Loch Bygone Raid Battle 2: Vs. Runerigus!
Raid Boss Runerigus ★★★★ Health Gauge: 100% Shields Up: 0 Status: None. Raid Challengers Gary (Torterra): 400 HP lilboocorsola (Chikorita): 300 HP Sneaze (Kingdra): 400 HP myahoo (Sableye): 300 HP Missingno. Master (Skiddo): 300 HP Slash (Watchog): 300 HP Median Dia (Clauncher): 300 HP sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat (Goomy): 300 HP Heeding the call to arms, the raiders rush to Loch Bygone and their Dynamaxed opponent, the Dusknoir retreating to a mostly safe distance while keeping an eye on things. As the runic pokemon stares down the gathered trainers, painted grin on its unchanging visage, its single gleaming eye scans the group, sizing the squad up before it gives an unearthly booming laugh. Not one of mocking, but of excitement, before opening its arms wide, inviting the group to give them the first strike as the raiders get the feeling of countless eyes on them, for much further away in the ruined settlement many of the spectral residents had turned out in their droves to watch the spectacle, even as Melissa's Dynamax band takes on an energetic hue. Dynamax Initiative: myahoo, Sableye.

"...and as you can see behind me- Marv, if you wanna focus on them- a small gathering of Trainers has arrived with the intention of taking on this Dynamaxed Runerigus! I'm Diana Macks, and I will be providing live coverage of this battle as it unfolds."
"Alright, let's see Willa kick some more ass," Keith grinned, sitting on the couch, popping Petaya chips into his mouth as he watched the scene unfold on TV before him. Hovering over the seat beside him was one of his Dusknoir. "You've never seen one of these raids in action, have you, Peeves?" "Can't say I've had the pleasure, no," Peeves replied. "Of course, that could've been easily remedied had you brought me to fight in one," he added. "Oh, yeah, good idea," retorted Keith. "Yeah, could've just brought you to the last one I went to, throw you at the gigantic Sharpedo instead. Real solid type matchup." "So, what's Willa using here?" Peeves asked. Keith chuckled at the abrupt and nonchalant change of subject, before speaking up. "Decidueye," he said. "She- wait, wha?" he murmured, peering at the screen. "...OK, either Marv's doing some funky things with the camera-" "-or that ain't Decidueye," Peeves finished. "I guess Skiddo wanted in on the action." "Clearly, yeah," Keith nodded. "This'll be interesting- and honestly, kind of a better matchup against this thing, now that I think about it. Ghost's weak to Ghost, that goes both ways. But Skiddo doesn't have to worry about that. Plus, Willa's saying he's been doing better and better as of late." "Runerigus, huh?" Peeves remarked, his eye on the very large opponent before him. "I hope they can do something about its Ability, or things could get pretty crazy..." ~~~~~ We need to handle its Ability, first and foremost, Willa thought to herself as she looked up at Runerigus. Wandering Spirit could get pretty crazy. We can't risk Runerigus getting a beneficial Ability from one of us. What if that Goomy has Sap Sipper? At least Skiddo has a way to deal with this... Skiddo, meanwhile, stood before Willa, looking up at Runerigus. Even seeing it up close, seeing the sheer size of the spectral slab for himself, Skiddo didn't look afraid. Not that Willa expected him to- Skiddo was never so easily deterred. Willa gestured forward. "Skiddo! Worry Seed!" she commanded. "Baa-aa-aa-aaa!" bleated Skiddo, generating and firing a singular seed at Runerigus. It wouldn't do any damage, but it would shut down any Ability-based craziness before it could start, and considering what Willa knew of its Wandering Spirit Ability, this was surely a very good idea. OOC: Skiddo used Worry Seed (0 BP). Last edited by Missingno. Master; 05-03-2020 at 10:32 PM. Reason: Minor grammatical fix. |

Time to kick this guy's grass
Brr, why do I feel like someone's watching us... Well let's not worry about that now, and focus on getting a GRASSY TERRAIN (0 BP) set up first. (Boosted by Northern Star Bangle)

It was hard not to feel a little vulnerable weaving through the decrepit remains of this town, what with her pure-white attire standing out sharply against the dusty grayish-brown of her surroundings and all. Every spectre that cared could easily spot here and prove to be a massive- if not outright fatal- hindrance. But now bygone spirits weren't the only thing Amicae had to worry about. Did there seriously need to be a dang news helicopter here? The call didn't even imply that this was as big a Raid target as last month's Duradulon was!
Fortunately, it wasn't too hard to locate her quarry. Dynamaxed pokemon tended to be especially obvious from a distance between their massive size and bright red hue, but Ami also had the advantage of knowing what to look for specifically this time. The titanic stone monument bore a pattern similar to the one on the stone her sister's yamask carried, and it's singular violet eye glowed just as sinisterly as one would expect from what was essentially a sapient curse. 'That's what Chroma expects her little one to become? Maybe I should take a few pictures during the Raid...' Seeing as the creature was already unfurling itself with a laugh, it looked like Ami was a little bit late to the start of the battle this time. "Oh well, at least we may be able to catch it by surprise this time. I'm going to toss you out when it looks away for a moment. Do you think you can hit a black part while you're still flying, Kodiac?" The clauncher clicked his large claw in confirmation. "Good, then give'em a Flash Cannon (80 BP)." "Ready, and... Go!" |

Raid Boss Runerigus ★★★★ Health Gauge: 85% Shields Up: 0 Status: Leech Seed, Ability: Insomnia (Worry Seed), Grassy Terrain (4 turns left), Safeguard (4 turns left). Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Safeguard (0 BP) Runerigus is immune to status ailments! Attack 2: Max Phantasm (130 BP) sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat, Goomy: 105 HP Attack 3: Curse (0 BP) Runerigus cuts its own HP and laid a curse upon Kingdra! Raid Challengers Gary (Torterra): 400 HP (Att +1, Sp. Att +1) lilboocorsola (Chikorita): 300 HP (Att +1, Def -1, Sp. Att +1) Sneaze (Kingdra): 300 HP (Sp. Att -2, Cursed) myahoo (Sableye): 300 HP Missingno. Master (Skiddo): 300 HP (Att +1, Def +1 [Grass Pelt active], Sp. Att +1) Slash (Watchog): 300 HP (Def -1) Median Dia (Clauncher): 300 HP (Def -1, Sp. Def +1 (Assault Vest)) sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat (Goomy): 124 HP (Def -1) Facing a dangerous foe, the raiders opt to prepare themselves and begin by assailing the spectre with a variety of status moves. The Worry Seed implants itself into its lower body as the eye narrows slightly, and as another seed sprouts upon it the eye only further narrows in annoyance. Unable to remove the sapping seed amidst the grass that suddenly sprouts from the dried earth, the raid boss opts to halt any further trickery on the behalf of the raiders, throwing up a shimmering ward over itself to thwart any further status effects before driving a forceful Max Phantasm into the Goomy, delivering a vicious blow to the dragon. Irritation reduced, the Runerigus then turns its eyesight directly on the pokemon who has hit it the hardest so far, and with a malevolent hollow cackle emanating from itself proceeds to manifest a ghastly nail the size of a telegraph pole and thrusts it into itself, doing a not insignificant chunk of damage to itself while laying a curse upon the Kingdra, who shudders as the effects of said technique bite away at its life force. Amicae's Dynamax band however begins to take a shine... Dynamax Initiative: Median Dia, Clauncher.

At first, Willa didn't pay much attention to the Watchog, and thus was pleasantly surprised when it made a move that worked in favor of all the Grass-types present. Skiddo bleated in a satisfied way as he felt his offensive power boosted by the Rototiller move. Willa likewise allowed herself a satisfied smirk as Runerigus wasted its time on a Safeguard. Like anyone was gonna try any further status ailments now anyway- the basic idea, as she understood, was now to just attack, attack, attack! The first round of setup was essential- Worry Seed to stop Runerigus's unique Ability before it started. Grassy Terrain to power up the Grass moves. Rototiller to power up the Grass-types. The Kingdra's Draco Meteor as its first move seemed a bit excessive to Willa, but she had a feeling the Trainer had his reasons for making that move.
Yes. Right now, the time had come to go on the offensive, and at the moment, Skiddo hadn't even taken any damage, putting them in a very good position. "Now! Razor Leaf!" Willa commanded the Mount Pokémon. "Baa-aa-aa-aah!" Skiddo bleated in response, sending a barrage of bladelike leaves flying towards Runerigus. ~~~~~ "Ooh," Peeves winced as Runerigus attacked with Curse. "That Kingdra's gonna be feeling that. Wasn't that incredibly stupid, though?" he added. "Runerigus just lopped off half its hit points to do that, didn't it?" "Not necessarily," Keith shook his head. "These kinds of things seem to work differently for Dynamaxed Pokémon. They're not gonna get this victory just handed to them on a silver platter. And knowing Willa, she wouldn't have it any other way," he added with a smile. OOC: Skiddo used Razor Leaf (55 BP; powered up by Grassy Terrain). |

The council has spoken, and they've decided that I shall indeed Dynamax, and lean towards the inclination for murder! Thus, I shall use Max Geyser, with Water Gun (40 BP) as the base!

Raid Boss Runerigus ★★★★ Health Gauge: 70% Shields Up: 3 Status: Leech Seed, Ability: Insomnia (Worry Seed), Sandstorm (4 turns left) Psychic Terrain (4 turns left), Safeguard (3 turns left), Fire Spin (4 turns left). Raid Boss Attack Summary: Attack 1: Max Mindstorm (130 BP) lilboocorsola, Chikorita: 157 HP Attack 2: Sandstorm (0 BP) A sandstorm brewed! Attack 3: Earthquake (100 BP) Sneaze, Kingdra: 150 HP Gary, Torterra: 287 HP sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat, Goomy: 0 HP myahoo, Sableye: 150 HP Post-round Recovery Summary Gary, Torterra: Leech Seed Gary, Torterra: 337 HP Raid Challengers Gary (Torterra): 337 HP (Att +1, Sp. Att +1) lilboocorsola (Chikorita): 138 HP (Att +1, Def -1, Sp. Att +1) Sneaze (Kingdra): 25 HP (Sp. Att -4, Cursed) myahoo (Sableye): 131 HP Missingno. Master (Skiddo): 281 HP (Att +1, Def +1 [Grass Pelt active], Sp. Att +1) Slash (Watchog): 281 HP (Def -1) Median Dia (Clauncher): 481 HP (Def -1) [Dynamaxed: 2 Turns Left] sixdragons_in_atrenchcoat (Goomy): 0 HP (Must sit out 1 round to recover) With both sides of the field having prepared for the battle the raiders are swift to capitalise on their field benefits, assaulting the raid boss with a barrage of botanic ballistics and another gradual chip hazard in Fire Spin, and the Runerigus's eye glows as it erects a number of barriers around itself to thwart further assaults. Just as the first couple fall however, Amicae's Clauncher is promptly dynamaxed, inflating to great size though still dwarfed somewhat by the ghost pokemon, and a mighty geyser blasts away another two layers of shields. The raid boss however has had enough of toying with their opponents and immediately turns it attention straight towards the Chikorita. Summoning incredible psychic power, the starter pokemon is blasted with tremendous force as the verdant grass is dispelled for a strange terrain, before the Runerigus whirls around, summoning a raging sandstorm in the face of the dynamaxed water pokemon before pausing, looking over the healthy raiders, and giving a demonic laugh. Suddenly leaping into the air, it tucks in all its limbs to take its natural slablike form before hurtling into the soil and causing a devastating earthquake that deals significant damage to a number of the raiders, outright knocking the unfortunate Goomy out. As the sand swirls and chips away at the raiders, the Kingdra is once again harangued by its curse, barely holding on, while the whirling flames and sapping seeds take their own toll on the ghost pokemon, discomfort in its visage. Dynamax Initiative: Median Dia, Clauncher (Activated, 2 turns left)

I'm gonna just Max Geyser off of Water Gun (40 BP) real quick, because we'd like the Shields down quickly and the Sandstorm is just a mild inconvenience against a Ground Type.

And the battle raged on. Runerigus wasn't simply allowing their setup efforts to go unpunished, however- a vicious Max Mindstorm struck the Chikorita, and Willa scowled as lush green grass was swiftly replaced by sheer, unadulterated weirdness. Not that Willa minded weirdness in general, but in this specific situation, she'd have greatly preferred the Grassy Terrain. There were so many more benefits to that in this fight. It powered up the Grass moves. It reacted with Skiddo's Grass Pelt to increase his Defense. It slightly healed everyone on the ground, and while this did include Runerigus, that wasn't much of a point against it. It certainly would have helped with the weather, considering Runerigus then proceeded to kick up a Sandstorm- now that was annoying.
Skiddo bleated stubbornly, as well as loudly to be heard over the raging sandstorm. Even through the swirling sands, Willa was able to see the leaves rustling on Skiddo, and not just from the weather- he was about to go for Razor Leaf, she realized. "Skiddo! Wait!" Willa called. "...Baa-aa?" Skiddo bleated questioningly, looking back at his Trainer. Willa shook her head. "Not just yet," she said. "The shields have already been dealt with- with this weather, we need to turn the terrain back in our favor- there's too much potential for Runerigus to mess with us with Psychic Terrain, and we lose too much power." She paused. "I know you want to just jump in and attack," she continued. "I know you want to win. You have to realize, Skiddo- I want to win, too. But if we want to win, we need to do this right, OK?We need to approach the situation with level heads." Approaching situations with a level head... that was not a concept Skiddo was especially fond of. He preferred to just jump right in and get things done. He'd gone along with the Worry Seed earlier, sure enough, but now, in the heat of battle, with things having gone on for a little while now, Skiddo was itching to just attack! That said, though... he knew Willa pretty well by now. He knew he had himself a Trainer he could trust, a Trainer who he could depend upon for solid direction in battle. She knew her stuff, and there was no denying it. Finally, Skiddo gave a reassuring smile. "Baa-aa-aah!" he bleated confidently. Willa gave a small yet definite smile in return. "Then use Grassy Terrain," she said. "Baa-aa-aa-aah!" bleated Skiddo as he reared up on his hind legs. His front hooves glowed green as he slammed them into the ground. A ripple of green energy emanated from the battlefield, starting where Skiddo's hooves landed, followed by the sprouting of lush green grass once more. Willa looked quite confident at this point- Runerigus wasn't gonna get to screw with them so easily, not if she and Skiddo had any say in it. OOC: Skiddo used Grassy Terrain (0 BP).
