'Susan'
'Susan' In the grounds of a large haunted mansion, there lies a place unlike any other. A place where the ghouls wont even dare to tread, a place of silence and quiet contemplation about what lurks within, a place known only as ‘Susan’. One man has made his home here with his Pokémon companions, nestled high up in their own personal tree-top abode, protected from the innumerable spirits and demons within the mansion’s limits... Taking in his eerie surroundings, Zak sighed a sigh of relief, he was finally here. Like all good trainers, he had wanted his own personal abode for quite a while and had chosen a place perfectly suited for him. Not only was it set in the grounds of a strange and spooky mansion, it was also a tree house very much like the style of housing in one of his favourite cities, Fortree of the Hoenn region.
"Alright you lot, it's time for you to come and check out Susan!" Zak chuckled, he had no idea why he had decided to name his new home, let alone how he referred to it as if it was a woman. As he spoke, he began pressing the release button on the eight pokéballs on his belt, he had specially withdrawn both his Blaziken and Delibird from the PC to show them where the group would call 'home' The pokémon began appearing one by one, starting with Nancy the huge toad-like Venusaur, quickly followed by the rest. Once they were all gathered before him, Zak began to introduce some of the pokémon as not all of them had met. Once that was complete, he pointed up to a nearby tree with a big grin. From the ground you couldn't see the base but it was apparent that something was up there, due to a newly placed rope ladder. "Let's go up, should we guys?" Zak began to ascend the rope ladder, eager to see his newly bought base with the variety of decor he had ordered. As he clambered up, his Pidgeotto and Shuppet swooped up and past him, they didn't need the assistance of the ladder. Eventually, he had pulled himself onto the wooden floor his base was covered in. Considering it was up a tree, Zak noticed the sheer size of his base, it even had two rooms, one containing two plushies, that of a Bulbasaur, in honour of his friend's Bulbasaur, Ganja and a Venusaur in honour of his own Venusaur, Nancy. Noticing these, he smiled, he was excited for Red to pay a visit with Ganja, he knew how well the two grass pokémon would get along. As he began to explore the base, the rest of his pokémon made their own way up the ladder, Nancy being the last. It appeared that she had extended her vines to to top of the tree and swung up, despite her size, she was highly agile, something Zak was astounded by each time he saw her performing such maneouvres. Content with his new place, he strolled to the pretty green table, touching it with his hand, it felt wonderful to have a place to call his own. He had lived with his parents for his whole life before becoming a pokémon trainer and he now finally had his first home, it was small and not really meant for living in, but he intended to. "Make yourself at home, guys, I'm gonna get on the laptop and try and get hold of some people to pay us a visit. Fancy a party?" Zak spoke rapidly, he was excited and wanted people to come and visit as soon as they possibly could. As he sat to the laptop, Jenny the Delibird and Guillermo the Blaziken, glad to be out of the PC system, sat at the two chairs across from Zak, imitating him in a playful manner as he typed away at the laptop, his fingers moving at such a great speed. |

Alina cautiously approached the base of a large tree, the name "Susan" engraved in its trunk. She felt that she shouldn't even be here, since this tree house was on the grounds of a supposedly haunted Mansion. The girl always seemed to end up in the strangest places...
She then noticed a ladder hanging down from the side of the tree and gazed upward into the branches, trying to determine how long this ladder really was. That was a long way to climb... but she did promise her friend that she would visit once he got a base of his own. She put one hand on the side of the ladder and shook it back and forth. Of course, it wasn't stable. It probably wasn't safe either. Alina was never a huge fan of heights... she even cried on a ski lift that was merely 8 feet off the ground. Maybe she could say "Yeah, sorry Zak, got sick. Y'know, that flu shit that's been going around." None the less, she began to ascend upwards in sheer terror. I'll have to force Zak to install an elevator in his tree, Alina thought to herself, nearly in tears from the horror of it all. After what seemed like an eternity, she finally made it to the base of the treehouse in one piece. She was shaking and looked very pale as she stumbled onto the base and knocked on the door of Susan the treehouse. "Go install a damn elevator!" |

Noticing that his first guest had arrived, he left his spot at the pretty table and walked to the treehouse door. After a quick peek through the spyhole, he noticed that it was Alina looking rather disgruntled, opening the door, Zak stepped to one side to let her in, "Did I just hear you shouting something about an elevator?" Zak chuckled, "How about we introduce the pokémon?"
Motioning towards the larger room, Zak began pointing at his pokémon, naming each one seperately, "Nancy the Venusaur, Tim the Pidgeotto, Silas the Luxio, Shane the Shuppet, Doug the Slowking, Andy the Glaceon, Guillermo the Blaziken and last but not least, my baby Delibird, Jenny..." Taking his first breathe since naming the pokémon, Zak began once more, "...guys, meet Alina" A chorus of pokémon cries began, welcoming the girl. Once the pleasentries were over, Jenny leapt from her seat at the table, brandishing a cube-shaped object, it was a present and she was offering it to Alina with a cheerful smile. "Jenny? That's nice of you..." Zak smiled at the present she had given to his friend, despite it being there first meeting. Looking around, Zak realized he had nothing to offer Alina in form of refreshment, he hadn't bought a fridge just yet and the only thing he could think of was a glass of water...fresh from Doug's mouth. Zak, no, I am not filling a glass with my water gun... a voice appeared in his head at once, it appeared to be Doug speaking to him telepathically, "Doug, get out of my head, how much time a day do you spend reading my mind?" Zak shouted without thinking, he had totally forgotten that only he could hear the Slowking's voice and as he did so, the Slowking began shifting it's eyes from side to side, trying to act innocent and make out that Zak was completely crazy. "Why don't you open that present, Alina?" Zak smiled at his friend, shaking the thought of his seemingly random outburst. He began wondering if they were going to be joined by anyone else. Maybe someone who could bring some better refreshment than Slowking water... |

Mike stared for a while at the trunk of the large tree, the name 'Susan' scratched on it. Beyond, a mansion sprawled out, its decrepit features a sharp contrast to the calm stillness and neatness of this one giant tree. Or maybe, it wasn't very calm at all. Suddenly, a voice popped into his head. "I think you're right. The surroundings are just teeming with ghosts, but everything around this tree is clear. Perhaps the tree itself is possessed?..." Mike jumped with fright at the sound, then glared down at Klaus who was snickering while pawing at the black gem that hung around his neck. "I really wish you wouldn't do that. It freaks me out, and I'm starting to hear some of the other team members too. That gem- and that 'Lord Darkwrath' guy you keep talking about in it- is bad luck." Klaus smartly replied with "I only do it because it freaks you out. Duh." Mike shuddered. What if Klaus was right, and there was a ghost in the tree? Was its name "Susan"? Would it be watching him? Would it be like one of those freaky haunted houses where the furniture moved and doors closed behind you? Shaking such spooky thoughts from his head, he began to climb up the ladder with Klaus leading. He could see Susan's owner, Zak and another trainer, Alina, through a window. By the time he got to the entrance, he was covered in tree scratches and had worked up a sweat. "Hey!" he shouted. "It's Mike Freebird, here for a visit! Oh, and, one word:" he joked. "Elevator!"

Opening the door again, Zak was greeted by Mike and his pokémon [OOC: I couldn't get on your regi since it's on BMG, so I don't know what Klaus is, fill me in ;D] "Did you say elevator too?" Zak glared at Mike, he was beginning to think an elevator really WAS a good idea, a rope ladder was a little too much for most people, including him, "Mike, Alina, Alina, Mike" Zak introduced the two before releasing a nineth pokémon. Whilst he and Alina were at the treehouse, they had performed a temporary trade, one rare candy for Alina's Flaaffy, who was now standing before the three, baa'ing cheerfully.
"Come on in, make yourself at home and don't ask for any refreshments..." Zak rubbed his head, wondering if the Slowking was still perving on his inner most thoughts, "...we don't have any at the moment, I forgot to purchase a refrigirator.." As the three walked into the larger room with the table and chairs, Zak's pokémon greeted them once more. Zak noticed that Jenny was curled up next to one of the chairs, napping at the feet of Guillermo, no more presents for a while it seemed. "How about you let your pokémon relax with mine? Same for you Alina, it'll be good to give them some interaction that isn't just a battle." Zak smiled, motioning towards his pokémon once more who seemed to be talking amongst themselves or, in his Delibird's case, snoring quietly at the feet of Blaziken. |

"Elevator," Alina repeated as she walked inside the base. Zak merely laughed and said, "How about we introduce the pokémon?"
He motioned towards a larger room and pointed out each of his Pokemon, giving their names, "Nancy the Venusaur, Tim the Pidgeotto, Silas the Luxio, Shane the Shuppet, Doug the Slowking, Andy the Glaceon, Guillermo the Blaziken and last but not least, my baby Delibird, Jenny..." Alina waved shyly as Zak took his first breath and continued on, ""...guys, meet Alina." A roar of cries welcomed the girl, who continued to wave to them like an idiot. Jenny, the Delibird, leapt from a chair at the table and trotted over to Alina, handing her a square box. "Jenny? That's nice of you..." praised Zak. Alina, however, wasn't too sure whether she wanted to open this present. Delibirds were known to give out explosive boxes, after all. "Doug, get out of my head, how much time a day do you spend reading my mind?" Shouted Zak randomly. For a moment, the girl was completely confused by this random outburst, until she noticed the Slowking filling up glasses with water from its... mouth. Alina smiled to herself. She did have many conversations with her own psychic type, Prestige, and often she got stared at for appearing to have conversations with no one. There was another knock at the door, and Zak rushed to open it. Another trainer stood at the door, one that Alina wasn't completely familiar with. Zak glared at him and said, "Did you say elevator too? Mike, Alina, Alina, Mike." "Hey," Alina greeted shyly while shaking the present to see if she tell what was inside. Meanwhile, Zak released yet another Pokemon, the Flaaffy that Alina was having Zak hold on to temporarily for her. She baa'd cheerfully among the crowd and wandered around the room curiously as Zak then said, "Come on in, make yourself at home and don't ask for any refreshments... we don't have any at the moment, I forgot to purchase a refrigerator.." "I'm not really thirsty anyway," Alina said as she followed Zak and Mike into the room with the chairs and table. "How about you let your pokémon relax with mine?" Zak said to Mike. "Same for you Alina, it'll be good to give them some interaction that isn't just a battle." The girl agreed and set the present down on the table. She released her five Pokemon and pointed out each one, "Okay, so, there's Igneous the Quilava, Adam the Aron, Parabola the Baltoy, Prestige the Abra, and Alberta the Charmander." Each of her Pokemon gave a cry of 'hello' and began to wander around the room. Prestige climbed onto the chair beside Alina while Alberta sat underneath the table by Alina's feet, holding her tail in her tiny hands so that the flame didn't catch anything on fire. Adam nibbled on Alina's shoe until she kicked him off, then wandered off to see if he could chew on anything else. Igneous curled up in the corner of the room to sleep while Parabola spun around the room, curiously analyzing each object. Alina sat at the table quietly and began to unwrap her present; her curiosity was almost overwhelming now, explosive or not. Last edited by Artificial Dragon; 01-15-2009 at 10:34 PM. |

After his first attempt at having his own private shindig failed miserably, Zak decided that, with several new team members, he should throw another little gathering. Sitting to the table with Esteban, his newly obtained Gible, following his every move, he began to type up an email to send to all of his favourite trainers. Finishing the email, Gible leaped upon the green table and slapped at the 'send' button with his fin.
"Esteban, please..." Zak chuckled as the land shark hopped around on the tabletop, excited at the prospect of meeting new people. As he waited for replies or potential guests to merely turn up out of the blue, the boy released the rest of his pokémon into the base and they began milling around at once. As they did so, Zak strolled to the window, looking out for any of his potential guests and their very own pokémon... [Come in, if I like you ;P] |

Eh, wanted to go to a base for a small change of pace. Hope you don't mind =p
Nikki eyed the surroundings warily, distrusting what wild inhabitants may have been lurking in the nearby bushes. Trailing her was a Gallade, her newly-evolved starter with blades for arms and a temperament that didn't quite match, however he could be ferocious if need be. "Well, I came here to visit a fellow trainer I haven't exactly talked to all too much, I wonder where his secret base is..." she mused quietly. Looking around, she noticed a rope ladder out of place amidst the dreary landscape that Nikki had all too painfully missed. "There's my answer, let's go Mystic." "Hello?" the trainer called out to the trainer inside. "I've come to visit if you don't mind, thought it'd be nice to have a chat or something." The ladder looked sturdy enough, as sturdy as a rope ladder could be. Nikki knew Mystic would teleport up with no worries, so she made her way up. She knocked on the door three times, noticing with a grin her Gallade was already at her side. She would have liked to show off her other two Pokemon but outside someone's door was not the place to cram a bladed Pokemon, a horse with fire for its mane and a Froslass with a body far colder than ice. Not to mention an Ekans with a severe need for personal space... "Try replacing that rope ladder with a wooden one sometime," Nikki said with false scorn. "I nearly fell off that thing thrice and it swings in the wind. Better yet, get an elevator. Thanks for inviting me by the way, Zak. Can I see your Pokemon? I heard you hatched a shiny some time ago, haven't seen your Drifloon in person though. I bet he looks amazing." Her tone lightened up a bit and the girl wondered if anyone else was already there. |

You're okay with a visit right?
As Tim check his email at a local pokemon center, he noticed an invitation from a fellow trainer, Zak. "Sounds like fun." Tim said as a grin slid across his face. Once Tim arrived at the location, he began to tremble at the frightening image of a haunted mansion. "J-Just walk right in..." Tim said to himself. As Tim thought, his partner Perona the Dusclops emerged from here pokeball and shot Tim with her usual Will-o-Wisp. "Gah!" Tim shouted as he rolled on the ground to extinguish the flames. "Quit doing that!" Tim shouted at the Ghostly maiden who responded with a hi-five. "I'm not going to hi-five you!" continued Tim. After a deep breath, Tim knocked on the old looking door. |

Wandering along a dark and cold forest with Nimbus the Castform hovering above, Matthew whistles with pleasure enjoying what he can of the beautiful, but still scary, scenery, the moons rays amplifying the radiance of the trees sparkle and the water droplets sheen. Castform hovered down from above Matthew’s head before investigating some of the dew, the little droplets of water intriguing the young Pokémon’s inquisitive mind. As Matthew looked around at the glorified darkness in presence, he heard a terrifying shriek, quickly turning round to see what the matter was. It was castform, the lovable scamp had been staring at water dew on the tree when it fell onto his head, Matthew laughed in amusement as castform zoomed back, before quickly raising his arms for a cuddle. Matthew picked up Nimbus, giving him a tight squeeze before moving on.
With chocolate eggs and prizes in check, Matthew’s continued his journey before seeing dark red eyes in the forest bush, before it vanished into thin air. Nimbus’ eyes widened at the thought of his first adventure, before squeaking. Matthew looked down, then back up again before making his decision. He ran through the bush, Castform still in arms, before standing in a vast wasteland of nothingness. It was just a trick, his eyes deceived him. Matthew looked disheveled as he turned around, only for castform to jump back out of his arms. Matthew called him back but he didn’t listen, flying through the forest like a madman. As Matthew turned the corner, he saw Nimbus standing dead still, not moving an inch. Matthew walked up to him, announcing his presence before tapping Castform on the shoulder. It looked at him and then glanced straight on; Matthew was puzzled, until he looked up. He was in the back yard of a large mansion. Matthew looked around, despite the ghoulish aura, there seemed to be no ghost Pokémon in sight, no Pokémon at all. As he looked around, he saw two trainers waiting at the bottom of a tree trunk. “Hello?! I’m Matthew, I’m new to this area, why are you waiting round that tree trunk?” As Matthew finished his sentence, he began to think about the other options “You aren’t ghost coming to take me away to the shadow realm are you? I put up a good fight” Matthew waited on edge, the hair on the back of his neck stood up. This was going to get good. |

With his emails sent out a little while ago, Zak paced towards the window once more, Esteban the Gible hot on his heels once more. This time, however, it appeared as if there was a guest at the front door. Opening it with a grin, he mumbled quickly "Hey Nikki, come on in." As he spoke, he motioned his arm towards the larger room in his secret base. As the girl entered, followed by an impressive Gallade, Zak edged past quickly to see if there were anymore guests. Another shock came to him as two trainers appeared, Tim and Matthew, accompanied by their respective pokémon, Perona the Dusclops and Nimbus the Castform.
"Hey guys, come on up! Make yourself at home!" Zak called out before following his already waiting guest into the next room. As he entered, he noticed Esteban was already becoming acquainted with Nikki, rubbing his fin on her leg in a content manner, "Looks like you've already met Esteban, he can be a pain but he's never not cute.." he chuckled, "I'll introduce you to my team, anyway, especially my recent hatching." With another grin and ten flashes of red light, his whole team appeared before the two. "Guys, this is Nikki and her Gallade, Nikki, this is my team." Zak pointed to each pokémon, naming them as he went, "..and this, is Sunny." He finished with the shiny Drifloon he had recently hatched from a flying storm egg. As the yellow and blue balloon pokémon bobbed through the air towards the two humans, the other guests arrived with pokémon in toe. "Everyone wanna introduce their teams? It'll be a little cramped but there should be room..." Zak laughed, rubbing the back of his head. He had quite obviously forgotten that Matthew had a Steelix on his team... |

Anxious for the safety of his newly hatched Castform, Matthew pushed aside the thought of being attacked by the ghost Pokémon around the area before talking a fast stroll towards the door, to be greeted by Zak, a pen pal that he had acquired a month previously. Since he’d never met Zak before, he was more than gracious when the trainer turned out to be a caring person and one that welcomed Matthew, and his pokemon into his house.
As castform quickly hurried behind Matthew, zooming in and out of his arms and legs before quickly nestling in his hood, to which Matthew gave a slight chuckle. Matthew strode into the new abide before looking up, to hear Zak speaking to the group he had inside the home. "Hey guys, come on up! Make yourself at home!" Matthew did so, as he scratched the tuft of hair upon his chin, and examined the base for any further ideas as to how to progress with his own. None arose. Castform, seeing the coast was clear, decided to jump out of the hood and hover on Matthew’s right shoulder, before giving a little cry. Matthew reached his hand up before gently rubbing nimbus on the chin, proud that his new Pokémon was showing bravery at such an early stage, even if it was safe inside the house. As Matthew looked around the room, he saw two other trainers, Nikki and Tim. Having met Tim when he first moved in to the glacier islands, he gave a firm handshake and a friendly hi. Matthew then introduced himself to Nikki, having never met he gave the usual standard handshake and another pleasant hello. Matthew looked down, and couldn’t help stifle a giggle as a small gible rubbed against Nikki’s leg in a content manor. "I'll introduce you to my team, anyway, especially my recent hatching." Zak called out, much to Matthew’s interest as he had never seen Zak’s team before. With another grin and ten flashes of red light, Zak’s whole team appeared before the group, much to Matthews delight. One particular Pokémon caught Matthew’s eye, a yellow drifloon. Flicking open his Pokédex he was surprised to read that this particular Pokémon was shiny. “Oh wow, a rare shiny Pokémon. I’ve heard these are very hard to get” Matthew said to Zak, the awe sounded clearly in his voice as it trailed off, looking at the Pokémon in question. Matthew then jumped as he heard Castforms squeak, as it floated from his shoulder to introduce itself. As Castform and Drifloon met, the small shape changer flew up a little water pulse before letting it burst, raining small glittery showers on the room, changing nimbus to the water form for a brief period of time. “You must excuse Nimbus, he’s a very active Pokémon. Making use of what time he has I suppose after being stuck in that casino prize room for god knows how long. He can be a handful, but he’s very enjoyable to have around, as long as he’s not drenching you with water attacks.” Matthew said, smiling to his companion while addressing the rest of the room. "Everyone wanna introduce their teams? It'll be a little cramped but there should be room..." Zak suggested. Matthew nodded; it would be a great experience for his team to have Pokémon Company. Grabbing two pokéballs from his belt, swirling them in his hand before tossing it into the air to reveal two more of his own Pokémon, Magby and Gligar. “This is magby” Matthew explained as the little fire type burst out of its pokéball before exhausting a little flame from its mouth. Matthew turned to his other Pokémon “And this is Hangligar, we don’t bond very well.” Matthew said warily, the FlyScorpion Pokémon giving him a glare. Matthew reached down to grab two more Pokémon, before withdrawing his hand, imagining the carnage that lied ahead if he did so. “I also have a steelix, but he’s very grumpy when disturbed, and I don’t think this is the best place.” Matthews eyes darted around the room, looking at all the valuables that most likely would have been destroyed with the large pokémon’s release. “I also have a rhyhorn, but he’s in a mood with me right now, so it’s best to leave him be as well.” Matthew rubbed the back of his neck, hoping the other, more experienced trainers wouldn’t see him as a weakling for not being able to control the majority of his squad. |

As Zak invited Nikki, Matthew, and Tim into his humble abode, Perona floated in excited to meet new pokemon. Tim just watched as she attempted to hi-five everyone with little response. "Everyone wanna introduce their teams?" Zak asked, to which Tim responded, "Sure, I'll bring out some of my pogies."
At that, Tim brought out three more pokeballs which all emitted a light which revealed a Politoed, Delibird, and Ditto. "I'd like for everyone to meet Kermit, Birdie, and Morph respectively." announced Tim as two of his rather odd pokemon, Kermit and Birdie, began to mingle with the other pokemon while Morph begged for Tim to hold him. |

It appeared Nikki was the first one there, but two trainers came in shortly after, if she remembered correctly their names were Tim and Matthew. Matthew appeared new to pokemon battling but the girl was quite awed at what he had accomplished in such a short period of time, his fine Castform floating forwards to greet Zak's equally impressive shiny Drifloon- Sunny.
"Hey guys, come on up! Make yourself at home!" Zak called out as the three trainers entered. He named his Pokemon each in turn and Nikki couldn't help but feel awed, especially by his Leafeon and Glaceon- two Pokemon she adored very much. "Hey, glad to meet you all," she said. As each trainer released all their Pokemon in turn she looked on very impressed at what their teams held. A small nudge at her feet took her attention downwards as Esteban, Zak's Gible, nudged her feet and she picked him up delicately as she admired the Land Shark Pokemon... crying out a little as Esteban jumped straight out of her arms, scuttling across the room naughtily, back to his trainer's feet. With a start she realised she had yet to send out her own Pokemon apart from Mystic who was already outside his ball. Her team seemed to pale in comparison to the others but she was nonetheless very proud of her Pokemon as Ember, her Ponyta, Azure, her Froslass, Shade, her Ekans and Aquae, her newly bought Eevee appeared in separate flashes of light. "Ember, you might want to stay away from the walls, lest you set the whole place on fire..." Nikki noted with a hint of anxiety. However all Ember wanted to do was play at the moment and she trotted meekly over to Magby, eyeing him with a inquisitive expression. "Oh yeah, Zak, she belonged to you before, right?" her gaze shifted to their host. "She's a wonderful Pokemon, I'm glad to be able to raise her." On the other hand, Azure seemed to be quite at home, drifting slowly over to one of Tim's Pokemon but otherwise not really active. Shade seemed very startled at the mass of Pokemon and people alike in the room and darted instantly behind the cover of the large Venusaur Doll as his forked tongue flicked in and out, eyes unblinkingly focused on some of the more "dangerous" Pokemon he considered to be dangerous, in the room. On the other hand Aquae seemed content chasing Esteban around the room, rearing back on her hind paws to playfully whack the Gible on the head before darting backwards and out of sight, pawing the shins of another trainer instead. "Um, I do appear to have an odd crew here... I also have another Pokemon but I'm scared he'll do something... odd, to say the least," Nikki continued sheepishly. "He's my Shadow Grimer, and I don't know how he came to be in that condition but I'll safely say he's rather uneasy to be around, so I'll spare you that trouble." Scolding her Eevee mildly for her antics, she picked her up as the fluffy Pokemon was content to simply be held in her trainer's arms for now. |

It had been a good while since Zak had visited his secret base. To tell the truth, he had forgotten all about Susan and had only remembered the existence of his little domain when he had sorted through his mail to find a rather angry looking red letter. He hadn't renewed his insurance in almost five years and knew he needed to fix the situation and fast. The last time he was in Fizzy Bubbles, he had been a much more headstrong lad, immature in many ways and just after the next adventure. Now he was an adult, he still longed to spend time in the wilds with his team mates, but just taking in his surroundings was enough to satiate Zak's need for adventure.
Upon arriving in the locale of the base, Zak was instantly taken back. He had always had a fascination with the occult, that still remained and he was glad he had chosen to have his base set up within the grounds of an old and most definitely haunted manor. He wasn't sure whether anybody would be at home, but the building still gave him the willies as it stood silently, watching his every move. Focusing on the task at hand, he strode to the rear of the manor where there was a small thicket. It was in this thicket that Zak's base lay, nestled in the branches of a wizened old tree. Upon arrival, the base looked no different than it had in the previous years, if you ignored the cobwebs and imminent dustiness that lay within at least. I suppose I'd better clear this obstruction before I even think of climbing the ladder, I wouldn't want to end up in the centre of an Ariados banquet or something With such thoughts in his mind, Zak shuddered slightly. He was fascinated by spiders but when they got big around here, they got really big. Pushing aside his bout of arachnophobia, his hand met a newly placed Pokéball on his belt. This was a brand new addition to his team and he was itching to have an opportunity to train alongside him and begin to bond. "Come on out... new guy!" Zak chuckled at the realisation that he had yet to name his friend. In a beep and a flash, there was a flurry of wings in the air before him. Once the Pokémon gained itself, it managed to flap in one place before him, eyeing its new trainer cautiously. Having recently hatched, they had bonded very little outside of his collection and the Tiny Swallow seemed unsure of his surroundings. "Hey you. My name is Zak and this is Susan!" The trainer motioned a hand upwards, past the ramshackle ladder to the protruding wood of the base above his head. He thought an attempt at humour would help to acquaint the bird to his personality, knowing full well that he would be confused who Susan was. His humour had its usual effect and bombed with the swallow showing very little interest. This was a common theme for Zak so he brushed it off and grinned at the Pokémon in the air before him. "I don't suppose you'll realise, but you're a special little guy. See your green plumage? Not every Taillow has that." He spoke excitedly, he would have been happy with his new hatchling even if he hadn't been born with a rare colouration seldom seen amongst his wild brethren. Having not realised, the Taillow seemed excited about the prospect, beginning to preen his wing feathers. If he was special, he most definitely wanted to look his best. "I hope you're not going to just sit around and preen yourself all day. We've got to get upstairs and see what the situation is like. I've not been here in a good few years and i'm nervous to see what I left it like..." Zak had a sudden realisation. He knew full well that he wasn't the tidiest of people, what if he had left the tree house a mess and had to tidy that before he could even begin to set things straight? His head hurt at the mere thought of tidying but he knew that he had to get into the base first. "Let's see what moves you've got at your disposal so far..." His Pokédex was in his hand and pointed at the Taillow before he had even finished his sentence. Taillow. The Tiny Swallow Pokémon. Taillow courageously stands its ground against foes, however strong they may be. This gutsy Pokémon will remain defiant even after a loss. On the other hand, it cries loudly if it becomes hungry. The latter had Zak worried. He already had several young Pokémon to look after, he didn't need another cry baby. It didn't seem like this would be the case with Taillow though, he seemed enchanted by the notion that he would be standing his ground against his foes. He appeared to be already toppling Arceus in his mind, his tiny eyes glinting with prospect. "At level one, a Taillow can use Peck and Growl""Okay, never mind. Don't be disheartened, though, just because you lack the moves at the moment doesn't mean you wont be able to learn some very soon!" Zak reassured the Taillow, though he didn't seem to mind, he had the potential and with such potential, even his peck attack could conquer the world in his eyes. "Alexis, time to show your new friend what you can do!" Zak had disengaged a second Pokéball. This time it was a Magby who appeared before him. He was more familiar with his trainer by this point, but still appeared a little reserved. He took in his surroundings and shuddered nervously, he would have rather have just stayed where he was in his Pokéball. "I want you to try to Flame Charge up the tree, we need those webs clearing before we can get in." No sooner had Zak issued the command had Magby hopped into a battle stance. With a few seconds of preparation, the baby hurtled towards the trunk, his entire surface beginning to catch fire as he sped up. In moments, he had gained the momentum to run up the tree, burning aside any and all of the debri as he reached where the trunk met the bottom of the base. Despite such success, there was only one way for Alexis to go and that was down. Luckily, Zak and Taillow were prepared, with both dashing forward to help and all three landing in a heap at the base of the ladder. "Great job Alexis, you did perfectly. Now, you climb onto my back, we're going up!" The trainer scooped up the Magby, burning his hands as he tossed the Pokémon onto his back like a hot potato with limbs. Even through his clothes he could feel the emanating heat from the baby's tiny frame. With Alexis safely in place and Taillow aware that the trio were going up, Zak began to climb up into the tree, brushing away a few last bit of scorched web. After a minute, he reached the top of the ladder and stepped out onto the planks before the doorway. "Alright, we're here. Time to see what sort of mess I left..." Zak twisted the knob and stepped through... Last edited by Pearl's Perap; 07-27-2014 at 10:14 AM. |

Peering around in the dim light of his secret base, Zak was pleasantly surprised to see how organised the place looked. Dusty, but definitely organised. A quick survey of the base helped the trainer to re-familiarize with what he had kept in his treetop abode. He smiled as he passed a room adorned with plushies, one being a lifesize Venusaur he had bought for Nancy.
"How's this for a secret base, eh Alexis?" Zak had set the Live Coal Pokémon down from his back once they had entered the base. Ever since, the baby had wandered here and there, examining his new surroundings with a look of awe in his eyes. Noticing that Zak had stopped, the fire Pokémon crowed insistently, grabbing for his trainer's hand to continue the exploration. "One moment Alexis, we need to deal with this dust before we get to settling in completely..." His mind had instantly flipped to the Taillow who had been silently flying alongside his two companions. At this stage, he couldn't really harness the power of Gust, Zak needed someone else's help for this task. "I've got it!" With a deft movement, he had a Leaf Ball in one hand and a Snow Ball in the other, "Bette, Porter, it's sweeping time!" In a flash, a pair of fox-like Pokémon stood before their trainer, stretching their legs and adjusting themselves to their surroundings. Bette the Leafeon looked up adoringly with her chocolate eyes as she settled herself to await any orders. Porter the Glaceon on the other hand had scratched at his ear for a moment and curled up at the feet of his trainer. "Okay, i've got a little job for you two, I'd like you to give each other a helping hand and whip all the dust away with your tails." As their trainer spoke, Bette nodded along and began her part of the process. Porter, noticing that Bette has already began, nods a quick agreement and begins to assist. "Great job, guys. Now, let's see what we've got to update." Zak had remembered that he had been keeping an entire log of his time in Fizzy Bubbles. This consisted of a number of records: hatches, battles, adventures, everything Zak had done whilst he explored the region. Alongside this log, he had kept a planner on the wall with all of his Pokémon's birthdays on. "What the..." Zak had noticed something most strange. The calendar looked just the way he had left it, with each of his team members listed. This included his latest additions. Who the hell has been here and how do they know about Candy and Abra?! Zak paced the room anxiously. Upon arriving in his base and finding it just the way he had left it, he had found a great comfort. It had felt like he had never been away... but he definitely had. Abra had been a recent hatchling and he had adopted his Miltank not long before his visit, he was clueless as to how such recent acquisitions were written in his hand on a calendar he hadn't seen in almost four years. "Alexis, you would be safer in your Pokéball. Taillow, I want you ready to peck eyes out if need be..." Zak's mind always jumped to the worst scenario possible, he must have a stalker. There was no other explanation, surely? With Magby safely in her home vessel, the trainer set to looking for clues. Not having a clue where to even start, it wasn't long before he had given up. Mysteries hurt his head and this one was a real mystery, a mystery which was encroaching on his personal sensitivities. He needed clarity and he needed it quickly. "I'm just in time, aren't I?" The familiar dulcet tones pierced into his mind. Doug the Slowking had a habit of showing up to show off his higher intellect and eye for solving problematic situations which had left his trainer beyond stumped. "Don't feel all too bad about this, Zak, you aren't of the right mind for THIS particular mystery. I have already managed to solve it." Zak knew he should have just got Doug involved from the beginning, but he didn't like to rely on the wits of another if he could help it. This time however, he needed an answer and he needed it now. If there was some weirdo lurking around following his every move, he wanted them gone. "Relax yourself, calm your mind." The Royal Pokémon did not seem comfortable with the knowledge he possessed about the situationand he shuffled nervously from foot to foot, "It is no stalker, it is someone we know well..." A pregnant pause gave birth to one word, a name: "Andrew." Last edited by Pearl's Perap; 08-17-2014 at 09:52 AM. |

Halloweevolution time~
Spending time in the grounds of the Haunted Mansion had reminded Zak of his own paranormal bolthole, 'Susan'. He hadn't visited the little treetop shack in a number of years and knew the place was bound to look a shambles. That didn't matter though and the man decided that a visit to get things tidied up was a good idea, especially given that he was nearby following his time in the maze alongside Professor Palm, the gathering Pumpkasaur and the partying ghouls and goblins. With Sunny and Crawford still by his side, it wasn't long before the trio found themselves deep in an ever-darkening copse. The further they wandered, the gloomier things seemed to get but before long, the shiny Drifblim cried out at a familiar sight as the trees began to thin out again before the three of them: on the other side of the copse that they had passed through was their ramshackle abode.
"Looks just like I remembered it." Zak smiled, looking past the dirt and leaves that had gathered upon the steps up to the treehouse. He had some good memories of times that he had spent in his base, memories of people he had not seen for a long time and may never encounter again. That didn't matter, though, he had a whole host of new Pokémon friends and wanted to get the place looking better for any future visitors too. Given the go ahead, Crawford the Murkrow swooped up from his trainer's shoulder and landed on the top step, tapping at the door with his beak. "I don't think anybody is going to be home... at least I hope not!" The man chuckled to himself nervously, if there was anybody squatting in his base, he would be able to get rid of them alongside his Pokémon but the thought of somebody invading his space sent a shudder down his spine. There wasn't even that much of importance in the shack, it was just that it was his private sanctuary. Luckily, nobody answered the door and the Murkrow squawked down to his trainer to let him know that there wasn't anybody home. This prompted the man to release a number of his team mates to help with the clean-up alongside himself, Crawford and Sunny. In a flash, four new forms stood before the man and his shiny Drifblim; another shiny, this time a Taillow as well as an Archen, a Toxel and a Rookidee. The latter three were Zak's latest hatches and he wanted to introduce them to their home from home. "Welcome to Susan, everyone." The Taillow was first off the ground, quickly darting to his trainer and grabbing the key to the shack from his hand before flying up to meet the Murkrow at the door. The speed and precision of his movements left the new born Archen in awe and he toddled forwards next, using his frail wings to aid with his ascension of the staircase. The Rookidee seemed less impressed and flew up to sit on her trainers head instead, she wasn't in any great rush and preferred to assess the situation first. The Toxel seemed the least interested in the shack, though, having crawled towards the Drifblim instead before sitting and looking up at him with an expression-less gaze on his face. This didn't bother Sunny, though, with the Blimp Pokémon quick to scoop up and cradle the new baby, much to his chagrin. "If we're going to have any visitors to this place, we're going to have to get things tidied up. It should just be a matter of dust and cobwebs but if you'll do the honours, Jaime, we'll be able to see what we're working with." With a curt nod, the key-wielding Taillow swooped towards the keyhole and deftly inserted the key with one of its claws. With a quick twist and a flap of his wings, the door swung open and the Pokémon gathered at the top of the steps made their way into the gloom. Not wanting to let them enter alone, the man quickly motioned for the Drifblim and his new but rather reluctant friend to follow him as he ascended the staircase to the open front door. As anticipated, everything appeared to be where Zak had remembered leaving things. There was a couple of Rare Candy wrappers on the counter but other than that, it was just very dusty. He was surprised that none of the nearby Pokémon had spotted the place going unvisited but this certainly left the man feeling more relieved. That was until he spotted something on the table that he hadn't noticed before: a strange purple stone was catching the slight bit of light that was leaking in through the window across from it and the door that still stood wide open behind the man and his Pokémon. Upon closer inspection, it was quickly obvious to the man that this was a Dusk Stone, a special kind of stone that triggered evolution in a few key species of Pokémon. One of which he happened to have with him right now. Not knowing where it had come from, though, the man was dubious about just grabbing it and offering it to Crawford. "Okay guys, I'm going to get to sweeping up the dust and leaves on the floor - if you could use your wings to conjure up a gust, that would be great." The man hadn't even managed to get his hand on a broom that was propped nearby before a flurry of feathers took to the air above him with even the Rookidee getting involved to help her trainer. In the cloud of dust and wings, it was difficult for Zak to see what was happening and he quickly regretted his cleaning strategy, turning away from the situation to shield his eyes. Sunny had done the same, not for his own but for those of the Toxel he was still clutching tightly. In doing this, the man missed Crawford the Murkrow spotting something glinting amongst the chaos and stopping his clean-up to investigate. It was the other avians chirping and squawking that caused Zak to look again and, as the dust subsided, an unfamiliar and rather large bird was stood on the table looking rather sheepish. "Well, at least it was a treat and not a trick!" The man laughed, stepping forwards to ruffle the freshly-evolved Honchkrow's feathers. He knew the bird was an inquisitive one after their recent trip through the maze so he couldn't fault him for wanting to examine the mysterious Dusk Stone. This didn't stop him from wondering where the enigmatic stone had appeared from but he was incredibly grateful to their mysterious visitor. With the remaining dust and leaves blown out through the door by the efforts of the other birds, Zak and his team were able to take a moment to relax in their refreshed abode and plan their next moves as well as who to invite along for an Autumnal soiree. |
