Two Scoops?? FIVE scoops?????
If Talon can get a team around Diancie I want one around my favorite pokemon too!
I'm not much of a battler; really all I want is to use Alakazam in competitive. I'm perfectly fine with using Megakazam, although I think at the moment all Megakazam offers is to sacrifice a few ticks of damage and the incredibly powerful Magic Guard ability for 20 points of vroom vroom. Which could be good for revenge killing, I suppose, which Smogon insists is the point of Megakazam. Not sure how to build a team around a single guy but I guess I could just slap on some meta picks like Dragonite and Klefki? Most of my teambuilding experience revolves around "pick stuff that looks cool and that isn't absolute garbage when used as a set of 6" so I will probably need a lot of help

Well the firs tthing is picking between Meagzam and Alakazam lol. Megazam gets trace for some fun tricks but for the most part is about the same as Regular zam, barring that fact that it takes rocks damage and can't use a sash. Regular Zam can run LOrb for almost the same amount of power as Mega zam and saves a mega slot, or sash so it doesn't instantly die to a lot of things.
Things Zam wants as teammates are dark deterrents, especially Tyranitar and Weavile, and then also something for bulky steels + Scizor. Slapping on meta picks that fill these rolls is a good start, as opposed to just random Pokemon because that's not how to build a team

For your dark deterrent, I suggest a member of Blue Squad 2.0!
Slicer: Bisharp@Focus Sash Adamant Nature 252+ Atk/252 Spd/4 HP (or whatever it actually is don't have it in front of me) Defiant Ability Swords Dance Sucker Punch Iron Head Brick Break Once this fucker has an SD set up it it gets a defiant boost from the likes of Lando-T or Salamence, this Sucker (Puncher) can start wrecking face. Definitely a good idea to throw down when Sticky Web is about because lol free Defiant. Not only resists dark, but makes it regret it's sins with Brick Break. Furthermore, even a Mega Slowbro isn't gonna like that Sucker Punch, so it also counters sonething aiming to stall Zam in the first place (and otherwise succeeding.)

Preliminary team is Megakazam | Heatran | Ferrothorn | Scizor | Slowbro | Rotom-W
Having the double Waters and the triple Steels is good, but I'm finding a general lack of kill pressure from everyone except Heatran. Ferrothorn may have to go, even though its hazard support was pretty essential. I feel forced to run Scizor just for clearing out some threats like entry hazards and bulky guys, but he's working well. Really not liking the fact that I'm running normal Scizor for a job that MScizor really should be doing, though. @roto: I'm leaning towards Megazam right now but if the lack of Magic Guard becomes a serious problem I'll switch to normal Zam. Both are fun. @Heather: Liking the idea. Bisharp was one of my favorites from Gen V. My only concern is that it is kind of slow and fragile, but I'll try using it more sparingly instead of just throwing it out against things it resists. Mega Slowbro likes a Shadow Ball just as much as it likes a +2 Sucker Punch. I don't think it's going to be a problem for my team. @RMG10: I think this is too slow, although I like the idea of the Psychic/Dark/Fighting core. I looked at the list of Fighting types and nothing stuck out at me...I hear Terrakion is good. From my reading I hear that Zam likes entry hazard support when performing a sweep. So I brought in Ferrothorn. Having him and Scizor on the same team is a little bit counteracted by a beastly Heatran sweep plus a Slowbro to absorb those hits if Heatran isn't available to eat them.

Yeah perhaps I overestimated the value ofBisharp against Slowbro due to the match I had last night (see "how to induce ragequit" in the comp thread) where it was the only reason I didn't get swept by a MSlowbro with six Calm Minds.
