My Spoink Piggy Bank is starting to run a little low too after all those trades. Need to start scrimping and saving. ^^; (Whoops @ buying DOUBLE TEAM by accident though when my Snorunt already knew it through Level-Up. XD I had even decided not to purchase ICY WIND for that very reason.)

EDIT: Have to rush to Japanese class now, but once I get back I'm writing Shuppet Club's update and then Cascadia will have a whole new batch of updates!

Treep, I ALWAYS predict Male Bidoof for Normal Eggs. Besides no one has a Bibarel yet in the history of FB.

Also I'd totally take him from ya if I had more than enough space if it ends up being one.

[speculation]

Some Pokémon, the odds of encountering them are set very low because they're too popular for their own good. Other Pokémon, the odds of encountering them are set very low because the staff have a heart and don't want to screw people over by giving them an egg hatch which is The Worst Pokémon Ever®.

Guess which camp Bidoof falls into.

Also, in Bidoof's case the odds are further complicated by factors like:
  • Normal Pound Eggs: there are just so many Normal-types in the games that this further reduces the odds of hatching a Bidoof
  • Generation gap: a lot of Gen 4 and Gen 5 Pokémon still haven't shown up in FB because of (so I'm led to understand) a great lull in activity circa 2008 - 2011. That's why so many records are being smashed now in 2012 by you guys, the newest generation of members: because there wasn't much activity during the Gen 4 era or at the dawn of the Gen 5 era
  • What people choose to hatch: so not only is Bidoof hard to come by because of how many Normal-types there can be which hatch from Normal Pound Eggs, but he's also hard to come by because so few people choose to hatch Normal Pound Eggs. Most newbies aim for either:
    • Fire / Grass / Water eggs (hellooooooooooo~ starters!)
    • Dream Team eggs in descending order of likeliness to hatch the target
So say somebody actually wants Bidoof on their dream team. But say they also want Shuppet, Pikachu, and Oddish. They're best off saving Bidoof for last because statistically they're going to have an easier time of hatching the other three (first Shuppet, then Oddish, finally Pikachu) than hatching Bidoof. The end result is that typically only veterans or else people who reaaaaaaaaaally want a particular Normal-type bother with hatching Normal Pound Eggs in the first place.

[/speculation]

I dunno what's the coin/candy exchange rate, but fair enough, I'll get all that for you whenever I come back home (Darn workplace blocking my homeboard...) Plus I got myself an awesome 10,000-coin profit from the casino *-* That will definitely help

I know I'm late to the party on this, but what's a Bidoof and why does everyone seem to dislike them so much?

*Gen 1 old timer*

Edit: I mean it looks kinda goofy, but I think a lot of pokemon people like look goofy so I can't really gauge it by that.

He was the Rattata of Sinnoh (Gen 4's region). People generally disliked him because of his face, because he wasn't very good (being a Rattata clone), but most importantly because he showed up friggin' everywhere. Probably the worst offender in the history of the Pokémon games for showing up everywhere was Zigzagoon (and later Linoone) in Hoenn. But people generally like Zigzagoon. Or at least tolerate him. People couldn't tolerate Bidoof. He was like a mentally retarded downgrade from the adorable Zigzagoon yet every bit as pervasive, showing up in the grass just about anywhere besides special areas (like caves, forests, indoor patches of grass, etc).

An old VG Cats comic perfectly sums up how the fandom felt about Bidoof's ubiquity back at the launch of Diamond and Pearl in North America and Europe:

Aaaah, that makes sense then! Thanks for the clarification.

I really need to start reading VG Cats more regularly, I've completely given up webcomics lately and I don't remember why.

For the record, I quit reading VG Cats years ago and make no promise about its current quality or lack thereof. ^_^; I just remembered that one particular comic from back when I used to read it semi-regularly.

Bidoof can hatch from Water eggs too, FYI. Bibarel being Normal/Water and everything.

I personally never understood the Bidoof hate. Hell, the first Pokemon I caught in Sinnoh was a Bidoof, and that same Bidoof was a very valuable addition to my team. Bibarel's Water Gun was what got me through Oreburgh Gym, and its general HM compatibility helped immensely. I've always liked the Bidoof line. Hell, I'd be tempted to get one myself in FB if I had the room (and only if I had the room, though, not like with Woobat).

That doesn't help. There are even more Water types than Normal types iirc. (And if not, and Normals are #1, then Water has to be #2.) But fair enough if you want to bring it up.

Yeah, I haven't figured out why people would hate Bidoof so much either. *shows off Shiny Bibarel in Pearl Version* =D

It's kind of impossible to read VG Cats regularly. Once you catch up, all that you really need to do is remember it exists once every 2-3 months and maybe you'll get a new comic or 2.

Well I've seen maybe a dozen VG Cats comics in my lifetime, so I'm sure there's a fairly large backlog to look at.

I actively sought mine out. I might just be the only person who ever actually used the Poke Radar to chain Bidoof.

In other news, I've just completed Chapter 16 of my Pokemon fanfic (it's posted at Serebii and Bulbagarden; called 404 Error, for those of you interested). And now I am bored.

Well, that doesn't mean he didn't have a use. He had an Adamant nature I think, and Simple. Him and my Ninjask are best friends!

The reason no one likes Bibarel would be because it sucks.

Didn't people say that about Qwilfish too?

And now look at MM.

I rest my case regarding "sucky" Pokémon.
