Elijah Smith
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Hometown: Castelia City, Unova

Appearance: Elijah is rather pale-skinned, has dark brown hair and steely blue eyes, and stands at 5'6". He wears a black T-shirt, blue jeans, and black sneakers, and is almost always seen lugging around his green backpack.
Personality: Elijah is usually an upbeat individual who likes to tackle his problems head-on, and if he can't, he'll run away from them unless he's stuck between a rock and a hard place. He tends to act impulsively, even if his decisions might not end well for him. He'll often butt heads with others that are just as, if not more energetic as he is, and will usually gripe whenever authority figures are involved. He's also a bit of a pacifist. He's not a huge fan of catching Pokémon without them outright *wanting* to be caught. He also often tries to avoid fights, even if it's the obvious choice, but he'll put his entire back into it if he's determined enough to battle someone.

On the flip side, Elijah is very unsure of himself and will often wonder if a decision that he made earlier on was the right one to begin with. He often grows attached and clingy to the friends that he makes and will feel devastated if he loses any of them.

Bio: Even though Elijah grew up on the outskirts of the biggest city in Unova, Pokémon training never interested him, having been repeatedly told that it was a fundamentally bad practice by his Plasma-affiliated parents while he was growing up. However, he was forced into the occupation after somehow getting rejected and ignored by every job and university that he applied to—even the ones that were known for their ridiculously low standards, for some reason. With no other choice left to him, he reluctantly set off to Fizzytopia with barely any training knowledge to his name, hoping that his friends made the right call to convince him to try in the first place.

During his first week in Fizzytopia, he encountered many hardships, ranging from trying to tend to a busy park to stopping a submarine poaching operation in its tracks. He's trying to take it in stride but he can't help but feel anxious about it—training is way more dangerous than even he expected, even if it is rewarding. He also regularly contends with a fear that his own past may catch up with him—and if so, he's not sure if he'll be able to recover from it or not.

Pokémon
On Hand

Epoch (it/its; Lv. 15)
Spoiler: show
No. 233 Porygon2
Normal { Normal}
Ability:
Trace

This Pokémon is pretty Serious by nature.
Met as a starter when it was Lv. 5.
Its bond with its trainer is 30.

Contest Stats: [10, 10, 10, 10, 10]

Moves: Tackle, Sharpen, Conversion, Conversion 2, Thunder Shock, Recycle, Psybeam, Thunder Wave, Agility, Magnet Rise, Spark
TMs: Flash
Tutor Moves: Signal Beam, Shock Wave
Egg Moves:
Advanced Moves: Volt Tackle
Shadow Moves: Shadow Panic
Custom Moves: Gummi Bomb, Guardian Terrain, Defensive Shield

Epoch is a Porygon2 that one of Elijah's friends gave to him to help him start his journey as a Trainer, however it was later revealed that they were used by that friend to track Elijah. Despite this, they tend to act like they have a mind of their own sometimes, seemingly defying all common knowledge about the virtual Pokémon, usually found analyzing things that seem important to them. Interestingly, they don't seem to be intelligible by any other Pokémon.

Thorn (she/her; Lv. 21) ♀️
Spoiler: show
No. 753 Fomantis
Grass { Grass}
Ability:
Contrary

This Pokémon is pretty Adamant by nature.
Met in Amity Gardens when it was Lv. 7.
Its bond with its trainer is 8.

Contest Stats: [10, 10, 10, 10, 10]

Moves: Fury Cutter, Leafage, Growth, Razor Leaf, Ingrain, Sweet Scent
TMs: Facade
Tutor Moves: Worry Seed
Egg Moves: Leaf Storm
Advanced Moves:
Shadow Moves:
Custom Moves:

Elijah "accidentally" caught Thorn during his very brief stint as a temporary park ranger. Initially she may look mistrustful, but anyone who proves their mettle to her will find that she's an incredibly loyal Pokémon that will stop at nothing to make sure that those that she cares about are safe. Despite this, she's a very eager fighter and will often find herself battling anything that does as little as look at her funny. One thing that you don't want to tell her is that she can't do something; her inner contrarian will always seek out a way to prove you wrong.

Krabby (he/him; Lv. 25) ♂️
Spoiler: show
No. 98 Krabby
Water { Water}
Ability:
Shell Armor

This Pokémon is pretty Naive by nature.
Met at Cape Effervescence when it was Lv. 25.
Its bond with its trainer is 0.

Contest Stats: [0, 0, 0, 0, 0]

Moves: Leer, Water Gun, Bubble, Mud Sport, Harden, Vise Grip, Metal Claw, Mud Shot, Bubble Beam, Protect, Stomp, Guillotine
TMs: Secret Power
Tutor Moves:
Egg Moves:
Advanced Moves:
Shadow Moves:
Custom Moves:

Krabby is an unfortunate refugee of an offshore poaching operation, his mother having been taken away by unknown assailants. Despite this, his demeanor presumably remains unchanged, often standing by those that have helped him in the past. Somehow, he's rather stealthy as well—he tends to spot secret passageways and alcoves before anyone else can, and will sneak by nearly undetected when the situation demands it.

Ion (they/them; Lv. 8)
Spoiler: show
No. 479 Rotom
Electric/ Ghost { Electric}
Ability:
Levitate

This Pokémon is pretty Quirky by nature.
Met in Fortune's Woods when it was Lv. 8.
Its bond with its trainer is 1.

Contest Stats: [0, 0, 0, 0, 0]

Moves: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Double Team, Confuse Ray, Charge, Trick, Astonish, Discharge, Charge Beam, Uproar
TMs:
Tutor Moves:
Egg Moves:
Advanced Moves:
Shadow Moves:
Custom Moves:

Despite only being caught recently, Ion has quickly been promoted to one of Elijah's right-hand Pokémon alongside Epoch (who is REALLY annoying sometimes), leveraging their access to a Rotom Phone to act as both a liaison for the Trainer's team members as well as a personalized Pokédex. Despite this, the power comes at a cost; Ion will frequently improve others' words because theyre awesome B). Curiously, they seem to be hiding absolutely nothing.

In Reserve
(These Pokémon are planned to debut in my Visionary Glade story, and cannot be used until I'm able to properly introduce them in writing.)

Meowth (Alolan)

Species: Meowth (Alolan)
Type: Dark
Gender/Pronouns: Female (she/her)

Bond: 0
Caught: Hatchery

Contest Stats: [10, 10, 10, 10, 10]

This Pokémon's description has not been written yet.

Sneasel (Hisuian)
Spoiler: show
Ball: Poké Ball (Rustic)
Species: Sneasel (Hisuian)
Type: Fighting/Poison
Gender/Pronouns: Female (she/her)
Level: 5 (evolves when given a Razor Claw during the day)
Bond: 0
Caught: Hatchery
Ability: Keen Eye (becomes Pressure upon evolution)

Moves: Quick Attack (next move learned: Rock Smash at level 6)

Turtwig

Caught: Nature Trails? (Crimson Delta)
Ability: Shell Armor

Contest Stats: [0, 0, 0, 0, 0]

Moves: Tackle (next move learned: Withdraw at level 15)

A newborn Turtwig that Elijah stumbled across during what seemed like an average egg hunt (at least from his perspective). He's not really prepared to raise a Pokémon by himself but at least he has a Pokédex that he can rely on.

Elgyem
Spoiler: show
Ball: Space Ball
Species: Elgyem
Type: Psychic
Gender/Pronouns: Female (she/her)
Level: 1 (evolves at level 42)
Bond: 0
Caught: Hatchery
Ability: Telepathy

Contest Stats: [0, 0, 0, 0, 0]

Moves: Confusion, Growl (next move learned: Imprison at level 6)

Writers' Notes

jump: trainer profilepokémoninventorywriters' notes

Writers' Notes (last updated October 30th, 2022)
A quick reference for all the weird quirks for the characters that I've come up with that might not have made it into their bios. If you have any questions, you're more than welcome to reach out to me for clarification.

Elijah
Spoiler: show
  • Even though he's starting to learn more, Elijah can't recognize very many Pokémon that aren't found in his home region of Unova, outside of those that he's canonically encountered in Fizzytopia.
  • He's not a fan of Pokémon battles (and is obviously trying to cover something up regarding that), but he'll be willing to try a little—just as long as nobody gets too hurt.
  • He's got a bit of a nervous disposition after being thrust into Fizzytopia alone with no recourse. He'll still take risks very occasionally; he believes that he's "gotta do it eventually" sometimes.
  • He tends to have a very negative opinion towards Team Plasma due to their actions during his childhood, in addition to his parents being involved with the organization. He's afraid that the latter will come back to bite him, so he tries to keep it a secret (for this reason, he's just a little less comfortable around psychic types).
  • He doesn't play favorites. Show him a Pokémon that he recognizes and he'll be bound to say at least something positive about them. For this reason, he hasn't opted to maintain a Memakyu as of now.
  • Elijah isn't totally in the business of catching Pokémon due to Plasma influences in his childhood and will often opt out of doing so unless there really isn't any other option or they end up capturing themselves. Most of the time, Pokémon choose him instead of him choosing them.

Epoch
Spoiler: show
  • Nobody can understand them unless they happen to understand computer language as well (e.g. Porygon line, Magnemite line, Beldum line, possibly the Regis, Rotom Phones). Others will only be able to hear erratic beeping.
  • Their evolution into Porygon2 allows them to learn behaviors a little more efficiently. If they are able to see someone perform an action and recognize its outcome as positive, then they'll aim to do that more often. This can either be a good or a bad thing.
  • Epoch's origin is a bit of a mystery, though there are some leads towards the fact. Trying to pry won't really get anything accomplished.
  • Epoch originally came with a program that remotely sent tracking data to one of Elijah's former friends, but that seems to have been removed after their evolution.
  • Epoch can only interface with computers. They can't really do anything to something that doesn't have a processor.

Thorn
Spoiler: show
  • Has a very low tolerance for dealing with things that she doesn't like. If you push her too far then the lawn's going to mow you.
  • She's also not very good at conceding when she's wrong, and will frequently end up doing her own thing anyway just to prove it.
  • She seems to be more of a pessimist than most, but that mostly comes from pragmatism over anything else.

Krabby
Spoiler: show
  • Understandably very traumatized by the loss of his parents. He hopes that they're still out there.
  • He might not be able to walk up walls, but he's pretty crafty and can attempt to sneak pretty much anywhere due to his smaller stature and natural ability to use Secret Power.
  • He's not exactly the most talkative and will attempt to do things without running it by anyone first.

Ion
Spoiler: show
  • Speaks in 2000s slang and "types" in textspeak. They do make concessions if they realize that it's confusing someone else, though.
  • They're a quick thinker and will come up with plans on the spot, though they're always at least a little flawed.
  • They are absolutely enthused at the concept of battling and will practically jump at the opportunity to knock someone out. As long as they aren't a ground type, of course.
  • They can only "possess" gadgets with motors inside of them, or ones that were purposefully built to house a Rotom. Any attempt to enter something else will usually result in something getting fried.
  • They know way more about Pokémon than Elijah and will usually cover anything that might be missing if he's able to consult them.

Turtwig
Spoiler: show
  • Baby. Young and impressionable.
  • Elijah has no idea how to take care of him. Expect a trial by fire if Elijah can't get the support that he needs as someone who can't even take care of himself sometimes.
