My fancy tables required a lot of figuring out coding. I can't really sit down and explain them to you and my explanations wouldn't be much better than the FAQs on other wikis.

Ah. Eh, too bad.
Anyone know how to program a redirect? I want to make Kindrindra redirect to User:Kindrindra. Maybe have Kin and Kind do so too. |

The Wiki's not letting me add pictures to pages or upload new ones.
Also, collapsible tables? Pretty please? |

I would recommend doing two things:
(1) closing member registrations on the Wiki, at least for now. You can always manually register people who want to sign up by having them ask via the forum proper. (2) letting someone have the Wiki power to go through and delete all pages made by spambot accounts and subsequently deleting the spambot accounts themselves. 'Cause you've gotten a shitton of Viagra and other spambot shit on the Wiki from the looks of things. (Just check out "Recent Changes." )

Plenty. Long since forgotten. Half of what I recorded there when I wrote that page up I've already forgotten. There's also the fact that, like, it doesn't really record a lot of the history on UPN over the past four years mostly owing to ... stuff.

Has there been any meaningful, actually significant, history of UPN in the past four years? It kinda seems to be the exact same as it was when the wiki was started, besides the fact that we have a couple renamed/bifurcated forums and Yuki is a mod.

Nothing that major happened, I don't think. Different hosting now, I guess. And we're back on vb again. If that was within 4 years.
Does UPN game stuff count? |

So this is still totally a thing and I'd like to revive it, but the image upload dealie is borked right now, so it's sorta hard to use.
While we wait for moo to magically appear from the darkness and free us from the oppression of bad file permissions, are their suggestions for how to utilize this resource? |

It might be an idea to archive older memes and how they came about there for the curious, as a start. |

Apparently moo is doing us a solid and actually updating the wiki software for us (whoo!) so we should make his work worthwhile and do something.

There could be a section for LO rulings on things that make not be worth putting into a thread and even though it seems Kin was joking, a wiki could be a great place to host detailed info on officially accepted arenas.

Having squad summaries there isn't a bad idea, since its off both sites and so we won't have people who are linking to opposite forums. From there, we could put information about the various subforums or...I'm not sure. Maybe the updated FB calendar?

The FB calender would be well suited to the Wiki, as would an Arenas page for custom made ASB arenas we want to archive.
I think we should encourage squad summaries on the Wiki, but I don't think we need to make it mandated or anything. |

Well ASB wise we should probably duplicate everything on the site, the forums and elsewhere, encourage archive and meme collations and ensure that someone is actually responsible for dealing with it.
Otherwise FB could certainly use the resource to improve their service. I don't suppose that really applies to WF but other RPGs could benefit. |

An important thing to remember, though, is because we have a million and one RPs and with that follows the possibility of a lot of name criss crossing, things will have to be appropriately named and labeled.

If the project takes off we could use it to collate fanart and the like created by the membership.

I will admit that, for the most part, I don't see much point in the wiki aside from:

The reason you speak of is largely just inertia.
Taking the ASB, our site is a joke. It always has been and it probably always will be if we're being realistic. At least for the foreseeable future, It is difficult to use, both back and front end, and difficult to collaborate on it. Taking FB, you have centralised leadership but are spread across three forums with a huge amount of history and current information. You aren't allowing people to join (right?) so can't really expect to grow or survive for too much longer. Both would strongly benefit from a wiki I think. In both cases you've got the ability to put all of your rules and guides and info in one place and you've got the ability to open it up to collaborative work. The usual pitfalls of a wiki apply but generally I think the ability to record epic moments, character bios and useful info in one place that doesn't require you to sign up can only be a positive. |
