lilboocorsola, Carbink: Cheer

Slash, Sylveon: 238 HP

Raid Boss Attack Summary

Attack 1: Shockwave

Sableye cleared all stat changes, and nullified abilities!

Attack 2: Lash Out (150 BP) [CRIT]

Slash, Sylveon: 0 HP

Attack 3: Max Starfall (130 BP) [CRIT]

Missingno. Master, Pangoro: 4 HP

Raid Challengers

Slash, Sylveon: 0 HP (Must wait 1 round to recover)
Gary, Togetic: 400 HP
King Ghidorah, Kangaskhan: 129 HP
Missingno. Master, Pangoro: 4 HP [Dynamaxed, 2 Turns Remaining]
SpinyShell, Kecleon: 150 HP (Protean: Dark)
Emp, Shiinotic: 300 HP (@Life Orb)
lilboocorsola, Carbink: 400 HP (Fully Recovered)
ChrisClark13, Absol: 187 HP

With the subject of its attention down, Sableye turns its toothy grin to the other raiders, though its smirk is soon scrubbed clean from its face as the raiders counterassault, shattering its shields and leaving the raid boss vulnerable. The Shiinotic's amplified blast leaves Sableye reeling, the Hyper Voice adding injury to insult and the incoming Hammer Arm also makes a considerable mark, to the point that the gem eater gets very angry.

With a tremendous shriek, an almighty shockwave erupts forth from the creature, defiant of the taunt and cleansing the boosts the raiders had, as well as the dropped defences of the boss, before it once more lashes out with incredible force, and despite the cheers of Carbink's trainer, it is too little too late as once again one of the fairies is vanquished by a critical strike, Sylveon dropping like a sack of ribboned bricks. The gremlin then turns its attention to its dynamaxed opponent, having grown exceptionally tired of the bear. It points up at the sky with a giggle, and as the dynamaxed Pangoro stares up, his eyes widen at the falling meteorite coming his way, and is left open as the Max Starfall strikes him with nuclear force, a critical strike once again as the battlefield becomes shrouded in pink mist, but as the dust settles the raid boss isn't too surprised to see the Pangoro hanging on by the skin of his teeth, even as his form begins to waver.

Dynamax Initiative: Missingno. Master, Pangoro.

  • Trainers may only list 1 order per round. They are also permitted to using 1 item in lieu of an attack.
  • Dynamax Initiative will select a trainer at random. If a trainer has initiative, they may choose to Dynamax their Pokemon for a duration of 3 turns. Dynamaxed Pokemon may only select a Max Attack of a corresponding type from their registered moveset, or Max Guard in place of status moves.
  • When issuing an attack, please state the attack's unbuffed Base Power (BP).
  • If a hold item or ability’s effect is activated in the present round as a result of the previous round’s damage calculation or the present round’s orders, please state it clearly in your response.
  • Roleplaying your orders is optional, but $250 may be collected for responses of 250 words or greater, and Bond will accumulate only for the trainer’s active Pokemon in battle.
  • You have until Thursday, 12th November to place your order.

A horrifying Eldritch shriek rang through the desiccated lakebed, the Sableye bent on one knee as it raised its shadowy claws to the heavens. Several cries and screams from the depths of the mist screeched back, returning the Sableye’s otherworldly call of wrath and hate. As the gremlin howled, its center gemstone began to glow, turning from ruby red to pale pink to white, the light becoming so intense that Selene had to cover her eyes to prevent herself from being blinded by the glimmering glow. And then, suddenly, the screaming stopped, and with it, the howling from beyond the misty veil. However, before the trainers and their Pokemon could relax or even react, a powerful shockwave pulsed outward from the Sableye’s core jewel. The mist was blown back by the force of the wave, revealing several watery shapes lurking in the fog: a floating pink smear, multiple purple smudges, a few black blurs. It seemed these were the Pokemon responsible for the bone-chilling shrieks, peering through the thick mist with spectral eyes.

Having sufficiently intimidated its foes and vented its rage, the Darkness Pokemon lashed out once more at the other Fairy among their ranks, felling the Sylveon with a critical blow, its ribbons fluttering in the wind as it collapsed. The Sableye then turned to its Dynamaxed rival with a fiendish grin on its face, quite the change from just a few minutes ago. Giggling, it pointed one of its claws skyward, causing the panda to look up in hesitant fear, only to stare straight at the sparkling meteor crashing towards him. The shock at such a sight left the Pangoro vulnerable, the falling star hitting him at a critical weak point, leaving him barely able to stand as the area became more misty, albeit with a pink twist.

Selene bit her lip. Things weren’t going well, from Prism stressed out and scared to the small army of eerie observers hidden just out of eyesight in the mist to their Dynamaxed ally on his last legs. And, worse, it seemed that Prism lacked the arsenal for a heavy hit on the gremlin, something that would certainly up her confidence.

“Unfortunately, Feint Attack is our best here. Hopefully you won’t get blasted by a Dazzling Gleam next round.”

Keith held onto Maribel as the Sableye let loose a powerful shockwave. They both felt the power it emanated, and so did all the Pokémon the Sableye was facing, as well as their Trainers. "That one was powerful," remarked Keith.

"Yeah," nodded Maribel. "So... that means Abilities don't work at the moment, right?" she asked.

Keith nodded back. "Yep," he confirmed. "That's why your mom's not about to try another Max Knuckle- without Pangoro's Scrappy, it won't have any effect on Sableye."

"So what'll she do, then?" Maribel asked, looking on as Willa and Pangoro stood strong, even in the face of a powerful Max Starfall that left the Dynamaxed Pangoro so weakened you could count his remaining hit points on one hand.

"Well, we'll see," Keith stated. "It's hard to say exactly which Max Move she'll go for, since, well, it doesn't matter much- I feel like she'll be waiting to hit the shield, since Max Moves are better against them than ordinary moves, and this would be her last shot at doing so- Pangoro's only getting in one more move before the Dynamaxing wears off," he stated.

"Yeah," nodded Maribel. "I kinda wish she'd gotten to land a Max Move on the Sableye itself- Max Knuckle powers up all your allies, so that could've helped."

"In theory, sweetie," Keith nodded. "But not everyone's using physical moves here- Max Knuckle only boosts Attack, not Special Attack. Overall, I think the way your mother's been doing it has been very helpful."

~~~~~
"Not just yet," Willa instructed Pangoro. She waited, waited as Sableye took hit after hit, including a pair of back-to-back Dazzling Gleams. And then, finally, the Darkness Pokémon erected a mighty barrier before it. "Now!" she declared. "Max Darkness, go!!!"
"GOOOOROOOOOO!!!" thundered Pangoro, launching the powerful Max Move to help break through the shield.
OOC: Pangoro used Max Darkness (130 BP; Base move is Crunch (80 BP)).
Defences down, the raiders seize the oportunity and begin to wail on the Sableye once more, and enough fey blasts of light force the gremlin to erect his second set of shields, rubbing his eyes as the Pangoro and Absol shatter some of the barriers around it, one of said barriers heavily cracked but standing suspiciously strong...
This bodes poorly for one of the raiders as Sableye gives a terrible shriek of rage and swings forth, the barrier exploding into a horde of metallic shards that burst forth and shred into the Togetic, retribution for the Carbink's Dazzling Gleam, for incredible damage! The Sableye then focuses deeply before slamming a massive fist down onto the Carbink, who stomachs yet another forceful blow though is mercifully spared by its frosty shield mitigating some of the impact. The Darkness pokemon then returns to its tried and trusted method of blasting everything with pretty lights, and while the two fairies shrug off the impact for the most part, Shiinotic giving an eerie giggle as it saps more energy through the shield and offsetting nearly all damage taken again, the Absol and Pangoro aren't as lucky, both hanging on by a thread and the bear's dynamaxed status wearing off, leaving the group facing down five barriers and the raid boss clearly holding nothing back now...
Dynamax Initiative: Expired.
The Sableye rubbed its gemstone eyes in frustration as the raiders’ Pokemon continued their assault, breaking shield after shield. Yet, one of the shields was cracked but still standing, though with an odd silver sheen.
CRASH!
With a horrific cracking sound, the bizarre grey shield warped under the pressure of the attacks and shattered as the gremlin let out yet another agonized scream, echoed by the monsters lurking in the mist. But, unlike the other shields, the battlefield wasn’t littered with rainbow light splinters, instead, metallic shards surged towards the Togetic, shredding its wings and causing soft white feathers to rain down on the battlefield.
Satisfied with its vengeance against the floating fae, the Sableye began to concentrate, its contemplative, furrowed brow at odds with the wicked grin spread across its face. One of its fists began to glow with an orange light before it punched the Carbink with a blow so powerful it pushed the jewel into the ground. Only the frosty shield the rabbit carried had prevented it from shattering like glass dropped off a cliff. The gremlin then unleashed yet another Dazzling Gleam, no doubt taking advantage of its spread effect. The two fairies it hit shrugged off the blast of light while the Pangoro and Absol were struggling to stay conscious, the super effective attack leaving them at the brink. Then, the Pangoro began to stumble as small explosions burst around it, eliciting cries of concern amongst the raiders. With a large flash, the panda shrunk down to normal size, its labored breathing audible even from the distance Selene and Prism were at.
While less brutal than some of the previous rounds, it was still a poor position to be in. Several of their allies had rather low energy, evident in the wounds on their bodies and their slumped postures, and they no longer had the benefit of Dynamax on their side. At the very least Prism came away from the round unscathed, though Selene assumed that was because the Kecleon wasn’t much of a threat, what with the weak Feint Attack being her best attack in this scenario. Sighing, she turned to the chameleon.
“We have no better option unfortunately. Feint Attack, again please.”
Keith and Maribel winced as they saw some of Sableye's attacks this time around. "Ooh, Metal Burst, that's gotta hurt," Keith whispered. "I still remember that one Cinderace that used Counter on Norbert right after he unleashed Acid Downpour. With Poison Jab as the base move."
"Oh, wow," murmured Maribel. She tilted her head as she saw Sableye's next attack. "Isn't that Focus Punch?" she asked her father. "I thought if you're attacked while charging Focus Punch, the charging gets disrupted?"
"Normally, yeah, but for Dynamaxed Pokémon like these, the usual rules for that move don't seem to apply," Keith stated. "Basically, when Focus Punch's charging is disrupted, it's because the user is made to flinch... which Dynamaxed Pokémon are immune to. It's a different type of flinching than what you get from moves like Headbutt, and it won't activate an Ability like Steadfast, but, well, that's the best guess I got," he admitted.
"It does make sense, though," nodded Maribel.
And the third move, even Willa winced at that one, for Pangoro was among those targeted by it. A Dazzling Gleam, and judging by Pangoro's pained roar, a critical hit to boot. In spite of that, however, Pangoro stayed standing, and the Daunting Pokémon, knowing exactly who to thank for that, flashed a grateful grin to the Sylveon's Trainer.
"We're still good to go, right?" Willa said to her Pokémon.
"Pan! Pangorooooo!" bellowed Pangoro in response.
Willa nodded. "Your Ability should be back in action by now, too. So use Hammer Arm!" she commanded.
OOC: Pangoro used Hammer Arm (100 BP; user has Scrappy).
With the follow-up assault and pokemon starting to hurt, Togetic sprays an orb of water around that patches up some of the lesser injured pokemon unfortunately, but it isn't in vain as the raiders shatter the last of Sableye's fortifications, and a Hyper Voice from the Eeveelution and Hammer Arm from the still standing Pangoro put to bed any immediate counteroffences.
Sableye at this point has grown utterly tired of the charade, and turns to the mushroom with menace. That leech seed can't be removed, but the raid boss sure as hell will ensure it doesn't get any further benefit from it. Clenching his fist, the massive gremlin throws forth an immense incendiary missile that scorches the Shiinotic for hefty damage, before the boss stamps down and practically skewers the loudmouth Eeveelution with a devastating critical Steelspike, bolstering his defence in the meantime. With several raiders hanging on by a thread, the boss then gives a fiendish grin and bathes the squad in helfrost, the Icy Wind cold enough to freeze berries and battlers alike, and the heavily wounded fairies can't hold on and collapse in pain, while Kecleon begins to shiver under the widespread ice move and Carbink once again finds itself victimised, subconsciously wondering what it did to deserve the constant harassment from the dark type. Sableye is starting to ache though, and with the sun beating down, it stares at the raiders, seemingly daring them to try their luck as it schemes.
Dynamax Initiative: Expired.
Grinning maniacally, the Sableye’s gemstones turned an icy shade of blue before the gremlin unleashed a bone-chilling wind out over the raiders. Prism let out a cry of pain as the frigid gust blew over her, stinging all the more due to her reptilian nature. The cold-blooded chameleon shivered as she dusted ice crystals off her scales, wishing she knew a Fire type move or two. Though, as she curled into a shivering ball in an attempt to warm up in the harsh sunlight, she noticed that she had come out of the attack rather fortunately, two of the Icy Wind’s other victims lying unconscious, half-frozen despite the heat.
Content with the damage it had done, the Sableye pulled back as it rested its weary limbs under the burning sun, taunting the raiders with a fiendish grin. Daring them to try something risky.
Selene seemed to also take the dare, debating having Prism use Ancient Power; not only would the move possibly give the Kecleon a power boost, it would spare her from the worst of the Dazzling Gleams the Sableye liked to use. But, having observed the unfortunate Togetic get torn and cut by a Metal Burst last round--its soft downy feathers were still visible on the battlefield--and the Syvleon speared from below by massive metal spikes had made her worry. Perhaps staying with Feint Attack wasn’t the best option, but the destructive Steel attacks had made an impact on Selene. As much as she was frustrated by the Kecleon, watching her get hit with cold hard steel made the scientist’s stomach churn. At least Dazzling Gleam looked less painful.
“Once more. Feint Attack now, Prism.”
More Feint Attack spam because I'm wary of Ancient Powering right into a particularly painful Metal Burst.
"Hm," Maribel murmured as she observed Sableye's latest onslaught. "Dad... Taunt should've worn off by now, right?"
"I'd say so, yeah," Keith nodded. "And yet..."
"...and yet Sableye's still using pretty much just attacking moves anyway," Maribel finished. "I wonder... does it actually have Prankster?"
Keith turned to his daughter. "...that's a good question," he admitted. "I... I mean, when there was that Wigglytuff, everyone expected it to have Competitive, right up until we saw it had Cute Charm. I feel like if that thing had Prankster, we'd be seeing more status moves out of it. But the only one we saw so far is Snatch, which goes first anyway, and wouldn't actually be affected by the whole Dark-type thing... Yeah, you're right, it could have a different Ability, and if it does, than its status moves-"
"-could work on Mom's Pangoro," said Maribel. "Do you think she should try using Taunt again?"
"Hm... I don't think so," Keith admitted. "I don't really see Sableye doing too much to stop them at this point beyond knocking out enough Pokémon- and it's getting there," he added, for as he spoke, Sableye had unleashed a chilling Icy Wind, knocking out a Shiinotic and Sylveon simultaneously. "But I know your mom, sweetie- this is surely occurring to her as well."
No... Taunt would likely do more harm than good at this juncture, Willa thought to herself. The biggest threat lies in Sableye knocking out too many Pokémon, not in whatever its status moves can do to us. I would only be making things worse if I tried that. Besides... I'm starting to question whether it actually even has Prankster.
"Gorrrroooo," growled Pangoro, glaring up at Sableye as he awaited orders.
Willa gave a small smile. She would leave Pangoro waiting no longer. "Keep it going! Hammer Arm!" she commanded.
OOC: Pangoro used Hammer Arm (100 BP; user has Scrappy).
