"Pokemon XY & Z" anime and special details revealed
WARNING! Upcoming anime spoilers ahead!
CoroCoro has revealed that the Mega Evolution IV special will be the start of the next chapter in the Pokemon anime, subtitled Pokemon XY & Z. Along with this, the mysterious green blob Pokemon has been revealed to be Zygarde Core Form, while the flat blobs that lol similar but discolored are Zygarde Cell Form. In addition to this, we have learned that the Core and the Cells form to make 10% Form, 50% Form, and 100% Forms of Zygarde. At 10%, Zygarde becomes a speed focused Dog-like Pokemon. 50% is the Zygarde we all know and love, and 100% is more or less a similar to a Gundam. In addition to all of this, the anime poster also reveals Ash's Noibat has evolved into Noivern and his Frogadier has evolved into Greninja, except his Greninja appears to be a different form or even mega version. Some are referring to it as Ash Greninja based on its uncanny appearance and similarities to Ash. Oh, and top it all off with the fact that the next part of the anime series is subtitled "XY & Z", it stands to reason that there is a very good chance that the next game could wind up being Z after all. |

On the one hand, disappointed that in clicking on this thread and, given the thread title, fully expecting Z video game news the very first thing my eyes literally landed on were the words "Ash's Greninja" *sigh* ...
On the other hand, the cat being out of the bag gives me wonderful gloating opportunities. Quote:
Been calling Mega Greninja since around the same time of this post (Fall 2014), feeling that Greninja was the most obvious candidate for the reasons outlined, for the fact that the absence of Kalos mega starters in XY was hugely conspicuous, and for the fact that the anime writers seemed to be delaying giving Ash any mega stones of his own until XY2/Z were ready for confirmed release. On the one hand, I'll concede that Mega Greninja was as obvious to hundreds of thousands of others as it was to me. On the other hand, I'll happily take hold of the reins and gloat that I called it correctly since a) lots of assholes on BMG and other places shouted me down and b) most of the fandom seemed to be convinced of either Mega Charizard or Mega Sceptile, placing me and the many others who correctly called Mega Greninja correctly in the minority.

Was expecting Ash to get a Greninja at some point, but one with an exclusive appearance? That's pretty cool. Reminds me of Gold's Pichu from the Adventures manga. Can't wait for an event for it.
The Zygarde stuff is interesting, but I feel like the whole 10%, 50%, 100% GUNDAM STYLE is kinda... overkill? Especially the dog-like form, it just feels really out of place. The core/cell thing makes sense, since Zygarde maintains the ecosystem. I'm interested in the background behind all these sudden formes, specially the difference between core and cell. Overall pretty cool stuff seems to be coming up, but, yeah Doberman Zygarde seems really random.

So here's food for thought.
Dragon Ball Z. Pokemon Z. Zygarde confirmed as a cellular being who at 100% power becomes a monstrous humanoid. I'll be damned if it's BST isn't over 900.0. |

No you're not.
GreninjAsh is easily the most ridiculous thing they've shat out. Now, if this is indeed MegaNinja, then could we please get Mega Flygon like you've said you'd give us for crying out loud. Edit: And then it suddenly hits me that Z100 sorta has similarities to the Bionis/Mechonis of Xenoblade, except for the being planet sized bit. Those blobs are really feeling it. |

Mega Kangaskhan literally just got a bigger baby that came out of the pouch. And honestly, I think I'd prefer under to over design, especially with Greninja. However, the Ash hair/whatever is creepy

Theory: Zygarde is strongly implied in many ways to have something to do with DNA and cell structure, especially considering its name comes from Zygote and the French word for Guard (and possibly the Norse Midgarde).
If AshGreninja is a thing, perhaps some event will occur that mixes Ash's DNA with Greninjas via Zygarde magic shenanigans or something. That's literally the only thing I can think of that would explain why Greninja has, uh... Ash's features. Unless they go full Digimon Frontier (never go full Digimon Frontier) and have Ash and Greninja straight up fuse together. Yeesh. That... Yeesh. |

I know we shouldn't even be surprised about Pokémon having loads of different forms by now but does Zygarde really need all this?
Especially the dog one, seems really out of place. |

I was thinking this too. Especially because Serebii has been calling the 100% form "Zygarde Perfect Forme."

I mean I can see Zygarde being made up of cells and stuff and having the ability to shapeshift and change at will, but massive robot thing? Really? First Hoopa-Unbound and now this...
I'm trying to put my finger on what this reminds me of. It might be Power Rangers. I'm really not sure. I'd be convinced that the shown Greninja was Mega Greninja if not for the weird tufts of Ash hair. It very well could be MegaNinja with the Ash hair tacked on as a special anime thing. This new Greninja has the light blue water/arm blade things and the red markings and fin on its head, which honestly wouldn't be a bad looking mega to me. Beats megazord zygarde any day in my book. Despite my general distaste towards Gen 6, I'd actually be excited for Mega Gen 6 Starters. I know that I felt like Delphox could have been so much more, and I'm sure that many others did as well. I'm picturing badass wizard/mage MegaFox with a staff or something. Would be quite cool and I'd actually be able to enjoy the concept of Delphox rather than disregarding it as an inferior Ninetales. |

I just noticed something: Gundam Zygarde has a blue-tinged wing/armguard on his right side (our left) and a red-tinged wing/armguard on his left side (our right). Does this mean that Gundam Zygarde is a legendary fusion the same way that Kyurem-B and Kyurem-W are? Does the absorption of Xerneas and Yveltal into Zygarde's body create a super-being

Man I hope you do not have to go around collecting Cells, that sounds like a chore. On the other hand, kinda surprised this isn't Mega Greninja.

Well the Zygarde we know and love is 50% form, which means the complete form will obviously have a BST of 1200. So it's worth it to collect cells IMO.

1. Hahaha, will eat a small leg o' crow re:Mega Greninja and GreninjAsh. But only a small one. I still say Mega Greninja is coming. Also ...
2. GreninjAsh is dumb. Maybe I'd like it if the writers had written Froakie / Frogadier / Greninja to have 1) a more developed personality and 2) a richer, tighter bond with Ash than any of his other Pokémon. But they haven't done that. Hawlucha, Noibat, and even Goomy / Sliggoo / Goodra were better written than Froakie, etc, was. And Ash's bond with his Frogadier (soon to be Greninja) is not really remarkable. Pikachu, Charizard, Chikorita, and Oshawott are way ahead in that department. You may as well give Charizard Ash's features if you're going to give Greninja them. It's stupid. 3. The cell thing sounds kinda neat but also kinda convoluted. Sounds like the fandom told Game Freak, "Try and make Unown fun!" and Game Freak responded, "Challenge accepted!" 4. I'm still suspicious about those Xerneas Blue and Yveltal Red colors. We'll see.

Greninjash (which I will henceforth shorten to Gash) is possibly the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
