Slumbering Wilds Raid Battle 2: Koffing!
Raid Boss Koffing ★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: None Raid Challengers Sniz, Girafarig: 300 HP Pearl's Perap, Slowking: 300 HP PikaGod, Qwilfish: 300 HP Raves, Nidoqueen: 300 HP Koffing watches with narrowed eyes, suspicious of the gathered trainers - but the wide grin never once falters, the gaseous interloper certain of his victory. Delighting in the hazy fog gradually taking hold of the clearing, the Poison type hums to himself as he bobs through the air, deciding that the Raiders offered him little threat. Despite this, they stand valiantly - and without warning, a flash of light engulfs Slowking, the sudden charge of energy signalling the beginning of this suppression. Dynamax initiative: Pearl's Perap, Slowking

The Slumbering Wilds was another location that Zak hadn't visited during his previous time in Fizzytopia but the terrain reminded him and Doug of the man's expedition through the dense jungles of Lyanazia in their past, evoking a sense of nostalgia in the pair as they trudged between the vines and foliage. Much like his last raid, he had decided that he would bring along another member of his team to gain some insight into how raids work in preparation for their own participation. This time, the man had selected his newly hatched Toxel, Lemmy, choosing to carry him in his arms through the Slumbering Wilds like an unruly toddler.
As the trio arrived at a large clearing, their foe could hardly be missed as the Koffing floated ominously before them and their fellow raiders who had already reached the battleground ahead of them. At the sight of his foe, Doug had started to walk ahead of the trainer and the Toxel he held, clearly psyching himself up for the bout ahead. With Dynamax initiative available to them, Zak held up the arm where he wore his Dynamax Band and the Slowking nodded without command, his eyes beginning to glow as he grew to a gargantuan size in a mere matter of seconds. Though the Poison-type before them was still of a gigantic size to the trainer and the raiders, the Slowking now towered over the clearing and the Koffing too. "Looking good, Doug - let's start things off with Max Steelspike! (130BP off Iron Tail)"

Raid Boss Koffing ★★★ Health Gauge: 83% Shields Up: 0 Status: Stockpile (1), Def +1, SpDef +1 Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Max Darkness (130 BP) PikaGod, Qwilfish: 170 HP Attack 2: Stockpile (0 BP) Raid Challengers Sniz, Girafarig: 300 HP (Def+1, SpDef -1) Pearl's Perap, Slowking: 500 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1) [Dynamaxed (2 turns remaining)] PikaGod, Qwilfish: 170 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1) Raves, Nidoqueen: 300 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1) Pulling the trigger early, the Raiders watch on in awe as energy consumes Doug, the Slowking growing rapidly and soon standing eye to eye with their colossal foe. Koffing frowns at this - and his displeasure is only compounded as the assault begins. A Hydro Pump lashes at his tough hide, the torrential soaking quickly followed by a thin yet vicious beam of bright blue light. Nolon neighs in amusement as Koffing recoils visibly, but the worst was yet to come. Nidoqueen crackles with a potent electricity, roaring balefully as a thickened bolt discharges high into the sky, arcing round to smash into the upper portion of Koffing's body, with Doug compounding his misery with a jagged surge of metallic energy. As the Max Steelspike dissipates, Koffing retaliates, enveloping Poisson in blackened tendrils, the resulting explosion weakening the gathered Raiders. Seeking to mitigate further damage, Koffing then focuses on bolstering his defences, determined to make the encounter a drawn out one. Dynamax initiative: Pearl's Perap, Slowking

With the raid underway and Doug the Slowking Dynamaxing to tower over their collective foe almost instantaneously, the new born Toxel Zak was holding carefully crawled his way up and out of the arms he was being cradled within, preferring to take a perch upon his trainer’s shoulder instead where he could make use of the man’s head to rest and get a better view of proceedings.
“What do you think, eh, Lemmy? Isn’t Doug a right beast?” The Toxel did not respond, though; he appeared to be completely entranced by the exchange of attacks between the two giant Pokémon as well as the rest of the raiding party. As the round continued, though, the Baby Pokémon let out a small cheer every now and again. Though he was focusing hard on the raid he had been signed up for, Doug could sense this extra cheerleader's support and took a moment to smile down at his and Zak’s new friend. With the first round complete, the Dynamaxed Pokémon turned his attention then to the man for his next command. Given he still had a couple more turns left in his Dynamax form, the trainer thought quickly about the best way to hit the Koffing hard. With a strategy in mind, the man called his order to the skyscraper-tall Slowking, hoping to change the terrain of the clearing ready for one last Max attack against the gaseous giant: “Doug, time to show our new friend your Max Mindstorm!” (130 BP off Psychic + TwistedSpoon)

Raid Boss Koffing ★★★ Health Gauge: 68% Shields Up: 2 Status: Stockpile (1), Def +1, SpDef +1, Psychic Terrain (4) Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Max Mindstorm (120 BP) PikaGod, Qwilfish: 0 HP Attack 2: Flamethrower (90 BP) raves, Nidoqueen: 201 HP Raid Challengers Sniz, Girafarig: 300 HP (Def+1, SpDef -1) Pearl's Perap, Slowking: 500 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1) [Dynamaxed (1 turns remaining)] PikaGod, Qwilfish: 0 HP [Must sit out one round until fully recovered] Raves, Nidoqueen: 201 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1, Focused) Determined to seize a future advantage, Nidoqueen steadies her gaze, intently staring at her foe. Koffing is somewhat perturbed by this, shifting uneasily - but the focus of the monarch does not break for a second, a triumphant huff escaping her throat as she enters the zone. Buoyed by this, Poisson expunges yet another seething torrent of water, Doug carrying the torch next with a rousing Max Mindstorm. As a fuzzy purple haze spread across the clearing, Nolon relies on a tested emans, smashing a Confusion square between the eyes of the colossal gasbag - or he would, had shields not materialised to safeguard the Raid Boss at the last second. Koffing, unsurprisingly, is displeased. Thick rings gather around his forehead, before Poisson is rocked by a retaliatory Max Mindstorm, the Qwilfish deflating as he collapses. The Raiders worry, though mercifully Nidoqueen is spared lasting damage as she is doused in flame. Dynamax initiative: Pearl's Perap, Slowking

Doug's second Max attack of the battle hit the mark and came with a secondary effect. Out of nowhere, a thin pink haze enveloped the battlefield and the raiders on the ground. This new terrain provided a boost to the psychic abilities of the raiding Pokémon and would hopefully do so for a little while yet. The man found the whole thing quite enchanting, though he didn't feel the same benefits as his Slowking or the Girafarig who fought alongside him.
"Tox! Tox!" Lemmy exclaimed at the arrival of the peculiar haze, tapping at his trainer's head and pointing at the strange clinging cloud that had began to swirl all around them. He wouldn't have benefited from the attack's effects either but he sure thought it looked cool. "Cool stuff, eh? Thought Doug might benefit from the effect of psychic terrain once he loses his size in the next turn." Zak patted the Baby Pokémon's tiny hand in the same fashion as he had his trainer's head, enjoying knowing that his newly acquired Toxel was starting to come out of his shell and seemed to be enjoying the whole raid experience, too. With the raid continuing and the raiding party unleashing a wave of attacks against their Poison-type enemy, the time came for the Koffing to raise its defenses even further than it had already. Before the beastly bag of gas, a series of glistening shields formed out of nowhere, protecting him from any further harm for the time being. That wasn't all, though, their foe also managed to successfully take down one of Doug's fellow raiders, decimating the Qwilfish's hitpoints with relative ease. "Time to douse Koffing's firepower before you lose your newfound powers, Doug - hit that thing with a Max Geyser (130BP off Dive) and bring the rains to the rainforest!"

Raid Boss Koffing ★★★ Health Gauge: 62% Shields Up: 0 Status: Stockpile (1), Psychic Terrain (3), Sunny Day (4) KOs: 1 Trainer Recovery Summary PikaGod, Qwilfish: Cheer raves, Nidoqueen: 300 HP Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Max Flare (140 BP) raves, Nidoqueen: 192 HP Attack 2: Fire Blast (110 BP) Sniz, Girafarig: 171 HP Raid Challengers Sniz, Girafarig: 171 HP (Def+1, SpDef -1) Pearl's Perap, Slowking: 300 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1) PikaGod, Qwilfish: 300 HP [Fully Recovered] Raves, Nidoqueen: 192 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1, Focused) Nolon and Nidoqueen do the gritty work, smashing moves into the remaining bulwark protecting Koffing. The gasbag shudders as his defences are ravaged, and Doug is swift to take advantage. Gathering his energies, the Slowking rams a thickened blue beam into the face of his foe, the torrential waters churning the atmosphere and summoning blackened clouds from above. Koffing doesn't enjoy this sudden shower, dispelling the darkness with a raging Max Flare which summons an overbearing heat. Doubling down, Koffing blasts a conflagration dead into the face of Nolon, the Girafarig whinnying in pain. Dynamax initiative: Expired

In the final turn of his first Dynamax session, the souped-up Slowking successfully unleashed one last Max Attack upon the Koffing. This time the Royal Pokémon went with the ordered Max Geyser. Similar to the previous attack, this brought with it a secondary effect and a harsh rainstorm began to tip down across the battlefield, the raiders and the Koffing who did not appear to be greatly fazed.
Not wanting to be outsmarted by the raiding party, the gigantic gasbag before them set about making his own changes to the environment they found themselves facing off with it in. No sooner had Doug brought the rains to the Slumbering Wilds did their ferocious foe counter with his own Max attack, this time a Max Flare which quickly caused the sunlight to grow harsh. In a few seconds, the storm Doug had created was all but a memory and the sun’s rays beat down upon the gathered group and their enemy. Squinting through the light, Zak watched on as Doug began to shrink down to his former size once again, ready to resume the battle at his normal fighting weight. The Toxel upon his shoulder noticed this as well, puzzled by the sudden change and pointing with a stubby finger at the unfolding events as he tapped fervently upon his trainer’s head once more. “Doug, now you’re back to normal, I want you to go with...” The man cut his words short, having noticed that the Royal Pokémon had already began to meditate in preparation to unleash his Psychic (90 BP + TwistedSpoon) powers upon the Koffing, hoping to make use of the temporary boosting properties of the peculiar terrain as well as the bizarre piece of cutlery he was tasked with holding on to.

Raid Boss Koffing ★★★ Health Gauge: 44% Shields Up: 2 Status: Stockpile (1), Psychic Terrain (2), Sunny Day (3) KOs: 2 Raid Boss Attack Summary Attack 1: Max Flare (140 BP) raves, Nidoqueen: 0 HP Attack 2: Shadow Ball (80 BP) Sniz, Girafarig: 171 HP Raid Challengers Sniz, Girafarig: 171 HP (Def+1, SpDef -1) Pearl's Perap, Slowking: 300 HP (Def +1, SpDef -1) PikaGod, Qwilfish: 300 HP Raves, Nidoqueen: 0 HP [Must sit out one round until fully recovered] Rallying with the revival of Poisson, the raiders continue their arduous task. Nolon falls back on an old favourite, eyes burning intensely as he smashes a thin beam into Koffing - the Poison type reeling from the terrain enhanced strike. Poisson seeks to wreak his revenge, but despite the forceful torrent issued from his mouth, the overbearing heat allows Koffing to tank the blow admirably. Not so for Doug's contribution. Empowered by the shifting purple haze, the Slowking grins wide as he crashes Koffing into the ground with tremendous ferocity, the embattled Boss summoning his defensive bulwarks for the final time. Nidoqueen finds herself thwarted by these measures, and is immediately roasted violently by a surging Max Flare, sending her to an early retirement. Unfortunately for Koffing, his hot streak ends there, as a writhing mass of shadowy energy disperses harmlessly over the hide of Nolon. Dynamax initiative: Expired
