Walking inside the Cable Club for the millionth of time, Ethan had an upbeat attitude about him as he made his way to a trading machine. What had him in such a happy mood, you may ask? He had, once again, managed to secure a major want of his…this time it was a baby Pokémon usually found in the Sinnoh Region, a Mime Jr.

Logging into his account, Ethan withdrew a few candies from his coat pocket before depositing the currency into the machine and arranging the trade with the other party…waited awhile before a white statically light emitted from the machine replacing the 5 candies he had placed with a red and white Pokeball.

Grasping the sphere in his palm, Ethan threw the ball high in the air before calling out the Pokémon, "Mime Jr. come on out!"and in a flash the capsule opened up revealing an adorable tiny clown, with a red button nose, "Mime!" it exclaimed happily, as Ethan titled his head, so did the Mime, instantly copying the trainer’s movements, it seemed like what the boy had read about the Pokémon was correct in that it mimicked whatever it set its eyes on.

Ethan played along for a while, seeing how far the Mime would go in copying his moves. When he rose his hand, so did the Mime, when Ethan began jumping on one foot while using his right hand to rub his belly, the Mime went along with it, when Ethan ended up doing a hand stand, Mime Jr. continued to mimic him. It was cute, and funny, "You’re like a mini me, haha," the boy chuckled, "Mime, Mime!"

"I’m sure we will be great friends-" the trainer began to say when suddenly, the trade machine next to him exploded, causing smoke to obscure his line of sight.

*cough* "What the hell!" *cough**cough**cough* the trainer tried breathing despite the smoke causing great discomfort, by using his jacket as a sort of shield.

"Mime! Mime!!" Ethan could hear his Pokémon in distress, "Mime Jr.!" *cough**cough* "Where are you?!" he screamed out.

As Ethan tried to listen for any sort of noise indicating where the Mime Pokémon was, voices of frantic running and cries of other trainers in the vicinity where blocking him from listening for his Pokémon.

But there was another voice, two actually, those of laughter. "Hahaha! Well that was easier than I thought," one voice said, a male perhaps? The trainer thought.

"How did a snot nose kid like this get such a rare Pokémon like this one anyway?" another, this time female.

"No matter, we’ll be taking this cutie and giving it to the boss."

*cough* "Who are you guys?" *cough*

"Like we would ever tell you?"

"Mime!!!"

"Mime Jr…Give me back my Pokémon!"

"Mwahaha as if kid, Mwhaha!"

"You’re not getting away with this! You hear me!" *cough**cough**cough* Ethan began coughing uncontrollably. I need to get out of here, or I’m going to suffocate…if only I had a way to get rid of the smoke…

"Mwahaha, it seems we already have kiddo- Hey wait- What are you doing!?"

"I think it’s using Confusion, I can’t seem to be able to move my body!"

"Look, it’s getting away; the Psychic type just ran outside the door!"

Mime Jr?? Ethan thought, as he continued to cover his mouth trying to get through the wall of smoke, I need to follow her! he closed his eyes, even though he still couldn’t make heads or tails as what straight was…but he pushed through anyway.

Finally outside, the trainer was met with a bright sun and fresh air; he could finally breathe again without having smoke clogging up his lugs. As he looked around for his Pokémon however, he didn't seem to find any trace of her…Was I too late…did they get to you before I could…no, this isn’t the time to think that way…

"Hey what the hell?! Why can’t I get through!" a trainer shouted in distress, banging his hand against the air as if it were some kind of door.

"What’s going on?" Ethan asked the boy who was probably not much older than 10.

"I can’t seem to get through, it doesn't make sense."

"What are you talking about?"

"I was walking when suddenly I got smacked on my face with something hard!"

"Move aside…" Ethan finally said and just like the kid was trying to explain, Ethan couldn't seem to move forward of where the boy stood. "It’s like an invisible wall has been placed here…" the boy inquired.

"Oh what are we going to do?" a women said on the other side, as she was bent over. Her hands in the air as if they were touching a wall. "Rufflet!" her Pokémon said, with a sad whimpering tone of voice as it chirped.

"Excuse me, miss, what’s the matter?" Ethan asked the women.

"I was playing with my Rufflet, when out of nowhere a wall got in between us…now my bird Pokémon is on the other side and I can’t get to him…he even tried flying over but it seemed some kind of Barrier has blocked the top too! I even tried returning him to his ball but…" her voice broke off, before she tried to recompose herself realizing how it might of looked if a stranger saw her begin to cry, "Oh Rufflet! Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out…somehow." She said.

"Out of curiosity…miss, you didn't happen to see a Mime Jr. run off somewhere around here, would you?"

"As a matter a fact, I saw one flee into the forest nearby from here…*sob*…now that you mention it, none of this started happening until it first appeared…"

"You don’t say…thank you for very much!" Ethan responded back before heading toward the forest entrance. When he reached it, Ethan dug into his coat jacket and retrieved within, a purple colored Pokedex Gen I that contained all the knowledge a Pokémon Trainer needed on his travels…opening it he turned it on, as he began scrolling for the Pokémon he wanted to read about, he had Aya (the artificial intelligence he had nicknamed) read the desired text.

"Mime Jr." droned the machine with a hint of a feminine voice, "the Mime Pokémon and the pre-evolution of Mr. Mime. Mime Jr. mimics the expressions and movements of those that it sees in order to understand the feelings of others. It can emit a peculiar force in order to harden the air to create an invisible wall. When frightened, it will use one of those walls to escape."

"So that’s it, you felt the evil intentions of those that tried to kidnap you and now you’re trying to hide…" Ethan said, "I guess I have no other choice but to enter the forest and find you." He declared before securing his gadget back into his pocket and walking inside, not knowing what would be on the other side.

Finally, a rather plain looking Pokeball dropped from the small tube. Waving his thanks to the trainer at the other end of the machine, Evdee could wait no longer, and he quickly dropped the mystery ball onto the tiled floor with a click of the button. Following the typical flash, a small bear cub appeared on the ground. She looked up at her new trainer with eyes that contained a mixture of sadness and distance, as if she hadn't the slightest idea what was going on around her. Then she let out a small shiver, and Evdee couldn't resist anymore.

"Aw, you poor thing. Come here."

Evdee gently hefted the Cubchoo into his arms, coddling the creature like a stuffed bear.

"You're surprisingly warm for being an Ice type, right?"

The cub only shivers in reply, before resting up against Evdee's chest and drifting off into a slumber, her mucusy icicle hanging over the edge of his hold.

"Well, that's ok. You don't have to worry, we'll take care of you... Teddy."

Astral agrees with him, draping her scarf over the bear like a blanket in an act of unusual kindness, and the three of them happily leave the Cable Club together.
