Griffins in mythology are notorious for hoarding golden treasures, hence the possible wild hold item, the collar around Solagrif's neck, and Coroknight's armor. They are also often associated with the sun and circle motif; there's even one source that states that in mythology, griffins pulled the chariot of the Greco-Roman sun god, Apollo/Mars, among other gods' chariots. Thus, the idea of a sun-and-gold themed griffin was appealing to me. In addition, griffins are associated with the masculine (hence the gender ratio) and are sometimes viewed as a counter to unicorns, which are sometimes associated with the moon and feminity. If I were to hypothetically create Pokemon for another gen, Solagrif's family would be a version exclusive complimented by a unicorn/pegacorn family with a feminine silver lunar knight theme. Solagrif specifically was designed to be a cute predecessor that looks like a more consistent blend between an eagle and a lion. It's covered entirely in warm-colored feathers instead of half feathers, half fur, and even though it has "flight" feathers on its front legs with tertiary flight feathers at each side of it, it cannot fly just yet. Although they are born to a Pokemon that often nests on rocky cliffs (provided the mother is its evolved form), they are actually born in caves near the ground. They are rumored to be born in agate eggs because the parent would trick the invaders of its nest by setting egg-shaped agate in their nests as decoys. (And yes, the agate eggs are also drawn from griffin mythos.) Coroknight (corona + knight) Classification: Sun Knight Pokemon Picture: [normal] [shiny] Type: Fire/Flying Ability: Battle Armor - Prevents critical hits Gender Ratio: 75% Male / 25% Female Height: 6'9" Weight: 210 lbs. Evolution Chain: Solagrif--[Lv32+ & level up in daylight]--Coroknight Color Category: Red Pokedex Category: Mountains Possible Wild Hold Item: Nugget - 5% chance Egg Steps to Hatch: 6,120 Breeding Group: Ground Effort Points Gained from Defeating it: Attack +2 Catch Rate: 65 Base Happiness: 70 Pal Park Location: Mountain Flavor Text: COROKNIGHT hoards gold within its nest and clads itself in stolen armor. Base Stats: HP: 75 Attack: 110 Defense: 85 Special Attack: 75 Special Defense: 70 Speed: 90 Level-Up Moves: -- Solarbeam -- Scratch -- Tail Whip Lv.08 Ember Lv.13 Peck Lv.17 Quick Attack Lv.22 Flame Wheel Lv.26 Assist Lv.29 Sunny Day Lv.32 Morning Sun Lv.36 Steel Wing Lv.42 Agility Lv.67 Sky Attack Egg Moves: -Flare Blitz -Metal Claw -Smokescreen -Featherdance -Screech -Covet Move Tutor Moves: -Swagger -Sleep Talk -Double-Edge -Substitute -Mimic -Snore -Swift -Endure -Body Slam -Rock Slide -Swords Dance TM/HM Moves: TM05 Roar TM06 Toxic TM10 Hidden Power TM11 Sunny Day TM12 Taunt TM15 Hyper Beam TM16 Light Screen TM17 Protect TM20 Safeguard TM21 Frustration TM22 Solarbeam TM23 Iron Tail TM27 Return TM32 Double Team TM33 Reflect TM35 Flamethrower TM38 Fire Blast TM40 Aerial Ace TM42 Facade TM43 Secret Power TM44 Rest TM45 Attract TM46 Thief TM47 Steel Wing TM50 Overheat TM51 Roost TM58 Endure TM61 Will-o-Wisp TM65 Shadow Claw TM68 Giga Impact TM75 Swords Dance TM78 Captivate TM80 Rock Slide TM82 Sleep Talk TM83 Natural Gift TM87 Swagger TM88 Pluck TM89 U-Turn TM90 Substitute HM01 Cut HM02 Fly HM04 Strength HM05(D/P) Defog HM06 Rock Smash Explanation: The big guy who really bears the sun griffin theme. Although still entirely covered in feathers (even the lion portion), he has fully-developed wings and he wears light armor formed from his hoard of gold. He also tends to carry off horses, once more an allusion to mythical griffin behavior. (Now, I can't say that he can really carry off a Rapidash, but knowing the games' tendency to exaggerate things in the Pokedex, I thought it fit well. :P) The design is inspired by a Roman soldier's armor, and its crest matches that of a Roman helmet. Coroknight may have good attack and speed stats, but its defenses and typing can give it problems along with its arguably useless ability (which mostly works for pokes that can take a hit). I debated on making him Steel/Fire with Levitate or Steel/Flying, but adding a steel type into it didn't really appeal to me since I felt it would nix either the sun (fire) or flying aspects of it; the armor isn't fused into him anyways, and it could theoreticallly be removed. |

The other part is based on guard dogs, thus a guardian canine for ancient tombs. Ankhal's headdress is a stylised version of the real Anubis', while the gold markings on its body is a stylised ankh (the ankh's upside-down drop is the circle around its neck, et cetera). Its shiny colour uses a sand-like shade for the body while the ankh marking is black as it is on some hieroglyphs. IMPERAMID: Imperamid's pose is a poke at the monumental Egyptian Sphinx, while its headdress is "upgraded" to contain elements of pharaoh's headgear. The dark tealish colour of its normal form makes Imperamid seem like a statue or figurine -- the colour of such items placed in tombs, made out of mineral, while its shiny form reuses Ankhal's body colour scheme, suggesting that the guardian statue has regained the sentience of the animal it emulates. The red and white headgear of shiny Imperamid is a reversed combination of the ancient pharaoh crown, symbolising Upper and Lower Egypt combined. STATISTICS: Ankhal came out as a mix between the original dark dogs, Houndour and Poochyena -- between the two in height but leaner and meaner. As a result its height is between the former two but its weight is lower. Imperamid, on the other hand, seemed to emulate Arcanine more, albeit more defensive and slower and not so big. However, it's still capable of transporting humans like Arcanine can. Ankhal's moves range between a mix of damaging and crippling the opponent, portraying its relentless nature towards its opponents. Upon evolution, Imperamid gained mystic powers in the form of hexes and spells, this reflected in its new pseudo-psychic movepool (Psych Up, Trick Room) in addition to its new-found gaiakinetic abilities, plus the Fire-type TMs (which other Rock-types like Rhypherior and Golem get in any case). In addition to having their parents as protection, Chichroma have large wings that allow them to fly to the safety of the trees if there is danger nearby. As they grow older, the wings shrink as the tails grow, causing the Chichroma to rely more on the newly developed eyespots when they get too heavy to become airborne. ~Egg Moves~ Covet Agility Baton Pass Assist Camouflage Extremespeed Roost Block Mean Look Tail Slap Featherdance Leaf Blade Mirror Move Smack Down ~Level-Up Moves~ -Peck -Tail Whip -Mud-Slap Lv5: Magical Leaf Lv11: Grass Whistle Lv18: Air Cutter Lv25: Leaf Tornado Lv34: Tail Wind Lv40: Mega Drain ~TMs~ TM01: Hone Claws TM04: Calm Mind TM06: Toxic TM10: Hidden Power TM11: Sunny Day TM12: Taunt TM17: Protect TM18: Rain Dance TM21: Frustration TM22: Solarbeam TM27: Return TM32: Double Team TM40: Aerial Ace TM44: Rest TM45: Attract TM48: Round TM49: Echoed Voice TM53: Energy Ball TM62: Acrobatics TM67: Retaliate TM70: Flash TM83: Work Up TM86: Grass Knot TM87: Swagger TM88: Pluck TM89: U-Turn TM90: Substitute HM01: Cut ~Move Tutor~ Signal Beam Uproar Low Kick Earth Power Synthesis Roost Giga Drain Tailwind Helping Hand Sleep Talk ~Peachroma, the Peacock Pokemon~ Etymology: Peacock+Chromatic (Pee-KRO-ma) Type: Ground/Grass Ability: Intimidate/Chlorophyll Gender Ratio: 40% Male/ 60% Female Height: 3'7" tail down; 6' tail up Weight: 54.9 lbs Evolution Chain: Second stage pokemon, evolves from Chichroma with a Leaf Stone Color Category: Green Breeding Group: Flying/Plant Effort Points: +2 SpAttk, +1 Spd ~Base Stats~ HP: 90 Attack: 80 Defense: 80 Special Attack:115 Special Defense: 90 Speed: 102 ~Flavor Text~ Peachroma are unusual in that both genders of the species sport the same magnificent tail and coloring rather than just the male. Bubbleata
Regular Shiny Water Luminescent Pokemon Gender Ratio: 50:50 Male:Female Length: 1'0" Weight: 6.6lbs Ability: Swift Swim / Clear Body (Hidden: Anticipation) Egg Group: Water1 / Amorphous Evolution: Bubbleata --Lv. 18--> Molleata --Lv. 34--> Linouette Dex: It can make its brilliant markings flash to deter attackers. If the attacker persists, it prefers to hide in its shell over fighting back. Detailed: Bubbleata is a rather vulnerable outside of its shell. Although it is naturally quite warm, it cannot generate enough heat to use as a weapon. It is a gentle bottom-dweller found in tropical seas that feeds on algae that has settled on rocks, perfectly content with its dull but rather safe niche. It is very passive and will not go out of its way to interact with other Pokémon. The neon rims around its edges and yellow stripes on its shell are actually bioluminescent, capable of generating surprisingly bright light. In clear water, one can generate enough light to be seen 100 metres away, probably more if they were a bit larger. They make good cuddle buddies if you don’t mind the slime. It can generate temperatures up to 110oC to attack. Detailed: Molleata has reached the point where it can use fire as an offensive measure. While it mightn’t seem terribly useful at first glance, given its oceanic habitat, it can vaporise the water in front of its head. The sudden bubble of water vapour quickly closes in on itself with a deafening bang, hopefully stunning the attacker and allowing the Molleata to escape. Though more mobile than its previous stage, it still prefers to make its home on the sea floor. Its main diet consists of medium-sized seaweeds. Its shell has been reduced to flame-like spines along its back. Detailed: A creature of Linouette’s size has little reason to fear attack in the wild most of the time. Though smaller, faster fish may take the occasional nip at its delicate frills, the only thing it really needs to fear are Sharpedo and other particularly large predators. Though its shell is generally unusable as it could be in its previous forms, it can curl up and stick out the spines as a first-line deterrent. If something’s dead-set on eating it however, this comes with the drawback of immobilising the Linouette, so it doesn’t take long for it to drop the defensive position and move on to more offensive methods. It retains Molleata’s ability to flash-boil water in its vicinity, scaled up somewhat to its larger body. Name: Placarmour (Placoderm + armour) Species: Rock Decoy Pokémon Type: Water/Rock Ability: Solid Rock/Battle Armour | DW: Marvel Scale Height: 3'4" Weight: 75 lbs Gender Ratio: 50% Male / 50% Female Egg Group: Water 2 Evolution Chain: Placarmour --(Lv.55 if deep underwater while holding )-> Guillobyss Base Stats: HP: 75 Attack: 30 Defence: 130 Special Attack: 15 Special Defence: 65 Speed: 45 Flavour Text: Only recently discovered, PLACARMOUR is an ancient bottom-feeding species that has gone unnoticed by humans for decades, despite its wide distribution. Its armour and camoflage is so perfect, it simply resembles a rock on the seabed unless it moves, which it rarely does. Thought to be related to RELICANTH, it is much more common, with its Rocky armour protecting it from both predators and oceanic pressure, but this means it cannot swim far or fast and must rest on the seafloor frequently. It can pull itself along with its sturdy fins if needed. Very few find the trigger for their evolution, leaving many to spend their entire lengthy life in this stage. Combined with its powerful body, GUILLOBYSS can now swim at speed at any depth. It seems as though it is intent on repaying all that it endured as a PLACARMOUR. An apex predator, it charges its prey head-on, deflecting attacks with its thick armour before slicing them with its shearing teeth and sharp fins. It can tear apart a healthy WAILORD with little trouble. Cowing even schools of SHARPEDO, it is unsurpassed at the top of the food chain as supreme ruler of the oceans.
