I gave some leeway to women because they typically have A) longer hair than the average man B) use other products in the shower as well. i.e. conditioner, moisturizer, body lotion.

Here's something to think about.
70% of the planet is covered in water. 97.5% of that is salt water, which we can't use for drinking or for producing food (i.e. farming, livestock). Of the remaining 2.5% we can drink, 70% of it is not easily attainable due to being frozen at the poles, deep in underground aquifers, or in the soil. The remaining 0.007% water we use, we only need 3 gallons per person per day to live. The average 4 person household uses upwards of 135 gallons of fresh per day, mostly for flushing the toilet and taking showers. |

I was with you on the first point. But then you had to go and talk crazy talk. People have been taking hot baths with no ill effects since Man discovered the first hot spring. And you'd be surprised just how quickly the human body turns over skin. Hard scrubbing daily is more likely to strip off your skin than daily topical application of soaps made for use on human skin.

Usually about 30+ minutes. The shower is also great for shaving. No need for shaving cream, and no need to tie my hair back! It takes longer if I end up spacing out.
Also while it's no big deal either way to me, I guess I would rather have polls in the misc forum. Afterall, I would rather stay away from the debatetes forum. EDIT: I live in a place water is cheap and plentiful, so fuck wastefulness! |

Yeah, I thought of that before I saw your comment, Loki, and when I saw the 10+ people who cited they take 20+ minute showers, myself one of them. I feel like a horrible waster now, especially considering the impending water crisis -
Also, as someone once said - as we look back in the past now at how horribly unintelligent it was for people in medieval times to dump their sewage and waste into the streets, so will people hundreds of years from now say in regards to our stupid use of toilets that rely on business perfectly clean water to rid waste. |

I take long showers with zero qualms. Pretty sure most civilized places recycle water.

30+ minutes. A nice chunk of my parents' water bill comes from my long showers and it pisses them off.

I would prefer that polls stay in debate just so Misc is less spammy. We need a golden subforum.
Also I am surprised people use shaving cream for shaving, it's so expensive. I do kinda what you do bbb, except I literally just splash my face with water then go to town. |

Yeah, I tended to shave my beard (and my head occasionally) in the shower, as well.

REEEEAAAAALLY long.
Like. Insanely long. I used to take two hours, but that was probably more because I simply sat there and brainstormed ideas for forever. Now, I like to take 45-60 minutes, but I can cut it down to as little as ten when absolutely required. |

I can spend a good +40 minutes in the shower, which is mostly why I hate morning showers, apart from weekends when I can spend all the time I like in there. I love long showers, I love warm showers, I'd immediately get a bathtub if I could (those haven't been built in Finnish houses since the 70's).
