POKĂ©MON Platinum?
So are the rumors true? Is the inevitable third version on its way? If so let's hope they've taken the time to make it not suck shit unlike D/P! Come to think of this wouldn't that name make the 4th generation D/P/P? They can't re-use letters! That's just not right!

Re: POKĂ©MON Platinum?
Touché. It would be the first time, wouldn't it. RBY. GSC. RSE. And now DPP. But I always read them as three letters anyway, so so long as it's three I'm okay. What would throw me off my kilter would be if they introduced "a fourth 4th-gen title." Then I'd be in trouble. ;)
I'm sort of looking forward to this, except they're talking about Giratina having a serpentine "mirror universe form" which I'm guessing is going to have the 120 stats and the 100 stats swapped, so instead of being a defensive monster who can still pack a pretty punch, he's going to be even more ridiculously insane with a hefty 100-stat defense across the board and 120 Att and SpAtt. Madness. Also pure speculation. If Serebii's report is true and the Japanese commonly say ???? for Platinum instead of ?????? (which is how I would have guessed they'd have said it), then shucks. Otherwise, i think it may be a forced pun to work with Giratina, ????? . *looks it up* Confirmed, the Japanese call platinum "white gold" (hey, so do we!), hakkin or ??, but they also have the slang term ????. I enjoyed Pearl most of any of the games, though I think I got more from Ruby the first time I played its story mode than I did from DP. DP's story mode was very confusing at times and didn't quite resonate with me as an epic adventure (even though it should have). Ruby, on the other hand, felt incredibly epic when I first played it. So I'm a little ambivalent about Platinum, too. I'll definitely buy it, but I just hope it won't prove to be a giant waste of time.

I liked D/P more then any RuSa, that's for sure. Also I just realized I'm still missing guys in my D/P Pokedex.

Re: POKĂ©MON Platinum?
For hardcore trainers (read: 99% of children playing), there really ought to be an option to keep battle animations but omit battle text. Instead, all we've got is the other way around (omit animations but keep annoying time-consuming text) or the default of having both enabled.
I mean, seriously, it's important to have that text enabled during the first run-through of story mode but after that -- when you're 100% sure that your 35-power Thundershock is going to OHKO any foe except a Ground type -- you really don't need the text there. You can sort of figure it out if the game suddenly forces you into the Team menu ("whoops, guess my Pikachu just fainted") or when the enemy suddenly has a new Pokemon out on the field ("heh, guess I fainted his other guy").
