Sandaa: Oranguru listens intently to Lynxa's reply. For a long while he remains silent, staring not at the Sneasel, but at the dream catcher, his expression unreadable. Has he fallen asleep?

After a while, the dream catcher becomes enveloped in a violet glow once more, and begins floating and spinning slowly above the ground. Oranguru's eyes have not left the trinket, as he examines each of his components and finally begins to speak.

"The answer of a child. The mentality of a child..." he mumbles, his tone barely above a whisper. "WOuld this power make you wiser, or more dangerous?..."

Gary's trio watches as the dream catcher begins to dismantle in mid-air, under the intense psychic power of the old ape.

"Perhaps giving back to Pokemon what belonged to Pokemon is the right thing to do. Assembled, this is no more than a representation of human cruelty. But each of its parts belonged to us..." Oranguru stares at each of the three adventurers, his mind seemingly made up. "I appreciate your honesty, Sneasel. And for better or worse, you will outlive me any way - I have no right to take this with me to the grave."

The 1x Poison Barb, 1x Grip Claw, 1x Razor Claw and 1x Dusk Stone land in front of Gary's trio, the dream catcher broken apart completely.

"Take then. And let no human ever take them away again, unless they ave your trust. These are instruments of our power, not trophies," he concludes. "I would very much like to meet you again in the future, if Arceus would permit me to live that ling, and see what you have down with this power. But now you must leave. The fate of this Forest, along with the rest of Incognito Isle, is most uncertain."

With that, the Oranguru bows, before retreating back into the tree. The team can't help but wonder if they'll cross paths with the ape again - brief as their encounter was, the three get the distinct feeling there is much they could learn from the aging ape...

((Adventure concluded! It wasn't ideal and we had very little time to make this something special, but hey, in this case, the end justified the means! :P))

If anything, Tyrantrum feels glad that Momo has loyal, more level-headed companions to keep him safe...

"I sincerely pity the two of you," says the dragon with a deep sigh. "But you have proven yourselves. Bravery and empathy... Pokemon with such qualities deserve better than to serve as a meal. Inside is the treasure I have amassed over generations; I doubt most trinkets would be of use to you, but take back to your Trainer whatever you feel she would like."

Once Mio and Kei have stepped inside, Tyrantrum's massive tails falls and blocks Momo's path.

"Not you. You don't deserve to lay eyes on my life's work," he growls ominously. "You will wait here for the friends you're lucky to have."

As it turns out, despite Mio's reserve, Tyrantrum hasn't lied to them; this isn't a trap. The second cave, despite being much smaller in size than the Ancient's lair, is absolutely full of loot! But the dragon was right - most of the items found within are of little use today. Old metal coins from past eras, golden plates and chalices, stone sculptures from lost ages...

Thankfully, some trinkets do seem to hold some use. Mio spots a glimmering object amidst a heap of copper coins, and retrieves it to reveal a rainbow-coloured 1x Heart Scale. After a while, Kei calls out to his partner, sounding very excited! Mio turns around to find the Charmander holding two beautiful rocks of intense colour, a bright yellow 1x Thunder Stone and a lovely blue 1x Ice Stone!

Deciding that was about all they could take of use, the duo prepares to walk back out, until Mio spots what could potentially be the solution for all their problems - at least concerning Momo's constant complaining. Without a word, she climbs up a broken statue and retrieves a peculiar rock hovering just above where the sculpture's head should be - the 1x Float Stone could very well be the answer for the Sylveon's walking... "impairment".

When the pair walks back out of the cave, the Ancient looks at what they brought with curiosity and a strangely warm smile.

"Out of all that I own, the treasures collected for centuries... four simple items are all you'll take?" he asks with surprise. "Very well. Then take this as well, a memento of our meeting."

The dragon breaks off the tip of one of his claws and hands it to Kei, who instincively steps back before accepting the 1x Quick Claw.

"Your Trainer has taught you some important values, though you still have much to learn. I was... pleasantly surprised to meet you, " Tyrantrum admits. "You reminded me that the world out there, beyond this chasm, is full of things worth preserving, such as the bond you share with your human... Go back to her, she must be growing worried. My Mandibuzz will escort you out in safety."

Before the trio leaves the cave, the Ancient speaks for the last time.

"I am glad to have met you. But now, it's time I rest. Please, tell nobody else of my existence... I, as well as this whole Isle, need a long rest."

((This concludes your II adventure! Hope you enjoyed it Patches! ^^))
For a split second, Momo was shocked that he was being blocked from entering the cave but the shock wore off almost instantaneously once he realized that meant less work for him. “Well, it can’t be helped.” Momo shrugs and lays down, feeling relieved. He was still concerned about what Mio had said earlier but upon learning that the cave wasn’t actually an exit, Momo didn’t really want to have to walk all the way in there anyway.

Meanwhile, inside the cave, Kei’s eyes are sparkling as he looks at all the treasure before him. “Oh, this is all so gorgeous! I’m going to be able to find such wonderful gifts to give to all of my friends in order to show them how much I care about them!” Mio is also impressed with the amount of treasure that is filling the cave but knows that they shouldn’t be too greedy. “Yeah Kei, you can search for presents but don’t go overboard. Only take two things and no more.” After telling Kei his limit, Mio scans the piles of treasure and a glistening rainbow object catches her eye. “And Kei, don’t worry about finding something for Patches, I’m pretty sure I’ve got her covered.” Mio runs up to the object, knowing that Patches loves colorful things and carefully grabs it. At the same time, Kei had spotted the perfect gift for Mio as well as another gift that he would save for someone else for later. “Mio!! I found the perfect gift and I can’t wait to give it to you so I want to give it to you now!” He tucks the Ice Stone under one arm and runs up to Mio, holding the Thunder Stone out in front of him.

Mio casually turns around at the sound of Kei’s cheerful voice and is met with a Thunder Stone in Kei’s hand as he is quickly closing the distance between her and it. “AH!” Mio drops the Heart Scale and rolls backwards at lightning speed and just barely dodges the stone that Kei was thrusting in her direction. “Kei be careful!!!” She clutches her heart and cautiously approaches the Heart Scale and grabs it again, being careful to avoid the stone in Kei’s hand. “Y-you don’t like it…?” Kei’s eyes are slowly starting to fill up with tears. He wasn’t expecting such a harsh rejection, especially from Mio. “No it’s not that I don’t like it it’s just that…” Mio pauses for a moment to carefully think over her words as she sees Kei’s tears growing worse. “It’s just that it’s such a nice gift that I worry that I may drop it while we’re still in this place. You’re much better at taking care of things like that than I am so how about you hold onto it for me? And then when we get to Patches we can have her hold onto it, I just want the gift you got me to be taken care of.” Mio was practically breaking out into a nervous sweat as she gave Kei her reasoning, hoping that he won’t do another surprise attack on her with it. It’s not that she’s against evolving, it’s just that Momo’s change is going to shock Patches enough, they don’t need to go home with two of them looking completely different. Kei’s tears dried right up after hearing Mio’s explanation and he smiled wide. “It makes my heart happy to know that you care so much about your gift Mio. Of course I’ll carry it for you.”

Relieved, Mio begins to lead the way out of the cave. “Hey Mio, what about Momo? We didn’t get him a gift.” Kei is considerate as usual. “He doesn’t need–” Mio was about to protest getting him anything but suddenly she spots something that makes her reconsider. “You know what… I hate making him happy but I think this time I’ll make an exception because maybe I’ll benefit from this too if I don’t have to hear him complain…” She runs up to the Floating Stone and grabs it, she had spoken so softly that Kei didn’t hear her apprehension. Once they make their way back outside, they are greeted by the Ancient once again. Before they can even say anything in response, the Ancient is handing Kei one of his claws. Kei is a bit scared but also finds it really sweet that the Ancient was giving him a gift of his very own and he wasn’t about to turn it down.

Now with his hands completely full, Kei was ready to go but needed to say something to the Ancient first. “T-thank you so much for this wonderful gift! I will keep it forever! Despite how scary you seem, I will always treasure the precious memories you have given me!” Kei is feeling a sadness in his heart that he can’t really understand. The final words that the Ancient left them with seem to have a deeper meaning, it’s almost as if, in his heart, he knows that he is never going to see not only the Ancient but the entire isle ever again. Mio feels it too, but she isn’t very saddened by it. This entire day has been just one stressful thing after the other. Before the Mandibuzz pick them up, Mio began to approach Momo, preparing to hand him the Float Stone she had picked up earlier but just before she hands it over, Momo speaks. “You guys took way too long in there. My ribbon’s got all dirty again and after I had just cleaned them too. Mio, you and Kei should carry me as an apology.” Mio instantly pulls back, keeping the stone for herself. “You will never change. You can lay in the dirt for all I care.” And before Momo could retort, the three of them were whisked away by the group of Mandibuzz. Both Mio and Kei felt an odd sense of foreboding as they were taken away from the island, they both knew in their hearts that they really may never be able to go back. Momo on the other hand, was just relieved that he was finally being carried.

The three Pokemon stood there and waited as the Oranguru seemed to go into a meditative state, wondering if they should just grab the treasure and run. However, after deliberating for a moment, the Oranguru finally came to a decision. He decided that such a treasure with a negative history should not be kept around and split it back up into its individual parts, opting to return the items that were stolen from Pokemon back to Pokemon and wished that these youngsters would do the right thing with them.

Lynxa bristled at being referred to as a child, but she was in fact in her teenage years and no adolescent liked being called that. Akame and Ikki smiled as they claimed some of the items from Oranguru and began to examine them carefully. Akame fiddled around with the Poison Barb, none too worried about anything seeping out and touching her metallic body. She then picked up the Dusk Stone and held it out in front of Ikki’s face, causing the Murkrow to recoil. There was something very peculiar about the stone to him, filling him with a strange sense of dread that he did not want to go near.

The only thing that Lynxa was interested in was the Razor Claw; the item that drew her to the dreamcatcher in the first place. She held it in her hands, a bit taken in my its presence before the Oranguru then told the three Pokemon it was time to leave. “You don’t need to tell us twice. See you later, old man.” Lynxa responded defiantly as she picked up the Grip Claw as well and turned back up the trail. The other two Pokemon followed suit, Akame briefly giving the Oranguru a friendly bow as thanks before catching up with her companions.

Claiming the following items:
1x Poison Barb
1x Grip Claw
1x Dusk Stone
1x Razor Claw (Equipping to Lynxa)

Maskerade: Kami, as usual, was sarcastic and cruel as ever. It took Sai some effort not to deal some damage, and if Kyuki wasn't busy feeling down then they might have had the same temptations. The three pressed onwards towards the summit, and as they went on, what they saw would surely haunt the fox forevermore.

There were more 'statues' - remnants of frozen Pokemon that they weren't able to break. Dead trees sparkled with frost, lines of icicles protruding dangerously here and there. The mountain was truly being plagued by whatever Pokemon was roaming through the hail, and no matter what they tried to do, they would not be able to free any of these creatures. Kami at least was sure there was some kind of cure, although it escaped him as to what. Without facing the true enemy itself it was impossible to know what that cure might be.

They eventually made it to the top of the mountain. It was impossible to tell how long it took, the sky in a constant blue-grey from the ongoing storm. What awaited the three there was no goddess and thankfully no more of the deceased. Instead it was what called the poor Vulpix: an Ice Stone buried under clumps of snow and what looked to be four black apricorns. Perhaps they had belonged to something or someone once.

The Pokemon might never know.

((I'm so sorry I picked you up and let you down. Rereading this reply really got me into the mood to finish this, but as we both know there's no time. Please enjoy your prizes for your patience and for what you did so far. Kami needs a good slap. Thanks for playing!))

If she had to return to Tate with news that Niho had been hurt, there was no telling what her trainer's reaction would be. Sure Niho was a Water type, but if the water was hot enough the Totodile would surely boil? There was no time to think about it, she just had to get back there and get her out.

Much to Pouli's surprise, Makamae was waiting for her when she arrived. The Dunsparce had disappeared some time ago, her help would certainly be appreciated. Barking orders, the pair begin to tear away at the rocks, slowly but surely clearing them. Suddenly the rocks begin to shake, causing the two to move back and give them some distance. A bunch of the rocks crack and tumble away as water floods out, washing over them as it disperses. As they shake themselves dry, a figure makes its way through the cleared passage.

"Niho?" Pouli questions as the now Croconaw makes its way towards them. Niho had grown quite a bit in her absence it seemed, although it explained why she was now strong enough to break through the rocks.

"About time you came back for me", snaps Niho, "you're lucky I evolved!" Looking around the debris, Niho finds a couple of useful items. She picks up a rainbow coloured Heart Scale, as well as a Damp Rock and what appears to be a Bell made of Shells. "Looks like we got some loot Pouli, do you think Tate will be happy with us?"

Pouli was relieved to see Makamae; in all of the confusion she had briefly forgotten all about the Dunsparce. Makamae had not forgotten about them, however, and had grown concerned enough when they hadn't returned within a reasonable time frame to brave the sun looking for them.

Of course, neither of them really expected to see Niho; not like this, anyway. When the rocks burst lose, Pouli yelped at the onslaught of water and Makamae nearly got washed away, her stubby, limbless body saved by a jutting tree root that snagged her squat frame. Both looked on in horror as something markedly larger and more rotund than Niho waddled out of the debris. Makamae was certain the creature had eaten Niho and was coming for them next, but Pouli, a bit more experienced, recognized the Croconaw as being, well, a Croconaw -- the evolved form of Totodile.

"Niho?" Pouli questioned, the Water Stone falling out of her slack jaw. Niho brushed bits of debris off her scales, scowling.

"Took you long enough!" She complained. She was an adept swimmer and a Water-type, but she was also markedly not a fish and needed to breath air. She had begun to fear that she'd grow weary and drown, right up until the point her body flooded with energy and she doubled in size. That had been a weird sensation. "You're lucky I evolved!"

"Yeah," Pouli murmured, a little dumbstruck, As Niho grew distracted by something glittery in the mud. Slowly decompressing, Pouli watched the young Croconaw grow engrossed in sifting through the silt, slowly filling her stubby arms with trinkets, including the dropped Water Stone.

"Check it out," she enthused, presenting the objects to Pouli. "Looks like we got some loot, Pouli, do you think Tate will be happy with us?"

"Yeah," Pouli affirmed, tired but sincere. "Let's go home, okay?"

The sun was setting by the time the trio made it back to the docks. Crusted in drying mud, all three looked a mess, but Tate greeted them happily.

"Niho, look at you!" The trainer enthused, looking upon the newly evolved Croconaw with pleasant surprise. Crouching down, the Johtonian pulled the chubby reptile into a tight hug. "You got bigger. And cuter. I didn't think that was possible!"

Heavy jaws open in a toothy grin, thrilled with the schmaltzy affection, Niho dumped their haul into her trainers lap. Tate laughed.

"You brought me souvenirs?" Chuckled the trainer. Reaching out to pet Makamae's round head, the Dunsparce barely aflight, her stubby wings permitting her fat body to clear the ground but little else, Tate sighed. "How about a bath, guys?"

Makamae looked thrilled, right until Niho blasted her with a Water Gun in an ill-conceived attempt to help. As the Dunsparce went skidding across the dock, Niho chasing after her in remorseful concern, Tate fixed a bespectacled gaze on the exhausted Houndoom.

"It looks like y'all had an eventful day," Tate observed, scratching at the hound's neck. "You did a great job keeping an eye on everyone."

More grateful for the praise than she could ever hope to articulate to her trainer, Poulicl slumped forward ilahainst her trainer's chest, huffing a sigh of relief.

At first there is no sign of the beast, until Momo, exhausted as he is, manages to find a trail of bones leading further into the ship. The beast was wounded and seemed to be slowly deteriorating, perhaps they had already done enough?

The trio are shocked to find the last of the bones piled in front of a locked door. The battered bones no longer move, whatever spirits possessed them were no longer present. Shuffling through the bones, Jinbe gives the door a solid thump, the rusted lock gives way easily and the door swings open. A horde of spirits gather around something in the middle of the room, however they quickly spin around to confront the intruders. They weren't spirits though, no they were Ghost Pokemon. Two Frillish, a trio of Gastly, a pair of Haunter and a Dhelmise all stood around what appeared to be a chest. The Dhelmise floats forward, the giant anchor almost touches the ceiling.

"We cannot thank you enough", groans the Sea Creeper Pokemon, anchor gently swinging back and forth. "Our spirits were trapped due to the traumatic experience and betrayal we endured, but thanks to you we were able to work through the pain and finally find a measure of piece." The rest of the ghostly crew nods in confirmation. "You see most captains go down with their ships, but instead our captain left us behind, securing his own safety instead. Twisted and tormented, our souls possessed our remains and created the beast you fought and bested. Since our demise we have coveted this treasure but as a thank you we would like to share some of it with you three." The Dhlemise motions to the chest, ordering the two Haunter to open it. The pair of Frillish collect a handful of items which they present to you.

The first Frillish floats over to Sucy and presents her with a dark purple stone, a Dusk Stone. It then drifts over and hands Jinbe an Blue Flute. The second approaches Momonga, presenting a small rainbow coloured Heart Scale to him. Feeling they have shared enough of their treasure, the Haunter close the chest and the Dhelmise wishes the trio farewell. "We will be forever grateful, but now it is time for you to leave."
Sucy chuckled under her breath and smirked. "But what if we don't want to leave? OW!"

The Spheal quickly reacted to her snide remark, blasting the ghost-type with a hail of ice. "SUCY, ARE YOU SERIOUS? Are you serious, after what they just gave us?"

A weakened Momo joined in sheepishly, draping the cloth around his back. "Not to mention the Dusk Stone that will probably come in handy for you at some point... Hey, wait, why am i red now?"

Sucy brushed off the remark and puffed her cheeks poutingly. "I mean, I guess it is pretty..."

Jinbe sighed and lifted up the flute and scale onto his back, over his crown of icicles. "Thank you. We're glad we could help you, and even more grateful that you could help us. Believe me, we really our grateful. I'm sure you all would like some peace now that you've been released from your prison, so we'll be on our way."

The trio bowed and turned to leave the ship, their adventure in the Fjord having come to a close... for now.

"But wait, why am I red!?"

A timer has been set by the fading Shiftry, an ominous announcement of disaster to come. Kamaitachi, the Razor Wind, is said by some to be a weapon of the gods, a divine invisible blade of wind that strikes without mercy – and the Grass-Type has just summoned it.

The choice presented to the three is whether they will prepare to endure the hit, or try to finish the fight before it ever comes. It seems, however, that the team chooses to do a little bit of both – rather than go all-out an try to wipe out what remains of Shiftry’s vitality, they split efforts into attacking and defending. Perhaps that is not the wisest…

Commanding the troops, Spiritus instructs Tengu to defend as best as he can, Hardening his shell as much as possible to hopefully endure the oncoming hit. It then falls on Cerno to provide the offense and, perhaps realizing better than anyone else the true importance of disposing of the enemy before it’s too late, the Whimsicott puts every last ounce of strength he has into summoning a powerful Fairy Wind. The wind picks up progressively, gaining power until it becomes a gale of silver powder that burns shiftry on contact, the light particles striking the Dark tree over and over again – but are they enough to topple the Lord on their own, with absolutely no attack from the other companions to follow up?

When the Fairy Wind dies down, Shiftry remains standing, eyes glazed over but not yet fallen, and just as promised, the Razor Wind comes, blowing in opposite direction. A gigantic wind edge falls from the sky, and that’s when Spiritus attempts to protect his partner by… Minimizing it? It seems to have slipped the Litwick’s mind that only he can shrink in size, and not transfer that property to another Pokemon. And as a result of that miscalculation, he has to watch as Razor Wind cuts mercilessly through Cerno, who falls to the ground incapacitated, and then through Tengu, who is left barely clinging on to a shred of consciousness when it’s all done.

But finally, mercifully, the Lord faints soon thereafter, exhausted by pain and energy spent, collapsing like a dead tree in the middle of the clearing. Despite the risks they took, and despite Cerno fainting before the end, the team has ultimately been successful!

The Oranguru stands up and orders the Passimian around the arena to settle down, then helps the Shiftry to his feet before addressing he Litwick, Whimsicott and Seedot.

“You were brave, even if you still have much to learn. We were… entertained. Those two boxes are yours; one gift from me, and one from Shiftry. Take them, and you have our permission to leave whenever you wish. We are glad to have met you, little Pokemon full of heart.”

Spiritus opens Oranguru’s small box, finding 1x Heart Scale inside, whereas Tengu opens Shiftry’s box and retrieves the precious Leaf Stone it contains.

And with that, their adventure is over, the first time they have ever journeyed the world without company of their human Trainer. Hopefully, in doing so, they learned the importance of teamwork and the miracles it can achieve.

*Cerno gained 2 Levels!*
*Tengu gained 2 Levels!*

((Thanks for playing, hope you enjoyed your time in II! As a parting word of advice, don’t forget to look up what each attack does before ordering them – even in an RP context, sometimes it’s just not possible for the updater to overlook some mechanics; in this particular case, Minimize is an attack that only the user can pull off, and not force something else to shrink.
