from this very plane of existence – only to reappear back in the lobby with his Magnemite. The guards have their eye on Jayson and Odysseus. Even so, the risk is not completely without reward – Lift 1 surveillance camera is Out of Order. Also, the preliminary trace reveals to Magnemite that the surveillance system is being controlled on a floor beneath the lobby. Odysseus, though visibly shaken, is stronger for the experience. Odysseus gains 1 level.

Sypher doesn't fare much better in the other lift – though his attempt at using the “EMERGENCY STOP” button does, indeed, stop the elevator between floors, it also encourages a ghostly Gengar Guard (a GenGuard?) to float through the walls and investigate the lift, grinning wide as he smashes the “2F” button hard in response to the supposed “emergency”. Though Jill is able to fly through a rather promising looking vent between 2F and P3F, her trainer plummets in the elevator with the cackling guard – though only a short distance, the jostling motion is thoroughly disorienting – though not nearly as bad as being unceremoniously thrown out of the elevator back into the lobby by an insane Gengar. The guards have their eye on Sypher. She will likely fly back some time later to give a full report to Sypher – if she can find him.

Melody, who is third to the elevator, tries to close the door as soon as she enters the space – only to find that the button is jammed. A throng of tourists enter the elevator – but given the presence of the guards, being surrounded by the din of other people works as a sort of camouflage. The throng is followed by the eager Patches, who presses every single button in the elevator... including the Emergency Stop. Both the Alakazam and the Gengar end up in the lift with Patches and Melody, rolling their eyes. Seems like the elevator attracts all the troublemakers... They seem to debate unceremoniously throwing Patches out, but decide to simply keep their eyes on her. She may serve as a temporary distraction... Though the lift she has boarded (Lift 2) still has an operating surveillance camera.

Jason and Sypher may attempt to board the elevator again, or may try their luck elsewhere.

Jayson shivered, the lingering psychic energy from the Alakazam was disturbing. The guards were certainly powerful and well trained, nothing seemed to escape their sight. He was slightly peeved that they were caught so quickly, it seemed that this mission would be much harder than he initially expected. Odysseus had proven himself a capable hacker however and was able to disable the lifts camera and also find the general location of the surveillance room, which seemed to be down below. Jayson looked around and saw that another trainer had been kicked out of the elevator. He was certain that he saw the trainer enter the lifts with a Noibat, which was now nowhere to be seen. The only issue was that now the guards were watching them, it would be harder for them to go about their business now. Jayson looked around and spotted the Stairs, he could likely go down there and search for the surveillance room.

Jayson recalled Odysseus for now, he might be under less suspicion if he didn't have his Pokemon out with him. He made his way towards the stairs, once down there he could scope the place out and try to locate the surveillance room, but they couldn't afford to run into anymore guards. Hopefully someone or something could create a distraction for them. Even though going so hard for the surveillance system was risky, it was there best bet for finding the best places to hit during the heist. Hopefully the more Odysseus got used to the system the better he would get at controlling it.

Jeri was growing increasingly suspicious of this entire situation. Why was the only person staffing this shop seemingly somnambulent? And its contents all seemed a little off - the Jirachi so prominently featured seemed to be somewhat inaccurate in its depictions. And on top of that, the door marked "Employees Only" bore strange markings that reminded him of those on those cards that were supposed to show if someone had psychic powers...

Suspicions aroused, he entered the bathroom to find a Gulpin mulling over a trash bin. Not thinking much of it (Gulpin, being quite voracious, were wont to dig through refuse), he went to look around, but was quickly distracted by Koi, who was admiring himself in the mirror with a Silk Scarf clearly lifted from the store about his neck.

"Give me that," Jeri snapped quietly, snatching the contraband away and stuffing it into his pocket to hide it. He didn't intend to steal it, but it was best to not give Koi away if he could avoid it. But, if it was off the shelf now...

The chameleon looked a little dejected as he Camouflaged himself again.

"C'mon, let's keep looking around," Jeri suggested, leaving the bathroom. He figured he would keep searching this general area and head towards the couches. Meanwhile, Koi, slinking out along with his trainer, clinging to a nearby wall and keeping out of sight as best he could, made an attempt to sneak around the security desk to see what he could find.

Heather sighed in disappointment at the animatronics that poked out of the walls. They might be enough to amuse children, not that children should frequent a place like this. Heather was, however, supposed to be an adult. These lazily designed creepy figurines would not sway her so easily, except to be slightly unnerved. However, their eyes latched onto something of greater note almost immediately: the Suspicious Patch in the wall of the corridor. Heather reached out with her thoughts to her partner to inform him of this development.

Magus, I think I've found something interesting. Come check this out. she thought, waiting for a reply. With Magus in the spiritual plane to investigate, she was unable to see where he was exactly.

I'll be right there...these animatronics warrant a closer look, I think. the Ghost type replied.

Just make sure you let me know if there's anything behind this bit of wall I'm looking at, preferably before any Psychic Types show up. Heather directed. In the meantime, she leaned up against the wall across from the suspicious patch, and started playing Magikarp Jump to pass the time. Those Expert Leagues aren't going to clear themselves, after all.

Funny thing about undercover missions is that anything remotely suspicious you say seems to be far louder to yourself when you say it, even if it was just a whisper. And by 'funny', everyone means absolutely nerve wracking when they say that- nobody laughs when it happens unless it was some sort of lame ironic joke!

That wasn't the only peculiarity about the place she found right off the bat- far from it, in fact. For some odd reason, all the other coins in the fountain were... purple? Well, that certainly explained the account wipes- not even her Coin Case would be able to run its original use! At least she could use it as a bludgeoning weapon if things took a sharp turn for the worst...?

...Like right about now, apparently. The water spewing forth from the statue's bizarre tummy anatomy suddenly decided to stop flowing entirely for a brief moment, exposing the eerie red light within. It most certainly didn't feel like just a light, however. If the girl she fought in the Bedlam Quarry was disturbing because she seemed to look through her, this eldritch glare was freaky because it seemed to look into her- and not like an x-ray machine, at that. Ami felt like her very being was under scrutiny, along with all her misdoings both past and present...

An eternity seemed to pass before anything was allowed to move again. Ami jumped in surprise as the fountain began to flow with water again and something mechanical somewhere spat out the lame line "If wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets! Hyuk hyuk!" alongside some horrible metallic grating sounds. Given what just happened, it seemed likely that this horrible fountain was hiding a secret camera in its third eye, which was all the more reason to bring Bell with her later.

Nadie was having a slightly better time of things, however, and brought her attention to the figure's left-most eye. While it looked the same as its twin at first glance, a closer look would've been enough to reveal that it was actually a switch of some sort. Of course, a creature that relied on echolocation wouldn't have been fooled in the first place, and she made sure to acknowledge his helpfulness in a way that wouldn't be picked up by any sort of voice recorder- she really didn't need more dirt against her.

A brief creaking noise from above was the next thing to catch her attention- an aipom had climbed up to a window in the ceiling and opened it, making reentry that much easier. Not a bad move to make in the slightest, not bad at all...

Of course, she no longer had any business with the fountain and needed to head elsewhere to avoid further suspicion. There were an awful lot of people taking the elevators, so that was naturally a no-go. But she didn't want to stick to just this main floor, either. 'Well, if the place has hidden cameras and switches, then it's only natural that there'd be something suspect going on below,' she thought to herself as she walked the metagross, opting to take the stairwell Downstairs with Nadie scanning the area for secrets the whole way. Hopefully this will be less stress-inducing than the fountain was...

He paid little attention to the other four around him heading down the so-called 'Path of Wishes' though one or two faces he did recognise. Alex looked at the animatronic Jirachi with wonder and intrigue, completely feigned of course, while the Honchkrow stared at them with eyes like daggers, clearly realising these were more than just normal machines. Ever since the hype and excitement of that Six Evenings At Sid Viper's series of games, Fragarath knew there was plenty to hide behind those false smiles of a specific pokemon, be it hidden cameras or sensors. The very action of motion only held his convictions that the place was suspicious.

As the pair reached the end, they found a nostalgic sight: the old starter slots and roulette wheel, as well as two signs reading fame and fortune. This almost let Alex down: while the disappearance of most of his coins was likely worth bulldozing the place for, he was always prepared for such situations, and had on his person a small hidden pouch of roughly 500 casino coins from the old days, in varyng denominations. He saw also a single security guard: a Pupitar trying to be intimidating with little hops, with a tiny little hat on the head, and with a longing look at the roulette wheel.

While one 'visitor' toyed with the slot machine, another was more invested in those freaky facsimiles of Halley, yet the human and avian felt that perhaps to allow ease of investigation, a distraction would be required. Turning his head to Alex, the Honchkrow gave a silent croon, detailing what his thoughts were and plan of immediate action, in a fashion that would appear to onlookers that the pair were discussing what to play with first.

After a brief moment, Alex ventured towards the roulette wheel, giving a playful beckon to the Pupitar as he held a hand on it, as though calling him over for just a moment to have a spin on the machine with him. He would use some of the old coins he had, maybe 100 or so, to activate the machine hopefully, and would feign difficulty in operation in the hopes the guard would hop along and give him a little advice. While distracted, this would give whoever else was looking into things a moment unsupervised to make investigations. Meanwhile, the Honchkrow would flutter off Alex's shoulder and take to the roof height, making his way to the fortune path to scout out the scene, while keeping an eye on anything that would be of interest in terms of finding a backdoor entrance, or anything of some value. That hat on his head was for more than physical show.

Jess waited patiently for Gumpy to finish utilizing the facilities, taking the opportunity to wash up in the meanwhile. (Wincing as she listened to the sounds coming from from behind the stall as she tried not to imagine what must be going on in there.)

When the Swalot emerged at last, he shuffled over to the sink to swab himself as well and readjust his moustache in the mirror. However, rather than rejoin his trainer right away, his razor-sharp eyes spotted the trash receptacle, and immediately began rummaging through the bin (much to Jess's chagrin).

At that moment, a boy and his Kecleon came in, the latter stylishly sporting a star-spangled scarf as he tried it on in the glass, greatly admiring his reflection. Jess shrank in sheepishness, both at being in the presence of a human boy in the bathroom (even though the "privacy" was meant to be shared between people and Pokémon alike of all genders), and at her Swalot's shameful behavior.

The other pair seemed to pay them no mind however. In fact, the boy seemed just as embarrassed by the egregious display his partner was making, and hurriedly snatched the (stolen) stole away with an angry snap. Jess couldn't hear the hushed words exchanged, but the chameleon was clearly crestfallen, color draining from his body as he camouflaged himself almost completely, blending seamlessly into the background tiles (save for the stripe on his belly). Jess marveled silently at the transformation, watching the two (or rather one and a zigzag now) take their leave without actually using any of the available amenities. Jessica scratched her head as she did manage to catch the boy whisper "let's keep looking around" as he swiftly slipped away, slyly hiding a furtive expression for some reason. Again, that show of shiftiness sent baffled chills down her spine. What on earth were they looking for...?

On that note, Gumpy seemed to have made a discovery of his own, unearthing a mysterious shredded document at the bottom of the barrel. Jess sighed as she witnessed the large purple blob practically dunk his whole head into the wastebasket in an effort to retrieve the paper scraps and piece the puzzle together. Deciding she'd had enough of whatever weird game everyone besides her seemed to be playing, she determined to leave the detective to his own devices and check out the rest of the Casino.

To be honest, she was rather curious exactly where the Kecleon obtained such a lovely cravat. Even though she personally wasn't a fan of neckwear, she did have a penchant for starry patterns, so the muffler's markings definitely piqued her interest. Considering celestial symbols were reminiscent of the club's star mascot, perhaps it came from the gift shop? Seeing as she wasn't here to gamble for any big prizes, perhaps the store might be worth checking out for a small souvenir or two as consolation.

"I'm gonna head over to the gift shop," she announced to the plum-colored bum sticking out of the box, both bemused and amused by the image. "You can come find me when you're done. Try not to make too much of a mess, and remember to clean up after yourself."

Roof (Whimsy) Michael was thoroughly confused. If strangeness of your surroundings on having finally woken up were any indicator of how well the night previous had gone ... well, it had certainly been a doozy then. Alone with just his Slowpoke and a mattress - God knows where that came from - on some odd roof, the young trainer surveyed his surroundings, looking for some means of getting out of this rather awkward predicament. As he slowly but surely made his way across the roof, he noticed two things of immediate interest to him. On the other end of the roof - some distance away - was a small hut like building, no doubt some sort of access point to the roof from within the building he found himself atop. There was a large green sign attached to the side which clearly indicated it as some sort of fire escape, so chances were it wasn't locked. Unfortunately, the more pressing issue at hand was perched on top of the hut itself. A rather large Fearow, even by standards typical of the species, was perched above the hut, furtively scanning the area with it's beady eyes. Oddly, something seemed to be strapped to the crest of the bird, but Michael couldn't quite make out exactly what was attached to the black leather strap from this distance. Though its back was mercifully to Michael for now, should be make any sort of hurried movement there was no telling whether it would detect him or not. Given the species' tendency for violence and their proclivity to defend their territory, it was evident that Michael would need to be careful for more reasons than a worry of falling through the roof.

Upstairs (Missingo Master, CyberBlastoise, Gemini Spark, EpicSquirtle, morningstar): Keith and Ginny, intending to disperse from the gathering trainers who were now flooding into the Casino - no doubt with intentions entirely similar to their own - headed towards the nearby staircase which led upstairs. As they ascended the flight, they noticed that the surroundings were a little more lavish than the lobby area; no expense had been spared when it came to decorating this area, with intricate gold decorations hanging along the length of the walls and glinting gently in the somewhat softer lighting of the surroundings. Finally, the pair come to the head of the stairs, pushing against two large, wooden doors. They move open with ease, a little creak resonating around the room, and Keith steps inside. He finds himself in an incredibly spacious room - likely situated just above the main room of the Casino itself, and certainly as large as the main floor. Numerous tables sporting different games were spread around the area, but much more interesting were the people - rather, the distinct lack of. The area was barely occupied, and every participant seemed to be dressed up in their absolute best, each sporting fancy apparel and dripping with an air of higher society. Keith is brought to his senses by a deep grunt, turning to his right to see a Machoke with his arms crossed, eyes narrowed and staring at Keith. After a while, the tensed Pokemon simply nods, turning back towards watching the others in the room, and at this point Keith notices others climbing the stairs now behind him, a rather weird group in their own right.

Bill and his Squirtle, Error the Magneton, Hyrem and his Froslass, Athena and her Snubbull all stood in the doorway, frozen in place by the beady eyes of the Machoke. It was clear that the Fighting type was becoming suspicious of such a large gathering of people, so it would likely be best for the group to split up as soon as possible. As those within the group look around to take in more of the surroundings, they realise three corridors leading deeper into the floor - with the door behind them situated at the south side of the room, the corridors each led off in the other three cardinal directions, north, east and west.

It was quite the brilliant plan on Ginny's part, to stay separate from the others, so as to not draw suspicion. A brilliant plan, with but one minor flaw- aforementioned brilliant plan was bound to occur to the others as well, and there were only so many different ways they could all go. Ginny felt like facepalming (faceblading? That sounds painful) as she realized that some of the others had followed them.

Keith had been looking around at the exceptionally lavish upstairs area, in which he looked quite out of place, considering he was in his usual Trainer attire. He had met the eyes of that suspicious Machoke, and seemed to successfully convince it that there was no reason to be suspicious of them. Only now, Keith noticed the group coming up the stairs behind him. He recognized Bill, who had spent a good chunk of years raising the Totodile that grew up to be Keith's Feraligatr, Gold. He recognized Hyrem, of course, though decidedly less familiar to him was the Froslass accompanying him. Athena he didn't recognize, though her Snubbull seemed startlingly familiar to him- wasn't that Jaws, the Snubbull Keith himself once owned? And to add to the familiar faces, if Keith had to guess, he would say that that Magneton belonged to his friend Jake.

Any other time, Keith would have been rather glad to see such a gathering of familiar and unfamiliar faces, happy to reunite with old friends while making new friends. Any other time, that would've been the case. Not so much while trying to avoid rousing suspicion in the Casino staff. And indeed, the Machoke from before? The arrival of these newcomers was not lost on it. Keith kept his cool, however, exchanging brief glances with his Pawniard as he looked around casually, barely acknowledging those in the doorway. The less reason the Machoke had to be suspicious, the better. He could see there were three other corridors besides the one through which Keith had entered. He looked around at them as though his intention the entire time had been to go through one of them, for that was exactly what he was trying to convince Machoke the case was. After a moment, he casually strolled off towards the west corridor, with Ginny by his side. What the others did was their own business, of course, provided none of them made Machoke even more suspicious than it already was.

Promenade of Desires (Marion Ette, Balmund, Naruxami, Rotom310, 134) - The winding path oscillates with excitement by night now stretches out unremarkable against the near-noonday sun. Flanking the roundabout trail are carefully-manicured shrubs and trees groomed in close semblance of the casino's namesake, the Wish Pokémon Jirachi. To the left side stands a weathered multi-tiered parking garage, easily capable of storing several dozens of vehicles, from the size of the humble motor scooter to the mighty eighteen-wheeler. At the right is a lovely garden dotted with finery of the most exotic floral sort, replete with plain white gazebos—the seat of luxury for those seeking shelter from the hustle-bustle of the gambler's row. Amidst the open-air structures flows a man-made creek surrounded by bamboo, meticulously tended to by the casino's grounds-keeping crew.

The central hub of activity, steps away from the maddening gates to greed, are crowds bursting with the excitement of every manner of tourist, their hearts on their sleeves and their pockets brimming with monies to match hopes and dreams. As always, fair tidings of the budding day proffer an almost nascent sensibility of prosperity and cheer upon those in attendance.

There are however some present whose intentions run on an altogether different lieu. While they remain largely unawares of one another, this ambitious crew is indeed united in a single cause...

On the outskirts of the masses are two who seem keen on appearances above all. Marion stands astride her partner Gwyn the Lampent, awaiting the arrival of an anonymous ally who promises to provide her with assistance in her endeavors. The soul in question would be none other than Duke and his dour Seviper, Chris; the former waves and smiles in greeting before addressing his long-time acquaintance. However, the exchange does not go unnoticed by the security staff at the gate, whose attentions were commanded by the sight of the Fang Snake Pokémon slithering within a rock's throw of their station.

Closer to the fringes of the crowd Elka make a head towards groomed bush and bramble, alert to anything that strikes the senses as strange or curious. Joined by her Torracat Morgana, she maintains a measured pace while making clever use of her crutches to displace pebbles, stones, and debris. Eventually the pair sidles up to the garden, its flora as made up not unlike a prim-and-proper Furfrou, stalks and branches delicately coiffed to perfection to bring the best out of bamboo leaves. The sandy stones precisely placed within glitter prettily against the sunbeams; closer inspection reveals not one but two odd rocks towards the garden's center, one large and the other small, which do not glisten in quite the same manner as the rest, appearing smooth and waxen in sheen where the others are rough-hewn. Examining either stone in proper would require one to tread deeper into the garden, which is off-limits to visitors. Will Elka trespass to chance a closer look?

Nearby Drew rounds the approach while keeping an eye between Corvinus the Murkrow's location and his periphery. A rendezvous seems unlikely so soon, so the trainer quickly brings his sights singly to rest on the playful greenery dotting the inner perimeter of the promenade. The brush there has been sheared in a myriad of whimsical star shapes which surround a larger-than-life statue of the casino's mascot. As the man studies the statue, the sun peeks out from behind clouds, blinding him for a few seconds. He shirks and squints, but nearly blinds himself a second time as he suddenly beholds a curious scene… a line of light drawn round the bases of the star bushes, barely perceptible to the naked eye. Trip wire. What in the world would necessitate the installation of a security device like that?

Meanwhile Johto native Tate, having chosen impulse over further consternation, makes meaningful strides away from the casino's entrance. When the trainer deems the distance between themselves and the crowds sufficient, they notice a fork to the right. A paw from Kai alerts Tate to a sign as a truck whizzes past: Loading Docks. The cobblestone course changes to gravel and winds around the back of the establishment; some ways off, the edge of a platform and the corner of something large and cube-shaped can be seen, though it's unclear exactly what from afar.

Outer Perimeter (Connor) - Minding the guards' gazes, the one known as "The Bartender" proceeds silently past the entrance towards outer wall of the facility. Any other person would be tempted to brush their fingers against the flamboyance there: colossal columns several stories in height, decked out with classical-style motifs of Jirachi and symbols of fortune in fresco are truly a sight to behold. At the very top lies a glimmer of something shining—sinister, perhaps…

Suddenly, a distinct hrumph sounds from behind, recognizable as the sound of one clearing one’s throat. Sweeney turns on heel, a gesture which Lancelot mimes at his own pace, and finds himself nearly nose-to-nose with a grisly-browed old timer. Nonplussed, the gentleman scratches his pate, clenching the hoe in his right hand tighter as he scrutinizes the trainer and his Slowking. Sweeney maintains a neutral stance. At a glance, there appears to be nothing particularly threatening about the fellow from his wizened countenance to his muck-covered boots. Across the left breast of the man’s soiled peat jumpsuit one can make out ZEKE in brilliant red letters.

He coughs in earnest a final time before opening his mouth to speak. "Normally, ah'd do what ah always do with touristy types: send 'em on their way. But somethin' about you just don't fit the bill."

His words and dress suggest he is under the employ of the casino, but his manner does not suggest that he is guarded. Naturally, one could engage him in conversation, though the stakes are higher than this gentleman is tall...

Even the signage at Jirachi's own Shrine was nowhere near as presumptuous of its ability to communicate to the little legend.

The little wish that escapes Ami's lips reverberates oddly throughout the casino – odd, considering that the acoustics in the space typically would not produce such an effect. A crackling, animatronic voice bursts forth from one of the smaller statues surrounding Jirachi – the Magikarp's robotic catchphrase seems to be, “If wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets! Nadie looks visibly shaken – her psychic senses seem to have picked up something about this statue being very, very wrong. The Jirachi statue's left eye is slightly different from the right – the left eye is made of a different material, and sticks out somewhat, like it could be pressed.

There could be more to this fountain... or it might be time to move on.

As Gary and Scurvy made their way by the fountain, he nonchalantly positioned himself at an angle by the wall where he wouldn’t be noticed easily by the security camera. Taking the opportunity, Scurvy used his agility to leap off of Gary’s shoulder and climb up to a conspicuous ceiling window in the shape of a star and nudged it open ever so slightly. While this was going on, Gary watched another trainer approach the fountain from his peripheral. There seemed to be something suspicious about the third eye on the belly of the statue in the middle, something Gary took note of. Additionally, he watched at the trainer seemed to be inspecting something unusual about the left eye on the statue.

The silence was then broken by some creepy animatronic voice from one of the statues, and at this point, Scurvy had resumed his perch on Gary’s shoulder. Gary nodded in approval of his Aipom and headed down the hallway behind a few other trainers towards the Path to Wishes. Here, they were all greeted by another animatronic robot, which Gary found increasingly unsettling, and ended up in an old casino area where some slot machines and a roulette wheel were located.

There was a split in the hallway, and Gary waited to see which way the other trainers would go. One of them seemed especially fixated on a suspicious patch in the wall, while another attempted to distract the Pupitar guard while his Honchkrow flew off to the path of FORTUNE to the left. Gary silently thanked the trainer in his mind for drawing the guard’s attention away from its duty and proceeded to head towards the path of FAME to the right. Below the sign were a pair of sub-signs that indicated there was food and a restroom to be found.

Gary had made up his mind at this point. Heading into the restroom first, he quietly closed the door behind him. Looking around to make sure no one was already in the stalls, he turned his attention to Scurvy. “Alright Scurvy, let’s see if there’s any vents in here for you to sneak into. If you can, do your best to scout the area as stealthily as you can. I’m going to go investigate the food area quickly and then I’ll meet back with you in here.” Scurvy grinned and nodded, responding with an “Ai ai!” If he couldn’t find any vents to sneak into, then he would just quietly follow on Gary’s shoulder.

The Underbelly of Sin
Casino: Downstairs

Lit, Maskerade, myahoo, deoxys, Kyuu-Tales, MedMana, TheKnightsFury:

A place where sin is rampant. The sin of Greed. Money changes hands freely here, although mostly from the hands of the players into the hands of the owners. The Casino, which has acted as a focal point for wealth all over the world, was completely suspicious and yet, until now, no one had discovered its secrets. It was like a living singularity; a place outside the normal, where it seems that things were being rewritten. A place that shuns outsiders who do not respect the notion of Greed. One can simply not be virtuous of heart and survive here. Either you would be driven out or be consumed by greed, by lust, by covetousness. Will you be able to keep your wits here as you traverse its halls, or will the Casino's power envelope you as well?

As your small group moves downstairs, it seems that you've evaded detection, for now. What seems to be a bigger issue is that when you come downstairs, it seems that the lower floor of the Casino is far bigger than any of you realized. You come out to a hallway that seems to stretch out forever, with a number of completely undescript doors on either side. None of them are labeled, leaving you all completely confused as to how anyone is able to find there way around here. A look ahead reveals there is an intersection where another hallway crosses the one you are in, but there is no telling what is in that hallway, nor how big it is. You may have potentially walked into something as large and as complex as a labyrinth. Truly things had to be simpler than they appeared to be, right? How else would the Casino even function? Your minds fill up with questions, but there definitely seem to be a few obvious facts. If there is anyone down here, they don't seem to be moving too much in the part of the Casino you're in, and there aren't any security cameras either. The doors look like they could be opened rather easily as well, even if they are locked. The place is also impeccably clean: if you were looking for any stolen goods, cash, or Pokemon now, you'd be sure to come up empty.

Nobody in your group seems to be in any abnormal state. What will you do?

A large group of them had ended up downstairs, although Jayson was unsure why everyone else had chosen to come down here. Odysseus and himself had a purpose already, their meddling in the elevator had revealed that the surveillance room was located down here somewhere. The issue now was the unexpected size of the doors stairs section of the casino, hopefully Odysseus would be able to pick up on the electrical energy and locate the room without too much effort. They could always use some help though, they had picked up a little heat due to what they had done to the elevator. If they could recruit someone to either distract any guards or even break into the room for them then they should be able to get into the system before getting kicked out.

"Hey you guys", whispered Jayson just loud enough so the other trainers around him could hear. "The surveillance room is down here somewhere and I intend to hack into it so we can get a visual on the entire facility. I could use some help keeping eyes off me and getting inside, hopefully we should be able to locate it fairly easily. The invitation is there if you want it." Jayson then broke away from the group, if any chose to follow him they could work out a plan once they found the room.

Now he just had to find the room, luckily Magnemites were attracted to electrical sources. "Alright Odysseus let your natural urges take over, the surveillance room should be using a large amount of electricity, see if you can locate it. You already accessed the security camera in the elevator, you should be able to locate its source now." While Jayson was eager to find the surveillance room, he wasn't eager to gather more attention. "Odysseus I want you to Teleport us straight back to the bathroom at the first sign of trouble, something feels off here."

Once Hyrem and Tsurara finished climbing the stairs, they were in a decidedly bigger room than the lobby, with all sorts of game tables around the room but only a handful of people. A handful of wealthy looking people, I might add. Up ahead of him was Keith and his Pawniard, Ginny, who had noticed him enter along with two other trainers and multiple Pokemon he didn't recognize. Off to the right stood a Machoke with the same kind of hat the other Pokemon wore downstairs, signifying he was a guard like them, and he wasn't a fan of the group that just entered.

Normally, Hyrem would have tried to register all the Pokemon in his Pokedex that he hadn't seen before, but that would draw too much attention to him, he would have to do so later. In addition, Keith had gone down the left hallway as soon as he could which was probably for the best as any idle chit-chat would have wasted precious time spent gathering intel as well as draw suspicion to the guards.

Meanwhile, Tsurara had been up to some sneaky business of her own: even before they had even left for the Casino, before the sweltering summer heat got to her, she had gone through Hyrem's case of TMs and found one that she knew would prove useful to her--he even had a duplicate of it, so surely he wouldn't miss it, right? She let go of her trainer's shoulder, approached the Machoke, and started talking with him: "Why hello there, guardsman~ I'm quite new to this establishment, and I was wondering...where might the nearest bar be on this floor? Down one of those hallways perhaps? I could use something nice and cool after being out in the sun for so long." Hyrem saw what she was doing and muttered, "What are you doing, you're going to get us in trouble..." Tsurara switched back to human speech, "I just want something to drink, is that too much to ask?"
"You could always ask someone else..."
"Trust me, if anyone knows where things are, it's this fine gentleman right here~" she said, turning to the Machoke and winking at him. "Right, good sir~?" She didn't use her new Attract attack just yet, but if the guard Pokemon refused to answer her--or if he was about to do anything fishy--she had the spell ready to go. And if she was successful? She just might have provided the distraction that the other trainers may have been looking for to sneak past the Fighting-type and explore other areas; perhaps she would even be rewarded with that drink she was looking for, maybe some more people to strike up a few conversations with. Hyrem could do nothing but watch and hope that the Froslass wasn't about to get them thrown out of the Casino.

**********

Use: TM Attract on Froslass
New Move! Froslass learned Attract!

EDIT: Pokedex Entries
Spoiler: show
Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokemon. Squirtle can defend itself by tucking its head and limbs into its shell before spitting water to repel foes. Its shell is considered hydrodynamic, giving it the ability to swim at fast speeds. It is very accurate when spitting water, and it uses this accuracy when it surfaces to shoot prey from below, knocking them into the water for it to eat.

Magneton, the Magnet Pokemon. A Pokemon formed from three separate entities, it appears in groups during sunspot activities. Its magnetic forces disrupt many electronics as well as raise the temperature slightly during this time, so there are warning systems in place to warn cities of this occurrence as well as measures taken to try and drive groups of Magneton away.

Snubbull, the Fairy Pokemon. This Pokemon has an unsettling presence due to its face and the way it growls, but most Snubbull have good dispositions, making them popular among many humans, especially women. It does, however, scare other Pokemon away, which is unfortunate for those who want to make friends. Most of the time, it prefers to sleep for most of the day, doing some activities at night.

Machoke, the Superpower Pokemon, and the pre-evolved form of Machamp. After lots of bodybuilding, this Pokemon has crafted the best possible physique for itself and obtained abnormal amounts of strength. The belt it wears is not just for looks; it keeps its abnormal strength in check and can be taken off as a last resort against particularly powerful opponents. It continues training by doing heavy lifting for humans, and this, plus its good looks, has inspired sculptors to make statues of it.

It took all of Melody’s energy not to roll her eyes so hard that she went blind. First she hadn’t been able to close the door in time, which she could deal with, but then a friggin crowd decided to pretty much stampede into the elevator as well. So much for goddamn covert missions, but at least there was a silver lining to the situation. It would definitely be easier to blend into the crowd, even when you looked as absolutely stunning as Melody did. And then an idiot happened. Some stupid woman hit all the buttons in the elevator. Including the emergency stop button. Like Melody had already deduced, the woman must have been an idiot. A thought that was amplified when two goddamn guard pokemon, an Alakazam and Gengar, decided to join the party. The moment they entered the elevator, Silk started to tense up, the hair on her legs tickling Melody’s neck a little bit.

Great not only did Melody have to deal with a whole lot of crap atm, but now she had to completely resist the urge to start laughing in the middle of a crowded elevator. Melody wanted to internally scream, but since there was a probably telepathic pokemon in the elevator with her, she tried her damn hardest not to do so. With her plans going somewhat awry, that was probably the nicest way to put it, Melody had to try and change up her plan a little bit. She would need to blend into the crowd when they leave. Melody was interested in getting off on the P2F or 3F, just as long as a group of people also were getting off on the same floor.

Athena made her way up the stairs behind some other trainers and their Pokemon. She did a quick count, and realized, oddly, that there was a Pokemon on its own. Was there gambling here that Pokemon could participate in? Would it even be fair for an Electric type to be near the machines?

Her attention was drawn to the sound of large, wooden doors creaking open at the top of the stairs. The open doors revealed an expected sight of table games scattered around the room. Well-dressed patrons played at some of them, though they were few and far between. Athena didn't find it too strange, it was still the middle of the day.

A trainer in front of her had been stopped by one of the guards. She held her breath as the Machoke looked him up and down. It seemed to approve and let the trainer and his Pokemon by, bringing a sense of relief to Athena and Choux. However, Machoke still had its eye on the group that had come up the stairs.

Just make it look like you know exactly what you're doing... Athena told herself. Choux, being fairly relaxed, would go along with whatever his trainer did. At the moment, he was struggling to stay awake. Athena tapped him lightly to get his attention, then headed into the room. She smiled slightly at the Machoke in acknowledgement, then made her way to the main part of the room. The room had corridors leading out of it, but she was unable to see what was at the end of them. It was best to make a quick decision, and not mill about in this room and cause any more suspicion than she already had. She decided to take a cursory look over the tables, as if she was finding her preferred place to play. Once the Machoke's attention was off of her, she would make her way down the east corridor.

Trying to keep an eye on other people, including those she thinks might be allies but can't totally remember, Alice's attention was drawn to the animatronic. That was Five Nights as fuck, and nobody would convince her that come nightfall, it wouldn't attempt to drag itself out of its hidey hole and shove them all into heads and suits by any means necessary. Maybe it would turn their brains into ice cream. Was it too late for a spoiler alert? RIP y'all.

"Sammi, once I've got its attention, go and see if you can sniff out anything suspicious. Unless you think the cooks are poisoning anyone, the food court doesn't count." The entertainer insisted quietly to her pup, who seemed affronted, but couldn't really complain. They both liked food, okay? Jeez. Twirling round like a ballerina, Alice's ringlets fluttered, and she sprung off to investigate the freaky looking Jirachi. It probably had cameras in the eyes and-or nose, so someone blocking it was probably for the best. Maybe she could annoy it enough to break it. What a world.

"Oh wow, super cute but kinda scary! Neato! Jirachi is one of my favourite legendaries, so cool!" The trainer announced. It seemed to be triggered by motion, so she made sure to move just enough to keep it trained but not seem lively to the point of suspicion. Like before, Alice took photos, including a few of her with it, if only to keep up the appearance of a nosy and trashy tourist. "You're kind of like something from Phantom Isle, though, you poor little soul! Awwh~!"

By now, Samantha had jetted off, nose to the floor and sometimes to the air. Her eyes, too, were peeled, keeping in mind the cameras and guards as she had been briefed to before-- but it was hard to keep full attention. The other trainers and their Pokemon seemed to have plans in mind, and trying to ignore the smoking of unhealthy patrons, Samantha's senses were out to detect anything that the people may have missed.

Doors. There were an awful lot of doors, absolutely none of which were labeled or given any kind of visual distinction otherwise. And was that an intersection up ahead? Surely, there'd be more of those down here- Ami was almost willing to bet that there were more crossways like that down here to make tis layer of sin as confusing and frustrating to get through for the uninitiated as possible. Heck, many of the doors were probably duds, empty rooms set up to alert security that there was someone poking around- they certainly weren't set aside for private gaming, seeing as they weren't numbered at all.

Five other people were gathered here, looking around as if they were having similar thoughts about this peculiar predicament. The sixth one, almost a giant of a man, was far less enthralled by the scenario. In fact, he already knew what one of the rooms was somehow, and was quick to reveal himself as a raider like her. It was certainly a gutsy move on his part, seeing as any one of them could be a plant set on uncovering any would-be plots among the visitors, but... if they were all here for the same reason, shutting security down all the way was probably for the best. She gave a small nod of acknowledgement just before he turned away. The risk was probably worth the reward, right?

It was time to stop being so passive with her woobat's echolocation at last. A good paint job may have been able to fool the eyes, but it would take an awful lot of the stuff the disguise how the original materials absorbed and reflected sound differently from each other, and an increased number of paint layers would be a giveaway that something was amiss with that door as well. "Alright, Nadie, scan every nook and cranny we pass. If any of the doors, walls, or anything else comes back at a different frequency than anything else, fly over and Stamp it with a little Heart and move on- we'll need that information for later, I believe."

Now that she's whispered her orders, she started to walk towards the intersection. It was unlikely that she'
d be of much good if she stayed at the base of the stairwell, after all...
