...I don't think I'll ever look at Blue/Gary the same way ever again.
Wow... I never noticed this as a kid. How... dark.

He's still the coolest guy in the game, not to mention he later grows up to become the Ground Gym Leader, and seems to be pretty happy.

I knew about his raticate dieing...
But that other stuff... pretty interesting speculation, most of it. But that's a good point about him being an orphan. |

I think it says something concerning about those who came up with the whole "oak being ash's dad" theory.
But otherwise its downright hilarious

I'm such a huge fan I can't explain it without writing and linking you to much too much. So, instead I'll hold myself back and just link you to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minami-ke . If you'd like me to link you to more, I can. I hope you check out the show.

A friend of mine has always insisted that RBY is the darkest of the Pokemon games. In some sense, it's true.
They haven't touched on a lot of the more morbid ideas since RBY. Team Rocket was extremely malicious and self-serving. They corrupted, tortured, mutilated, experimented on and otherwise abused their Pokemon. Lavender Town was a town about death, something that was focused on and became part of the story. It directly confronted the death of Pokemon, even forcing you to fight the ghost of a Marowak. Death is glazed over in other games with RSE/DP, in which they just mention it and have a place that's really nothing more than an excuse to catch Ghosts. Sure, there's been a good bit of maturation in some of the concepts but there's still a good deal of darkness surrounding the first gen. >After all, aren't we also in Lavender Town? Sure, but we had a reason to go into Pokemon Tower (to save Mr. Fuji). Gary didn't. |

We didn't even know of Mr. Fuji's existence, much less plan on saving him, prior to our arrival in town, Jeri.

Because all we see is "4CHAN.ORG." We don't see an actual image. You may, but it's because it's in your browser cache.

But Buterfree could look better than Venonat if it was actually Venonat.

The problem is, the bottom half of the second image lies for the sake of its joke. It would be something else if it were real, but the sprites are (obviously) switched, just as in the first image.
As for the top half of the second image, the caterpillar doesn't match the adult. The adult pictured is indeed a swallowtail butterfly, but that's Beautifly's identity: Well, further research has suggested that there are many, many kinds of swallowtail butteflies. (I did not know this: I am not an entomologist!) And I've found a caterpillar which does match a swallowtail ... but it still isn't the one depicted in the jpeg of 4chan's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Mormon has a Caterpie-like caterpillar, but an adult form which looks little like Venomoth except for the swallowtail wing extensions. This one appears to be Beautifly's identity. It could also be this one, which is said to be Japan's most common swallowtail. In fact, it probably is the second one, which has much more black markings than the first one does. (A re-look at Beautifly confirms just how much of its wings are black and not colored.)
