"Hey if you wanna have some fun later, call me. I'll be in town for the night. Later," Austin gave a hand wave as he could see the blush erupt onto the guy's face. He and Twix grabbed some more food from the stalls, enough to have a good dinner. He found a nice little spot in a grassy knoll to watch the fireworks go off. Putting the berry bag aside to not damage them, he and Twix ate the rest of the food they had gotten while watching the fireworks. It was sort of nostalgic. Unova always had summer fireworks to celebrate the region. Even if it was February, these fireworks couldn't help but remind Austin of the various displays he saw in Virbank. It was said that this was a new lunar year. Austin didn't really understand it, but if it was a fresh start, he liked that. A lot had happened in the past year. He had been keeping it easy since his little display at New Fizz's New Years Celebration. Let his hair grow back out, fix some things, etc. So here was to a truly fresh start. Not just with Twix, but everyone on his team. OOC: Twix went from Level 11 to Level 12 Twix went from 23 Bond to 25 Austin has obtained 5 Rindo Berries. Ty for the event MS~

"New Year's, huh..." Jess had never followed much of her heritage's traditions, but with everyone in high spirits for the first ever Lunar Festival held in the land of Fizzy Bubbles, it was hard not to get excited about something she (should claim to have) had some familial familiarity in. At the very least, she had dug out a red and gold embroidered jacket borrowed from her mother, which she now sported as she passed by similarly hued lanterns on her way up the steps to the Stone Shrine, led by the sounds of laughter lighting the way to food and fun. By her feet trotted three canine companions: a Houndour whose shimmering blue body offset the overwhelming abundance of auburn; a pure white Vulpix of similar peculiar hue; and a plain Poochyena who, while not as colorful as his comrades, blended seamlessly into the stone backdrop, passing easily for one of the statues erected in honor of the coming year's courier. (Cur-ier, rather.) Upon reaching the entrance gate, they were greeted warmly by the shrine maiden in charge (doubling as the domain's trial captain), along with an intimidating-looking lycan creature Jess had never seen before. Despite her outward appearance, the pooch seemed friendly and docile enough, remaining still save for wagging her tail as she allowed curious children to pet her coat. Jess bowed appreciately in thanks to their host (whilst stumbling through her broken "ancestral" tongue to wish her a Happy New Year), who simply smiled and returned the salutations, directing them to the main building to pick up a complimentary treat. Thus they made their first stop to pay their respects and receive a charm, however they were once again faced with an even fiercer-looking feral beast, who was clearly keeping a keen eye on the basket of bones to prevent any extra handouts, drooling possessively over the leftover pile (probably promised to her at night's end once each visitor had taken a piece). Jess looked to her trio of pal pups apologetically. "Sorry guys, looks like it's one per customer." Link simply nodded and politely passed, letting the ladies(?) select first. Makoto attempted to eagerly approach the bowl, but the guard growled and eyed her skeptically, clearly not considering her species a close enough relative to count. The Vulpix let out an "Auu~" of indignation, but Jess quickly cut in before an argument could break out. "Here, why don't we let Sheik have a share? Makoto, I have something else special for you that I've been saving." Jess laid her pack down and pulled out a a Very Hot Cross Bun, proferring it to the peeved 'pix, who perked immediately upon sniffing the steamed bread. "It's like a meat bun, but extra spicy. Careful, it's hot." The kit keenly claimed the roll, digging in and devouring deliciousness with gusto. Despite her attunement to a wintry climate, it seemed she was perfectly capable of handling heat as well, polishing off the pastry within seconds. Meanwhile, Sheik quietly lifted a bone by its string from the bin, gracefully and gratefully bowing deep before calmly consuming the confectionary. From there, the group faced a number of activity options to choose from. While there was the delectable smell of more savory food wafting from further stalls down the way, they decided to save their stomaches for now and check out the entertainment. Makoto seemed especially fascinated by the fireworks, although Jess could catch a mischievous glint in her eye that gave the girl a bad feeling about letting the (newly flame-endowed) fox near any incendiary hazards. At any rate, since Link had been patient up to now, Jess decided to let him express his desire first. (Makoto again appeared disappointed, but Jess promised they would play with the sparklers later.) The Poochyena opted to wander towards a more secluded area of the shrine, where there stood a table run by a slightly younger-seeming lass than the head maiden. On the surface sat a mysterious box labeled "fortunes", surrounded by several small carvings of another unfamiliar puppy Pokémon - one real specimen of which was seated in the lady's lap and thoroughly enjoying her headpats. Jess was never one to put much stock in fortunetelling, but she figured it couldn't hurt to give it a shot. Upon hearing the message bestowed upon them, she mused more thoughtfully than she'd anticipated upon it, particuarly the first and last lines: "Wash off the bad things from the past... The person or thing you are waiting for will arrive late, huh?" A sigh escaped her lips, then she smiled and thanked the prophet pup and her partner, who beamed and handed her a pair of Repeat Balls. Jess regarded them for a moment with a wistful reminiscence, before pocketing the prizes. As they took their leave, Jess noticed a tree nearby with a number of tags hanging from its branches: like a mobile of hopes and dreams, built by those wishing to turn their luck around. (Again, she felt a pang of melancholy for some reason.) After some debate, she decided to add hers to the dangling diorama as well, lifting Link up so he could help tie the parchment to a high limb. They then moved on to the aforementioned fireworks, although Jess still seemed somewhat distracted. When it came time for the grand finale itself, they found a comfy spot to watch the dancers and dazzling displays from, blooming like brilliant flowers in the air. As a particularly luminous explosion went off, raining down shimmering shards of vivid shades, Jess whispered to herself under the din: "It'd be nice if time could be turned back." She felt fur brush against her body, as Link flopped onto her forearm, curling cozily up against the crook. Makoto, upon seeing this, wavered a bit in hesitation; but eventually jealousy got the best of her as she decided to test out the position as well, determining the temperature and texture were adequate enough as she snuggled against the softness, thus surrounding Jess in the same warmth and weight on each side. Sheik had predictably slipped away into the shadows at some point, but Jess could sense vigilant eyes still looking on from what was surely a short distance; like a protective guardian never straying far, making her feel safe and secure. "Time passes, people move..." But the one thing that would never change, Jess realized, is that her teammates - friends - would always be there for her. Perhaps she had lost connections in the past year, but she had also made new ones - as well as strengthened some she already had - she thought as she tentatively stroked Makoto's tails, which simultaneously swished in time to the drumbeats. No matter where she wandered in life, this was her home, and whenever she grew weary and needed a break, she could always count on having a "family" here waiting for her. OoC - Picking up: 1x Dog Treat (feeding to Lv. 17 Shiny Houndour to raise her to Lv. 18 and Bond by 2) 3x Repeat Balls 1x Red Envelope (contains $500) Also feeding 1x Very Hot Cross Bun to Alolan Vulpix to teach her CROSSFIRE. Happy belated New Year! Thanks for the fun event~
