Bulbasaur Beginner Trainer Battle: empoleon dynamite vs. Treepandaone

Another day, another battle and a bit of a different location. Today's battle will be held atop the infamous and frankly quite bizarre Time Rift Mesa of the Volcanic Mountain region. This arena could be rather dangerous if the wrong things were to happen, so both trainers are going to have to be very careful so as not to come away with severely injured companions.

empoleon dynamite vs. Treepandaone
2 vs. 2
Double Battle
Beginner Tier-Only Pokémon from Lv.1 to Lv.25 may be used.
72 Hr DQ
Volcanic Mountain's Time Rift Mesa: A large, flat, rocky plateau jutting out of the desert sands. Standing 30 metres above the desert itself and 50m x 60m wide, it's covered with a light layer of sand and rubble. Any Pokémon falling off the side of the mesa could very well sustain serious, if not fatal, injuries.

And now, I've got my trusty Magikarp coin to determine who will be attacking first! (empoleon dynamite is heads, Treepandaone is tails)
...and it's heads, empoleon dynamite will be first for this match!

Though I'm almost positive that I wont have to remind you, here are the rules, just to be sure and what not, we want everything to run as smooth as physically possible.

Now, the order will go as follows;
- Both trainers will PM their Pokemon's stats, healing items, and first round moves to me.
- I will ref the first round accordingly.
- empoleon dynamite will then order his attacks for the next round.
- Treepandaone will then go on to order his attacks for the round also.
- I will ref and then the order will alternate.
- Rinse, repeat!

That's about it, I guess. Though it's not completely needed, adding a little roleplaying is obviously more fun than simply ordering your attacks. Good luck to both of you and away we go! :}

Stepping up to the rock-strewn plateau seamlessly jutted out of the hot desert ambiance, Wes took a minute to unload his shoes of the excess sand and re-align his windswept hair. Beside him stood Ventress. Waddling along the craggy base, the unruly fossil was bustling for a battle to discharge the hateful emotions she amassed. Cradled in Wes’ arms was the rather timid Sid Vicious. He was still a bubba and seemed quite unwary, despite the fact the upcoming battle would be fairly laid back. Clambering over a dozen or so jagged boulders, Wes gawked at the mammoth eyesore now blocking the sun. Sporting a serrated demeanour and an intimidating grimace, Wes recognised the steel beast to be none other than Steelix. Knowing the impressive serpent was his adversary, Wes couldn’t help shuddering in angst – Sid meanwhile releasing a premature poop Oo;

“Impressive Pokes”, Wes uttered, dropping Vicious on the floor and allowing the twosome to meet at the centre of the arena, “Ok Vicious, kick things off with a sandstorm then rollout on Magby as you gain momentum. Ventress, unload your tentacles like a peacock to astonish Steelix, then set up a barrier for good measure!”

Matthew walked through the wormhole of the desert, before gasping at what he had discovered. Within its rift were A large, flat, rocky plateau jutting out of the desert sands, a small layer of sand covering the slab to create a huge battling arena. He looked around little nervously, he was never great with heights but pushing the groggy feeling that came with it aside, as he managed to peek over the edge, a natural beauty that any trainer would be humble to see. Walking up to the small square ringed out, he then noticed a trainer on the other side. Calling across in a friendly manner he was greeted by an experienced trainer, noting the rough look about some of the Pokémon. As Matthew looked over the team that his opposition had, he noted a few young Pokémon before releasing his team of honorable friends and asking if he fancied a battle with one whom had not had the chance to.

After agreeing on which specs to use in the match, Matthew stood in the appropriate space, eying up the opponent, a young man that had much like him. Matthew tried his best to look confident but little nerves showed through, being rather new to Fizzy bubbles he couldn’t help show shaky tendencies. Although he was rather new to this line of work and his opponent had a year of experience under his belt and Matthew knew he couldn’t underestimate anything about him, and expect anything to happen. Matthew nodded over to him, a signal to release Pokémon. Smirking Matthew, Reaching down towards his belt, unclipped two Pokéballs, the red sphere increasing in mass, Matthew grabbed the middle before throwing them down at the ground.

“Impact, Hellion! I chose you”

Matthew called upon some of the youngest members of his team, and yet he knew they weren’t the type to be messed with.

“Steelix, start by using Bind on the Pokémon to the left, then harden t to increase the mass damage. After that use Magnet rise.
Magby, use Dynamic punch on the Pokémon on the right, then give it a taste of your leer, then a brick break for its troubles!”

Matthew clenched his fists, knowing it was about to kick off. Giving his team an obligatory wink and thumbs up, he stared on, ready for anything.
[Never done a double battle reffing before, I hope I do everything right, don't refrain from PM'ing me if I do something you don't believe is right. Didn't expect to write so much :P]

With the two of you atop the precarious yet fascinating plateau, you acknowledge one another before sending forth your chosen monsters, Ventress the Lileep to the right and Vicious the Larvitar to the left of Wes and Impact the blue glinting Steelix to the right and Hellion the Magby to the left of Matthew. After slight banter from both sides and opening attacks issued to both pokémon, the battle commences.

Ventress is the first pokémon to attack, launching herself directly at the peculiarly coloured Steelix, opening her tentacles in a peacockesque fashion as she does so. As the attack performs its intended purpose, the humongous steel snake blinks, flinching at the astonishing attack. Shortly after the Lileep launches herself forward, Hellion runs at her, one of his tiny fists glowing white. As the Magby reaches Ventress, the attack makes impact and deals quite a chunk of damage to her, causing her to reel backwards, tentacles all over the place.

Visibly disgruntled by his partner taking a hit, Vicious leaps up, throwing both claws into the air as a sandstorm begins to rip across the whole mesa in an instant. As it does so, Hellion is buffeted for a slither of damage, yet the rest of the pokémon remained unphased by the attack. Having recovered from the flinching, Impact suddenly rising up, hovering above the ground slightly on an unseen magnetic force. Not moving, the Magby glares at Ventress, her defense lowering as she drops her guard, obviously unnerved by the leering attack. Despite this, she is quick to create a barrier, protecting herself from future attacks.

With one last attack, Hellion leaps at the newly formed barrier, smashing through it with a brick break attack and hitting the Lileep on the top of her head, striking her for another good amount of damage. With the Magby in close quarters, Larvitar curls into a small green ball before rolling towards his foe, crashing into Hellion for a chunk of damage.

With the initial round over, a horrific sandstorm is raging across the top of the mesa. Neither sides have used up much energy as a whole. Impact has used up the least, only pulling off a magnet rise attack and Hellion has used up the most energy, having used two attacks of a different type but his own. Ventress has used up a small portion of energy with both of her attacks and Sid Vicious has used up more energy with the rollout than the sandstorm. In terms of hitpoints, Impact has taken a slither of damage from the astonish, Hellion has lost approximately 1/5 of his hitpoints, having being hit by the sandstorm and Vicious' rollout. Ventress has lost around 2/3 of her hitpoints already from the two super effective fighting attacks and Vicious remains completely untouched.

"Continue to roll yourself out on Hellion, Sid. Add in a harden for good measure", Wes ordered to the gyrating ball of green and red, "Ventress, wriggle your tentacles into Impact's crevaces and tickle him up and down. Continue by firing off an Energy ball!"

Matthew stared at the structure that faced him; a huge rock levitating on what appeared to be nothing, topped with the sand and rocks of long-deceased old. His heart skipped a beat when he found a fellow adventurer in the rift, and accepted a battle even though he was new to it.

As he ordered his attacks he thought them back over in his head, intent on deciding a better path, but he pushed the thought to one side, now was not the time to be critically analyzing his work. His heart pounded, he was new to battling and so seeing his Pokémon get hurt was something new, but it needed to be done so they could become stronger.

His precious Pokémon and friends stood next to one another in the empty breeze, a silver symbol that hung within this world that people can become greats. Matthew rubbed his chin before moving his erratic hands down to his next, before fumbling on a gold chain, gently lifting his pendant before kissing it for good luck.

As the round started, Magby got off to a flying start, using his natural strength to power through the barrier, as Matthew looked on, putting it down to beginners luck. Trying not to get overconfident Matthew couldn’t help but stifle a cry as Magby was then mowed down by a Larvitar rollout. Things weren’t going very well on the other side either, as Steelix flinched at the attack and didn’t execute his rollout as planned. Matthew cursed under his breath before thinking up a new plan of attack, bearing in mind the safety of his own Pokémon.

“Steelix, as Lileeps tentacles come at you, make sure to bite them hard with an Ice Fang, then use Earth Power.
Magby, as Larvitar comes at you, give it a dynamic punch. Then wait until Steelix is done before launching a smog onto their side of the field, then blow it up with a Flamethrower.”

Matthew looked on in anticipation, giving his team his signature Wink and Thumbs up before they went into battle.

With the opening round now in the past, both of you order attacks for the upcoming round and your pokémon continue their assaults upon each other. The already rolling Larvitar laps around his trainer, continuing its rollout attack. As he laps, the little ball of green rock glows a hue of white, hardening himself before hurtling towards the Magby once more. As Vicious arrives, Hellion attempts to punch out, however, due to the sheer speed of the rollout attack, this fails and the fire pokémon is knocking aside and almost completely ran over by the Larvitar, dealing a chunk of damage to the Magby. With the success of her partner's attack, Ventress wiggles across the ground in a hypnotic manner before quickly climbing onto the back of the Steelix, attempting to tickle between the crevices. However, as she does, Impact swings his humongous head around, his largest fangs glowing a powder blue colour, before chomping down on the tiny Lileep.

Quickly returning to her original place, the injured Lileep gathers her tentacles in a bunch, collecting a sphere of green energy. As the attack flies through the air, battering the side of the humongous steel snake for a nice amount of damage, Impact begins on his second command. Atop the steel pokémon's head forms a mass of brown energy and Impact headbutts the ground, causing a large tremor. As the ground shakes, Ventress cries out in pain once more. However, not only has the attack damaged the opponent, a large fissure forms across the very centre of the rocky arena, creating a split. One side for Wes, Ventress and Vicious and one side for Matthew, Hellion and Impact.

With all other commands over, it was Hellion's time to shine. The fire pokémon approaches the edge of the newly formed gap in the land and begins to spew a cloud of poisonous smog from deep within himself. As the smog begins to engulf Wes' side of the arena, the Magby begins his second attack, the sack in his throat overflows and a long line of flames shoots deep within the cloud of miasma smoke. As the two meet, an explosion occurs above the arena, dealing a moderate amount of damage to Lileep, but only dealing a tiny bit of damage to the still rolling, hardened Larvitar. All around you, the sandstorm roars and disposes of the remaining smog, buffeting the Magby for a slither of damage.

After this round, Impact the Steelix has lost about 1/3 of his hitpoints, Hellion the Magby is down to around 2/3 of his hitpoints from the rollout and sandstorm. Ventress is the worst off this time around being left with a measly 1/6 of her hitpoints and Vicious has taken a small hit, leaving him with around 6/8 of his hitpoints. In terms of energy, Ventress has used up a chunk of energy but still has plenty left in her, despite her hitpoints. Vicious has used up little energy, having merely continued his attack from the previous round. Hellion has used up a chunk of energy with his smog and flamethrower combo but, much like Ventress, still has plenty left in him. Impact has used up a good chunk of energy having used ice fang but is still looking fighting fit and ready for more.

As Matthew formulated his plan, he couldn’t help feeling good inside. The fighting spirit his Pokémon had shown told him they were willing to do anything for him, thus, he loved them even more. Matthew
remembered some advice given to him a long time ago, the words replaying in his head as the battle raged on, realizing that he must get tough and use the enemy’s weaknesses against them. Looking around Matthew spotted an advantage that he could take advantage on, but only after the round was over.

As the huge Steelix got into position, he was shocked to see the lileep climb on top of the humongous giant, only expecting the worse. As Matthew carried on watching, Steelix used its massive fangs to crunch down on the lileep, forcing it off his back. Matthew wiped off a bead of sweat from his forehead, the worst had not come and for that, Matthew was thankful.

Matthew grimaced again as he watched Hellion take yet another beating since the battle started. His plan had not gone as he perceived it, and he couldn’t help but look away as he got ran over by a hardened Larvitar. Matthew fiddled with his pendant while trying to hold back a tear, until Magby got back up, shouting his attention before giving him a look.

Matthew knew he needed to toughen up, yes his Pokémon were a little battered, but they were still fighting and as long as they would, he would. Clenching his fists and gritting his teeth, Matthew created a new plan.

“Magby! Try a Flamethrower on lileep, if it’s still standing use another. Then use flamethrower on larvitar.
Steelix, your magnet rise should keep you save from the crevice, so use Bind on Larviatar, then use Harden. If you can manage it, use Ice Fang on Larviatar.”

Matthew gave his team a wink before thinking the course through

“Wait! Steelix, if lileep is somehow standing after magbys attacks, use Ice Fang on Lileep instead of Larvitar.”

Matthew gave the thumbs up once more, filling with pride as his Pokémon got ready for the next round.

I hate it when people complain about reffings myself, but at one point you mention Steelix taking a nice amount of damage from energy ball, then you mention he's lost no hit points :x

"Don't worry Ventress, Recover up, then Mirror Coat against the two flamethrowers for a immense backlash in direction of Impact. Finish by dislodging some of those loose rocks and slide them into Hellion"

"Okidokie Vicious, you should be reaching a climax in your rollout attack, so spin around that crevice and hit Magby, then have a go at ramming Steelix. Finish by burrowing underground with your dig to dodge the Ice Fang!"

With a new set of commands the pokémon begin once more. Ventress, looking rather worse for wear and on her last legs, begins to glow slightly as her health recovers at a rapid rate. Noticing her inevitable recovery, the Magby fires off the requested flamethrower, directly at the Lileep. However, as he does, the tentacled fossil mirrors the attack back in the direction of the Steelix after feeling the burn herself, causing it to cry out in extreme pain from the super effective fire attack.

Meanwhile, Vicious has gained extreme momentum from the rollout attack and careers right across the fissure across the centre of the field, right in the direction of Hellion. As the impact is made with the Larvitar and Magby, the fire pokémon is knocked backwards, crashing on the rocky ground. Slow to move, the weakened Impact slides his large, metal tail around the now finished Vicious, hardening up as he did so, causing the tiny Larvitar to lose his breath slightly. As the Steelix's grip remains consistent over Vicious, Ventress begins her next attack. Slamming at several large boulders atop the plateau, she sends a barrage of chunked rock at Hellion, who has not long got to his feet.

As ordered, Impact suddenly uncoils from around the tiny Larvitar and heads in the direction of the Lileep, fangs bared, ready to bite down on her with Ice Fang. However, due to taking a few decent hits, the Steelix becomes sluggish and the dangerous attack manages to miss Ventress, much to her delight. As the steel snake had moved across the gap with ease, using magnet rise, Vicious followed his own command and was now burrowing deep below the surface of the earth, readying a surprise assault.

After this round of attacks, the sandstorm returns once more, buffeting Hellion the Magby. In terms of hitpoints, Ventress managed to recover the majority of her lost hitpoints at the cost of her energy and is now down to around 1/2 once more, due to flamethrower. Vicious is down to around 1/2 of his hitpoints, due to the hardened bind. Hellion the Magby is down to around 1/5 of hitpoints, due to rollout and sandstorm once more. Impact has around 1/4 of his hitpoints left. In terms of energy, all of the pokémon bar Ventress seem ready for more, there only hindrance is the severe lack of hitpoints all around. The Lileep has energy left, she just used up quite the chunk recovering herself and putting up a mirror to re-direct Hellion's attack.

Vicious, Dig around Impact and cause the plateau to give way beneath him. Finish by heating things up with Dragon Rage and kicking it up a notch to Flamethrower! Ventress, Astonish Hellion with your extensive tentacles, Constrict him nice and tight, then Wring Out his vital fluids!

Good luck team!

Matthew gritted his teeth and clenched his fists as his team took a nasty beat down after his opponent came up with an excellent move. As he formulated his plan, he couldn’t help but cross his finger and hope for the best.

Magby, quickly use flamethrower to burn and keep Ventress' tentacles to herself. You should have time as ventress be slower because she’s tired. Then use two Dynamic Punches on her or her tentacles, whichever applies.
Steelix, use Earth Power to smack Vicious while he's underground, maybe get the plateau to fall from under him instead. If it doesn't work, use your previous Magnet Rise to float over to another bit of the plateu and watch him fall down. If he does somehow survive, Use Ice fang to stop him using flamethrower, then bind him again.

Matthew winked and gave a thumbs up to Magby and Steelix, they had done him proud and he knew it.

With both trainers issuing a myriad of powerful attacks for both their battle partners, it is becoming quite clear that both sides are wanting a win. With Vicious still below the ground, he began his attack at once, scurrying around beneath the earth to cause the ground below the Steelix to shift. Not expecting the attack, the steel snake is barraged by the rocks being tossed upwards as the Larvitar dug. The Steelix began to attack to, crashing its tail down upon the earth below, within which Vicious was still tunneling. A cry lets you both know that the attack hit. With the Larvitar completely out of sight, the Steelix begins to use its magnetic field once more, hovering around to look for the Larvitar it could have possibly killed, let alone knocked out. From the rubble, a tiny green paw emerges and Vicious materializes.

Visibly damaged but wanting to continue onwards, the tiny rock type throws his head back, firing a stream of purple flames at the Steelix. As the attack bathes the snake, it cries out in pain. It isn't long before the worn out Larvitar attacks again, spewing out a horrific flamethrower. As this attack hits, the Steelix cries out in extreme pain, collapsing on the ground. As you squint through the disturbed dust, you notice the pokémon has fainted.

Despite this going on, Ventress and Hellion are locked in combat themselves. The Magby rushes in, spewing his own flamethrower attack at the Lileep's tentacles. As the attack bathes her, she yelps in pain before managing to propel herself forwards, spreading out all of her tentacles in a fan like motion to astonish the foe. With this, Ventress quickly attempts to leap in and constrict her enemy. However, this is met by the Magby regaining itself and punching at at the Lileep, causing her to retract her tenticles in pain. As the Magby continues for a second dynamic punch, Ventress opens her damaged tentacles, grasping at the Magby's fist, wringing out the attack, causing no damage for either side.

With all the attacks over, the three remaining pokémon seem to be stumbling a little, all incredibly weakened by what looks to possibly be the penultimate round. Impact the Steelix fainted in this round, Ventress is left with around 1/5 hitpoints, Hellion is left with 1/8 hitpoints, barely holding on now. Vicious is now left with around 1/5 hitpoints too, much like his fossil companion. In terms of energy, almost all of the pokémon are completely exhausted, the upcoming round most definitely being their last, regardless of fainting...

Matthew looked on with angst as Steelix carried out the plan, however it didn't go as plan and ended with Steelix being KOd after not doing much. As the gargantuan giant fell, Matthew saw the only advantage he had left and tried to use it.

"Magby, Ventress and Vicious should be so nearly fainting from health and energy after all these high powered moves and they should be slow so give them both a Flamethrower each. If either one is still standing, another for good measure.

Matthew nooded as he withdrew his steelix from the battlfield. Wondering what went wrong, he thanked his pokémon for the attempt and shrugged. Sometimes things just don't go your way.

He can't hit you both at once, so fire off a Rockslide and Dragon Rage from both angles!
Then Vicious, Leer him into place so Ventress can Wring Out what's left of him!

With both sides ordering to finish the opponent, basically, the highly weakened pokémon nod to their trainers and begin the ultimate assault. Hellion is first to make a move, looking towards Vicious. As he does, the flame sac in his throat becomes active once more, firing out a burst of flames. As these flames lap at the opponent, he cries out in pain. However, as he does, both trainers notice him fall to his knees, not fainted but incapable of making much ground. Despite this, the tiny Larvitar manages a Dragon Rage attack, sending his own similar purple flames right back at the Magby.

As the attack hits, Hellion too falls to his knees, grasping for a last burst of energy. Eyeing her chance, the Lileep glares at her foe, causing his last defenses to drop. Now left completely defenseless, she begins to toss rocks in his general direction, each one missing until a final one hits for a good bit of damage. Despite having an attack command left each, it appears as though the battle has already been won. Hellion the Magby is unable to battle any further.

Congratulations to empoleon dynamite, both of his pokémon gain two levels from this double battle and, as the trainer of them, you get to take away a lovely little Beginner Trophy . You know the score, three of them means gym challenge time, blahblah, etc :3

My condolences to Treepandaone, both of you did really well in the end, I look forward to reffing something similar in the future!
